Despite reservations over the status of esports as sports, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has, for policy reasons, encouraged International Federations to pursue links with providers of 'virtual and simulated' sports, in part by the introduction of an event, the Olympic Virtual Series, first held in 2021. In providing an account of 'virtuality' and 'simulation', we query the theoretical basis of the Olympic Virtual Series. In particular, we query the IOC's use of the term 'virtual' in the description of two very different activities: what it calls 'physical virtual sports' (which we argue are simply Olympic-type sports – real sports! – and should just be called 'sports') and 'non-physical virtual sports' (which we argue are not sports at all, and should be recognized for what they are – computer games). In order to study the forming mechanism of metal jet under electromagnetic loading, numerical simulation for electromagnetic coupled jet forming was realized by using AUTODYN software with secondary development. Through secondary development, the magnetic pressure on the liner during the collapse process is calculated iteratively, which enables numerical simulation for electromagnetically coupled jets. The influence and threshold condition of electromagnetic parameters for jet forming are obtained through this. The results show that the head velocity and length of the jet are improved for liner without a tip. The electromagnetic parameters and structural parameters need to match with each other. The head velocity and effective length of the jet increase with the increase in wall thickness and cone angle. The liner diameter has little effect on the head velocity and effective length of the jet. Within the frame of this work, a user-friendly MATLAB program for the simulation of signals and electronic noise at the nuclear radiation readout system was developed. Signal and noise in terms of equivalent noise charge (ENC) have been evaluated. Five noise sources were considered in order to have high simulation accuracy. The role and influence of different parameters of the readout circuits on the output signal and noise were predicted and illustrated. Moreover, the effect of all elementary parameters of each noise source on the ENC was taken into consideration. Since the energy resolution is affected by the electronic noise expressed by ENC, the obtained simulation results help to select the most feasible concept and parameters for a real system having a minimal noise effect. Using the program, several examples of the effect of those parameters on different ENC contributions related to the noise sources have been analyzed and discussed in detail. Aim: To provide insights into the optimal use of virtual reality (VR) in nursing education by evaluating pre-registration nursing students' experiences in conducting holistic patient assessments while interacting with artificial intelligence (AI)-led patients. Specifically, this project evaluation compares the use of two different VR scenarios, one employing a menu-based interface and another using AI voice-controlled technology. Methods: Eleven pre-registration adult nursing students from two UK universities were selected through purposeful sampling to participate in the two VR simulations. Data collection and analysis: This included qualitative insights gathered from three focus group sessions, audio-recorded and thematically analysed to classify and describe students' experiences. Findings: Four key themes emerged: technological literacy, VR as a learning tool, the road of learning, and transition to independence. Advantages across both methods of VR-AI interaction and their particular challenges were identified and described for each key theme. Conclusion: VR with AI-led patient technology in pre-registration nursing education positively contributes to the curriculum by exposing students to problem-based learning situations and use of a multiplicity of skills in a safe environment. Although both methods are relevant for developing proficiencies around holistic patient assessment, there are advantages and limitations to each. Students perceived the voice-controlled technology as more intuitive with a more natural method of communication, whereas the menu-based interaction gave students more structure and guidance. Translation abstract Lightweight ceiling elements made of carbon‐reinforced concreteIn concrete components under bending, a large proportion of the material used is underutilized. More material efficiency can be achieved, e. g., by resolving the solid interior of such components. In the presented project, this is realized by load‐bearing filigree carbon‐reinforced concrete membranes. At first, in the article, the method of producing such filigree structures by casting under negative air pressure is briefly explained and the material properties achieved in standard tests are discussed. Then, the design of two 1.8 m × 1.8 m large slabs and their load‐bearing behavior in 9‐point bending tests are described and compared with numerical simulations. Flow field regulation plays an important role in the optimization of column flotation units with agitation function. This paper aims to discuss the regulating effect of baffle design on the flow field in stirred column flotation units by numerical simulation. A series of geometric models of changing baffle structure and layout were established, and detailed flow field simulation analysis was carried out by using COMSOL software. The results show that the internal flow field of the traditional standard cylindrical tank will cause the solid particles to adhere to the wall movement and the bubbles to the middle area, resulting in the uneven distribution of particles and bubbles, and the internal flow field is not conducive to the mineralization process and the stability of the foam layer. This limitation can be significantly improved by introducing baffles. The results show different baffle shapes and layouts are as follows: wide and narrow on top, narrow on the bottom and wide on top, and only arranged at the bottom of the column body, can increase the average turbulent kinetic energy in the collision zone by 22%, 46% and 43%, and the average turbulent dissipation rate by 18%, 43% and 36%, respectively, while maintaining the turbulence intensity in the transport zone. Among them, the baffle plate with wide top and narrow bottom has the best effect. Arranging baffles with a length shorter than 2/3 of the height of the cylinder at the upper part inside the cylinder can also enhance the turbulence intensity in the collision zone, but at the same time, it also increases the turbulence intensity in the transport zone. Moreover, as the length of the baffle decreases, the enhancement effect becomes stronger. Since this method significantly affects the transport zone, it is more suitable for columnar mixing devices. The study also reveals that by adjusting the proportion of wide and narrow baffles, the center of the turbulent region can be laterally shifted to the short baffles, and the flow field distribution can be adjusted. Meanwhile, with the increase in the number of long baffles, the intensity of the flow field in the device will gradually decrease. By moving the center of the turbulent region to the side inlet, the particle dispersion can be accelerated, but in general, the particles will accumulate toward the region with lower turbulence intensity. These findings have important guiding significance for the design and optimization of the flow field of the stirred column flotation unit, which is helpful in improving the agitation uniformity and flotation efficiency. