Colloidal suspensions made of smart core–shell structures are of current interest in many fields. Their properties come from the possibility of varying the core and shell materials for modifying the composite particles' chemical, biological, and optical properties. These particles are formed with a material with a constant refractive index core and a shell with a refractive index decaying until it matches the solvent refractive index. Poly(N-IsoPropyl AcrylaMide) (PNIPAM) is a typical example of materials forming shells. In this report, we present how to apply Mie scattering theory to predict and understand the static light scattering of large nonhomogeneous colloidal particles with spherical symmetry whose size is comparable with or larger than the light wavelength used for developing scattering experiments, where the Rayleigh–Gans–Debye approximation is not valid. Here, the refractive index decay was approximated by a Gaussian RI profile numerically evaluated through a multilayer sphere. We calculated the form factor functions of suspensions of PNIPAM microgels previously reported and core–shell suspensions made of polystyrene/PNIPAM at 20 and 40 °C synthesized by us. In all the cases, our method succeeded in providing the scattering intensity as a function of the angle. The software for using the numerical method is fairly straightforward and is accessible as an open-source code. The results can not only help predict and understand the photonic properties of microgels with large core–shell structures but also for any particle with a refractive index distribution with spherical symmetry, as in the case of microgels with super chaotropic agents, hollow microgels, or microparticles. Low-noise fluxgate magnetometers are normally comprised of three separate devices: a power supply, the sensor head/electronics and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This paper presents a parallel rod fluxgate magnetometer in a single printed circuit board of size = 5 × 12 cm, weight = 45 g, and sensor head average power dissipation = 40 mW. The open-loop noise spectral density = 5 p T r m s / Hz @ 1 Hz , competitive with state-of-the-art devices. This is realized using a new amorphous wire core material and programmable mixed-signal electronics with low amplifier and ADC noise. We have compared the sensor performance to a low-noise observatory magnetometer and found sub-nT correlation when tracking the Y (East-West) component of the Earth's geomagnetic field. Electronics today has evolved significantly, including its application in transparent and flexible devices. Flexible electronics offers new product concepts, including low production cost, low energy consumption, and sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. This concept leads to the development of novel materials that realize today's requirements. Incorporating optically transparent and flexible thin-film-based devices into the electronic circuitry helps in maintaining high conductivity along with achieving the similar electronic behavior of the conventional electronic gadgets. Thin-film diodes (TFDs) and thin-film transistors (TFTs) are the core materials to be incorporated as building blocks for flexible devices. Among them, oxide-based thin films have been marked to be significant because of their efficient electrical performance, low temperature processing, and device flexibility. The present article reviews the concepts and application of zinc oxide (ZnO) as the semiconducting material for flexible thin-film devices. We also review flexible and transparent TFDs and TFTs that are based prominently on ZnO as the semiconducting material. Furthermore, the present issues have also been addressed. X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is a powerful experimental tool to probe the local structure in materials with the core hole excitations. Here, the oxygen K-edge XAS spectra of the NaCl solution and pure water are computed by using a recently developed GW-Bethe-Salpeter equation approach, based on configurations modeled by path-integral molecular dynamics with the deep-learning technique. The neural network is trained on ab initio data obtained with strongly constrained and appropriately normed density functional theory. The observed changes in the XAS features of the NaCl solution, compared to those of pure water, are in good agreement between experimental and theoretical results. We provided detailed explanations for these spectral changes that occur when NaCl is solvated in pure water. Specifically, the presence of solvating ion pairs leads to localization of electron-hole excitons. Our theoretical XAS results support the theory that the effects of the solvating ions on the H-bond network are mainly confined within the first hydration shell of ions, however beyond the shell the arrangement of water molecules remains to be comparable to that observed in pure water. Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) constructions, controlled light propagation for measuring amplitude, phase, polarization and wavelength of the spectrum, and PCF-incorporated interferometry techniques are the foundations upon which sensors operate. But the existing PCF techniques have very large stretching that tends to be difficult to align due to the cross-polarization mode of the optical fiber structure. Hence, the novel Polymer graphene-based Hexagonal cladding is designed by using a hexagonal hollowed core and a cladding material of Polymethyl methacrylate reinforced with gyroidal graphene which increases confinement strength. Once the crystal structure is designed, normally the presence of substrate the Q-factors is degraded. On substrates, Q-factors are enhanced by fine-tuning the position of the neighboring holes. Hence, the novel Bilayer Grating Stratum solves the degrading issues in Q-factors, which utilizes a Silicon polyamide-coated FBG in the crystal that is incorporated using the Femto-laser technique thereby increasing the wavelength tenability. To identify the electric field pattern, the designed structure is simulated in COMSOL software. A large volume of water is bypassing oil and comes up without being able to push it out from the reservoir after organic material adsorption. This work investigates hydrophobicity effect on rock wettability, oil recovery, and relative permeability. The μXRF was used to characterize sand cores, and a contact angle goniometer to determine fluids contact angle. Oil recovery was evaluated by measuring the incremental oil volume recovered in a glass and PVC capillary designed micromodel. Relative permeability was studied using the steady state method, and the wettability was determined by the Amott method. The results show that cores are mainly composed of quartz 86.04%. Oil recovery was 30.50% for oil-wet state; where the wettability index was −0.283. Thereafter, it has been demonstrated that the surfactant solution increases the oil recovery with 23.54 ℅. Adsorption of surfactants on functional groups of PVC change the contact angle between water and PVC's surface from 112° to 39°, decrease the IFT and restore the water-wet state. PVC debris presents efficient new method to determine the water by pass effect on oil recovery. The findings of this study help for better understanding the surfactant-oil displacements during water flooding in light oil