Water stress has been one of the most serious threat to the crop growth, development and yield quality in agricultural fields. Timely and accurate diagnosis of crop water stress can greatly contribute to the precision irrigation for the crop resilience and yield. In this study, the research object was taken from the summer maize in the typical dryland agricultural area of northwest China. A six-channel multispectral sensor was mounted on a drone to obtain the remote sensing image data of summer maize at the nodulatione and staminate pulling stage in 2022. At the same time, the stomatal conductance and phenotypic parameters of summer maize were also collected. The background was removed by supervised classification. The canopy vegetation index and image texture were obtained using the gray-scale covariance matrix. The sensitive vegetation index, image texture and phenotypic parameters and their combinations were screened out by the Bayesian information criterion and full subset filtering. The summer maize stomatal conductance estimation model was constructed to combine the three types of machine learnings: the extreme learning machine, the random forest, and the back-propagation neural network. The optimal model was mapped to estimate the stomatal conductance. The Pearson correlation coefficient of vegetation index and stomatal conductance were significantly positively correlated, whereas, the canopy reflectance of summer maize was weakly negatively correlated. Different types of image textures at different wavelengths were correlated with the stomatal conductance, and the highest correlation was found in the 550 nm band. The Pearson correlation coefficients between morphological structure phenotypes (plant height, stem thickness and leaf area) and stomatal conductance of summer maize were 0.72, 0.58 and 0.69, respectively, where the three types of phenotypic parameters data were correlated well with stomatal conductance. Vegetation indices with spectral reflectance data were used to assess the overall health and moisture status of the vegetation. Image texture was used to capture the spatial distribution, texture and structural features of crops. Crop phenotypic parameters were then used to reflect the physiological and morphological responses of the crop in a three-dimensional manner, providing visual information about the growth and moisture of the vegetation. The decision coefficients of the crop water stress diagnostic models that constructed from the three information sources increased from 0.728 and 0.750 to 0.841, respectively, compared with the single or two combinations, indicating the great potential to stomatal conductance prediction. The optimal combination of indicators was screened by Bayesian information criterion and full subset screening: DWSI, NDVI, MEA, ENT, plant height and leaf area. The back-propagation neural network model with the three complementary information sources was the optimal model for the water stress diagnosis of summer maize (coefficient of determination of 0.841, root mean square error of 0.043 mol/(m2 ·s), and mean absolute error of 0.034 mol/(m² ·s)). The underestimation of stomatal conductance was significantly improved, compared with the rest models. The inverse map with the optimal model was widely applied to easily and accurately diagnose the crop water stress for the purpose of irrigation strategies and resource allocation. Leaf Area Index (LAI) remains one of the most important forest structural attributes, as accurate estimation of LAI is crucial for predicting the growth of different species. Using the Partial Least Squares Regression (PLS-R) algorithm, this study investigated three image processing techniques to determine the best technique for estimating LAI using WorldView-3 imagery in the Midlands, KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The PLS-R texture ratios model achieved the highest accuracy of R2 = 0.70, RMSE = 1.21 (2.32% of the mean measured LAI) and R2 = 0.72, RMSE = 1.26 (2.41% of the mean measured LAI) for the wet and dry seasons, respectively. This was followed by the PLS-R single texture band model that produced an accuracy of R2 = 0.65, RMSE = 1.35 (2.58% of the mean measured LAI) and R2 = 0.67, RMSE = 1.32 (2.52% of the mean measured LAI) for the wet and dry seasons, respectively. The PLS-R model using a combination of vegetation indices had the lowest estimation accuracy of R2 = 0.59, RMSE = 1.38 (2.64% of the mean measured LAI) and R2 = 0.60, RMSE = 1.40 (2.67% of the mean measured LAI) for the wet and dry seasons, respectively. The detection and monitoring of burned areas is crucial for vegetation recovery, loss assessment, and anomaly analysis. Although vegetation indices (VIs) have been widely used, accurate vegetation detection is challenging due to potential confusion in the spectra of different types of land cover and the interference of shadow effects caused by terrain. In this work, a novel Vegetation Anomaly Spectral Texture Index (VASTI) is proposed, which leverages the merits of both spectral and spatial texture features to identify abnormal pixels for extracting burned vegetation areas. The performance of the VASTI and its components, the Global Environmental Monitoring Index (GEMI), the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), and the texture feature Autocorrelation (AC) were assessed based on a global dataset previously established, which contains 1774 pairs of samples from 10 different sites. The results illustrated that, compared with the GEMI and EVI, the VASTI improved the user's accuracy (UA), producer's accuracy (PA), and kappa coefficient across the ten study areas by approximately 5% to 10%. Compared to AC, the VASTI improved the accuracy of abnormal vegetation detection by 13% to 25%. The improvements were mainly caused by the fact that the incorporation of texture features can reduce spectral confusion between pixels. The innovation of the VASTI is that it considers the relationship between anomalous pixels and surrounding pixels by explicitly integrating spatial texture features with traditional spectral features. The use of innovative techniques in the classification of dried products for food processing and packaging systems simplifies and brings objectivity to the related processes. In addition, it helps consumers to access quality products. This study aimed to discriminate dried carrot samples subjected to 12 different combinations of drying and pretreatment by using innovative techniques based on chromatic attributes. The drying procedure consists of three different microwave powers (100, 200, 300 W), and pretreatments include 5% gum arabic solution, 5% gum sucrose solution, ultrasound application, and a control (no-pretreatment). The R , G , B , L , a , b , H , S, and V color channels were extracted from dried carrot images, and the exploration of classification models from selected color channels was an innovative aspect of the study. In all color channels, high overall accuracies were obtained with the values of 96.33, 96.50, and 97.00% for the logistic model tree, k-nearest neighbor, and random forest, respectively. The confusion matrix showed the lowest mixing among carrots dried at H-US (300 W + ultrasound) vs. H-C (300 W + control), H-S (300 W + sucrose) vs. H-C (300 W + control), and M-S (200 W + sucrose) vs. H-S (300 W + sucrose). The highest L, a, and b color values for the dried carrot slices were obtained as M-S (75.26), H-GA (30.93), and M-GA (44.75), respectively. In addition, hue values varied between 17.26 and 13.27, whereas saturation values varied between 50.93 and 59.90. • Cities are dominated by private lands which presents a challenge for field study. • LiDAR data characterizes indices of avifaunal habitat on private residential lands. • NDVI, image texture, and land cover data are weaker predictors of urban avifauna. • LiDAR combined with street tree data has the strongest predictive power for urban birds. • High-resolution remote sensing data should be utilized in urban avifaunal studies. Urban ecosystems are dominated by private lands which poses a significant hurdle to performing field-based assessment of wildlife. An alternative approach is to characterize indices of animal habitat in difficult-to-access areas using data from airborne remote sensing platforms. Characterizing indices of wildlife habitat using remotely sensed data is common in natural systems but has received less attention within urban ecosystems. We tested the utility of using remotely sensed data from high-resolution airborne sensors, including LiDAR, a measure of vertical habitat structure, NDVI, a measure of greenness, image texture, a measure of horizontal habitat structure, and parcel level land-cover data, along with field-based street-tree measurements to predict bird abundance and richness across Greater Los Angeles, California, USA. We surveyed birds and gathered street-tree data on public lands of residential neighborhoods and processed the remote sensing data in 50-m and 300-m circular buffers of bird survey locations to capture data primarily on private, residential land across three winter field seasons (2016–18, 2019/20) at 23 locations along a tree-canopy cover gradient. Data from LiDAR processed as an index for the density of trees summarized in the 50-m and 300-m extents were the strongest univariate predictors of avifaunal abundance and richness explaining 75 % and 74 % of the likelihood in fitted models. NDVI, image texture, land cover, and street-tree density measures were weaker univariate predictors than models fitted with LiDAR data. Models including LiDAR and ground-based street-tree measurements accounted for upwards of 80 % of the variability in avifaunal abundance and richness, particularly for bird species associated with trees and shrubs. We recommend the prioritization of high-resolution remote sensing data, particularly LiDAR, in combination with field-based habitat measures e.g., street trees, to characterize indices of avifaunal habitat on public and private lands of cities, which could help to improve our understanding of the distribution of birds across urban areas. Graves' disease is a common condition that is diagnosed clinically by determining the smoothness of the thyroid texture and its morphology in ultrasound images. Currently, the most widely used approach for the automated diagnosis of Graves' disease utilizes Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for both feature extraction and classification. However, these methods demonstrate limited efficacy in capturing texture features. Given the high capacity of wavelets in describing texture features, this research integrates learnable wavelet modules utilizing the Lifting Scheme into CNNs and incorporates a parallel wavelet branch into the ResNet18 model to enhance texture feature extraction. Our model can analyze texture features