In this work, we report on five novel coordination polymers (CPs) based on the linkage of the [Cd(6apic)2] building block [where 6apic = 6-aminopicolinate] by different bipyridine-type organic spacers, forming different coordination compounds with the following formulae: [Cd(μ-6apic)2]n (1), {[Cd(6apic)2(μ-bipy)]·H2O}n (2), {[Cd(6apic)2(μ-bpe)]·2H2O}n (3), [Cd(6apic)(μ-6apic)(μ-bpa)0.5]n (4) and {[Cd2(6apic)4(μ-tmbp)]·7H2O}n (5) [where bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine, bpe = 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethylene, bpa = 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpa) and tmbp = 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane]. Most of the synthesized compounds form infinite metal–organic rods through the linkage of the building block by the bipyridine-type linker, except in the case of compound 4 whose assembly forms a densely packed 3D architecture. All compounds were fully characterized and their photoluminescence properties were studied experimentally and computationally through density functional theory (DFT) calculations. All compounds display, upon UV excitation, a similar blue emission of variable intensity depending on the linker employed for the connection of the building units, among which compound 2 deserves to be highlighted for its room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) with an emission lifetime of 32 ms that extends to 79 ms at low temperature. These good photoluminescence properties, in addition to its stability in water over a wide pH range (between 2 and 10), motivated us to study compound 2 as a sensor for the detection of metal ions in water, and it showed high sensitivity to Fe3+ through a fluorescence turn-off mechanism and an unspecific turn-on response to Zn2+. Furthermore, the compound is processed as a paper-based analytical device (PAD) in which the phosphorescence emission is preserved, improving the sensing capacity toward Fe3+ ions. Cellulosic paper-based electrode materials have attracted increasing attention in the field of flexible supercapacitor. As a conductive polymer, polyaniline exhibits high theoretical pseudocapacitive capacitance and has been applied in paper-based electrode materials along with cellulose fibers. However, the stacking of polyaniline usually leads to poor performance of electrodes. In this study, metal-organic coordination polymers of zirconium-alizarin red S and zirconium-phytic acid are applied to modulate the polyaniline layer to obtain high-performance cellulosic paper-based electrode materials. Zirconium hydroxide is firstly loaded on cellulose fibers while alizarin red S and phytic acid are introduced to regulate the morphology of polyaniline through doping and coordination processes. The results show that the introduction of dual coordination polymers is effective to regulate the morphology of polyaniline on cellulose fibers. The performances of the paper-based electrode materials, including electrical conductivity and electrochemistry, are apparently improved. Long-term excessive uptake of fluoride through potable water will cause adverse effects on human health. Therefore, it is of great significance to detect and remove excessive fluoride in potable water. Here, we reported a multi-functional Zr-based coordination polymer namely CP-1, which could realize the visual detection and effectively selective adsorption of fluoride. The investigation of fluoride adsorption manifested that the maximum fluoride adsorption capacity of CP-1 could reach 48.78 mg g−1 and selective adsorption capacity kept stable in a wide range of pH. By fluorometric approaches, the detection of limit of F− could achieve 1.55 × 10–6 mol L−1 based on CP-1. The introduction of nitrogen‐containing functional groups to chiral polymer backbones enables the tailoring of physical properties and offers opportunities for further post‐polymerization modification. However, the substrate scope of such polymers is extremely limited because monomers having nitrogen‐containing groups can change coordination state with respect to the metal centers, thus decreasing the activity and enantioselectivity and even poisoning the catalyst completely. In this paper, we report our attempts to carry out the asymmetric copolymerization of meso‐epoxide with highly reactive isocyanates. In particular, we found that biphenol‐linked bimetallic Co(III) complexes with multiple chiral centers are very efficient in catalyzing this asymmetric copolymerization reaction, affording optically active polyurethanes with a completely alternating nature and a high enantioselectivity of up to 94 % ee. Crucially, we identified that the steric hindrance at the phenolate ortho position of the ligand