Magnetic two-dimensional (2D) materials have garnered significant attention due to their unique electronic, magnetic, and optical properties and their potential applications in next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices. However, the magneto-optical effects of oligolayer antiferromagnetic materials remain inadequately understood. Here, we investigate the magnetic properties of few-layer nickel phosphorus trisulfide (NiPS3) and its twisted heterostructures, emphasizing the observation of optical phenomena at low temperatures (1.65 K). By stacking few-layer NiPS3 to fabricate twisted homostructures, we probe their magnetic characteristics using photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. Our results reveal that sharp exciton peaks emerge at low temperatures and that the spin chain orientation in oligolayer NiPS3 can be discerned through the polarization dependence of exciton PL intensity. Notably, fewer-layered NiPS3 exhibits a significant magneto-optical effect under an applied magnetic field, allowing the modulation of the polarization angle of its exciton PL spectrum. Additionally, the polarization-dependent Raman spectrum of NiPS3 shows substantial changes under the influence of a magnetic field. Ultrasonic rolling is an effective technique for enhancing surface integrity, and surface integrity is closely related to fatigue performance. The process parameters of ultrasonic rolling critically affect the improvement of surface integrity. This study proposes an optimization method for process parameters by combining machine learning (ML) with the NSGA-II. Five ML models were trained to establish relationships between process parameters and surface residual stress, hardness, and surface roughness by incorporating feature augmentation and physical information. The best-performing model was selected and integrated with NSGA-II for multi-objective optimization. Ultrasonic rolling tests based on a uniform design were performed, and a dataset was established. The objective was to maximize surface residual stress and hardness while minimizing surface roughness. For test specimens with an initial surface roughness of 0.54 µm, the optimized process parameters were a static pressure of 900 N, a spindle speed of 75 rpm, a feed rate of 0.19 mm/r, and rolling once. Using optimized parameters, the surface residual stress reached −920.60 MPa, surface hardness achieved 958.23 HV, surface roughness reduced to 0.32 µm, and contact fatigue life extended to 3.02 × 107 cycles, representing a 52.5% improvement compared to untreated specimens and an even more significant improvement over without parameter optimization. Magnesium phosphate bone cement (MPBC) is a bone repair material that has been extensively studied. For better availability of clinical medicine, its degradation rate needs to be effectively controlled. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) has often been used as a drug carrier for controlled drug release. This property was utilized to influence the release kinetics of MPBC. This work investigated the degradation mechanism of MPBC controlled by HPMC. It was found that MPBC samples with 3 wt. % HPMC had the optimal properties. In this case, the setting time was 11 min and the maximum strength was 63.9 ± 2.5 MPa. The study found HPMC primarily controlled the degradation of MPBC hydration products via the combined actions of gradual diffusion, and release of MPBC hydration products, which subsequently caused the swelling, corrosion, and dissolution of the HPMC skeleton. Besides, the results showed that HPMC‐modified MPBC has good bioactivity, which is beneficial to bone repair. Measuring and extracting abrasive grains on the entire surface of monolayer brazing grinding wheels to analyze the distribution of abrasive grains are of great significance to grinding research and grinding wheel manufacture. It is not easy to carry out the work with traditional methods. In this paper, a linear CCD is used to acquire the entire grinding wheel surface image, and an improved encoder–decoder network based on Efficientnet, ASPP, and Skip Connections is designed to promote the accuracy and speed of abrasive grains prediction. Based on dataset creation, transfer learning, and hyper-parameter testing, 91.21% abrasive grain semantic segmentation accuracy was finally obtained. If we focus on whether the abrasive grains are recognized without considering semantic errors, an accuracy rate of 99.6% is obtained. The grinding grooves of material removal machining and the residues of a machining tool on the key component surface cause surface stress concentration. Thus, it is critical to carry out precise measurements on the key component surface to evaluate the stress concentration. Based on white-light interferometry (WLI), we studied the measurement distortion caused by the reflected light from the steep side of the grinding groove being unable to return to the optical system for imaging. A threshold value was set to eliminate the distorted measurement points, and the cubic spline algorithm was used to interpolate the eliminated points for compensation. The compensation result agrees well with the atomic force microscope (AFM) measurement result. However, for residues on the surface, a practical method was established to obtain a microscopic 3D micro-topography point cloud and a super-depth-of-field fusion image simultaneously. Afterward, the semantic segmentation network U-net was adopted to identify the residues in the super-depth-of-field fusion image and achieved a recognition accuracy of 91.06% for residual identification. Residual feature information, including height, position, and size, was obtained by integrating the information from point clouds and super-depth-of-field fusion images. BACKGROUND Alginate oligosaccharides (AOS), with various physiological effects, have been widely used in the food, agricultural, and pharmaceutical industries. The biological enzymatic method of preparing AOS, using alginate lyase, has more advantages compared with physical and chemical methods. Cloning and heterologously expressing alginate lyase are therefore very important. RESULTS: A novel alginate lyase, BY17PV7, from Microbulbifer sp. BY17, isolated from Gracilaria, was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3). BY17PV7 was about 27 KDa. BY17PV7 showed the greatest activity (150.42 ± 3.32 U/mg) at 43 °C and pH 8.9. It could be activated by Ca2+, Mn2+, Co2+, Fe3+, Na+, and inhibited by Mg2+, Zn2+, Ba2+, Cu2+, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA). BY17PV7 had a wide range of substrate specificity and good degradation effects for poly β‐D‐mannuronate (polyM) and poly α‐L‐guluronate (polyG), demonstrating that it is a bifunctional alginate lyase. The kinetic parameters showed that BY17PV7 had a greater affinity for polyG. BY17PV7 released AOS with a degree of polymerization (DP) of 3–4 in an endolytic manner from sodium alginate. Alginate oligosaccharides showed strong antioxidant ability of reducing Fe3+ and scavenging radicals such as hydroxyl, 2,2‐azion‐bia (3‐ethylbenzo‐thiazoline‐6‐sulfonic acid diammonium salt) (ABTS) and 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). In recent years, more and more metal or non-metal materials have been used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, but the vascular complications after transplantation are still the main factors restricting the clinical application of most grafts, such as acute thrombosis and graft restenosis. Implant materials have been extensively designed and surface optimized by researchers, but it is still too difficult to avoid complications. Natural vascular endodermis has excellent function, anti-coagulant and anti-intimal hyperplasia, and it is