The article presents a study which investigated molecular diversity and evolution of neuron types in the amniote brain using transcriptomic approaches. Topics include implication of the evolutionary diversification of neurons, a core set of neuron types with high transcriptomic similarity between the brains of a lizard and a mammal identified using a comparative single-cell transcriptomics, and neuron types that are not restricted to subcortical regions but are found everywhere in the brain.