strongly influences the catalytic activity and product enantioselectivity. In addition, density functional theory calculations revealed that the highly sterically bulky substituents change the mechanism from bimetallic to monometallic, and result in the unexpected inversion of the chiral induction direction. Moreover, the high stereoregularity of the produced polyurethanes enhances their thermal stability, and they can be selectively decomposed into oxazolidinones. In this paper, a new 0D Ag(I)‐based coordination polymer [Ag2(dib)(H2L)2](1) is proposed as a photocatalyst for the photocatalytic degradation of nitrofurantoin (NFT) under ultraviolet irradiation. The catalytic 1 was analyzed by various methods such as PXRD, SEM, FT‐IR, TGA, UV–vis, DRS, and electrochemical tests. The experimental result shows that 1 is an n‐type semiconductor, which can effectively catalyze the photodegradation of NFT under ultraviolet irradiation. Under the optimal reaction conditions, the photodegradation rate of NFT was 97.95% within 60 min when the concentration of NFT was 30 ppm. The experiment of free radical capture shows that O2˙− is the main active substance for photodecomposition, and the possible mechanism of 1 catalytic degradation of NFT is proposed. This paper investigates the synthesis, crystal structure, thermal properties, and energetic performance of two 1D coordination polymers (CPs). The CPs, namely, [Zn(atrz)(DNBA)2(H2O)2]n (1) and [Cd(atrz)(DNBA)2(H2O)2]n (2), were designed and synthesized based on the nitrogen-rich ligand 4,4′-azobis-1,2,4-triazole (atrz) and 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid (HDNBA) via a mixed ligand strategy using a simple and environment-friendly method. The CPs were characterized by various spectroscopic and analytical techniques along with single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD). SCXRD analysis reveals a distorted octahedral geometry around the metal ions (Zn/Cd), leading to the formation of a 1D coordination polymer while constructing a 2D structural framework through intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Both the CPs exhibit similar thermal stability but considerably differ in their heat of formation values (1 = −894.43, 2 = 1635.93 kJ mol−1). CP 2 has higher detonation velocity (7.24 km s−1) and pressure (23.67 GPa) compared to 1 (detonation velocity: 6.28 km s−1, detonation pressure: 17.57 GPa) owing to its higher heat of formation and density. Both the CPs exhibit ideal insensitivity to friction and impact stimuli, ensuring their safety during transportation and processing. The value of average activation energy obtained from isoconversion ASTM E698 for 1 and 2 was reported to be 143.8 and 168.0 kJ mol−1, respectively. This study explores the development of energetic CPs through the mixed ligand strategy based on the atrz ligand and incorporating HDNBA as the co-ligand to reduce the sensitivity while maintaining the comparable energetic performance of previously reported atrz-based complexes. The micro-occurrence characterization of shale oil is a key geological issue that restricts the effective development of continental shale oil in China. In order to make up for the lack of research in this area, this paper carries out a series of experiments on the shale oil of the Lucaogou Formation using a multi-step extraction method, with the aim of exploring the micro-occurrence types and mechanisms of shale oil in the Lucaogou Formation, as well as exploring its direct connection with production and development. In this paper, shale oil in the reservoir is divided into two categories: free oil and residual oil. The polar substances and OSN compounds are the key factors determining the occurrence state of shale oil. Abundant polar substances and OSN compounds can preferentially react with mineral surfaces (including coordination, complexation, ionic exchange, and so on) to form a stable adsorption layer, making it difficult to extract residual oil in actual exploitation. Free oil is mainly composed of aliphatic hydrocarbons, and its adsorption capacity is related to the length of the carbon chain, i.e. long carbon chain, strong adsorption capacity, and poor movability. Free oil is widely stored in pores and cracks, and that with high mobility can be the most easily extracted, making it the main target at present exploitation. In the current state of drilling and fracturing technology, research should prioritize understanding the adsorption and desorption mechanisms of crude oil, particularly residual oil. This will help optimize exploitation programs, such as carbon dioxide fracturing and displacement, to enhance shale oil production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[Display