Chinese migrants face numerous socioeconomic disadvantages. Little is understood about their vulnerability to consumer financial fraud, which can impede their integration into urban China and hamper the national priority of continued urbanization. This study utilizes nationally representative data from 2015 China Household Finance Survey to investigate migrants' risk factors for consumer financial fraud across two stages: fraud exposure and victimization. Results reveal a distinct pattern of fraud risks based on migrant status and stages of fraud, partially supporting theories of disadvantaged consumer and routine activity. After adjusting for other factors, urban migrants exhibit a 28.2% higher likelihood of encountering fraud than urban residents, with rural migrants having a 57.3% higher probability of overall victimization. Recent movers face a higher risk. Market and digital engagement emerge as key factors influencing fraud exposure. The Jilin clawed salamander (Onychodactylus zhangyapingi) is an endemic, endangered, and level‐two protected amphibian species of China. In the context of serious threats to amphibians worldwide, conservation studies of this endangered species are urgently needed. In this study, mitogenomic conservation genetics and species distribution modeling analyses were performed for O. zhangyapingi. Sixty‐three samples were collected from nine different locations, and the complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced. Population genetic analyses revealed that O. zhangyapingi exhibits only one genetic structure with extremely low nucleotide diversity. Late Pleistocene climate cooling may have led to a reduction in effective population size and extremely low mitogenomic nucleotide diversity in this salamander, and the subsequent temperature increase (~20 kya to present) provided the opportunity for rapid population growth. The continuous highly suitable region for O. zhangyapingi is only approximately 3000 km2 on the southeastern boundary of Jilin Province, China. Fortunately, there are three large forested national nature reserves within the distribution of O. zhangyapingi that can effectively protect endangered species. Our findings suggest that O. zhangyapingi is a vulnerable species with a narrow distribution and extremely low genetic diversity, and we should pay more attention to the conservation management of this species. This study pivots from the broadly beneficial view of servant leadership and focuses on its negative effects on leaders themselves. Combining the constructionist approach with the job demands–resources (JD‐R) model, we propose the mutualism and parasitism paths and argue that servant leadership behaviors and followers' responses co‐construct leaders' emotional exhaustion. Specifically, we hypothesize that servant leadership influences followers' job demands and resources and, thus, predicts team taking charge and team dependence on leader. In turn, the two factors influence leaders' job demands and resources and, consequently, impact leaders' emotional exhaustion. Using two‐wave data of 385 employees from 83 teams, our results support the hypothesized model. Overall, our model and findings help explain the dark side of servant leadership. Guangzhou is located in the southern part of China, near the South China Sea, belongs to Guangdong Province. It serves as China's southern gateway to the world and was historically called "The Southern Treasure of the Emperor", playing a crucial role in China's maritime trade history. Throughout Chinese history, Guangzhou underwent several cycles of "closure" and "opening", policies that severely impacted trade. However, foreign merchants never ceased to request permission from the Chinese government to engage in trade. In 1757, Emperor Qianlong decreed Guangzhou as the only one official port for foreign trade. This edict led to the establishment of the one port trading system in Guangzhou, as the Qing government aimed to counter foreign influences and local uprisings while maintaining a self-sufficient small-scale agricultural economy. Western nations and their traders sought opportunities within this system, aspiring to expand trade to other regions of China, even the inland areas. The exclusive status of Guangzhou as China's only one trading port persisted until 1842, following the defeat of the Qing government in the Opium War against Britain, the Nanjing Treaty was signed. This treaty opened Guangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, Fuzhou, and Xiamen as trading ports, bringing an end to the one port trading system. The reasons and impacts of the establishment of this system have not been comprehensively analyzed to date. Therefore, this paper based on historical archives, analyzes both the direct and underlying reasons behind Emperor Qianlong's decision and elucidates the system's diverse impacts on various aspects of Qing-era China. Invasive species are one of the most serious threats to biodiversity. Pomacea canaliculata is considered one of the world's 100 worst invasive species. Major determinants of invasive species distribution are their environmental tolerances, and an understanding of correlations between local environmental variables (e.g., pH, concentration of dissolved oxygen) and genetic diversity is necessary to better prevent and manage the spread of invasive species. However, while such studies have demonstrated associations between the distribution and density of P. canaliculata and water quality correlates, the principal mechanisms relating genetic and these environmental correlates have not been fully articulated. Here, the correlation between physicochemical parameters and genetics of P. canaliculata were analyzed. The results showed that P. canaliculata among the six collection locations had robust genetic diversity, significant genetic differentiation, limited gene flow, and stable population dynamics. RDA analysis showed that genetic variation in P. canaliculata was significantly correlated with concentration of dissolved oxygen and pH. These results will provide a basis for effectively preventing and managing the spread of invasive species and identifying which habitats may be more at risk of invasion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Black carbon (BC), an important component of atmospheric aerosol, plays a significant role in regional climate, hydrological cycle, variation of monsoon rainfall, and human health. The 40-year detailed atmospheric BC over China from 1981 to 2020 is systematically investigated through the MERRA-2 reanalysis dataset. MERRA-2 BC generally showed a good correlation (R = 0.68) compared with 673 monthly samples from ground-based observation at 35 stations around China. The overall annual average of MERRA-2 BC concentration over China is 1.15 μg/m3, with a fast growth rate during 1981–2007 and a relatively slow decrease after that. The winter season has the highest mean concentration of BC, followed by autumn and spring, whereas summer shows relatively weaker values. The order of annual average BC concentrations during 1981–2020 is Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region (BTH, 4.02 μg/m3) > Sichuan Basin (SB, 3.94 μg/m3) > Yangtze River Delta (YRD, 2.68 μg/m3) > Pearl River Delta (PRD, 1.47 μg/m3). The monthly mean BC concentrations over the BTH, YRD, PRD and SB are estimated to be smallest 3.18 μg/m3 in May, 1.94 μg/m3 in August, 0.82 μg/m3 in July, 3.04 μg/m3 in June, respectively, whilst largest consistently in December with 5.09 μg/m3, 3.83 μg/m3, 2.12 μg/m3, and 5.41 μg/m3, respectively. Our study indicates the primary potential source areas for BC are concentrated in the research city and its surroundings. Beijing and Chengdu are more BC-polluted areas than Shanghai and Guangzhou. Long-distance, regional transfer from south BTH contributes importantly to BC pollution in Beijing under the influence of prevailing southerly winds. Urban expansion is the result of the comprehensive action of various social and economic factors, among which variation in land prices is regarded as the leading factor affecting the direction and intensity of urban expansion. However, few of existing studies have explored the interaction relationship between urban expansion and variations in residential land prices, which needs to be looked at urgently in both theoretical research and decision-making practice. In this study, based on theoretical analysis, a panel vector autoregression model was constructed