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) have played an important role in modern factories or warehouses, replacing traditional conveyor-based sorting systems due to their flexibility and scalability. However, existing works on AGV sorting systems primarily focus on improving performance from mechanical perspectives or network optimization for routing design. There is a lack of discussion on how to provide a holistic assignment strategy that considers not only the assignment at the sorting area but also the impact of traffic flow from upstream stations in the system. This study introduces a novel two-stage optimization model for AGV sorting systems in central fill pharmacies, implemented via discrete-event simulation and a simulation-based heuristic algorithm. The methodology is based on a detailed analysis of the sorting system layout, assessing performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, utilization, and cycle time, complemented by a sensitivity analysis regarding the number of AGVs. Operational implications include improved assignment strategies that enhance overall system efficiency, reduced cycle time, and optimized resource utilization. Power metallurgy hot isostatic pressing (PM-HIP), as a versatile manufacturing process, can produce net-shape or near-net-shape components with complicated geometries from materials that are not easily cast, deformed, or welded. In PM-HIP, capsule (or die) filling is a critical step to get dimensionally and microstructurally sound outputs. Particularly, capsule filling controls the initial relative density (homogeneity) of the PM-HIP compact. In this study, the pre-consolidation capsule filling process is simulated by the discrete element method (DEM), to capture the impact of vibration parameters, including the vibration frequency, amplitude, duration, and direction, on the initial relative density (RD). The output of the DEM model was imported into a user subroutine-based finite element of PM-HIP containing a combined constitutive model of compressive and consolidative mechanical behavior of powder. The simulation model was used to quantitatively study the relationships between the vibration parameters and the initial RD of the product. The ultimate results of this work have shown an optimal vibration frequency for maximizing the initial density. An asymmetric system consisting of two coupled radio frequency superconducting quantum interference devices (RF-SQUIDs) with general geometry as nonlinear macroscopic system with mutual inductance under the influence of a time-dependent external field has been investigated numerically. Due to the importance of mutual induction in the construction of such nonlinear asymmetric systems, the dependence of coupling coefficient on the frequency changes, the primary and secondary resonance amplitudes and also the anti-resonances in both squids have been investigated. By changing the geometry of the arrangement of squids, the dynamic behavior parameters of the system have been studied. Coke calcination is a process that involves heating green petroleum coke to purify it and eliminate volatile materials for subsequent processing. Due to the complexity of the rotary kiln used in this process, conducting experimental studies can be challenging and restricted. However, quantitative analyses based on developed models can provide a foundation for optimizing and controlling the process, which can significantly enhance the design efficiency. A three-dimensional simulation model of a rotary calcining kiln for petroleum coke was created using COMSOL Multiphysics in a steady-state mode. This model accounted for all relevant physical and chemical phenomena in the gas stream and coke bed flow, including heat transfer, combustion, and the evolution of volatile matter and coke dust. The mathematical modeling yielded distributions of temperature and mass fractions within the kiln, as well as the velocity field. The results revealed two distinct peak temperatures in the gas phase: 1,780 K near the primary air injection point and 1,605 K near the tertiary air injection points. The findings were analyzed, and the impact of key variables was explored. The simulation data indicated that for every decrease of 10–15 m/s in air flow, the gas peak temperature dropped by approximately 100°. Additionally, an increase in the input oxygen concentration led to enhanced combustion, resulting in higher peak concentrations of CO2. Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) is driven by multiple motors for loading and unloading the items (z-axis) onto the fork or stacker, then moving the items horizontally (x-axis) and vertically (y-axis) at a time. Thus, it is practical to determine the speed configuration for each movement. To be responsive, it is reasonable to set the speed as fast as possible. However, high speed leads to high energy consumption which is undesirable in the context of green warehousing. Given that the speed changes dynamically, it is important to have an advanced optimization model for balancing both objectives and providing accurate estimation. This study proposed metamodel-based simulation–optimization (MSO) allowing to jointly optimize four speed-related variables namely horizontal speed (x), vertical speed (y), fork or depth speed (z), and acceleration/deceleration under the dynamicity of AS/RS. A case study was given in a warehouse comprising five cranes and ten racks. Using Desirability Function Analysis, the optimal speed configuration is obtained efficiently for minimizing travel time and energy consumption of AS/RS. The result also shows that row-based storage provides better responsiveness and energy efficiency than random-based storage. This study proposes a framework of an urban passenger-and-package sharing (PPS) system that utilizes e-hailing taxis to transport packages in addition to passengers. We examine the interactions between stakeholders and highlight the role of the pricing strategy in the system, including passenger fare discounts and driver incentives for PPS trips. Higher discounts and incentives stimulate more passengers and taxi drivers, respectively, to participate in the PPS system but possibly limit the profit of the service provider. A multi-agent simulation model is developed to analyze the influences of the pricing strategy on the behaviors of the service provider, passengers, and taxi drivers. The real-world case study demonstrates that the service provider, passengers, and taxi drivers benefit from different combinations of the passenger fare discounts and driver incentives. The pricing strategy could be set up to produce the system optimal (SO) situation that maximizes the total benefit, or win-win situations that simultaneously benefit all stakeholders—the service provider gains a higher profit, passengers enjoy lower travel costs, and taxi drivers have higher incomes when compared to the traditional e-hailing taxi system. Infectious diseases have caused enormous disasters in human society, and asymptomatic carriers are an important challenge in our epidemic prevention and control process. Nucleic acid testing has played an important role in rapid testing for asymptomatic individuals. How to carry out nucleic acid testing in a scientific manner is a practical problem encountered in normal production and life. Based on the real COVID-19 epidemic data from Shanghai, we established a susceptible-exposed-infected-asymptomatic-recovered-death (SEIARD) dynamic model. The least squares method was used to fit the data and estimate the unknown parameters β and E(0) in the model, and MATLAB software was employed to simulate the development of the epidemic. The data fitting results indicated that the SEIARD model can better describe the early development patterns of the epidemic (R2 = 0.98; MAPE = 2.54%). We calculated the basic reproduction number of the Shanghai epidemic as R0 = 2.86. As the frequency of nucleic acid testing increased, the basic reproduction number R0 continued to decrease. When there is one latent carrier and one asymptomatic carrier in the nucleic acid testing team, the number of queues is directly proportional to the number of infected individuals, the nucleic acid testing team increases by 50 people, and the number of new asymptomatic cases increases by approximately 4 people. If both susceptible individuals (S) and asymptomatic patients (A) are not wearing masks, the infection rate reaches approximately 7%; after wearing masks, the final infection rate is less than 1% at 1.5 m between two people. The queue spacing is inversely proportional to the number of infected individuals. With a distance of d = 1 m, a nucleic acid testing team of 100 people added 8% of the infected individuals; when d = 1.5 m, fewer than 2% of the newly infected individuals. The results confirmed that controlling the queue size for nucleic acid testing, strictly wearing masks, and maintaining a queue spacing of more than 1.5 m are safe and effective nucleic acid testing strategies. Background: Evaluating outcome reliability is critical in real-world evidence studies. Overall survival is a common outcome in these studies; however, its