omitted] Two novel luminescent MOFs, namely, {[Zn 2 (TCA)(BPPB)(DMA)(OH)]·2DMA} n (DZU-115) and [Zn(HTCA)(BPPB) 0.5 (DMA)] n (DZU-116), have been successfully synthesized. These MOFs were crafted using a combination of 4,4′,4″-tricarboxytriphenylamine (H 3 TCA) and 4,4′-(9,10-anthracenediyl)bis-pyridine (BPPB) as mixed ligands, with solvent modulation as the method of choice. Among them, DZU-115 stands out due to its captivating dual interpenetrating structure. This structure enables DZU-115 to exhibit a unique fluorescence response when stimulated by DMF, which can be visually observed as a change in fluorescence color on filter paper. Two new luminescent MOFs, namely, {[Zn 2 (TCA)(BPPB)(DMA)(OH)]·2DMA} n (DZU-115), [Zn(HTCA)(BPPB) 0.5 (DMA)] n (DZU-116. DZU, H 3 TCA, BPPB is short for Dezhou University, 4,4′,4″-tricarboxyltriphenylamine and 4,4′-(9,10-anthracenediyl)bis-Pyridine, respectively), were successfully synthesized by solvent adjustment and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. DZU-115 shows a fascinating three dimensional (3D) framework derived from the interlocking of 2D coordination dual-layers, while DZU-116 displays a different 2D layer structure. Due to the interpenetrated structure of DZU-115 that is in favor of the formation of interaction between the host frameworks and DMF molecules, a luminescent color transition from yellow-green to light orange has been found in DZU-115 when exposing the MOF to DMF solvent. Moreover, the DZU-115-based filter paper was also prepared, which is capable of producing visual changes in fluorescent color to identify DMF vapor. Remarkably, the color variation is highly reversible and the light orange color could be further converted back into yellow-green by immersing the material in DMA solvent again. Such a reversible stimuli-response behavior with the apparent luminescence color change indicates the potential application of the MOF as a recognition platform for DMF molecules. This study provides valuable insight into optimizing the performance of MOF by tuning the framework structures, and offers a promising avenue for the development of vapor molecule recognition materials. Organic electrode materials are gaining increased attention in energy storage applications, but often encounter challenges such as low capacity and poor cycling stability. This paper explores the utilization of a 1‐D coordination polymer, copper(II)‐2,5‐dihydroxy‐1,4‐benzoquinone (Cu‐DHBQ), as a cathode material for Li‐ion batteries for the first time. Cu‐DHBQ is air‐stable, devoid of coordinated water molecules, and possesses a high theoretical capacity of 266 mAh g−1. With an optimal sodium alginate (SA) binder content of 25 wt%, the Cu‐DHBQ cathode demonstrates a notable initial capacity of 214 mAh g−1 and outstanding cycling stability, retaining 210 mAh g−1 (98% capacity retention) after 200 cycles at a current rate of 100 mA g−1. A comprehensive investigation into the capacity fading mechanisms, the bonding capability of the SA binder, and the interactions between Cu‐DHBQ and SA is conducted using scanning electron microscope (SEM), peel tests, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), respectively. Additionally, the electrochemical reaction mechanisms of Cu‐DHBQ are examined using ex situ X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and FTIR. These findings offer valuable insights into understanding the electrochemical properties of coordination polymers and metal‐organic frameworks based on DHBQ, shedding light on their potential as materials for battery electrodes. Four coordination polymers were synthesized by two fluorescently active metal Zn/Cd(II) via pyrazinamide-based ligand [N,N′-bis[(3-pyridyl)arylphenolone]piperazine (L) and mono-/di-carboxylic acids under hydrothermal conditions, namely, [Zn(L)(HPTA)2(H2O)], [Cd(L)(HPTA)2(H2O)]∙2H2O, [Zn(L)0.5(1,4-H2BDC)(H2O)]∙H2O, [Cd(L)0.5(1,4-H2BDC)(H2O)]∙H2O and characterized by IR, PXRD and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The title complexes are from 1D "W"-shaped chains to 6-connected layers based on carboxylates and L ligands mixed linkers. The effect of metal and carboxylate on the structures of the title complexes were investigated. As fluorescent sensors for nitroaniline (NA) and nitrophenol (NOP), the title complexes show good recoverability, low LOD and high sensitivity. The applicability of [Cd(L)0.5(1,4-H2BDC)(H2O)]∙H2O was demonstrated by testing NOP and NA in three different aqueous environments (tap water, river water and wastewater). In the present paper, one-dimensional (1D) MWO 4 (M = Mn, Co, and Cd) materials synthesized by electrospinning technique, were studied by combining the density functional theory (DFT) with