Soil classification in civil engineering is a system of regulating several different types of soil but having similar properties into groups and subgroups based on their use. The S-CPT cannot be expected to provide accurate predictions of soil type based on physical characteristics, such as, grain size distribution but provide a guide to the mechanical characteristics (strength, stiffness, compressibility) of the soil, or the soil behavior type (SBT). Based on the results of research and analysis, it is concluded that ; type of soil at the study site is dominated by clay soil, which is interspersed with silt soil and a small layer of sandy soil with non-uniform grain.
