Change detection is an essential and widely utilized task in remote sensing that aims to detect and analyze changes occurring in the same geographical area over time, which has broad applications in urban development, agricultural surveys, and land cover monitoring. Detecting changes in remote sensing images is a complex challenge due to various factors, including variations in image quality, noise, registration errors, illumination changes, complex landscapes, and spatial heterogeneity. In recent years, deep learning has emerged as a powerful tool for feature extraction and addressing these challenges. Its versatility has resulted in its widespread adoption for numerous image-processing tasks. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of significant advancements in change detection for remote sensing images over the past decade. We first introduce some preliminary knowledge for the change detection task, such as problem definition, datasets, evaluation metrics, and transformer basics, as well as provide a detailed taxonomy of existing algorithms from three different perspectives: algorithm granularity, supervision modes, and frameworks in the Methodology section. This survey enables readers to gain systematic knowledge of change detection tasks from various angles. We then summarize the state-of-the-art performance on several dominant change detection datasets, providing insights into the strengths and limitations of existing algorithms. Based on our survey, some future research directions for change detection in remote sensing are well identified. The existing change detection methods are difficult to balance local features and global features, and the boundary between change objects and backgrounds is blurred, so this paper proposed a remote sensing image building change detection method based on local-global feature coupling and boundary guidance. In the encoding stage, the method adopted parallel convolutional neural network and Transformer to extract the local features and global representation of remote sensing images, respectively. At different scales, the local-global feature coupling module fused local features and global feature representation to enhance the expression ability of image features. In addition, it introduced the boundary guidance branch to obtain the prior boundary information of the change objects, so that its guide change map can highlight the structural characteristics of the building and promote the accurate boundary location. This paper conducted experiments on the LEVIR-CD and WHU datasets, resulting in F1-score of 91.25% and 91.27%, IoU of 83.90% and 83.95%, respectively. The aim of the paper is to introduce appropriate tools for quantifying the changes occurred at edge level when analyzing land cover changes. The research is conducted in two directions. Firstly, the binary change index at edge level is introduced and its relationship to the already existing binary change edge (computed at pixel level) is studied. It is proved that a certain inequality between the values of the two indices holds. The theoretical part is completed with real-world examples. The second direction investigated in the paper is the possibility of applying Markov type models, a basic tool in land cover change analysis, in quantifying the changes occurred at edge level. This combined approach is illustrated by a case study and it is shown that it provides complementary information related to the spatial extension of the land cover types and to their distribution. High-definition (HD) maps serve as crucial infrastructure for autonomous driving technology, facilitating vehicles in positioning, environmental perception, and motion planning without being affected by weather changes or sensor-visibility limitations. Maintaining precision and freshness in HD maps is paramount, as delayed or inaccurate information can significantly impact the safety of autonomous vehicles. Utilizing crowdsourced data for HD map updating is widely recognized as a superior method for preserving map accuracy and freshness. Although it has garnered considerable attention from researchers, there remains a lack of comprehensive exploration into the entire process of updating HD maps through crowdsourcing. For this reason, it is imperative to review and discuss crowdsourcing techniques. This paper aims to provide an overview of the overall process of crowdsourced updates, followed by a detailed examination and comparison of existing methodologies concerning the key techniques of data collection, information extraction, and change detection. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology has become an important means of flood monitoring because of its large coverage, repeated observation, and all-weather and all-time working capabilities. The commonly used thresholding and change detection methods in emergency monitoring can quickly and simply detect floods. However, these methods still have some problems: (1) thresholding methods are easily affected by low backscattering regions and speckle noise; (2) changes from multi-temporal information include urban renewal and seasonal variation, reducing the precision of flood monitoring. To solve these problems, this paper presents a new flood mapping framework that combines semi-automatic thresholding and change detection. First, multiple lines across land and water are drawn manually, and their local optimal thresholds are calculated automatically along these lines from two ends towards the middle. Using the average of these thresholds, the low backscattering regions are extracted to generate a preliminary inundation map. Then, the neighborhood-based change detection method combined with entropy thresholding is adopted to detect the changed areas. Finally, pixels in both the low backscattering regions and the changed regions are marked as inundated terrain. Two flood datasets, one from Sentinel-1 in the Wharfe and Ouse River basin and another from GF-3 in Chaohu are chosen to verify the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method. In this paper, a novel change detection algorithm is proposed for the remote sensing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. Change detection in SAR images is one of the critical tasks in the field of remote sensing as the images contain significant speckle noise and illumination variations. In order to address these issues, a novel change detection algorithm is proposed using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DTW) and Differential Evaluation (DE). At first, the DWT is utilized to remove the speckle noise from the images. Then, a DE optimization-based Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm is proposed to detect the changes in SAR images. The proposed method can give comparatively better correct classification values, and lesser false alarm as well as total error values than the recently developed change detection methods. Due to the widespread applications of change detection technology in urban change analysis, environmental monitoring, agricultural surveillance, disaster detection, and other domains, the task of change detection has become one of the primary applications of Earth orbit satellite remote sensing data. However, the analysis of dual-temporal change detection (CD) remains a challenge in high-resolution optical remote sensing images due to the complexities in remote sensing images, such as intricate textures, seasonal variations in imaging time, climatic differences, and significant differences in the sizes of various objects. In this paper, we propose a novel U-shaped architecture for change detection. In the encoding stage, a multi-branch feature extraction module is employed by combining CNN and transformer networks to enhance the network's perception capability for objects of varying sizes. Furthermore, a multi-branch aggregation module is utilized to aggregate features from different branches, providing the network with global attention while preserving detailed information. For dual-temporal features, we