capture in real-world data (RWD) sources is often incomplete and supplemented with linked mortality information from external sources. Conflicting recommendations exist for censoring overall survival in real-world evidence studies. This simulation study aimed to understand the impact of different censoring methods on estimating median survival and log hazard ratios when external mortality information is partially captured. Methods: We used Monte Carlo simulation to emulate a non-randomized comparative effectiveness study of two treatments with RWD from electronic health records and linked external mortality data. We simulated the time to death, the time to last database activity, and the time to data cutoff. Death events after the last database activity were attributed to linked external mortality data and randomly set to missing to reflect the sensitivity of contemporary real-world data sources. Two censoring schemes were evaluated: (1) censoring at the last activity date and (2) censoring at the end of data availability (data cutoff) without an observed death. We assessed the performance of each method in estimating median survival and log hazard ratios using bias, coverage, variance, and rejection rate under varying amounts of incomplete mortality information and varying treatment effects, length of follow-up, and sample size. Results: When mortality information was fully captured, median survival estimates were unbiased when censoring at data cutoff and underestimated when censoring at the last activity. When linked mortality information was missing, censoring at the last activity date underestimated the median survival, while censoring at the data cutoff overestimated it. As missing linked mortality information increased, bias decreased when censoring at the last activity date and increased when censoring at data cutoff. Conclusions: Researchers should consider the completeness of linked external mortality information when choosing how to censor the analysis of overall survival using RWD. Substantial bias in median survival estimates can occur if an inappropriate censoring scheme is selected. In this study, an ordinary-deterministic equation system modeling the spread dynamics of malware under mutation is analyzed with fractional derivatives and random variables. The original model is transformed into a system of fractional-random differential equations (FRDEs) using Caputo fractional derivatives. Normally distributed random variables are defined for the parameters of the original system that are related to the mutations and infections of the nodes in the network. The resulting system of FRDEs is simulated using the predictor-corrector method based fde12 algorithm and the forward fractional Euler method (ffEm) for various values of the model components such as the standard deviations, orders of derivation, and repetition numbers. Additionally, the sensitivity analysis of the original model is investigated in relation to the random nature of the components and the basic reproduction number ( R 0 ) to underline the correspondence of random dynamics and sensitivity indices. Both the normalized forward sensitivity indices (NFSI) and the standard deviation of R 0 with random components give matching results for analyzing the changes in the spread rate. Theoretical results are backed by the simulation outputs on the numerical characteristics of the fractional-random model for the expected number of infections and mutations, expected timing of the removal of mutations from the network, and measurement of the variability in the results such as the coefficients of variation. Comparison of the results from the original model and the fractional-random model shows that the fractional-random analysis provides a more generalized perspective while facilitating a versatile investigation with ease and can be used on different models as well. Objective Methods Results Conclusion The purpose of the present study was to assess the benefits of simulation for advancing knowledge and assisting healthcare staff in optimization of procedures when managing severe pre‐eclampsia/eclampsia (sPE/E).A randomized educational trial was conducted with two groups: Group I received theoretical training, while group II received the same training along with simulation scenarios based on the management of sPE/E. The study involved 199 healthcare providers, including physicians, midwives, skilled birth attendants, and nurses. The study analyzed the percentage of correct answers on both the multiple‐choice questions (MCQ) and the objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE) to evaluate theoretical knowledge and clinical skills objectively.Statistically significant differences were found immediately after training between groups I and II, whose mean percentages were 65.0% (±11.2) versus 71.0% (±9.8) (P < 0.001). A statistically significant reduction in the percentage of correct answers was found in both groups and demonstrated a discrepancy between immediate post‐training test and post‐training test at 3 months scores of 11.6% (±1.3) in group I versus 7.2% (±0.6) in group II. OSCE1 and OSCE2 scores were significantly higher in group II than in group I (P < 0.001).Simulation combined with theoretical training would appear to be an interesting method of training for advancing knowledge and improving skills of healthcare providers in their management of sPE/E. The hydrogen fuel free-piston engine (FPE) is an ideal onboard power device for new energy vehicles due to its multiple advantages, including better fuel adaptability. However, the periodic cyclic variations of FPE pose a significant challenge in controlling its stable operation. To address this issue, a secondary fuel injection (SFI) control strategy based on the inner dead center (IDC) has been designed. It categorizes and manages IDC by exploring the relationship between different positions of IDC and IMEP. The controller calculates the SFI quantity to control the IMEP and reduce cycle fluctuations effectively based on the classification results and the difference between the current IMEP and the target value. In practice, a rapid simulation combustion control model based on the prototype was established to validate the effectiveness of the control strategy. After implementing active control, IMEP achieved the step response to the target value in just one cycle instantaneously, and the variation range stabilized from 0.3 bar to 0.1 bar. The degree of fluctuation in the PV curve of FPE significantly decreases before and after control, indicating more stable FPE operation. The results demonstrate that this control strategy can effectively achieve precise IMEP control and reduce cycle variations. Recent advances in single atom catalysts (SACs) have demonstrated significant potential for enhancing catalytic performance in various chemical reactions due to their unique properties, such as maximized atom utilization, uniform active sites, and lower metal loading. These advantages lead to enhanced catalytic activity, stability, and efficiency, making SACs a promising alternative to traditional catalysts. This review comprehensively covers the fundamentals, synthesis methods, and recent advances in applications of SACs for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), with a particular focus on their advantages over traditional catalysts, detailing novel carrier materials and different metal-based SACs, including platinum group elements and nonprecious metals. The discussion section evaluates the catalytic activity, efficiency, stability, scalability, and simulation aspects of SACs. Concluding with insights into future research directions, this review highlights the transformative potential of SACs in catalysis and their promising outlook for future advancements. At the catalytic decomposition of methane, along with hydrogen, it is possible to obtain carbon nanofibers. The addition of hydrogen to the initial reaction mixture makes it possible to increase significantly the efficiency of the overall process by minimizing the contribution of the catalyst deactivation process caused by coking. As found, the maximum yields of hydrogen and nanostructured carbon over the NiO–CuO/Al 2 O 3 catalyst is achieved at an inlet hydrogen concentration of 13 vol%. The accumulated carbon is represented by well-structured carbon nanofibers, which are resistant to the gasification reaction. The original stacked structure is preserved after the treatment of these fibers in a hydrogen medium. Using numerical methods, the hydrogen productivity at 610 °C was found to be 49.3 mL/(mg cat ·h) at an optimal value of the residence time of 5 × 10−3 s. Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein is an ion channel found in numerous epithelia and controls the flow of water and salt across the epithelium. The aim of our study to find natural compounds that can improve lung function for people with cystic fibrosis (CF) caused by the p.Gly628Arg (rs397508316) mutation of CFTR protein. The sequence of CFTR protein as a target structure was retrieved from UniProt and PDB database. The ligands that included Armepavine, Osthole, Curcumin, Plumbagine, Quercetin, and one Trikafta (R*) reference drug were screened out from PubChem database. Autodock vina software carried out docking, and binding energies between the drug and the target were included using docking-score. The following tools examined binding energy, interaction, stability, toxicity, and visualize protein-ligand complexes. The compounds having binding energies of −6.4, −5.1, −6.6, −5.1, and − 6.5 kcal/mol for Armepavine, Osthole, Curcumin, Plumbagine, Quercetin, and R*-drug, respectively with mutated CFTR (Gly628Arg) structure were chosen as the most promising ligands. The ligands bind to the mutated CFTR protein structure active sites in hydrophobic bonds, hydrogen bonds, and electrostatic interactions. According to ADMET analyses, the ligands Armepavine and Quercetin also displayed good pharmacokinetic and toxicity characteristics. An MD simulation for 200 ns was also established to ensure that Armepavine and Quercetin ligands attached to the target protein favorably and dynamically, and that protein-ligand complex stability was maintained. It is concluded that Armepavine and Quercetin have stronger capacity to inhibit the effect of mutated CFTR protein through improved trafficking and restoration of original function. Background: The technical complexity and limited casuistry of neonatal surgical pathology limit the possibilities of developing the necessary technical competencies by specialists in training. Esophageal atresia constitutes the paradigm of this problem. The use of synthetic 3D models for training is a promising line of research, although the literature is limited. Methods: We conceptualized, designed, and produced an anatomically realistic model for the open correction of type III oesophageal atresia. We validated it with two groups of participants (experts and non-experts) through face, construct, and content-validity questionnaires. Results: The model was validated by nine experts and nine non-experts. The mean procedure time for the experts and non-experts groups was 34.0 and 38.4 min, respectively. Two non-experts did not complete the procedure at the designed time (45 min). Regarding the face validity questionnaire, the mean rating of the model was 3.2 out of 4. Regarding the construct validity, we found statistically significant differences between groups for the equidistance between sutures, 100% correct in the expert group vs. 42.9% correct in the non-expert group (p = 0.02), and for the item "Confirms that tracheoesophageal fistula closure is watertight before continuing the procedure", correctly assessed by 66.7% of the experts vs. by 11.1% of non-experts (p = 0.05). Concerning content validity, the mean score was 3.3 out of 4 for the experts and 3.4 out of 4 for the non-experts. Conclusions: The present model is a cost-effective, simple-to-produce, and validated option for training open correction of type III esophageal atresia. Proper and timely characterization of the safety profile of a pharmaceutical product under development is imperative for assessing the overall benefit-risk relationship of the product and for making key development decisions. For ongoing clinical development, a comprehensive and robust safety monitoring and safety signal detection program which is based upon quantitative statistical reasoning is critical. Methods presented here can be applied to safety signal detection and periodic safety monitoring. Various statistical properties, distributions, and models, all utilizing a Bayesian framework are considered and further examined in order to identify robust methods applicable to a broad set of scenarios and situations. Methods developed for incidence counts (including those with under-dispersed distributions) with variable time-at-risk and with underlying constant or non-constant hazard rates, are proposed and compared to traditional methods designed to assess adverse event incidence rates or binomial incidence proportions (which assume an underlying constant hazard rate and subsequent Poisson distribution for modeling event counts). ABSTRACT Hypothetical strategy is a common strategy for handling intercurrent events (IEs). No current guideline or study considers treatment–IE interaction to target the estimand in any one IE‐handling strategy. Based on the hypothetical strategy, we aimed to (1) assess the performance of three estimators with different considerations for the treatment–IE interaction in a simulation and (2) compare the estimation of these estimators in a real trial. Simulation data were generalized based on realistic clinical trials of Alzheimer's disease. The estimand of interest was the effect of treatment with no IE occurring under the hypothetical strategy. Three estimators, namely, G‐estimation with and without interaction and IE‐ignored estimation, were compared in scenarios where the treatment–IE interaction effect was set as −50% to 50% of the main effect. Bias was the key performance measure. The real case was derived from a randomized trial of methadone maintenance treatment. Only G‐estimation with interaction exhibited unbiased estimations regardless of the existence, direction or magnitude of the treatment–IE interaction in those scenarios. Neglecting the interaction and ignoring the IE would introduce a bias as large as 0.093 and 0.241 (true value, −1.561) if the interaction effect existed. In the real case, compared with G‐estimation with interaction, G‐estimation without interaction and IE‐ignored estimation increased the estimand of interest by 33.55% and 34.36%, respectively. This study highlights the importance of considering treatment–IE interaction in the estimand framework. In practice, it would be better to include the interaction in the estimator by default. Cryo-adsorptive hydrogen storage exhibits high hydrogen storage density and low storage pressure, rendering it highly promising. Among various adsorption materials, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) stand out as promising materials for cryo-adsorptive hydrogen storage. However, current research has problems of low research pressure and limited hydrogen storage density, which hinder the widespread application of cryo-adsorptive hydrogen storage. In this work, the gravimetric and volumetric hydrogen storage densities of different cryo-adsorptive hydrogen storage tanks are simulated and predicted in the pressure range of 0.1–55 MPa at 77 K. Nine kinds of COFs are selected as adsorbents for cryo-adsorptive hydrogen storage. The modified Dubinin-Astakhov (D-A) model is used to simulate the hydrogen adsorption isotherms. The relevant model parameters of COFs are nonlinearly fitted and then validated for reliability. The results indicate that under specific conditions, 3D COFs can achieve hydrogen storage density comparable to liquid hydrogen at relatively lower pressures, exhibiting excellent cryo-adsorptive hydrogen storage performance with promising application prospects. • CcH 2 combined with adsorption can reach higher density with lower pressure. • COFs adsorption performance simulation in a wide pressure range at 77 K. • COF-108 plays a negative role when exceeds the specific pressure (19 MPa at 77 K). • COFs can significantly improve the density of CcH 2 in a wide range. Intermediate wheatgrass (IWG) is a perennial grass that produces nutritious grain while offering substantial ecosystem services. Commercial varieties of this crop are mostly synthetic panmictic populations that are developed by intermating a few selected individuals. As development and generation advancement of these synthetic populations is a multiyear process, earlier synthetic generations are tested by the