using the data of 104 cities in China from 2001 to 2017. The results show that there is a long-term two-way causality and mutual promotion between urban expansion and increases in residential land prices. The increase in the residential land supply caused by urban expansion will restrain the rise of residential land prices, but this effect is not sustained over the long run. Both urban expansion and residential land price rises are subject to inertia, the latter to a greater extent than the former. The results also reveal that the interaction differs for cities at different stages of economic development. Based on the analysis, policy suggestions for guiding urban expansion and further exerting macrocontrol over land market are proposed. It is very necessary to study the land price of urban housing, because this issue is related to the increase in people's happiness in life. Land price change is considered the dominant factor affecting the direction and intensity of urban expansion. Therefore, studying the relationship between urban expansion and residential land price is helpful to guide the orderly and reasonable urban expansion. The purpose of this study is to clarify the detailed process of urban expansion and residential land price, so as to help policymakers to formulate corresponding policies in different links, and to combine the research conclusions with the process of making policy recommendations, in order to provide beneficial help for urban planners and decision-makers in urban planning and land price regulation policies. Introduction: Patient gender has clinical and prognostic implications in non‐cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, yet the potential effect of gender on clinical characteristics of patients with non‐cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis is still unclear. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the gender differences in clinical characteristics of patients with bronchiectasis in different age groups in northern China. Methods: A total of 777 patients diagnosed with bronchiectasis were retrospectively included in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital and divided into two groups by gender: the male group and the female group. Each group was then subdivided into two according to their age (≤65 and >65 years). Gender differences in clinical characteristics were compared in all patients with bronchiectasis in the two age groups, respectively. Results: A total of 777 bronchiectasis patients were included. Of these patients, the prevalence of female non‐smokers was substantially higher than that of male non‐smokers (94.0% vs. 36.8%). There were gender differences in etiology of bronchiectasis, with more post‐measles and connective tissue disease in females (p = 0.006 and 0.002 separately) and more chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in males (p < 0.001). The male group had a significantly higher C‐reactive protein (CRP) on admission (p = 0.03). Female patients showed a higher forced expiratory volume in 1 s as percentage of predicted volume (FEV1%pred) and forced vital capacity rate of 1 s (FEV1/FVC) (p < 0.001), lower partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) (p = 0.04) and hospital costs (p = 0.02) than males, and a higher prevalence of infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa in >65‐year‐old group (p = 0.019). Conclusions: There were many differences between male and female patients in smoking status, etiology, lung function, blood gas analysis, and hospital costs in all patients or different age groups. This study aims to explore the determinants of preschool choice among middle-income parents in Shanghai, the city with the most adequate and diversified preschool services in China. We administer an online survey to 333 Shanghai middle-income parents and find that preschool quality, children's development, and parents' needs constitute the determinants of preschool choice. Furthermore, the parents are primarily concerned about program quality and the development of children's self-care abilities. Among them, 226 parents are very satisfied with the kindergarten they chose, 99 parents are satisfied, eight are generally satisfied, and none reports feeling dissatisfied. There are significant effects of preschool type, parental jobs, and parental education level on parental satisfaction. Those emerging middle-income parents can only send their children to second-level preschools, which are relatively below their expectations, they tended to have lower satisfaction. These findings imply that the educational authorities should adjust their policymaking to meet the varying needs of middle-income families in rapidly developing cities. The wet deposition flux of black carbon (BC) over the Sichuan Basin is studied on the basis of the MERRA-2 data from 1981 to 2020, aiming at investigating high BC wet deposition flux in China in terms of long-term spatial-temporal trends and influences of BC column mass density and precipitation. In China, the largest BC wet deposition flux with a regionally-averaged value of 1.00 × 10−2 μg m−2 s−1 over the Sichuan Basin is observed, especially in the western and southern regions of the Basin with values as high as 2.20 × 10−2 μg m−2 s−1. The seasonality of BC wet deposition flux over the Sichuan Basin depicts maximum levels in autumn, moderate levels in spring and winter, and minimum levels in summer. The monthly mean BC wet deposition flux varies almost twofold, ranging from the lowest average value of 8.05 × 10−3 μg m−2 s−1 in July to the highest 1.28 × 10−2 μg m−2 s−1 in October. This study suggests that BC column mass density and precipitation are two significant factors affecting high BC wet deposition flux, whereas BC wet deposition flux is more related to BC column mass density than to precipitation over the Sichuan Basin. Due to the lack of restrictions on the exploitation and use of coal mine resources in early China, many wetland lakes were formed because of the changes in geological structure and groundwater overflows, which seriously damaged the land for production and construction. At present, the research on the key technologies and landscape design of water ecosystems and wetland repair in subsidence areas is still insufficient. By analyzing the current situation of the Pan'an Lake Wetland, this paper focuses on the strategies of wetland repair and landscape design in this resource-exhausted area. Primulina malingheensis X.X. Bai, F. Wen & Y.L. Zhou, a new species of Gesneriaceae from a karst area in Guizhou Province, China, is described and illustrated. Breakthroughs in biotechnology, globalizing intellectual property rights legislations, and growing venture capital in the past thirty years have given rise to new forms of capitalist accumulation that scholars called biocapitalism. Bioscientific knowledge under biocapitalism is increasingly parceled out from a global common to private enclosures for biotech and pharmaceutical companies, contributing to vast inequalities and fractures of global access to innovation evident in the COVID-19 pandemic. The assetization and financialization of knowledge have shifted the ground of innovation from competitive commodity production and exchanges to generating, managing, and commercializing patents and associated monopoly rights, thus raising the challenges of innovation for those developing countries specialized in production. Many Asian countries have invested heavily in biomedical sciences to enhance their knowledge assets but had limited success in translating the scientific development to a globally significant biomedical industry. This article discusses the evolution of China's biomedical industry from a technological laggard to a recent innovation boom after a regulatory overhaul in 2015. Analyzing the patent collaborative networks of China's biomedical industry since 2003, we found the central roles of domestic public research institutions, in contrast to multinational corporations, as cutting-edge knowledge providers. We argue that China's path of the biomedical industry is distinct from its other technology industries that rely on multinational corporations for core knowledge. It represents a national articulation in response to global biocapitalism by situating the domestic research institutions and biomedical firms at the center of knowledge assets production and engaging globally in the science and drug regulatory systems. One novel ascomycetous yeast