The gig economy and gig work have grown quickly in recent years and have drawn much attention from researchers in different fields. Because the platform mediated gig economy is a relatively new phenomenon, studies have produced a range of interesting findings; of interest here are the socio‐technical issues that this work has surfaced. This systematic literature review (SLR) provides a snapshot of a range of socio‐technical issues raised in the last 12 years of literature focused on the platform mediated gig economy. Based on a sample of 515 papers gathered from nine databases in multiple disciplines, 132 were coded that specifically studied the gig economy, gig work, and gig workers. Three main socio‐technical themes were identified: (1) the digital workplace, which includes information infrastructure and digital labor that are related to the nature of gig work and the user agency; (2) algorithmic management, which includes platform governance, performance management, information asymmetry, power asymmetry, and system manipulation, relying on a diverse set of technological tools including algorithms and big data analytics; (3) ethical design, as a relevant value set that gig workers expect from the platform, which includes trust, fairness, equality, privacy, and transparency. A social informatics perspective is used to rethink the relationship between gig workers and platforms, extract the socio‐technical issues noted in prior research, and discuss the underexplored aspects of the platform mediated gig economy. The results draw attention to understudied yet critically important socio‐technical issues in the gig economy that suggest short‐ and long‐term opportunities for future research directions. The estimation of time‐lapse time shifts between two, or several, repeated seismic surveys has become increasingly popular over the past eighteen years. These time shifts are a reliable and informative seismic attribute that can relate to reservoir production. Correction for these time shifts or the underlying velocity perturbations and/or subsurface displacement in an imaging sense also permits accurate evaluation of time‐lapse amplitudes by attempting to decouple the kinematic component. To date, there are approximately thirty methods for time‐shift estimation described in the literature. We can group these methods into three main families of mathematical development, together with several miscellaneous techniques. Here we detail the underlying bases for these methods, and the acknowledged benefits and weaknesses of each class of method highlighted. We illustrate this review with a number of time‐lapse seismic examples from producing fields. No method is necessarily superior to the others, as its selection depends on ease of implementation, noise characteristics of the field data, and whether the inherent assumptions suit the case in question. However, cross‐correlation stands out as the algorithm of choice based on the Pareto principle and waveform inversion the algorithm delivering best resolution. Communication security has become particularly crucial with the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT). Frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology, a prevalent method in wireless communication, has a wide range of applications in the Internet of Things. Enhancing the security of frequency hopping sequences is an essential means to improve the security of frequency hopping communication in the Internet of Things, as the performance of frequency hopping sequences plays a crucial role in frequency hopping systems. This paper proposes constructing secure adaptive frequency hopping sequence sets based on the advanced encryption standard (AES) algorithm. As a block cipher algorithm with superior security, the AES algorithm can provide a fundamental guarantee for the security of the proposed frequency hopping sequences. The mapping methods from ciphertext sequences to frequency hopping sequences proposed in this paper can achieve the construction of frequency hopping sequences of any frequency set size to meet the requirements of adaptive frequency hopping. In addition, we also model and analyse the problem of overlapping spectrum band of the IoT groups in the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band, aiming to achieve better packet transmission performance by adjusting the frequency set size. Visual SLAM algorithms can obtain a large amount of texture information from the environment and usually perform very well in static scenes, but there are a large number of irregular dynamic points when running in dynamic scenes, which can lead to increased error in SLAM feature point matching and loss of tracking localization. To address this challenge this paper proposes a SLAM system (YVG‐SLAM) that adapts to dynamic scenes. YVG‐SLAM is an improvement on the ORB‐SLAM3 algorithm, integrating the view geometry algorithm and the current powerful YOLOv5 algorithm, while proposing a dynamic feature removal strategy without a priori assumptions to reduce the influence of dynamic targets. In this paper, we first lighten the YOLOv5 algorithm, then process the image frame to get the bounding box, then use the view geometry algorithm to determine the dynamic feature points on the image frame, and finally remove the moving objects in the image frame according to the dynamic feature recognition strategy proposed in this paper. The performance of the algorithm is tested on the TUM RGB‐D and BONN RGB‐D datasets. The experimental results show that the robustness of the proposed algorithm on most video sequences is better than the existing SLAM algorithms dealing with dynamic scenes such as Detect‐SLAM and DynaSLAM, and the RMSE index of the absolute trajectory error measured on high‐speed dynamic video sequences can be significantly reduced by more than 93% compared to ORB‐SLAM3. © 2024 Institute of Electrical Engineer of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC. Like information science more broadly, search engine research has largely been fragmented into two factions: system‐oriented and user‐oriented studies. This limits our capacity for answering some fundamental questions surrounding an integral—often invisible—part of modern life. Given the "search‐ification" of this life, given an oligopolous global market and an information‐wealthy but attention‐poor audience, methods capable of studying search engines, as well as their relationship with users and society are increasingly necessary. This paper proposes critical discourse analysis (CDA) as an effectual, oft‐overlooked method for search engine research, one capable of interrogating both search engines and their use. The paper outlines CDA, provides examples of its application, and highlights its capacity for progressing our critical understanding of search engines. This developing understanding, evidenced by a review of the literature, suggests that challenges brought by search cannot be resolved by critiquing the power of systems alone. Rather, a reclaiming of today's information infrastructure requires we also illuminate the socio‐political environments of search systems, and the metacognitive, invisible processes pivotal to our communication with them. While power‐analyses of search continue, and some have begun to employ CDA, little recognition exists of this theoretical perspective's capacity for supporting both system‐oriented and user‐oriented studies. The purpose of this study was to discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) methods have affected the field of drug development. It looks at how AI models and data resources are reshaping the drug development process by offering more affordable and expedient options to conventional approaches. The paper opens with an overview of well‐known information sources for drug development. The discussion then moves on to molecular representation techniques that make it possible to convert data into representations that computers can understand. The paper also gives a general overview of the algorithms used in the creation of drug discovery models based on AI. In particular, the paper looks at how AI algorithms might be used to forecast drug toxicity, drug bioactivity, and drug physicochemical properties. De novo drug design, binding affinity prediction, and other AI‐based models for drug–target interaction were covered in deeper detail. Modern applications of AI in nanomedicine design and pharmacological synergism/antagonism prediction were also covered. The potential advantages of AI in drug development are highlighted as the evaluation comes to a close. It underlines how AI may greatly speed up and improve the efficiency of drug discovery, resulting in the creation of new and better medicines. To fully realize the promise of AI in drug discovery, the review acknowledges the difficulties that come with its uses in this field and advocates for more study and development. This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning algorithm to achieve complete coverage path planning for deep‐sea mining vehicle clusters. First, the mining vehicles and the deep‐sea mining environment are modeled. Then, this paper implements a series of algorithm designs and optimizations based on Deep Q Networks (DQN). The map fusion mechanism can integrate the grid matrix data from multiple mining vehicles to get the state matrix of the complete environment. In this paper, a preprocessing method for the state matrix is also designed to provide suitable training data for the neural network. The reward function and action selection mechanism of the algorithm are also optimized according to the requirements of cluster cooperative operation. Furthermore, the algorithm uses distance constraints to prevent the entanglement of underwater hoses. To improve the training efficiency of the neural network, the algorithm filters and extracts training samples for training through the sample quality score. Considering the requirement of cluster complete coverage mission, this paper introduces Long Short‐Term Memory (LSTM) based on the neural network to achieve a better training effect. Clustering is a technique used to partition a dataset into groups of similar elements. In addition to traditional clustering methods, clustering for probability density functions (CDF) has been studied to capture data uncertainty. In CDF, automatic clustering is a clever technique that can determine the number of clusters automatically. However, current automatic clustering algorithms update the new probability density function (pdf) fi(t)$$ {f}_i(t) $$ based on the weighted mean of all previous pdfs fj(t−1),j=1,2,...,N$$ {f}_j\left(t-1\right),j=1,2,\dots, N $$, resulting in slow convergence. This paper proposes an efficient automatic clustering algorithm for pdfs. In the proposed approach, the update of fi(t)$$ {f}_i(t) $$ is based on the weighted mean of f1(t),f2(t),...,fi−1(t),fi(t−1),fi+1(t−1),...,fN(t−1)$$ \left\{{f}_1(t),{f}_2(t),\dots, {f}_{i-1}(t),{f}_i\left(t-1\right),{f}_{i+1}\left(t-1\right),\dots, {f}_N\left(t-1\right)\right\} $$, where N$$ N $$ is the number of pdfs and i=1,2,...,N$$ i=1,2,\dots, N $$. This technique allows for the incorporation of recently updated pdfs, leading to faster convergence. This paper also pioneers the applications of certain CDF algorithms in the field of surface image recognition. The numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed method can result in a rapid convergence at some early iterations. It also outperforms other state‐of‐the‐art automatic clustering methods in terms of the Adjusted Rand Index and the Normalized Mutual Information. Additionally, the proposed algorithm proves to be competitive when clustering material images contaminated by noise. This paper addresses the resource allocation (RA) for ultra‐dense network (UDN), where base stations (BSs) are densely deployed to meet the demands of future wireless communications. However, the design of RA in UDN is challenging, as the RA problem is non‐convex and NP‐hard. Therefore, this paper considers and studies a semi‐distributed resource block (RB) allocation scheme, in order to achieve a well‐balanced trade‐off between performance and complexity. In the context of semi‐distributed RB allocation scheme, the problem can be decomposed into the subproblem of clustering and the subproblem of cluster‐based RB allocation. We first improve the K‐means clustering algorithm by employing the Gaussian modified method, which can significantly decrease the number of iterations for carrying out the K‐means algorithm as well as the failure possibility of clustering. Then, bat algorithm (BA) is introduced to attack the problem of cluster‐based RB allocation. In order to make the original BA applicable to the problem of RB allocation, chaotic sequences are adopted to discretize the initial position of the bats, and simultaneously increase the population diversity of the bats. Furthermore, in order to speed up the convergence of BA, the logarithmic decreasing inertia weight is employed for improving the original BA. The traditional infrared inspection of substations is usually done by employees with handheld infrared equipment, but the traditional inspection efficiency is not high, and some of the inspection locations have harsh environments, high voltage levels, and high‐risk factors. Given the above problems, this paper proposes an improved defect detection algorithm for substations based on YOLO v7 to solve the difficult problem of infrared inspection of substations. First, the lighter SE‐GhostNetV2 feature extraction network is designed to reduce the computation volume; second, the de‐weighted BIFPN structure is designed for the substation infrared image features to improve the ability of information interaction; finally, the new C‐NWD Loss is proposed to realize the detection of smaller substation equipment and reducing missed detections. The experimental results show that the hybrid accuracy of the algorithm designed in this paper is improved from 92.1% to 96.6%, the model parameters are reduced by 40.1%, the computation amount is reduced by 65%, the detection speed is improved by 87 FPS, and the false detection and missed detections is less, which can achieve real‐time infrared inspection of substations and solve the difficulties existing in traditional substation infrared detection. A novel algorithm has been developed and validated to isolate individual papermaking fibres in micro-computed tomographic images of paper handsheets as a first step to characterize the structure of the paper. The three-step fibre segmentation algorithm segments the papermaking fibres by (i) tracking the hollow inside the fibres via a modified connected component methodology, (ii) extracting the fibre walls using a distance transform and (iii) labelling the fibres through collapsed sections by a final refinement step. Furthermore, postprocessing algorithms have