Pectoral nerve blocks (Pecs I and Pecs II) are superficial thoracic wall blocks which block the pectoral and intercostal nerves. They can be used as analgesia/anesthesia for breast surgery and other procedures/surgeries involving the anterior chest wall (arteriovenous graft creation surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery and thoracotomy, etc.). The aim of this study is to evaluate publications in the scientific field of pectoral nerve blocks. ISI Web of Knowledge-Science was used for the analysis. All scientific works published included in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) from 1975 to January 27, 2019, were analyzed. A retrospective search was performed using key words "pectoral nerve block," "PECS I," "PECS II," "pecs block," "PECS block,""Pecs I," "Pecs II," "PECS 1," "PECS 2," and "modified pecs I block." We further analyzed these results by the "analyze" function of the software in terms of number of papers for each country, type of documentation, number of publications per year, and name of journals and authors. The number of citations to published works was also calculated by using the citation function of the same software. 72 papers were found related to pectoral nerve block. The biggest contribution was from India (24.28%), and followed by Japan (14.28%), USA (14.28%), Canada (7.14%), Egypt (7.14%), Italy (5.71%), and South Korea (5.71%). The total number of publications increased sharply in years from 2014 (n = 1) to 2018 (n = 28). We have detected that papers on the use of pecs block in breast cancer surgery, which is one of the most common surgical procedure in the world, are few in the literature. With this study, we hope to increase the awareness on this area. This research study aims to find out the research productivity of Nigerian and Indian authors to the library philosophy and practice from 2008 to 2013. The present study also finds the frequency of productivity, author collaboration, papers length, most cited papers, and most references as well as most productive authors. The present research finds the 226 research articles have been contributed by Nigerian authors and 193 papers have been contributed by Indian authors. The highest number of papers has been written by Nigerian authors was 76 in 2010 and from the Indian 60 papers were contributed in 2013. This present study identifies those 114 single authors from Nigeria and 80 from India. 116 papers from Nigerian authors those range 6-10 pages while 57 from India. The total numbers of references were used by Nigerian authors those were 4140 while Indian was used 3243 references from 2008 to 2013. The most productive authors S.Thanuskodi from India who wrote 09 papers and Dike Agah from Nigeria have contributed only 5 papers. Objectives: The main objective of this research is to identify highly cited papers in clinical pharmacology and to analyze their publication and citation data to study their citation characteristics, and understand what role contributing authors, participating research organizations as well as international collaborative countries play in Indian clinical pharmacology research. Design: The publications output of Indian clinical pharmacology papers published during 2000-14 were screened in Scopus database and highly cited papers, with at least 100 citations since publication, were identified and shortlisted for their bibliometric analysis. The statistics cover collaboration across authors, institutions, foreign participating countries in the publication of highly cited papers. To assess comparative contributions of authors/organizations, a new indicator, the Major Contributor Index (MCI), was used. Citation trends for all papers, as well as for top papers, are presented. Results: A total of 76 highly cited articles, constituting 1.45% share of world highly cited papers output and 0.75% share of India's publications output, were published by India in clinical pharmacology output during 2000-14. This study covered only those papers that received at least 100 citations since publication. In recent years, top-cited articles have reached their citation peak in the early years of their citation life cycle, but have shown a more-rapid decreasing trend compared to top-cited articles from past decades. These 76 highly articles have received 14059 citations, with an average citation per paper of 184.99. The leading Indian organizations participating in highly cited research papers were All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (7 papers), Panjab University, Chandigarh (6 papers), Jadavpur University, Kolkata (5 papers), National Institute of Mental Health & Allied Sciences, Bangalore, Aligarh Muslim University, Annamalai University, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Sathyabama University, Guru Jambeshwar University, Hisar, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh, Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar and Drug Research & Development Center, Kolkata (2 papers each). The leading authors were S.K. Bhattacharya (3 papers), J.K. Grover, S.P. Yadav, S. Garg, A.K. Singla, A.Garg, S. Ghosal, A. Bhattacharya, S. Khanna, A. Bhattacharya, S. Praveen and S.K.Sahoo (2 papers each). The leading international collaborative countries were USA (10 papers), Germany and U.K. (3 papers each), Japan, Russia Federation, Belgium and Canada (2 papers each). The MCI varied among leading organizations, as well as among individual authors. Conclusions: The output of highly cited papers by Indian authors in clinical pharmacology is still not significant given the fact that 208 authors contributed only one paper each once in 15 years, 11 contributed two papers each once in 15 years, and 1 contributed three papers once in 15 years. India still ranks 10th highest country with 1.45% share to the world output of highly cited papers compared to 61.41% share by USA. The quality of research in clinical pharmacology in India is though growing significantly over time, but there is very little evidence of corresponding growth in publication rate of highly cited papers in India. Indian surgeons have a substantial workload. But how much of it do we document and publish thus facilitating evidence-based practice? We undertook to