The article presents the results of a survey on the agreement between Spanish universities and their libraries on the subject of ‘university social responsibility’ (USR). The analysis was conducted with qualitative and quantitative methods and focused on the institutional websites of Spanish universities and their libraries. It highlighted how only few Spanish university libraries have implemented USR policies and, where this has happened, there is also a link with the USR policies of the institutions to which they belong. Even when they apply USR policies, in the majority of cases university libraries do not carry out a preliminary planning of their own USR activities. On the contrary, they implement isolated measures that are in line with the plan promoted by their university. Furthermore, for the purpose of implementing the USR, university libraries show that they pay attention to the guidelines proposed at national level by the Red de Bibliotecas Universitarias Españolas (Rebiun). The purpose of this work is to check if the libraries of the universities of Madrid and Catalonia offer the use of some of their spaces as a library service. The information of the websites of the libraries is studied and a questionnaire is sent to the libraries that do not have this information. The analyzed aspects are: quantity and variety of spaces, use or not use of the websites to promote the offer of this type of services, location of this information on the websites and content provided. Among the results of the analysis of the 30 universities studied, it has been proven, for example, that 23 universities offer some of their library spaces as a service, of which 20 indicate it on the websites of the libraries; that the variety of spaces offered includes 26 different types, highlighting for their greater presence the space available for group work (21 universities), individual and / or silence work spaces (12 universities) or computer spaces (10 universities), etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This compilation and analysis of the initiatives related to social responsibility and sustainability in 71 Spanish university libraries obtained information primarily from web sites and print materials: activities reports, brochures, strategic plans and collection management documents. To organise and analyse the information, a list of 5 categories was developed, covering 21 elements. In 61 (85.9%) of the universities analysed, some type of library activity related to social responsibility and sustainability was identified. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