also the key to maintaining the homeostasis of normal vascular microenvironment. Therefore, how to promote the adhesion of endothelial cells (ECs) on the surface of cardiovascular materials to achieve endothelialization of the surface is the key to overcoming the complications after implant materialization. At present, the surface endothelialization design of materials based on materials surface science, bioactive molecules, and biological function intervention and feedback has attracted much attention. In this review, we summarize the related research on the surface modification of materials by endothelialization in recent years, and analyze the advantages and challenges of current endothelialization design ideas, explain the relationship between materials, cells, and vascular remodeling in order to find a more ideal endothelialization surface modification strategy for future researchers to meet the requirements of clinical biocompatibility of cardiovascular materials. Background: Radiation-induced pulmonary fibrosis (RIPF) is a serious complication in patients treated with transthoracic irradiation. To date, there are no effective drugs for RIPF treatment. In this study, we attempted to explore the function of miR-761 in RIPF, further investigate its potential mechanism and evaluate its effectiveness in the treatment of RIPF. Methods: qRT-PCR analysis was used to detect miR-761 and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARg) coactivator-1 (PGC-1α) expression. Western Blot (WB) assay was applied to verify the regulation of PGC-1α by miR-761 and the expression of fibrosis-related proteins. Gel contraction assay was performed to demonstrate the level of fibroblast activation in vitro. A mouse RIPF model was used to validate the anti-fibrotic effect of Antagomir761. Bioinformatics analysis and dual-luciferase reporter assays were utilized to confirm the regulation relationship between miR-761 and PGC-1α. Results: The results showed that miR-761 was significantly elevated in irradiated mice lungs and fibroblasts. Overexpression of miR-761 in vitro promoted fibroblast activation. Whereas inhibition of miR-761 attenuated the degree of RIPF and inhibited fibroblast activation. Mechanistically, PGC-1α was a direct and functional target of miR-761, overexpression of PGC-1α inhibited irradiation-induced fibroblast activation, and knockdown of PGC-1α caused miR-761 inhibitor loses its anti-activation ability in irradiated cells. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that miR-761 regulated RIPF by targeting PGC-1α. Inhibition of miR-761 restored PGC-1α expression and attenuated RIPF damage, and miR-761 was a potential target for preventing the development of RIPF. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since small objects occupy less pixels in the image and are difficult to recognize. Small object detection has always been a research difficulty in the field of computer vision. Aiming at the problems of low sensitivity and poor detection performance of YOLOv3 for small objects. AFYOLO, which is more sensitive to small objects detection was proposed in this paper. Firstly, the DenseNet module is introduced into the low-level layers of backbone to enhance the transmission ability of objects information. At the same time, a new mechanism combining channel attention and spatial attention is introduced to improve the feature extraction ability of the backbone. Secondly, a new feature pyramid network (FPN) is proposed to better obtain the features of small objects. Finally, ablation studies on ImageNet classification task and MS-COCO object detection task verify the effectiveness of the proposed attention module and FPN. The results on Wider Face datasets show that the AP of the proposed method is 11.89%higher than that of YOLOv3 and 8.59%higher than that of YOLOv4. Soil moisture content (SMC) acquisition is vital for crop stress diagnosis and precision irrigation. However, UAV remote sensing-based SMC monitoring usually suffers from low accuracy and spatio-temporal applicability. To address these issues, this study integrated crop physiological spectral response features into an ensemble learning model. A two-year field experiment (2022–2023) was conducted. First, fractional-order differentiation (FOD) and continuous wavelet transform (CWT) were used to enhance the responsiveness of summer maize canopy spectra to SMC and leaf physiological parameters (LPPs), including leaf area index (LAI), leaf chlorophyll content (LCC) and leaf water content (LWC). Afterwards, variable importance in projection (VIP) was adopted to characterize the spectral response properties of each parameter. Finally, a stacked ensemble learning model (SELM) based on Bayesian optimization (BO) was used to construct a SMC monitoring model, and the feasibility of fusing LPP spectral response features for SMC monitoring was evaluated. The results indicated that: (1) Changes in SMC had significant effect on LCC and LAI of summer maize, which in T4 (with field water-holding capacity of 80 %-95 %) were 14.07 % and 34.41 % higher than that in T1 (40 %-50 %), respectively. (2) Spectral transformation could significantly enhance the correlation between SMC and LPPs with canopy spectra (the average increase of R reached 0.23). (3) Consideration of the crop physiology spectral response could improve the SMC monitoring accuracy, the LCC-FOD-BO-SELM had excellent monitoring performance (R²= 0.78; RMSE = 0.019). The monitoring model fusing LPPs spectral response features had the highest accuracy (R²= 0.81; RMSE = 0.016). (4) BO could significantly reduce the overfitting problem of the monitoring model, with the maximum difference between the R2 of the training and test set after BO being only 0.01), thus improving the model's generalizability. The frequent occurrence of various sudden natural disasters in the world has caused heavy losses to human beings. It is very important to forecast the demand of emergency materials in order to protect people's safety and property. The purpose of this study is to use IACO-BP algorithm to forecast the demand of emergency supplies in the case of flood disaster. In this study, the flood disaster situation in recent years published by the Ministry of Water Resources of China is selected as the experimental data set. The data are sorted and analyzed by a variety of theoretical comprehensive operation, qualitative and quantitative research method, analytic hierarchy process and system dynamics method. The improved ant colony optimization algorithm is used to model the emergency material demand, and the population, flood level, flood level of the disaster area are analyzed. As the network input, the material situation outputs the material demand, so as to forecast. The results show that the iteration times of IACO-BP algorithm are 11 and the running time is 3S. The fluctuation of IACO-BP algorithm is the least and the most stable among the three algorithms. The material satisfaction degree predicted by IACO-BP algorithm is improved by 15% from the original 80.9%. It is concluded that this algorithm is very accurate and efficient in the prediction of emergency material demand, which can better assist the disaster situation. In view of the large amount of fuzzy information in fuzzy optimization, fuzzy criterion recognition, and fuzzy grouping, based on the generalized fuzzy distance and fuzzy number, this paper proposes a multiobjective fuzzy theory-based comprehensive evaluation and optimization model of fire planning for major hazard sources. The results show that hotel fire risks tend to be higher, which is the focus of people's attention. Among the fire hazards, wholesale, retail, and catering industries are the hardest hit areas, accounting for 66.3%, and