been developed to calculate the length and coarseness of the segmented fibres. The fibre segmentation algorithm is the first ever reported method for the automated segmentation of the tortuous three-dimensional morphology of papermaking fibres within microstructural images of paper handsheets. This paper investigates the distributed optimization problem of networked Euler–Lagrange (EL) systems with actuator faults and unknown model parameters. In order to solve this issue, some event‐triggered fault‐tolerant (ETFT) optimal coordination algorithms with the mechanism of intermittent communication and intermittent controller update are designed for the first time to compensate for the impact of physical faults on the system, and reduce communication costs and control resource consumption. For practical applications, it is difficult for the system to have a secure environment if there exist malicious attacks blocking network channels among agents. Therefore, the resilient ETFT optimal coordination with intermittent communication subject to asynchronous denial‐of‐service (DoS) attacks is considered. Especially, auxiliary systems with adaptive gains are introduced in the algorithms due to the unavailability of the EL model parameters, which also enable virtual data exchange between agents and protect actual state information. Note that the algorithms are fully distributed as the global topology information is not required. Pixel‐level labeling of regions of interest in an image is a key step in building a labeled training dataset for supervised deep learning networks of images. However, traditional manual labeling of cancerous regions in digital pathological images by doctors is time‐consuming and inefficient. To address this issue, this paper proposes an automatic labeling method for whole slide images, which combines clustering and edge detection techniques. The proposed method utilizes the multi‐level feature fusion model and the Long‐Short Term Memory network to discriminate the cancerous nature of the whole slide images, thereby improving the classification accuracy of the whole slide images. Subsequently, the automatic labeling of cancerous regions is achieved by integrating a density‐based clustering algorithm and an edge point extraction algorithm, both based on the discriminated results of the cancerous properties of whole slide images. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, which offers an efficient and accurate solution to the challenging task of cancerous region labeling in digital pathological images. This research paper delves into the security concerns within Internet of Things (IoT) networks, emphasizing the need to safeguard the extensive data generated by interconnected physical devices. The presence of anomalies and faults in the sensors and devices deployed within IoT networks can significantly impact the functionality and outcomes of IoT systems. The primary focus of this study is the identification of anomalies in IoT devices arising sensor tampering, with an emphasis on the application of machine learning techniques. While supervised methods like one‐class SVM, Gaussian Naive Bayes, and XG Boost have proven effective in anomaly detection, there has been a noticeable scarcity of research employing unsupervised methods. This scarcity is mainly attributed to the absence of well‐defined ground truths for model training. This research takes an innovative approach by investigating the utility of unsupervised algorithms, including Isolation Forest and Local Outlier Factor, alongside supervised techniques to enhance the precision of anomaly detection. With the growing use of artificial intelligence, search engine providers are increasingly pushing advertisers to use automated bidding strategies based on machine learning. Such automated decision‐making systems leave advertisers in the dark about the data being used and how they can influence the outcome of the decision‐making process. Previous literature on artificial intelligence lacks an understanding of the dangers related to artificially intelligent systems and their lack of transparency. In response, our paper addresses the inherent risks of the automated optimization of advertisers' bidding strategies in search engine advertising. The selected empirical case of a service company therefore demonstrates how data availability can trigger a long‐term decline in advertising performance and how search engine advertising performance metrics develop before and after an event of data scarcity. Based on data collected for 525 days, difference‐in‐differences analysis shows that the algorithmic approach has a considerable and lasting negative impact on advertising performance. Furthermore, the empirical case indicates that self‐regulated learning can initialize a downward spiral that gradually impairs advertising performance. Thus, the aim of this study is to increase awareness regarding automated decision‐making dangers in search engine advertising and help advertisers take preventive measures to reduce the risks of algorithm missteps. Proper current sharing, DC bus voltage deviation reduction, and SOCs balancing, along with ensuring stability are the vital challenges of DC microgrids control algorithms. Addressing these challenges without communication links and a central controller is one of the priorities of control methods. Motivated by the above mentions, this paper presents a novel communication‐free control method. In this regard, a new parameter called "virtual current" is defined according to the unit current and its SOC. Then using a piecewise droop curve and the droop curve shift technique, the virtual current for each unit is determined. The units control coefficients and the relationship of the virtual current are allocated based on the location and power of the loads and RESs such that in the worst case; 1) SOCs are converged; 2) the DC bus voltage deviation is reduced; and 3) the current is appropriately distributed. The simulation and experimental results confirm that the proposed method can balance SOCs like SOC‐based methods and share power properly like piecewise droop methods while reducing DC bus voltage deviation. Accurate modeling and parameter identification of photovoltaic (PV) cells is a difficult task due to the nonlinear characteristics of PV cells. The goal of this paper is to propose a multi strategy sine–cosine algorithm (SCA), named enhanced sine–cosine algorithm (ESCA), to evaluate nondirectly measurable parameters of PV cells. The ESCA introduces the concept of population average position to increase the population exploration ability, and at the same time introduces the personal destination agent mutation mechanism and competitive selection mechanism into SCA to provide more search directions for ESCA while ensuring the search accuracy and diversity maintenance. To prove that the proposed ESCA is the best choice for extracting nondirectly measurable parameters of PV cells, ESCA is evaluated by the single‐diode model, the double‐diode model, the three‐diode model, and the photovoltaic module model (PVM), and compared with eight existing popular methods. Experimental results show that ESCA outperforms similar methods in terms of diversity maintenance, high efficiency, and stability. In particular, the proposed ESCA method is less than the SCA by 0.081, 0.144, and 0.578 in the standard deviation statistics metrics of the three PVM models (PV‐PWP201, STM6‐40/36, and