Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), which are powered by Maxwell's displacement current, have a wide range of applications, including energy harvesting and self-powered sensors. However, very little attention has been paid to the effect of the ferromagnetic medium on TENG displacement current. Herein, flexible ferrimagnetic poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (P(VDF–HFP))/nickel ferrite (NiFe 2 O 4) fiber composite film based TENGs were fabricated and their performances were analysed. Highly crystalline, ferrimagnetic NiFe 2 O 4 nanofibers with high aspect ratio were prepared using electrospinning technique by systematic optimization of spinning parameters. Thereafter, the fibers were reinforced into the polymeric matrix to improve the β–phase and dielectric constant which in turn significantly enhanced the TENG performance. The β–phase enhancement in the composite films was confirmed by XRD and FTIR analysis; 77 % of the β–phase was achieved with the incorporation of NiFe 2 O 4 fiber. Morphological features were examined using SEM and AFM, which revealed more β–phase spherulite formation in the composite films. A notable increase in the dielectric properties was evidenced with the addition of NiFe 2 O 4 fibers and a maximum dielectric constant of∼26 was attained at 100 Hz. The TENG was developed using P(VDF-HFP)/NiFe 2 O 4 and nylon which generated an output voltage (V pp) and current (I pp) values of 584 V and 25 μA, respectively. Furthermore, the performance of TENG under an external magnetic field was examined, and a notable improvement in performance was observed, paving the way for the application of NiFe 2 O 4 fibers in hybrid energy harvesters and self-powered sensors. This research is focused on designing new ceramic oxides with the spinel structure for a potential application as sensitive temperature and magnetic field sensors. In this respect, the mixtures of ferrimagnetic NiFe 2 O 4 with low-resistive Ni 0.66 Cu 0.41 Mn 1.93 O 4 semiconductor (molar coefficient α = 1 / 5 and 1 / 2) were prepared using the chemical co-precipitation technique followed by a low-temperature sintering of the cold-pressed powders. For the prepared materials, a variation of the electrical conductivity σ dc with temperature T (in the range 50 K–400 K) is quantitatively analyzed using different theoretical concepts of the charge carrier hopping transport occurring in disordered materials with strong electron-phonon interaction. It has been shown that an increase in α from 0 to 1 / 2 causes a step-like change of the dc electrical conductivity and, simultaneously, a gradual change in the magnetization M determined in the saturation state. The temperature coefficient of resistance T C R of the prepared ceramics takes the values from −0.6%/K (at 400 K) to −19.6%/K (below 100 K). The highest absolute value of the magneto-resistance coefficient M R determined at 150 K (and at magnetic field 7 T) registered for ceramic oxide with α = 1 / 2 was found to be 3.4%. By employing Monte Carlo simulation with the metropolis algorithm, the magnetic properties of hexagonal decorated nanoparticle with a mixed-spin (3/2, 1) configuration under an applied magnetic field were analyzed. The influence of exchange couplings and anisotropies on the magnetic and thermodynamic properties of the system were studied. We obtained the various characteristic curves of the magnetization, susceptibility, internal energy, specific heat, and hysteresis loops. The multiple-loop hysteresis behaviors were discovered under certain conditions. Furthermore, we also plotted the variation curve of magnetization with the external magnetic field under the effect of different parameters and found that the magnetization plateaus are based on the exchange couplings, anisotropies, and spin state. We investigated the dynamic phase transitions (DPTs) in the mixed spin (2, 5/2) Blume-Emery-Griffiths model with repulsive biquadratic interaction in the presence of a time-varying magnetic field. We used the path probability method to obtain the set of the dynamic equations. We numerically solved these dynamic equations to characterize the nature of first- and second-order phase transitions and to find the DPT temperatures as well as obtain the phases in the system. We constructed the dynamic phase diagrams (DPDs) in reduced temperature and amplitude of oscillating magnetic field plane. We observed that the DPDs display richer, complex and more topological various type of phase diagrams. In particular, DPDs exhibit the disordered phase, antiquadrupolar or staggered phase, six different ferrimagnetic phases, three different nonmagnetic phases, and numerous mixed phases. DPDs also display two dynamic tricritical points for only smaller values of crystal-field interactions, multiple critical end and double critical end points, one zero-temperature critical point, one inverse critical end point, and a quadruple point depending on interaction parameters. The system always shows the reentrant behaviors for the higher values of magnetic field amplitude, but it does not exhibit the dynamic