some other industries are also disaster areas that need to be dealt with. Purpose: A high-precision gyroscope is an important tool for accurate positioning, and the amplitude stability and frequency tracking ability of the drive control system are important and necessary conditions to ensure the precision of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) gyroscopes. To improve the precision of MEMS gyroscopes, this paper proposes a method to improve the amplitude stability and frequency tracking ability of a drive control system. Design/methodology/approach: A frequency tracking loop and an amplitude control loop are proposed to improve the frequency tracking ability and amplitude stability of the drive control system for a MEMS gyroscopes. The frequency tracking loop mainly includes a phase detector, a frequency detector and a loop filter. And, the amplitude control loop mainly includes an amplitude detector, a low-pass filter and an amplitude control module. The simulation studies on the frequency tracking loop, amplitude control loop and drive control system composed of these two loops are implemented. The corresponding digital drive control algorithm is realized by the Verilog hardware description language, which is downloaded to the application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) platform to verify the performances of the proposed method. Findings: The simulation experiments in Matlab/Simulink and tests on the ASIC platform verify that the designed drive control system can keep the amplitude stable and track the driving frequency in real time with high precision. Purpose: As the limited energy of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), energy-efficient data-gathering algorithms are required. This paper proposes a compressive data-gathering algorithm based on double sparse structure dictionary learning (DSSDL). The purpose of this paper is to reduce the energy consumption of WSNs. Design/methodology/approach: The historical data is used to construct a sparse representation base. In the dictionary-learning stage, the sparse representation matrix is decomposed into the product of double sparse matrices. Then, in the update stage of the dictionary, the sparse representation matrix is orthogonalized and unitized. The finally obtained double sparse structure dictionary is applied to the compressive data gathering in WSNs. Findings: The dictionary obtained by the proposed algorithm has better sparse representation ability. The experimental results show that, the sparse representation error can be reduced by at least 3.6% compared with other dictionaries. In addition, the better sparse representation ability makes the WSNs achieve less measurement times under the same accuracy of data gathering, which means more energy saving. According to the results of simulation, the proposed algorithm can reduce the energy consumption by at least 2.7% compared with other compressive data-gathering methods under the same data-gathering accuracy. The goal of this work is to design high-resolution, high-contrast and robust MV adaptive beamforming algorithms, which are also implemented in real-time frame rate. Multi-operator optimization is introduced into MV adaptive beamforming in this work to propose a multi-operator MV adaptive beamforming algorithmic optimization framework. Based on the proposed algorithmic optimization framework, the algorithm optimization can be either conducted by activating a single optimization operator, or conducted by activating multiple optimization operators. The multi-operator MV (MOMV) adaptive beamforming algorithms are then derived from this framework. Moreover, in order to promote the real-time imaging capability of MOMV beamforming, a GPU-based parallel acceleration framework is proposed along with the algorithmic optimization framework by exploring the image-level coarse-grained parallelization and pixel-level fine-grained parallelization. GPU computing resource allocation strategy and memory access strategy are both explored to better design the acceleration framework. Comprehensive quantitative simulation evaluations and qualitative in vivo experiments of imaging performance are studied, and the results demonstrate that the proposed MOMV adaptive beamforming algorithms significantly improve the imaging performance as compared with other MV beamforming algorithms, which have high resolution, high contrast, good robustness, and real-time imaging capability with thousands of acceleration speedup. Furthermore, the MOMV beamforming algorithm without eigen-decomposition and projection optimization operator achieves much higher beamforming frame rate with little downgrade of image quality as compared with the MOMV beamforming algorithm with all optimization operators. The grain geometrical features of grinding wheels are critically important to evaluate their quality and grinding performance. Therefore, grain geometrical features should be comprehensively and systematically characterized. Such characterization parameters were defined from the geometric features of individual grains (for each grain) to the distribution features of grains (for a group of grains on a given wheel surface) on the basis of grain cross-sections. For each grain, characterization parameters included cross-section area, equivalent diameter, volume, and sharpness ratio of the grain. For a group of grains, the characterization parameters were distribution density, cross-section area, cross-section area-supporting rate, and volume proportion of the grains on a sectioning depth. The cross-sections of grains were extracted from the section-scanning images captured by an optical measurement system. A system based on optical vertical scanning using a narrow depth of field microscope was adopted to obtain the optical sectioning images, and the grain cross-section boundaries on each image were extracted through an image-processing program. The defined characterization parameters, vertical sectioning step, and sectioning numbers were calculated efficiently. A monolayer brazed grinding wheel with a grain size of 425–500 μm was selected for an experiment. The individual and group parameters, such as sharpness or strength, active volume, or area-supporting ratio, of grains were used for performance analysis. Experimental results indicated that the proposed parameters based on grain cross-sections are not only efficient to calculate but also effective to characterize the geometric features of grains for monolayer brazed grinding wheels. Radiation-induced skin injury is a common side effect of radiotherapy, but there are few therapeutic drugs available for prevention or treatment. In this study, we demonstrate that 18β-Glycyrrhetinic acid (18β-GA), a bioactive component derived from Glycyrrhiza glabra, substantially reduces the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibits apoptosis in HaCaT cells after ionizing radiation (IR), thereby mitigating radiation-induced skin injury. Mechanistically, 18β-GA promotes the nuclear import of Nrf2, leading to activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway in response to IR. Importantly, Nrf2 silencing increases cell apoptosis and reverse the protective effect of 18β-GA on radiation-induced skin injury. Furthermore, 18β-GA preserves skin tissue structure after irradiation, inhibits inflammatory cell infiltration, and alleviates radiation dermatitis. In conclusion, our results suggest that 18β-GA reduces intracellular ROS production and apoptosis by activating the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway, leading to amelioration of radiation dermatitis. 