breeders and subsequent generations are released to the growers. A comparison of generations within IWG synthetic cultivars is currently lacking. In this study, we used simulation models and genomic prediction to analyze population differences and trends of genetic variance in 4 synthetic generations of MN-Clearwater, a commercial cultivar released by the University of Minnesota. Little to no differences were observed among the 4 generations for population genetic, genetic kinship, and genome-wide marker relationships measured via linkage disequilibrium. A reduction in genetic variance was observed when 7 parents were used to generate synthetic populations while using 20 led to the best possible outcome in determining population variance. Genomic prediction of plant height, free threshing ability, seed mass, and grain yield among the 4 synthetic generations showed a few significant differences among the generations, yet the differences in values were negligible. Based on these observations, we make 2 major conclusions: (1) the earlier and latter synthetic generations of IWG are mostly similar to each other with minimal differences and (2) using 20 genotypes to create synthetic populations is recommended to sustain ample genetic variance and trait expression among all synthetic generations. Sustainable aviation fuels are a major candidate to reduce pollutant emissions in future aeronautical engines. Recently, the use of hydrogen as a fuel has gained a high interest partly because its combustion is free from carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, and produces few pollutants, mainly nitrogen oxides (NOx). Over the last decades, efforts on numerical methods for combustion simulation in aero-engines have largely been focused on kerosene-air combustion. However, the current transition may have a significant impact on the computational methodologies for combustor design. Hydrogen defines novel modeling issues and challenges the current state of art on numerical methodologies. The current study presents a numerical investigation of a hydrogen-air burner using large-eddy simulations (LES) with a focus on NOx prediction. The considered configuration is a two-staged combustor, similar to the well-known RQL (Rich-Quench-Lean) technology, supplied by a single coaxial injector characterized experimentally. Two combustion models are investigated: (i) tabulated chemistry based on premixed flamelets (ii) transported chemistry description by using a 21-species chemical scheme. Numerical results are compared with experimental data (NOx concentrations, temperature distributions, pressure losses). A focus on model predictions is carried out. Results show a good agreement to predict the main flow characteristics and the premixed flame position over different operating points and geometries for both frameworks. In contrast, NOx emissions are more sensitive: while the overall trend is well captured, the quantification is more scattered. The predictive capability of the lattice-Boltzmann very large eddy simulation (LBM-VLES) methodology was evaluated for industrial gas turbine exhaust diffuser-collector applications. The effort focused on evaluating the accuracy of performance predictions against experimental rig data gathered at engine representative conditions including the Reynolds number, Mach number, and inlet flow conditions. The performance prediction capability of LBM-VLES simulations was also compared against Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulations. Evaluations were completed for two distinct exhaust rig geometries at conditions indicative of their respective design points, and the performance prediction capability was also evaluated at conditions depicting two off-design cases. The off-design conditions were represented by an increase in inlet swirl angle and associated incidence on the diffuser struts. Overall, the authors found that LBM-VLES simulations were a suitable approach for predicting the performance of gas turbine exhaust diffuser-collector systems at both on- and off-design conditions. The LBM-VLES simulation accuracy was substantially better than that achieved by RANS simulations, with 66% lower RMS pressure recovery error between computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and experiments for the four cases studied, and an 89% reduction in error for the furthest off-design case. Wide-bandgap (WBG) perovskite has demonstrated great potential in perovskite-based tandem solar cells. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of such devices has surpassed 34%, signifying a new era for renewable energy development. However, the ion migration reduces the stability and hinders the commercialization, which is yet to be resolved despite many attempts. A big step forward has now been achieved by the simulation method. The detailed thermodynamics and kinetics of the migration process have been revealed for the first time. The stability has been enhanced by more than 100% via the heterojunction layer on top of the WBG perovskite film, which provided extra bonding for kinetic protection. This paper presents a multiple step-stress accelerated life test using type II censoring. Assuming that the lifetimes of the test item follow the gamma distribution, the maximum likelihood estimation and Bayesian approaches are used to estimate the distribution parameters. In the Bayesian approach, new parametrizations can lead to new prior distributions and can be a useful technique to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Bayesian modeling, particularly when dealing with complex or high-dimensional models. Therefore, in this paper, we present two sets of prior distributions for the parameters of the accelerated test where one of them is based on the reparametrization of the other. The performance of the proposed prior distributions and maximum likelihood approach are investigated and compared by examining the summaries and frequentist coverage probabilities of intervals. We introduce the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms to generate samples from the posterior distributions in order to evaluate the estimators and intervals. Simulation has been shown to improve communication and psychometric skills in advanced practice nursing students. Little is known about the impact of a simulation educational intervention with a faculty-facilitated debriefing on the preparation of novice nurse practitioner students for their first clinical practicum. This article describes the development of an educational intervention to accomplish this. The simulation education intervention was implemented with preclinical nurse practitioner students designed to improve their preparation for their first precepted clinical experience. Students were surveyed preintervention and postintervention to explore their self-perception of confidence and preparation for clinicals looking at six domains: health history, physical examination, diagnostics, differentials, final diagnosis, and plan of care. Quantitative results were statistically significant for each domain. Qualitative findings gave deeper insight into the students' perceptions of how the intervention prepared them for clinicals. In modern electric traction, direct current traction motors have been replaced with asynchronous motors with a short-circuited rotor. The justification is that asynchronous motors are more reliable, cheaper, and have smaller weights and dimensions, so they are more sustainable. In order to start and adjust the speed required in traction, these motors are powered from the contact line using a transformer and a static voltage and frequency converter. As a result, you can use green electricity produced with wind power plants or solar energy converted with photovoltaic panels, increasing sustainability because the consumption of traditional fuels is reduced. This paper presents various simulations emphasizing the negative effects of the distorting regime, with concrete results. The quality of the simulations carried out is increased by using a mathematical model, which uses the variable parameters of the motor dependent on the modulation of the current and the magnetic saturation. In modern 1500 kW electric locomotives, the traction motors are powered by static converters, which means an increase in losses when operating at nominal load on the motors by 38.7 kW and 217.8 kVAR compared to the sinusoidal