tricritical behavior for higher values of crystal-field parameter. Fluorescence detection is currently one of the commonly used techniques worldwide. Through this work, the preparation and optical properties of an interesting composite material are discussed. It is shown that encapsulating cobalt spinel ferrite (CoFe2O4), obtained by the sol-gel autocombustion method, into poly[diphenyl-co-methyl(H)]silane matrix leads to fluoromagnetic particles (PSCo) with intriguing optical properties. Transmission electron microscopy, combined with energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, showed 500 nm large spherical structures containing a core (around 400 nm in diameter) composed of magnetic ferrite particles, surrounded by a thin layer of semiconductive fluorescent polymer. The as-obtained material exhibited ferrimagnetic properties. The FTIR spectrum confirmed that the Si-H functionality of the polysilane was preserved. UV spectroscopy combined with molecular modeling studies indicated that the magnetic core had a strong influence on the intramolecular electron transitions characteristic of the σ-conjugated polysilane. Further analysis by steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy revealed that the internal magnetic field strongly enhances the polysilane emission. In the present work, [Co (1-(x + y)) Mg x Ni y ][Cr 2 ]O 4 (CMNCr)(where, x = y = 0, 0.10, 0.20) NPs are examine in detail by using experimental results. Solution combustion method is adopted to prepare the CMNCr NPs. Experimental results were studied to understand structure (using XRD), microstructure (using SEM) and magnetic behaviour (using SQUID). The structural analysis was confirmed a single-phase spinel cubic structure with singular structural distortions associated with Mg–Ni doping and the generation of metal vacancies. SEM micrographs of all samples reveal their highly porous nature. EDS was utilized to examine the elemental analysis of the samples. The formation of spinel cubic structure without impurity were also confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and the same tool is used to investigate the absorption bands related to the A-site and B-site. For all samples, paramagnetic phase to ferrimagnetic phase transition observed at T C and conical spiral spin order transition observed at T S. The curie temperature is found to be 98 K, 89 K, and 85 K for [Co][Cr 2 ]O 4 , [Co 0.8 Mg 0.1 Ni 0.1 ][Cr 2 ]O 4 and [Co 0.6 Mg 0.2 Ni 0.2 ][Cr 2 ]O 4 samples, respectively. The spiral transition temperature is found to be 26 K, 14 K and 8 K for [Co][Cr 2 ]O 4 , [Co 0.8 Mg 0.1 Ni 0.1 ][Cr 2 ]O 4 and [Co 0.6 Mg 0.2 Ni 0.2 ][Cr 2 ]O 4 samples, respectively. All of the samples exhibit paramagnetic behaviour above T C. The negative magnetization effect were observed in [Co 0.6 Mg 0.2 Ni 0.2 ][Cr 2 ]O 4 NPs. 20% of Mg and 20% of Ni substitution to Co site in [Co][Cr 2 ]O 4 leads to the evident magnetization reversal at the compensation temperature with an applied magnetic field of 100 Oe. The M − H loop at 10 K exhibits large coercivity due to the spiral spin ordering. This phenomenon of negative magnetization in the material results in a stable state of magnetization in the material, which has significant applications in the field of magnetic storage devices. The power generated thereby is extremely high: two orders of magnitude higher than that of the conventional Néel-Brownian model. From micromagnetic simulation and analytical derivation, we found robust correlations between the temperature increment and the intrinsic material parameters of the damping constant as well as the saturation magnetizations of the nanoparticles' constituent materials. Furthermore, the magnetization–dissipation-driven temperature increments were reliably manipulated by extremely low strengths of applied AC magnetic fields under resonance field conditions. The electromagnetic (EM) properties of shielded gyromagnetic spheres are characterized with the aid of an electrodynamic model formulated for the transverse electric (TE) modes of an isotropic sphere, in a similar way as dielectric resonators are commonly analyzed. Broadband characteristics of geometric and energy filling factors are presented. A new measure of the magnetic loss tangent is introduced which is positive despite the intrinsic permeability of the gyromagnetic medium being negative, where existing definitions yield a non-physical negative value. The sample size dependence of those quantities is also assessed. The conclusions from the analysis are applied to investigate and de-embed ferromagnetic linewidth errors which can occur in broadband measurements of magnetic garnet spheres. Magnetic anisotropy fields and the gyromagnetic $g$ -factor are also estimated from the measurement data. Experiments were performed in a two-port subwavelength cavity, covering a frequency range of up to 28 GHz. Additionally, two-port rectangular resonant cavity linewidth measurements at a few modes have been conducted. Good agreement between the two methods is found if the systematic error is accounted for. Copper-containing ferrimagnetic