STP6‐120/36), respectively. Scholarship on when and why humans are willing to rely on algorithms rather than other humans has made substantial progress in recent years, although virtually all such research is based on Western, educated, industrialized, rich, and democratic (WEIRD) research participants. This limits efforts to understand the cultural generalizability of attitudes toward algorithms. In this paper, I study algorithm aversion among participants from over 30 countries on all inhabited continents, thereby significantly increasing the diversity of this field's knowledge base. Furthermore, I leverage this diversity to test a theoretically derived prediction: that perceived corruption makes algorithmic decision‐making more appealing. I find that participants who are born or raised in countries with high levels of perceived corruption are much less averse to algorithmic decision‐making (or, in some studies, are not at all algorithm averse), relative to those from countries with low perceived corruption. Furthermore, experimentally varying corruption salience causes a decrease in algorithm aversion. I explore mechanisms and boundary conditions of these effects and discuss the implications in the context of algorithms that can both increase and decrease injustice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to the robustness of skeleton data to human scale, illumination changes, dynamic camera views, and complex backgrounds, great progress has been made in skeleton‐based video anomaly detection in recent years. The spatio‐temporal graph convolutional network has been proven to be effective in modelling the spatio‐temporal dependencies of non‐Euclidean data such as human skeleton graphs, and the autoencoder based on this basic unit is widely used to model sequence features. However, due to the limitations of the convolution kernel, the model cannot capture the correlation between non‐adjacent joints, and it is difficult to deal with long‐term sequences, resulting in an insufficient understanding of behaviour. To address this issue, this paper applies the Transformer to the human skeleton and proposes the Spatio‐Temporal Enhanced Graph‐Transformer AutoEncoder (STEGT‐AE) to improve the capability of modelling. In addition, the multi‐memory model with skip connections is employed to provide different levels of coding features, thereby enhancing the ability of the model to distinguish similar heterogeneous behaviours. Furthermore, the STEGT‐AE has a single encoder‐double decoder architecture, which can improve the detection performance by the combining reconstruction and prediction error. Summary: This paper proposes a distributed joint parameter and state variables estimation algorithm for large‐scale state‐space interconnected systems. In this distributed estimation scheme, each interconnected sub‐system is described by a linear discrete‐time state space mathematical model. Each sub‐system is supposed to be controlled by an intelligent controller that can communicate with its interconnected neighbors and exchange information, such as state variables. The proposed approach comprises two recursive estimation algorithms, a parameter estimation algorithm considering the state space model and a distributed Kalman filter for state variables estimation. It is a fully distributed cooperative approach that allows to reduce complexity and saves computational and communication resources. The recent clearance by the United States Food and Drug Administration of Tidepool Loop sets an important precedent within the medical device landscape. For the first time, an automated insulin delivery mobile application—based on an algorithm initially designed and developed by users —has been recognised as safe and effective by a regulatory body. The aim of this paper is twofold: firstly, we map out the regulatory pathways and processes that were navigated by Tidepool, the non‐profit behind Tidepool Loop, in order to make this landmark moment possible. Secondly, we set out potential approvals processes in the European Union and United Kingdom with a view to examining the challenges to obtaining regulatory clearance for Tidepool Loop in these jurisdictions. In so doing, we highlight the significant differences, not only between the United States and European systems but also between the European Union and Great Britain systems. We conclude by arguing that the complexity encountered when seeking to introduce an innovative solution in different regulatory systems has the potential to act as a disincentive to open source developers from seeking regulatory approvals for such technologies in the future. Background: Despite its obvious relevance to computer science, computational thinking (CT) is transdisciplinary with the potential of impacting one's analytical ability. Although countless efforts have been invested across K‐12 education, there is a paucity of research at the postsecondary level about the extent to which CT can contribute to sustainable learning outcomes. Objectives: The current study examines how a series of Arduino‐based robotics learning activities capture the fuller essence of concepts related to CT. Methods: College students (n = 50) completed a series of six robotics learning activities. Think‐alouds, student reflections and performance scores were used to assess students' CT through a robotics challenge in virtual and physical learning environments. Results and Conclusions: Students verbalized CT concepts related to algorithmic thinking much more than abstraction, problem decomposition and testing and debugging. Students exposed to active learning performed better in a virtual robotics challenge compared to their peers in a traditional‐oriented classroom. Students' scores on the physical robotics challenge increased as a function of the number of references they made to CT concepts during the think‐alouds. It is possible to design pedagogical experiences that tap into various dimensions of CT at incremental levels of complexity through a series of Arduino‐based robotics activities. With the integration of an online simulation, students can visualize and transfer their CT skills between a virtual and physical learning environment, thus leading to more sustainable learning outcomes. Summary: The Internet of Things (IoT) has provided us with various applications that need processing in real‐time. Fog computing has arisen as a highly effective computing paradigm that provides services closer to the IoT devices and hence fulfills the need for rapid response time and delay requirements of IoT applications. However, the heterogeneity of IoT tasks and the limited resources of fog nodes pose considerable challenges to task scheduling. Therefore, the effective utilization of fog resources is highly significant and necessitates an optimal and intelligent approach to task scheduling. This paper presents the "deadline‐cost aware task scheduling" (DCaTS) algorithm, which is designed for fog‐based IoT applications. The primary objective of this algorithm is to minimize the monetary cost while taking into account the deadline requirements and priority of tasks. The efficacy of DCaTS is assessed by analyzing various parameters, including completion time, monetary cost, response time, and waiting time. The experimental results show that in comparison with traditional policies, the proposed algorithm shows superiority in all the parameters. The proposed algorithm reduces the monetary cost up