introduce a spatiotemporal discrepancy perception module to model the context of dual-temporal images. Particularly noteworthy is the construction of channel attention and token attention modules based on the transformer attention mechanism to facilitate information interaction between multi-level features, thereby enhancing the network's contextual awareness. The task of change detection (CD) in optical and SAR images is an ever-evolving and demanding subject within the realm of remote sensing (RS). It holds great significance to identify the target areas by using complementary information between the two. Due to the distinct imaging mechanisms employed by optical and SAR sensors, effectively and accurately identifying changing regions can be challenging. To this end, a novel heterogeneous RS images CD network (Twin-Depthwise Separable Convolution Connect Network, TDSCCNet) is proposed in this paper. Image domain transformation is a front-end task, while the back-end employs a single-branch bilayer depthwise separable convolutionconnected encoder-decoder to accomplish CD work. Specifically, first, the cycle-consistent adversarial network (CycleGAN) serves to integrate the optical and SAR visual domains, and a consistent feature expression is obtained. Second, the single-branch encoder structure of bilayer depthwise separable convolution is employed to realize change feature extraction. Finally, the multiscale connected decoder reconstructed by change map is utilized to reconstruct the original images and solve the local discontinuities and holes in the binary change map. Multiscale loss is designated for optimizing the global and local effects to alleviate the class imbalance problem. It was tested on four representative datasets from Gloucester, Shuguang Village, Italy and WV-3 datasets with an overall accuracy of 97.36%, 97.01%, 97.62%, and 98.01% respectively. Cropland non-agriculturalization (CNA) refers to the conversion of cropland into construction land, woodland/garden/grassland, water body, or other non-agricultural land, which ultimately disrupts local agroecosystems and the cultivation and production of crops. Remote sensing technology is an important tool for large-area CNA detection, and remote sensing based methods that can be used for this task include the time-series analysis method and change detection from bi-temporal images. In particular, change detection methods using high-resolution remote sensing imagery have great potential for CNA detection, but enormous challenges do still remain. The large intra-class variance of cropland with different phenological stages and planting patterns leads to cropland areas being difficult to identify effectively, while certain features can be misidentified because they are similar to cropland, resulting in false alarms and missed detections in the results. There is also a lack of large-scale CNA datasets covering multiple change scenarios as data support. To address these problems, a lightweight model focused on CNA detection (CNANet) is proposed in this paper. Specifically, the uniquely crafted represent-consist-enhance (RCE) module is seamlessly integrated between the encoder and decoder components of CNANet to perform a contrast operation on the deep features extracted by the feature extractor. The RCE module is specifically designed to aggregate multiple cropland representations and extend the cropland representations from the confusing background, to achieve the purpose of reducing the intra-class reflectance differences and enhancing the model's perception of cropland. In addition, a large-scale high-resolution cropland non-agriculturalization (Hi-CNA) dataset was built for the CNA identification task, with a total of 6797 pairs of 512 × 512 images with semantic annotations. Compared to the existing datasets, the Hi-CNA dataset has the advantages of multiple phenological stages, multiple change scenarios, and multiple annotation types, in addition to the large data volume. The experimental results obtained in this study show that the benchmark methods tested on the Hi-CNA dataset can all achieve a good accuracy, proving the high-quality annotation of the dataset. The overall accuracy and F1-score of CNANet with the default settings reach 93.81 % and 78.9 %, respectively, achieving a superior accuracy, compared to the other benchmark methods, and demonstrating stronger perception of cropland changes. In addition, in two selected verification regions within the large-scale real-world CNA mapping results, the F1-score is 83.61 % and 50.87 %. Heterogeneous image change detection is a very practical and challenging task because the data in the original image have a large distribution difference and the labeled samples of the remote sensing image are usually very few. In this study, we focus on solving the issue of comparing heterogeneous images without supervision. This paper first designs a self-paced multi-scale joint feature mapper (SMJFM) for the mapping of heterogeneous data to similar feature spaces for comparison and incorporates a self-paced learning strategy to weaken the mapper's capture of non-consistent information. Then, the difference information in the output of the mapper is evaluated from two perspectives, namely noise robustness and detail preservation effectiveness; then, the change detection problem is modeled as a multi-objective optimization problem. We decompose this multi-objective optimization problem into several scalar optimization subproblems with different weights, and use particle swarm optimization to optimize these subproblems. Finally, the robust evaluation strategy is used to fuse the multi-scale change information to obtain a high-precision binary change map. Compared with previous methods, the proposed SMJFM framework has the following three main advantages: First, the unsupervised design alleviates the dilemma of few labels in remote sensing images. Secondly, the introduction of self-paced learning enhances SMJFM's capture of the unchanged region mapping relationship between heterogeneous images. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) change detection provides a powerful tool for continuous, reliable, and objective observation of the Earth, supporting a wide range of applications that require regular monitoring and assessment of changes in the natural and built environment. In this paper, we introduce a novel SAR image change detection method based on principal component analysis and two-level clustering. First, two difference images of the log-ratio and mean-ratio operators are computed, then the principal component analysis fusion model is used to fuse the two difference images, and a new difference image is generated. To incorporate contextual information during the feature extraction phase, Gabor wavelets are used to obtain the representation of the difference image across multiple scales and orientations. The maximum magnitude across all orientations at each scale is then concatenated to form the Gabor feature vector. Following this, a cascading clustering algorithm is developed within this discriminative feature space by merging the first-level fuzzy c-means clustering with the second-level neighbor rule. Ultimately, the two-level combination of the changed and unchanged results produces the final change map. Landslide event inventories are one of the most critical datasets to increase knowledge on landslide occurrences. However, they are rarely available in various regions, especially in countries of the Global South. This study aims to generate rainfall-induced landslide event inventories and define the rainfall thresholds responsible for landslide occurrence at the national scale of Malawi, Africa. We mainly followed a three-step methodology to generate landslide inventories. First, we went through media reports to identify documented landslide events. Second, we used Sentinel-2 images to identify possible areas affected by landslides using automated change detection algorithms based on vegetation indices. Third, we manually