2D moiré superlattices offer a versatile platform for manipulating quantum materials, exploiting their spatially varying atomic registry to modify electronic structures, resulting in the emergence of flat electronic minibands, enhanced electronic interactions, and the onset of novel quantum phenomena. Despite extensive investigations into moiré excitons within twisted bilayer moiré superlattices, the interplay between moiré superlattices and optical microcavities remains elusive. Here, a WSe2 homobilayer with a small twist angle positioned on optical microcavities atop a SiO2 (285 nm)/Si substrate is investigated. Utilizing low‐temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, it is observed that the twisted homobilayer at the edge of the optical cavity (Edge‐THB) exhibits enhanced localization of moiré excitons and a deeper moiré potential. This behavior is attributed to the combined influence of strain induced by the optical microcavity structure on the moiré superlattice and the amplification of the electromagnetic field. Furthermore, the existence of moiré excitons through a comprehensive analysis, encompassing temperature‐dependent PL spectra, circularly polarized PL spectra, and Landé g‐factor measurements for Edge‐THB is validated. These findings provide valuable insights into the intricate interaction between moiré superlattices and optical microcavities, paving the way for future applications in quantum technologies. Nitrogen is an essential nutrient in crop growth cycle and directly affects the photosynthesis of crops. The leaf chlorophyll content (LCC) and leaf area index (LAI) are important for characterizing photosynthetic capacity of crops and are critical indicators for diagnosing nitrogen status of crops. Hyperspectral remote sensing technology provided a means to achieve crop LCC and LAI estimation. However, the redundancy of spectral data and canopy structure effect can cause poor robustness of the estimating models, further hindering the development and application of estimating models across different crop species. In this study, a method based on incremental learning was proposed for the simultaneous estimation of LCC and LAI, and for nitrogen diagnosis across crops. First, for the spectral dataset generated by the PROSAIL model, a deep neural network was used to construct LCC and LAI estimation models (called DNNCA model). Secondly, for the hyperspectral data collected from field crops (soybean, canola and wheat), incremental learning using regularization (LwF algorithm) was used to update the DNNCA model parameters. Finally, the dilution curve model based on the LCC-LAI anisotropic growth relationship was developed to assess crop nitrogen status. The results showed that: (1) The constrained bi-objective optimizated DNNCA model can consider the interactive effect of LAI and LCC on spectral reflectance, and achieved reliable estimation on PROSAIL simulation data set (LAI:R2 = 0.82, RMSE = 0.77 m2/m2; LCC:R2 = 0.91, RMSE = 6.4 ug/cm2). (2) By incremental learning, DNNCA model has continuous learning capability and stable estimation on cross-crop (canola, soybean and wheat) field-measured data (LAI:R2 = 0.64–0.82, RMSE = 0.58–1.02 m2/m2; LCC:R2 = 0.56–0.82, RMSE = 3.9–10.5 ug/cm2). (3) The relationship between the NNI LCC and the NNI LNC was significant. The NNI LCC derived from the anisotropy relationship between crop LAI and LCC was an effective tool for crop nitrogen status diagnosis. (4) The process of crop LAI, LCC and NNI LCC reflected the effect of water and nitrogen supply on crop growth. The appropriate water-nitrogen treatments contributed to LAI increase and LCC accumulation. Abstract Hypoxia frequently occurs in solid tumors, hepatocellular carcinoma included. Hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) upregulated in hypoxia can induce various downstream target genes to resist hypoxia stress, resulting in tumor growth, angiogenesis and metastasis in vivo. Therefore, hypoxia associated genes are usually cancer progression associated genes and can be potential therapy targets for cancer therapy. In our present work, we find that the hypoxia-inducible transcriptional factor, HIF1α, can directly upregulate the expression of the gene Ctnnd2 , which codes the protein δ-Catenin. Then, δ-Catenin can stabilize β-Catenin by disrupting the destruction complex, which leads to the activation of Wnt signaling. As a result, δ-Catenin can promote the proliferation and migration of HCC cells in vitro, further enhance mice HCC tumorigenesis in vivo. In summary, our work reveals that δ-Catenin is a direct downstream target gene of HIF1α. It can activate Wnt signaling via β-Catenin stabilization. δ-Catenin can enhance HCC progression. Objective: To analyze and evaluate the overall diagnostic value of Serum Human Epididymis Protein 4 (HE4) in ovarian cancer.Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases to collect articles in English that evaluated the diagnostic value of HE4 in patients with gynecological or pelvic masses. Two reviewers independently assessed the methodological quality of each study using the QUADAS-2 tool. A chart of literature quality was made using Revman 5.3 software. Finally, we built Summary Receiver Operating Characteristic (SROC) curves, Hierarchical Summary Receiver Operating Characteristic (HSROC) models, a Deek's funnel figure as well as a meta-analysis of included studies using STATA12.0 and Meta-Disc1.4 software.Results: Eighteen studies from the published literature met all inclusion criteria for this analysis. Remarkably, no publication bias was found among the included studies. HE4 had a pooled sensitivity of 81% (95% confidence interval (CI): 77-85) and a pooled specificity of 91% (95% CI: 86-93,). Overall, the positive likelihood ratio (PLR) was 8.2, (95% CI: 5.60-12.00,) the negative likelihood ratio (NLR) was 0.21 (95% CI: 0.17-0.26), the diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) was 39 (95% CI: 25-62), the AUC of SROC was 0.91, and Cochrane-Q value was 86.02.Conclusions: HE4 is a valuable marker in the clinical diagnosis of ovarian cancer with both high AUC and Cochrane-Q. Herein, we report the preparation of a yolk-shell Co-CeO 2 octahedron and the strategy for surface defect engineering to optimize the photocatalyst by two-step calcination of a Ce-based metal–organic framework (Ce-UiO-66). As a result of the synergistic effect of incorporating the Co atom and rich oxygen vacancies, the energy barrier of activating and transforming the adsorbed CO 2 to *COOH is significantly reduced. Benefiting from the structure with high surface area, cavity, and abundant defects, the optimized Co-CeO 2 photocatalyst not only provides more exposed active sites and enhanced photoabsorption but also improves charge separation and transfer. In the DNA microarray research field, the increasing sample size and feature dimension of the gene expression data prompt the development of an efficient and robust feature selection algorithm for gene expression data classification. In this study, we propose a hybrid feature selection algorithm that combines the mutual information maximization (MIM) and the adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA). Experimental results show that the proposing MIMAGA-Selection method significantly reduces the dimension of gene expression data and removes the redundancies for classification. The reduced gene expression dataset provides highest classification accuracy compared to conventional feature selection algorithms. HPV-16 long control region (LCR) has been shown to be the most variable region of the HPV-16 genome and may play important roles in viral persistence and the development of cervical cancer. This study aimed to assess the risk of HPV-16 LCR variants for cervical cancer in women of Southwest China. 