Recently, photothermoelectric effect of thermoelectric materials has been hotly explored to develop self-powered and large bandwidth photodetectors working at ambient conditions. However, the key parameters for optimized photothermoelectric effect are still elusive. Here, based on the two-temperature model under static condition, we theoretically studied the key parameters to optimize the photothermoelectric performance of thermoelectric materials. Results verify that when the incident electromagnetic wave only generates electronic intra-band excitation, there is an ideal carrier concentration to optimize the photothermoelectric voltage; when the wavelength of a detected electromagnetic wave can resonantly excite quasi-particle (like phonons) except electrons, the photothermoelectric voltage can be enhanced significantly around the resonant wavelength regime; and when the electronic inter-band transition can be excited by an electromagnetic wave, photothermoelectric voltage is significantly increased due to the high optical absorption. As an example, the theoretical dependence of the photothermoelectric voltage of SnSe on wavelength is in line with the experimental result. We report both experimentally and numerically that a low-frequency acoustic absorber is realized by double split-ring resonators backed with a rigid wall. This absorber leverages the impedance matching and dissipation effect, which arises due to the thermal-viscous loss within the dual channels. As a result, this absorber achieves near-perfect sound absorption (the absorption coefficient α = 0.99) at a subwavelength thickness of around λ/23. By assembling six unit cells with distinct structure parameters to form a supercell, the fractional bandwidth (the ratio of the bandwidth to the center frequency) is increased to 40% with an average α of 0.86. Acoustic experiment results validate this exceptional performance, which is also in agreement with the simulation results. Moreover, by employing the supercell, we create an anechoic room demonstrating broadband sound absorption in a wide range of incident angles while occupying significantly less space than traditional sound-absorbing porous materials. In various applications, observed variables are missing some information that was intended to be collected. The estimations of both loading and path coefficients could be biased when ignoring the missing data. Inverse probability weighting (IPW) is one of the well-known methods helping to reduce bias in regressions, while belonging to a promising but new category in structural equation models. The paper proposes both parametric and nonparametric IPW estimation methods for dynamic structural equation models, in which both loading and path coefficients are developed into functions of a random variable and of the quantile level. To improve the computational efficiency, modified parametric IPW and modified nonparametric IPW are developed through reducing inverse probability computations but making fuller use of completely observed information. All the above IPW estimation methods are compared to existing complete case analysis through simulation investigations. The hypoxic environment of deep tissue and the weak energy of microwave (MW) are still the major limitations of MW catalytic therapy. In this work, an MW‐responsive nano‐platform consisting of an Mn‐doped porphyrin metal–organic framework loaded with calcium peroxide (Mn0.1PCC) is designed to regulate the microenvironment of the injection site and enhance the generation of reactive oxygen species. The excellent MW absorbing properties of Mn0.1PCC improve the Fenton reaction between hydrogen peroxide formed by the hydrolysis of calcium peroxide and released Mn2+ generating more hydroxyl radicals under MW. This process does not consume the oxygen substrate and even produces oxygen to improve the hypoxic environment. Therefore, at a low and safe concentration (125 µg mL−1), the antibacterial rate of Mn0.1PCC against 4 × 108 CFU mL−1 of methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) after MW irradiation for 15 min is 99.71% ± 0.18%. Mn0.1PCC, upon exposure to MW, prevents the recurrence of bacterial infections and overcomes drug resistance by inhibiting quorum sensing and the two‐component system of MRSA. It can also induce macrophage M1 polarization, up‐regulate the pro‐inflammatory factor tumor necrosis factor‐α, and enhance the phagocytosis of macrophage to bacteria. Recently, quantile-based structural equation model has enjoyed increasing popularity in various fields and applications. As we know, structural equation model consists of structural model and measurement model in total. In our quantile-based measurement model, the observed variables are considered to be manifestations of an underlying construct with changing relationships going from the latent variable to its observed variables at different quantiles. Based on our model, we propose a quantile-based partial least square algorithm with bag of little bootstraps. All of our model and algorithm are compared to our quantile-based partial least square algorithms with traditional bootstrap in simulations, and applied to part of IMD (International Institute for Management Development) World Competitiveness Yearbook datasets. Angiosperm trees usually develop tension wood (TW) in response to gravitational stimulation. TW comprises abundant gelatinous (G-) fibers with thick G-layers primarily composed of crystalline cellulose. Understanding the pivotal factors governing G-layer formation in TW fiber remains elusive. This study elucidates the role of a Populus trichocarpa COBRA family protein, PtrCOB3, in the G-layer formation of TW fibers. PtrCOB3 expression was upregulated, and its promoter activity was enhanced during TW formation. Comparative analysis with wild-type trees revealed that ptrcob3 mutants, mediated by Cas9/gRNA gene editing, were incapable of producing G-layers within TW fibers and showed severely impaired stem lift. Fluorescence immunolabeling data revealed a dearth of crystalline cellulose in the tertiary cell wall (TCW) of ptrcob3 TW fibers. The role of PtrCOB3 in G-layer formation is contingent upon its native promoter, as evidenced by the comparative phenotypic assessments of pCOB11::PtrCOB3, pCOB3::PtrCOB3, and pCOB3::PtrCOB11 transgenic lines in the ptrcob3 background. Overexpression of PtrCOB3 under the control of its native promoter expedited G-layer formation within TW fibers. We further identified 3 transcription factors that bind to the PtrCOB3 promoter and positively regulate its transcriptional levels. Alongside the primary TCW synthesis genes, these