reservoirs with impaired wettability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The thermal vibration and buckling behavior of a functionally graded nanoplate are examined in this study. The nanoplate is made up of a silicon nitride/stainless steel core plate and two cobalt-ferrite/barium-titanate face plates. Four alternative porosity models were used to simulate the porosity of the nanoplate, and numerous variables that can affect the nanoplate's behavior were taken into account. The study found that the thermomechanical behavior of nanoplates with magneto-electro-elastic face layers and a functionally graded porous core plate is affected by material gradation indices, porosity ratios, nonlocal variables, and different core plate material porosity models. Piezoelectric ultrasonic energy harvesters (PUEHs) have recently attracted increasing attention. For minimizing the energy losses during energy transfer, it is crucial for core piezoelectric materials to maintain high piezoelectric coefficient (d 33), mechanical quality factor (Q m), and piezoelectric voltage coefficient (g 33). Herein, a simple way of hardening strategy improves the piezoelectric properties of KNN-based ceramics, combined with optimizing grain growth. The enhanced d 33 (∼340 pC/N), high Q m (∼211) and T C (∼305 °C) are obtained simultaneously in this system, accompanied by superior d 33 × g 33 =8770×10−15 m2/N. Through variable temperature resonance test, the polarization rotation diversity caused by phase structure difference is found to closely related to the temperature stability of Q m value. A prototype of PUEH device was further designed and fabricated, with adjustable ultrasound-induced output voltage up to 8.2 V. This paper takes polyester yarn, core raw material in polyester textile industry chain, as research object, and deeply explores its price indicators and risk hedging mechanisms through multiple linear regression models and Holt-Winters approaches. It is worth mentioning that with continuous development of digital technology, digital transformation of production lines and warehouses has become an important development feature in various industries. This study also actively complies with this trend, and innovatively incorporates the upstream and downstream production line start-up rates into price prediction model. Through this initiative, we can more comprehensively consider the impact of supply and demand changes on price of polyester yarn, thus making prediction results more closely reflect the actual market situation. AbstractPhase change energy storage materials are the core of phase change energy storage technology. Phase change hysteresis can cause phase change materials not to store and release thermal energy as expected, and most studies have not focused on this. A low-temperature eutectic phase change material CaCl2·6H2O–MgCl2·6H2Omaterial prepared was investigated, and some influencing factors of the phase change hysteresis phenomenon and its regular characteristics were aspired to be obtained. The melting-solidification curves were obtained using a step-cooling test bench, and the latent heat values and heat absorption and exothermic curves of materials with different proportions were measured by a differential scanning calorimeter. The experimental results show that the temperature difference of the phase change hysteresis tended to increase gradually with the increase of the mass fraction of the nucleating agent, and the hysteresis temperature difference increases from the initial 3.9 °C–15.02 °C when SrCl2·6H2O was added by 2.4%. The temperature difference of the phase change hysteresis increased gradually with the increase of the mass fraction of the thickener. This paper provides a new idea for optimizing the properties of phase change energy storage materials and provides a possibility for realizing the parametric control of phase change hysteresis factors. This paper presents a two-stage microencapsulation process that uses pH modulation to enhance the thermal stability of microcapsules that consist of a melamine–formaldehyde (MF) shell and a butyl stearate core. In the first stage, the pH value was modulated between 6.0 and 8.0. Rising the pH value to 8.0 slowed the polycondensation rate, allowing the MF resin with a lower degree of polymerization to migrate to the capsule surface and form a smooth shell. Lowering the pH value to 6.0 accelerated polycondensation. In the second stage, a relatively fast, continuous reduction in the pH value to 5.0 led to further MF polycondensation, hardening the shell. Post-curing at 100 °C prevented shell damage caused by the liquid–gas phase transition of the core material during the process. The microcapsules produced by increasing the pH value to 8.0 twice demonstrated improved thermal stability, with only a minimal overall weight loss of 5% at 300 °C. Significant weight loss was observed between 350 and 400 °C, temperatures at which the methylene bridges in the MF shell undergo thermal degradation. The results from differential scanning calorimetry, electron microscopy, and thermogravimetry analyses confirmed a successful optimization of the microencapsulation, showing that these microcapsules are promising for thermal energy storage and other applications that require high thermal stability. Honeycombs are commonly used as core materials in sandwich panels, and the core geometry significantly impacts the bending behaviour of these structures. Understanding how core characteristics influence the mechanical properties of sandwich panels is essential. The comparison between different honeycomb sandwich panel configurations is quite complex. This study delves into the intricate comparison between various honeycomb sandwich panel configurations, serving as a benchmark for integral 3D printed panels featuring hexagonal cores in both L- and W-directions, and circular cores. Notably, wrinkling phenomena are observed in the L-direction of the hexagonal cores. Circular cell panels exhibit increased load capacity, flexural modulus, and toughness. Additionally, hexagonal L-core panels demonstrate a higher toughness modulus than their W-core counterparts, making them less rigid yet stronger. Furthermore, L-cell core panels possess a lower density than circular cores, whereas W-cell cores exhibit higher density, compromising their specific mechanical properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, self‐healing microcapsules were prepared by in situ polymerization using poly(vinyl alcohol) as the emulsifier, urea‐formaldehyde resin as the shell material, and alkyd resin as the core material. The average diameter of the obtained microcapsules was about 20 μm and the encapsulation rate of alkyd resin was 50.7 wt.%. The self‐healing coating was prepared by adding 5 wt.