Purpose: This study aims to examine the dietary compliance of children and adolescents with celiac disease (CD) and their diet quality (DQ) and dietary acid load (DAL) and to determine the relationship of these dietary parameters with health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Design/methodology/approach: Ninety-one children and adolescents with CD and 144 healthy peers were included in this cross-sectional study. Anthropometric measurements were conducted by researchers. DQ and DAL were calculated from participants' 24-h dietary recall records. HRQoL was assessed using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory, and compliance with a gluten-free diet (GFD) was obtained using the GFD score. Data was collected through a face-to-face questionnaire. Findings: Of celiac patients, 53.1% were strictly compatible with the GFD, and 35.8% were non-compliant with the diet. The DQ scores of participants with CD were higher than their healthy peers, and the DAL scores were lower (p < 0.01). Finally, no relationship was found between the DQ and DAL with HRQoL scores in celiac patients (p > 0.05). However, better dietary compliance with the GFD was associated with improved HRQoL (p < 0.05). Practical implications: While DQ and DAL had no association with HRQoL, better dietary compliance improved the HRQoL of celiac patients. This may help develop solutions to the problems experienced by celiac patients, thereby improving the management of CD. Background: This cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of technology addiction (TA) in adolescents, as well as investigate the association of TA with food addiction and emotional eating by body weight status. Methods: Adolescents (n = 1388) completed a questionnaire that featured socio-demographic characteristics, the Game Addiction Scale (GAS), the Social Media Disorder Scale (SMD), the dimensional Yale Food Addiction Scale for Children 2.0 (dYFAS‐C 2.0), and the Emotional Eating Scale Adapted for Use in Children and Adolescents (EES-C). The body mass index (BMI) Z-score was classified according to the World Health Organization. Results: TA was present in one-fifth of adolescents, and boys were four times more likely to develop a digital game addiction (p < 0.001). A 1-point increase in the GAS score is associated with a 1.08-point increase in the dYFAS-C-2.0 score and a 0.5-point increase in the total EES-C score (p < 0.001). A 1-point increase in the SMD score was also related to an increased of 1.21 and 1.26, respectively (p < 0.001). All of these positive associations were significant in adolescents with overweight (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Given the rapidly increasing prevalence of TA among adolescents, its association with food addiction, emotional eating, and body weight status is worrisome, and our findings shed light on the relevance of developing strategies to reduce the prevalence of TA in this population. In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between with G6PD, GPx, NADPH, rGSH and milk yield and milk quality, to evaluate the effect of these parameters on milk quality, in Holstein cattle. Milk samples were collected from 20 healthy Holstein cattle. Milk yield was obtained from routine farm datum. The analyses of milk fat %, protein %, lactose %, non-fat dry matter %, urea % and casein % were held by "milk components measuring instrument", and G6PD and GPx activities in milk cell supernatants along with NADPH, rGSH and the total protein levels were assessed by spectrophotometric methods. Milk lactose levels (%) were negatively correlated with milk cell G6PD activity (r=-0.574, P<0.05) and NADPH levels (r=-0.485, P<0.05). Milk cell G6PD activity (r=0.708, P<0.01) and milk cell NADPH levels (r=0.609, P<0.01) were positively correlated with somatic cell count. A positive correlation (r=0.630, P<0.01) was determined between the somatic cell count and milk cell NADPH levels. In conclusion, there was no correlation between milk yield and milk quality parameters with the related parameters, except for lactose levels, in healthy cattle milk. In this study, storage-related changes in the physico-chemical and sensory properties of non-fat fermented milk drinks that contain soy protein isolate (SPI), pea protein isolate (PPI), wheat gluten (WG) and rice protein (RP) were investigated. The addition of plant protein additives to milk beverage affected the pH, titratable acidity %, syneresis, viscosity, dry matter, ash, color ( L , b values), protein and amino acid contents (p < 0.01). During storage, the viscosity values showed an increase and protein additives increased amino acid levels in fermented milks beverage. The highest essential amino acid content was found in drinks containing SPI, with the most prevalent amino acids being lysine, leucine, isoleucine, methionine and threonine. The taste of fermented milks with PPI was preferred. In general, plant protein additives improved the sensory attributes. (p < 0.01). In conclusion, the use of plant protein additives in non-fat fermented milk drink formulations was shown to improve the physico-chemical and sensory properties and to increase the nutritional value of the formulations and therefore could be an alternative strategy for the development of new healthy dairy products. In this study, chitosan-bentonite beads were prepared by using bentonite and chitosan as fertilizer carrier materials and urea as fertilizer components. The prepared samples were named BUC0.2, BUC0.4 and BUC0.6 based on the bentonite ratios of 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.6% (weight/volume). In the FT-IR and XRD results, it was seen that the characteristic peaks of the bentonite structure became evident in the BUC0.6 sample, while chitosan peaks were dominant in the BUC0.2 sample, as expected. As the amount of bentonite increased, the swelling ratio generally increased from 31.6% to 48.6. In the nitrogen release experiments, a very rapid nitrogen release occurred in the first hours of release. It was thought to be due to the rapid dissolution of urea in water. The cumulative release percentage showed a slightly decreasing trend in the days following the release experiment. When nitrogen release profiles of the samples containing different amounts of bentonite were compared, it was observed that the nitrogen release curves were quite close to each other due to the lower bentonite ratio. Release percentages of the samples containing different amounts of bentonite were obtained between 61.2-67.7. Observations supported the efficient degradation of fertilizers in the soil environment. As a result, it was evaluated that the prepared materials were promising as environmentally friendly nitrogen fertilizer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of study was to determine the teacher opinions regarding community service practices implemented in three secondary schools in Eskişehir. Qualitative research design was used in the study and data were obtained using interviews. Research participants were 21 branch teachers who served in three secondary schools participated in the activities carried out under the project. As a result, teachers think that community service practices are useful for students and make it easy for them to act commonly, and this kind of practices increase awareness of students. Moreover, teachers have offered some suggestions like performing the activities in different places by using various materials and enabling parent participation for activities performed within the scope of research.