strain TF5-16-2 was isolated from water samples of Tuofengling crater lake located in Da Hinggan Ling Mountain, in the Inner Mongolia province of China. Morphological, physiological characteristics, as well as phylogenetic analyses of D1/D2 domains of the large subunit rRNA (LSU), ITS region, small subunit rRNA (SSU), and elongation factor-1α (EF-1α) were performed and finally confirmed the phylogenetic placement of strain TF5-16-2 in the genus Wickerhamomyces. Sequences analysis revealed that strain TF5-16-2 differed from its most closely related phylogenetic neighbors 'Candida' silvicultrix CBS 6269T and Wickerhamomyces anomalus CBS 5759T by 8.0% (including 2.3% gaps), 8.5% (including 2.4% gaps) divergences in D1/D2 domains of LSU, and 11% (including 4.3% gaps) and 13% (including 4.4% gaps) divergences in ITS region, respectively. As the considerable sequence divergence and distinguishable physiological characteristics, strain TF5-16-2 was proposed as a new species of the genus Wickerhamomyces, with the name Wickerhamomyces kurtzmanii sp. nov. Objective. To explore the effect of Xinyi Biyan Pill in adjuvant treatment of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and its influence on serum inflammatory factors and immune function. Methods. From January 2017 to April 2020, 112 CRS patients admitted to this hospital were randomly divided into the control group (n = 52) and the study group (n = 60). The control group was treated with endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), after the operation, levofloxacin capsules were taken orally, budesonide nasal spray was given, and the nasal cavity was flushed with normal saline; on the basis of that mentioned above, the study group was treated with Xinyi Biyan Pill orally after the surgery. The clinical efficacy and the symptom relief time of nasal congestion and runny nose, hyposmia, mucosal edema, and vesicles disappearance of the two groups after treatment were observed; the serum inflammatory factors' (C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-8 (IL-8)) and immune function indexes' (total immunoglobulin E (TIgE), eosinophil cationic protein (ECP), CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+) expression levels before and after treatment in the two groups were detected; the recurrence of CRS after 1 year of treatment in the two groups was recorded. Result. After treatment, the total clinical effective rate of the study group (92.98%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (78.00%) (P < 0.05). After treatment, the symptom relief time of nasal congestion and runny nose, hyposmia, mucosal edema, and vesicle disappearance in the study group was shorter than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the expression levels of serum CRP, IL-6, and IL-8 in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the study group was significantly lower than the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the expression levels of serum TIgE and ECP of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, the expression levels of serum CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ of the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment, and the study group had significant changes compared with the control group (P < 0.05). After 1 year of treatment, the recurrence rate of CRS in the study group (1.79%) was significantly lower than that in the control group (12.00%) (P < 0.05). Conclusion. Xinyi Biyan Pill has a significant clinical effect in adjuvant treatment of CRS patients. It can effectively reduce the expression level of serum inflammatory factors, improve the body's immune function, and prevent short-term recurrence. It is worthy of clinical promotion. The ongoing coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has serious influences on human health and economy. The available clinical data suggest that patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 have the possibility of simultaneous infection of bacteria. In this study, we present a data-driven mathematical model for coinfection of SARS-CoV-2 and bacteria to investigate the dynamics of COVID-19 progress. Specifically, based on the statistical analysis of different clinical data from China and some other countries, a system model with ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in four variables, i.e. SARS-CoV-2, bacteria, neutrophils and lymphocytes, is established. We further validate our model through theoretical analysis and fitting of different clinical data. Moreover, through numerical simulations and bifurcation analysis, we find that bacterial infection and immune-related parameters in certain ranges lead to the system transitions among three steady states, i.e. mild, severe and death. We also analyzed the influence of the time it takes for patients to switch from a high-risk area to a low-risk area on the recovery time. These results reveal that the coinfection of viruses and bacteria can explain the changes in neutrophils and lymphocytes, and that initial bacterial infection and immune-related parameters have great influences on the severity degree and mortality in COVID-19 patients. Together, our model and quantitative analysis suggest that preventing bacterial infection and enhancing immune ability during the early phase of infections could be a potential treatment option for high-risk COVID-19 patients. Aim: The prognosis and treatment options for follicular lymphoma (FL) remain heterogenous. This study aimed to analyze the prognostic impact of rituximab maintenance and evaluate the prognostic models in Chinese FL patients. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated patients with treatment‐naïve advanced stage FL who were treated in Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College between January 2008 and December 2018. We compared the baseline characteristics, long‐term survival outcomes, prognostic factors and the performance of four common prognostic models (i.e., FLIPI, FLIPI2, PRIMA‐PI and LDH+β2M) between them. Results: A total of 158 patients were included (rituximab maintenance group, 77 patients; observation group, 81 patients). The median follow‐up time was 61.0 months. The rituximab maintenance group showed significantly higher 5‐year progression‐free survival (PFS; 83.3% vs 52.7%, P < 0.001) and overall survival (OS; 97.8% vs 84.1%, P = 0.032) than the observation group. FLIPI2 showed a more discriminating C index than the other three models. Conclusion: This study showed that rituximab maintenance after chemoimmunotherapy induction can prolong both PFS and OS in patients with advanced‐stage FL, and FLIPI2 is a promising prognostic model. Objective. It remains unknown whether obesity has an effect on the pituitary-thyroid feedback control axis in subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH). We aimed to investigate the association of thyroid homeostasis with obesity in a SCH population. Methods. Our study consisted of a community-based and cross-sectional study from the Epidemiological Survey of Thyroid Diseases in Fujian Province, China. A total of 193 subjects with SCH (90 males and 103 females) without a history of treatment of thyroid disease, such as surgery, radiation, and thyroid hormone or antithyroid medication, were included in the present study. Indices of obesity, including body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and waist-height ratio (WHtR) were measured. Results. Our results showed that the secretory capacity of the thyroid gland (SPINA-GT) and Jostel's thyrotropin index (TSHI) were negatively correlated with BMI, WC, and WHtR, whereas the reciprocal of the thyrotroph thyroid hormone resistance index (TTSI-1) was positively correlated with BMI (all p < 0.05). After adjustment for age, sex, smoking, iodine status, and glucolipid metabolism, the associations between TSHI, TTSI (reciprocal transformation), and BMI still persisted (all p < 0.05). Conclusions. These results suggest that low levels of thyroid homeostasis indexes may be associated with overall obesity in SCH, rather than central adiposity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Depression is known to be one of the most common mental disorders raising global concerns. However, evidence regarding the association between short-term air pollution exposure and risk of development of depression is limited. The aim of this was to assess the relationship between short-term ambient air pollution exposure and depression in outpatient visits in Xi'an, a northwestern Chinese metropolis. Data for air pollutants including particulate matter (PM10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels from October 1, 2010 to December 31, 2013 and number of daily depression outpatient visits (92,387 in total) were collected. A time-series quasi-Poisson regression model was adopted to determine the association between short-term air pollutant concentrations and frequency of outpatient visits for depression with different lag models. Consequently, 10 μg/m3 increase of SO2 and NO2 levels corresponded to significant elevation in number of outpatient-visits for depression on concurrent days (lag 0), and this relationship appeared stronger in cool seasons (October to March). However, the association of PM10 was only significant in males aged 30–50 at lag 0. Evidence indicated that short-term exposure to ambient air pollutants especially in cool seasons might be associated with increased risk of outpatient visits for depression. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research aims to explore detailed spatial distribution characteristics, identify key factors weight, and establish an accurate susceptibility regionalization model of coseismic landslides by the Mw 6.6 Iburi, Japan, earthquake sequence of 6 September 2018. Based on the remote sensing interpretation database, 5,977 individual coseismic landslides were delineated, which occupies an area of about 15.26 km2. The relationship between eight key factors and spatial distribution of coseismic landslides were precisely analyzed by the landslide area density (LAD) and landslide point density (LPD) curves. In order to obtain the weight of eight key factors more accurately, this paper compares the similarities and differences of the two curves in the earthquakes with similar magnitude, which was included the Lushan and Jiuzhaigou earthquake in China. According to the weight of eight key factors, the improved weight of evidence method was used to produce the susceptibility regionalization map of coseismic landslides in the Iburi earthquake. The results show that the improved weight of evidence method has better precision and can provide a scientific coseismic landslides susceptibility regionalization map for disaster prevention and mitigation in the Iburi earthquake. Background: To prevent spreading of the COVID-19 infection, many countries have implemented a nationwide school closure. We aimed to assess the prevalence of behavioral problems in school-aged children during home confinement.Methods: We conducted an internet-based survey involving 1264 children (grades 2-6) and their parents from two primary schools between February 25 and March 8, 2020, in Hubei province, China. Behavioral problems were evaluated using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ).Results: The prevalence of prosocial behaviors among children was 10.3%, followed by total difficulty (8.2%), conduct problems (7.0%), peer problems (6.6%), hyperactivity-inattention (6.3%) and emotional problems (4.7%). Compared with children who did not exercise, children with psychical activity had a lower hyperactivity-inattention risk (Odds Ratio (OR): 0.44 for 1-2 days/week; OR: 0.56 for more than 2 days/week) and less prosocial behaviors problems (OR: 0.65 for 1-2 days/week; OR: 0.55 for more than 2 days/week). In this study, drawing from adaptive structuration theory (AST) and embeddedness theory, we investigate the relationship between the interaction of HRM digitalization and HRM system maturity on firm performance as well as the moderating role played by HR strategic and business involvement. On the basis of a sample of 211 listed enterprises of China, our results indicate that the interaction of HRM digitalization and HRM system maturity is positively related to firm performance and that the relationship is strengthened by HR strategic and business involvement. The implications of our findings for research and practice are discussed. Background: Studies have identified numerous factors that may affect the sleep quality and quality of life (QOL) in outpatients with schizophrenia. However, the clinically stable inpatients who represent a large proportion of the population with schizophrenia in China have not received enough attention. The present study was performed to explore the sociodemographic and clinical correlates of sleep disturbance and QOL in clinically stable inpatients with schizophrenia in rural China.Methods: A cross-sectional study was designed, and 207 clinically stable inpatients with schizophrenia were selected from Chifeng Anding Hospital, located in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in northern China. All subjects were interviewed by the same investigator using standardized assessment instruments. QOL and sleep disturbance were measured using the Schizophrenia Quality of Life Scale (SQLS) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), respectively. Univariate and multiple regression analyses were used to identify the factors influencing sleep disturbance and QOL. Antipsychotics taken by individuals were converted into olanzapine equivalent doses as the main confounding factor to be controlled.Results: The prevalence of sleep disturbance was 58%, and sleep disturbance was significantly associated with depression (OR 1.33, 95% CI 1.17-1.52) and coping mechanisms (OR 0.95, 95% CI 0.91-0.98). We observed large differences between the sexes: the QOL of male inpatients with schizophrenia was substantially better than that of female inpatients, with a standard coefficient of 0.19 ± 1.62. Other factors related to QOL were depression (0.42 ± 0.30), hope (- 0.21 ± 0.19), general psychopathology symptoms (0.21 ± 0.24) and personal and social performance (- 0.12 ± 0.07).Conclusions: The depressive symptoms of inpatients with schizophrenia should receive more attention. Hourly mapping by a Geostationary Ocean Color Imager was used to reveal the spatial pattern and tidal variation of total suspended solids (TSS) over the Yangtze Bank in the Yellow and East China Seas during the winter. The TSS form a tongue-shaped structure, which decreases further offshore in a stepwise manner. The stepwise change is separated by two fronts of TSS, which are located near the 20-m and 50-m isobaths. The tidal variation of TSS concentration during the study period is evident and can be divided into three stages: decay, maintenance, and growth. Compared with the relatively stationary TSS during the maintenance stage, drastic changes exist during the decay and growth stages. In terms of tide-induced mixing, the dynamic analysis shows that both the topography and the tidal currents play an important role in the spatio-temporal variation of TSS during the tidal period. High-resolution numerical simulation results of a squall line initiated along a convergence zone in northeast China on 26 June 2014 were presented in this study. The simulation was performed by a convection-permitting model with coarse and fine grids of 4 and 1.33 km, respectively, and the simulation results were validated against the observation. Results showed that the simulation adequately reproduced the life cycle of the squall line, which allowed detailed investigation of the mechanism of convective initiation in this case. The synoptic condition was favorable for convective initiation and the convection was triggered in a convergence zone, where a branch of dry and cold air and a branch of moist and warm air collided. The water vapor flux divergence was inhomogeneous and some cores of water vapor convergence existed in the convergence zone. These cores were the spots where water vapor converged intensely and the air there was forced to rise, creating favorable spots where the convection was initially triggered. A series of quasi-equally spaced vortices near the surface, which themselves were the result of horizontal shear instability, were accountable for the inhomogeneity of the surface water vapor flux divergence. These vortices rotated the moist air into their north and dry air into their south, thus creating more favorable spots for convective initiation in their north. After initiation, the updraft turned the horizontal vorticity into vertical vorticity in the mid-level. As internet privacy concern (IPC) keeps spiking, it is imperative to reexamine privacy concern among social media users in a cross-cultural context. Using the purposive sampling method, this study recruited 1,340 social media users aged 