This paper uses a drama-based method to illustrate the responses of healthcare and legal systems to women experiencing coercive control. This approach involved writing a play using the first-person narrative voice of a victim-survivor. We presented the play at the Stop Domestic Violence Conference (Gold Coast, Australia) in 2021. The central character, 'Kate', provided an embodied performance that enabled the conference participants to see, feel and understand experiences of coercive control from a personal perspective. We followed the trajectory of coercive control from the beginning of an intimate relationship to the time of separation. We showed how the process of coercive control escalates from love bombing, reproductive coercion, isolation, and technology-facilitated abuse until a point of police intervention. As Kate told her story, the conference audience witnessed the barriers and challenges faced by survivors of coercive control, and the emotional, financial, and psychological impacts that are intensified in geographically remote environments. They watched Kate navigate health and other systems meant to help women experiencing domestic and family violence, but that ultimately failed to deliver. Finally, the drama-based approach allowed us to present a feminist embodiment of coercive control and an innovative method for communicating inter-disciplinary research findings on domestic abuse. The significant proliferation of research papers in both conferences and journals has made it difficult for researchers to easily access relevant scholarly papers for academic learning. This has been a substantial problem for many researchers. Conferences, in comparison with journals, have an aspect of social learning and networking, which leads to personal familiarisation through various interactions among researchers. In this paper, we improve the social awareness of conference participants by proposing a novel folksonomy-based paper recommendation algorithm, called socially aware recommendation of scholarly papers (SARSP). SARSP recommends papers issued by active participants (APs), to other Group Profile Participants at the same conference based on preference similarity of their research interests. In addition, SARSP computes the social ties between an AP and other conference participants to effectively generate social recommendations of scholarly papers. We evaluate our proposed algorithm using a real-world data-set. Our experimental results confirm that SARSP has significant improvement over other existing methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Highlights from the article: Geoarchaeologists can be both geoscientists applying their expertise to archaeological problems or archaeologists using methods from geosciences, and it is a subdiscipline both of archaeology and geography, closely aligned to Quaternary science, and operates across the full-range of spatiotemporal scales. Highlighting this breadth of research and approaches in geoarchaeology, from landscape to material culture, was the focus of the Developing International Geoarchaeology conference (DIG2017), held at Newcastle University UK, September 4-7, 2017.

The article discusses the highlights of the 89th Annual Eastern Bird Banding Association Conference Paper Session which was held on March 31, 2012. Presented in the meeting were several research papers on birds. Background: In the past few years there has been a growing interest in the employment of verbal productions as digital biomarkers, namely objective, quantifiable behavioural data that can be collected and measured by means of digital devices, allowing for a low‐cost pathology detection, classification and monitoring. Numerous research papers have been published on the automatic detection of subtle verbal alteration, starting from written texts, raw speech recordings and transcripts, and such linguistic analysis has been singled out as a cost‐effective method for diagnosing dementia and other medical conditions common among elderly patients (e.g., cognitive dysfunctions associated with metabolic disorders, dysarthria). Aims: To provide a critical appraisal and synthesis of evidence concerning the application of natural language processing (NLP) techniques for clinical purposes in the geriatric population. In particular, we discuss the state of the art on studying language in healthy and pathological ageing, focusing on the latest research efforts to build non‐intrusive language‐based tools for the early identification of cognitive frailty due to dementia. We also discuss some challenges and open problems raised by this approach. Methods & Procedures: We performed a scoping review to examine emerging evidence about this novel domain. Potentially relevant studies published up to November 2021 were identified from the databases of MEDLINE, Cochrane and Web of Science. We also browsed the proceedings of leading international conferences (e.g., ACL, COLING, Interspeech, LREC) from 2017 to 2021, and checked the reference lists of relevant studies and reviews. Main Contribution: The paper provides an introductory, but complete, overview of the application of NLP techniques for studying language disruption due to dementia. We also suggest that this technique can be fruitfully applied to other medical conditions (e.g., cognitive dysfunctions associated with dysarthria, cerebrovascular disease and mood disorders). Conclusions & Implications: Despite several critical points need to be addressed by the scientific community, a growing body of empirical evidence shows that NLP techniques can represent a promising tool for studying language changes in pathological aging, with a high potential to lead a significant shift in clinical practice. WHAT THIS PAPER ADDS: What is already known on this subject: Speech and languages abilities change due to non‐pathological neurocognitive ageing and neurodegenerative processes. These subtle verbal modifications can be measured through NLP techniques and used as biomarkers for screening/diagnostic purposes in the geriatric population (i.e., digital linguistic biomarkers—DLBs). What this paper adds to existing knowledge: The review shows that DLBs can represent a promising clinical tool, with a high potential to spark a major shift to dementia assessment in the elderly. Some challenges and open problems are also discussed. What are the potential or actual clinical implications of this work?: This methodological review represents a starting point for clinicians approaching the DLB research field for studying language in healthy and pathological ageing. Conference papers originating from the 27th International Symposium on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Motor Neurone Diseases with a focus on in vitro experimental modeling are presented. The conference papers cover a range of topics which include a cellular model of ALS with SQSTM1 mutations and the oligomerization and subcellular localization of missense/in-frame deletion ALS2 mutants in cultured cells. The development of a biomolecular fluorescence complementation assay is mentioned.