% of microcapsules to the pure polyurethane coating and then coated on AA2024‐T3 substrate. The self‐healing effect was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy. Seismological studies have exposed numerous ultralow velocity zones (ULVZs) exhibiting extraordinary physical attributes at Earth's core-mantle boundary, yet their compositions and origins remain controversial. Water-iron reaction can generate unique phases under lowermost-mantle conditions and likely plays a crucial role in forming ULVZs. Through first-principles molecular dynamic simulations with machine learning techniques, we determine that iron hydride, the product of water-iron reaction, is stable as a superionic phase at the core-mantle boundary. This superionic iron hydride has much slower velocities and a higher density than the ambient mantle under lowermost-mantle conditions. Accumulation of iron hydride, created through either a chemical reaction between subducted water and iron or solidification of core material entrained in the lower mantle by convection, can explain the seismic observations of ULVZs particularly those associated with subduction. As we all know, cancer is still a disease that we are struggling against. Although the traditional treatment options are still the mainstream in clinical practice, emerging phototheranostics technologies based on photoacoustic or fluorescence imaging-guided phototherapy also provide a new exploration direction for non-invasive, low-risk and highly efficient cancer treatment. Photosensitizers are the core materials to accomplish this mission. Recently, more attention has been paid to the emerging A–D–A fused-ring photosensitizers. A–D–A fused-ring photosensitizers display strong and wide absorption spectra, high photostability and easy molecular modification. Since this type of photosensitizer was first used for tumor therapy in 2019, its application boundaries are constantly expanding. Therefore, in this feature article, from the perspective of molecular design, we focused on the development of these molecules for application in phototheranostics over the past five years. The effects of tiny structural changes on their photophysical properties are discussed in detail, which provides a way for structural optimization of the subsequent A–D–A photosensitizers. In this study, all‐optical organic–inorganic hybrid waveguide switches are proposed based on the photothermal effect of Au‐MOF composites. The embedded waveguide structure is directly defined using SiO2 grooves on a silicon substrate. Self‐synthesized Au‐MOF/PMMA and SiO2‐TiO2 network grafting PMMA are used as the core and cladding materials, respectively. The organic–inorganic hybrid shielding layer is formed using an oxygen ion etching process to avoid corrosion from the cladding solvent. A directional coupling switching structure is designed and fabricated. The switching time of the all‐optical device is 500 µs, the photothermal tuning sensitivity is 19.10 nm mW−1, the driving optical power consumption is 0.67 mW, and the extinction ratio is close to 9.83 dB. Ultra-Violet (UV) coatings are widely adaptable of substrates and produce low emissions of volatile organic compounds. UV coatings can extend service life by adding self-healing microcapsules that restore integrity after sustaining damage. In this study, UV coating was used as a core material; microcapsules were produced and added to the UV coating to enhance its self-healing property, providing a good protection for both the UV coating and the substrate. UV primer microcapsules were prepared with UV primer as the core material and melamine formaldehyde resin as the wall material. The UV primer containing more than 98.0% solids content was mainly composed of epoxy acrylic resin, polyester acrylic resin, trihydroxy methacrylate, trimethyl methacrylate, and photo initiator. The preparation process of the UV primer microcapsules was optimized. Further, the UV coating was prepared with better UV primer microcapsules, and the effects of the UV primer microcapsules alongside the comprehensive properties of the coating were studied. The best preparation process for the UV primer microcapsules was as follows: the wall-core mass ratio was 1:0.50, Triton X-100 and Span-20 as emulsifiers with an HLB value of 10.04, the microcapsule reaction temperature was 70 °C, and the reaction time of the was 3.0 h. When the quantity of the UV primer microcapsules increased in the coating, color difference ΔE of the coating increased, gloss decreased, transmittance decreased, elongation at break increased and then decreased, roughness increased, and self-healing rate first increased and then decreased. When the addition of the UV primer microcapsules reached 2.0%, the color difference ΔE of the coating was 1.71, the gloss was 106.63 GU, the transmittance was 78.80%, the elongation at break was 3.62%, the roughness was 0.204 μm, and the self-healing rate was 28.56%, which were the best comprehensive properties of the UV primer. To improve the comprehensive properties of the UV coatings, the UV coatings were modified by a microcapsule technology, which gave the UV coatings a better self-healing property. The application range of microcapsules for the UV coatings was broadened. Based on the previous research of microcapsules in UV coatings, the results further refined the study of the effects of adding self-healing microcapsules to UV coatings using the UV coating itself as the core material. Phase change materials (PCMs) have attracted increasing attention due to their efficient heat storage capability and small temperature fluctuation. And encapsulation has been recognized as an effective method to solve issues such as corrosion and leakage. For a long time, restricted by thermal expansion, encapsulation of PCMs has remained in the low‐temperature field and liquid‐state coating. In recent years, with the expansion of PCMs encapsulation into the medium and high temperature field and the development of solid‐state coating technology, encapsulation methods that consider thermal expansion have greatly improved the cycle life of encapsulated PCMs and make solid‐state coating of medium and high temperature PCMs possible. Herein, first, this paper summarizes the thermal expansion rates of common core and shell materials, as well as the thermal expansion behavior and stress analysis within confined spaces, proposing the necessity to solve thermal expansion issues. Subsequently, the solution strategies for solving thermal expansion issues in both macrocapsules and microcapsules are introduced. On this basis, the advantages and disadvantages of each strategy have been compared, and the applications of encapsulated PCMs after resolving thermal expansion issues have been introduced. Heat sinks are used as heat exchangers to dissipate heat from electronic equipment due to their high functionality and viability. However, heat dispersion is the main obstacle to improving the heat sinks thermal efficiency. This paper has two main parts. The first part of this study focuses on the thermal design of the heat sink, encompassing several factors such as heat dissipation devices using natural convection, heat sinks with various geometries, locations of intake and outlet, materials of the core, flat fins (especially FPFHS and PFHS fins), and porosity fins. Heat sinks that are single-layered or multi-layered and heat sinks that use different cooling liquids. The second part examines interior heat transmission by investigating various indoor geometries, including cylindrical, circular, rectangular, and hexagonal shapes, and assessing their effect on the transport of heat. Additionally, interior structures influence various fin arrangements for any type of heat convection, including actual trials conducted on enclosures using diverse fin designs, are considered. The current study aims to collect research literature that studies