to 11.07% compared with the second best result. In practice, structural limit state function (LSF) is often combined with finite element (FE) models, and the corresponding time‐dependent reliability assessment (TRA) inevitably involves dealing with computational inefficiency. In this paper, a general moment‐based outcrossing rate (GMO) method is proposed to conduct TRA efficiently, with no limitation in the form of LSF. There are two innovations of GMO method: firstly, an explicit moment‐based outcrossing rate is developed; secondly, a separate algorithm is proposed that facilitates the separation of FE analysis from TRA cycle. The proposed method minimizes the computational cost associated with FE analysis and enables TRA cycle to be conducted more efficiently with the assistance of an explicit moment‐based outcrossing rate and explicit moment‐based outcrossing rate. Three numerical examples are investigated to examine the accuracy and efficiency of GMO method for TRA cycle. GMO method is found from the results that it can efficient and accurate to conduct TRA. The YOLO series of algorithms have made substantial contributions to the detection of insulator defects in power transmission line operations. However, existing target detection algorithms for the small target detection and low‐quality insulator images encounter difficulties in effectively capturing relevant features, resulting in a higher probability of target loss. To identify and classify defects in the operational state of insulators, an improved YOLOv8 target identification algorithm called DGW‐YOLOv8 is proposed in this paper. The deformable attention backbone of the DGW‐YOLOv8 target identification algorithm is designed by adding the deformable ConvNets v2 module and the global attention mechanism. This addition reduces the feature loss caused by the network feature processing, enhances the sensitivity of the algorithm to small‐scale targets, and reduces the impact caused by the different global positions of the targets. Additionally, to address the problem of low quality of captured images, WIoU v3 is used to replace CIoU in the original YOLOv8 target identification algorithm to optimize the loss function, reduce the degrees of freedom, and improve the network robustness. Experimental results demonstrate that the enhanced YOLOv8 algorithm can achieve an improvement of 2.4% and 5.5% in mAP and mAP50‐95, respectively, compared with the original algorithm. At present, in order to conduct non‐destructive testing on the grounding grid of substations under the condition of continuous power supply and no excavation, researchers have applied wireless technology based on electrochemical methods to remotely monitor the corrosion state of grounding conductors online. Nevertheless, wireless signals are affected by the environment when they are transmitted underground. In the field of grounding gird wireless monitoring, how to plan the information transmission path of wireless sensor network (WSN) with high accuracy of data transfer and low energy consumption earns growing research attention. To address the problem of WSN path planning in grounding grid area, a path planning method for WSN based on the hybrid algorithm of map‐matching algorithm and double‐pole search algorithm (MM‐DPS) is proposed in this paper. The map‐matching algorithm is employed to calculate the optimal sampling node number of the data transmission path. On the basis of the optimal sampling node number, the double‐pole search algorithm is employed in seeking out each sensor node of the path, and two groups of path plans are obtained. In the simulation experiment, compared with the A‐star algorithm, the MM‐DPS algorithm shortens the data transmission path length by about 39% and reduces the energy consumption by about 57%. This paper deals with the orbit tracking and formation motion problems with optimal energies and reduced computational cost. First, the orbit tracking and formation motion are decomposed into movements in the normal and tangent directions of level orbits, respectively, and simultaneously, the optimal value functions in both directions are defined. Then, to reduce the computational cost, a switching threshold event‐triggered (STET) mechanism is designed. Based on the STET mechanism, the optimal value functions are constructed to evaluate the optimal energies of orbit tracking and formation motion. Critic neural networks are then designed to approximate the optimal value functions, which yield the optimal policies along the normal and tangent directions of desired orbits, that is, a so‐called switching threshold event‐triggered critic algorithm (STET‐C). Theoretical analysis of system convergence is given in detail. Finally, two comparison simulations are given. The former intends to verify the optimal energy of STET‐C compared to the feedback controllers. In this paper, we deal with the nonlinear fractional pseudo‐parabolic equations (FPPEs). We propose an accurate numerical algorithm for solving the aforementioned well‐known equation. The problem is discretized in the temporal direction by utilizing a graded mesh linearized scheme and in the spatial direction by the Galerkin‐spectral scheme. We investigate the stability conditions of the proposed scheme. We also provide an H1$$ {H}^1 $$ error estimate of the proposed approach to demonstrate that it is convergent with temporal second‐order accuracy for fitted grading parameters. Aiming at the matter of poor precision in predicting the charge of lithium battery by applying conventional integer‐order models and offline parameter identification, this paper proposes a joint fractional‐order multi‐innovations unscented Kalman filter (FOUKF‐FOMIUKF) algorithm for predicting the cells' state of charge (SOC) online and uses the theory of singular‐value decomposition to tackle the issue of failure of the traceless transformation. Initially, the circuitry model of fractional order is built. The parameters of the model are recognized online by fractional‐order unscented Kalman filtering (FOUKF), and the obtained parameters are then transmitted to the method known as the fractional order multi‐innovations unscented Kalman filter (FOMIUKF) to calculate the SOC of the cell. The algorithm was validated under four working conditions such as FUDS (US Federal Urban Driving Distance), BJDST (Beijing Dynamic Stress Test), DST (Dynamic Stress Test), and US06 (Highway Driving Distance Test), respectively, and compared with the FOMIUKF, MIUKF, and FOUKF algorithms for offline identification. The conclusions demonstrate that the SOC estimated by the FOUKF‐FOMIUKF method is controlled within 0.5% of the mean absolute error under the four conditions and the root‐mean‐square error is controlled within 0.8%. A physical fit is an important observation that can result from the forensic analysis of trace evidence as it conveys a high degree of association between two items. However, physical fit examinations can be time‐consuming, and potential bias from analysts may affect judgment. To overcome these shortcomings, a data analysis algorithm using mutual information and a decision tree has been developed to support practitioners in interpreting the evidence. We created these tools using data obtained from physical fit examinations of duct tape and textiles analyzed in previous studies, along with the reasoning behind the analysts' decisions. The relative feature importance is described by material type, enhancing