Navigating confusing peer-review structures in publishing can be daunting for librarians at all stages of their careers. In this paper, the authors will differentiate peer-review models and reflect on their experiences with these formats in the context of the September 2022 special issue of College & Research Libraries. Additional discussion will include the hidden curriculum of professional norms in academia; areas for growth in peer review related to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and peer review as an individual and collective form of professional development that shapes how we engage with scholarship in LIS. The study was carried out to investigate research visibility of academic librarians in Imo State: factors, strategies, and challenges. The study was guided by 5 research objectives. The researchers adopted descriptive research survey. The population of the study comprised of 155 academic librarians in 9 institutions of higher learning in Imo State. Both online and face to face questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. Out of 155 copies of questionnaire distributed in both soft and hardcopies, 133 responses were received. The outcome of the study showed that the number of peer reviewed publications, citation for journal publications, journal impact factors, frequency of citation, increased visibility via open access, and journal location are the factors considered by the librarians in choosing where to publish their papers as all the items showed positive means above the criterion mean of 2.50. Again, researchgate, academia, LinkedIn, Mendeley, blog, tweeter and Google scholar are the academic social networking platforms used by the librarians in sharing academic publications. Furthermore, the opportunity for feedback, collaboration, research reputation, job opportunities, promotion and career advancement are the benefits of research visibility to librarians. In the same vein, paper presentation at conferences, collaboration with other authors, public lectures, publishing on widely read journals, maintaining online identity and tracking scholarly impact metrics are the strategies for enhancing research visibility of the librarians. Finally, lack of computer literacy, cost implications of paper publications, lack of awareness of social networking platforms, non-accessibility to other people's work, inability to track impact metrics, inability to manage online identity as well as lack of registered institutional e-mail were seen as challenges facing research visibility of the librarians. The study concludes that every librarian should strive to be visible, and the researchers recommended that all librarians should identify with all the social networking platforms and publish in widely read journals to track their online identity metrics for easy visibility. New librarians often feel as though they have something to prove. This desire can lead to feelings of inadequacy and failure in the workplace that manifest as anxiety and fear. The idea that someone is a fraud or only succeeding by luck is called Imposter Phenomenon or Imposter Syndrome. As early career instruction librarians, the authors set out to find tools for dealing with their Imposter Phenomenon. This paper outlines faith-based tools like exercise, counseling, and prayer for managing Imposter Phenomenon. Practical tools such as professional development, mentoring, and communities of practice are explained as solutions for lessening the effects of Imposter Phenomenon. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Conference attendance can play an important role in supporting the professional development of subject librarians by offering opportunities that allow librarians to learn about new services, strategies, and technologies while growing and maintaining professional networks. However, barriers such as accessibility challenges, budgetary and resource restrictions, difficulty measuring learning gains, and difficulty measuring the value of professional development when applied to the job can restrict opportunities for many librarians. Specialized regional conferences have the potential to reduce many of these barriers. How can librarians, library administrators, and conference organizers quantify the value of regional conference attendance as an accessible means for fostering librarian professional development? This paper examines five years of assessment data and participant feedback from attendees of a specialized regional conference for STEM librarians and measures participant learning and participant motivation for conference attendance. We propose specialized regional conferences, such as the Great Lakes Science Boot Camp for Librarians, as accessible and affordable continuing education opportunities that support the professional development of subject librarians. The reference librarian and the services provided hold more than ever the attention of users at the "Dunărea de Jos" University Library of Galati (DJULG). The Internet, technology and struggle for survival left a significant mark on both librarians' skills and reference services in the new context of the information society. In order to align with new trends in librarianship and to respond effectively to the increasingly complex demands of users, the reference librarians had to move beyond the traditional and reinvent themselves. As a result, new skills have been acquired and new services emerged in the information landscape of the university library. The paper examines the evolution of the reference services at DJULG over the last ten years, emphasizing the changes of the librarian profile in this area. The variety of information sources, the emergence of new information technologies, the movement on open access have been the main elements that contributed to the professional development of the reference librarian and the implementation of new models of services for users. The case of the university library in this study reveals different profiles of the reference librarian: researcher, educator in information literacy, bibliometrician, wikilibrarian, digital resources manager, reference manager etc. Not far from the truth, we can say that the reference librarian became a chameleon, from the perspective of information evolution and ensuring sustainable library services. Academic libraries have long recognised the benefits of integrating information literacy into disciplinary curricula. One model that addresses the common problems of sustainability and scalability of such efforts is the train the trainer model, where academic librarians serve as faculty developers. Improving faculty development efforts requires understanding the methods and strategies of librarians engaged in this work. Using an action research methodology, this paper investigated the experiences of librarians and disciplinary instructors participating in a course redesign program at a large, public university in the midwestern United States, in order to identify effective strategies for engaging with disciplinary instructors about information literacy. Findings include focusing on pragmatic, contextual ways in which students will need to use information in the future, providing professional development opportunities for librarians to further develop faculty development skills, and prioritising strong collaborations between librarians and other academic units. The paper identifies the existing promotional avenues for university librarians in Sri Lanka, the basic requirements needed for these avenues, the obstacles and obstacle mitigating strategies. The research design of the study comprised of three steps, viz., literature analysis, survey based on telephonic interviews, and finally, the opinion modeling. It was found that the major problems that hinder career advancement prospects among librarians are a combination of professional duties with research and publication requirements, inadequate opportunities to reach the rank of librarian and lack of higher educational qualification requirements.