went through optical images provided by Planet Lab and Google Earth and mapped landslides via visual image interpretation. Overall, we mapped 27 rainfall-induced landslide inventories between 2003 and 2022, with a total of 4709 individual landslides. We then analysed the Malawian terrain and identified two different landscape clusters (i.e. Cluster 1 and Cluster 2) showing similar morphometric and climatic conditions. Ultimately, we calculated the rainfall threshold for each landscape cluster. The minimum rainfall amounts responsible for landsliding correspond to 66 mm/two-day and 51 mm/day in Clusters 1 and 2, respectively. In this context, our paper not only presents and shares the first national-scale, digital rainfall-induced landslide event inventory database of Malawi but also suitable rainfall thresholds to be potentially exploited for a national scale landslide early warning system. The field of (practical) data-driven approaches that utilize the vibration signature of target systems for developing mathematical models (for computational purposes, control, or anomaly detection for structural health monitoring) is still an active research area, despite the fact that several powerful system identification techniques have been developed in the system dynamics field to analyze such measurements. However, there is still a paucity of comprehensive experimental studies that investigate the range of validity of such identification techniques, particularly those applicable to realistic situations encountered in the structural engineering field, with the focus on detecting, quantifying, locating, and classifying observed changes, especially when there are significant inherent nonlinearities in the reference (undamaged) complex target structure, and where there are unavoidable sources of errors and uncertainties in the measurements and the attendant data analysis procedures. The research team constructed a well-instrumented, reconfigurable test apparatus (resembling a tall building) that allows the introduction of quantifiable levels of composite changes at various locations, orientations, and types of linear and/or nonlinear changes, with the aim of investigating a subset of the aforementioned challenges facing researchers who are interested in assessing the utility of some practical system identification approaches. The primary focus of the identification approach is on a decomposition procedure that is ideally suited for certain types of structures that possess some topological features that can be exploited to enhance the detectability of small changes. A companion paper provides a detailed description of the testbed features and its instrumentation. The present paper focuses on the analysis of some of the very extensive data sets that were created to study the usefulness of some practical dimensionless probabilistic measures that not only provide normalized change indices but also simultaneously attach a confidence level to each of these indices. Change detection is crucial for evaluating land use, land cover changes, and sustainable development, constituting a significant component of Earth observation tasks. The difficulty in extracting features from high-resolution images, coupled with the complexity of image content, poses challenges for traditional change detection algorithms in terms of accuracy and applicability. The recent emergence of deep learning methods has led to substantial progress in the field of change detection. However, existing frameworks often involve the simplistic integration of bi-temporal features in specific areas, lacking the fusion of temporal information and semantic details in the images. In this paper, we propose an attention-guided multi-scale fusion network (AMFNet), which effectively integrates bi-temporal image features and diverse semantics at both the encoding and decoding stages. AMFNet utilizes a unique attention-guided mechanism to dynamically adjust feature fusion, enhancing adaptability and accuracy in change detection tasks. Our method intelligently incorporates temporal information into the deep learning model, considering the temporal dependency inherent in these tasks. We decode based on an interactive feature map, which improves the model's understanding of evolving patterns over time. Additionally, we introduce multi-level supervised training to facilitate the learning of fused features across multiple scales. In comparison with different algorithms, our proposed method achieves F1 values of 0.9079, 0.8225, and 0.8809 in the LEVIR-CD, GZ-CD, and SYSU-CD datasets, respectively. Our model outperforms the SOTA model, SAGNet, by 0.69% in terms of F1 and 1.15% in terms of IoU on the LEVIR-CD dataset, by 2.8% in terms of F1 and 1.79% in terms of IoU on the GZ-CD dataset, and by 0.54% in terms of F1 and 0.38% in terms of IoU on the SYSU-CD dataset. Graffiti, by their very nature, are ephemeral, sometimes even vanishing before creators finish them. This transience is part of graffiti's allure yet signifies the continuous loss of this often disputed form of cultural heritage. To counteract this, graffiti documentation efforts have steadily increased over the past decade. One of the primary challenges in any documentation endeavour is identifying and recording new creations. Image‐based change detection can greatly help in this process, effectuating more comprehensive documentation, less biased digital safeguarding and improved understanding of graffiti. This paper introduces a novel and largely automated image‐based graffiti change detection method. The methodology uses an incremental structure‐from‐motion approach and synthetic cameras to generate co‐registered graffiti images from different areas. These synthetic images are fed into a hybrid change detection pipeline combining a new pixel‐based change detection method with a feature‐based one. The approach was tested on a large and publicly available reference dataset captured along the Donaukanal (Eng. Danube Canal), one of Vienna's graffiti hotspots. With a precision of 87% and a recall of 77%, the results reveal that the proposed change detection workflow can indicate newly added graffiti in a monitored graffiti‐scape, thus supporting a more comprehensive graffiti documentation. Cultivated land plays a fundamental role in the sustainable development of the world. Monitoring the non-agricultural changes is important for the development of land-use policies. A bitemporal image transformer (BIT) can achieve high accuracy for change detection (CD) tasks and also become a key scientific tool to support decision-making. Because of the diversity of high-resolution RSIs in series, the complexity of agricultural types, and the irregularity of hierarchical semantics in different types of changes, the accuracy of non-agricultural CD is far below the need for the management of the land and for resource planning. In this paper, we proposed a novel non-agricultural CD method to improve the accuracy of machine processing. First, multi-resource surveying data are collected to produce a well-tagged dataset with cultivated land and non-agricultural changes. Secondly, a hierarchical semantic aggregation mechanism and attention module (HSAA) bitemporal image transformer method named HSAA-CD is performed for non-agricultural CD in cultivated land. The proposed HSAA-CD added a hierarchical semantic aggregation mechanism for clustering the input data for U-Net as the backbone network and an attention module to improve the feature edge. Experiments were performed on the open-source LEVIR-CD and WHU Building-CD datasets as well as on the self-built RSI dataset. The F1-score, intersection over union (IoU), and overall accuracy (OA) of these three datasets were 88.56%, 84.29%, and 68.50%; 79.84%, 73.41%, and 59.29%; and 98.83%, 98.39%, and 93.56%, respectively. The results indicated that the proposed HSAA-CD method outperformed the BIT and some other state-of-the-art methods and proved to be suitable accuracy for non-agricultural CD in cultivated land. Metropolitan planning has been