the knowledge base in this field. Compared with the human analysis, the algorithms provided accuracies above 90%, with an improved rate of true positives for most duct tape subsets. Conversely, false positives were observed in high‐quality scissor cut (HQ‐HT‐S) duct tape and textiles. As such, it is advised to use these algorithms in tandem with human analysis. Furthermore, the study evaluated the accuracy of physical fits when only partial sample lengths are available. The results of this investigation indicated that acceptable accuracies for correctly identifying true fits and non‐fits occurred when at least 35% of a sample length was present. However, lower accuracies were observed for samples prone to stretching or distortion. This paper provides a tutorial on how to think computationally about learning models in a domain like number, where learners take finite data and go far beyond what they directly observe or perceive. To illustrate, this paper then outlines a model which acquires a counting procedure using observations of sets and words, extending the proposal of Piantadosi et al. (2012). The quality of scientific publications can be measured by quantitative indices such as the h‐index, Source Normalized Impact per Paper, or g‐index. However, these measures lack to explain the function or reasons for citations and the context of citations from citing publication to cited publication. We argue that citation context may be considered while calculating the impact of research work. However, mining citation context from unstructured full‐text publications is a challenging task. In this paper, we compiled a data set comprising 9,518 citations context. We developed a deep learning‐based architecture for citation context classification. Unlike feature‐based state‐of‐the‐art models, our proposed focal‐loss and class‐weight‐aware BiLSTM model with pretrained GloVe embedding vectors use citation context as input to outperform them in multiclass citation context classification tasks. Our model improves on the baseline state‐of‐the‐art by achieving an F1 score of 0.80 with an accuracy of 0.81 for citation context classification. Moreover, we delve into the effects of using different word embeddings on the performance of the classification model and draw a comparison between fastText, GloVe, and spaCy pretrained word embeddings. Often it is assumed that electronic recording by observers necessarily provides better quality data than pen-and-paper methods. Fifteen novice observers recorded rates of responding from 10 role-played video samples using one of three continuous recording input formats: keyboard (laptop), touchscreen (personal digital assistants), or pen-and-paper. We evaluated the quality of the observers' data compared with criterion records using calibration and interobserver agreement algorithms. Results of the calibration analysis revealed that observers in the touchscreen group produced the most consistently accurate and precise data, the keyboard group observers showed wide variation in precision and accuracy, and the pen-and-paper group observers were significantly less precise than the touchscreen group. We conclude that although electronic recording has the potential to be as accurate as, and more precise than, pen-and-paper methods, this is far from guaranteed. License plate detection is an important task in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and has a wide range of applications in vehicle management, traffic control, and public safety. In order to improve the accuracy and speed of mobile recognition, an improved lightweight YOLOv5s model is proposed for license plate detection. First, an improved Stemblock network is used to replace the original Focus layer in the network, which ensures strong feature expression capability and reduces a large number of parameters to lower the computational complexity; then, an improved lightweight network, ShuffleNetv2, is used to replace the backbone network of the YOLOv5s, which makes the model lighter and ensures the detection accuracy at the same time. Then, a feature enhancement module is designed to reduce the information loss caused by the rearrangement of the backbone network channels, which facilitates the information interaction in the feature fusion process; finally, the low‐, medium‐ and high‐level features in the Shufflenetv2 network structure are fused to form the final high‐level output features. Experimental results on the CCPD dataset show that compared to other methods this paper obtains better performance and faster speed in the license plate detection task, in which the average precision mean value reaches 96.6%, and can achieve a detection speed of 43.86 frame/s, and the parameter volume is reduced to 5.07 M. Due to the extensive host range of influenza A viruses, it is difficult to determine the best diagnostic algorithm to efficiently screen samples from a variety of host species for influenza A viruses. While there are some influenza diagnostic algorithms that are specific to host species, to our knowledge, no single algorithm exists for the characterization of influenza A viruses across multiple host species. A major advance in global bathymetric observation occurred in 2018 with the launch of NASA's ICESat‐2 satellite, carrying a green‐wavelength, photon‐counting lidar, the Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS). Although bathymetric measurement was not initially a design goal for the mission, pre‐ and post‐launch studies revealed ATLAS's notable bathymetric mapping capability. ICESat‐2 bathymetry has been used to support a wide range of coastal and nearshore science objectives. However, analysis of ICESat‐2 bathymetry in numerous locations around the world revealed instances of missing or clipped bathymetry in areas where bathymetric measurement should be feasible. These missing data were due to the ATLAS receiver algorithms not being optimized for bathymetry capture. To address this, two updates have been made to ICESat‐2's receiver algorithm parameters with the goal of increasing the area for which ICESat‐2 can provide bathymetry. This paper details the parameter changes and presents the results of a two‐phased study designed to investigate ICESat‐2's bathymetry enhancements at both local and global scales. The results of both phases confirm that the new parameters achieved the intended goal of increasing the amount of bathymetry provided by ICESat‐2. The site‐specific phase demonstrates the ability to fill critical bathymetric data gaps in open ocean and coastal settings. The global analysis shows that the area of potential bathymetry approximately doubled, with 6.1 million km2 of new area in which bathymetric measurements may be feasible. These enhancements are anticipated to facilitate a range of science objectives and close the gap between ICESat‐2 bathymetry and offshore sonar data. The linear mixed‐effects model (LME) is a versatile approach to account for dependence among observations. Many large‐scale neuroimaging datasets with complex designs have increased the need for LME; however LME has seldom been used in whole‐brain imaging analyses due to its heavy computational requirements. In this paper, we introduce a fast and efficient mixed‐effects algorithm (FEMA) that makes whole‐brain vertex‐wise, voxel‐wise, and connectome‐wide LME analyses in large samples possible. We validate FEMA with extensive simulations, showing that the estimates of the