in spatial and frequency domains simultaneously, leading to optimized classification accuracy. We conducted experiments on collected ultrasound datasets and publicly available natural image texture datasets, our proposed network achieved 97.27% accuracy and 95.60% recall on ultrasound datasets, 60.765% accuracy on natural image texture datasets, surpassing the accuracy of ResNet and confirming the effectiveness of our approach. Due to the emphasis on sustainable development and environmental protection, searching for new technologies in the production of fruit and vegetables is essential. Organic farming using natural preparations is aimed to produce healthy food, rich in nutrients that is unmodified and uncontaminated. Pepper fruit is characterized by its valuable chemical composition and dietary and taste values. The available information on the influence of natural preparations on pepper fruit is insufficient. Therefore, this study was aimed at evaluating the influence of the natural preparations and plant extracts, such as organic fertilizer - Bio-algeen S90, growth and development stimulator - Natural Crop® SL, nettle extract (fertilizer with a killing and nutritional effect) on the chemical composition, structure (image texture), and sensory quality of Devito F 1 and Sprinter F 1 pepper fruit in organic greenhouse cultivation under the conditions for organic farming. The combination of measurements of chemical properties, flesh image features, and sensory analysis for assessing the quality of pepper treated with these preparations is a great novelty of this study. The obtained results showed that the use of Bio-algeen S90 and Natural Crop® SL had an impact on the increase in the total yield compared to the control samples. Furthermore, the application of Bio-algeen S90 and Natural Crop® SL increased the content of nutrients and health-promoting compounds, such as total sugars, l -ascorbic acid, total polyphenols, and carotenoids for both pepper cultivars Devito F 1 and Sprinter F 1. The applied natural preparations had an impact on the flesh structure, which was greater for pepper Devito F 1. The selected image textures allowed for distinguishing pepper slices in terms of natural preparations with higher accuracies for Devito F 1 than Sprinter F 1. However, in the case of both cultivars, the samples treated with NaturalCrop® SL were the most different from the control. Natural preparations were not affecting significantly the sensory attributes of pepper fruit. Finding patches is a crucial step in a pavement performance survey. The study develops a machine learning and image processing algorithm-established automatic method for identifying asphalt pavement patches. The GrayLevel Co-Occurrence Matrix and image texture-based features derived from color channel statistics are used as input parameters to describe the condition of the pavement. For feature extraction, image processing methods like the projective integral of images, steerable filters, and an improved image thresholding method were used. Support Vector Machine is employed for categorizing the differentiating patched regions from non-patch ones. The suggested combination of image texture analytical methods has been trained using an IA data set created from 400 image samples. The feature set, which combines the characteristics of cracked objects with those generated from the projective integral, can produce the desired result. To make the model's execution simpler, a patch recognition program was created and implemented in MATLAB. As a result, the recently created method has the potential to be an instrument for traffic management organizations through the assessment of pavement performance. The results of the experiments indicate that the newly developed method may achieve excellent accuracy prediction results with a classifier performance rate of about 96%. Processing faces accurately and efficiently is a key capability of humans and other animals that engage in sophisticated social tasks. Recent studies reported a decoupled coding for faces in the primate inferotemporal cortex, with two separate neural populations coding for the geometric position of (texture-free) facial landmarks and for the image texture at fixed landmark positions, respectively. Here, we formally assess the efficiency of this decoupled coding by appealing to the information-theoretic notion of description length, which quantifies the amount of information that is saved when encoding novel facial images, with a given precision. We show that despite decoupled coding describes the facial images in terms of two sets of principal components (of landmark shape and image texture), it is more efficient (i.e., yields more information compression) than the encoding in terms of the image principal components only, which corresponds to the widely used eigenface method. The advantage of decoupled coding over eigenface coding increases with image resolution and is especially prominent when coding variants of training set images that only differ in facial expressions. Moreover, we demonstrate that decoupled coding entails better performance in three different tasks: the representation of facial images, the (daydream) sampling of novel facial images, and the recognition of facial identities and gender. In summary, our study provides a first principle perspective on the efficiency and accuracy of the decoupled coding of facial stimuli reported in the primate inferotemporal cortex. The image texture features obtained from 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) images of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have revealed tumor heterogeneity. A combination of genomic data and radiomics may improve the prediction of tumor prognosis. This study aimed to predict NSCLC metastasis using a graph neural network (GNN) obtained by combining a protein–protein interaction (PPI) network based on gene expression data and image texture features. 18F-FDG PET/CT images and RNA sequencing data of 93 patients with NSCLC were acquired from The Cancer Imaging Archive. Image texture features were extracted from 18F-FDG PET/CT images and area under the curve receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of each image feature was calculated. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to construct gene modules, followed by functional enrichment analysis and identification of differentially expressed genes. The PPI of each gene module and genes belonging to metastasis-related processes were converted via a graph attention network. Images and genomic features were concatenated. The GNN model using PPI modules from WGCNA and metastasis-related functions combined with image texture features was evaluated quantitatively. Fifty-five image texture features were extracted from 18F-FDG PET/CT, and radiomic features were selected based on AUC (n = 10). Eighty-six gene modules were clustered by WGCNA. Genes (n = 19) enriched in the metastasis-related pathways were filtered using DEG analysis. The accuracy of the PPI network, derived from WGCNA modules and metastasis-related genes, improved from 0.4795 to 0.5830 (p < 2.75 × 10−12). Integrating PPI of four metastasis-related genes with 18F-FDG PET/CT image features in a GNN model elevated its accuracy over a without image feature model to 0.8545 (95% CI = 0.8401–0.8689, p-value < 0.02). This model demonstrated significant enhancement compared to the model using PPI and 18F-FDG PET/CT derived from WGCNA (p-value < 0.02), underscoring the critical role of metastasis-related genes in prediction model. The enhanced predictive capability of the lymph node metastasis prediction GNN model for NSCLC, achieved through the integration of comprehensive image features with genomic data, demonstrates promise for clinical implementation. Background: Gastrointestinal symptoms after drinking milk are often attributed to lactose intolerance or cow's milk allergy. However, some individuals without either condition still report gastrointestinal symptoms after drinking milk. This may be caused by gastric emptying (GE) rate or gastric protein coagulation. This study aimed to compare GE rate and protein coagulation after milk consumption between individuals reporting gastrointestinal symptoms and those without symptoms using a novel gastric MRI approach. Methods: Thirty women were included in this case–control study, of whom 15 reported gastrointestinal symptoms after drinking milk and 15 were controls. Participants underwent gastric MRI before and up to 90 min after consumption of 250 mL cow's milk. Gastric content volume and image texture of the stomach contents were used to determine GE and changes in the degree of coagulation. Key Results: GE half‐time did not differ between the groups (gastrointestinal symptom group 66 ± 18 min; control group 61 ± 14 min, p = 0.845). The gastrointestinal symptom group reported symptoms from 30 min onwards and rated pain highest at 90 min. The control group reported no symptoms. Image texture analyses showed a significantly higher percentage of coagulum and lower percentage of liquid in the group in the GI symptom group (MD 11%, 95% CI [3.9, 17], p = 0.003). In vitro data suggests that pH and proteolytic enzyme activity influence the coagulum structure. Conclusions and Inferences: Gastric milk coagulation and emptied fraction of stomach content may differ between individuals experiencing symptoms after milk consumption, possibly due to differences in pH and proteolytic enzyme activity. The quantitative measure of irregular arrangement, configuration and geometric pattern of microstructural features is often termed as fractal dimension (D f). The measurement of D f of a complex mixture of multiphase microstructure, comprised of crystals consisting of martensite, bainite, Fe 3 C and martensite/austenite (M/A) constituents' chaos networks in a typical dual phase steel (matrix ferrite) is carried out and interpreted with its respective phase fractions and resulting mechanical responses as a function of intercritical annealing schedule. Images of titanium alloy welds detected by time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) have problems, including large noise signals and many interference streaks around the defects, all of which seriously limit the accuracy and effectiveness of defect recognition. Existing image denoising methods lack the knowledge of the noise characteristics of TOFD images of titanium alloy weld and the preprocessing experience of technicians in the field. In addition, it is difficult to select the parameters of the preprocessing methods, and they are easily influenced by the level of technical personnel, resulting in low efficiency and poor consistency in preprocessing. To address these problems, we proposed a denoising method based on the combination of wavelet band features and deep-learning theory for TOFD images