findings enable the construction of a 2-layer transcriptional regulatory network for the G-layer formation of TW fibers. Overall, this study uncovers mechanistic insight into TW formation, whereby a specific COB protein executes the deposition of cellulose, and consequently, G-layer formation within TW fibers. This article discusses the development of a rapid and portable method for detecting Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA using enzymatic recombinase amplification (ERA) combined with the CRISPR-Cas12a system. EBV DNA detection is important for screening and monitoring diseases related to EBV infection, such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The study optimized the ERA and CRISPR-Cas12a systems to improve sensitivity and specificity. The integrated ERA-Cas12a system was able to detect EBV as low as 20 copies/µL with high specificity. Research on the relationship between macrophages and neuropathic pain has flourished in the past two decades. It has long been believed that macrophages are strong immune effector cells that play well-established roles in tissue homeostasis and lesions, such as promoting the initiation and progression of tissue injury and improving wound healing and tissue remodeling in a variety of pathogenesis-related diseases. They are also heterogeneous and versatile cells that can switch phenotypically/functionally in response to the micro-environment signals. Apart from microglia (resident macrophages of both the spinal cord and brain), which are required for the neuropathic pain processing of the CNS, neuropathic pain signals in PNS are influenced by the interaction of tissue-resident macrophages and BM infiltrating macrophages with primary afferent neurons. And the current review looks at new evidence that suggests sexual dimorphism in neuropathic pain are caused by variations in the immune system, notably macrophages, rather than the neurological system. Due to the limitations on the depth of field of high-resolution fluorescence microscope, it is difficult to obtain an image with all objects in focus. The existing image fusion methods suffer from blocking effects or out-of-focus fluorescence. The proposed multi-focus image fusion method based on local maximum luminosity, intensity variance and the information filling method can reconstruct the all-in-focus image. Summary: The quality of fish is easily damaged during the frozen process, and the ice glazing technology can better maintain the quality of frozen fish. However, the traditional ice glazing technology is not yet stable and some of the properties need to be improved. This research optimised ice glazing technology by adding different antioxidants to the traditional ice glazing, which improved the stability of the ice glazing and lessened the dry consumption of mackerel during frozen storage. The lipid oxidation and protein denaturation of mackerel were inhibited with the addition of antioxidants to the ice glazing, the freshness of mackerel was maintained better, and the production of histamine was also decreased during frozen storage. It was found that the ice glazing with the addition of antioxidant bamboo leaves (AOB) had better water retention, lower TVB‐N value, and histamine content compared to the addition of theaflavins (TF) and sodium isovitamin (VC). Moreover, the sample treated by the ice glazing with AOB showed less lipid oxidation and protein denaturation. Therefore, ice glazing with the addition of AOB could be an optional method for relieving the quality deterioration of mackerel during frozen storage. In this work, the significant lifetime improvement of negative bias thermal instability (NBTI) is demonstrated by the introduction of a thin SiN layer fabricated by plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) in stress memorization technique (SMT). The thin SiN film is deposited before the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) of SiN layer with a high tensile stress. It is revealed that the possible H2 escape accompanied with interface de-passivation can be effectively suppressed by this thin PEALD SiN layer, which may further reduce the interface states at Si/gate dielectric interface. Based on the divergent thinking (DT) framework of creativity assessment, this study constructed the Computerized Creativity Assessment with Figure Test (C-CRAFT) that is equipped with an automated scoring system and built around a deep-learning-based semantic space model called Word2Vec. A subject pool of 493 undergraduates completed the C-CRAFT as well as a conventional paper-and-pencil DT test that required manual scoring. We found moderately high to high coefficients for the correlations between the two tests, which suggested that the C-CRAFT has strong criterion-related validity. The results of the pre- and posttests also demonstrated the high test–retest reliability of the C-CRAFT. Good discriminant validity was evidenced by highly significant differences in the C-CRAFT scores between college students from art and design-related fields and students from other majors. These research findings indicate that the C-CRAFT is a valid and reliable assessment tool for DT, while the automated nature of the C-CRAFT makes it easier to implement the DT test compared with traditional approaches. Aluminum air batteries have great potential as a state-of-the-art energy storage device due to their high capacity, energy density and fascinating safety. However, the disturbing hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) of the Al anode increase the gap between practical application and theoretical level. Electrolyte engineering with organic additives has been the spotlight to address the problem of HER. The polar functional group of organic molecules could bound with the water via the hydrogen bond to drop the activity of water. Unfortunately, the basic physicochemical properties of electrolyte would be deteriorated due to the organic matter, which has a negative impact on the electrochemical performance of batteries. Herein, an inorganic additive was adopted to regulate the hydrogen bond network and anode interface. The activity of H 2 O could be obviously suppressed by the stronger three-center-four-electron hydrogen bonds bridged by fluoride ions. And the water molecules are kept away from the anode surface due to the protective layer caused by the adsorption of fluoride ions. The HER could be greatly inhibited by both pathways, which reaches an inhibition efficiency of 55% in the electrolyte with 5 M KF. Correspondingly, the Al air battery exhibits a high discharge specific capacity of 1552.8 mAh g−1 and an energy