18–82 in the United State and China. It integrates medium theory and cultural perspectives to study IPC by analyzing the technological antecedents of social media use among young users who grew up with social media and their "digital immigrant" parents who did not. U.S. and Chinese respondents were concerned about IPC regardless of their genders. Young people reported a lower IPC level than elder users. IPC was negatively related to social media power use, but not to social media habitual use. Some cultural differences were revealed. Among those aged 18–25, U.S. users had significantly lower IPC than their Chinese counterparts. In those aged 50+, little difference concerning IPC existed between U.S. and Chinese users. This study represents the first attempt of integrating both technology and cultural perspectives to examine internet privacy concern. The findings, including one's cultural background moderating the association between social media power use and IPC, should contribute to a better understanding of privacy concerns in a cross-cultural setting. Interpreting regulatory documents or building codes into computer-processable formats is essential for the intelligent design and construction of buildings and infrastructures. Although automated rule interpretation (ARI) methods have been investigated for years, most of them are highly dependent on the early and manual filtering of interpretable clauses from a building code. While few of them considered machine interpretability, which represents the potential to be transformed into a computer-processable format, from both clause- and document-level. Therefore, this research aims to propose a novel approach to automatically evaluate and enhance the machine interpretability of single clauses and building codes. First, a few categories are introduced to classify each clause in a building code considering the requirements for rule interpretation, and a dataset is developed for model training. Then, an efficient text classification model is developed based on a pretrained domain-specific language model and transfer learning techniques. Finally, a quantitative evaluation method is proposed to assess the overall interpretability of building codes. Experiments show that the proposed text classification algorithm outperforms the existing CNN- or RNN-based methods, by improving the F1-score from 72.16% to 93.60%. It is also illustrated that the proposed classification method can enhance downstream ARI methods with an improvement of 4%. Furthermore, analysis of more than 150 building codes in China showed that their average interpretability is only 34.40%, which implies that it is still difficult to fully transform an entire regulatory document into computer-processable formats. It is also argued that the interpretability of building codes should be further improved both from the human side (considering certain constraints when writing building codes) and the machine side (developing more powerful algorithms, tools, etc.). During the damage and defects related to rolling contact fatigue (RCF), together with wear occurring at the rail surface, the microscopic characteristics of the rail material change with the accumulation of wheel cycles. To find the relationship between rail material characteristics and RCF damage under wheel-rail contact situations, a series of twin-disc rolling-sliding tests, based on real wheel-rail contact situations at a radius of 80 mm rail profile, was established for a heavy-haul railway in China. The microscale characteristics of the rail disc contact surface was researched, including crack, wear, roughness, and hardness of the U75V rail with different load cycles. The results show that the damage mechanism of RCF and wear alternately dominates the rail disc surface at the microscale, taking a certain cycle as a boundary which makes the RCF crack number and wear rate have opposite evolutionary trends. The above factors also affect the wear at the surface rail discs, alternating between fatigue and adhesion. Meanwhile, increasing the surface micro-hardness leads to a decrease in the relative wear rate and an increase in the roughness, length and number of RCF cracks. The plastic deformation layers, including the severely deformed layer (SDL) and the transition layer (TL), almost maintain the same thickness and the dynamic equilibrium increases during the cycles. Two kinds of cracks are initiated and propagated at the rail disc surface, one at the SDL and the other at the junction of SDL and TL. Background: Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and other extracorporeal therapies for acute kidney injury (AKI) and other organ dysfunction syndromes in critically ill patients are common in the intensive care unit (ICU). Many studies have focused on clinical practice for managing these conditions. However, there are few studies that describe the utilization of extracorporeal therapies, especially CRRT, in patients with sepsis-associated AKI. Summary: Two hundred ICU physicians were included in a survey from February 28, 2017, to March 20, 2017, on the current status of septic AKI and clinical practice in CRRT. According to the responses, 40% of sepsis patients in the ICU had AKI, and 25% required extracorporeal therapies. However, 29% of candidates gave up therapy for medical or nonmedical reasons. Overall survival for sepsis was 60%; among survivors, 80% were dialysis free at discharge. CRRT was the most common modality of extracorporeal therapy in the ICU, and 82% of physicians chose convection as the major clearance mode. The survey showed 30% of physicians saw the removal of inflammatory mediators as the major objective of extracorporeal therapies; however, only 18.5% of physicians considered inflammation as a measure to trigger CRRT. The median treatment duration of CRRT in China was 12 h per day for 5 days. Key Messages: There were some similarities and differences in CRRT practice for septic AKI patients in China and globally. As a sustainable transportation mode, high-speed railway (HSR) has been developing rapidly during the past decade in China. With the formation of dense HSR network, how to improve the utilization efficiency of train-sets (the carrying tools of HSR) has been a new research hotspot. Moreover, the emergence of railway transportation hubs has brought great challenges to the traditional train-sets' utilization mode. Thus, in this paper, we address the issue of train-sets' utilization problem with the consideration of railway transportation hubs, which consists of finding an optimal Train-set Circulation Plan (TCP) to complete trip tasks in a given Train Diagram (TD). An integer programming TCP model is established to optimize the train-set utilization scheme, aiming to obtain the one-to-one correspondence relationship among sets of train-sets, trip tasks, and maintenances. A genetic algorithm (GA) is designed to solve the model. A case study based on Nanjing and Shanghai HSR transportation hubs is made to demonstrate the practical significance of the proposed method. Neoliberalism as a hegemonic global ideology and framework of governance has been the subject of extensive critical analyses in geography and urban studies. Despite the conceptual difficulties involved, a growing number of scholars have attempted to apply this critical discourse to China. In this commentary, we critically interrogate the urban China literature that deploys the neoliberal lens, mostly authored by scholars outside China, and we raise the fundamental question as to whether this discourse can ever capture the central stories or trajectories of China's urban transformation. We examine the interpretations of China's urban land property market, urban inequality and its spatial manifestation, and the emerging urban governmentality – the areas in which neoliberalism has been most often invoked – to highlight the utility and limitations of a neoliberal treatment of China. We argue that the neoliberal representation of China's urban (re)development, with its preoccupation with capital and class interests, is unable to effectively capture the distinctive nature of entanglement of capital, state and society in China, and thus obscures the driving role and the competing rationalities of the authoritarian state, and the rapid reconfiguration of urban society. By citing examples of recent urban China research, we show that the neoliberalism framework, even in its 'variegated' or 'assemblage' versions, tends to trap China's