of titanium alloy weld. First, based on the wavelet preprocessing method and the experience of nondestructive testing (NDT) technicians, we constructed an image pair dataset consisting of the original TOFD images of titanium alloy weld and the desired target images to realize the accumulation of engineers' preprocessing knowledge. Second, we constructed a multiband wavelet feature fusion U-net image denoising model (WU-net) and designed a loss function under three constraints of image consistency, image texture information consistency, and structural similarity. This model was able to learn to achieve end-to-end adaptive denoising for TOFD images of titanium alloy weld. Third, we illustrated and validated the effectiveness of TOFD image preprocessing for titanium alloy weld. The Pacific Islands region is home to several of the world's biodiversity hotspots, yet its unique flora and fauna are under threat because of biological invasions. These invasions are likely to proliferate as human activity increases and large‐scale natural disturbances unfold, exacerbated by climate change. Remote sensing data and techniques provide a feasible method to map and monitor invasive plant species and inform invasive plant species management across the Pacific Islands region. We used case studies taken from literature retrieved from Google Scholar, 3 regional agencies’ digital libraries, and 2 online catalogs on invasive plant species management to examine the uptake and challenges faced in the implementation of remote sensing technology in the Pacific region. We synthesized remote sensing techniques and outlined their potential to detect and map invasive plant species based on species phenology, structural characteristics, and image texture algorithms. The application of remote sensing methods to detect invasive plant species was heavily reliant on species ecology, extent of invasion, and available geospatial and remotely sensed image data. However, current mechanisms that support invasive plant species management, including policy frameworks and geospatial data infrastructure, operated in isolation, leading to duplication of efforts and creating unsustainable solutions for the region. For remote sensing to support invasive plant species management in the region, key stakeholders including conservation managers, researchers, and practitioners; funding agencies; and regional organizations must invest, where possible, in the broader geospatial and environmental sector, integrate, and streamline policies and improve capacity and technology access. The loop closure detection (LCD) methods in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Visual Inertial Navigation System (VINS) are often affected by issues such as insufficient image texture information and limited observational perspectives, resulting in constrained UAV positioning accuracy and reduced capability to perform complex tasks. This study proposes a Bag-of-Words (BoW) LCD method based on Neural Radiance Field (NeRF), which estimates camera poses from existing images and achieves rapid scene reconstruction through NeRF. A method is designed to select virtual viewpoints and render images along the flight trajectory using a specific sampling approach to expand the limited observational angles, mitigating the impact of image blur and insufficient texture information at specific viewpoints while enlarging the loop closure candidate frames to improve the accuracy and success rate of LCD. Additionally, a BoW vector construction method that incorporates the importance of similar visual words and an adapted virtual image filtering and comprehensive scoring calculation method are designed to determine loop closures. Applied to VINS-Mono and ORB-SLAM3, and compared with the advanced BoW model LCDs of the two systems, results indicate that the NeRF-based BoW LCD method can detect more than 48% additional accurate loop closures, while the system's navigation positioning error mean is reduced by over 46%, validating the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method and demonstrating its significant importance for improving the navigation accuracy of VINS. Image-based deformation estimation is an important tool used in a variety of engineering problems, including crack propagation, fracture, and fatigue failure. These tools have been important in biomechanics research where measuring in vitro and in vivo tissue deformations are important for evaluating tissue health and disease progression. However, accurately measuring tissue deformation in vivo is particularly challenging due to limited image signal-to-noise ratio. Therefore, we created a novel deep-learning approach for measuring deformation from a sequence of images collected in vivo called StrainNet. Utilizing a training dataset that incorporates image artifacts, StrainNet was designed to maximize performance in challenging, in vivo settings. Artificially generated image sequences of human flexor tendons undergoing known deformations were used to compare benchmark StrainNet against two conventional image-based strain measurement techniques. StrainNet outperformed the traditional techniques by nearly 90%. High-frequency ultrasound imaging was then used to acquire images of the flexor tendons engaged during contraction. Only StrainNet was able to track tissue deformations under the in vivo test conditions. Findings revealed strong correlations between tendon deformation and applied forces, highlighting the potential for StrainNet to be a valuable tool for assessing rehabilitation strategies or disease progression. Additionally, by using real-world data to train our model, StrainNet was able to generalize and reveal important relationships between the effort exerted by the participant and tendon mechanics. The dual-spectrum triocular camera system composed of a binocular visible light camera and mid-infrared camera is used for high-precision thermal fault detection and thermal field reconstruction of industrial equipment. The realization of its function depends on the high-precision camera parameter calibration. The difficulty lies in how to realize the infrared camera calibration quickly and improve the parameter accuracy of multi-lens camera. In this paper, according to the characteristics of the dual-spectral triocular camera system, the theoretical model is constructed, and the circular asymmetric calibration plate under infrared supplementary light is selected as the calibration object through experiments. A method for combining infrared image adaptive histogram enhancement and binarization processing based on the Sauvola algorithm is proposed to effectively calibrate the infrared camera. A global parameter optimization method based on traditional passive vision binocular stereo calibration is proposed. The optimization of experimental parameters finds the reprojection error value is 0.16, which meets the demand of high-precision calibration and solves the problem of difficult-to-calibrate weak image texture of infrared camera and the calibration accuracy of the camera under different imaging capabilities. Purpose: 123I-Ioflupane SPECT is an effective tool for the diagnosis and progression assessment of Parkinson's disease (PD). Radiomics and deep learning (DL) can be used to track and analyze the underlying image texture and features to predict the Hoehn-Yahr stages (HYS) of PD. In this study, we aim to predict HYS at year 0 and year 4 after the first diagnosis with combined imaging, radiomics and DL-based features using 123I-Ioflupane SPECT images at year 0. Methods: In this study, 161 subjects from the Parkinson's Progressive Marker Initiative database underwent baseline 3T MRI and 123I-Ioflupane SPECT, with HYS assessment at years 0 and 4 after first diagnosis. Conventional imaging features (IF) and radiomic features (RaF) for striatum uptakes were extracted from SPECT images using MRI- and SPECT-based (SPECT-V and SPECT-T) segmentations respectively. A 2D DenseNet was used to predict HYS of PD, and simultaneously generate deep features (DF). The random forest algorithm was applied to develop models based on DF, RaF, IF and combined features to predict HYS (stage 0, 1 and 2) at year 0 and (stage 0, 1 and ≥ 2) at year 4, respectively. Model predictive accuracy and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis were assessed for various prediction models. Results: For the diagnostic accuracy at year 0, DL (0.696) outperformed most models, except DF + IF in SPECT-V (0.704), significantly superior based on paired t-test. For year 4, accuracy of DF + RaF model in MRI-based method is the highest (0.835), significantly better than DF + IF, IF + RaF, RaF and IF models. And DL (0.820) surpassed models in both SPECT-based methods. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) highlighted DF + RaF model (0.854) in MRI-based method at year 0 and DF + RaF model (0.869) in SPECT-T method at year 4, outperforming DL models, respectively. And then, there was no significant differences between SPECT-based and MRI-based segmentation methods except for the imaging feature models. Conclusion: The combination of radiomic and deep features enhances the prediction accuracy of PD HYS compared to only radiomics or DL. This suggests the potential for further advancements in predictive model performance for PD HYS at year 0 and year 4 after first diagnosis using 123I-Ioflupane SPECT images at year 0, thereby facilitating early diagnosis and treatment for PD patients. Since Neural Radiation Field (NeRF) was first proposed, a large number of studies dedicated to them have emerged. These fields achieved very good results in their respective contexts, but they are not sufficiently practical for our project. If we want to obtain novel images of satellites photographed in space by another satellite, we must face problems like inaccurate camera focal lengths and poor image texture. There are also some small structures on satellites that NeRF-like algorithms cannot render well. In these cases, the NeRF's performance cannot sufficiently meet the project's needs. In fact, the images rendered by the NeRF will have many incomplete structures, while the MipNeRF will blur the edges of the structures on the satellite and obtain unrealistic colors. In response to these problems, we proposed STs-NeRF, which improves the quality of the new perspective images through an encoding module and a new network structure. We found a method for calculating poses that are suitable for our dataset and that enhance the network's input learning effect by recoding the sampling points and viewing directions through a dynamic encoding (DE) module. Then, we input them into our layer-by-layer normalized multi-layer perceptron (LLNMLP). By simultaneously inputting points and directions into the network, we avoid the mutual influence between light rays, and through layer-by-layer