density of 1829.51 Wh kg−1 at a current density of 25 mA cm−2. Abstract.In this article, we develop one kind of varying-coefficients latent variable model and its corresponding estimation method based on local-polynomial theory. The model is an expansion of classical latent variable model to varying-coefficients ones, in which the relations among latent variables and observed variables are allowed to vary as smooth functions of another variable. As comparison, we use the existing quantile varying-coefficients latent variable model and its estimation method. Reverse education, where younger individuals teach older adults, has gained prominence but lacks comprehensive understanding regarding its dynamics and impacts. This study addresses this gap by exploring the cognitive processes of older adult learners who view young university students as their teachers. Through semi-structured interviews with 12 older adults learning to use smartphones, we identify and analyse 3 critical stages of their cognitive journey: pre-teaching, teaching interaction, and learning reflection. In the pre-teaching stage, older adults accept young students as teachers primarily due to the perceived authority of the educational institution. During the teaching interaction stage, they recognize the value of the younger generation's teaching abilities and emotional support. In the learning reflection stage, older adults emphasize the quality of their learning experience and personal growth when evaluating young students as teachers. Our findings provide a nuanced understanding of why older adult learners embrace reverse education, highlighting the importance of teaching competencies and emotional engagement. These insights have significant implications for enhancing reverse education practices and the professional development of educators in senior university settings. Application of silicon‐based anodes is significantly challenged by low initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) and poor cyclability. Traditional pre‐lithiation reagents often pose safety concerns due to their unstable chemical nature. Achieving a balance between water‐stability and high ICE in prelithiated silicon is a critical issue. Here, we present a lithium‐enriched silicon/graphite material with an ultra‐high ICE of ≥110 % through a high‐stable lithium pre‐storage methodology. Lithium pre‐storage prepared a nano‐drilled graphite material with surficial lithium functional groups, which can form chemical bonds with adjacent silicon during high‐temperature sintering. This results in an unexpected O−Li−Si interaction, leading to in situ pre‐lithiation of silicon nanoparticles and providing high stability in air and water. Additionally, the lithium‐enriched silicon/graphite materials impart a combination of high ICE, high specific capacity (620 mAh g−1), and long cycling stability (>400 cycles). The development of alcohol‐associated diseases is multifactorial, mechanism of which involves metabolic alteration, dysregulated immune response, and a perturbed intestinal host‐environment interface. Emerging evidence has pinpointed the critical role of the intestinal host–microbiota interaction in alcohol‐induced injuries, suggesting its contribution to disease initiation and development. To maintain homeostasis in the gut, the intestinal mucosa serves as the first‐line defense against exogenous factors in the gastrointestinal tract, including dietary contents and the commensal microbiota. The gut‐epithelial barrier comprises a physical barrier lined with a single layer of intestinal epithelial cells and a chemical barrier with mucus trapping host regulatory factors and gut commensal bacteria. In this article, we review recent studies pertaining to the disrupted gut‐epithelial barrier upon alcohol exposure and examine how alcohol and its metabolism can affect the regulatory ability of intestinal epithelium. Sucralose is a popular nonnutritive sweetener. The association of sucralose with gut microbiota and its effect on body weight remains unclear; therefore, we examined the effect of sucralose on human and mouse/rat gut microbiota composition. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis by including clinical trials on the effect of sucralose on human and mouse/rat gut microbiota composition. Of nine studies, two were human trials, and seven were mouse/rat trials. In humans, sucralose intake resulted in significantly higher relative abundance of Bacteroidetes than controls (mean change in relative abundance = 0.24, P < 0.001); however, the converse was observed in mice/rats (mean change in relative abundance = −11.02,P = 0.01). The relative abundance of Actinobacteria significantly increased in humans after sucralose intake (mean change in relative abundance = 0.30, P < 0.01), and the relative abundance of Verrucomicrobia significantly decreased in mice/rats after sucralose intake (mean change in relative abundance = −1.43, P = 0.04). Sucralose reduced obesity in humans by reducing the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio and increasing the relative abundance of Actinobacteria. However, sucralose induced obesity in mice/rats by reducing the F/B ratio. More randomized clinical trials and international cooperation in sharing original data are warranted in the future. Machining scheme selection is presently time-consuming and inefficient due to singularity and uncertainty in decision-making. Typically, the selection is based on a singular feature, with eventual outcomes remaining uncertain. In response, this paper proposes a feature-group-oriented re-optimized bacterial foraging algorithm to solve this problem by selecting the optimal machining schemes for multiple similar features in one part at once. Our focus is on designing the re-optimized bacterial foraging algorithm to optimize machining schemes, which considers the processes of chemotaxis, fine-tuning, replication, and adaptive migration with re-optimization. Then, comparative studies with varying weights and algorithms are conducted as an illustration of machining scheme selection for the hole feature-group. The results indicate that the re-optimized bacterial foraging algorithm accurately produces three distinct machining schemes based on varying weights. The variability of age at first marriage has implications for the destandardisation of life course and the deinstitutionalisation of the marriage institution. Previous studies, based on Western societies, suggest a more dispersed variability in recent cohorts. However, despite the rise in women’s education, the universal ideology of formal marriage, the powerful link