document the contribution of Indian authors to the world literature in general surgery and to elicit the view of Indian surgeons regarding scientific publications. We carried out a search of articles in general surgical journals, published by Indian authors working in India. The journals chosen were those with an impact factor of more than 2. In addition, the Indian Journal of Surgery, with an impact factor of 0.55, was included as it is our flagship journal. The period of study was between January 2014 and April 2020. Additionally, a survey was carried out among the members of the Karnataka State Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India. The survey was designed to elicit responses from surgeons regarding their attitude towards surgical publications. In American Journal of Surgery, British Journal of Surgery and Annals of Surgery only one original publication each was found. In Canadian Journal of Surgery and Journal of American Medical Association Surgery there were no publications in the study period. Surgeons put forth several reasons for this lack of publication culture—the main ones being lack of motivation, lack of data and lack of training to write. It is clear that Indian authors contributed to a minuscule number of papers in scientific surgical journals. The culture of publication must be inculcated from an early stage of surgical training. Purpose: The study is an attempt to measure the research output of Indian Institute Technology (IITs) in quantitative manner as appeared in Web of Science (WoS) database from 1989 - 2018 (14.09.2018). In addition to measure the research output, the study aims to investigate the contribution made by the IITs, the most productive authors and their collaborative attitude with highly cited articles etc. Design/Methodology/Approach: To accomplish the objectives of the study, the relevant data for the study was obtained from Web of Science (WoS) database. The bibliographical data were recorded in MS-Excel 2007 sheet for the analysis and interpretation. Findings: The research output during the period of 1989-2018 (Till 14/09/2018) was 1,36,156 in total and the year 2017 appears to have the highest research output with 13,651 publications of the total 1,36,156. And year 1990 followed by 1999 and 2000 were found with least number of publications with negative growth. Research Limitations/Implications: The present study is confined to the contribution of the IITs available in WoS database and the research results are confined to this database only. Originality/Value: The study examines the research output of IITs with special reference to WoS database for the period of 29 years i.e. 1989 - Sept., 2018. The present study quantitatively analyze Indian dengue research output during the 10 years from 2003 to 2012, using Scopus international multidisciplinary database. The study focused on global publication output, share, rank, and citation impact of top 15 most productive nations, India's publications output, growth, global publication share and research impact, international collaborative papers share in national output and the share of major international collaborative partner countries in total India's international collaborative papers, contribution of various sub-fi elds and distribution by population age groups, productivity and citation impact of its leading Indian institutions and authors and Indian contribution in most productive journals. Indian contribution in dengue fever research consisted of 910 papers, which increased from 27 papers in 2003 to 193 papers in 2012, witnessing an annual average growth rate of 28.19%.Among the top 15 most productive countries, India holds second position in dengue fever research output, with global publication share of 10.22% during 2003-12. The average citation per paper scored by India was 3.27, the least among the top 15 most productive countries during 2003-12. India's share of international collaborative papers was 10.55% during 2003-12, which increased from 9.12% during 2003-07 to 11.13% during 2008-12. The present India's research efforts in dengue research are low in view of the 50,222 cases of dengue in 2012 alone. The country needs to increase its research output and also increase its research impact substantially particularly through enhanced national and international collaboration, besides evolving a national policy for identifi cation, monitoring and control of dengue cases and also evolving a research strategy with suffi cient funding commitment to solve this growing national problem. This paper explores the contributions of key diasporic South Asian writers and intellectuals, such as Mulk Raj Anand, to the BBC's broadcasts to India during the Second World War (1941-1943) when the tensions between nationalism, anti-fascism and anti-imperialism were intense. It explores how diasporic South Asian writers in Britain dealt with these tensions. It analyses how their different responses to these tensions found literary expression, and how media and cultural critics responded to these literary texts. It argues that the BBC did not speak with a unitary voice but provided a transcultural contact zone in metropolitan London and in doing so fostered intellectual networks in which diasporic Indian nationalism could be debated and critiqued. This paper analyses the articles and citations in Demography India from 1972 to 2001. Identifies core areas of demographic studies, institution-wise contribution of articles and geographical area pertaining to the articles. It determines the trend-line and five-yearly moving average of the year-wise distribution of collaboration coefficients for ascertaining the trends in the distribution of single and multi-authored articles. Obtains slight inclination of authors towards collaboration. Using regression analysis formulates Lotka's relationships and hence determines the values of constant K and index α in the relationship. Finds that Lotka's relationship is valid for authors with more than three publications only. Determines some closer relationship than Lotka's by using regression ranking. The study identifies most-cited journals, examines bibliographic forms of cited documents, average age of citations and rate of citation per article.
