In this study, synthesis and assessment of the corrosion inhibition of four new binary heterocyclic pyrimidinones on CS in 1.0 M hydrochloric acid solutions at various temperatures (30–50 °C) were investigated. The synthesized molecules were designed and synthesized through Suzuki coupling reaction, the products were identified as 5-((5-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)furan-2-yl)methylene)pyrimidine-2,4,6(1H,3H,5H)-trione (HM-1221), 2-thioxo-5-((5-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)furan-2-yl)methylene)dihydropyrimidine-4,6(1H,5H)-dione (HM-1222), 1,3-diethyl-2-thioxo-5-((5-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)furan-2-yl)methylene)dihydropyrimidine-4,6(1H,5H)-dione (HM-1223) and 1,3-dimethyl-5-((5-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)furan-2-yl)methylene)pyrimidine-2,4,6(1H,3H,5H)-trione (HM-1224). The experiments include weight loss measurements (WL), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP). From the measurements, it can be shown that the inhibition efficiency (η) of these organic derivatives increases with increasing the doses of inhibitors. The highest η recorded from EIS technique were 89.3%, 90.0%, 92.9% and 89.7% at a concentration of 11 × 10−6 M and 298 K for HM-1221, HM-1222, HM-1223, and HM-1224, respectively. The adsorption of the considered derivatives fit to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Since the ΔGoads values were found to be between − 20.1 and − 26.1 kJ mol−1, the analyzed isotherm plots demonstrated that the adsorption process for these derivatives on CS surface is a mixed-type inhibitors. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), atomic force microscope (AFM) and Fourier- transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were utilized to study the surface morphology, whereby, quantum chemical analysis can support the mechanism of inhibition. Copper-nickel alloys are the preferred material for desalination facilities and condensers and heat exchangers that use saltwater as a coolant. The eco-friendly compounds especially Carob fruit extract (CFE) has emerged as excessive green corrosion inhibitor for alloys. Cu-Ni alloys are widely used in various industries due to their excellent corrosion resistance. However, their performance can be compromised in aggressive environments like seawater (which is approximately 3.5% NaCl). To evaluate the corrosion behavior of these alloys and the effectiveness of corrosion inhibitors, researchers often employ weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and impedance spectroscopy techniques. The results showed that CFE exhibited a good ability to decrease the CR of alloys in 3.5% NaCl solution. The inhibition efficacy (IE) was reached to 92.6% and ̴ 83.2% at 300 ppm dose of CFE for Cu-10Ni alloy and Cu-30Ni alloy, respectively. The CR increases with temperature rising, but the addition of CFE reduces the CR, and the reduction depends on the dose of the extract. Adsorption of the extract gives a good fit to Langmuir, Temkin, and Freundlich isotherms model. The free adsorption energies of CFE on Cu-10Ni and Cu-30Ni alloys were 17.61 and 15.86 kJ mol−1, respectively, suggesting that CFE was weakly held to both alloys. The presence of a protective film on the alloys surface is confirmed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and atomic force microscope (AFM). The study suggests that utilizing affordable, natural substances as green corrosion inhibitors presents a new strategy for promoting both resource efficiency and environmental sustainability. Expired Famotidine was tested as a corrosion protection for α-brass in 1 M HCl using modified methods: weight loss (WL), Tafel polarization (TP), AC impedance spectra (EIS) and electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM). The polarization resistance (Rp) data increased with increasing famotidine dose. The inhibition efficiency (IE) improved with raising famotidine concentration. The maximum IE of 90% has been achieved at 300 ppm. On the other hand, the efficiency lowered with temperature increased. The outcome data obtained revealed that famotidine performed excellently as a corrosion inhibitor for α‑brass in this medium at dissimilar temperatures. A Novel 5,10,15,20-tetra (thiophen-2-yl) porphyrin (P1) and 5,10,15,20-tetrakis (5-Bromothiophen-2-yl) porphyrin (P2) were successfully synthesized, and their chemical structures were proved based on its correct elemental analysis and spectral data (IR and 1H-NMR). These compounds were examined as corrosion inhibitors for stainless steel 304 (SS304) in 2 M HCl utilizing mass reduction (MR) and electrochemical tests at inhibitor concentration (1 × 10–6–21 × 10–6 M). The protection efficiency (IE %) was effectively enhanced with improving the concentration of investigated compounds and reached 92.5%, 88.5% at 21 × 10–6 M for P1 & P2, respectively and decreases with raising the temperature. Langmuir's isotherm was constrained as the best fitted isotherm depicts the physical–chemical adsorption capabilities of P1 & P2 on SS304 surface with change in ΔGoads = 22.5 kJ mol−1. According to the PDP data reported, P1 and P2 work as mixed find inhibitors to suppress both cathodic and anodic processes. The corrosion behavior of Al in 1 M HCl solution with and without thiophene derivatives is studied utilizing altered chemical and electrochemical methods. Thiophene derivatives have been prepared and characterized by infrared (IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and mass spectral studies. The corrosion data were obtained using weight reduction and electrochemical techniques. The outcome data revealed that the efficiency rises with improving the dose of thiophene derivatives in aggressive solution, while it lowered with the rise of temperature. The adsorption of the studied thiophene derivatives on the surface of Al follows Langmuir isotherm. The thermodynamic parameters such as adsorption constant Kads and free energy of adsorption () are calculated and discussed. Polarization curves indicated that the thiophene derivatives are mixed-kind inhibitors. The quantum calculation such as EHOMO, ELUMO and ΔE were obtained and related to the experimental data. The influence of corrosion inhibition of some thiazole derivatives, namely: 2-(3,5-dimethyl-4-(p-tolyldiazenyl)-1H-pyrazole-1-yl)thiazol-5(4H)-one, 2-(3,5-dimethyl-4(phenyldiazenyl)-1H-pyrazole-1-yl)thiazol-5(4H)-one, and 2-(4-((4-chlorophenyl)diazenyl)-3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-1-yl)thiazol-5(4H)-one on Zn in 1.0 M HCl solution was studied by utilizing electrochemical and non-electrochemical tests. The obtained data without and with these derivatives were utilized to measure the protection efficiency (η %) which rises with the rise in the concentration of these derivatives. The phenomenon of physical adsorption was proposed and inhibitors adsorption was established to adapt Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Novel anionic 4-tert-Octylphenol Ethoxylated Phosphate Dipotassium salt (ethoxylated with 5 moles of ethylene oxide) surfactant was prepared and designated as OP-5-EO-K2PO, was characterized for its structure using spectroscopic measurements, in addition, its surface properties were investigated. The results indicated that OP-5-EO-K2PO exhibits excellent surface activity. Evaluation of the prepared surfactant as a corrosion inhibitor was carried out. The inhibition effect of OP-5-EO-K2PO surfactant, on the corrosion of C-steel in 0.5 M HCl was studied by potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM) techniques. It was found that the novel anionic surfactant acts as effective inhibitor and its inhibition efficiency was significantly increased with increasing concentration. Polarization curves revealed that the novel prepared anionic surfactant represents mixed-type inhibitors.