between formal marriage and childbearing, and collectivism in East Asian societies may constrain variability in marriage timing. Also, women with different levels of education experience different life course sequences and interactions with marriage, leading to heterogeneous changes in the variability of age at first marriage. Using the Women’s Marriage, Fertility, and Employment Survey in Taiwan, this article presents a representative case of changing marriage and childbearing behaviours in East Asia. Our results show that the variability among women without a high school degree has become more dispersed in more recent birth cohorts. In contrast, variability of age at first marriage among highly educated women has remained consistent. The educational differences became more salient in recent cohorts, especially in women born after 1960. Our findings contribute to the literature on how the life course and the institution of marriage have diverged across education levels over birth cohorts in East Asia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to evaluate these effects in terms of their timing and intensity on cognitive performance. Methods: This was a four-arm, crossover randomized controlled trial. Healthy college-aged male adults with recreational resistance training experience participated in this study. Participants completed three separate sessions of circuit barbell resistance exercises, including back squat, press, and deadlift. Each session corresponded to a different intensity level: 65% 1RM, 72% 1RM, and 78% 1RM. Each session consisted of 5 repetitions across 3 sets, with a 3-minute rest between exercises and sets. For the control condition, participants engaged in a reading activity for the same duration. The subjective exercise intensity was measured using the rating of perceived exertion and repetitions in reserve immediately after each set. The primary outcome was the temporal effect of acute resistance exercise on inhibition, measured by the Stroop color-word task. The secondary outcome was the effect of different intensities. Results: 30 out of 31 recruited participants were randomized, with 28 completing all experiment sessions. Using repeated measures correlation (rrm), a linear temporal effect was observed on accuracy-adjusted congruent reaction time: rrm = 0.114, p = 0.045, 95% CI [0.002, 0.223]. Participants responded 19.1 ms faster than the control condition approximately 10 minutes post-intervention. This advantage, however, gradually declined at a rate of 4.3 ms every 15 minutes between 10– 55 minutes post-intervention. In contrast, no significant effects were detected for incongruent trials or the Stroop effect. When examining the linear relationship across exercise intensities, no significant correlations emerged for congruent trials. Conclusion: Resistance exercise demonstrates a temporal effect on cognitive performance, particularly in reaction speed for congruent trials, without significant changes in incongruent trials or the overall Stroop effect. The findings highlight the importance of timing in leveraging the cognitive benefits of acute resistance exercise, suggesting a window of enhanced cognitive performance following exercise. However, this study has a limitation regarding Type I error inflation, due to multiple measurements of cognitive performance being undertaken, suggesting caution in interpreting the observed temporal effects. Nanotechnology is being used to create innovative food packaging systems that can inhibit the oxidation of foods, thereby improving their quality, safety, and shelf life. These nano-enabled antioxidant packaging materials may therefore increase the healthiness and sustainability of the food supply chain. Recent progress in the application of nanotechnology to create antioxidant packaging materials is reviewed in this paper. The utilization of nanoparticles, nanofibers, nanocrystals, and nanoemulsions to incorporate antioxidants into these packaging materials is highlighted. The application of nano-enabled antioxidant packaging materials to preserve meat, seafood, fruit, vegetable, and other foods is then discussed. Finally, future directions and challenges in the development of this kind of active packaging material are highlighted to stimulate new areas of future research. Nanotechnology has already been used to create antioxidant packaging materials that inhibit oxidative deterioration reactions in foods, thereby prolonging their shelf life and reducing food waste. The failure of soil slopes is usually triggered by rainfall infiltration. Under the rainfall infiltrating, soils transform from unsaturated state to saturated state, the matric suction gradually disappears, pore water pressure increases, and the safety factor of soil slopes decreases. In this paper, a novel rigorous limit equilibrium method is proposed to investigate the stability of unsaturated–saturated soil slopes under rainfall infiltration. The force equilibrium conditions along three coordinate axes and the overall moment equilibrium conditions around three coordinate axes are all strictly satisfied, which are more coincident with the real force state of the slopes. In addition, the seepage fields of soil slopes are investigated by using SEEP/W software. Then, the seepage fields are introduced to the rigorous limit equilibrium method. The effects of rainfall intensity, rainfall patterns and rainfall duration on the stability of the unsaturated–saturated soil slopes are investigated using the proposed method. For the unsaturated soils, in which there exists the matric suction, and the matric suction can improve the stability of soil slopes. The safety factors of soil slops under the different rainfall intensity and rainfall patterns are investigated. Deep neural networks (DNNs) involving massive neural nodes grouped into different neural layers have been a promising innovation for function approximation and inference, which have been widely applied to various vertical applications such as image recognition. However, the computing burdens to train a DNN model with a limited latency may not be affordable for the user equipment (UE), which consequently motivates the concept of splitting the computations of DNN layers to not only the edge server but also the cloud platform. Despite the availability of more computing resources, computing tasks with such split computing also suffer packet transmission unreliability, latency, and significant energy consumption. A practical scheme to optimally split the computations of DNN layers to the UE, edge, and cloud is thus urgently desired. To solve this optimization, we propose a