The purpose of this article is to present the way in which knowledge is treated on Physical Education classes at public schools. Through ethnographic research, aspects inherent to the concrete context of school practice that enhance the knowledge-producing cultural dynamics are put in the spotlight. The tradition, the symbolic efficacy and the common sense are some of those factors. It is possible to affirm that the knowledge(s) of the Physical Education classes are molded by aspects related to the cultural tradition presented by the subject, as well as factors going beyond what a rationalist view of knowledge might admit. Based on such questions it is possible to think how the ethnography of knowledge might inspire the didactical/pedagogical discussion for Physical Education at school. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] more...