glass-ceramic with the following composition: 24.7% SiO 2 -8.5% CaO-13.5% Na 2 O-3.3% P 2 O 5 -31% Fe 2 O 3 -14% FeO–5CuO (wt%) was synthesized by means melt and quenching process both in powder and bulk form. The obtained samples were characterized and compared by means morphological, compositional and structural analyses. The magnetic properties and the ability to release heat were also investigated together with the antimicrobial properties towards S. aureus strain. The obtained results showed that copper introduction and the annealing process influenced the nucleation of crystalline phases; in particular the samples produced in powder form evidenced a low amount of magnetite and thus a reduced hysteresis area and ability to produce heat when exposed to an alternating magnetic field. While Cu-containing samples in the bulk form maintained the magnetic and calorimetric properties of pristine glass-ceramic. Preliminary evaluation of antibacterial properties demonstrated Cu-doped samples were not able to reduce the bacterial proliferation and thus the need to optimize the copper introduction process. Sr-hexaferrite samples were produced via the conventional ceramic method. X-ray diffractometry (XRD) patterns confirmed the single nanocrystal phase as Sr-hexaferrite (SHF) where any pattern peaks of unreacted Fe2O3 phase were not detected. The mean crystallite size values were determined to be 44 ± 3 nm and 41 ± 3 nm for SHF-O1 and SHF-O2, respectively. The chemical bonding peaks of our sample indicated that the structure of Sr-hexaferrite formation was confirmed by FTIR spectra result. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images indicated clearly observed porosity regions with relative densities as high as 94 % and 87 % for SHF-O1 and SHF-O2 samples. The vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) of each sample at 2K and under a magnetic field of 10 kOe yielded saturation magnetizations, Ms of 93.5 and 94.1 emu/g; remanence values, Mr of 76.4 and 67.8 emu/g for SHF-O1 and SHF-O2, respectively. The magnetization loops of both samples indicated a soft ferrimagnetic behaviour in which the saturation magnetizations were higher than those measured at room temperature in the previous studies. The coercivities, Hc were measured to be 150Oe for both samples. The squareness values, SQR (Mr/Ms) were measured to be high, approximately 0.82 and 0.72 for SHFO1 and SHF-O2, respectively. Depending on the adequate values of magnetization an coercivity along with small mean crystallite size and low porosity values of the obtained Sr-hexaferrite samples, we estimate that these samples are likely to be evaluated further for the potential use as thermoseeds in the field of clinical hyperthermia. Polycrystalline samples of DyCo 9 Si 4 with the tetragonal LaFe 9 Si 4 -type structure have been synthesized by arc melting and high-temperature annealing. Results of the magnetization M and specific heat C p measurements show the existence of two magnetic anomalies at T C = 40 K and T m = 20 K. The transition at T C = 40 K is attributed to the ferromagnetic transition of the Co sublattice. The magnetic moments of Dy3+ appear to align gradually below T C , and almost fixed below T m , at which a broad maximum in C p has been observed. Field-dependent M at T = 2 K up to H = 7 T suggested that the magnetic moment of Dy3+ is coupled antiferromagnetically with those of Co, forming a ferrimagnetic structure. Magnetization measurements up to 50 T at low temperatures using a pulse magnet demonstrated a spin-flip transition around H = 20 T, above which the magnetic moments of Co and Dy are in parallel. The spin-flip transition becomes broad with increasing temperature but still remains at T C = 40 K, indicating a strong antiparallel coupling between Co and Dy moments even in the paramagnetic state. The magnetocaloric effect was evaluated from C p and M , and also from the sample-temperature variation in the quasi-adiabatic process with the pulsed magnetic field. The maximum entropy change for the field change from 5 to 0 T was observed at around T = T m with the value Δ S = 5 J/kg K. The maximum temperature of Δ S shifts to higher temperatures in high magnetic fields, resulting in the large value of Δ S = 24 J/kg K at T ∼ T C by the field change from 50 to 0 T. The present results demonstrate that the pulsed-field measurement is a powerful method to evaluate the magnetocaloric effect of materials. ● Physical properties of DyCo 9 Si 4 are reported for the first time. ● Step-like increase of the magnetization curve is observed at low temperature. ● Antiparallel coupling of Dy/Co magnetic moments remains in the paramagnetic state. ● Pulsed field measurement enables a quick and reliable magnetocaloric evaluation. ● Large magnetocaloric effect of 24 J/kg K is observed at T = 40 K. This work investigates the microwave absorption property of the ferrimagnetic double perovskite, Sr2FeMoO6 (SFMO) using two different methods: magnetoimpedance (MI) and lock-in based broadband magnetic resonance detection. In the MI method, radio frequency (rf) current (f = 0.001 to 