a dominant trend in spatial development for decades. In this context, Functional Urban Areas (FUAs) have emerged as a concept to illustrate the economic interdependencies between an urban core and its hinterland, being typically determined by commuting patterns or accessibility criteria. In Romania, FUAs were defined for the county capitals (40 cities) as areas where urban development projects could be financed from regional development funds. This paper analyzes the territorial dynamics in one of Romania's fastest-growing functional urban areas, Cluj-Napoca, using a comparative analysis of satellite images and selected indicators. The results demonstrate the spatial impact of economic development in the past 20 years, revealing expanding boundaries of artificial surface and housing units in FUAs. Unfortunately, the current fragmented territorial configuration is unable to manage the new functional relationships generated by real estate dynamics. Therefore, we support the need to introduce a normative territorial plan at the intercommunity level to correlate the spatial development vision between the main city and its fast-growing suburban areas. Such an instrument will not only support an efficient land-use management and enhanced living conditions, but it will also provide a framework to systematically integrate territorial investments around major cities. Change detection is widely used in the field of building monitoring. In recent years, the progress of remote sensing image technology has provided high-resolution data. However, unlike other tasks, change detection focuses on the difference between dual-input images, so the interaction between bi-temporal features is crucial. However, the existing methods have not fully tapped the potential of multi-scale bi-temporal features to interact layer by layer. Therefore, this paper proposes a multi-scale feature interaction network (MFINet). The network realizes the information interaction of multi-temporal images by inserting a bi-temporal feature interaction layer (BFIL) between backbone networks at the same level, guides the attention to focus on the difference region, and suppresses the interference. At the same time, a double temporal feature fusion layer (BFFL) is used at the end of the coding layer to extract subtle difference features. By introducing the transformer decoding layer and improving the recovery effect of the feature size, the ability of the network to accurately capture the details and contour information of the building is further improved. The F1 of our model on the public dataset LEVIR-CD reaches 90.12%, which shows better accuracy and generalization performance than many state-of-the-art change detection models. Natural hazards are considered to have a strong link with climate change and human activities. With the rapid advancements in remote sensing technology, real-time monitoring and high-resolution remote-sensing images have become increasingly available, which provide precise details about the Earth's surface and enable prompt updates to support risk identification and management. This paper proposes a new network framework with Transformer architecture and a Residual network for detecting the changes in high-resolution remote-sensing images. The proposed model is trained using remote-sensing images from Shandong and Anhui Provinces of China in 2021 and 2022 while one district in 2023 is used to test the prediction accuracy. The performance of the proposed model is evaluated by using five matrices and further compared to both convention-based and attention-based models. The results demonstrated that the proposed structure integrates the great capability of conventional neural networks for image feature extraction with the ability to obtain global context from the attention mechanism, resulting in significant improvements in balancing positive sample identification while avoiding false positives in complex image change detection. This paper introduces an AI-based approach to detect human-made objects and changes in these on land parcels. To this end, we used binary image classification performed by a convolutional neural network. Binary classification requires the selection of a decision boundary, and we provided a deterministic method for this selection. Furthermore, we varied different parameters to improve the performance of our approach, leading to a true positive rate of 91.3% and a true negative rate of 63.0%. A specific application of our work supports the administration of agricultural land parcels eligible for subsidiaries. Change detection in remote sensing imagery is vital for Earth monitoring but faces challenges such as background complexity and pseudo-changes. Effective interaction between bitemporal images is crucial for accurate change information extraction. This paper presents a multistage interaction network designed for effective change detection, incorporating interaction at the image, feature, and decision levels. At the image level, change information is directly extracted from intensity changes, mitigating potential change information loss during feature extraction. Instead of separately extracting features from bitemporal images, the feature-level interaction jointly extracts features from bitemporal images. By enhancing relevance to spatial variant information and shared semantic channels, the network excels in overcoming background complexity and pseudo-changes. The decision-level interaction combines image-level and feature-level interactions, producing multiscale feature differences for precise change prediction. The natural terrain (e.g., farm and forest) in temperate zones changes dramatically between seasons due to distinct temperatures and precipitation variations from summer to winter. Moreover, built-up areas vary little in this short period. Therefore, extracting built-up areas via change detection on polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) images is feasible. A common type of PolSAR change detection method is based on hypothesis testing theory. However, in these methods, pixels are selected as the processing units; as a result, these models are computationally complex and poorly maintain the boundaries of built-up areas. In this paper, we innovatively introduce superpixels into the hypothesis test theory and propose a superpixelwise PolSAR change detection method for built-up area extraction. First, we oversegment the PolSAR images into a set of superpixels and derive the probability density function (PDF) of a superpixel's reflectivity on a PolSAR image. Based on this distribution, we present a superpixelwise likelihood-ratio test (LRT) statistic to measure the similarity of two superpixelwise covariance matrices for unsupervised change detection. When actually computing the superpixelwise LRT, the large variation in the areas of the superpixels makes the likelihood functions very complex and estimating the parameters difficult. We further simplify the calculation of the LRT statistic and apply it to built-up area extraction. Compared to the state-of-the-art built-up area extraction methods, our approach provides the best results with overall accuracy values of 91.41%, 92.71%, 93.67% and 93.91% for the four studied areas respectively. In addition, the computational complexity of our method is assessed, and the run time (seconds) of the proposed method in the four study cases is 11.14, 6.32, 5.31, and 4.88, respectively, superior to the values of 66.12, 36.26, 33.65, and 29.67 for DRT, respectively. Remote sensing images change detection technology has become a popular tool for monitoring the change type, area, and distribution of land cover, including cultivated land, forest land, photovoltaic, roads, and buildings. However, traditional methods which rely on pre-annotation and on-site verification are time-consuming and challenging to meet timeliness requirements. With the emergence of artificial intelligence, this paper proposes an automatic change detection model and a crowdsourcing collaborative framework. The