The Journal for Individual Psychology plans to announce the topics for the upcoming issues and invites interested authors to submit articles. The topics for the upcoming issues are the conference proceedings of the DGIP Annual Conference 2022, nude pictures, education from an individual psychological perspective, and groups. Background: The traditional belief that attending medical conferences would further one's knowledge needs to be examined critically. Although analytical reports on the effectiveness of conferences have been published from Western countries, such studies have never been conducted in India. Materials and Methods: The author prospectively analyzed 100 free papers presented at the 30th National Conference of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons. Papers were categorized as original works, case reports, audit reports, innovations and theoretical papers. They were assessed for their scientific value, nature of conclusion, quality of discussion by authors and quality et quantity of audience interaction. Results: "Original works" and "innovations" frequently contributed additional information to the existing knowledge while most of the case reports, audit reports and theoretical papers were redundant. Nearly 40% of all papers had inappropriate conclusions. Only one author conferred all the five components of discussion while 32% of authors discussed nothing useful. Case reports, audit reports and theoretical papers topped the list of papers with inappropriate conclusion and poor discussion. About 24% of papers did not evoke any audience interaction. There was no significant difference in the enthusiasm of audience to interact with contributing versus redundant papers. Conclusion: Majority of case reports, audit reports and theoretical papers are found to be unsuitable for free paper session. To improve the quality of deliberations, the number of free papers should be reduced and the time allocation for each of them should be increased. Authors must be educated and reminded of the various components and importance of discussion. Whether audience at IAPS meetings react appropriately to free papers need to be evaluated further. There is a growing interest in realizing the benefits of continuous processing in biologics manufacturing, which is reflected by the significant number of industrial and academic researchers who are actively involved in the development of continuous bioprocessing systems. These efforts are further encouraged by guidance expressed in recent US FDA conference presentations. The advantages of continuous manufacturing include sustained operation with consistent product quality, reduced equipment size, high-volumetric productivity, streamlined process flow, low-process cycle times, and reduced capital and operating cost. This technology, however, poses challenges, which need to be addressed before routine implementation is considered. This paper, which is based on the available literature and input from a large number of reviewers, is intended to provide a consensus of the opportunities, technical needs, and strategic directions for continuous bioprocessing. Overall, the manuscript provides some assistance to users when selecting methods and tools to process single-cell transcriptome data to take full advantage of scRNA-seq. Some steps of the single-cell transcriptome analysis process have been highlighted, starting with the currently available single-cell transcriptome sequencing technologies, and the single-cell transcriptome sequencing data processing process, which describes the evaluation methods for single-cell transcriptome sequencing data processing methods. Traumatic wounds are one of the most common problems leading people to the Emergency Department (ED), accounting for approximately 5,4 % of all the visits, and up to 24 % of all the medical lawsuits. In order to provide a standardized method for wound management in the ED, we have organized a workshop, involving several Italian and European experts. Later, all the discussed statements have been submitted for external validation to a multidisciplinary expert team, based on the so called Delphi method. Eight main statements have been established, each of them comprising different issues, covering the fields of wound classification, infectious risk stratification, tetanus and rabies prophylaxis, wound cleansing, pain management, and suture. The increasing availability of high quality digital texts and usage data about them provides opportunities to identify new uses for collections, alternative ways to present and explore content, and expanded audiences for the materials. Using this information and a rapid development model called a “flash build,” JSTOR is creating and partnering with other organizations to build new tools that add value to library investments in digital collections. Two examples are discussed: “Classroom Readings,” a tool designed to help educators find articles on JSTOR that are good candidates for teaching, and “Understanding Shakespeare,” a resource created in collaboration with the Folger Shakespeare Library that enables scholars to follow links in lines from Shakespeare plays to articles on JSTOR that reference them. The 8th biennial national conference of the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (APAHC) was held in Detroit, MI, March 9-11, 2017. All speakers were invited to contribute manuscripts based on their conference presentations to this special issue of the Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings, and five presenters did so.