multi-tier deep reinforcement learning (DRL) scheme for the UE and edge to distributively determine the splitting points to minimize the overall training latency while meeting the constraints of overall energy consumption and image recognition accuracy. The performance evaluation results show the outstanding performance of the proposed design as compared with state-of-the-art schemes, to fully justify the practicability in the next-generation smart networks. The flow characteristics of purge gas helium in the pebble bed of the tritium breeding blanket are important in analyzing the tritium purging process and optimizing the design of the solid breeder blanket. Therefore, the flow characteristics of helium gas in randomly packed pebble beds are investigated experimentally with a focus on the analysis of the pressure loss distribution. The results show that gas velocity, bed dimension, and pebble diameters have an obvious influence on the helium flow characteristics in pebble beds. With the increase in the inlet helium gas velocity, the pressure drop gradient of helium in the pebble bed gradually increased. With increases in the pebble bed dimension, the pressure drop gradient of helium in the pebble bed gradually increased. With the increase in the pebble diameter, the pressure drop gradient gradually decreased. In addition, the effect of temperature on the pressure drop of helium in the pebble bed was also preliminarily investigated. The pressure drop gradient of the helium through the pebble bed obviously increased with the increase in the helium and the bed temperature. The experimentally obtained pressure loss characteristics can be used for the validation of the simulation of a blanket pebble bed and as input parameters in the thermo-hydraulic analysis of solid-tritium breeder blankets. In this paper, we consider the inverse problem for the time‐fractional two‐dimensional Cahn–Hilliard equation. The ill‐posedness and a conditional stability of the inverse problem are proved. We present a new iterative variational regularization method to solve it. In this paper, the multi-parameter time fractional radially symmetric anomalous diffusion model used in porous media with initial singularity is considered. Both the direct numerical solution problem and the multi-parameter identification inverse problem are studied. Given the singularity in the initial time, a stable numerical scheme on nonuniform grid mesh is derived by using the L 2 − 1 σ method. To conduct the multi-parameter inversion problem, a novel hybrid Black Widow Optimization and Cuckoo Search (BWOCS) algorithm is proposed to combine the advantages of both the BWO algorithm and the CS algorithm, in order to improve the convergence speed and to achieve high-accuracy optimal results. Numerical examples are given to verify the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed numerical scheme and parameter inversion algorithm. Results show that the nonuniform grid L 2 − 1 σ scheme is efficient to deal with the time fractional radially symmetric anomalous diffusion problem with initial singularity, and the hybrid BWOCS algorithm has high precision and well convergence speed, compared with both the BWO and CS algorithms, which can be extended to other fractional inverse problems. In this paper, an analytical approach is proposed to investigate the topographic amplification effects of slopes under seismic loads. The method of region decomposition and matching was adopted to decompose the whole research region into two subregions. Wave function series solutions that satisfied the boundary conditions of stress and displacement of the subregion under the excitation of plane SH waves were constructed. Wave function analytical solutions for slope models under the excitation of plane SH waves were derived. The appropriate number of truncated terms were determined by convergence tests to ensure the accuracy and validity of the wavefield displacement function. The analytical solutions obtained from the proposed method agreed with the numerical solutions. In addition, based on the proposed method, the effects of slope angle, slope height, dimensionless frequency, and the incidence angle of seismic waves on the peak displacement amplification factor were quantitatively studied. Flexible manipulation of the polarization state is essential for the practical application of terahertz (THz) waves in many fields. However, the lack of effective, high-quality polarization-tunable THz sources hinders the further development of THz technology. Here, we demonstrate an actively switchable spintronic THz source with polarization states among linear, circular, and elliptical states in the CoFeB/Pt/SiO2(sub)/Ta/Co/IrMn structure by using the antiferromagnet/ferromagnet exchange bias effect, as well as a temporary magnetic field to combine the magnetization directions, and designing the thickness of the substrate to achieve a suitable phase difference. In addition, the chirality, ellipticity, and azimuth of the THz waves can be manipulated arbitrarily by controlling the magnetization combination. More importantly, using rotating motors and electromagnets enables fully automated operations. This highly efficient, polarization-tunable THz source meets most of the existing needs, and its low cost and small size make it more suitable for integration into various devices. Aqueous zinc–halogen batteries (AZHBs) have emerged as promising candidates for energy storage applications due to their high security features and low cost. However, several challenges including natural subliming, sluggish reaction kinetics, and shuttle effect of halogens, as well as dendrite growth of the zinc (Zn) anode, have hindered their large‐scale commercialization. In this review, first the fundamental mechanisms and scientific issues associated with AZHBs are summarized. Then the research issues and progresses related to the cathode, separator, anode, and electrolyte are discussed. Additionally, emerging research opportunities in this field is explored. Finally, ideas and prospects for the future development of AZHBs are presented. The objective of this review is to stimulate further exploration, foster the advancement of AZHBs, and contribute to the diversified development of electrochemical energy storage. Aqueous zinc (Zn) ion batteries (AZIBs) have not yet fulfilled their talent of high safety and low cost since the anode/electrolyte interface (AEI) has long been impeded by hydrogen evolution, surface corrosion, dendritic growth, and by‐product accumulation. Here, the hydrolysis of solid buffers is elaborately proposed to comprehensively and enduringly