three-phase power supply. Thus, the research carried out provides qualitatively and quantitatively correct simulations of the non-sinusoidal regime related to the asynchronous traction motor in order to increase the sustainability of this traction system. One of the key guidelines in the European waste management policy is the diversion of waste from landfills, preventing harmful effects on human health and the environment and ensuring that economically valuable waste materials are efficiently recycled and reused through proper management. The organic fraction of municipal waste is abundant and contains biodegradable ingredients such lignocellulose, starch, lipids, pectin, and proteins, making it suitable for biotechnological production. Taking into account that a large amount of organic waste is disposed of in landfills, within this work, the amount of organic waste disposed of in the landfill in Banja Luka was considered. Four simulation model scenarios of the integrated production of bioethanol and biogas are generated, and their process and economic aspects are discussed. In the first two modelled scenarios, the pretreatment conditions (1% sulfuric acid and a different neutralization agent) were varied, while in the other two, the share of the amount of raw material used for the production of bioethanol, i.e., biogas, was varied (split factor: 10–90%). The modelled plant, with a designed capacity of 6 tons/h of organic waste, is a significant bioethanol producer, generating 5,000,000 L/year. The profitability indicators, when examined, revealed that dedicating a portion of the organic municipal waste input exclusively to biogas production leads to decreased process efficiency. Based on the modeled process parameters, ethanol's minimum feasible selling price is $0.6616 per liter, while regarding the composition of organic municipal waste, carbohydrates have the most significant impact on the viability of the process. The developed model represents an excellent basis for further development of this integrated bioprocess in such a way that it can be modified with new process parameters or economic or ecological indicators and used at all levels of bioprocess design. Additionally, the obtained sustainable integrated bioethanol and biogas production plant models could support forthcoming steps in municipal waste management by providing reliable data on the conditions under which the integrated process of bioethanol and biogas production would take place, as well as the technical feasibility and economic profitability of such organic municipal waste utilization. In addition to sportswear and outdoor equipment, moisture-absorbent quick-drying fabrics are also widely used in everyday clothing and home textiles. In this study, three types of weft-knitted fabrics were designed using Coolmax fiber and polypropylene fiber. The Coolmax/PP fabric exhibits good stretchability with a strain of 180.5% and achieves a high cumulative individual transfer capability of 691.6%, with a water absorption rate of 50.2%/s. The moisture conductivity gradient presented good moisture and heat conductivity in a simulated human body temperature environment using an infrared camera. Furthermore, mathematical modeling was constructed and visual simulation analysis was conducted to explore moisture–thermal transfer behavior. Additive manufacturing (AM) allows the creation of customized designs for various medical devices, such as implants, casts, and splints. Amongst other AM technologies, fused filament fabrication (FFF) facilitates the production of intricate geometries that are often unattainable through conventional methods like subtractive manufacturing. This study aimed to develop a methodology for substituting a pathological talus bone with a personalized one created using additive manufacturing. The process involved generating a numerical parametric solid model of the specific anatomical region using computed tomography (CT) scans of the corresponding healthy organ from the patient. The healthy talus served as a mirrored template to replace the defective one. Structural simulation of the model through finite element analysis (FEA) helped compare and select different materials to identify the most suitable one for the replacement bone. The implant was then produced using FFF technology. The developed procedure yielded commendable results. The models maintained high geometric accuracy, while significantly reducing the computational time. An understanding of the mechanical behavior of polymeric materials is crucial for making advancements in the applications and efficiency of nanocomposites, and encompasses their service life, load resistance, and overall reliability. The present study focused on the prediction of the mechanical behavior of biopolymeric nanocomposites with nano-clays as the nanoadditives, using a new modeling and simulation method based on Comsol Multiphysics software 6.1. This modeling considered the complex case of flake-shaped nano-clay additives that could form aggregates along the polymeric matrix, varying the nanoadditive thickness, and consequently affecting the resulting mechanical properties of the polymeric nanocomposite. The polymeric matrix investigated was biopolyamide 11 (BIOPA11). Several BIOPA11 samples reinforced with three different contents of nano-clays (0, 3, and 10 wt%), and with three different nano-clay dispersion grades (employing three different extrusion screw configurations) were obtained by the compounding extrusion process. The mechanical behavior of these samples was studied by the experimental tensile test. The experimental results indicate an enhancement of Young's modulus as the nano-clay content was increased from 0 to 10 wt% for the same dispersion grades. In addition, the Young's modulus value increased when the dispersion rate of the nano-clays was improved, showing the highest increase of around 93% for the nanocomposite with 10 wt% nano-clay. A comparison of the modeled mechanical properties and the experimental measurements values was performed to validate the modeling results. Rapeseed harvest cutting tools have been confined to large vibrations, entanglement, wear, and low efficiency. In this study, gas jet cutting was proposed for rapeseed stems using abrasive particles. This technique aimed to achieve the noncontact cutting between the machinery and the rapeseed, thereby ensuring efficient and low-consumption harvesting of rapeseed. The dynamic jet cutting of rapeseed stems was simulated using the smooth particle hydrodynamics-finite element method (SPH-FEM). The energy transfer between gas and solid phases was obtained for the dynamic behavior of the jet cutting. A test system was constructed to experimentally verify the jet cutting. The research results indicate that the maximum speeds of the airflow and abrasive particles were 741 and 411 m/s, respectively, when using a high-speed nozzle with a 4 mm diameter at a jet pressure of 20 MPa. Approximately 95% of the acceleration occurred in the throat and expansion sections. The external flow field of the nozzle exhibited a fluctuating pattern with the first decreasing and then increasing. The greater the jet pressure was, the more pronounced the velocity contraction and expansion fluctuations were. The jet beam primarily accelerated during gas expansion-contraction-expansion, thus converting the pressure into the kinetic energy of the jet beam. Once the inlet pressure increased from 3-10 MPa, the acceleration efficiency of the abrasive particles decreased from 31% to 11%. When the pressure exceeded 3 MPa, there was a further increase in the jet pressure, leading to a significant reduction in the efficiency of converting jet beam pressure energy to kinetic energy. At the same time, the maximum speed of abrasive particles with a diameter of 0.1 mm was 19% higher than that with a diameter of 0.3 mm. The larger the diameter of the abrasive particles were, the greater the cutting kinetic energy they obtained. Among them, 0.3 mm diameter abrasive particles exhibited the highest cutting kinetic energy, followed by 0.2 mm, and then 0.1 mm diameter. The minimum jet pressure of 0.4 MPa was required for the cutting rapeseed stems, with a lateral movement speed of 5 mm/s. Therefore, the stem was cut through in a single pass at a target distance of 10 mm. Once the lateral movement speed exceeded 5 mm/s, there was no cutting through in a