analysis within a frame of reference comfortable to Western researchers, and ultimately hinders the development of diversified, potentially more fruitful inquiries of the urban world. Abstract Ungulate bocaparvoviruses (UBoV) 2–5 are recently discovered porcine bocaparvoviruses belonging to the family Parvoviridae , and are considered to be a potentially major cause of swine diseases. In order to detect local UBoV2 epidemics in China, we developed a TaqMan-based real-time PCR (qPCR) assay targeting the UBoV2 VP1 gene and compared the results of qPCR with conventional PCR (cPCR). The qPCR reproducibly detected a recombinant DNA plasmid containing the VP1 gene over a range of eight orders of magnitude, from 9.97 × 10−1–106 copies/μL, with a lower limit of detection of 9.97 copies/μL, compared with approximately 9.97 × 102 copies/μL for cPCR. The qPCR assay showed no cross-reactivity with other UBoVs or other porcine viruses. This qPCR assay detected UBoV2 in 18.1% (84/463) of pig samples collected from Chinese swine herds, with the highest infection rate of 35.3% (53/150) in loose stools. UBoV2 was not detected in liver samples. The TaqMan-based qPCR assay established in this study was highly sensitive and specific for the diagnosis and quantification of UBoV2. Background: Previous studies have found that the triglyceride glucose index (TyG index) trajectories are associated with cardiovascular diseases. However, the association between the patterns of TyG index trajectories and risk for hypertension has not been investigated. In a longitudinal general population, we aimed to identify distinct TyG index trajectories over 12 years and describe their association with incidence of hypertension. Method: Of the 15,056 adults retrospectively recruited from the Physical Examination Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University in northeast of China from 2011 to 2022. TyG index was calculated as ln (fasting TG [mg/dL] × FPG [mg/dL]/2) and the TyG index trajectories were developed using group-based trajectory modelling. Cox regression analysis was accomplished to assess the association between TyG index and incidence of hypertension. Results: The median age of the population was 38 years, and 7352 (48.83%) of the participants were men. Three distinct TyG index trajectories were identified: "low increasing" (N = 7241), "moderate increasing" (N = 6448), and "high stable" (N = 1367). Using "low increasing" trajectory as a reference, "moderate increasing" and "high stable" trajectory were associated with increased risk of hypertension (HR = 2.45; 95% CI 2.25–2.67 and HR = 3.88; 95% CI 3.48–4.33). After adjusting for baseline sex, age, diabetes, smoking, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, blood glucose, triglyceride, urea, uric acid, and glomerular filtration rate, the HR were slightly attenuate in "moderate increasing" and "high stable" trajectories to 1.38 (95% CI 1.23–1.54) and 1.69 (95% CI 1.40–2.02) respectively. Meanwhile, similar results were observed in multiple sensitivity analyses. The HR of the "moderate increasing" and "high stable" trajectory groups were 2.63 (95% CI 2.30–3.00) and 4.66 (95% CI 3.66–5.93) in female, and 1.66 (95% CI 1.48–1.86) and 2.33 (95% CI 2.04–2.66) in male. Conclusions: Elevated TyG index at baseline and long-term TyG index trajectories were associated with the risk of hypertension. Wear and rolling contact fatigue (RCF) cracks are the key defects affecting the service life of heavy‐haul railways in China. In this study, based on the influences of the loading sequence and the interaction between adjacent loads, a modified nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation model under the steady‐state wheel–rail contact was developed to predict the coexistence of wear growth and head check (HC) initiation. A twin‐roller fatigue test was designed and performed, and the testing data were compared with the predicted data to verify the established model. Compared with the linear model, the nonlinear model yielded the faster fatigue damage with an HC initiation life of 2.58 × 105 wheel cycles, which was 24.34% less than that of the linear model. In addition, the HC initiation lives obtained from the nonlinear and linear models were close to the median and upper limits observed in the field, respectively. The results of the linear and nonlinear models were respectively 41.3% and 22.5% higher than the two‐round test results. The result of the nonlinear model was closer to the two‐round test result of 2 × 105. Technical trading rules have been widely used by practitioners in financial markets for a long time. The profitability remains controversial and few consider the stationarity of technical indicators used in trading rules. We convert MA, KDJ and Bollinger bands into stationary processes and investigate the profitability of these trading rules by using 3 high-frequency data(15s,30s and 60s) of CSI300 Stock Index Futures from January 4th 2012 to December 31st 2016. Several performance and risk measures are adopted to assess the practical value of all trading rules directly while ADF-test is used to verify the stationarity and SPA test to check whether trading rules perform well due to intrinsic superiority or pure luck. The results show that there are several significant combinations of parameters for each indicator when transaction costs are not taken into consideration. As a sustainable transportation mode, high-speed railway (HSR) has become an efficient way to meet the huge travel demand. However, due to the high acquisition and maintenance cost, it is impossible to build enough infrastructure and purchase enough train-sets. Great efforts are required to improve the transport capability of HSR. The utilization efficiency of train-sets (carrying tools of HSR) is one of the most important factors of the transport capacity of HSR. In order to enhance the utilization efficiency of the train-sets, this paper proposed a train-set circulation optimization model to minimize the total connection time. An innovative two-stage approach which contains segments generation and segments combination was designed to solve this model. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed approach, an experiment was carried out in the Beijing-Tianjin passenger dedicated line, to fulfill a 174 trips train diagram. The model results showed that compared with the traditional Ant Colony Algorithm (ACA), the utilization efficiency of train-sets can be increased from 43.4% (ACA) to 46.9% (Two-Stage), and 1 train-set can be saved up to fulfill the same transportation tasks. The approach proposed in the study is faster and more stable than the traditional ones, by using which, the HSR staff can draw up the train-sets circulation plan more quickly and the utilization efficiency of the HSR system is also improved. Breast cancer (BC) patients in China suffered from a variety of psychology stress such as perceived stress and anxiety, posttraumatic growth (PTG) as a positive factor could promote their psychology health and quality of life. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) on promoting PTG, decreasing perceived stress and anxiety of Chinese BC patients. A randomized controlled trial of 60 BC patients (Stages I–III) was conducted. They were randomly divided to the 8-week MBSR group or usual care (UC) group. PTG inventory, Perceived Stress Scale of Chinese version (CPSS) and State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) evaluated the PTG level, perceived stress and anxiety at three times(before intervention-T1, after intervention-T2 and follow up at 3 months-T3). A repeated-measures analysis of variance model was used to compare each outcome measure of two groups at the three times. There was one patient discontinued the intervention and one lose to follow up in MBSR group, finally 58 BC patients completed the research. There was no difference between two groups before the intervention. The results showed significant improvements in MBSR group comparing with the UC group that PTG level was much higher after the 8-week intervention and the follow up (F = 34.73,p < .00). At the same time, CPSS (F = 14.41,p < .00) and STAI (F = 15.24,p < .00) scores were significant decreased at T2 and T3. The results showed that MBSR promoted the level of PTG and decreased perceived stress and anxiety state of Chinese BC patients, and the results persisted at three months after intervention. Aerosol direct radiative forcing (ADRF) has substantial