normalization, we ease the model's overfitting from a training perspective. Since real images should not be made public, we created a synthetic dataset and conducted a series of experiments. The experiments showed that our method achieves the best results in reconstructing captured satellite images, compared with the NeRF, the MipNeRF, the NeuS and the NeRF2Mesh, and improves the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) by 19%. Pasture degradation poses significant economic, social, and environmental impacts in the Brazilian savanna ecosystem. Despite these impacts, effectively detecting varying intensities of agronomic and biological degradation through remote sensing remains challenging. This study explores the potential of the eight-band PlanetScope SuperDove satellite constellation to discriminate between five classes of pasture degradation: non-degraded pasture (NDP); pastures with low- (LID) and moderate-intensity degradation (MID); severe agronomic degradation (SAD); and severe biological degradation (SBD). Using a set of 259 cloud-free images acquired in 2022 across five sites located in central Brazil, the study aims to: (i) identify the most suitable period for discriminating between various degradation classes; (ii) evaluate the Random Forest (RF) classification performance of different SuperDove attributes; and (iii) compare metrics of accuracy derived from two predicted scenarios of pasture degradation: a more challenging one involving five classes (NDP, LID, MID, SAD, and SBD), and another considering only non-degraded and severely degraded pastures (NDP, SAD, and SBD). The study assessed individual and combined sets of SuperDove attributes, including band reflectance, vegetation indices, endmember fractions from spectral mixture analysis (SMA), and image texture variables from Gray-level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM). The results highlighted the effectiveness of the transition from the rainy to the dry season and the period towards the beginning of a new seasonal rainy cycle in October for discriminating pasture degradation. In comparison to the dry season, more favorable discrimination scenarios were observed during the rainy season. In the dry season, increased amounts of non-photosynthetic vegetation (NPV) complicate the differentiation between NDP and SBD, which is characterized by high soil exposure. Pastures exhibiting severe biological degradation showed greater sensitivity to water stress, manifesting earlier reflectance changes in the visible and near-infrared bands of SuperDove compared to other classes. Reflectance-based classification yielded higher overall accuracy (OA) than the approaches using endmember fractions, vegetation indices, or texture metrics. Classifications using combined attributes achieved an OA of 0.69 and 0.88 for the five-class and three-class scenarios, respectively. In the five-class scenario, the highest F1-scores were observed for NDP (0.61) and classes of agronomic (0.71) and biological (0.88) degradation, indicating the challenges in separating low and moderate stages of pasture degradation. An initial comparison of RF classification results for the five categories of degraded pastures, utilizing reflectance data from MultiSpectral Instrument (MSI)/Sentinel-2 (400–2500 nm) and SuperDove (400–900 nm), demonstrated an enhanced OA (0.79 versus 0.66) with Sentinel-2 data. This enhancement is likely to be attributed to the inclusion of shortwave infrared (SWIR) spectral bands in the data analysis. Airborne hyperspectral data can reflect the spectral characteristics of tree species, which can be used for precise clas‐ sification of forest tree species. This study applies different machine-learning classification algorithms to classify tree species in hyper‐ spectral images of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Firstly, a UAV was used to collect hyperspectral data from the Maor Mountain Experimental Forest Farm in Heilongjiang Province, and a series of preprocessing was completed for the obtained data. Then, three different machine learning classification algorithms, namely, support vector machine (SVM） based on Gaussian kernel, random forest (RF), and K-nearest neighbor (KNN), were used to establish the tree species classification models, respectively, based on the fullband hyperspectral data. Meanwhile, tree species classification models were constructed based on the dimension-reduced full-band hyperspectral data using different band selection methods (successive projections algorithm, competitive adaptive reweighted sampling method and uninformative variable elimination method). Finally, the tree species classification model was constructed by combining different band selection methods and hyperspectral image texture features, and the results of different processing methods were com‐ pared. Research shows, the kernel SVM had the highest classification accuracy (87. 55%） among the tree species classification mod‐ els with full-band hyperspectral data. After selecting different bands, the stability of RF is the best among the three classification algorithms, and the accuracy rate was high, while the classification accuracy of the support vector machine based on the Gaussian kernel improved with the increase of feature dimension. The accuracy of the tree species classification model established by extracting texture features based on a grayscale co-occurrence matrix combined with band selection was higher than that of the model established by a single band selection. In particular, the K-nearest neighbor classification algorithm has the greatest improvement, which indicated that modeling with clearly partitioned features can achieve good classification results. This study used different feature selection methods combined with three different machine learning classification algorithms to achieve dominant tree species classification based on hyperspectral data, which provides technical reference for the combination of band selection methods and machine learning algorithms, and it is also of great significance for forest biomass retrieval and carbon storage estimation based on UAV hyperspectral data. Deep learning has emerged as a highly effective and precise method for classifying images. The presence of plant diseases poses a significant threat to food security. However, accurately identifying these diseases in plants is challenging due to limited infrastructure and techniques. Fortunately, the recent advancements in deep learning within the field of computer vision have opened up new possibilities for diagnosing plant pathology. Detecting plant diseases at an early stage is crucial, and this research paper proposes a deep convolutional neural network model that can rapidly and accurately identify plant diseases. Given the minimal variation in image texture and color, deep learning techniques are essential for robust recognition. In this study, we introduce a deep, explainable neural architecture specifically designed for recognizing plant diseases. Fine-tuned deep convolutional neural network is designed by freezing the layers and adjusting the weights of learnable layers. By extracting deep features from a down sampled feature map of a fine-tuned neural network, we are able to classify these features using a customized K-Nearest Neighbors Algorithm. To train and validate our model, we utilize the largest standard plant village dataset, which consists of 38 classes. To evaluate the performance of our proposed system, we estimate specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, and AUC. The results demonstrate that our system achieves an impressive maximum validation accuracy of 99.95% and an AUC of 1, making it the most ideal and highest-performing approach compared to current state-of-the-art deep learning methods for automatically identifying plant diseases. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the leading cause of blindness among adults and has no visible symptoms. Early detection is the key to prevent vision loss. Computer-aided deep learning using convolutional neural networks (CNN) have recently gained momentum for DR diagnosis as the cost can be significantly reduced while making the diagnosis more accessible. In this work, we present a fully automated framework DR network (DRNET) that fuses both image texture features and deep learning features to train the CNN model. The framework aggregates predictions from three CNN models using ensemble learning for more precise and accurate DR diagnosis when compared to standalone CNN. To strengthen the confidence of medical practitioners in acceptance of automated DR diagnosis, we extend the DRNET framework by producing model uncertainty scores and explainability maps along with the classification results. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) usually requires a long acquisition time. The movement of the patients during MRI acquisition will produce image artifacts. Previous studies have shown that clear MR image texture edges are of great significance for pathological diagnosis. In this paper, a motion artifact reduction method for cardiac MRI based on edge enhancement network is proposed. Firstly, the four-plane normal vector adaptive fractional differential mask is applied to extract the edge features of blurred images. The four-plane normal vector method can reduce the noise information in the edge feature maps. The adaptive fractional order is selected according to the normal mean gradient and the local Gaussian curvature entropy of the images. Secondly, the extracted edge feature maps and blurred images are input into the de-artifact network. In this network, the edge fusion feature extraction network and the edge fusion transformer network are specially designed. The former combines the edge feature maps with the fuzzy feature maps to extract the edge feature information. The latter combines the edge attention network and the fuzzy attention network, which can focus on the blurred image edges. Finally, extensive experiments show that the proposed method can obtain higher peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity index measure compared to state-of-art methods. The Metaverse is regarded as a brand-new virtual society constructed by deep media, and the new media art produced by new media technology will gradually replace the traditional art form and play an important role in the infinite Metaverse in the future. The maturity of the new media art creation mechanism must also depend on the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The purpose of this study is to explore the image style transfer of digital painting art in new media art, that is, to reshape the image style by neural network technology in AI based on retaining the semantic information of the original image. Based on neural style transfer, an image style conversion method