handle these issues. Take 2D layered black phosphorus (BP) as a hydrolytic subject. It is reported that the phosphoric acid generated by hydrolysis in an aqueous electrolyte produces a zinc phosphate (ZPO) rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer, which largely inhibits the dendrite growth, surface corrosion, and hydrogen evolution. Meanwhile, the hydrolytic phosphoric acid stabilizes the pH value near AEI, avoiding the accumulation of alkaline by‐products. Notably, compared with the disposable ZPO engineerings of anodic SEI pre‐construction and electrolyte additive, the hydrolysis strategy of BP can realize a dramatically prolonged protective effect. As a result, these multiple merits endow BP modified separator to achieve improved stripping/plating stability toward Zn anode with more than ten times lifespan enhancement in Zn||Zn symmetrical cell. More encouragingly, when coupled with a V2O5·nH2O cathode with ultra‐high loadings (34.1 and 28.7 mg cm−2), the cumulative capacities are remarkably promoted for both coin and pouch cells. Carrying out research on the management of electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) is necessary to maintain the environment and human health. The dredged sludge (DS) and water hyacinth (WH) generated from dredging projects are potential environmental threats, and therefore suitable methods need to be found for their treatment. In this study, ceramsite was prepared by a two-step low-temperature firing method using DS and EMR as raw materials, WH as a pore-forming additive, and aluminate cement as a binder for the adsorption of phosphorus from wastewater. The optimal ratio and process parameters of the ceramsite were determined by mechanical and adsorption properties. The static adsorption experiments were conducted to study the effect of ceramsite dosage and solution pH on the removal of phosphorus. At the same time, dynamic adsorption experiments were designed to consider the influence of flow rate on its actual absorption effect, to explore the actual effect of ceramsite in wastewater treatment, and to derive a dynamic adsorption model that can provide technical support and theoretical guidance for environmental management. Solar‐driven photoelectrochemical (PEC) energy conversion holds great potential in converting solar energy into storable and transportable chemicals or fuels, providing a viable route toward a carbon‐neutral society. Conjugated polymers are rapidly emerging as a new class of materials for PEC water splitting. They exhibit many intriguing properties including tunable electronic structures through molecular engineering, excellent light harvesting capability with high absorption coefficients, and facile fabrication of large‐area thin films via solution processing. Recent advances have indicated that integrating rationally designed conjugated polymers with inorganic semiconductors is a promising strategy for fabricating efficient and stable hybrid photoelectrodes for high‐efficiency PEC water splitting. This review introduces the history of developing conjugated polymers for PEC water splitting. Notable examples of utilizing conjugated polymers to broaden the light absorption range, improve stability, and enhance the charge separation efficiency of hybrid photoelectrodes are highlighted. Furthermore, key challenges and future research opportunities for further improvements are also presented. This review provides an up‐to‐date overview of fabricating stable and high‐efficiency PEC devices by integrating conjugated polymers with state‐of‐the‐art semiconductors and would have significant implications for the broad solar‐to‐chemical energy conversion research. According to the locus coeruleus–norepinephrine (LC–NE) theory, activity of the LC, the major releaser of NE in the brain, regulates inhibitory control. As there is reciprocal communication between circulating epinephrine and the LC, plasma epinephrine is used as the index of LC–NE activity. The aim of this crossover randomized controlled trial is to expand on previous findings by investigating the effects of free‐weight, multiple‐joint, and structural barbell resistance exercises. Previous studies have had some methodological limitations, such as failure to report the process of randomization, absence of resistance exercise familiarization before the maximal strength testing, and lack of protocol publication. To address these issues, this study incorporates resistance exercise familiarization, transparent reporting of randomization, and submission as a registered report. The results suggest that a single session of resistance exercise (barbell squat, press, and deadlift) with an intensity of 65%–78% 1RM for five repetitions (70%–90% relative intensity) and three sets with 3‐min rest intervals improved Stroop congruent reaction time (RT) only (t(27) = −2.663, mean reduction = −15 ms, p =.013, 95% CI [−26, −3]). No significant enhancements were observed in Stroop incongruent RT, inhibitory control as indexed by Stroop effect, or inhibitory control as indexed by the RT difference between the Stroop task and the simple reaction task. Moreover, the alterations in plasma epinephrine levels did not significantly associate with changes in any measure of cognitive performance. By addressing previous methodological limitations and employing a registered report format, this study provides more reliable findings on the effects of acute resistance exercise on cognitive performance. We found that, although acute resistance exercise enhances a certain cognitive outcome measured by the Stroop task, the improvement does not appear to be associated with changes in plasma epinephrine. This article discusses the isolation and characterization of ten terpenoids from the leaves and stems of the plant Alangium barbatum. The plant is widely distributed in Southern China, India, Myanmar, Bhutan, Thailand, and Vietnam and has been used in traditional medicine. Previous studies on the genus Alangium have identified various compounds with interesting biological properties. The compounds isolated in this study were identified using spectroscopic methods and compared with literature data. The article provides detailed information on the chemical structures and properties of each compound, including their molecular formulas, mass spectrometry data, and nuclear magnetic resonance data. Background: Lip squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) was one of the most common cancer types of head and neck tumors. This study aimed to find more predictors of the prognosis in postoperative LSCC patients. Methods: A total of 147 LSCC patients