Abstract Nowadays, point-of-care testing (POCT) techniques have achieved flourishing development in human health monitoring, where paper-based POCT platforms have exhibited superior properties of low cost, easy accessibility and eco-friendliness. For fabrication of paper-based POCT platforms, the pen-on-paper (PoP) strategies through directly writing desired functional materials on paper have been creatively developed in recent years. The PoP strategies are characterized by simplicity, rapid prototyping and do-it-yourself capability, and are also likely to realize scalable manufacturing through integration with software-controlled plotter. In this review, we firstly introduce various kinds of papers and pens employed in the PoP strategies, and then summarize the state-of-art advances of PoP strategies for making paper-based POCT platforms. Subsequently, we discuss the representative applications of PoP strategies for human health monitoring. Conclusions, current challenges and future perspectives of the PoP strategies for human health related POCT uses are finally given. This paper describes the curriculum model developed for an ambitious interprofessional education programme for health and social care professions implemented in two universities in the south of England (the New Generation Project). An outline of how the New Generation Project has interpreted the meaning of interprofessional learning is presented first. This is followed by an outline of the structure of the programme, describing both learning in common and interprofessional learning components. The pedagogies underpinning this curriculum initiative are presented and an integrated pedagogical model, facilitated collaborative interprofessional learning, is proposed. The article presents a paper that explores ways in which general practitioners make sense of the changing political economy of this relationship. It explains that the interpersonal relationship between doctor and patient is fundamental to general medical practice. However, it is restructured by ideas about the patient as consumer, and as it increasingly constitutes the consultation as a point of interaction that may be intrinsically therapeutic. In particular, ways are explored in which consultation is the site of negotiated power relations between doctor and patient, and is the site of the doctor's negotiation of powerful discourses of professional and institutional identity. It develops some ideas about the relationship between doctors and patients in general practice. It focuses on the ways in which the professional rhetoric of general practice has come to be organized around a very specific view of the possibilities that arise from this relationship.

The present paper aims at presenting the main ideas of the book "Relatia medic -pacient" written as a result of a post-doctoral project in bioethics. The volume structured in 6 chapters exposes gradually themes such as ethical theories applied in patient -doctor relationship, models of those types of relationships, issue of trust and patient autonomy in the medical care context, medical decisions and communication in patient - doctor relationship. In the economy of a few lines, I will try to expose those aspects that made from this volume a readable, useful and comprehensive one, for both practitioners in medical system but also for persons who are interested by this domain.