single pass. When the jet nozzle was positioned 5 mm away from the target and the lateral movement speed was 5 mm/s, the minimum volume of cutting erosion was achieved in the incision widths ranging from 1 to 6 mm. The findings can also be applied to the cutting of similar crop stems. Routine household tasks, such as laundry or dishwashing, are complex socio-technical systems in which a variety of factors and actors interact, including manufacturers, technologies, regulators, consumer practices, cultural norms and infrastructures. A deep understanding of these socio-technical systems is necessary to find the right recommendations on how to optimise this system in order to achieve relevant savings in resource consumption without requiring a complete renewal of the infrastructure installed. In our case, we focus on automatic dishwashing in the United Kingdom and try to find out what an optimised consumer use of the dishwashers installed can look like and how many savings can be achieved. Accordingly, we modelled the base of dishwashers installed and conducted a consumer survey on dishwasher usage behaviour in sufficient detail to understand the interplay between the various factors. By simulating a change in usage behaviour, we find a potential energy saving of 21.3 % simply by following basic rules for selecting the appropriate programmes without the risk of a loss of performance. Microanastomosis presents a challenge in neurosurgical procedures, requiring specialized skills. Regular practice outside the operating room is crucial. This study aims to provide a detailed description of the side-to-side anastomosis technique and analyze its advantages in preventing failures compared with other variations. We examined the technique, characteristics, and outcomes of side-to-side bypass procedures for complex aneurysms in the anterior cerebral artery territory at our institution over the past decade. We compared our technique with those described in the literature by other groups. The Far East Neurosurgical Institute (FENI) technique was used in 15 patients, with 17 side-to-side anastomoses performed. The average anastomosis time was 27.5 minutes, with 100% patency in follow-up. Our technique demonstrated safety and effectiveness in treating intracranial aneurysms, yielding satisfactory short- and long-term functionality outcomes. We highlight the importance of maintaining a curvilinear arteriotomy shape, at least 3 times the diameter of the artery, and utilizing an interrupted suturing technique on the anterior wall. This paper presents the first comprehensive description of the side-to-side anastomosis technique, supported with images and videos for training and replicability. Our technique enhances flow dynamics and reduces the risk of acute thrombus formation. Objective: To compare the perceptions of participants before and after a one-day workshop on Simulation-based Education. The other objective was to determine the feedback of participants about the one day workshop on Simulation-based Education. Methods: In March 2023, a one-day workshop on Simulation-Based-Education (SBE) was conducted by the Department of Medical Education of Fazaia Ruth Pfau Medical Education in collaboration with the foreign guest faculty through zoom. This workshop was conducted with the participants (faculty members) of the Certificate program. The study adopted quasi experimental (pretest posttest) research design. For data collection we used a validated questionnaire which compromises of three parts. Data was analyzed using SPSS 23. This is a semi-structured questionnaire which consists of four parts. The first part entails the demographic data of the participants. The second structured part collects the perception of participants through 26 statements on 5 points Likert scale (strongly disagree = 1, disagree = 2, agree to some extent = 3, agree = 4, strongly agree = 5). The feasibility of retrieving the surface error of a lens system by using only the intensity of the propagated beam at several distances is demonstrated. A neural network, trained with a few thousand simulations using random errors, can predict accurately the lens error profile that accounts for all aberrations. Digital Twin (DT) is considered the most modern simulation method when it comes to tightly connect the real and virtual worlds to produce accurate simulation models of constant use to aid stakeholders in decision making. This method has been used more intensively in the manufacturing sector, but its use has spread to other sectors of great relevance in the economy, such as the retail industry. The contribution of this article to existing research is to present a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) addressing the state-of-the-art of the potential use of Digital Twins (DTs) to support decision making in the retail field. The main findings illustrate a considerable appearance of case studies applied directly in the sector, a strong investment in research focused on supply chains, an extensive use of simulation models and sensors, however, that mostly make use of secondary data and are not completely autonomous. Introduction: Clinical reasoning skills are essential for decision-making. Current assessment methods are limited when testing clinical reasoning and management of uncertainty. This study evaluates the reliability, validity and acceptability of Practicum Script, an online simulation-based programme, for developing medical students' clinical reasoning skills using real-life cases. Methods: In 2020, we conducted an international, multicentre pilot study using 20 clinical cases with 2457 final-year medical students from 21 schools worldwide. Psychometric analysis was performed (n = 1502 students completing at least 80% of cases). Classical estimates of reliability for three test domains (hypothesis generation, hypothesis argumentation and knowledge application) were calculated using Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega coefficients. Validity evidence was obtained by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and measurement alignment (MA). Items from the knowledge application domain were analysed using cognitive diagnostic modelling (CDM). Acceptability was evaluated by an anonymous student survey. Results: Reliability estimates were high with narrow confidence intervals. CFA revealed acceptable goodness-of-fit indices for the proposed three-factor model. CDM analysis demonstrated good absolute test fit and high classification accuracy estimates. Student survey responses showed high levels of acceptability. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that Practicum Script is a useful resource for strengthening students' clinical reasoning skills and ability to manage uncertainty. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: Sampling bias and gaps have a direct influence on the perceived patterns of biodiversity, hence limiting our ability to make well‐informed decisions about biodiversity conservation. Yet most methods either disregard or underestimate the effects of sampling bias and gaps in modelling biodiversity patterns. Our objective is to test the sensitivity of commonly used methods for modelling biodiversity dimensions (richness, endemism, and beta diversity) to sampling bias and collection gaps, and as a way to mitigate those effects we introduce a novel approach that employs the sampling effort to minimize the effects of collection bias and gaps in biodiversity models. Location: South America. Methods: Here, we use controlled simulations of virtual species distribution and sampling effort to test the sensitivity to sampling bias and collection gaps by commonly used methods, that is, species distribution models (SDMs), spatial interpolation (SI), and environmental prediction (EP), for estimating species richness, endemism, and beta diversity. Our research contributes to advancing biodiversity modelling by introducing a novel approach, named uniform sampling from sampling effort (USSE), that employs the sampling effort to minimize the effects of collection bias and gaps. Results and Main Conclusions: EP with USSE has proven effective in accurately predicting species richness, especially in scenarios in which the sampling effort does not coincide with the biodiversity niches. It outperformed SI and SDMs. The latter performed poorly, yielding the lowest predictive score. In estimating endemism