experiment results, which possessed the enhanced light absorption capability within the range of 200–2000 nm. It was proved that in the ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) region, the absorption bands of CoWO 4 and MnWO 4 samples were attributed to the metal-to-metal charge transfer mechanism, while the absorption of CdWO 4 sample may be referable to the ligand-to-metal charge transfer mechanism. In the near-infrared (NIR) region, the absorption of CoWO 4 and MnWO 4 primarily originated from the d-d orbital transitions of Mn2+ and Co2+. The photocatalytic experimental results showed that the degradation rates for bisphenol A (BPA) over CoWO 4 , MnWO 4 , and CdWO 4 photocatalysts under UV–Vis/NIR light irradiation for 140 min/12 h were 78.8 %/75.9 %, 23.8 %/21.3 %, 12.8 %/8.7 %, respectively. This research offers the novel insights into the precise construction of tungstate catalytic systems and contributes to the advancement of UV–Vis–NIR full spectrum photocatalytic technology, and lays a foundation for a cleaner and more environmental-friendly future. In this paper we report the microwave assisted synthesis and characterization of a family of Na−Ln coordination polymers (CPs) of formula [NaDy2(MeCOO)2(SALOH)5(chpH)2] (1Ln, Ln=Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Y). The Na+ cations isolate Ln2 units in a one‐dimensional polymer. By changing the lanthanoid ions, we attain Single Molecule Magnet properties (1Dy), luminescent properties (1Eu, 1Tb, 1Ho), a diamagnetic material (1Y) and a material that presents magnetocaloric effect (1Gd). In this paper, we report a two-dimensional (2D) Hofmann-type spin-crossover coordination polymer [FeII(o-NTrz)2PtII(CN)4]·H2O (o-NTrz = 4-(o-nitrobenzyl)imino-1,2,4-triazole). Due to the remarkable configurational flexibility of triazole-based ligand, the porous structure of this compound can be reversibly regulated by the loss of guest water molecules as a consequence of rotation of o-NTrz. The 180° reorientation of the o-nitrobenzyl moiety not only induces a response of gate-closing/opening of the porous framework but also significantly modulates the spin transition temperature. Polar cyano fragments and their isomeric isocyano counterparts have attracted great attention as stimuli-responsive luminescent materials in a wide range of fields including organic light-emitting diode devices, chemical fluorescent sensors, photoelectric semiconductors, anti-counterfeit products, etc., mainly because of their typical electron-deficient activity, noncovalent recognition ability, and variable coordination capacity. The electron-deficient and polar nature of these blocks have significant effects on the properties of the cyano/isocyano-based luminophore materials, especially concerning their condensed state-dependent electronic structures. Among them, donor–acceptor (D–A) derived unimolecular and co-assembled luminophores have attracted more attention because their large delocalized structures and noncovalent interaction recognition sites can rebuild the electronic transfer character in the aggregative state, thus endowing them with outstanding stimuli-responsive luminescent behavior via intermolecular and intramolecular charge transfer in polytropic morphologies. In this perspective paper, we give a brief introduction on stimuli-responsive organic and coordinated luminophores and the documented typical design concepts and applications in recent years. It is expected that this perspective article will not only summarize the recent developments of polar cyano/isocyano-derived luminophores and their coordination compounds via structural tailoring and self-assembly but also throw light on the future of the design of more sophisticated stimuli-responsive architectures and their versatile properties. In this paper, we prepared the supramolecular polymers (MWCNT-APP-s) with a dual energy storage mechanism as the electrode materials by the coordination of four transition metal ions with the small molecule chelator (APP) and functionalized carbon nanotubes, respectively. Among four MWCNT-APP-s, MWCNT-APP-Fe has the characteristics of moderate micropore/mesopore, significant hydrophobicity, redox property and functional groups. Interestingly, the redox reaction of Fe3+/Fe2+ and -C N-/-C N- transformation give MWCNT-APP-Fe an energy storage basis of pseudocapacitance, while MWCNTs and the micro/mesopore structure in MWCNT-APP-Fe provide a double-layer energy storage platform. As expected, on base of the dual energy storage mechanism, the symmetric supercapacitor assembled with MWCNT-APP-Fe has a higher specific capacity (Cs, 421 F g−1 at 1 mV s−1) as well as a long-lasting stability of 94.8% capacity retention with 99% Coulombic