Abstract

Considers the upheaval in physics at the turn of the 20th century according to the principles set forth in Thomas S. Kuhn's 'The Structure of Scientific Revolutions' (1978). In Kuhn's view it was not Max Planck's formula concerning the properties of heat radiation, introduced in 1900, but its rederivation by Albert Einstein and Paul Ehrenfest in 1906 that led to the quantum revolution.