the heat sink and various enclosures. The research has been divided into groups to simplify the research process for activities that use cavitation-based technology to improve heat transfer for heat sinks, especially heat exchangers used to cool electrical equipment. This study conducted dynamic triaxial tests on a typical poured asphalt concrete material of core walls in Xinjiang, exploring the dynamic characteristics of poured asphalt concrete under various confining pressures, principal stress ratios, and vibration frequencies. On this basis, the dynamic constitutive relationship of poured asphalt concrete was investigated using the Hardin–Drnevich model. The results indicate that under different confining pressures, principal stress ratios, and vibration frequencies, the variation patterns of the backbone lines of dynamic stress-strain of poured asphalt concrete are basically identical, consistent with a hyperbolic curve. The confining pressure and principal stress ratio significantly affect the backbone line of dynamic stress-strain. By comparison, frequency has a minimal effect. The changing trends of dynamic elasticity modulus and damping ratio of poured asphalt concrete under various factors are almost the same. When the material has high dynamic stress and strain, the hysteresis loop is large. When the curve of the damping ratio becomes flat, the asymptotic constant can be used as the maximum damping ratio. The relationship between the reciprocal of the dynamic elasticity modulus and the dynamic strain of poured asphalt concrete exhibits a linear distribution. Under different ratios of confining pressure to principal stress, there are large discrepancies between the calculated values from the formula and the experimental fitting values of the maximum dynamic elasticity modulus, and the maximum relative errors reach 16.65% and 18.15%, respectively. Therefore, the expression for the maximum dynamic elasticity modulus was modified, and the calculated values using the modified formula were compared with the experimental fitting values. The relative errors are significantly reduced, and the maximum relative errors are 3.02% and 2.04%, respectively, in good agreement with the fitting values of the experimental data. To examine the effect of mixed-frequency excitation conditions on the hysteresis and loss characteristics of ferromagnetic materials, this paper shows how to construct magnetic property test equipment for electrical steel using Epstein's square circle. Experiments were carried out to assess the hysteresis and loss properties of oriented silicon steel wafers under mixed-frequency sinusoidal operating conditions with different occupancy ratios. It used heterodyne extraction to investigate the effect of different occupancy ratios of industry and magnetization frequency on the hysteresis and loss characteristics of oriented silicon steel sheets. The commonly used ultraviolet ray (UV) curing coatings have the characteristics of fast curing speed, high hardness, strong abrasion resistance, etc. However, the self-healing properties of UV coatings after being damaged still need to be improved. Self-healing microcapsules can alleviate this problem. The UV top coating itself has good properties, so it can be directly chosen as the core material of microcapsules. UV top coating microcapsules can be added to the UV top coating to increase the self-healing properties of the UV coating to achieve the purpose of better protection of the UV coating and fiberboards. UV top coating microcapsules were prepared and added in different contents to characterize the effect on the physical, chemical, and self-healing properties of the UV coating on a fiberboard surface. The 1#, 2#, and 3# UV top coating microcapsules that were prepared with emulsifier HLB values of 10.04, 10.88, and 11.72, respectively, were added to the UV top coating at contents of 2.0%, 4.0%, 6.0%, 8.0%, and 10.0%. The UV coatings were applied to the fiberboard using a method of two primers and two top coatings, in which no microcapsule was added in the primer, and were tested and analyzed. The results showed that when the content of microcapsules was greater than 6.0%, close to 8.0%, the excessive density of microcapsules produced stacking and extrusion between the microcapsules. As a result, the core material could not flow out smoothly when part of the microcapsule was ruptured. The outflow of the core material was not efficiently utilized, thus leading to a decrease in the self-healing rate. The 2# UV top coating microcapsules of 4.0% made the UV coatings reach the self-healing rate of 26.41%. The self-healing rate of the UV coatings prepared with the 3# UV top coating microcapsules with 6.0% was up to 26.58%. The UV coatings prepared with the 1# UV top coating microcapsules of 6.0% had the highest self-healing rate among the three groups, up to 27.32%. The UV coatings of this group had the best comprehensive properties with a chromatic aberration ΔE of 4.08, a gloss of 1.10 GU, a reflectance of 17.13%, an adhesion grade of 3, a hardness of 3H, a grade 3 of impact resistance, and a roughness of 1.677 μm. An investigation of the UV coatings on fiberboard surfaces with the content of UV top coating microcapsules can provide support for the optimization of the self-healing properties of UV coatings and can also provide innovative ideas for the preparation of the self-healing coatings on fiberboard surfaces. In this study, the structural performance of recycled PET foams that are developed as a core material from PET wastes from core‐kit manufacturing process is studied. Compression molding under heat method is used to manufacture recycled PET cores by using waste PET foam powders. Unsaturated polyester resin is used as a binder to collect and bond PET powders to get a compact form. Binder is mixed with waste PET powder and the blend is compressed under the heat with a pressure in a mold. The various powder/binder mixing ratios as 50/50, 60/40, and 78/22 are used to see effect of mixing ratio on density and flexural strength. Moreover, waste short glass fibers are added to mixture to increase strength of core material. The results reveal that flexural strength and density decreases with the increasing of powder content in mixing. In addition, it is noticed that sandwich composite structure prepared with recycled cores shows better bending and shear properties than those of sandwich composites prepared with virgin foam core materials. Paleomagnetic analyses have suggested that the lunar magnetic field underwent a significant change from 4.25 to 3.19 Ga, indicating the rapid transition of the lunar dynamo mechanism. We used the van der Pauw (vdP) method to measure the electrical resistivity of Fe‐S‐P alloys under conditions relevant to the lunar core and estimated the thermal conductivity of the Fe‐S‐P lunar core. These values were incorporated into thermal and dynamo models to investigate the evolution of the lunar core. Our model indicates that the inner core began to grow as early as 4.35 Ga, the solidification regime switched at 3.50 Ga, and the thermal dynamo ceased between 3.78 and 3.51 Ga. The cessation of the dynamo could be due to a low buoyancy flux and insufficient entropy dissipation. Thermal and compositional dynamos cannot sustain the ancient strength of the Moon's magnetic field, and