based on feature synthesis is proposed. Using the feature mapping of content image and style image and combining the advantages of traditional texture synthesis, a richer multi-style target feature mapping is synthesized. Then, the inverse transformation of target feature mapping is restored to an image to realize style transformation. In addition, the research results are analyzed. Under the background of integrating AI and IoT, the creation mechanism of new media art is optimized. Regarding digital art style transformation, the Tensorflow program framework is used for simulation verification and performance evaluation. The experimental results show that the image style transfer method based on feature synthesis proposed in this study can make the image texture more reasonably distributed, and can change the style texture by retaining more semantic structure content of the original image, thus generating richer artistic effects, and having better interactivity and local controllability. Introduction: Chest radiograph and computed tomography (CT) scans can accidentally reveal pulmonary nodules. Malignant and benign pulmonary nodules can be difficult to distinguish without specific imaging features, such as calcification, necrosis, and contrast enhancement. However, these lesions may exhibit different image texture characteristics which cannot be assessed visually. Thus, a computer‐assisted quantitative method like histogram analysis (HA) of Hounsfield unit (HU) values can improve diagnostic accuracy, reducing the need for invasive biopsy. Methods: In this exploratory control study, nonenhanced chest CT images of 20 patients with benign (10) and cancerous (10) lesion were selected retrospectively. The appearances of benign and malignant lesions were very similar in chest CT images, and only pathology report was used to discriminate them. Free hand region of interest (ROI) was inserted inside the lesion for all slices of each lesion. Mean, minimum, maximum, and standard deviations of HU values were recorded and used to make HA. Results: HA showed that the most malignant lesions have a mean HU value between 30 and 50, a maximum HU less than 150, and a minimum HU between −30 and 20. Lesions outside these ranges were mostly benign. Conclusion: Quantitative CT analysis may differentiate malignant from benign lesions without specific malignancy patterns on unenhanced chest CT image. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Faced with the problem of incompatibility between traditional information acquisition mode and spaceborne earth observation tasks, starting from the general mathematical model of compressed sensing, a theoretical model of block compressed sensing was established, and a full-process adaptive coding and decoding compressed sensing framework for remote sensing images was proposed, which includes five parts: mode selection, feature factor extraction, adaptive shape segmentation, adaptive sampling rate allocation and image reconstruction. Unlike previous semi-adaptive or local adaptive methods, the advantages of the adaptive encoding and decoding method proposed in this paper are mainly reflected in four aspects: (1) Ability to select encoding modes based on image content, and maximizing the use of the richness of the image to select appropriate sampling methods; (2) Capable of utilizing image texture details for adaptive segmentation, effectively separating complex and smooth regions; (3) Being able to detect the sparsity of encoding blocks and adaptively allocate sampling rates to fully explore the compressibility of images; (4) The reconstruction matrix can be adaptively selected based on the size of the encoding block to alleviate block artifacts caused by non-stationary characteristics of the image. Experimental results show that the method proposed in this article has good stability for remote sensing images with complex edge textures, with the peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity remaining above 35 dB and 0.8. Moreover, especially for ocean images with relatively simple image content, when the sampling rate is 0.26, the peak signal-to-noise ratio reaches 50.8 dB, and the structural similarity is 0.99. In addition, the recovered images have the smallest BRISQUE value, with better clarity and less distortion. In the subjective aspect, the reconstructed image has clear edge details and good reconstruction effect, while the block effect is effectively suppressed. The framework designed in this paper is superior to similar algorithms in both subjective visual and objective evaluation indexes, which is of great significance for alleviating the incompatibility between traditional information acquisition methods and satellite-borne earth observation missions. Sessile drying droplets manifest distinct morphological patterns, encompassing diverse systems, viz., DNA, proteins, blood, and protein-liquid crystal (LC) complexes. This study employs an integrated methodology that combines drying droplet, image texture analysis (features from First Order Statistics, Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix, Gray Level Run Length Matrix, Gray Level Size Zone Matrix, and Gray Level Dependence Matrix), and statistical data analysis (Generalized Additive Modeling and K-means clustering). It provides a comprehensive qualitative and quantitative exploration by examining LC-protein droplets at varying initial phosphate buffered concentrations (0x, 0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x, and 1x) during the drying process under optical microscopy with crossed polarizing configuration. Notably, it unveils distinct LC-protein textures across three drying stages: initial, middle, and final. The Generalized Additive Modeling (GAM) reveals that all the features significantly contribute to differentiating LC-protein droplets. Integrating the K-means clustering method with GAM analysis elucidates how textures evolve through the three drying stages compared to the entire drying process. Notably, the final drying stage stands out with well-defined, non-overlapping clusters, supporting the visual observations of unique LC textures. Inspection robots for early detection of potential risks in severe environments require a high accuracy like human experts. A fine mechanism is crucial for extracting target components from noisy signals. We have proposed a detection system for submillimeter-width cracks in concrete surfaces of social infrastructures, such as bridges, by using morphological component analysis (MCA), for aerial image-inspection robots. Traditional schemes like PCA have relied on linear decomposition for the separation of target signal and noise components. Recent advancement in signal decomposition focuses on the enhancement of linearity in the separation by introducing a set of nonlinear basis functions to represent the raw signal even when multiple factors are mixed in a nonlinear manner. In this sense, MCA is a core technique to be able to isolate target components to represent submillimeter-width cracks from others. We proposed a proper pre- and post-processing operations to attach MCA, which demonstrated a high accuracy yet coarse and fine image components have to be integrated redundantly. In the present study, we successfully found a simpler mechanism to set the single basis function to extract the target by introducing a new thresholding mechanism. Objectives: To perform a comprehensive within-subject image quality analysis of abdominal CT examinations reconstructed with DLIR and to evaluate diagnostic accuracy compared to the routinely applied adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASiR-V) algorithm. Materials and methods: Oncologic patients were prospectively enrolled and underwent contrast-enhanced CT. Images were reconstructed with DLIR with three intensity levels of reconstruction (high, medium, and low) and ASiR-V at strength levels from 10 to 100% with a 10% interval. Three radiologists characterized the lesions and two readers assessed diagnostic accuracy and calculated signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), figure of merit (FOM), and subjective image quality, the latter with a 5-point Likert scale. Results: Fifty patients (mean age: 70 ± 10 years, 23 men) were enrolled and 130 liver lesions (105 benign lesions, 25 metastases) were identified. DLIR_H achieved the highest SNR and CNR, comparable to ASiR-V 100% (p ≥.051). DLIR_M returned the highest subjective image quality (score: 5; IQR: 4–5; p ≤.001) and significant median increase (29%) in FOM (p <.001). Differences in detection were identified only for lesions ≤ 0.5 cm: 32/33 lesions were detected with DLIR_M and 26 lesions were detected with ASiR-V 50% (p =.031). Lesion accuracy of was 93.8% (95% CI: 88.1, 97.3; 122 of 130 lesions) for DLIR and 87.7% (95% CI: 80.8, 92.8; 114 of 130 lesions) for ASiR-V 50%. Conclusions: DLIR yields superior image quality and provides higher diagnostic accuracy compared to ASiR-V in the assessment of hypovascular liver lesions, in particular for lesions ≤ 0.5 cm. Clinical relevance statement: Deep learning image reconstruction algorithm demonstrates higher diagnostic accuracy compared to iterative reconstruction in the identification of hypovascular liver lesions, especially for lesions ≤ 0.5 cm. Cotton is one of the most important economic crops in China. It is of great significance to predict the yield of cotton. In this study, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) remote sensing platform was first used to collect some data on the densely planted cotton in Xinjiang, China. Five-point sampling was also utilized in the period of defoliation. A total of five cotton fields were then selected as well. Secondly, each image was divided into multiple sub-images and then enhanced by color space conversion, brightness, noise blurring, flipping and rotating operation. A high-quality dataset was constructed to estimate the cotton yield. Better training was achieved, compared with the original. Eventually, the cotton dataset with the construction site was used to extract the element rate from the cotton images using RCH-UNet (resnet coordinate hardswish UNet). Among them, the UNet was used as a baseline model to construct an improved U-type convolutional neural network. While the IoU (intersection over union), PA (pixel accuracy), and precision were taken as the evaluation metrics. The overall RCH-UNet improved the three metrics by 14.34, 9.85, and 8.68 percentage points, respectively, compared with the original UNet. Specifically, ResNet50 backbone feature extraction network was selected to replace the traditional CBR (convolution batch normalization ReLU) downs sampling structure in UNet; The CA (coordinate attention) mechanism was combined with the UNet; The ReLU activation function in UNet was replaced with the hardswish activation function. The results showed that: 1) The richer semantic information in the ResNet50 was learned through the residual structure, indicating the better feature extraction and expression of the improved model. 