and beta diversity, all methods yielded similar results, without statistically significant differences. For estimating beta diversity, the generalized dissimilarity model proved to be a robust method, even in face of biased sampling. Controlled simulations are key to testing biodiversity methods. These tests can isolate confounding factors inherent to real‐world data, enabling robust methodological assessments. Although fieldwork and curation of collections must remain indispensable, novel biodiversity methods could help overcome the limitations of sampling biases, helping expedite conservation actions much needed. Background: Individual implementation rate of bronchoscopy-guided percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT) varies among intensivists. Simulation training (ST) can increase the safety of medical procedures by reducing stress levels of the performing team. The aim of this study was to evaluate the benefit of ST in PDT regarding procedural time, quality of performance, and percepted feelings of safety of the proceduralist and to compare conventional simulators (CSIM) with simulators generated from 3D printers (3DSIM). Methods: We conducted a prospective, single-center, randomized, blinded cross-over study comparing the benefit of CSIM versus 3DSIM for ST of PDT. Participants underwent a standardized theoretical training and were randomized to ST with CSIM (group A) or 3DSIM (group B). After ST, participants' performance was assessed by two blinded examiners on a porcine trachea regarding time required for successful completion of PDT and correct performance (assessed by a performance score). Percepted feelings of safety were assessed before and after ST. This was followed by a second training and second assessment of the same aspects with crossed groups. Results: 44 participants were included: 24 initially trained with CSIM (group A) and 20 with 3DSIM (group B). Correctness of the PDT performance increased significantly in group B (p <.01) and not significantly in group A (p =.14). Mean procedural time required for performing a PDT after their second ST compared to the first assessment (p <.01) was lower with no difference between group A and group B and irrespective of the participants' previous experience regarding PDT, age, and sex. Moreover, percepted feelings of safety increased after the first ST in both groups (p <.001). Aims: The aims of this study were to develop a population pharmacokinetic (PK) model for risperidone ISM® and to investigate the relationships between active moiety exposure, as described by apparent clearance (CL40), and several covariates using all data from five clinical studies. Methods: A population PK model was developed using active moiety concentrations from a study in healthy volunteers and two studies in patients with schizophrenia. Data from a comparative bioavailability study in medically stable patients and a Phase III study in patients with acute exacerbation of schizophrenia were then incorporated, using empirical Bayesian feedback and model refinement in NONMEM. Finally, covariate analysis was performed on CL40. Results: The final model adequately described the pharmacokinetics of 6288 active moiety concentrations in 17 healthy volunteers and 430 patients with schizophrenia. This one‐compartment disposition model had a complex absorption process, combining a small amount immediately entering the central active moiety compartment, two first‐order absorption processes and a combined zero‐order and first order process, with first‐order elimination from the central compartment. Significant covariates on CL40 were BMI and sex. Goodness‐of‐fit (GOF) plots and visual predictive checks (VPC) confirmed acceptable description of the data. Conclusions: The population PK model adequately described active moiety concentrations from five clinical studies after risperidone ISM® administration. Relationships between active moiety exposure and covariates were defined in order to facilitate simulations for future studies. The model showed that risperidone ISM® rapidly achieves therapeutic plasma levels within the first hours after the first injection that are maintained sustainedly throughout the whole dosing interval following once‐monthly gluteal injections of 100 mg and 75 mg. Traditional body temperature monitoring technology has some problems, such as inaccurate manual reading, unable to monitor continuously for a long time, and difficult data storage and analysis. To solve these problems, this paper designs an application scenario of Internet of Things in body temperature monitoring, which integrates Internet of Things, network communication, network programming and other technologies, designs the overall architecture, topology structure and IP address allocation scheme of the system, and realizes real-time acquisition, transmission, storage, analysis, and display functions based on the Packet Tracer simulation platform. The performance evaluation and optimization are also carried out. The system realizes wireless monitoring and analysis of the body temperature data collected by the temperature sensor through the home gateway and single chip microcomputer and other devices. At present, most simulations of ejectors ignore the presence of lubricating oil, which may affect the accuracy of the results. Additionally, there has been less research conducted on the influence of motive nozzles with swirl generators on the performance of ejectors. In this study, a heterogeneous mixture model was developed for a three-phase swirl ejector equipped with a motive nozzle featuring a swirl generator. This article examines the performance of swirl ejectors under supercritical conditions using three-dimensional numerical simulations conducted in ANSYS. The study explores swirl ejectors with varying helical angles of 77°, 64°, 58°, 50°, 37°. The study also takes into account the influence of lubricating oil to enhance the practicality of the research. Firstly, lubricating oil with a volume fraction of 2 % was introduced into both the motive and suction streams, followed by conducting an ejection analysis. The results indicate that the swirl enhances the entrainment ratio, and the swirl strength can be modified by changing the helical angle. A smaller helical angle results in greater swirl strength and a higher entrainment ratio. When the helical angle is 37° and the helical pitch is 20 mm, a swirl number of 0.42, an entrainment ratio of 0.998, and an effective entrainment ratio of 0.863 is achieved. However, when the oil circulation ratio in the suction stream is increased from 2 % to 10 % while keeping the oil circulation ratio of the motive stream constant, the entrainment ratio decreases. Background: Research continues to be conducted on rapid response systems as patient outcomes associated with rapid response team activations are still not consistently showing benefit. One particular area of focus that is a growing area is the literature regarding training and education for individual team members of the rapid response team. Objective: The purpose of this narrative review was to describe the current literature regarding educational interventions for rapid response team members. Methods: This review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. To be included in the narrative review, studies needed to be reporting on educational interventional research for rapid response team members of the efferent limb. No studies were excluded based upon study design or publication years. Results: This narrative reviewincluded 6 studies. Four studies assessed outcomes associated with rapid response team members, and 2 of the studies assessed patient outcomes associated with implementing education routinely for rapid response teams. All studies found a positive impact of implementing educational interventions. Discussion: Our narrative review found that limited research has been conducted in the area of educational interventions for rapid response team members, and of the articles identified, most did not assess patient-associated outcomes. The findings demonstrate that this area of research is in its early stages, and further work is needed to identify what content should be provided in the education and what educational methodologies should be employed, and to continue to assess patient health outcomes associated with educational interventions for rapid response team members.