require other energy sources. Plain Language Summary: The transport properties of planetary core materials dominate heat transfer through thermal convection, which is closely linked to the geodynamo of the planetary core. The van der Pauw (vdP) method was used to measure the electrical resistivity of Fe‐S‐P alloy, and we assessed the effects of pressure, temperature, and light elements (sulfur and phosphorus) on the electrical resistivity of these alloys. We estimated the thermal conductivity of the Fe‐S‐P lunar core and modeled the growth of the lunar core. We found that the inner core nucleated at 4.35 Ga in the center and then solidified at the core‐mantle boundary (CMB) at 3.50 Ga. The adiabatic heat conduction at the lunar CMB indicated that a thermally driven dynamo persisted until 3.78–3.51 Ga in the Moon's history. We discuss the cessation of the lunar core dynamo in relation to the buoyancy flux, entropy, Reynolds number and Elsasser number and explain the variation in the magnetic field in conjunction with the previous dynamo mechanism. AbstractThis article investigates the blast response of spherical-roof contoured core (SRCC) and novel spherical-roof contoured core (NSRCC) sandwich panels under blast loading, which involves the core design and material types. Due to the practical difficulties associated with investigating explosive materials and replicating blast loads, finite element (FE) modeling is a favorable method as a functional and convenient alternative. FE models are established under different charge masses of used trinitrotoluene (TNT), which is used in aluminum (AL) and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) cores of sandwich panels. The Johnson-Cook model and the user-defined material subroutine (VUMAT) predicted the blast performance of AL and CFRP materials on SRCC and NSRCC types with three patterns. The results showed that as the mass of TNT increased from 1 kg to 3 kg, the internal energy was also linearly increased. It was shown that the NSRCC type provided higher internal energy than the SRCC type. The maximum internal energy was shown on the NSRCC2 pattern, which was 41.20 kJ with 3 kg TNT. Moreover, SRCC pattern 1 with AL material provided the minimum deflection compared with the other five patterns. It was indicated that SRCC pattern 1 showed better blast protection performance on 1, 2, and 3 kg TNT. Aims. Impacts between differentiated planetesimals are ubiquitous in protoplanetary discs and may mix materials from the core, mantle, and crust of planetesimals, thus forming stony-iron meteorites. The surface composition of the asteroid (16) Psyche represents a mixture of metal and non-metal components. However, the velocities, angles, and outcome regimes of impacts that mixed metal and silicate from different layers of planetesimals are debated. Our aim is to investigate the impacts between planetesimals that can mix large amounts of metal and silicate, and the mechanism of stony-iron meteorite formation. Methods. We used smooth particle hydrodynamics to simulate the impacts between differentiated planetesimals with various initial conditions that span different outcome regimes. In our simulations, the material strength was included and the effects of the states of planetesimal cores were studied. Using a statistical approach, we quantitatively analysed the distributions of metal and silicate after impacts. Results. Our simulations modelled the mass, depth, and sources of the metal–silicate mixture in different impact conditions. Our results suggest that the molten cores in planetesimals could facilitate mixing of metal and silicate. Large amounts of the metal–silicate mixture could be produced by low-energy accretional impacts and high-energy erosive impacts in the largest impact remnant, and by hit-and-run and erosive impacts in the second-largest impact remnant. After impact, most of the metal-silicate mixture was buried at depth, consistent with the low cooling rates of stony-iron meteorites. Our results indicate that mesosiderites potentially formed in an erosive impact, while pallasites potentially formed in an accretional or hit-and-run impact. Ceramic stereolithography 3D printing technology has demonstrated great potential in alumina core manufacturing for advanced turbine blade casting. However, there have been very few photosensitive material formulas specifically designed for alumina core fabrications. Herein, we present the design of a 3D printable ceramic paste based on bimodal particle size distributions for additive manufacturing of high‐quality alumina cores. The coarse particles in the paste remain in their original shape while the fine particles transform into platelet‐like particles during sintering. The effects of coarse particles, platelet‐like particles, and grain growth on maintaining porosity and limiting shrinkage rates are studied. Furthermore, the vacuum sintering process is found to be beneficial for core material properties. Towards a sustainable future in construction, worldwide efforts aim to reduce cement use as a binder core material in concrete, addressing production costs, environmental concerns, and circular economy criteria. In the last decade, numerous studies have explored cement substitutes (e.g., fly ash, silica fume, clay-based materials, etc.) and methods to mimic the mechanical performance of cement by integrating polymeric meshes into their matrix. In this study, a systemic approach incorporating computer aid and biomimetics is utilized for the development of 3D-printed clay-based composite mortar reinforced with advanced polymeric bioinspired lattice structures, such as honeycombs and Voronoi patterns. These natural lattices were designed and integrated into the 3D-printed clay-based prisms. Then, these configurations were numerically examined as bioinspired lattice applications under three-point bending and realistic loading conditions, and proper Finite Element Models (FEMs) were developed. The extracted mechanical responses were observed, and a conceptual redesign of the bioinspired lattice structures was conducted to mitigate high-stress concentration regions and optimize the structures' overall mechanical performance. The optimized bioinspired lattice structures were also examined under the same conditions to verify their mechanical superiority. The results showed that the clay-based prism with honeycomb reinforcement revealed superior mechanical performance compared to the other and is a suitable candidate for further research. A large number of animal and clinical experiments show that 1,3‐diglyceride (1,3‐DAG) can significantly ameliorate obesity by improving blood lipid and glucose metabolism. After microencapsulation, it cannot only be used to prepare full‐nutrient food that meets the nutritional requirements of specific patients, but also improve the storage stability of oils. In this study, 1,3‐DAG microcapsules are prepared by using high‐amylose corn starch, resistant dextrin, and sodium caseinate as composite wall materials, and 1,3‐DAG with a purity of 80% as core material. Firstly, the water phase and oil phase are mixed evenly, and then the uniform emulsion is prepared by two steps of high‐speed shearing and high‐pressure homogenization. The prepared emulsion is desiccated by a spray dryer to prepare microcapsules. Taking the encapsulation rate as the