between June 2012 and June 2018 were collected from two tertiary care institutions. There were 21 clinicopathological factors included and analyzed in our study. The univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to find the independent prognostic factors for predicting progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in postoperative LSCC patients. The role of adjuvant radiotherapy in various subgroups was displayed by Kaplan–Meier plots. Results: The 1-, 3-, and 5-year PFS of postoperative LSCC patients were 88.4%, 70.1%, and 57.8%, respectively. Similarly, the 1-, 3-, and 5-year OS of postoperative LSCC patients were 94.6%, 76.9%, and 69.4%, respectively. The results suggested that postoperative LSCC patients with age at diagnosis ≥ 70 years, grade with moderate or poor differentiate, the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) stage IV, higher systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), surgical margin < 5, and age-adjusted Charlson Comorbidity Index (ACCI) ≥ 5 tend to have a poorer PFS (all P < 0.05). Besides, postoperative LSCC patients with age at diagnosis ≥ 70 years, AJCC stage IV, higher GPS, higher SII, and ACCI ≥ 5 tend to have a worse OS (all P < 0.05). Additionally, postoperative patients with LSCC in the subgroup of ACCI < 5 and AJCC III–IV stage was more likely to benefit from adjuvant radiotherapy, but not for the other subgroups. Conclusion: We identified a series of significant immune-inflammation-related and comorbidity-related clinicopathological factors associated with the prognosis of postoperative LSCC patients by local data from two tertiary care institutions in China, which can be helpful for patients and surgeons to pay more attention to nutrition, inflammation, and complications and finally obtained a better prognosis. A set of polyphenylene oxides incorporating DOPO (9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide) functionality, denoted as DOPO−R−PPO, was synthesized by copolymerization of 2,6-dimethylphenol (2,6-DMP) with various DOPO-substituted tetramethyl bisphenol monomers. In the initial step, a Friedel–Crafts acylation reaction was employed to react 2,6-DMP with different acyl chlorides, leading to the formation of ketone derivatives substituted with 2,6-dimethylphenyl groups. Subsequently, the ketones, along with DOPO and 2,6-DMP, underwent a condensation reaction to yield a series of DOPO-substituted bisphenol derivatives. Finally, polymerizations of 2,6-dimethylphenol with these DOPO-substituted bisphenols were carried out in organic solvents using copper(I) bromide/N-butyldimethylamine catalysts (CuBr/DMBA) under a continuous flow of oxygen, yielding telechelic PPO oligomers with DOPO moieties incorporated into the polymer backbone. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized using various analytical techniques, including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), phosphorus nuclear magnetic resonance (31P NMR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). When compared to conventional poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide)s with a similar molecular weight range, all DOPO−PPOs exhibited higher glass transition temperatures, enhanced thermal degradability, and increased char yield formation at 800 °C without compromising solubility in organic solvents. Alkali-activated slag cementitious material (AASCM) with manufactured sand can effectively utilise industrial waste slag and reduce river sand consumption. Steel fibres can effectively improve the mechanical properties of AASCM. Therefore, in this study, the influence of steel fibres and aggregate type on the compression and bending properties of AASCM after high-temperature treatment was investigated. The results show that the mass loss rate, compressive strength and flexural strength loss rate of AASCM with manufactured sand were higher than those with natural river sand at different temperatures. Steel fibres can increase the mass loss rate of AASCM; however, the influence of the steel fibre content on the mass loss of AASCM was not apparent. When the temperature was lower than 600°C, the compressive and flexural strength of AASCM was effectively increased by steel fibres, while, for temperatures higher than 800°C, the mechanical properties of AASCM did not improve, owing to the oxidation failure of steel fibres. Microstructure analysis showed that the number of microcracks in the AASCM increased, owing to the high silicon content of the manufactured sand, and the bond property between the steel fibres and cementitious materials decreased with an increase in temperature. (1) Background: Uremic pruritus (UP) is a common and taxing symptom in patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). We have previously shown that blood lead levels (BLLs) and blood aluminum levels (BALs) were separately positively associated with UP in MHD patients. We also found that blood cadmium levels (BCLs) were positively associated with all-cause mortality and cardiovascular-related mortality in MHD patients. We wondered whether there is any correlation between BCLs and UP after adjusting for BLLs and BALs. (2) Methods: Patients enrolled in this study were all from three hemodialysis (HD) centers at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Lin-Kou Medical Center, including both the Taipei and Taoyuan branches. Correlations between UP and BLLs, BALs, BCLs, and other clinical data were analyzed. (3) Results: Eight hundred and fifty-three patients were recruited. Univariate logistic regressions showed that diabetes mellitus, hepatitis B virus infection, hepatitis C virus infection, HD duration, hemodiafiltration, dialysis clearance of urea, normalized protein catabolic rate, non-anuria, serum albumin levels, log (intact-parathyroid hormone levels), total serum cholesterol levels, serum low-density lipoprotein levels, log (blood aluminum levels), and log (blood lead levels) were associated with UP. Although log BCLs were not significantly associated with UP (p = 0.136) in univariate analysis, we still included log BCLs in multivariate logistic regression to verify their effect on UP given that our aim in this study was to verify associations between serum heavy metals and UP. Multivariate logistic regressions showed that log BLLs (OR: 27.556, 95% CI: 10.912–69.587, p < 0.001) and log BALs (OR: 5.485, 95% CI: 2.985–10.079, p < 0.001) were positively associated with UP. The other logistic regression, which stratified BLLs and BALs into high and low BLLs and BALs, respectively, showed that high BLLs or high BALs (low BLLs and low BALs as reference) (OR: 3.760, 