fixed effects are equivalent to standard maximum likelihood estimates but obtained with orders of magnitude improvement in computational speed. We demonstrate the applicability of FEMA by studying the cross‐sectional and longitudinal effects of age on region‐of‐interest level and vertex‐wise cortical thickness, as well as connectome‐wide functional connectivity values derived from resting state functional MRI, using longitudinal imaging data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive DevelopmentSM Study release 4.0. Our analyses reveal distinct spatial patterns for the annualized changes in vertex‐wise cortical thickness and connectome‐wide connectivity values in early adolescence, highlighting a critical time of brain maturation. The simulations and application to real data show that FEMA enables advanced investigation of the relationships between large numbers of neuroimaging metrics and variables of interest while considering complex study designs, including repeated measures and family structures, in a fast and efficient manner. In this paper, we propose a novel Gibbs‐INLA algorithm for the Bayesian inference of graded response models with ordinal response based on multidimensional item response theory. With the combination of the Gibbs sampling and the integrated nested Laplace approximation (INLA), the new framework avoids the cumbersome tuning which is inevitable in classical Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm, and has low computing memory, high computational efficiency with much fewer iterations, and still achieve higher estimation accuracy. Therefore, it has the ability to handle large amount of multidimensional response data with different item responses. Simulation studies are conducted to compare with the Metroplis‐Hastings Robbins‐Monro (MH‐RM) algorithm and an application to the study of the IPIP‐NEO personality inventory data is given to assess the performance of the new algorithm. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are organic pollutants and manufactured substances conferring toxicity to human health. The present study investigated whether pyrene, a type of PAH, harms rats. Our research provides an effective feature selection strategy for the animal dataset from Wenzhou Medical University's Experimental Animal Center to thoroughly examine the impacts of PAH toxicity on rat features. Initially, we devised a high‐performance optimization method (SCBA) and added the Sobol sequence, vertical crossover and horizontal crossover mechanisms to the bat algorithm (BA). The SCBA‐KELM model, which combines SCBA with the kernel extreme learning machine model (KELM), has excellent accuracy and high stability for selecting features. Benchmark function tests are then used in this research to verify the overall optimization performance of SCBA. In this paper, the feature selection performance of SCBA‐KELM is verified using various comparative experiments. According to the results, the features of the genes PXR, CAR, CYP2B1/2 and CYP1A1/2 have the most impact on rats. The SCBA‐KELM model's classification performance for the gene dataset was 100%, and the model's precision value for the public dataset was around 96%, as determined by the classification index. To improve the performance of real‐time systems, heterogeneous asymmetric multiprocessors are proposed. Heterogeneous asymmetric multiprocessor architecture allows the system to better match computational resources to meet the needs and dynamic workload of each application. The benefits of system performance and reduced power consumption cannot be fully exploited unless proper task scheduling and task allocation methods are implemented at the operating system level.The EDZL scheduling algorithm has been shown to be a better scheduling algorithm in heterogeneous multiprocessor platforms. In this paper, the BSF‐EDZL (best speed fit for earliest deadline first until zero‐laxity) performance asymmetric multiprocessor scheduling algorithm is proposed, and an effective schedulability analysis is performed. The algorithm selects an appropriate processor for non‐zero relaxation highest priority task rather than the fastest processor when assigning tasks. Imbalanced image datasets consist of image datasets where there is a significant disparity in the number of samples across different classes. With imbalanced image datasets, learning algorithms often tend to be biased toward the majority class samples. This leads to poor classification of minority class samples as their training is not properly conducted. It becomes more complicated when the number of samples in the minority class is very low. In this paper, a novel hierarchical algorithm is proposed for generating new data using Capsule Generative Adversarial Networks (CapsGAN) to address the class imbalance problem in imbalanced image datasets. Unlike common GAN models, the proposed method incorporates an auxiliary CapsNet to identify high‐value images in both minority and majority classes. This identification is based on the ability to detect complex relationships between low‐level and high‐level features present in capsule networks. Furthermore, the proposed CapsGAN model is conditioned to generate minority class samples based on feature vectors of last capsule layer to achieve a more balanced image dataset. For evaluating the performance of the proposed model, an image dataset called CICS was collected and introduced. Extensive experiments were also conducted using various online image datasets from different domains, with varying numbers of classes and data sizes. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed model can generate high‐quality samples in cases where the image dataset or the number of minority class samples is relatively small. Ultra‐wideband (UWB) radar imaging is widely used in penetration detection, target location and detection, and vital monitoring because of its high interference immunity and excellent target recognition with high resolution. In this paper, we report the design of a UWB stepper radar imaging system by using a vector network analyzer and a specially designed novel Vivaldi antenna for far‐field imaging applications. An anti‐attenuation backward projection (AA‐BP) algorithm is proposed to alleviate the attenuation impact of electromagnetic wave propagation. The AA‐BP algorithm and the specially designed Vivaldi antenna are jointly applied in our experiments on multiple targets through wall imaging in both free space and multiple‐path propagation environments. A spin space group provides a suitable way of fully exploiting the symmetry of a spin arrangement with a negligible spin–orbit coupling. There has been a growing interest in applying spin symmetry analysis with the spin space group in the field of magnetism. However, there is no established algorithm to search for spin symmetry operations of the spin space group. This paper presents an exhaustive algorithm for determining the spin symmetry operations of commensurate spin arrangements. The present algorithm searches for spin symmetry operations from the symmetry operations of a corresponding nonmagnetic crystal structure and determines their spin‐rotation parts by solving a Procrustes problem. Image restoration with impulse noise is an important task in image processing. Taking into account the statistical distribution of impulse noise, the ℓ1‐norm data fidelity and total variation (ℓ1TV$\ell _1TV$) model has been widely used in