The article studies the growth of desmoid tumors with familial adenomatous polyposis during pregnancy. A 35-year-old woman who was known to have familial adenomatous polyposis was first referred to antenatal clinic at 11 weeks gestation. In addition she was noted to have essential hypertension treated with alpha methyldopa and an asymptomatic ventricular septal defect confirmed on two-dimensional echocardiography at 15 weeks of pregnancy. Her obstetric history included five previous pregnancies. To obtain a histological diagnosis it was suggested that a biopsy would be prudent. However, there was some concern about impairment of progress in labor due to tumors.