2146 cervical scrapings of volunteer outpatients and 74 cervical cancer tissues were screened.14 entire HPV-16 LCRs from asymptomatic carriers and 34 entire HPV-16 LCRs from cervical cancer patients were successfully amplified and sequenced to align to others described. 58 different point mutations were detected in 54 nucleotide sites of HPV-16 LCR. G7193T and G7521A variants, accounting for 100% of the infections, were predicted to locate at the binding site for FOXA1 and SOX9, respectively. A7730C variant which showed a high mutation frequency in cervical cancer was predicted to be a binding site for the cellular transcription factor PHOX2A. In addition, phylogenetic analysis displayed a high prevalence of A lineage in HPV-16 LCR in this Southwest China population. This study may help understanding of the intrinsic geographical relatedness and the correlations between LCR mutations and the development of carcinogenic lesions in Southwest China population. Iron-based MOFs with tunable structure, large surface area along with attractive diversity have been often used in heterogeneous Fenton-like reactions to generate hydroxyl groups for the degradation of new pollutants. It is unclear how linker substituents of MIL-101 with MTN-typed topology influence the heterogeneous Fenton. Solvothermal methods were used to successfully synthesize a series of MIL-101-X(Fe) with various substituents (X = -H, –NH 2 , –OH and –OCH 3) in the side chains of organic ligands. Their physicochemical properties are fully investigated by various characterizations, which confirmed that changes in the substituents affected crystal morphology and thus catalytic efficiency. In the Fenton system, MIL-101-X showed significant differences in antibiotics removal. Particularly, the MIL-101-NH 2 exhibited 100 % removal of SMX within 70 mins, with a rate of 30.06 times faster than MIL-101-H. This was related to the change in the active surface, following ligand functionalization, which greatly facilitates the dissociation of H 2 O 2 and accelerates the iron cycling process. Therefore, this study provides the first mechanistic foresight on the regulation of Fenton-like reactions through modifying the substituents in the side chain of MOFs to alter their particle morphology and active surface. Two-dimensional (2D) organic–inorganic hybrid perovskites, especially Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskites, have attracted great interest in recent years due to their potential applications in the fields of optoelectronics and photovoltaics. In this work, the effects of laser irradiation on the optical emission of a PEA 2 MA 2 Pb 3 I 10 thin film (PTF) were systematically investigated by using 488-nm continuous wave laser light and 400-nm femtosecond laser light as the excitation sources. It was found that the photoluminescence (PL) intensity of a PTF increases rapidly with irradiation time and becomes saturated after some time, which is ascribed to the passivation of the defects near the surface of the PTF through the interaction with oxygen. A large redshift of the PL wavelength from ∼ 625 to ∼ 750 nm was realized by simply increasing the laser power. It was suggested that the decomposition of PEA 2 MA 2 Pb 3 I 10 into MAPbI 3 is responsible for this behavior. The excitation efficiency was improved while the threshold laser power for the decomposition was lowered by constructing a particle-on-film system with a silica microsphere. In this way, the blueshift of the PL wavelength from ∼ 750 to ∼ 520 nm, which is attributed to the further decomposition of MAPbI 3 into PbI 2 , was achieved. The experimental design method is a pivotal factor for the reliability of the parameters estimation in the discrete choice model. The traditional orthogonal design is used widely, but insufficient empirical research has been conducted on the effectiveness of these new design methods. Several new experimental design methods, such as D-efficient, Bayesian D-efficient, have been proposed recently. This study finds that the D-adoption has statistically insignificant effect on the growth of productivity. This study is motivated by the lack of documented evidence on the effect of Chinese ESOS. This study contributes to the body of knowledge by documenting evidence on the impact of ESOS on productivity enhancement and earnings management practices. The existing literature on productivity effect and earnings management effect of ESOS falls under two isolated strands of research. No documented studies have been done to investigate these two issues simultaneously using the same dataset. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which are known as a class of porous coordination polymers, have proven to be of great significance to manifold applications, owing to their fascinating topology, ultrahigh porosity, enormous internal surface area, and the combination of being as rigid as inorganic materials and as flexible as organic materials . In this review, we give a concise history of the development of MOFs as functional materials prior to our entry into this area in 2006, then a summary of our road to participate in and extend the outline of the research in MOFs chemistry, as well as the challenge in further designing applicable functional materials. We describe not only the road of evolution from the past, present, and future of this chemistry, but also the road to finalize a functional material from the desire to the design, synthesis, and postmodification of a MOF. Throughout the review, we particularly emphasize the improvements in the application of MOFs as heterogeneous catalysts, such as employing MOFs as one component for the construction of composites, and their extended scope in tough catalytic reactions. In this paper, we propose a low-rank matrix completion and cellular automaton model to effectively exploit the nonlocal inter-pixel correlation for image interpolation and enhancement applications. Different from tasks such as image denoising, in image interpolation and colour demosaicking, the many visually unpleasant artefacts (for example, ringing effects and zipper artefacts) are generally fine scale structures and lead to small singular values of the data matrix, and therefore, we propose to use L0-norm, instead of the relaxed L1-norm, to regularise the singular values so that the fine scale artefacts can be effectively removed without affecting the large-scale image edges. The entire framework can be applied for extended matrix arrangement. We also incorporate a cellular automaton model with inter-pixel correlations and extend it for image interpolation. Experimental results show that the proposed method produces reasonably good results as compared with state-of-the-arts in terms of both peak signal-to-noise ratio measure and subjective visual quality. TNF-alpha plays an important role in the development of secondary lymphoid tissues. Earlier studies showed that fibroblastic reticular cells express TNF-alpha receptor, suggesting that TNF-alpha may affect the development of FRCs. To test this, we analyzed the development and function of FRCs in wild-type or TNF-alpha knockout mice. We found that GP38 expression was down-regulated in the spleen of TNF-alpha knockout mice. Chemokines, mainly secreted by GP38 + FRCs, were also down-regulated. Additionally, we found that absence of TNF-alpha decreased the homing ability to direct T cells to the spleen. However, absence of TNF-alpha did not affect the development of lymph nodes FRCs. These data reveal that TNF-alpha plays an important role in the development of spleen FRCs. Purpose: To investigate the effects of miR-1246 on proliferation, invasion, and migration in the human (CSCC) cell line SiHa. Methods: SiHa cells were assigned into three groups: miR-1246 analog; miR-1246 antagonist; and control. The MTT, transwell, and