2) The CA mechanism was significantly enhanced to learn the detailed features. At the same time, there was an effective reduction in the interference of irrelevant features to the model. 3) The hardswish activation function presented the stronger expression and feature fusion of UNet when performing up-sampling and jump connection. Subsequently, the performance of RCH-UNet was tested with the PSPNet and DeepLabv3 models under the same experimental conditions. The IoU, PA, and precision of RCH-UNet had improved by 9.15, 6.31, and 3.99 percentage points, respectively, compared with the DeepLabv3 model. A prediction model of cotton yield was constructed with the ridge regression from the cotton pixels extracted by the RCH-UNet model. The image texture features were also extracted by GLCM (gray-level co-occurrence matrix). The R² value of the improved model was 0.92, and the average relative error between the predicted and actual yield was 9.254%. The RCH-UNet model was accurately and effectively extracted from the cotton images; Meanwhile, the prediction model of cotton yield was effectively verified using deep learning and image processing. Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging is a technique for non-invasive detection of microstructure in the white matter of the human brain, which is widely used in neuroscience research of the brain. However, diffusion-weighted images(DWI) are sensitive to noise, which affects the subsequent reconstruction of fiber orientation direction, microstructural parameter estimation and fiber tracking. In order to better eliminate the noise in diffusion-weighted images, this study proposes a noise reduction method combining Marchenko-Pastur principal component analysis(MPPCA) and rotation-invariant non-local means filter(RINLM) to further remove residual noise and preserve the image texture detail information. In this study, the algorithm is applied to the fiber structure and the prevailing microstructural models within the human brain voxels based on simulated and real human brain datasets. Experimental comparisons between the proposed method and the state-of-the-art methods are performed in single-fiber, multi-fiber, crossed and curved-fiber regions as well as in different microstructure estimation models. Results demonstrated the superior performance of the proposed method in denoising DWI data, which can reduce the angular error in fiber orientation reconstruction to obtain more valid fiber structure estimation and enable more complete fiber tracking trajectories with higher coverage. Fresh grapes are characterized by a short shelf life and are often subjected to quality losses during post-harvest storage. The quality assessment of grapes using image analysis may be a useful approach using non-destructive methods. This study aimed to compare the effect of different storage methods on the grape image texture parameters of the fruit outer structure. Grape bunches were stored for 4 weeks using 3 storage methods (– 18 °C, + 4 °C, and room temperature) and then were subjected subsequently to image acquisition using a flatbed scanner and image processing. The models for the classification of fresh and stored grapes were built based on selected image textures using traditional machine learning algorithms. The fresh grapes and stored fruit samples (for 4 weeks) in the freezer, in the refrigerator and in the room were classified with an overall accuracy reaching 96% for a model based on selected texture parameters from images in color channels R, G, B, L, a, and b built using Random Forest algorithm. Among the individual color channels, the carried-out classification for the R color channel produced the highest overall accuracies of up to 92.5% for Random Forest. As a result, this study proposed an innovative approach combining image analysis and traditional machine learning to assess changes in the outer structure of grape berries caused by different storage conditions. [Objective] In recent years, there has been a steady increase in the occurrence and fatality rates of shrimp diseases, causing substantial impacts in shrimp aquaculture. These diseases are marked by their swift onset, high infectivity, complex control requirements, and elevated mortality rates. With the continuous growth of shrimp factory farming, traditional manual detection approaches are no longer able to keep pace with the current requirements. Hence, there is an urgent necessity for an automated solution to identify shrimp diseases. The main goal of this research is to create a cost-effective inspection method using computer vision that achieves a harmonious balance between cost efficiency and detection accuracy. The improved YOLOv8 (You Only Look Once) network and multiple features were employed to detect shrimp diseases. [Methods] To address the issue of surface foam interference, the improved YOLOv8 network was applied to detect and extract surface shrimps as the primary focus of the image. This target detection approach accurately recognizes objects of interest in the image, determining their category and location, with extraction results surpassing those of threshold segmentation. Taking into account the cost limitations of platform computing power in practical production settings, the network was optimized by reducing parameters and computations, thereby improving detection speed and deployment efficiency. Additionally, the Farnberck optical flow method and gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) were employed to capture the movement and image texture features of shrimp video clips. A dataset was created using these extracted multiple feature parameters, and a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier was trained to categorize the multiple feature parameters in video clips, facilitating the detection of shrimp health. [Results and Discussions] The improved YOLOv8 in this study effectively enhanced detection accuracy without increasing the number of parameters and flops. According to the results of the ablation experiment, replacing the backbone network with FasterNet lightweight backbone network significantly reduces the number of parameters and computation, albeit at the cost of decreased accuracy. However, after integrating the efficient multi-scale attention (EMA) on the neck, the mAP0.5 increased by 0.3% compared to YOLOv8s, while mAP0.95 only decreased by 2.1%. Furthermore, the parameter count decreased by 45%, and FLOPs decreased by 42%. The improved YOLOv8 exhibits remarkable performance, ranking second only to YOLOv7 in terms of mAP0.5 and mAP0.95, with respective reductions of 0.4% and 0.6%. Additionally, it possesses a significantly reduced parameter count and FLOPS compared to YOLOv7, matching those of YOLOv5. Despite the YOLOv7-Tiny and YOLOv8-VanillaNet models boasting lower parameters and Flops, their accuracy lags behind that of the improved YOLOv8. The mAP0.5 and mAP0.95 of YOLOv7-Tiny and YOLOv8-VanillaNet are 22.4%, 36.2%, 2.3%, and 4.7% lower than that of the improved YOLOv8, respectively. Using a support vector machine (SVM) trained on a comprehensive dataset incorporating multiple feature, the classifier achieved an impressive accuracy rate of 97.625%. The 150 normal fragments and the 150 diseased fragments were randomly selected as test samples. The classifier exhibited a detection accuracy of 89% on this dataset of the 300 samples. This result indicates that the combination of features extracted using the Farnberck optical flow method and GLCM can effectively capture the distinguishing dynamics of movement speed and direction between infected and healthy shrimp. In this research, the majority of errors stem from the incorrect recognition of diseased segments as normal segments, accounting for 88.2% of the total error. These errors can be categorized into three main types: 1) The first type occurs when floating foam obstructs the water surface, resulting in a small number of shrimp being extracted from the image. 2) The second type is attributed to changes in water movement. In this study, nanotubes were used for oxygenation, leading to the generation of sprays on the water surface, which affected the movement of shrimp. 3) The third type of error is linked to video quality. When the video's pixel count is low, the difference in optical flow between diseased shrimp and normal shrimp becomes relatively small. Therefore, it is advisable to adjust the collection area based on the actual production environment and enhance video quality. [Conclusions] The multiple features introduced in this study effectively capture the movement of shrimp, and can be employed for disease detection. The improved YOLOv8 is particularly well-suited for platforms with limited computational resources and is feasible for deployment in actual production settings. However, the experiment was conducted in a factory farming environment, limiting the applicability of the method to other farming environments. Overall, this method only requires consumer-grade cameras as image acquisition equipment and has lower requirements on the detection platform, and can provide a theoretical basis and methodological support for the future application of aquatic disease detection methods. Background/purpose: Skin elasticity was used to evaluate healthy and diseased skin. Correlation analysis between image texture characteristics and skin elasticity was performed to study the feasibility of assessing skin elasticity using a non‐contact method. Materials and methods: Skin images in the near‐infrared band were acquired using a hyperspectral camera, and skin elasticity was obtained using a skin elastimeter. Texture features of the mean, standard deviation, entropy, contrast, correlation, homogeneity, and energy were extracted from the acquired skin images, and a correlation analysis with skin elasticity was performed. Results: The texture features, and skin elasticity of skin images in the near‐infrared band had the highest correlation on the side of eye and under of arm, and the mean and correlation were features of texture suitable for distinguishing skin elasticity according to the body part. Conclusion: In this study, we performed elasticity and correlation analyses for various body parts using the texture characteristics of skin hyperspectral images in the near‐infrared band, confirming a significant correlation in some body parts. Objectives: In recent years, a great breakthrough has been made in the text generation image problem based on generative adversarial networks (GAN). It can generate corresponding images based on the semantic information of the text, and has great application value. However, the current generated image results