judging criteria, five gradients of core and wall material are designed to obtain the optimal formula. The results show that when the amount of core material is 28% and the wall material is 70%, the encapsulation rate of 99.51% is the highest. The prepared 1,3‐DAG microcapsules have water content of 1.9% and solubility of 98.05%, the average particle size is 2.921 µm. This paper concerns and presents new improved beam and plate finite elements for analysing sandwich structures from the structural and modal points of view. In this study, the material behaviour is supposed to be linear elastic and orthotropic, but the method could be extended for nonlinear problems as well. The current models are able to treat the compressibility of the soft core materials, besides the interlaminar continuity conditions and the zero shear stresses on the shear-free surfaces are granted by the Lagrange multiplier method. In order to provide stress continuity along the element boundaries, the Hermite interpolation is employed for the elementary formulations that yields subparametric finite elements. On the contrary, the semi-analytical solutions of these enhanced beam and plate models are also discussed here for particular boundary conditions. The verification of the new finite elements is carried out by two case studies. The test examples are modelled and solved in commercial finite element software (ANSYS) with general shell and solid elements, too. The results derived from different models are subjected to a comprehensive comparison. Also, the structural and modal analyses of the test examples are presented during the case studies. The structural analysis of an overconstrained sandwich panel is also discussed to point out the significance of the proper shear stress distributions. In this paper, the method for calculating losses in magnetic cores operating in a DC/DC power converter is experimentally verified for selected samples. The chosen method of calculating magnetic losses based on loss measurements under sinusoidal excitation is described, and the measurement process is discussed. The results of power loss measurements with a direct current bias for three different magnetic core materials, e.g., ferrite, nickel-iron-molybdenum alloy powder, and nanocrystalline, are presented. Drug‐carrying nanoparticles are a promising strategy to deliver therapeutics into the brain, but their translation requires better characterization of interactions between nanomaterials and endothelial cells of the blood–brain barrier (BBB). Here, we use a library of 18 layer‐by‐layer electrostatically assembled nanoparticles (NPs) to independently assess the impact of NP core and surface materials on in vitro uptake, transport, and intracellular trafficking in brain endothelial cells. We demonstrate that NP core stiffness determines the magnitude of transport, while surface chemistry directs intracellular trafficking. Finally, we demonstrate that these factors similarly dictate in vivo BBB transport using intravital imaging through cranial windows in mice. We identify that hyaluronic acid surface chemistry increases transport across the BBB in vivo, and flow conditions are necessary to replicate this finding in vitro. A rectangular polymer profile made of glass fiber‐reinforced thermoplastic sheathing material and a polyethylene terephthalate foam core were to be separated for recycling. For this purpose, a mechanical recycling process utilizing a cutting mill and the high‐voltage fragmentation (HVF) process were used and their achievements in composite separation were compared. For both separation methods, parameter variations resulted in a total of two test series each consisting of drying, screening, optional density separation, ashing, weighing, microscopic analyses, and glass fiber length measurements. The paper focuses on the potential of magneto-fluorescent nanostructures intended to join simultaneously several functions of dissimilar core and shell material into a single entity. Two different types of magneto-fluorescent nanostructures with a broad array of physicochemical properties are premeditated and collated here. Strontium hexaferrite (Hard ferrite) core with CdS shell and Nickel Zinc ferrite (Soft ferrite) core with CdS shell are the two sets of magneto fluorescent nanostructures that were designed. Magnetic and optical analysis of both sets provides divergent outcomes. The shape of the derivative hysteresis curve gives a direct indication of the dissimilar nature (superparamagnetic & Permanent magnetic) of magnetic cores respectively. Cathode materials are the core components of lithium‐ion batteries owing to the determination of the practical voltage and effective energy of the battery system. However, advanced cathodes have faced challenges related to cation migration and cation intermixing. In this review, the study summarizes the structural failure mechanisms due to the cation mixing of advanced cathodes, including Ni‐rich and Li‐rich layered cathodes, spinel, olivine, and disordered rock‐salt materials. This review starts by discussing the structural degradation mechanisms caused by cation intermixing in different cathodes, focusing on the electronic structure, crystal structure, and electrode structure. Furthermore, the optimization strategies for effective inhibition of cation migration and rational utilization of cation mixing are systematically encapsulated. Last but not least, the remaining challenges and proposed perspectives are highlighted for the future development of advanced cathodes. The accurate analysis of cation migration using advanced characterization, precise control of material synthesis, and multi‐dimensional synergistic modification will be the key research areas for cation migration in cathodes. This review provides a comprehensive understanding of cation migration and intermixing in advanced cathodes. The effective inhibition of cation migration and the rational utilization of cation intermixing will emerge as pivotal and controllable factors for the further development of advanced cathodes. In the last decades, the incorporation of bioactive compounds in food supplements aroused the attention of scientists. However, these ingredients often exhibit both low solubility and stability and their poor bioaccessibility within the gastrointestinal tract limits their effectiveness. To overcome these drawbacks, many carriers have been investigated for encapsulating nutraceuticals and enhancing their bioavailability. It is note that several different vegetable wall materials have been applied to build delivery systems. Considering their encapsulation mechanism, lipid and protein-based carriers display specific interaction patterns with bioactives, whereas polysaccharidic-based carriers can entrap them by creating porous highly stable networks. To maximize the encapsulation efficiency, mixed systems are very promising. Following the current goal of using natural and sustainable ingredients, only a limited number of studies about the isolation of new ingredients from agro-food waste are available. In this review, a comprehensive overview of the state of art in the development of innovative natural lipid-, protein- and polysaccharide-based plant carriers is presented, focusing on their application as food active compounds. Different aspects to be considered in the design of