efficiency after 10,000 cycles at 20 mV s−1. More notably, the relevant aqueous Zn2+ hybrid supercapacitor provides a high capacity (Cm) of 191 mAh g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 and a long duration of over 2000 cycles at 50 A g−1, with a capacity retention of 92.4%. Urease may rapidly hydrolyze urea, causing a significant amount of ammonia to be released and decreasing the efficacy of urea fertilizers. However, urease inhibitors (UIs) can prevent the interaction between urease and urea, allowing crops to absorb ammonium nitrogen for an extended period of time. In this paper, by using different O-donor second auxiliary ligands, we have designed and synthesized two Cu-based coordination polymers (Cu-CPs) to operate as UIs by combining two aromatic carboxylic acids and a bis-pyridine-bis-amide ligand, which show excellent urease inhibitory activity. Cu-CP-1 has an obvious inhibitory effect on the inhibitory activity against jack bean urease, with the IC50 of 1 being 0.83 ± 0.01 μM while the IC50 value for Cu-CP-2 was 2.53 ± 0.01 μM, respectively. Furthermore, inhibitory activity against urease, kinetics, molecular docking, and comparisons of the title Cu-CPs and other complex-based materials have been comprehensively investigated. More importantly, the bridging atoms of μ2-OH and μ2-Cl play important roles in urease inhibition activity. In this paper, a new three-dimensional network coordination polymer {[Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2·2H2O]·3H2O}n [[[(1:1′:4′,1″-terphenyl)-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylic cobalt (II)] dipyridine dihydrate] trihydrate] (Complex 1) was generated under solvothermal synthesis by rigid conjugated ligand H4TPTC ([1:1′:4′,1″-terphengl]-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylic), V-shaped BPDPE (4,4′-bis (pyridyl) diphenyl ether) and Co(II) ion. In complex 1, the neighboring Co(II) ions are linked by deprotonated TPTC4- to achieve a 1D zigzag chain [Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2]n, then the adjacent [Co(TPTC)(HBPDPE)2]n chains linked each other by various H-bondings to extend the structure from 1D chain to 3D network. Complex 1 has excellent fluorescence sensing performance and exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity for detecting 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP), the quenching constant Ksv is up to 2.08 × 105 M−1 along with the correlation coefficient R2 of 0.993. Furthermore, the quench mechanisms of this Co-MOF as a sensor to detect nitro- aromatic explosives were studied as well. In this paper, carbon-matrix-supported copper (Cu) and cobaltous oxide (CoO) nanoparticles were obtained by using coordination polymers (CPs) as a precursor. The aqueous solutions of copper methacrylate (CuMA) and cobalt methacrylate (CoMA) were preferentially prepared, which were then mixed with anhydrous ethanol to fabricate dual metal ion coordination polymers (CuMA/CoMA). After calcination under an argon atmosphere, the Cu-CoO/C nanocomposite was obtained. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the material has banded morphology, and the dual functional nanoparticles were highly dispersed in the carbon matrix. The prepared material was used in a heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction, with the aim of replacing traditional ferric catalysts to solve pH constraints and the mass production of ferric slime. The obtained nanocomposite showed excellent catalytic performance on the degradation of methylene blue (MB) at near-neutral conditions; the discoloration efficiency is about 98.5% within 50 min in the presence of 0.15 mmol/mL H2O2 and 0.5 mg/mL catalyst. The key to obtain supercapacitors with high energy density is rational design and synthesis of negative electrode materials. Herein, a new type of polyoxometalate‐based coordination polymer was prepared by one‐step hydrothermal method. Polymer 1 with honeycomb two‐dimensional network structure is beneficial to improve electrical conductivity and storage capacity because of its π‐π stacking interaction. Ti3C2Tx, an MXene material with excellent electrical conductivity, was mixed with compound 1, which has rich redox reactions. As expected, 1@Ti3C2Tx exhibited outstanding specific capacitance (768.7 F g−1 at 8 A g−1), which is superior to many materials. In addition, the hybrid material also showed good cycle stability (88.1 % capacity retention after 1000 cycles). This work provides an effective way to develop hybrid electrode materials based on polyoxometalate‐based coordination polymers as supercapacitors. In addition, using 1@Ti3C2Tx as the negative electrode material and celery leaf carbon paper as the positive electrode