this area. However, the ℓ1TV$\ell _1TV$ model usually performs worse when the noise level is high. To overcome this drawback, several nonconvex models have been proposed. In this paper, an efficient iterative algorithm is proposed to solve nonconvex models arising in impulse noise. Compared to existing algorithms, the proposed algorithm is a completely explicit algorithm in which every subproblem has a closed‐form solution. The key idea is to transform the original nonconvex models into an equivalent constrained minimization problem with two separable objective functions, where one is differentiable but nonconvex. As a consequence, the proximal linearized alternating direction method of multipliers is employed to solve it. Objective Radiotherapy treatment planning relies upon density information provided by CT for accurate dose calculations. Hounsfield units (HUs) are converted to electron/physical density via an energy dependant calibration curve. Multiple curves are required to make full use of the available accelerating potentials (kVp). The curves are bi-linear with a discontinuity occurring at softtissue densities. The commercial algorithm, DirectDensityTM (Siemens Healthcare GmbH), constructs a single calibration curve covering all available kVp. This enables the optimisation of the CT image quality, e.g. in terms of contrast, or the reduction of the imaging dose, whilst rendering the radiotherapy treatment dose calculation robust to the energy used to acquire the CT image. We report our investigations on the clinical utilisation of the DirectDensityTM algorithm for radiotherapy treatments, by using all accelerating potentials, i.e. from 70 kVp up to 140 kVp, available at our CT treatment simulator, in contrast to previous studies that were limited to accelerating potentials spanning a subset of the available kVp. Methods The DirectDensityTM (DD) reconstruction algorithm available on a SOMATOM go.Open Pro CT scanner (Siemens Healthineers) was evaluated using the RayStation v. 9 treatment planning system (RaySearch Laboratories, Stockholm, Sweden) and a CIRS Model 002LFC IMRT Thorax Phantom (SunNuclear, Melbourne, FL), which was imaged at all available kVp with clinical protocols corresponding to various anatomical sites. The DD images were compared to those with the standard reconstruction algorithm acquired only at 120 kVp, as per our routine clinical practice. The effect of increasing kVp on HU is investigated for relevant tissue substitutes. In addition, a dosimetric comparison is performed for a VMAT plan technique with 6 MV X-rays using retrospective patient CT data sets representing four anatomical sites (pelvis, thorax, brain and “head and neck”) with five patients for each site. The original dose distributions were calculated on images acquired at 120 kVp using the standard clinical iterative reconstruction (Qr40) and compared with dose distributions recalculated on images reconstructed with the new DD (Sm40) algorithm. Results The maximum difference for radiotherapy doses calculated using images of the phantom reconstructed with Qr40 (120 kVp) or DD (all available kVp) was 0.73%. The patient plans on the anatomically representative sites studied here showed a mean PTV dose difference of −0.2% (s.d. 0.7) for D99%, −0.4% (s.d. 0.4%) for D50% and −0.3% (s.d. 0.4%) for D2%. Incidentally, we found a previously unreported decrease in HU, mostly notable for bone type inserts (~34 HU (cortical bone)), at 110 kVp for the DD reconstructed images. The effect was not noted for the standard Qr40 reconstructions. Conclusion DD has a minimal dosimetric impact in the dose calculations for radiotherapy treatments and could be implemented with existing clinical workflows. Attention should be paid to the HU values for images acquired at 110 kVp (DD algorithm), which warrants further investigation. The field of streaming data analysis has emerged as a result of new data collection and storage technologies in various areas, such as air pollution monitoring, detection of traffic congestion, disease surveillance, and recommendation systems. In this paper, we consider the problem of model estimation for data streams in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. We propose an adaptive supervised learning method with a data sparsity constraint that uses limited storage spaces and can handle nonstationary models. The vehicle's power battery is composed of a large number of battery cells series or in parallel. Due to the manufacturing process error and the different use environments, there are differences between the battery cells, and the battery pack will have inconsistency problems, which will increase the safety hazard. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to identify and warn about the inconsistency of power batteries. Based on the data of the internet of vehicles platform, this paper proposes an improved isolated forest power battery abnormal monomer identification and early warning method, which uses the sliding window (SW) to segment the dataset and update the data of the diagnosis model in real‐time. The scores of normal battery cells and abnormal battery cells were analyzed, and then the fault threshold was determined to be 0.75. The results show that the recall ratio and precision ratio of the algorithm are 0.91 and 0.95, respectively, which is more suitable for inconsistent battery cell identification than other methods. If the SW size is 15, the warning effect is the best. Before the vehicle alarm occurs, the algorithm can realize early fault warnings, thus effectively avoiding the safety problems caused by inconsistency faults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a consensus based fully distributed optimization algorithm is proposed for solving economic dispatch problem (EDP) in smart grid. Since the incremental cost of all buses reach consensus when the optimal solution is achieved, it is selected as a consensus variable. An additional variable at each bus, called "surplus" is added to record the local power mismatch, which is used as a feedback variable to purse the balance between power supply and demand. Different from most of the existing distributed methods which require the communication network to be balanced, the algorithm uses a row random matrix and a column random matrix to precisely steer all the agents to asymptotically converge to a global optimal solution over a time‐varying directed communication network. Due to the use of a fixed step size, the proposed algorithm also outperforms other algorithms in terms of convergence speed. The graph and eigenvalue perturbation theories are employed for the algorithm convergence analysis, and the upper bound of the parameters required for convergence is given theoretically. Finally, the performance and scalability of the proposed distributed algorithm are verified by several case studies conducted on the IEEE 14‐bus power system and a 200‐node test system. This paper deals with parameter estimation problem of large‐scale systems. A recursive distributed parameter estimation algorithm, based on the minimization of the prediction estimation error method, is developed. Specifically, the class of large‐scale systems that are composed of several interconnected sub‐systems is considered. Each interconnected sub‐system is modelled by a linear discrete‐time state space mathematical model with unknown parameters. The convergence analysis is then achieved using the Lyapunov approach.