wound healing assays were performed to evaluate the proliferation, invasion, and migration abilities of SiHa cells, respectively. Western blot was carried out to detect protein expression of thrombospondin-2 (THBS2) before and after transfection with miR-1246 analog, antagonist, or control. In addition, a THBS2 3′-UTR-containing dual luciferase plasmid was generated and co-transfected with miR-1246, the inhibitor, or non-specific miRNA, into SiHa cells to observe its effects on THBS2-driven luciferase enzyme activity. Results: MTT, transwell, and wound healing assays revealed that proliferation, migration, and invasion were all significantly enhanced ( P < 0.01) in SiHa cells transfected with miR-1246 analog, but were suppressed in those transfected with the miR-1246 antagonist. Western blot data showed that miR-1246 analog-transfected SiHa cells had significantly decreased THBS2 expression when compared with control-transfected cells (gray value = 6.28 ± 10.22 vs. 9.58 ± 17.58; P = 0.013) while those transfected with the miR-1246 antagonist had significantly increased THBS2 expression (gray value = 12.90 ± 19.81; P = 0.037). Moreover, SiHa cells co-transfected with miR-1246 and the THBS2 3′-UTR-containing plasmid exhibited decreased luciferase enzyme activity compared with the control. Conclusion: MiR-1246 induced CSCC SiHa cell proliferation, invasion and migration. Soil moisture and salinity are both important environmental variables for crop growth in agricultural production areas. Optical remote-sensing datasets from different sensors are available for estimating soil moisture and salinity from different spatial-temporal scales. Given the co-regulation of soil spectral reflectance (SR) by soil moisture and salinity, the simultaneous estimation of moisture and salinity in saline soil may result in great bias and uncertainty. To address this problem, soil samples were collected in the salinized area during irrigation. Synchronously, processed multi-spectral images were acquired from Sentinel-2 satellite. The spectrum mechanism responsive to soil moisture and salinity was verified by statistical tests, and its corresponding mathematical model (MSS model) was developed to identify the dominant factors affecting SR and to inverse moisture and salinity. The result showed that the effects of moisture and salinity were temporally constant (facilitation) and changing (from inhibition to facilitation), respectively, during the irrigation stages. The dominant factors in the variation of SR shifted from salinity and moisture-salinity interaction to moisture. Reliable accuracy was achieved in the moisture and salinity estimation using inverse MSS model. The profile from the series of estimations can further reveal the dynamic changes of soil moisture and salinity content during irrigation, and provide guidance for local irrigation management. • MSS model simulates response of soil spectrum to soil moisture and salinity. • Inverse MSS model achieves the simultaneous estimation at regional scale. • Spatial-temporal change of soil moisture and salinity is observed during irrigation. • Land-vegetation alternation causes soil salt aggregation in crop field. Background: Gliomas are highly refractory intracranial cancers characterized by genetic and transcriptional heterogeneity. However, therapeutic options are limited. In the last years, copper‐induced cell death is becoming a prospective treatment strategy for gliomas and other solid tumors, but copper metabolism‐related genes associated with cancer development remain unclear. Methods: We first collected gene expression data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to identify significantly differentially expressed copper metabolism‐related genes in gliomas. Using these genes, we performed COX regression and Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression to construct the prognostic model. The prognostic value of the model was further validated by CGGA testing set. Subsequently, functional analyses were carried out, including gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), immune infiltration analysis, and mutation analysis. Finally, the expression levels of these genes were verified by immunohistochemical analysis. Results: The prognostic model consisted of 7 genes: CDK1, LOXL2, LOXL3, NFE2L2, SLC31A1, SUMF1 and FDX1. According to this prognosis model, glioma patients could be split into the high‐risk group or low‐risk group, and the low‐risk group showed significantly better prognostic survival (p < 0.001). Moreover, the high‐risk group had higher levels of immune cell infiltration, immune checkpoint genes expression, and higher tumor mutational burden (TMB), which indicates that they might benefit more from immunotherapy. Finally, we confirmed the expression level of FDX1, SUMF1, and SLC31A1 protein as significantly different in glioblastoma, lower‐grade glioma, and non‐tumor brain tissues by immunohistochemical analysis, and the high expression of FDX1 and SLC31A1 protein was related to poor survival in glioma patients. For the first time, in the current work, a dynamic stability analysis of a tilted curved pipe in a supersonic airflow under thermal loading is presented. The heat-transfer continuum problem is used for simulating the thermal environment conditions. The tilted pipe is reinforced by carbon nanotube agglomerations (CNTAs). For simulating the displacement fields of the current structure, Quasi-2D refined high order shear deformation theory is studied. The verification segment is divided into two parts. In the first and second sections, the credibility of the results of this study are confirmed by the results extracted using COMSOL multiphysics software and published articles in the literature, respectively. The results show that Mach number, hydrodynamic pressure, temperature change, yaw angle, and geometry properties of the current structure have a significant impact on the frequency information of the tilted curved pipe reinforced by CNTAs in supersonic airflow. One of the presented results is that the effects from volume fraction of clusters in the representative value element, amount of CNTs located outside the clusters, and the highest value related to the volume fraction of the CNT, parameters on the supersonic airflow characteristics of the system are more considerable at the higher value of the length to radius ratio of the pipe. Using solar energy through green and simple artificial photosynthesis systems are considered as a promising way to solve the energy and environmental crisis. However, one of the important primary steps of photosynthesis, i.e., energy transfer, is long being ignored especially in inorganic semiconducting systems due to the small exciton binding energies. Herein, the simultaneous interrogation of the charge transfer and energy transfer steps in a photoexcitation process is proposed by utilizing few‐layered nanosheet‐assembled hierarchical BiOBr nanotubes with rich oxygen vacancies (OVs) as efficient multifunctional photocatalysts. Benefiting from the integrated 1D/2D structure and abundant OV defects, the excitonic effect strikes a delicate balance in the optimized BiOBr photocatalyst, showing not only improved charge carrier separation and transfer but also enhanced exciton generation. As a result, the hierarchical BiOBr nanotubes exhibit high efficiency toward photocatalytic CO2 reduction with an impressive CO evolution rate of 135.6 µmol g−1 h−1 without cocatalyst or photosensitizer. The dominant reactive oxygen species of singlet oxygen (1O2) are discriminated for the first time, which originated from an energy transfer process, with electrophilic character, whereas the minor effect of superoxide anion radical (•O2−) with a nucleophilic