impacts on regional and global climate changes, whereas it remains one of the largest uncertainties among various climate forcing factors. The 40-year detailed clear-sky ADRFs over China from 1981 to 2020 are systematically studied based on the MERRA-2 satellite reanalysis data, which hopefully benefit for the evaluation of the performances of aerosol-climate models. The clear-sky shortwave ADRFs show diverse spatial distributions with strong top of atmosphere (TOA) and surface cooling and atmospheric heating over the Taklamakan desert, eastern China, and southern China. A high clear-sky longwave surface ADRF reaching ∼6.5 W/m2 over dust source regions is found, and continuous increase of ADRFs over the Taklamakan desert during the past four decades may indicate that dust episodes therein are becoming severe. The mean clear-sky shortwave surface, TOA and atmospheric ADRFs, and longwave surface ADRF over China during 1981–2020 are found to be −12.3, −5.1, 7.2, and 1.0 W/m2, respectively. The seasonality of clear-sky ADRFs shows strongest mean values in spring, moderate forcings in summer and fall, and weakest levels in winter. The monthly average clear-sky surface and TOA ADRFs over China vary by approximately twofold, ranging the weakest values of −7.8 and −3.9 W/m2 in December to the strongest −17.6 and −7.1 W/m2 in April, respectively. Distinctive seasonal and monthly patterns of clear-sky ADRFs are generally seen among the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Tarim Basin in China, while the monthly ADRF patterns over a typical area of these four regions are similar during four different decades. The clear-sky ADRFs over China are highly correlated with aerosol optical thickness, and dust has strong influences on clear-sky shortwave aerosol direct radiative forcing among column aerosol compositions. Atmospheric dry deposition of black carbon (BC) is a significant but poorly understood and inadequately described process in aerosol-climate models. The 40-year detailed dry deposition velocities of hydrophilic BC over China from 1981 to 2020 were systematically studied based on the MERRA-2 reanalysis data, which hopefully will be beneficial for its applications in atmospheric systems for climate and air quality. The average dry deposition flux of hydrophilic BC over China was 0.00059 ± 0.00014 μg m−2 s−1, while its dry deposition velocity was estimated to be 0.00051 ± 0.00004 m s−1. The monthly mean dry deposition fluxes of hydrophilic BC varied nearly 1.5 fold, ranging from the lowest 0.00046 ± 0.00011 μg m−2 s−1 in August to the highest 0.00068 ± 0.00019 μg m−2 s−1 in January. The spring season had the highest mean dry deposition flux of hydrophilic BC, followed by summer and winter, whereas autumn showed relatively weaker dry deposition flux. The mean dry deposition velocities of hydrophilic BC over the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Tibet Plateau were estimated to be 0.00042 ± 0.00004, 0.00042 ± 0.00004, 0.00051 ± 0.00006 and 0.00078 ± 0.00005 m s−1, respectively. The monthly and seasonal patterns of dry deposition velocities of hydrophilic BC differed from each other in different regions, and high air temperature or surface wind speed seemed to fortify dry deposition velocities of hydrophilic BC. • Food reward is a contributing factor to eating disorders and obesity. • Meal-induced changes in fNIRS activation were associated with food reward (LFPQ-CH) • fNIRS combined with LFPQ-CH predicted food intake and eating behaviour traits. • LFPQ-CH with fNIRS are valid complementary tools for food reward in Chinese adults. Adverse neurobehavioral responses to food could be one of the contributing factors to obesity in China, which is a major public health issue. There is a need for methodologies to better understand the cognitive processes and neural mechanisms underlying eating behaviors. This study investigated neurobehavioral markers of food preference and reward in pre- and post-meal states, and their association with eating behaviors in young Chinese adults. Chinese adults (N = 80: 39 male) completed the Leeds Food Preference Questionnaire (LFPQ-CH), and a Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) Visual Food Cues Paradigm before and after an ad libitum test meal. The Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ) and VAS appetite scores were used to measure appetitive traits and states. Results showed that categorisation of foods along dimensions of sweetness and fat content were valid for the general population in China. Changes in food preferences and increased dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) activation to high-fat savoury (HFSA) food were shown following a test meal. LFPQ-CH and fNIRS variables were able to predict unique variance in ad libitum food intake and DEBQ traits. The current results support the use of LFPQ-CH with fNIRS as valid and complementary tools for the neurobehavioral evaluation of food reward and preference. Influences of meteorological factors on the carbon fluxes of a forest ecosystem can vary with time scales. While many studies were made on daily to annual variations of measured carbon flux of forest ecosystems, few were conducted on the variations of observed carbon fluxes over longer (decadal or more) time scale. This study quantified the influences of meteorological variables on the measured carbon fluxes in a Quercus variabilis plantation from 2006 to 2021 using principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA). PCA was used to identify the most important meteorological variables. They are monthly mean daily maximum global radiation (Rg), monthly effective accumulated temperature (Tac), monthly mean daily maximum vapor pressure deficit (VPD), and monthly precipitation (PP). CA was used to group 192 observed months into four groups based on those four meteorological variables and their effects on the observed carbon fluxes. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was then used to quantify the relative importance and direct or indirect effects of those four meteorological factors on carbon fluxes at the interannual timescale in each of the four groups. The results showed that air temperature had dominant influence on net ecosystem productivity (NEP) and ecosystem respiration (Re) with its relative importance measured by standardized coefficients (SC) of 0.59 and 0.97, respectively. PP directly impacted gross primary production (GPP) with an SC of 0.40 and indirectly influenced NEP and Re. The importance of a given meteorological factor on carbon fluxes and the dominant meteorological factors varied among the four groups. Tac mainly influenced Re with a SC of 0.79 in Group 1 (the nongrowing season). The direct effects of PP on NEP and GPP and indirect effects on Re were most prominent in Group 2 (the transition stage between the nongrowing season and the growing season). Tac and PP had greater influences than other two variables in Group 3 (the transitional stage of early growth and vigorous growth and the transitional stage of steady growth and dormant period). NEP increased with Tac, while excessive rainy weather accompanied by a decrease in temperature and radiation reduced Re and GPP in Group 4 (the wet season). The short-term seasonal droughts with warm air temperatures but little precipitation (mainly in June) led to significant reductions in both GPP and NEP of the Quercus variabilis plantation ecosystem in the warm-temperate continental monsoon climate zone. Climate change represents a vital challenge in foxtail millet (Panicum italicum L.) production for assuring development of foxtail millet and obtaining high yields in semi-arid and arid regions of China. The objective of this study was to show the impact of climate change on water use efficiency (WUE) of foxtail millet in dry-land areas of China. The study included yield of foxtail millet, soil water content, rainfall, and temperature data of three experimental sites between 1978 and 2007. All data was provided by the meteorological and agricultural administration centers of every location. The results showed that in Pingliang, Yulin, and Huhehot accumulated temperatures increased by 502, 541, and 857 °C; rainfall decreased by 75.0, 84.3, and 162.5 mm; WUE of foxtail millet increased by about 0.3 kg ha-1 mm-1 when accumulated temperature increased by 100 °C; rainfall decreased by 100 mm, which increased WUE of foxtail millet by about 1.2 kg ha-1 mm-1. Coefficient of variation (CV) of accumulated