delivery systems are discussed, including the carrier structure and chemical features, the interaction between the encapsulating and the core material, and the parameters affecting bioactives entrapment. Today, 98% of all plastics are fossil-based and non-biodegradable, and globally, only 9% are recycled. Microplastic and nanoplastic pollution is just beginning to be understood. As the global demand for sustainable alternatives to conventional plastics continues to rise, biobased and biodegradable plastics have emerged as a promising solution. This review article delves into the pivotal concept of carbon recycling as a pathway towards achieving a zero-waste future through the production and utilization of high-value bioplastics. The review comprehensively explores the current state of bioplastics (biobased and/or biodegradable materials), emphasizing the importance of carbon-neutral and circular approaches in their lifecycle. Today, bioplastics are chiefly used in low-value applications, such as packaging and single-use items. This article sheds light on value-added applications, like longer-lasting components and products, and demanding properties, for which bioplastics are increasingly being deployed. Based on the waste hierarchy paradigm—reduce, reuse, recycle—different use cases and end-of-life scenarios for materials will be described, including technological options for recycling, from mechanical to chemical methods. A special emphasis on common bioplastics—TPS, PLA, PHAs—as well as a discussion of composites, is provided. While it is acknowledged that the current plastics (waste) crisis stems largely from mismanagement, it needs to be stated that a radical solution must come from the core material side, including the intrinsic properties of the polymers and their formulations. The manner in which the cascaded use of bioplastics, labeling, legislation, recycling technologies, and consumer awareness can contribute to a zero-waste future for plastics is the core topics of this article. Conventional MEMS microactuators have, in recent years, been complemented by 3D‐printed actuatable microstructures fabricated via two‐Photon‐Polymerization (2PP). Herein, a novel compact 3D‐printed magnetically actuatable microactuator with a diameter of 500µm is demonstrated, originally designed for micro‐optical systems. It is fabricated by incorporating a composite of NdFeB microparticles and epoxy resin into a designated reservoir of the printed mechanical structure within a simple post‐processing step. The microactuator structure features mechanical springs, allowing for continuous positioning with large displacement. Mechanical studies by nanoindentation of IP‐S bulk structures reveal a viscoelastic material behavior, described by a two‐element General Kelvin‐Voigt viscoelasticity model. The obtained material parameters are then used to simulate and characterize the spring behavior of the microactuator. Actuation experiments are conducted using an external microcoil. The actuator displacement is measured for triangular current pulses with a peak current of 106 mA and durations of 1 to 100 s, resulting in displacements of 69.1 to 88.9 µm. Hysteretic behavior of the actuator is observed, attributable to viscoelasticity and magnetic properties of the core material. Numerical simulations of the experiment demonstrate this behavior as well. Antibiotics are commonly used as antibacterial medications due to their extensive and potent therapeutic properties. However, the overconsumption of these chemicals leads to their accumulation in the human body via the food chain, amplifying drug resistance and compromising immunity, thus presenting a significant hazard to human health. Antibiotics are classified as organic pollutants. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct research on precise methodologies for detecting antibiotics in many substances, including food, pharmaceutical waste, and biological samples like serum and urine. The methodology described in this research paper introduces an innovative technique for producing nanoparticles using silica as the shell material, iron oxide as the core material, and carbon as the shell dopant. By integrating a carbon-doped silica shell, this substance acquires exceptional fluorescence characteristics and a substantial quantum yield value of 80%. By capitalising on this characteristic of the substance, we have effectively constructed a fluorescent sensor that enables accurate ofloxacin analysis, with a detection limit of 1.3 × 10-6 M and a linear range of concentrations from 0 to 120 × 10-6 M. We also evaluated the potential of CSIONPs for OLF detection in blood serum and tap water analysis. The obtained relative standard deviation values were below 3.5%. In response to the problem of moisture absorption or desorption of tobacco core materials during processing and storage, which were easily affected by environmental humidity, this paper summarized the relevant evaluation techniques for the moisture absorption characteristics of tobacco core materials. It was pointed out that the equilibrium moisture content could reflect the water holding capacity of tobacco core materials, and the testing techniques include non-destructive testing (oven method, gas chromatography, Karl Fischer method, difference method) and non-destructive testing (nuclear magnetic method, microwave method, infrared method). The former had high accuracy but took a long time. The latter had the advantage of fast and non-destructive testing, but was easily affected by sample morphology, stacking state, and other factors. Furthermore, the water status could be analyzed by water activity and low field nuclear magnetic resonance. Water activity reflected the availability of water, while low field nuclear magnetic resonance method could monitor and distinguish free water and bound water, but it was subject to interference from other hydrogen-containing components. Adsorption thermodynamics could be explored through isothermal hygroscopicity curves, adsorption models, and adsorption heat, while hygroscopicity kinetics could be explored through hygroscopicity time curves and related models. However, evaluating hygroscopicity characteristics solely from a thermodynamic or kinetic perspective might have limitations in evaluation dimensions and applicability. The future evaluation technology could combine the two to establish a more reasonable and applicable evaluation technique for the moisture absorption characteristics of tobacco core materials, providing reference for the research on the moisture absorption characteristics of tobacco products during processing and storage. White dwarf stars frequently experience external pollution by heavy elements, and yet the intrinsically carbon-enriched DQ spectral class members fail to exhibit this phenomenon, representing a decades-old conundrum. This study reports a high-resolution spectroscopic search for Ca  ii in classical DQ white dwarfs, finding that these stars are stunted both in pollution frequency and heavy element mass fractions, relative to the wider population. Compared to other white dwarf spectral classes, the average external accretion rate is found to be at least three orders of magnitude lower in the DQ stars. Several hypotheses are considered which need to simultaneously account for (i) an apparent lack of