Advanced high-strength steel is widely used in automobile production and manufacturing, for its advantages of light weight, high strength, and good formability. Compared with common steel plate, higher forming forces are required during the stamping forming process of advanced high-strength steel plate due to its continuous strength improvement. The higher forming forces directly result in a sharp increase in the reactive force on the stamping die, which easily cause inevitable fatigue deformation and damage fracture. In view of the above problems, the stamping forming process of an advanced high-strength steel anti-collision beam part and the loading bearing condition of the stamping die were explored. On basis of the theory of topology optimization, the structure of the stamping die was optimized to obtain the qualified stamping parts and the lesser quality punch. A method based on the node contact force conversion was proposed, and the reactive force on the stamping die during the forming process was obtained to function as the load boundary condition of topology optimization. Geometric reconstruction of the stamping die was implemented referring to the topology optimization results. The final result reveals that the lightweight punch and the qualified stamping part without fatigue deformation can be efficiently achieved through topology optimization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Surface texturing is one of the effective strategies to improve bioactivity of implantable materials. In this study, hierarchical micro and nano structure (HMN) were fabricated on Co–Cr–Mo alloy substrate by a movable picosecond laser irradiation. Respectively, microgrooves with nano ripples and islands were produced on Co–Cr–Mo alloy by low and high laser power density. X-ray diffraction apparatus (XRD) phase analysis illustrated that substrate was in the phase of γ- face-centered cubic structure (FCC) before laser treatment, while it was in ε-hexagonal closest packing structure (HCP) phase dominant after laser treatment. Cell adhesion and proliferation studies showed that the HMN surface exhibits enhanced adhesion of MC3TC-E1 osteoblast and promoted cell activity. Analyzing of the morphology of osteoblast cells indicated cells were in high ratio of elongation on the HMN surface, while they mainly kept in round shape on the polished surface. Results indicated the formation of hierarchical structure on Co–Cr–Mo alloy was able to improve biological performances, suggesting the potential application in cobalt based orthopedic implants. Boronized alloys with high surface hardness has been revealed advance in enhancing the anti-wear performance of critical mechanic components. However, its application in industrial production is greatly limited due to the poor mechanical properties with crystallographic orientated brittle borides. In the present study, we demonstrated that high ductility and high strength were achieved for the boronized AlCoCrFeNi 2.1 eutectic high entropy alloy (EHEA) with the formation of nano-sized borides. The AlCoCrFeNi 2.1 EHEA was treated with electrochemical boronizing method, and its phase formation was studied by x-ray diffraction (XRD), electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) and focused ion beam-transmission electron microscope (FIB-TEM). Results show that the nano-grained of FeB, NiB and Cr 3 B 4 with size of about 135.5 nm were formed on the boronized layer with non-preferred crystallographic orientation of the phase. The surface hardness of boronized AlCoCrFeNi2.1 EHEA reached to about 18 GPa, being about 4 times higher than that of the original alloy. Further investigation by tensile testing shows that the tensile strength of boronized samples is about 1.2 GPa with a respectable ductility of about 16.04% (± 0.49) tensile ductility to failure. Meanwhile, extension test and digital image correlation (XTDIC) test shows that the boronized layer failed when the tensile ductility is about 5.1%. The disordered nano-grained in the boronized layer benefit in preventing the formation and propagation of cracks, which improved the ductility of the boronized AlCoCrFeNi 2.1 EHEAs. The maintenance cost of a heavy truck increases due to the severe damage of thrust washer in the differential. The wear was usually related to the contact stress concentration. In the study, the finite element analysis (FEA) was performed for identifying the source of the abnormal wear of thrust washer. An improved approach of modifying the surface profile of spider gear back was proposed. FEA simulations were further conducted to investigate the effect of different spider gear back parameters on the tribological behavior of thrust washer. The FEA simulation results were verified by tribological experiments. Results showed that: (i) the abnormal wear of thrust washer pairing the original gear was caused by the local stress concentration; (ii) the local stress concentration could be eliminated by modifying the surface profile of spider gear back; (iii) using the modified spider gear back, the wear mass loss of the thrust washer was reduced significantly; (iv) the promising surface radius of spider gear back was 73.15 mm. Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with decreased heart rate variability (HRV) with an unclear intermediate mechanism. This study aimed to conduct mediation analysis to explore the impact of various adipose tissues on the relationship between T2DM and HRV. Methods: A total of 380 participants were enrolled for analysis, including 249 patients with T2DM and 131 non-diabetic controls. The thicknesses of four adipose tissues (subcutaneous, extraperitoneal, intraperitoneal, and epicardial) were measured by abdominal ultrasound or echocardiography respectively. HRV was assessed by 24-hour Holter for monitoring both frequency domain indices (LF, HF, and LF/HF) and time domain indices (SDNN, SDANN, SDNN index, rMSSD and pNN50). Mediation analysis was used toexamine whether adipose tissues mediated the relationship between T2DM and each index of HRV. Then, a latent variable - HRV burden - was constructed by structural equation model with selected HRV indices to comprehensively assess the whole HRV. Results: Compared to non-diabetic controls, patients with T2DM exhibited a significant reduction in indices of HRV, and a remarkable increase in the thicknesses of extraperitoneal, intraperitoneal, and epicardial adipose tissues. Mediation analysis found significant indirect effects of T2DM on six indices of HRV, including HF, SDNN, SDANN, SDNN index, rMSSD, and pNN50, which was mediated by epicardial adipose tissue rather than other adipose tissues, with the mediation proportions of 64.21%, 16.38%, 68.33%, 24.34%, 24.10% and 30.51%, respectively. Additionally, epicardial adipose tissue partially mediated the relationship between T2DM and reduced HRV burden (24.26%), which composed by SDNN, SDNN index, rMSSD, and pNN50. Conclusion: Epicardial adipose tissue partially mediated the relationship between T2DM and reduced HRV, which reinforces the value of targeting heart-specific visceral fat to prevent cardiac autonomic neuropathy in diabetes. The technical solution of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has the following features: good controllability; simple thrust control; high precision; long operating life; low cost; strong adaptability, repeatability, maneuverability, and imperceptibility. So the UAV has widespread application prospects. The position sensor of the mover of UAV linear electromagnetic ejection is the key component of control system. It has a direct influence on performance, structure, and reliability of the system. As the sensors such as linear photoelectric encoder and magnetic encoder are not able to meet the demand of high speed control, the paper develops the research on the detection methods of the mover position. First, the paper presents a detection method of mover position based on sliding mode observer. Due to the flicker problem of sliding mode observer, the paper then proposes a detection method based on state observer, and the method can result in smooth detected position of the mover. Fretting wear is one of the main factors restricting the fastener service reliability for the high-temperature titanium alloys. Enhancing the high-temperature fretting wear resistance of titanium alloys with laser cladding coatings is an effective method. Thus, in this work, a self-lubricating composite coating was designed and fabricated on the surface of TC21 titanium alloy with laser cladding. Special attentions were made to the effect of the fractions of the hard and self-lubricating phases on high-temperature fretting resistance. In addition, the contribution of laser cladding power was also concerned. The primary phases of the self-lubricating composite coatings are α-Co, CaF 2 , WC, TiC and Cr 23 C 6 , and the reasons for the formation of TiC and Cr 23 C 6 are investigated from a thermodynamic point. The prepared composite coatings are dense and uniform. The crystallographic characteristics and the volume fractions of the hard phases (WC, TiC and Cr 23 C 6) and self-lubricating phase (CaF 2) were revealed, and the effect of grain size on the coating properties was analyzed. The hardness of the coatings were all maintained around 700 HV 0.2 , which was significantly higher than that of the substrate. The composite coating significantly improves the friction and wear resistance at 500 ℃. The hard phase was also found to be the most resistant to friction and wear. The frictional performance of the coating gets better when the hard phase and the self-lubricating phase increase. However, the hard phase contributes more to the high-temperature friction and wear resistance than the self-lubricating phase and the wear volume is 1/40 that of substrate. For the laser cladding power, the higher power can lead to a higher fraction of CaF 2 but a lower fraction of hard phase, causing a decline in COF but an increase in wear volume. The wear mechanisms of the coating and the substrate were analyzed, the subsurface stress distribution state of the wear scars were further analyzed. The current results present new insights on the anti-wear design strategy to the composite coatings consist of hard and self-lubricating phase. The synergistic effect of lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) corrosion and fretting on the damage of a 316 stainless steel was thoroughly investigated. The interaction between the LBE corrosion and fretting plays a key role in materials damage. The dissolution of Ni element leads to a large number of vacancies, lattice defects and built-in internal strain, making the material itself more prone to