The article explores the relationship between mass incarceration, health inequality and climate change. Noted is how prisons cause injury to humans and habitats, and to how climate change will largely impact the working class and poor because of geography and infrastructure. The author also discusses the notions of eco-gentrification and eco-apartheid, as well as how prison populations have endured inhumane conditions such as chest-deep flooding and loss of electricity, after disasters like Hurricane Katrina.