accreted metals, (ii) a dearth of circumstellar planetary material, (iii) an observed deficit of unevolved companions in post-common envelope binaries, (iv) relatively low helium mass fractions, and remnant masses that appear smaller than for other spectral classes, (v) a high incidence of strong magnetism, and (vi) modestly older disc kinematics. Only one hypothesis is consistent with all these constraints, suggesting DQ white dwarfs are the progeny of binary evolution that altered both their stellar structures and their circumstellar environments. A binary origin is already suspected for the warmer and more massive DQ stars, and is proposed here as an inclusive mechanism to expose core carbon material, in a potential evolutionary unification for the entire DQ spectral class. Past nuclear accident occurrences raised strong concerns which led to research on nuclear safety. One of the major causes of nuclear accidents is the impeded circulation of core coolant, leading to decay heat removal cessation and rapid temperature rise. If uncontrolled, this results in critical heat flux, loss of coolant accidents, and core dryout. Detailed melted core relocation (i.e., nuclear fuel, graphite, and zircaloy) needs to be investigated through interface capture and multimaterial flow model coupling, which have not been done in previous studies. This work aims to investigate the impacts of temperature and core material composition on the flow dynamics during core relocation. In this study, mass fraction is discretized using a streamlined upwind Petrov–Galerkin method spatially and a modified Crank–Nicolson method temporally to accurately capture fluid interfaces using a high-order accurate flux-limiter. Two core material composition cases (individual material properties case and bulk material properties case) were considered to assess the impact of temperature and core materials composition on both flow dynamics and computational time. Temperature has a significant impact on core material transport and corium flow dynamics during core relocation. Effects of cores types on non-solvent displacement nonaqueous precipitation synthesis of core-shell structured materials were investigated via taking case study on effects of carbon sources on C@ZrSiO 4 preparation. The influencing mechanism of carbon sources was investigated via XRD, FE-SEM, TEM and the CIELAB colorimeter. The results show that the optimized carbon source for non-solvent displacement nonaqueous precipitation synthesis of C@ZrSiO 4 is amorphous and isolated spheroid-like carbon source. Neither layer-structured particle nor sheet-like particle can be effectively encapsulated through non-solvent displacement nonaqueous precipitation method. The shell layer is difficult to be effectively encapsulated on the edges of the around of corresponding particle. In comparison with the higher crystallinity core, the amorphous core is more favorable for encapsulation. The development of stretchable electronic devices is a critical area of research for wearable electronics, particularly electronic textiles (e-textiles), where electronic devices embedded in clothing need to stretch and bend with the body. While stretchable electronics technologies exist, none have been widely adopted. This work presents a novel and potentially transformative approach to stretchable electronics using a ubiquitous structure: the helix. A strip of flexible circuitry ('e-strip') is twisted to form a helical ribbon, transforming it from flexible to stretchable. A stretchable core—in this case rubber cord—supports the structure, preventing damage from buckling. Existing helical electronics have only extended to stretchable interconnects between circuit modules, and individual components such as printed helical transistors. Fully stretchable circuits have, until now, only been produced in planar form: flat circuits, either using curved geometry to enable them to stretch, or using inherently stretchable elastomer substrates. Helical e-strips can bend along multiple axes, and repeatedly stretch between 30 and 50%, depending on core material and diameter. LED and temperature sensing helical e-strips are demonstrated, along with design rules for helical e-strip fabrication. An orthogonal experiment was designed to prepare different UV topcoat microcapsules by adjusting the mass ratio of wall material to core material, HLB value of emulsifier, reaction temperature, and reaction time of UV topcoat microcapsule. By testing the morphology and multiple properties of UV topcoat microcapsules, it was found that the biggest factor affecting the synthesis of UV topcoat microcapsules is the emulsifier HLB value. In order to further optimize the performance of UV topcoat microcapsules, a single-factor experiment was conducted with the emulsifier HLB value as the variable, and it was found that the UV topcoat microcapsules achieved the best performance when the emulsifier HLB value was 10.04. The optimal UV topcoat microcapsules were added to the UV topcoat at different amounts to prepare UV topcoat paint films. Through testing the various properties of the UV topcoat paint film, it was determined that the performance of the UV topcoat paint film was optimal when the amount of UV topcoat microcapsules added to the UV topcoat was 4.0%. The optical properties of the UV topcoat paint film were tested, and the effect of UV topcoat microcapsules on the color difference and glossiness of the UV topcoat paint film was not significant. The tensile and self-healing performance of UV topcoat microcapsules were tested. UV topcoat microcapsules can enhance the toughness of the UV topcoat paint film to a certain extent, suppress the generation of microcracks, and have a good self-healing effect. Developing highly reliable infrared radiation materials with broadband high emissivity at high temperatures, low thermal conductivity, and excellent thermal stability is highly desirable for aerospace thermal protection applications. However, it remains a huge challenge to take into account infrared radiation heat dissipation and blocking heat transfer through low thermal conduction simultaneously. In this work, we reported a broadband high emissivity Ca2+-doped YbCrO 3 ceramic with emissivity above 0.89 at room temperature across the entire range of wavelength (1–14 μm). This doping strategy leads to the introduction of impurity energy levels into the band gap of YbCrO 3 , which increases the possibility of light absorption to promote electron transition, improving the emissivity of the near-infrared band (1–3 μm). Simultaneously, un-equivalent doping induces electron exchange between chromate ceramic ions, which complicates the electronic structure (producing lattice distortion and extra multi-mode vibrations) and reduces the band gap width, thus boosting the emissivity in the mid-infrared band (3–14 μm). More importantly, (Yb 0.8 Ca 0.2)CrO 3 presents a high emissivity (0.76) at an elevated temperature of 1200 °C, together with low thermal conductivity (2.5 W m−1 K−1 at 1000 °C) due to strong phonon scattering. Moreover, the doping-dominating phase stabilization effect contributes to impressive thermal stability (stable at 1300 °C for 50 h) and a high coefficient of thermal expansion (9.0–9.5 × 10−6 K−1), which makes it suitable for long-term high-temperature thermal protection application.