2.8 GHz) is injected into the sample. When dc magnetic field is swept, rf resistance exhibits a single sharp peak centred at H = 0 for f < 0.1 MHz. As f increases, the peak at H = 0 transforms into a dip accompanied by symmetrical double peaks at H = ±HP, which we attribute to the ferromagnetic resonance within the grains. HP increases with increasing frequency of the current. In the lock-in based broadband method the sample, placed on top of a coplanar waveguide, experiences an intense microwave magnetic field from the waveguide, and the field derivative of microwave power absorption is measured as the dc magnetic field is swept. Correlation between MI and microwave power absorption is shown. Landé g factors obtained from both the measurements are close, equal to 2.085, which implies the presence of Fe3+ cations. Large ac magnetoresistance in SFMO compared to its dc value, dominated by the dynamics of transverse permeability and ferromagnetic resonance within grains could be exploited for high-frequency device applications. Fault kinematics can provide information on the relationship and assembly of tectonic units in an orogen. Magnetic fabric studies of faults where pseudotachylytes form have recently been used to determine direction and sense of seismic slip in prehistoric earthquakes. Here we apply this methodology to study magnetic fabrics of pseudotachylytes in field structures of the Köli Nappe Complex (central Swedish Caledonides), with the aim to determine fault kinematics and decipher the role of seismic faulting in the assembly of the Caledonian nappe pile. Because the pseudotachylyte veins are thin, we focused on small (ca. 0.2 to 0.03 cm 3) samples for measuring the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility. The small sample size challenges conventional use of magnetic anisotropy and results acquired from such small specimens demand cautious interpretation. Importantly, we find that magnetic fabric results show inverse proportionality among specimen size, degree of magnetic anisotropy and mean magnetic susceptibility, which is most likely an analytical artifact related to instrument sensitivity and small sample dimensions. In general, however, it is shown that the principal axes of magnetic susceptibility correspond to the orientation of foliation and lineation, where the maximum susceptibility (k1) is parallel to the mineral lineation, and the minimum susceptibility (k3) is dominantly oriented normal to schistosity. Furthermore, the studied pseudotachylytes develop distinct magnetic properties. Pristine pseudotachylytes preserve a signal of ferrimagnetic magnetite that likely formed during faulting. In contrast, portions of the pseudotachylytes have altered, with a tendency of magnetite to break down to form chlorite. Despite magnetite breakdown, the altered pseudotachylyte mean magnetic susceptibility is nearly twice that of altered pseudotachylyte, likely originating from the Fe-rich chlorite, as implied by temperature-dependent susceptibility measurements and thin-section observations. Analysis of structural and magnetic fabric data indicates that seismic faulting occurred during exhumation into the upper crust, but these data yield no kinematic information on the direction and sense of seismic slip. Additionally, the combined structural field and magnetic fabric data suggest that seismic faulting was postdated by brittle E–W extensional deformation along steep normal faults. Although the objective of finding kinematic indicators for the faulting was not fully achieved, we believe that the results from this study may help guide future studies of magnetic anisotropy with small specimens (<1 cm 3), as well as in the interpretation of magnetic properties of pseudotachylytes. Compared with ferromagnetic counterparts, antiferromagnetic materials are considered as the future of spintronic applications since these materials are robust against the magnetic perturbation, produce no stray field, and display ultrafast dynamics. There are (at least) two sets of magnetic moments in antiferromagnets (AFMs) (with magnetization of the same magnitude but antiparallel directions) and ferrimagnets (with the magnetization of the different magnitude). The coupled dynamics of the bipartite collinear AFMs is modeled by a coupled system of Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equations with additional terms originated from the interlattice exchange, which leads to femtosecond magnetization dynamics in AFMs. In this article, we develop three Gauss–Seidel projection methods for micromagnetics simulation in AFMs and ferrimagnets. They are first-order accurate in time and second-order accurate in space, and only solve linear systems of equations with constant coefficients at each step. Di-phase 0.66BaTiO 3 –0.33Co 0.8 Zn 0.2 Fe 2 O 4 ceramic composites with randomly mixed phases have been obtained by conventional sintering method (CM) and Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). The impact of sintering method on the structural, microstructural and functional properties is comparatively analysed. The dielectric properties