material, the asymmetric supercapacitor device is fabricated. [Display omitted] A selenoantimonate (C 4 H 14 N 2) 0.5 Cu 2 SbSe 3 (1) (C 4 H 12 N 2 = 1, 4-butanediamine) was synthesized by solvothermal synthesis using 1, 4-butanediamine as solvent. By single-crystal X-ray diffraction, compound 1 has a two-dimensional (2-D) layered structure composed of a protonated organic amine [(C 4 H 14 N 2) 0.5 ]+ and an anionic layer [Cu 2 SbSe 3 ]- containing the 6-membered rings (6-MR) Cu 2 SbSe 3 and the 10-membered rings (10-MR) Cu 3 Sb 2 Se 5. Solid-state UV-diffuse reflectance analysis showed that 1 has a band gap value of 1.85 eV, indicating its potential semiconducting properties. This paper studied the photodegradation properties of selenoantimonate containing the transition metal Cu for the first time, and found that its degradation rate methylene blue (MB) was 68.5 %. [Display omitted] • A novel coordination architecture, {[Co(toua)(4,4′-bpy)].2H 2 O} n (1), constructed using an unexplored polyether carboxylate linker (3,6,9-trioxaundecanedioic acid) and 4,4′-bipyridine. • 1 demonstrated dual sensing capabilities, employing both vapochromic and photoluminescence methods, for detecting ammonia and various amines. • 1 demonstrated the ability to selectively detect ammonia and amine vapors, with eye-detectable color changes and varying response times. • Notably, 1 exhibited a rare occurrence of both "turn-off" and "turn-on" sensing behaviors. This work presents the design, synthesis, and characterization of a new cobalt (II) based coordination architecture, {[Co(toua)(4,4′-bpy)].2H 2 O} n (1); where toua is 3,6,9-trioxaundecanaote and 4,4′-bpy is 4,4′-bipyridine tailored for efficient sensing of ammonia and amines. The formation and identity of 1 was confirmed by elemental analysis, spectroscopic study (FTIR and UV–visible spectroscopy), PXRD, XPS, FESEM, and BET analysis. The colorimetric sensing capability of 1 towards ammonia and various smaller-sized amines in the vapor phase through observable color changes is explored in this study. Their interaction with 1 is elucidated through FTIR, UV–Visible and Fluorescence spectroscopy, FESEM, and TCSPC analysis. The fluorescence sensing experiments demonstrate a remarkable quenching/enhancement effect with the addition of ammonia and various amines, showcasing the compound's sensitivity and selectivity. The quenching/enhancement efficiency follows the order: NH 3 >Ethylenediamine (EDA)>1,3-diaminopropane (DAP)>n-propylethylenediamine (n-PEDA), following the molecular dimensions and steric hindrance surrounding nitrogen atoms. Hydrogen bonds and host-guest interactions, including (C–H)pyridinium⋅⋅⋅N interactions, are identified as the driving forces for the sensing process. Additionally, the paper reveals a rare occurrence of both "turn-off" and "turn-on" sensing behavior for the same compound, showcasing its versatility. The calculated RSD for the fluorometric sensor was found to be 1.03 % calculated from its triplicate readings at 240 nm. Limits of detection (LODs) and Limit of Quantification (LOQs) for NH 3 (0.52 μM, and 1.74 μM) EDA (1.2 μM, and 4.2 μM), DAP (3.1 μM, and 10.5 μM), and n-PEDA (3.3 μM, and 11.2 μM) respectively) underscore the effective sensing capabilities of 1. Microplastic (MP) residues in marine have become an increasingly serious environmental pollution issue, and in recent years the detection of MPs in marine started to attract worldwide research interests. Optical-fiber-based environmental sensors have been extensively employed for their several merits such as high sensitivity, pressure resistance, compactness and ease of constructing communication networks. However, fiber-optic refractive index sensors are not specifically developed for distinguishing MPs from other inorganic particles suspended in water. In this paper, an metal-organic framework (MOF) ZIF-8 functionalized S-tapered fiber (STF) sensor is proposed for specific detection of polystyrene nanoplastics (PSNPs) in aqueous environment. ZIF-8 coordination nanoporous polymers with different film thickness were immobilized over the surface of the fabricated STF structure based on self-growth technique and yielding a large surface area over the sensor surface. High sensitivity detection can be achieved by converting the concentration perturbation of PSNPs into evanescent waves over the ZIF-8 functionalized STF surface through the strong electrostatic adsorption effect and π-π stacking, while the fabricated sensor is insensitive to gravels with silica as the primary component in water. It is found that the proposed detector with 18 film layers achieves a sensitivity up to 114.1353nm/%(w/v) for the PSNPs concentration range of 0.01 %(w/v) to 0.08 %(w/v).