rate‐determining step in the photocatalytic aerobic oxidation of sulfides. Background. We wished to evaluate the clinical remission rate and long-term efficacy of tonsillectomy for patients with IgA nephropathy.Methods. We searched a number of databases, including PubMed, CNKI, Wanfang and others, for clinical case–control studies of tonsillectomy in patients with IgA nephropathy. We then performed a meta-analysis of these studies. After evaluating total clinical remission rates, we compared the remission rates for specific treatments: tonsillectomy plus steroid pulse, tonsillectomy plus normal-dose steroid, and general treatment using neither tonsillectomy nor steroids. We also compared the rates of end-stage renal failure (ESRF) at last follow-up to estimate the long-term renal survival rate associated with each treatment.Results. Seven retrospective studies met the inclusion criteria and were included. These included a total of 858 patients, in which 534 underwent tonsillectomy and 324 did not. The total clinical remission rate was higher in the operative group, while the ESRF rate was higher in the non-operative group. The clinical remission rate in patients who underwent tonsillectomy remained higher than in the non-operative group at both 5- and 10-year follow-up. The clinical remission rate in patients who underwent tonsillectomy plus steroid pulse was higher than in those treated with steroid pulse alone, normal-dose steroids or general treatment alone (P < 0.05). However, the clinical remission rate of simple tonsillectomy was not higher than that of general treatment (P > 0.05).Conclusions. Whereas neither tonsillectomy nor steroid treatment alone increased remission rates in patients with IgA nephropathy, tonsillectomy combined with either normal steroid or steroid pulse treatment resulted in higher remission rates with favourable long-term efficacy. Blood-contact devices are prone to inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, coagulation, and the uncontrolled release of metal ions during implantation and service. Therefore, it is essential to make these multifunctional. Herein, a superhydrophobic DE@ZnS-ZnO@SA film (composed of dabigatran ester, zinc sulfite, zinc oxide, and stearic acid, respectively) is produced. The prepared film has non-adhesion and antibacterial properties, superior mechanical stability, durability, corrosion resistance, and is self-cleaning and blood-repellent. The results of the hemolysis, cytotoxicity, and other anticoagulant experiments revealed that the film had good blood compatibility, no cytotoxicity, and excellent anticoagulant properties. The film displays anticoagulant properties even after being immersed in Phosphate-Buffered Saline (PBS) for 7 days. Furthermore, the film can spontaneously release H2S gas for 90 h after soaking in an acidic environment (pH = 6) for 90 h. This property improves the acidic microenvironment of the lesion and promotes the proliferation of endothelial cells by using H2S gas. In addition, the film can inhibit the uncontrollable release of Zn2+ ions, avoiding its toxicity even when immersed in an acid environment for 35 days. Healing of chronic wounds has been critically limited by prolonged inflammation. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a biologically active molecule with high potential based on its efficacy in modulating inflammation, promoting wound healing and tissue remodeling. Strategies to use CO as a gaseous drug to chronic wounds have emerged, but controlling the sustained release of CO at the wound site remains a major challenge. In this work, a porphyrin-Fe based metal organic frameworks, TPyP-FeMOFs was prepared. The synthesized TPyP-FeMOFs was high-temperature vacuum activated (AcTPyP-FeMOFs) and AcTPyP-FeMOFs had a relatively high Fe (II) content. CO sorption isotherms showed that AcTPyP-FeMOFs chemisorbed CO and thus CO release was sustained and prolonged. In vitro evaluation results showed that CO@TPyP-FeMOFs reduced the inflammatory level of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) activated macrophages, polarized macrophages to M2 anti-inflammatory phenotype, and promoted the proliferation of fibroblasts by altering the pathological microenvironment. In vivo study confirmed CO@TPyP-FeMOFs promoted healing in a LPS model of delayed cutaneous wound repair and reduced macrophages and neutrophils recruitment. There is growing interest in using canopy temperature (Tc), including crop water Stress index (CWSI), for irrigation management. However, Tc varies greatly in one day, while soil water content (SWC) varies little, which may lead to different conclusions on whether irrigation is needed based on CWSI at different times. For this end, Tc of winter wheat was continuously monitored, and the data of such environmental factors as atmospheric temperature and soil water content (SWC) were simultaneously collected. CWSI was calculated based on empirical formulation and Tc and CWSI were generalized based on the normalization formulation. The correlation SWC between Tc and CWSI before and after generalization was compared and error analysis was based on SWC theoretical formula. The results showed: (1) the accuracy of SWC retrieval by Tc and CWSI increased firstly and then decreased with time during the day. The optimal time for Tc monitoring SWC was between 10:00 ~ 16:00 (R2 > 0.72) and the optimal time for CWSI monitoring SWC was between 9:00 ~ 18:00 (R2 > 0.69). (2) CWSI and Tc were mapped based on the relationship between crop water stress and soil water deficit and normalized canopy temperature expressions characterized the relationship between crop water stress and soil water deficit. (3) The accuracy of inversion of SWC by mapping Tc from 18:00 ~ 8:00 is increased from 0.5 ~ 0.6 to 0.7 ~ 0.8; the accuracy of soil water content inversion by mapping CWSI from 18:00 ~ 8:00 was improved from 0.2 ~ 0.4 to 0.4 ~ 0.6. (4) The theoretical expression of SWC deduced based on CWSI also proves that considering the relationship between crop water stress and soil water deficit change can effectively reduce the relative error from 30 to 5% in the morning and evening. This study contributes to the understanding of the reason why the correlation between Tc and SWC varies greatly during the day and solves the time-limited problem of thermal infrared remote sensing monitoring of crop water stress. Exploring the impact of different monitoring angles from unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on the monitoring accuracy of soil moisture content (SMC) is crucial for precision irrigation. To this end, experiment was conducted to monitor the SMC of winter wheat at different growth stages under different irrigation treatments in Yangling, Shaanxi, China. At a solar zenith angle of 45°, multispectral remote sensing data from a UAV were collected at thirteen different monitoring zenith angles. Simultaneously, the SMC in the wheat root zone was measured. From the UAV multispectral images, spectral reflectance was extracted for the construction of vegetation indices. Then the correlation between the vegetation indices and the measured SMC was analyzed. With the vegetation indices as input variables, SMC monitoring models were constructed using Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), Random Forest (RF), and Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN). The study also examined the effect of specific angles (hotspot and dark spot angles) on the estimation accuracy of the SMC at the nadir angle. The results indicated that different monitoring angles significantly impact the SMC estimation accuracy. Band reflectance and vegetation indices exhibited significant peak values and angular effects at the monitoring zenith angle of 45°. The models