framework uses human-in-the-loop technology and an active learning approach to transform the manual interpretation method into a human-machine collaborative intelligent interpretation method. This low-cost and high-efficiency framework aims to solve the problem of weak model generalization caused by the lack of annotated data in change detection. The proposed framework can effectively incorporate expert domain knowledge and reduce the cost of data annotation while improving model performance. To ensure data quality, a crowdsourcing quality control model is constructed to evaluate the annotation qualification of the annotators and check their annotation results. Furthermore, a prototype of automatic detection and crowdsourcing collaborative annotation management platform is developed, which integrates annotation, crowdsourcing quality control, and change detection applications. The problem of change detection in remote sensing image processing is both difficult and important. It is extensively used in a variety of sectors, including land resource planning, monitoring and forecasting of agricultural plant health, and monitoring and assessment of natural disasters. Remote sensing images provide a large amount of long-term and fully covered data for earth environmental monitoring. A lot of progress has been made thanks to deep learning's quick development. But the majority of deep learning-based change detection techniques currently in use rely on the well-known Convolutional neural network (CNN). However, considering the locality of convolutional operation, CNN unable to master the interplay between global and distant semantic information. Some researches has employ Vision Transformer as a backbone in remote sensing field. Inspired by these researches, in this paper, we propose a network named Siam-Swin-Unet, which is a Siamesed pure Transformer with U-shape construction for remote sensing image change detection. Swin Transformer is a hierarchical vision transformer with shifted windows that can extract global feature. To learn local and global semantic feature information, the dual-time image are fed into Siam-Swin-Unet which is composed of Swin Transformer, Unet Siamesenet and two feature fusion module. Considered the Unet and Siamesenet are effective for change detection, We applied it to the model. The feature fusion module is designed for fusion of dual-time image features, and is efficient and low-compute confirmed by our experiments. Change detection in remote sensing enables identifying alterations in surface characteristics over time, underpinning diverse applications. However, conventional pixel-based algorithms encounter constraints in terms of accuracy when applied to medium- and high-resolution remote sensing images. Although object-oriented methods offer a step forward, they frequently grapple with missing small objects or handling complex features effectively. To bridge these gaps, this paper proposes an unsupervised object-oriented change detection approach empowered by hierarchical multi-scale segmentation for generating binary ecosystem change maps. This approach meticulously segments images into optimal sizes and leverages multidimensional features to adapt the Iteratively Reweighted Multivariate Alteration Detection (IRMAD) algorithm for GaoFen WFV data. We rigorously evaluated its performance in the Yellow River Source Region, a critical ecosystem conservation zone. The results unveil three key strengths: (1) the approach achieved excellent object-level change detection results, making it particularly suited for identifying changes in subtle features; (2) while simply increasing object features did not lead to a linear accuracy gain, optimized feature space construction effectively mitigated dimensionality issues; and (3) the scalability of our approach is underscored by its success in mapping the entire Yellow River Source Region, achieving an overall accuracy of 90.09% and F-score of 0.8844. Furthermore, our analysis reveals that from 2015 to 2022, changed ecosystems comprised approximately 1.42% of the total area, providing valuable insights into regional ecosystem dynamics. Change detection (CD) stands out as a pivotal yet challenging task in the interpretation of remote sensing images. Significant developments have been witnessed, particularly with the rapid advancements in deep learning techniques. Nevertheless, challenges such as incomplete detection targets and unsmooth boundaries remain as most CD methods suffer from ineffective feature fusion. Therefore, this paper presents a multi-scale gated fusion network (MSGFNet) to improve the accuracy of CD results. To effectively extract bi-temporal features, the EfficientNetB4 model based on a Siamese network is employed. Subsequently, we propose a multi-scale gated fusion module (MSGFM) that comprises a multi-scale progressive fusion (MSPF) unit and a gated weight adaptive fusion (GWAF) unit, aimed at fusing bi-temporal multi-scale features to maintain boundary details and detect completely changed targets. Finally, we use the simple yet efficient UNet structure to recover the feature maps and predict results. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the MSGFNet, the LEVIR-CD, WHU-CD, and SYSU-CD datasets were utilized, and the MSGFNet achieved F1 scores of 90.86%, 92.46%, and 80.39% on the three datasets, respectively. Change detection (CD) in remote sensing imagery has found broad applications in ecosystem service assessment, disaster evaluation, urban planning, land utilization, etc. In this paper, we propose a novel graph model-based method for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image CD. To mitigate the influence of speckle noise on SAR image CD, we opt for comparing the structures of multi-temporal images instead of the conventional approach of directly comparing pixel values, which is more robust to the speckle noise. Specifically, we first segment the multi-temporal images into square patches at multiple scales and construct multi-scale K-nearest neighbor (KNN) graphs for each image, and then develop an effective graph fusion strategy, facilitating the exploitation of multi-scale information within SAR images, which offers an enhanced representation of the complex relationships among features in the images. Second, we accomplish the interaction of spatio-temporal-radiometric information between graph models through graph mapping, which can efficiently uncover the connections between multi-temporal images, leading to a more precise extraction of changes between the images. Finally, we use the Markov random field (MRF) based segmentation method to obtain the binary change map. Multimodal change detection (MCD) combines multiple remote sensing data sources to realize surface change monitoring, which is essential for disaster evaluation and environmental monitoring. However, due to the 'incomparable' features in multimodal data, traditional change detection methods for unimodal (homogenous) data no longer apply. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel MCD method with global structure graph mapping (GSGM) which extracts the 'comparable' structural features between multimodal datasets and constructs a global structure graph (GSG) to express the structure information for each of the multi-temporal images, which are then cross-mapped to the other data domain. The change intensity (CI) is determined by measuring the change of GSGs after mapping and the differences between GSGs and mapped GSGs. The forward and backward CI maps (CIMs) are then fused with the latent low-rank representation method (LLRR), and the change map (CM) is obtained by threshold segmentation. Change detection is a crucial task in remote sensing that finds broad application in land resource planning, forest resource monitoring, natural disaster monitoring, and evaluation. In this paper, we propose a change detection model for cross-domain recognition, which we call CrossCDNet. Our model significantly improves the modeling ability of the change detection on one dataset and demonstrates good generalization on another dataset without any additional operations. To achieve this, we employ a Siamese neural network for change detection and design an IBNM (Instance Normalization and Batch Normalization Module) that utilizes instance normalization and batch normalization in order to serve as the encoder backbone in the Siamese neural network. The IBNM extracts feature maps for each layer, and the Siamese neural network fuses the feature maps of the two branches using a unique operation. Finally, a simple MLP decoder is used for end-to-end change detection. We train our model on the LEVIR-CD dataset and achieve competitive performance on the test set. In cross-domain dataset testing, CrossCDNet outperforms all the other compared models. Detecting and monitoring changes in open-pit mines is crucial for efficient mining operations. Indeed, these changes comprise a broad spectrum of activities that can often lead to significant environmental impacts such as surface damage, air pollution, soil erosion, and ecosystem degradation. Conventional optical sensors face limitations due to cloud cover, hindering accurate observation of the mining area. To overcome this challenge, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images have emerged as a powerful solution, due to their unique ability to penetrate clouds and provide a clear view of the ground. The open-pit mine change detection task presents significant challenges, justifying the need for a model trained for this specific task. First, different mining areas frequently include various features, resulting in a diverse range of land cover types within a single scene. This heterogeneity complicates the detection and distinction of changes within open-pit mines. Second, pseudo changes, e.g., equipment movements or humidity fluctuations, which show statistically reliable reflectivity changes, lead to false positives, as they do not directly correspond to the actual changes of interest, i.e., blasting, collapsing, or waste pile operations. In this paper, to the best of our knowledge, we present the first deep learning model in the literature that can accurately detect changes within open-pit mines using SAR images (TerraSAR-X). We showcase the fundamental role of data augmentations and a coherence layer as a critical component in enhancing the model's performance, which initially relied solely on amplitude information. In addition, we demonstrate how, in the presence of a few labels, a pseudo-labeling pipeline can improve the model robustness, without degrading the performance by introducing misclassification points related to pseudo changes. In a constant evolving world, change detection is of prime importance to keep updated maps. To better sense areas with complex geometry (urban areas in particular), considering 3D data appears to be an interesting alternative to classical 2D images. In this context, 3D point clouds (PCs), whether obtained through LiDAR or photogrammetric techniques, provide valuable information. While recent studies showed the considerable benefit of using deep learning-based methods to detect and characterize changes into raw 3D PCs, these studies rely on large annotated training data to obtain accurate results. The collection of these annotations are tricky and time-consuming. The availability of unsupervised or weakly supervised approaches is then of prime interest. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised method, called DeepCluster 3D Change Detection (DC3DCD), to detect and categorize multiclass changes at point level. We classify our approach in the unsupervised family given the fact that we extract in a completely unsupervised way a number of clusters associated with potential changes. Let us precise that in the end of the process, the user has only to assign a label to each of these clusters to derive the final change map. Our method builds upon the DeepCluster approach, originally designed for image classification, to handle complex raw 3D PCs and perform change segmentation task. An assessment of the method on both simulated and real public dataset is provided. The proposed method allows to outperform fully-supervised traditional machine learning algorithm and to be competitive with fully-supervised deep learning networks applied on rasterization of 3D PCs with a mean of IoU over classes of change of 57.06% and 66.69% for the simulated and the real datasets, respectively. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image change detection aims to detect changes with images of the same area acquired at different times. It has wide applications in environmental monitoring, urban planning and resource management. Traditional change detection methods for spaceborne SAR time-series images typically adopt a pairwise comparison strategy to obtain multi-temporal change information. However, this kind of method has the problem of losing the overall change information, which is time consuming. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new change detection algorithm for spaceborne SAR time-series data based on SAR-SIFT-Logarithm Background Subtraction. This algorithm combines the SAR-SIFT image registration technology with Logarithm Background Subtraction. The method first preprocesses the input time-series data with steps like noise reducing and radiometric calibration. Then, the images will be coregistered by the SAR-SIFT step to avoid mismatches-induced detection performance degradation. Next, the parts that remained unchanged throughout the time period are modeled with a median filter to obtain the static background. The change information is then obtained via the subtraction of background and CFAR detection and clustering. The proposed algorithm is validated using the Sentinel-1 GRD and PAZ-1 time-series dataset. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively detects the overall change information and reduces processing time compared to traditional pairwise comparison methods. Data augmentation is a key technique to improve the generalizability of change detection models. Although the existing data augmentation methods achieve promising performance in image classification and object detection,they ignore the differences among the time-series images and the diversities of the changed objects. In order to preserve the change region and increase the information of the complex background, this paper proposed a novel data augmentation method for change detection based on change region mask, called MaskMix. Firstly, the change regions of the current image pair are pasted on an image pair to generate a new change image pair having new background and new changes. Secondly, MaskMix further augments the image pair by multi-path weighted fusion strategy. It selects a classical image processing method randomly from an image processing set for each path to conduct further augmentation. And then the processed image pairs from K paths are fused using a K-D weight generated by Dirichlet distribution. Finally, the pre-processed image pair and the post-processed image pair are fused by the weight generated by the Beta distribution through the skip connection. Experiments conducted on two publicly available datasets, e. g.,BCD（Build Change Detection） and LEVIR-CD（LEVIR Building Change Detection Dataset）, demonstrate that MaskMix significantly improves the generalizability of change detectors, e. g., ADCDNet, BIT, ChangeFormer,SNUNet, and DSAMNet. Change detection is a critical component in the field of remote sensing, with significant implications for resource management and land monitoring. Currently, most conventional methods for remote sensing change detection often rely on qualitative monitoring, which usually requires data collection from the entire scene over multiple time periods. In this paper, we propose a method that can be computationally intensive and lacks reusability, especially when dealing with large datasets. We use a novel methodology that leverages the texture features and geometric structure information