95% CI: 2.554–5.535, p < 0.001) and high BLLs and high BALs combined (low BLLs and low BALs as reference) (OR: 10.838, 95% CI: 5.381–21.828, p < 0.001) were positively correlated with UP. (4) Conclusions: BLLs and BALs were positively correlated with UP. BCLs were not correlated with UP. Traditional indirect georeferencing requires time-consuming and labor-intensive field surveys to obtain ground control points (GCPs), making it challenging to apply in high-risk areas with limited accessibility. This study proposes a novel and low-cost system for direct georeferencing using unmanned aerial system post-processing kinematics (UAS-PPK), which is less than a quarter of the price of commercially available products. To evaluate the accuracy of the aerial surveys of the custom-built module and digital surface models, we used 15 checkpoints (CPs) and 99 validation points (VPs). The results showed that this UAS-PPK module could deliver high-precision aerial surveys with a root mean square error (RMSE) of less than 4 cm for three dimensions without using control points. After adding one GCP, the RMSE of three dimensions was close to that of traditional aerial survey methods using 12 GCPs, having a vertical accuracy of 2.51 cm. The same 99 VPs were used to evaluate the accuracy of the digital surface model produced using UAS-PPK. The results showed that the accuracy was close to that of traditional aerial survey methods, having an average error of less than 3 cm. We demonstrated the self-made attachable UAS-PPK module to be a reliable and accurate survey tool in geoscience applications. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disease characterized by progressive muscle weakness with increased neuromechanical challenge and fall risks, especially during obstructed locomotion. This study aimed to identify the kinematic strategies for obstacle-crossing in DMD via synthesizing the changes in the joint kinematics and associated end-point control. Fourteen boys with DMD (age: 9.0 ± 2.5 years) and fourteen typically developed controls (age: 9.0 ± 2.8 years) each crossed obstacles of three different heights (10%, 20% and 30% of leg length) while the angular motions of the trunk-pelvis-leg apparatus and foot-obstacle clearances were measured. Two-way analyses of variance were used to analyze group and obstacle height effects. Compared to the controls, the DMD group crossed obstacles with significantly increased step width, but decreased crossing speed, crossing step length, trailing toe-obstacle clearance and leading heel-obstacle horizontal distance (p < 0.05). When the leading toe was above the obstacle, the patients showed significantly increased pelvic hiking, pelvic and trunk anterior tilt and ankle plantarflexion, but decreased hip flexion in both limbs (p < 0.05). Similar kinematic changes were found during trailing-limb crossing, except for an additional increase in swing-hip abduction and decrease in contralateral trunk side-bending and stance-knee flexion. Patients with DMD crossed obstacles via a specific kinematic strategy with altered end-point control, predisposing them to a greater risk of tripping during trailing-limb crossing. These results suggest that crossing kinematics in DMD should be monitored—especially in the proximal segments of the pelvis-leg apparatus—that may lead to an increased risk of falling. In this paper, we consider the prediction of the helium concentrations as function of a spatially variable source term perturbed by fractional Brownian motion. For the direct problem, we show that it is well-posed and has a unique mild solution under some conditions. For the inverse problem, the uniqueness and the instability are given. In the meanwhile, we determine the statistical properties of the source from the expectation and covariance of the final-time data u (r , T). Monitoring dynamic balance during gait is critical for fall prevention in the elderly. The current study aimed to develop recurrent neural network models for extracting balance variables from a single inertial measurement unit (IMU) placed on the sacrum during walking. Thirteen healthy young and thirteen healthy older adults wore the IMU during walking and the ground truth of the inclination angles (IA) of the center of pressure to the center of mass vector and their rates of changes (RCIA) were measured simultaneously. The IA, RCIA, and IMU data were used to train four models (uni-LSTM, bi-LSTM, uni-GRU, and bi-GRU), with 10% of the data reserved to evaluate the model errors in terms of the root-mean-squared errors (RMSEs) and percentage relative RMSEs (rRMSEs). Independent t-tests were used for between-group comparisons. The sensitivity, specificity, and Pearson's r for the effect sizes between the model-predicted data and experimental ground truth were also obtained. The bi-GRU with the weighted MSE model was found to have the highest prediction accuracy, computational efficiency, and the best ability in identifying statistical between-group differences when compared with the ground truth, which would be the best choice for the prolonged real-life monitoring of gait balance for fall risk management in the elderly. We study quantum hypothesis testing between orthogonal states under restricted local measurements in the many-copy scenario. For testing arbitrary multipartite entangled pure state against its orthogonal complement state via the local operation and classical communication (LOCC) operation, we prove that the optimal average error probability always decays exponentially in the number of copies. Second, we provide a sufficient condition for the LOCC operations to achieve the same performance as the positive-partial-transpose (PPT) operations. We further show that testing a maximally entangled state against its orthogonal complement and testing extremal Werner states both fulfill the above-mentioned condition. Hence, we determine the explicit expressions for the optimal average error probability, the optimal trade-off between the type-I and type-II errors, and the associated Chernoff, Stein, Hoeffding, and strong converse exponents. Then, we show an infinite asymptotic separation between the separable (SEP) and PPT operations by providing a pair of states constructed from an unextendible product basis (UPB). The quantum states can be distinguished perfectly by PPT operations, while the optimal error probability, with SEP operations, admits an exponential lower bound. On the technical side, we prove this result by providing a quantitative version of the well-known statement that the tensor product of UPBs is a UPB. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