are dominated by the BaTiO 3 phase, with contributions from the interfaces mostly on the dielectric relaxation properties, while the ferrimagnetic character of the composite is derived from the ferrite phase as a sum property. Both CM and SPS ceramics show bi-tunable character, i.e. their permittivity can be modified by the application of both electric and magnetic fields. A high dielectric nonlinearity is mostly characteristic to the ceramics with larger grains. The electrical tunability tends to reduce by the application of a magnetic field an almost is cancelled in the SPS ceramic. The two types of ceramics show opposite signs of their magnetocapacitance properties, indicating that they have different origins. A microwave filter realised with these two types of ceramics have been tested. With increasing magnetic field from 0 to 1.9 kOe (above the magnetic coercive field), the resonance frequency can be up/down shifted, as result of the positive/negative magnetoelectric coupling. We investigate some critical phenomena of a Ising ferrimagnetic system on a square lattice with spins $Q=\pm 7/2, \pm 5/2, \pm 3/2$ , and ±1/2 in a $B$ sublattice and spins $S=\pm 5/2, \pm 3/2$ , and ±1/2 in a $A$ sublattice in presence of an $h'$ external magnetic field, such that $Q$ and $S$ are the nearest-neighbors ferrimagnetically coupled. Using Monte Carlo simulations, we calculate the finite-temperature phase diagrams of magnetization, specific heat, and magnetic susceptibility of the model. The system is defined by a Hamiltonian $(\mathcal {H})$ that contains ferromagnetic next-nearest-neighbors interactions between $S$ spins ($J'_{2}$), as well as external magnetic field and anisotropy interactions at each point of lattice. For a defined range of parameters in $\mathcal {H}$ , the system exhibits discontinuities in their physical variables and spin compensation behaviors. In the planes $J'_{2}-k_{\mathrm{ B}}T'$ and $h'-k_{\mathrm{ B}}T'$ , we analyze the relationship between the critical, compensation, and discontinuous phase transition temperatures with the external magnetic field and the next-nearest-neighbors interaction between $S$ spins. Abstract Magnesium and calcium co-substituted Ba M-type nanohexaferrite (NHFs) is fabricated via sol-gel auto-combustion technique. The phase formation was proved by XRD powder pattern, FESEM and HR-TEM. Magnetic properties of Ba 1-2x Ca x Mg x Fe 12 O 19 (x ≤ 0.1) NHFs investigated by Mossbauer Spectroscopy. The variations in line width, quadrupole splitting, isomer shift, the cation distribution of Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions and hyperfine magnetic field values were estimated. The AC magnetic susceptibility and ZFC-FC measurements were also performed for the Ba 1-2x Ca x Mg x Fe 12 O 19 (x = 0.02 and 0.08) NHFs. The M FC -M ZFC results do not show blocking temperature peak, indicating the ferrimagnetic (FM) behavior of prepared products. Different models including Neel-Arhenius (N-A), Vogel-Fulcher (V-F) and critical slowing down (CSD) were tested to evaluate the AC-magnetic susceptibility behaviors. In 3 d − 4 f intermetallic compounds, a Co substitution for Fe usually strengthens the exchange interactions due to a shift of the Fermi energy to a region of the 3 d band with higher density of states. Here, we study the influence of Co on the magnetism of ferrimagnetic DyFe 5 Al 7 using magnetization measurements in static (up to 14 T) and pulsed (up to 58 T) magnetic fields. We find that the homogeneity range of DyFe 5− x Co x Al 7 is limited to x ≤ 2.5 . The Co substitution for Fe produces a strong detrimental effect on the 3 d − 3 d intrasublattice exchange interactions, which leads to a pronounced decrease of the Curie temperature and of the 3 d − 4 f intersublattice exchange field. A reduction of the density of states at the Fermi level might occur due to a broadening of the 3 d band. A decrease of the rare-earth contribution to the magnetic anisotropy energy is also observed with increasing Co content. This is attributed to a competition between the Fe and Co contributions to the crystal electric field at the Dy site. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Silver-containing ferrimagnetic glass-ceramic (Ag-SC45) was synthesized by means of melt and quenching technique. Samples were subjected to morphological, compositional, structural analyses, ability to generate heat, magnetic measurements at high and low magnetic field and antibacterial test using S. aureus strain. The influence of silver introduction and the effect of annealing process were investigated. Morphological, compositional and structural analyses evidenced the formation of metallic silver particles embedded in the glass-ceramic. The hysteresis cycles showed slight differences in the hysteresis cycle area ratio and coercive field values as a function of the annealing treatment and of silver presence, while no difference was evidenced in the specific power loss. All samples demonstrated the ability to produce heat when exposed to an alternating magnetic field. Deep understanding and powerful control of the