achieved the optimal inversion accuracy at the hotspot angle (at a monitoring zenith angle of 45° in the solar principal plane), and the accuracy was ranked as follows: BPNN (R2 = 0.71; RMSE = 1.69) > ELM (R2 = 0.52; RMSE = 1.94) > RF (R2 = 0.48; RMSE = 2.10). By eliminating shadows at the nadir angle through the threshold of dark spot, inversion accuracy similar to the hotspot direction is achieved. AbstractThe biomass-based adsorbents offer a promising solution for wastewater decolorization owing to their superior specific surface area, low-budget, high adsorption capacities, and environmental sustainability. In this work, wheat bran (WB) was used as raw material for the production of in situ N-doped biochar through a molten salt template method, and the adsorption characteristics of Malachite Green (MG) onto biochars prepared from WB by immersing and non-immersing (BC–NaK and BC–NaK-n) in the mixed salt solution (NaCl and KCl) were investigated. The experimental results indicated that the adsorption capacity of MG onto the BC–NaK was significantly better than BC–NaK-n, which was attributed to the rich functional groups and well-developed pore structure of BC–NaK. The adsorption equilibrium data of MG onto the BC–NaK was fitted well to Sips and Koble-Corrigan isotherm models and adsorption process of MG was spontaneous and endothermic. Meanwhile, the pseudo-second-order model was successfully applied to depict the adsorption process of MG. Furthermore, the adsorption of MG onto BC–NaK was primarily regulated by H-bonding, π–π interaction, hydrophobic interaction, electrostatic interaction. The maximum saturated adsorption capacity of the BC–NaK was 880.14 ± 9.35 mg g−1 at 298 K, further demonstrating that biochar prepared from wheat bran provided a long-term development strategy for dye wastewater treatment. Continuous time-series spectral data are important for inversion of crop or soil information. UAV remote sensing is usually selected under clear and windless weather conditions, but it is not possible to have such weather every day, which results in the UAV not collecting continuous daily spectral information. To explore this issue, we focused on summer maize with four irrigation levels as the research subject. A UAV platform with a multispectral sensor was used to acquire measured spectra of the maize canopy. The solar zenith angle was calculated and substituted into the Ambrals kernel-driven model to obtain simulated spectral data for the maize canopy, and the time-series UAV spectral data were complemented. Then, four vegetation indices (VIs) were established using simulated and measured spectral data, respectively, and the accuracy of the simulated VIs was evaluated. Finally, the simulated and measured VIs were used to monitor and evaluate variations in soil surface moisture content, respectively, and provide irrigation warning. The results demonstrated that Ambrals kernel-driven model can be used to simulate the reflectance of maize canopy collected by UAV. The simulated reflectance can complement time-series UAV spectral data and be used to establish VIs, among which Structure Intensive Pigment Index (SIPI) was established with the highest accuracy (R = 0.729). The VIs established by simulated reflectance can be used to monitor soil surface moisture content, and the monitoring effect is similar to the measured data (R2 = 0.642, RMSE = 0.42). It can evaluate the soil moisture a few days after irrigation and ensure the continuity and timeliness of soil moisture data, so as to improve the crop irrigation system and carry out irrigation warning. Liver cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors with no available satisfactory treatment. The aim of the present study was to investigate the anti-tumor effect of an irradiated hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) whole-cell vaccine and its underlying mechanisms. Hepa1-6 and H22 HCC cell lines were irradiated in preparation for whole-cell vaccine production. Subsequently, two HCC tumor-bearing mouse models were created by injecting these Hepa1-6 and H22 cells into the abdominal skin of C57BL/6 and ICR mice, respectively. The mice were immunized with the corresponding whole-cell vaccine the next day, and then once a week until the end of the experimental period. Tumor growth, blood T helper (Th)9 cells and plasma interleukin (IL)-9 levels were monitored during the immunization period. Th9 cells were also induced by in vitro co-culture of the whole-cell vaccine with lymphocytes from the spleen and lymph nodes of the corresponding mice. Alterations of gene expression in transcription factor (TF) were determined by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR, and Th9 cells were detected using flow cytometry. The whole-cell vaccine effectively suppressed HCC tumor growth, as indicated by slower tumor growth and a smaller tumor size in the immunized group compared with the control. The percentage of blood Th9 cells and the concentration of plasma IL-9 were significantly increased in the immunized group. The whole-cell vaccine also induced Th9 cell differentiation and upregulated the expression of TFs PU.1, interferon regulatory factor 4 and basic leucine zipper transcriptional factor ATF-like. • Fractional-order derivative algorithm was used to process soil VIS-NIR spectroscopy. • The correlation coefficient with most soil salt ions were best at 0.80–0.90 order. • Three-dimensional indices were used to magnify the soil salinity information. • Iteratively retaining informative variables algorithm had the best effect. • Mg2+ showed the highest estimation accuracy, with an RPD and RPIQ up to 3.81 and 3.71 respectively. This study aimed to improve the potential of visible-near infrared (VIS-NIR) spectroscopy in predicting the contents of salt and major soluble ions in the topsoil at Hetao Irrigation District in Inner Mongolia, China. A total of 120 soil samples (sampling depth is 0–20 cm) were collected from the field. Fractional-order derivatives (FODs) (with intervals of 0.05 and range of 0–2) were used for soil spectral pretreatment. Coefficient of determination (R2) was used to determine the optimal FOD spectrums of the soil salt and major soluble ions. Extreme learning machine (ELM) models were calibrated with such spectral parameters as band reflectance, newly constructed two-band indices, and three-band indices from the optimal FOD spectrum, and the models were subsequently applied to estimate the contents of soil salt and soluble ions. Different algorithms including Monte Carlo uninformative variable elimination (MCUVE), iteratively retaining informative variables (IRIV), and bootstrapping soft shrinkage (BOSS) were applied to variable selection. The results indicated that the correlation between the contents of soil salt and soluble ions and FOD spectra increased as the derivative order increased. The optimal FOD spectrum of soil salt content (SSC), K+, Na+ and SO 4 2− were the 0.9-order derivative spectrum while the optimal FOD spectrum of Ca2+, Mg2+, CO 3 2–, HCO 3 – and Cl− were 1.65, 0.85, 1.90, 0.80 and 1.55 order derivative spectrum, respectively. The newly proposed three-band index (TBI4) showed a better correlation with ions content (e.g., TBI4 of Mg2+ had the best effect, and its R2 was 0.92). In most cases, the IRIV-ELM models outperformed MCUVE-ELM and BOSS-ELM models in estimating the contents of soil salt and soluble ions. Difference existed among the optimal prediction accuracy of the contents of soil salt and different ions: the prediction accuracy of SSC, Ca2+, Na+, Mg2+, Cl− and SO 4 2− was very high while that of CO 3 2− was high and K+ and HCO 3 2− was relatively lower. However, these models have reached and even exceeded the quantitative prediction level.