damage during the wear. Additionally, the shear strain induced by fretting can break the oxide layer formed during friction, leading to the exposure of new materials. This study can provide essential information on damage of heat transfer tubes. TiZrHfTa 0.5 refractory high-entropy alloy (RHEA) shows great strength and ductility trade-off at ambient temperature, and has a lot of potential for use at elevated temperature. In this work, the effect of B element addition on the wear properties at different temperatures was thoroughly investigated. The results revealed that 1 at% B addition sample presents the best tribological properties at elevated temperatures, and borides exhibit a morphology evolution from blocky to acicular with the increasing B content. The wear rates at ambient and elevated temperatures successfully decrease with the increasing B content, which is ascribed to the increasing hardness, the solution strengthening, and the pinning effect at the grain boundaries induced by the second phase. In addition to the B content, the wear test temperature also significantly affects wear properties. With the analysis of the wear behavior and worn surface, it is demonstrated that the lowest wear rate at 600 ℃ is attributed to the continuous and densified oxide layer, while the serious wear at 400 ℃ results from the uncovered matrix and loose oxide layer. This work offers a new method to improve the wear properties of RHEAs at ambient and elevated temperatures. • The addition of B element for TiZrHfTa 0.5 RHEA results in the preferable wear performance at RT, 400 ℃ and 600 ℃. • The wear performance at 600 ℃ for four types of samples present the lowest wear rate. • The continuous and densified oxide layer formed at 600 ℃ contributes to the lowest wear rate. • The loose oxide layer formed in 400 ℃ leads to more metal fragments and more serious wear. The influence of anti-oxidation property of nanoparticles on the tribological properties is rarely reported. In this study, the alkyl-functionalized graphene oxide (FGO) and alkyl-functionalized boric acid (FBA) were fabricated as oil additives to explore their lubrication effectiveness. FBA exhibited remarkable lubricating properties which reduced friction coefficient by approximately 24 % and the wear depth by about 94 %. However, the friction coefficient and wear depth of FGO were reduced by only 9.5 % and 44 %, respectively. Worn surface analysis shows a bunch of deep-plowing on rubbing surface in the case of FGO, while the wear scar was smooth and almost wear-free for FBA. Lubrication mechanism analysis by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy revealed the formation of carbon-based tribofilm for FGO and boron-based tribofilm for FBA during rubbing. In the thermal behavior analysis, graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles were completely decomposed at 650 °C, whereas, B 2 O 3 nanoparticles remained stable. It indicated that the excellent thermal stability and anti-oxidation property of boron-based tribofilm benefited to the lubrication enhancement. This study highlights the importance of oxidation resistance in designing novel nanoparticle additives, and the enhancement of oxidation resistance of GO will be a promising way to further application as oil additives. The CoNi, CoFeNi and CoCr x FeNi (x = 0.2, 0.6, 1) alloys were undercooled and in-situ observed. Sluggish dendrite growth was found for the CoCrFeNi alloy, e.g., the maximum dendrite growth velocity decreases by nearly two orders from the CoNi (78 m s−1) to the CoCrFeNi (0.83 m s−1) alloy. It was shown that it is the Cr element and its adding amount but not the number of components that plays a more decisive role in sluggish dendrite growth. The current work might be helpful for understanding rapid solidification, thereby further controlling the microstructures and modulating the mechanical properties of high entropy alloys. The CoNi equiatomic alloy was undercooled and spontaneously solidified using the glass fluxing method. The dendrite growth behaviors were recorded by a high-speed high-resolution camera. Three dendrite growth stages (i.e., the power law growth stage when undercooling Δ T <120 K, the plateau growth stage when 120 K<Δ T <135 K and the linear law growth stage when Δ T >135 K) were found and well predicted by a dendrite growth model. For the as-solidified microstructures, the average grain size increases with undercooling, indicating that unique grain "coarsening" instead of common spontaneous grain refinement occurs. Such a grain "coarsening" phenomenon was ascribed to stress accumulation upon rapid solidification. Furthermore, a plenty of sub-grains were observed within the abnormal coarse grains. From the electron back-scattering diffraction results, the angle difference between neighbouring sub-grains was less than 6°. The current work might be helpful for not only theoretically understanding dendrite growth but also practically controlling the non-equilibrium microstructures. • Rapid solidification of CoNi equiatomic alloy was studied using the glass fluxing method. • Three growth stages were observed and well predicted by the dendrite growth model. • Sub-grains within the coarse grains were identified by electron back-scattering diffraction. • A unique grain "coarsening" phenomenon for the as-solidified microstructures was reported.