magnetization dynamics is of great importance for developing high speed spintronic devices. In this work, laser-induced ultrafast demagnetization process of Gd x (CoFe) 1- x alloy films has been extensively studied by using the fs-laser pump-probe technique. Interestingly, it is found that by adjusting the Gd content x and hence the intersublattice 3 d -4 f exchange coupling strength, the demagnetization dynamics varies from a fast one-stage decay to a continuous or a discrete two-stage decay, which is mainly resulted from the different energy transfer rates via the intersublattice exchange coupling and has been well simulated by considering the Elliott-Yafet type spin-flip scattering theory and the 4-Temperature model. Moreover, we observed that the second-stage decay time is strongly dependent on the external magnetic field, which is analyzed theoretically and suggests an origin of ultrafast giant magnetic cooling effect via the modulation of lattice-spin coupling. The magnetic permeability is generally a second-rank tensor for an anisotropic medium. By considering a dc bias magnetic field and an ac circularly polarized wave, a generalized permeability can be derived. The formula for the generalized permeability explains why most dielectrics, paramagnetic and diamagnetic materials, and even metals have a relative permeability close to unity. For ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic materials, the permeability strongly depends on the applied magnetic field and the polarizations of the electromagnetic waves. This work discusses how a circularly polarized wave interacts with the magnetic dipole moment being induced by and precessing around the applied dc bias field. The gyromagnetic resonance between the wave and the induced dipole allows us to find a condition where the incident wave can propagate through the medium without reflection. We investigated the anomalous Hall effect and longitudinal magnetoresistance in ferrimagnetic Co90Gd10 thin films with thicknesses from 5 to 35 nm and temperatures from 80 to 300 K. As the temperature increases from 80 to 300 K, the saturation magnetization of Co90Gd10 increases from 720 to 844 emu/cm3. However, the scaling law \sigma xy – \sigma xx^{n} with $n =2.3$ holds surprisingly well. Our results indicate that the scaling law usually reported in ferromagnetic materials remains valid for ferrimagnetic materials, which undoubtedly suggested the universality of the scaling law. We report on the effect of an applied static magnetic field on the dielectric properties of ferroelectric relaxor/ferrimagnetic composites consisting of [Ba(Sn 0.3 Ti 0.7 )O 3 ] 0.8 –[CoFe 2 O 4 ] 0.2 (BST 0.8 –CFO 0.2 ). The pure Ba(Sn 0.3 Ti 0.7 )O 3 (BST30) as well as the composites, were synthesized by solid state reaction method. The X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that BST30 and CFO coexist in the composite without any secondary phase. The real and the imaginary part of the dielectric permittivity were studied as a function of temperature, with and without static magnetic field, respectively. Relaxor characteristics such as dielectric permittivity and its peak temperature are observed to vary with the magnetic field. This is explained in the context that the applied magnetic field creates magnetostriction in the ferrite phase which is transferred to the relaxor phase via the interface coupling. The strain in the relaxor phase results in the reorientation of local polarization entities, polar nano regions (PNRs), which alters the dielectric characteristics of the sample. This effect is explained in relation to local order parameter q ( T ) which is found to increase in a certain temperature range above the typical ferroelectric temperature regime with the application of magnetic field. The effect of the canting of local anisotropy axes on the ground-state phase diagram and magnetization of a ferrimagnetic chain with regularly alternating Ising and Heisenberg spins is exactly examined in an arbitrarily oriented magnetic field. It is shown that individual contributions of the Ising and Heisenberg spins to the total magnetization basically depend on the spatial orientation of the magnetic field and the canting angle between two different local anisotropy axes of the Ising spins. There has been much interest recently in the discovery of thermally induced magnetisation switching using femtosecond laser excitation, where a ferrimagnetic system can be switched deterministically without an applied magnetic field. Experimental results suggest that the reversal occurs due to intrinsic material properties, but so far the microscopic mechanism responsible for reversal has not been identified. Using computational and analytic methods we show that the switching is caused by the excitation of two-magnon bound states, the properties of which are dependent on material factors. This discovery allows us to accurately predict the onset of switching and the identification of this mechanism will allow new classes of materials to be identified or designed for memory devices in the THz regime. In particle accelerators, “field