usually lack specific texture details, and often have problems such as collapsed modes and lack of diversity. Methods: This paper proposes a determinant point process for generative adversarial networks(GAN-DPP) to improve the quality of the generated samples, and uses two baseline models, Stack-GAN++ and ControlGAN, to implement GAN-DPP. During the training, it uses determinantal point process kernel to model the diversity of real data and synthetic data and encourages the generator to generate diversity data similar to the real data through penalty loss. It improves the clarity and diversity of generated samples, and reduces problems such as mode collapse. No extra calculations were added during training. Results: This paper compares the generated results through indicators. For the inception score, a high value indicates that the image clarity and diversity have improved. On the Oxford-102 dataset, the score of GAN-DPP-S is increased by 3.1% compared with StackGAN++, and the score of GAN-DPPC is 3.4% higher than that of ControlGAN. For the CUB dataset, the score of GAN-DPP-S increased by 8.2%, and the score of GAN-DPP-C increased by 1.9%. For the Fréchet Inception Distance score, the lower the value, the better the quality of image generation. On the Oxford-102 dataset, the score of GANDPP-S is reduced by 11.1%, and the score of GAN-DPP-C is reduced by 11.2%. For the CUB dataset, the score of GAN-DPP-S is reduced by 6.4%, and the score of GAN-DPP-C is reduced by 3.1%. Conclusions: The qualitative and quantitative comparative experiments prove that the proposed GAN-DPP method improves the performance of the generative confrontation network model. Satellite infrared detectors cannot penetrate clouds, especially precipitating clouds. Improving precipitation estimation accuracy based on infrared brightness temperature has always been important but challenging. In this paper, based on the infrared brightness temperature of the Advanced Geosynchronous Radiation Imager (AGRI) onboard China's Feng‐Yun 4A satellite, we develop and evaluate a new precipitation estimation method. First, using static data, physical characteristics of clouds, cloud image texture features, temporal motion features, and AGRI infrared channel brightness temperature, we construct features for a machine learning model. Then, we develop precipitation estimation methods. Precipitation is estimated in two steps: classification and regression. We employ a random forest classification model to identify whether there is precipitation in a given field of view. If there is precipitation, a multi‐model ensemble regression learning method is used to estimate the areas with this precipitation. The ensemble learning method uses convex optimization to integrate prediction results based on the optimization of hyperparameters of five basic models (i.e., those of random forest, XGBoost, LightGBM, decision tree, and extra tree models). Furthermore, two regression stacking ensemble models—the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (herein referred to as Stacking1‐LASSO) and K‐nearest neighbor (herein referred to as Stacking2‐KNN)—are used to predict the results of the aforementioned basic models. The results of basic models are used as inputs of these two stacking models. Finally, based on the Integrated Multi‐satellitE Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) precipitation product and rain gauge precipitation data, we conduct precipitation estimation experiments and evaluate our methods. The results show that ensemble learning models have greater accuracy in estimating precipitation than the basic models. When using IMERG precipitation as the target precipitation, ensemble learning models can estimate the central area of heavy precipitation during typhoons Ampil and Maria. The ensemble learning estimation effect is better than that of Stacking2‐KNN. Moreover, when rain gauge data is used as the target precipitation, ensemble learning can also estimate the center of heavy precipitation and with good consistency with recorded satellite brightness temperature data. Precise and content-aware style transfer in oil painting remains a significant research focus. This involves preserving the semantic content of the original image while accurately emulating the desired painting style. Developing robust algorithms for accurate recognition and classification of various patterns within oil paintings remains a challenge which identify and categorize styles, textures and visual elements to contribute comprehensive understanding of the artwork. The conventional image style transfer algorithm mainly relies on mathematical modeling to characterize image texture facilitating the combination of a content image with a style image to realize style transfer effects. These algorithms neglect the distribution of image edges leading to blurred contours in the resulting images. To address these limitations, this paper proposed a novel decoration pattern style migration algorithm based on SRCNN (Super Resolution Convolutional Neural Network) model using UNet-based architecture. The algorithm leverages the Laplace operator for image sharpening by accentuating edge distributions. Downsampling techniques are used to generate low-resolution images mitigating the protracted duration of image style transfer iterations. The incorporation of Gaussian sampling and a parallelization algorithm contributes to the efficacy of this method in facilitating the transfer of oil painting styles. The proposed model achieves better results using Facades data set, i.e., variance (6.35%), standard deviation (8.67%), uncertainty (11.21%), SSIM score (94.45%), PSNR score (40.24%), MSE score (6.21%) and accuracy (95.00%). For the Monet2photo data set, i.e., variance (7.25%), standard deviation (9.78%), uncertainty (12.78%), SSIM score (91.69%), PSNR score (43.71%), MSE score (8.67%) and accuracy (92.00%). Deep neural networks have been extensively applied in fields such as image classification, object detection, and face recognition. However, research has shown that adversarial samples with subtle perturbations can effectively deceive these networks. Existing methods for generating such adversarial images often lack stealth and robustness. In this study, we present an enhanced attack strategy based on traditional Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). We integrate image texture into the unsupervised training scheme, guiding the model to focus perturbations in high-texture areas. We also introduce a dynamic equilibrium training strategy that employs Differential Evolution algorithms to adaptively adjust both network weight parameters and the training ratio between the generator and discriminator, achieving a self-balancing training process. Further, we propose an image local optimization algorithm to eliminate perturbations in non-sensitive areas through weighted filtering. The model is validated using benchmark datasets such as MNIST, ImageNet and SVHN. Through extensive experimental evaluations, our approach shows a 4.93% improvement in attack success rate against conventional models and a 10.23% increase against defense models compared to state-of-the-art attack methods. Background: Radiation dose reduction has been the focus of many research activities in x‐ray CT. Various approaches were taken to minimize the dose to patients, ranging from the optimization of clinical protocols, refinement of the scanner hardware design, and development of advanced reconstruction algorithms. Although significant progress has been made, more advancements in this area are needed to minimize the radiation risks to patients. Purpose: Reconstruction algorithm‐based dose reduction approaches focus mainly on the suppression of noise in the reconstructed images while preserving detailed anatomical structures. Such an approach effectively produces synthesized high‐dose images (SHD) from the data acquired with low‐dose scans. A representative example is the model‐based iterative reconstruction (MBIR). Despite its widespread deployment, its full adoption in a clinical environment is often limited by an undesirable image texture. Recent studies have shown that deep learning image reconstruction (DLIR) can overcome this shortcoming. However, the limited availability of high‐quality clinical images for training and validation is often the bottleneck for its development. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to generate SHD with existing low‐dose clinical datasets that overcomes both the noise texture issue and the data availability issue. Methods: Our approach is based on the observation that noise in the image can be effectively reduced by performing image processing orthogonal to the imaging plane. This process essentially creates an equivalent thick‐slice image (TSI), and the characteristics of TSI depend on the nature of the image processing. An advantage of this approach is its potential to reduce impact on the noise texture. The resulting image, however, is likely corrupted by the anatomical structural degradation due to partial volume effects. Careful examination has shown that the differential signal between the original and the processed image contains sufficient information to identify regions where anatomical structures are modified. The differential signal, unfortunately, contains significant noise and has to be removed. The noise removal can be accomplished by performing iterative noise reduction to preserve structural information. The processed differential signal is subsequently subtracted from TSI to arrive at SHD. Results: The algorithm was evaluated extensively with phantom and clinical datasets. For better visual inspection, difference images between the original and SHD were generated and carefully examined. Negligible residual structure could be observed. In addition to the qualitative inspection, quantitative analyses were performed on clinical images in terms of the CT number consistency and the noise reduction characteristics. Results indicate that no CT number bias is introduced by the proposed algorithm. In addition, noise reduction capability is consistent across different patient anatomical regions. Further, simulated water phantom scans were utilized in the generation of the noise power spectrum (NPS) to demonstrate the preservation of the noise‐texture. Conclusions: We present a method to generate SHD datasets from regularly acquired low‐dose CT scans. Images produced with the proposed approach exhibit excellent noise‐reduction with the desired noise‐texture. Extensive clinical and phantom studies have demonstrated the efficacy and robustness of our approach. High-resolution remote sensing imagery plays a strategic role in critical applications such as water resource management, water quality monitoring, and emergency responses to natural disasters for the quick and accurate