temperature and CV of rainfall in Pingliang, Yulin, and Huhehot increased as latitudes of these locations moved up. Average WUE of foxtail millet in these locations increased when CV of accumulated temperature or CV of rainfall moved up. In this paper, we investigate the high-frequency cross-correlation relationship between Chinese treasury futures contracts and treasury ETF. We analyze the logarithmic return of these two price series, from which we can conclude that both return series are not normally distributed and the futures markets have greater volatility. We find significant cross-correlation between these two series. We further confirm the relationship using the DCCA coefficient and the DMCA coefficient. We quantify the long-range cross-correlation with DCCA method, and we further show that the relationship is multifractal. Marital concerns can trigger emotional stress, especially among long‐term hospitalised individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, significantly affecting their treatment and recovery. Unfortunately, rehabilitation programs tend to overlook the marital needs of individuals with diagnosed schizophrenia. This research aimed to investigate the content related to marital concerns of Chinese individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia who were undergoing extended hospitalisation. Fifteen participants diagnosed with schizophrenia were recruited through purposive sampling for face‐to‐face semi‐structured interviews. The gathered data were analysed using Colaizzi's method, revealing three themes: (1) manifestations of marriage‐related concerns, (2) effects of marriage on disease progression, and (3) the need for support from family and the hospital. This study offers new insights into marital concerns among long‐term schizophrenia inpatients and underscores the significance of screening and intervention for such concerns. Purpose. Psychological resilience plays an important role in relieving the psychological distress. However, little is known about its underlying mechanisms. Mental health literacy, an important way to promote mental health, may mediate the effect of psychological resilience on psychological distress. This study aimed to explore the relationship between mental health literacy, psychological resilience, and psychological distress and explore the mediating effect between psychological resilience and psychological distress. Design and Methods. A cross-sectional study design was used. A total of 627 medical students were selected from one university. An electronic questionnaire was administered to collect information on the level of mental health literacy, psychological resilience, and psychological distress. Pearson's correlation analysis was used in analyzing the relationship, and the Bootstrap method was used to test the mediating effects. Findings. Psychological distress significantly negatively correlated with mental health literacy and psychological resilience (P < 0.001). The indirect effect of mental health literacy accounted for 50.43% of the total effect between psychological resilience and psychological distress. Practical Implication. Psychological resilience decreased the level of psychological distress, and this relationship was partially mediated by mental health literacy. These findings showed that efforts aimed at enhancing the mental health literacy may prevent or reduce the prevalence of psychological distress symptoms among college students. Rice black-streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV) causes maize rough dwarf disease or rice black-streaked dwarf disease and can lead to severe yield losses in maize and rice. To analyse RBSDV evolution, codon usage bias and genetic structure were investigated in 111 maize and rice RBSDV isolates from eight geographic locations in 2013 and 2014. The linear dsRNA S7 is A+U rich, with overall codon usage biased toward codons ending with A (A3s, S7-1: 32.64%, S7-2: 29.95%) or U (U3s, S7-1: 44.18%, S7-2: 46.06%). Effective number of codons (Nc) values of 45.63 in S7-1 (the first open reading frame of S7) and 39.96 in S7-2 (the second open reading frame of S7) indicate low degrees of RBSDV-S7 codon usage bias, likely driven by mutational bias regardless of year, host, or geographical origin. Twelve optimal codons were detected in S7. The nucleotide diversity (π) of S7 sequences in 2013 isolates (0.0307) was significantly higher than in 2014 isolates (0.0244, P = 0.0226). The nucleotide diversity (π) of S7 sequences in isolates from Jinan (0.0391) was higher than that from the other seven locations (P < 0.01). Only one S7 recombinant was detected in Baoding. RBSDV isolates could be phylogenetically classified into two groups according to S7 sequences, and further classified into two subgroups. S7-1 and S7-2 were under negative and purifying selection, with respective Ka/Ks ratios of 0.0179 and 0.0537. These RBSDV populations were expanding (P < 0.01) as indicated by negative values for Tajima's D, Fu and Li's D, and Fu and Li's F. Genetic differentiation was detected in six RBSDV subpopulations (P < 0.05). Absolute Fst (0.0790) and Nm (65.12) between 2013 and 2014, absolute Fst (0.1720) and Nm (38.49) between maize and rice, and absolute Fst values of 0.0085-0.3069 and Nm values of 0.56-29.61 among these eight geographic locations revealed frequent gene flow between subpopulations. Studies of global production networks have made great strides in understanding the dominant organizations of global production but so far have only offered limited insights on mitigating risks inherited by being a part of such networks under the condition of crises in the world’s wealthiest regions. Drawing from the literature of regional resilience, this paper examines the performance of Chinese Information Communication Technology firms before and after the financial crisis of 2008 with the aim to identify differentiated impacts and the firms’ and region's ability to deal with shocks under the crisis conditions. The research looks into how market portfolios and technological levels affect firm performance based on primary data from two large-scale firm-level surveys conducted before and after the 2008 financial crisis. I found that while the 2008 crisis primarily affected demands outside China, its impacts did not stop at firms or regions specializing in export. Domestic market-oriented firms also suffered from the shock, and mixed-market firms performed the best during the crisis. Technological levels did not have a clear impact on firm performance during the crisis. While the two surveys cover only a short time horizon, the comparison highlights the entrenched nature of the production networks and underscores the importance of creating and maintaining structural diversity and multiple market relations to survive the new “normal” of the volatile globalized industry. Rice black-streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV) is an economically important virus that causes maize rough dwarf disease and rice black-streaked dwarf disease in East Asia. To study RBSDV variation and recombination, we examined the segment 9 (S9) sequences of 49 RBSDV isolates from maize and rice in China. Three S9 recombinants were detected in Baoding, Jinan, and Jining, China. Phylogenetic analysis showed that Chinese RBSDV isolates could be classified into two groups based on their S9 sequences, regardless of host or geographical origin. Background After more than 10 years without a case of wild poliovirus (WPV) in China, an outbreak occurred in 2011 in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Methods Acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) case surveillance was strengthened with epidemiological investigations and specimen collection and serological surveys were conducted among hospitalized patients. Results There were 21 WPV cases and 23 clinical compatible polio cases reported. WPV was isolated from 14 contacts of AFP cases and 13 in the healthy population. Incidence of WPV and clinical compatible polio cases were both highest among children <1 years, however, 24/44 (54.5%) polio cases were reported among adults aged 15-39 years. Conclusions High coverage of routine immunization should be maintained among children until WPV transmission is globally eradicated. Expansion of AFP case surveillance and use of serologic surveys to estimate population immunity should be conducted rapidly to guide preparedness and response planning for future WPV outbreaks.