markers” provide a digital trigger when the magnetic field crosses a given threshold. In this paper, the metrological characterization of a magnetic field marker, based on a ferrimagnetic resonance transducer referencing the flux sensed by a coil, is reported. The experimental results of a validation test campaign at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to test the marker in static as well as fast ramping fields (up to 2.5 T/s) are illustrated. We report a comparative study of magnetic and magnetoabsorption properties of bulk and nanoparticles of Ga2-xFe_xO3 (x\approx 1.25) compounds synthesized using sol-gel method. The average size of Ga2-xFe_xO3 nanoparticles is found to be 100 nm. We observe an enhancement in the ferrimagnetic transition temperature (TC=354\ K) of Ga2-xFe_xO3 nanoparticles compared to TC=298\ K of the bulk Ga2-xFe_xO3. The bulk and nanoparticles of Ga2-xFe_xO3 exhibit a large coercive field (HC) of HC= 0.95 and 0.8 T at T= 10 K, respectively and we observe that the HC decreases dramatically with increasing temperature. Magnetoabsorption was studied with a LC resonance technique and we found a close correlation between the shift in the resonance frequency due to applied magnetic field and the coercive field measured using dc magnetization measurements. Ferrite nanoparticles are in the last years a matter of strong interest due to the fact that nanoscale materials possess size-dependent optical, electronic, magnetic, thermal, mechanical, and chemical properties that are comparable to or superior to those of bulk material counterparts, as well as its potential applications in sensors or microwave devices. Nickel ferrites, which are well-known technological materials in various electronic devices, were prepared in the form of nanoparticles by a modified sol-gel technique employing coconut oil, and then annealed at different temperatures in the 400° C-1200 ° C range. This route of preparation has been revealed to be one efficient and cheap technique to obain high-quality nickel ferrite nanosized powder. Sample particle sizes obtained with X-ray diffraction data and Scherrer's formula lie in 13-138 nm, with increased size with annealing temperature. Magnetic field-induced microwave absorption in nanoscale ferrites is a recent an active area of research, in order to characterize and explore potential novel applications. In the present work, microwave magnetoabsorption data of the annealed nickel ferrite nanoparticles are presented. These data have been obtained with a system developped in our laboratory, based on a network analyzer that operates in the frequency range 0-8.5 GHz. We applied Monte Carlo simulation to investigate the thermodynamic properties and hysteresis loops of the hexagonal core-shell nanoparticle described by a ferrimagnetic mixed-spin (3/2, 5/2) Ising model. The results revealed the significance of the single-ion anisotropy, exchange coupling, external magnetic field in dominating various thermodynamic quantities and hysteresis loops. We obtained the variation of the critical temperature with various parameters. Under certain parameter conditions, the system may exhibit rich multiple-loop hysteresis behaviors, depending on the competition among the physical parameters. Hyperfine magnetic fields on 57Fe nuclei in Sr and Ba hexagonal ferrites are calculated in dependence on unit cell volume and c/a ratio. By analysing the local deformations of Fe-O-Fe triads the results are explained as changes to contact hyperfine field due to Fe-O covalency effects and supertransferred hyperfine fields. Most pronounced effect is found for bipyramidal iron Fe(b) where the total contact field is reduced due to noticeable shortening of Fe(b)-O bonds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present work focused on synthesis and characterization of the new garnet-type materials with formula Sm 3-x Gd x Fe 5 O 12 (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0), using both the citrate and solid-state reaction methods. The influence of the substituting cation and the synthesis routes on the structural, morphological, and magnetic properties were evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The results showed that Gd3+ substitution allows obtaining single-phase materials, with cubic structure and space-group symmetry Ia 3 ¯ d (230). The Gd3+ substitution modified the magnetic response of the Sm 3 Fe 5 O 12 garnet, generating a decrease of the saturation magnetization (M s), coercive field (H c), remaining magnetization (M r), besides, the sample with x = 1.0 exhibited a T comp of ≈60 K. The citrate method allowed obtaining smaller particle sizes, leading to an increase of the H c and M r , and decreasing the M s , this compared with the samples obtained by the solid-state reaction method. The ferrimagnetic behavior of the materials was confirmed by room temperature 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, which showed the existence of magnetic hyperfine fields and Fe3+ in the different crystallographic sites. This work shows that the use of the citrate method allows obtaining