derived from three‐dimensional (3D) real scenes. By establishing a two‐dimensional (2D)–3D geometric relationship between a single observational image and the corresponding 3D scene, we can obtain more accurate positional information for the image. This relationship allows us to transfer the depth information from the 3D model to the observational image, thereby facilitating precise geometric change measurements for specific planar targets. Experimental results indicate that our approach enables millimetre‐level change detection of minuscule targets based on a single image. Compared with conventional methods, our technique offers enhanced efficiency and reusability, making it a valuable tool for the fine‐grained change detection of small targets based on 3D real scene. The detection of ground object changes from bi‐temporal images is of great significance for urban planning, land‐use/land‐cover monitoring and natural disaster assessment. To solve the limitation of incomplete change detection (CD) entities and inaccurate edges caused by the loss of detailed information, this paper proposes a network based on dense connections and attention feature fusion, namely Siamese NestedUNet with Attention Feature Fusion (SNAFF). First, multi‐level bi‐temporal features are extracted through a Siamese network. The dense connections between the sub‐nodes of the decoder are used to compensate for the missing location information as well as weakening the semantic differences between features. Then, the attention mechanism is introduced to combine global and local information to achieve feature fusion. Finally, a deep supervision strategy is used to suppress the problem of gradient vanishing and slow convergence speed. During the testing phase, the test time augmentation (TTA) strategy is adopted to further improve the CD performance. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, two datasets with different change types are used. The experimental results indicate that, compared with the comparison methods, the proposed SNAFF achieves the best quantitative results on both datasets, in which F1, IoU and OA in the LEVIR‐CD dataset are 91.47%, 84.28% and 99.13%, respectively, and the values in the CDD dataset are 96.91%, 94.01% and 99.27%, respectively. Diverse user requirements has led to an increasing availability of multi-temporal data, the analysis of which often requires visualization, e.g. in multi-temporal choropleth maps. However, if using standard data classification methods for the creation of these maps, problems arise: significant changes can be lost by data classification (change loss) or non-significant changes can be emphasized (change exaggeration). In this paper, an extended method for data classification is presented, which can reduce these effects as far as possible. In the first step, class differences are set for important or necessary changes. The actual data classification considers these class differences in the context of a sweep line algorithm, whose optimal solution is determined with the help of a measure called Preservation of Change Classes (POCC). After the end of World War II, many military air bases in Greenland were abandoned with all the material left in place. One of these sites was the Bluie East Two military air base. A specific feature of this area is that it contained thousands of old barrels formerly used for fuel storage. In 2019, a rehabilitation of this area began. A few months prior to the rehabilitation, our expedition visited the area and mapped it using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This made it probably the latest documentation before the start of the sanitation. The aim of such mapping was to estimate the number of barrels in a given location. The second objective was to monitor the progress of the rehabilitation over the years. For this purpose, satellite data were acquired for the years 2019 through 2022. A supervised classification was performed to automatically detect sites with barrel occurrences, which enabled subsequent change detection. We conclude that a total of 33,786 old barrels were located in the investigated area in 2019. However, we suggest this number is a lower estimate of the actual number of barrels due to the factors we mention in our paper. Rockfall presents a significant risk to the safety and economy of communities and infrastructure in mountainous regions. The recently-developed Rockfall Activity Index (RAI) utilizes high-resolution terrestrial lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs) of rock slopes to categorize a slope face into seven distinct morphological units, or "RAI classes". This paper focuses on a comprehensive study conducted at four sites in Alaska, USA, where a robust lidar-based five-year inventory of 4381 rockfall events was analyzed. The primary objective was to investigate variations in failure characteristics, such as cumulative magnitude–frequency distributions, non-cumulative power–law parameters, average annual failure rates, and average failure depths, among the different RAI classes. The findings demonstrate that the seven RAI classes effectively differentiate the rock slope based on unique mass-wasting characteristics. Furthermore, the research explores spatial and temporal variations in these failure characteristics. Based on the study's outcomes, recommendations are provided for modifying the RAI parameters for each RAI class, specifically the annual failure rate and average failure depth. Recent developments in remote sensing provide very high-resolution imageries that are partially in competition with aerial images. This paper presents an evaluation of using IKONOS-2 and WorldView-2 satellite imageries for monitoring the growth of the built-up areas in the southern part of Assiut City between 2006 and 2016. In addition, a comparison between aerial orthoimage and satellite imagery was carried out. Also, a set of satellite imagery was downloaded from the Google Earth Pro application and used in this study to determine the rate of spatial growth in the southern part of Assiut City between 2011 and 2022. The results of this study show that: Most map features can be detected and manually recognized from WorldView-2 imageries at a good level, while building detection was perfect. The applied change detection technique using IKONOS-2 imagery and WorldView-2 imagery shows that the growth of the built-up area in the south part of Assiut City between 2006 and 2016 is 783499.2 m2, representing about 16.89 % of the total test area. Recent satellite imageries from open sources such as Google Earth were used successfully to determine the rate of spatial growth of the southern part of Assiut City in the period from 2011 to 2022. The spatial growth in this period was found to have increased dramatically, especially between 2014 and 2016. This paper presents a real-time object-based 3D change detection method that is built around the concept of semantic object maps. The algorithm is able to maintain an object-oriented metric-semantic map of the environment and can detect object-level changes between consecutive patrol routes. The proposed 3D change detection method exploits the capabilities of the novel ZED 2 stereo camera, which integrates stereo vision and artificial intelligence (AI) to enable the development of spatial AI applications. To design the change detection algorithm and set its parameters, an extensive evaluation of the ZED 2 camera was carried out with respect to depth accuracy and consistency, visual tracking and relocalization accuracy and object detection performance. In the context of Earth observation, change detection boils down to comparing images acquired at different times by sensors of possibly different spatial and/or spectral resolutions or different modalities (e.g., optical or radar). Even when considering only optical images, this task has proven to be challenging as soon as the sensors differ by their spatial and/or spectral resolutions. This paper proposes a novel unsupervised change detection method