identification and extraction of water bodies. However, traditional water body extraction methods present various challenges, particularly in the selection of image texture and characteristic features. In this study, a methodology is proposed that combines geometric features extracted from point cloud data with spectral information obtained from aerial photographs to more effectively define and extract the boundaries of water bodies. The geometric features generated from three-dimensional (3D) structure tensors are merged with the spectral information produced by the sensor system, and the well-known Random Forest (RF) classifier suitable for high-dimensional data, speed, and resistance to overfitting is used for training in water body detection. The effectiveness of the methodology developed in Matlab has been tested over four different locations in Turkey with varying topographic and vegetative characteristics. When the accuracy analysis of the detected water body boundaries is evaluated through the F-Score, the following were obtained: 85.7% for Study Area-1, 76.6% for Study Area-1 River, 93.7% for Study Area-2, 94.9% for Study Area-3, and 73.6% for Study Area-4. The study demonstrates that the presented methodology is applicable across different spatial scales and sensor types and carries potential for comprehensive uses in environmental and hydrological research. Crop lodging detrimentally affects crop yield and mechanical harvest efficiency. Traditional remote sensing-based methods primarily focus on the identification and area extraction of lodging using image texture and spectrum. However, the response of image texture and spectrum to lodging is indirect and varies under diverse conditions. Moreover, other important finer details of lodging phenotyping, such as lodging angle and lodging type, have frequently been neglected. In this study, a robust and accurate method was developed for investigating lodging phenotypes in the field. The method was based on the three-dimensional morphological information of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) canopy reconstructed from unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images. In contrast to traditional remote sensing methods that only identify lodging targets and their respective areas, the novel method in this study calculated the total lodging angle (TLA), root lodging angle (RLA), stem lodging angle (SLA = TLA - RLA), and lodging types according to a morphological method and a lodging classification model. Initially, the method employed a geometric model to characterize the stalk shape of lodged rapeseed. After assessing numerous lodging samples from individual rapeseed plants, the circle function was identified as the optimal geometric model. With this optimal function, the canopy height derived from the UAV images was found effective in calculating TLA, RLA, and SLA across 24 rapeseed cultivars in five climatic zones within the Yangtze River Basin (YRB) in China. Results showed that the average root mean square error (RMSE) was 8.3° for TLA and 7.4° for RLA. Subsequently, based on field measured data of SLA and RLA, a decision tree model was constructed to classify lodging types and an accuracy of 95.4% was achieved. Using the classification model and estimated values of RLA and SLA, the spatial distribution information and specific area estimates for different lodging types were obtained. Based on the analysis of these results, the rapeseed cultivars Zhongshuang 11 and Dadi 199 were determined to be the dominant cultivars with lodging resistance in the YRB, even though they did not achieve the mean high yields in multiple climatic zones. However, the lodging-prone cultivars such as Qinyou7 and Qinyou33 fell under the low-yield level in all climatic zones. To ensure the timely detection of safety hazards in transmission lines and to enhance accurately the detection of insulator defects in complicated environments, this study proposes a 3D attention-focused pure convolutional target detection algorithm (CMYOLOv7) based on you only look once v7 (YOLOv7) for defect detection on insulators in complicated environments. Firstly, to address the incapacity of focusing on the target in the backbone feature extraction networks, this study proposes a focused pure convolutional feature extraction module (ConvSimCB) to enhance the extraction and focus capability on insulator defect features. Secondly, to solve the problem of loss of key detail feature information caused by maximum pooling in spatial pyramid pooling module (SPPCSPC), this study proposes a mixed spatial pyramid pooling module (MIXPCSPC) to retain abundant image texture detail information and increase accuracy in detection of tiny insulator defects. Finally, a lightweight generic upsampling operator (CARAFE) is introduced to enhance the feature map resolution to address image distortion caused by the Nearest Neighbor Method of upsampling. This study proposed CMYOLOv7 achieves 98.37% precision, 90.59% recall, 95.68% mean average precision (MAP), and 94% F1 score, higher than YOLOv7 by 0.61%, 8.64%, 5.41%, and 5%. This study was aimed at assessing the effect of microwave drying at 100, 200, or 300 W on the quality of Cavendish banana slices without pretreatment and with pretreatment using 5% ascorbic acid solution, 5% citric acid solution, 5% gum arabic solution, and ultrasound. Banana slices were imaged using a digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera. The acquired images were processed to extract texture parameters. The classification models were developed based on image texture parameters selected from a big dataset of 2172 textures of images in different color channels using artificial neural networks. Wide Neural Network, Bilayered Neural Network, Medium Neural Network and three classifiers from the group of function, such as RBF (Radial basis function) Network, Multilayer Perceptron, and WiSARD were applied. Banana slices belonging to 15 classes with different combinations of pretreatment and microwave drying were distinguished with an average accuracy of up to 97.2% for a model built using Multilayer Perceptron. For most models, banana samples microwave-dried at 200 W without pretreatment were classified with the highest correctness. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based remote sensing technology has become increasingly popular for crop canopy water status estimation. Nevertheless, the capability of vegetation indices (VIs) along with textural information from high-resolution imagery for estimating cotton canopy water status has been rarely explored. The VIs, texture features (TFs), and texture indices (TIs) were obtained from UAV multispectral images of cotton with different irrigation levels and nitrogen rates in the southern Xinjiang of China. The performances of three machine learning models, i.e. support vector machine (SVM), back-propagation neural network (BPNN) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) were evaluated for estimating canopy equivalent water thickness (CEWT) and crop water stress index (CWSI) throughout the cotton growing season. The results showed that combining vegetation indices and textural information significantly improved the estimation accuracy of models compared to vegetation indices or textural information alone. The XGBoost_VIs + TFs model exhibited the best accuracy in estimating CEWT (R2 = 0.75, RMSE = 0.01 cm, RE = 19.46 % at upper half-canopy level, and R2 = 0.65, RMSE = 0.02 cm, RE = 24.59 % at all-canopy level), while the XGBoost_VIs + TFs + TIs model performed best in predicting CWSI among the models (R2 = 0.90, RMSE = 0.05, RE = 5.84 %). Although CEWT estimation was fair to some extent, CWSI estimation was more applicable for diagnosing cotton water stress. The CWSI maps created from the optimal XGBoost_VIs + TFs + TIs model intuitively reflected the cotton canopy water status under various irrigation levels and nitrogen rates, which could help farmers implement timely and precision irrigation in cotton production. The fusion of infrared and visible images aims to extract and fuse thermal target information and texture details to the fullest extent possible, enhancing the visual understanding capabilities of images for both humans and computers in complex scenes. However, existing methods have difficulties in preserving the comprehensiveness of source image feature information and enhancing the saliency of image texture information. Therefore, we put forward a novel infrared and visible image fusion algorithm based on global information-enhanced attention network (GIEA). Specifically, we develop an attention-guided Transformer module (AGTM) to make sure the fused images have enough global information. This module combines the convolutional neural network and Transformer to perform adequate feature extraction from shallow to deep layers, and utilize the attention network for multi-level feature-guided learning. Then, we build the contrast enhancement module (CENM), which enhances the feature representation and contrast of the image so that the fused image contains significant texture information. Furthermore, our network is driven to fully preserve the texture and structure details of the source images with a loss function that consists of content loss and total variance loss. Granulation is a common internal disease in citrus fruits, and it is difficult to distinguish fruits with granulation disease from their appearance. In this study, a novel acoustic vibration device based on a micro-LDV, a microphone and a resonance speaker was employed to collect acoustic vibration response signals of "Aiyuan 38" jelly orange. The one-dimensional acoustic vibration response signal was converted into acoustic vibration images, and a double-input Resnet-Transformer network (DresT) was constructed for extracting deep features in acoustic vibration images for identifying jelly-orange granulation disease. Firstly, train Drest and Resnet50 models using acoustic vibration images and compare the performance of Drest with that of Resnet50 (based on CNN). Then PLS-DA and SVM models are trained using acoustic vibration image texture features or acoustic vibration spectral features, and the performance is compared with the DresT model. The results showed that the DresT model trained using acoustic vibration images can accurately identify jelly orange granulation disease with a detection accuracy of 99.31 %. The F 1 of the model is 99.5 %, the accuracy is 99.01 %, and the recall is 100 %. • Construct a dual-input Resnet-Transformer network (DresT). • Detection of jelly orange granulation disease using a novel acoustic vibration device. • Converted acoustic vibration response signals to acoustic vibration images. • Compared performance of models based on different types of data. • Achieved precise identification of Jelly Orange granulation disease.