garnets of high purity and with outstanding magnetic and crystalline properties, making them applicable for transformers and microwave switches production. The high-temperature (T\geq 20\ K) magnetic properties of dysprosium iron garnet (DyIG) are theoretically presented in strong magnetic fields based on three-sublattice model. Under the consideration of the molecular fields among the different magnetic sublattices, our theory confirms that the magnetization in DyIG shows obvious isotropy with the increase of the temperatures. Also, at higher temperatures, the variations of the magnetization in DyIG with the magnetic fields (He) and the temperatures (T) are successfully fitted. Similar with the conclusion at low temperatures, it is also proved that the contribution of the magnetization of the rare-earth magnetic sublattice to the total magnetization in DyIG is greater than that of iron sublattices at higher temperatures. In addition, theoretical calculations reveal that the temperature and field dependence of the coefficients \alphai (i=a, c and d) associated with the molecular field parameters \lambda and magnetic susceptibility \chi, and at higher temperatures, it can be described as \alphai=P1+P2/He where P1 and P2 are the coefficients. We have investigated the thermal expansion of the ferrimagnet FeSe of the hexagonal system by synchrotron radiation powder X-ray diffraction from room temperature down to 90 K. The lattice constants show anisotropic change against temperature. Especially, the c-axis expands down to 170 K, exhibiting negative linear thermal expansion. Almost the same behavior is found in the temperature dependence of the magnetization. This implies that the anomalous change of the c-axis has a strong correlation with magnetism. Magnetic fields up to 0.4 T do not affect the lattice constants at room temperature. Electrical resistivity indicates metallic behavior, i.e., there is a finite density of the state at the Fermi energy, consisting of the Fe\ 3d and the Se\ 4p states. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Transmittance measurements on diluted barium ferrite materials in broadband millimeter-wave frequency range have been performed. The measurements have been done using free-space quasi-optical spectrometer in transverse magnetic field up to 7.5 kOe. A set of backward wave oscillators have been used as sources of high power coherent radiation tunable in 34–120 GHz frequency region. A magnetooptical approach has been employed for the separation of dielectric and magnetic effects in ferrites and simultaneous determination of complex dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability of materials. Magnetic, optic and microstructural properties of ultrasonically synthesized CoEu x Fe 2−x O 4 (x ≤ 0.1) nanoferrites (NFs) have been examined in this study. After sonochemical synthesis, XRD and FT-IR analyses confirmed the purity, the structure (cubic spinel structure and Fd3m space group) and the spectral properties of the spinel ferrite samples. The spherical morphology and chemical compositions of the products were observed via transmission and scanning electron microscopes along with EDX and elemental mapping. Percent diffuse reflectance (%DR) was used for optical investigation. Optical band gaps (E g) were estimated utilizing Kubelka-Munk theory and Tauc equation. E g values are in a narrow band of 1.34 to 1.44 eV. The magnetic parameters like M s (saturation magnetization), SQR = M r /M s (squareness ratio), n B (magnetic moment), H c (coercivity) and M r (remanence) have been evaluated by analyzing measurements of magnetization versus magnetic field performed at room (RT; T = 300 K) and low (T = 10 K) temperatures. It is showed that the different produced CoEu x Fe 2−x O 4 (0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.10) nanospinel ferrites present superparamagnetic (SPM) nature at RT. At low temperature, the various produced CoEu x Fe 2−x O 4 (x ≤ 0.08) nanospinel ferrites display ferrimagnetic (FM) nature. With exception, the x = 0.10 sample exhibit SPM behavior at T = 10 K. It is noticed that the Eu3+ substitutions alter in a significant way on the magnetic data. A decreasing trend in the M s , M r and n B values was noted with Eu3+ substitutions. We report on the crystal structure and the magnetic properties of Mn5Sn3-xGax alloys with x = 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5, which were investigated by means of X-ray powder diffraction and magnetization measurements in fields up to 5 T in the temperature range 5 to 360 K. These alloys have in common that they exhibit a temperature-induced ferrimagnetic phase transition. The results indicate that all samples crystallize in the hexagonal Ni2 In-type structure with space group P63/mmc. The lattice parameters a and c of the Mn5Sn3-xGax decrease with increasing x, while the Curie temperature of these alloys increases with increasing x. All of the alloys exhibit a moderate magnetocaloric effect. Typical values are about 0.8 and 3 J/kgK at Tc = 282 K for x = 1.5 in a magnetic field change from 0 to 1 T and 0 to 5 T, respectively.