dedicated to images acquired by such so-called heterogeneous optical sensors. It capitalizes on recent advances which formulate the change detection task into a robust fusion framework. Adopting this formulation, the work reported in this paper shows that any off-the-shelf network trained beforehand to fuse optical images of different spatial and/or spectral resolutions can be easily complemented with a network of the same architecture and embedded into an adversarial framework to perform change detection. To improve the accuracy of detecting changes in remote sensing time series, an improved algorithm based on the combination of the antileakage least-squares spectral analysis (ALLSSA) algorithm and detecting breakpoints and estimating segments in trends (DBEST) algorithm is proposed and applied. The method uses the ALLSSA algorithm to decompose the time series and identify the trend components in the time series. Then, the trend segmentation mechanism of the DBEST algorithm is used to detect the changes in the trend component. In this paper, the improved algorithm is evaluated using a simulated time series data set, a time series data set with multiple change points, and data set based on the moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) remote sensing time series. The results demonstrate that the average detection accuracies of the improved algorithm and DBEST algorithm are 98.4% and 85.2%, respectively, for the simulated time series data set. For the time series data set with multiple change points, the average root mean square errors (RMSEs) of the trend data for the improved and DBEST algorithms are 0.0386 and 0.0331, respectively. The mean normalized residual norms (MNRNs) of the improved and DBEST algorithms are 0.0252 and 0.0351, respectively. Finally, the improved algorithm, DBEST algorithm, and breaks for additive season and trend (BFAST) algorithm are applied to MODIS NDVI data, and their performance with remote sensing data is compared. The improved algorithm has higher detection accuracy and a smaller MNRN, indicating that more information is included in the trend and seasonal components. This review paper synthesizes the existing literature on AI applications in remote sensing, consolidating and analyzing AI methodologies, outcomes, and limitations. The primary objectives are to identify research gaps, assess the effectiveness of AI approaches in practice, and highlight emerging trends and challenges. Semantic change detection (SCD) is a challenging task in remote sensing, which aims to locate and identify changes between the bi-temporal images, providing detailed "from-to" change information. This information is valuable for various remote sensing applications. Recent studies have shown that multi-task networks, with dual segmentation branches and single change branch, are effective in SCD tasks. However, these networks primarily focus on extracting contextual information and ignore spatial details, resulting in the missed or false detection of small targets and inaccurate boundaries. To address the limitations of the aforementioned methods, this paper proposed a spatial-temporal semantic perception network (STSP-Net) for SCD. It effectively utilizes spatial detail information through the detail-aware path (DAP) and generates spatial-temporal semantic-perception features through combining deep contextual features. Meanwhile, the network enhances the representation of semantic features in spatial and temporal dimensions by leveraging a spatial attention fusion module (SAFM) and a temporal refinement detection module (TRDM). This augmentation results in improved sensitivity to details and adaptive performance balancing between semantic segmentation (SS) and change detection (CD). In addition, by incorporating the invariant consistency loss function (ICLoss), the proposed method constrains the consistency of land cover (LC) categories in invariant regions, thereby improving the accuracy and robustness of SCD. The comparative experimental results on three SCD datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method in SCD. It outperforms other methods in various evaluation metrics, achieving a significant improvement. The Sek improvements of 2.84%, 1.63%, and 0.78% have been observed, respectively. Most existing remote sensing disaster assessment methods rely on convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Although CNNs can extract effective semantic features, determining global spatial relationships remains limited due to the locality of convolutional operations. The recently developed transformer-based method can extract global information from images effectively by encoding image tokens. However, its consumption of computational resources varies markedly with increasing image resolution. In this paper, we propose a novel transformer-based neural network for disaster assessment problems. The network uses a multihead neighbourhood attention (MNA) transformer as the base layer of the encoder to achieve more efficient self-attention computation. In addition, the bitemporal feature fusion module (BFFM) performs differential enhancement and injects the change information to the decoder via skip connections. The multiscale tokenizer generates multiscale image tokens to mitigate the loss of detail during encoding. Change detection plays a crucial role in remote sensing by identifying surface modifications between two sets of temporal remote sensing images. Recent advancements in deep learning techniques have yielded significant achievements in this field. However, there are still some challenges: (1) Existing change feature fusion methods often introduce redundant information. (2) The complexity of network structures leads to a large number of parameters and difficulties in model training. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a Multi-Scale Feature Subtraction Fusion Network (MFSF-Net). It comprises two primary modules: the Multi-scale Feature Subtraction Fusion (MFSF) module and the Feature Deep Supervision (FDS) module. MFSF enhances change features and reduces redundant pseudo-change features. FDS provides additional supervision on different scales of change features in the decoder, improving the training efficiency performance of the network. Additionally, to address the problem of imbalanced samples, the Dice loss strategy is introduced as a means to mitigate this issue. Through comprehensive experiments, MFSF-Net achieves an F1 score of 91.15% and 95.64% on LEVIR-CD and CDD benchmark datasets, respectively, outperforming six state-of-the-art algorithms. In this paper, satellite imagery is classified into four categories using the fuzzy c-means algorithm of the Indian Sundarbans due to its forest density changes. The categories are dense forest, sparse forest, water bodies, and wetlands. The study reveals that net forest areas declined by 3.75% from 932 km2 in 1975 to 847 km2 in 2018 and the rate of deforestation was 1.96 km2 year−1. The correlation statistic shows that the deforested areas were converted to wetland and water bodies. The results of the forest canopy density (FCD) model show that areas, with canopy density of 60–100% gradually declined from 42% (939 km2) in 1975 to 36% (814 km2) in 2018. Moreover, we also observed that maximum canopy density was >80% in 1990 and 60–80% in 1975. The results of the forest fragmentation model show that forest patch and edge areas progressively increased by 253% and 28%, respectively, while perforated forest areas slowly decreased with 11%. We find that most forest fragmentation happened in patch, edge, perforated, and core forest with an area >4 km2. Therefore, this study may be helpful in monitoring land cover changes of the Indian Sundarbans for sustainable mangrove forests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nowadays, hyperspectral imaging (HSI) attracts the interest of many researchers in solving the remote sensing problems especially in various specific domains such as agriculture, snow/ice, object detection and environmental monitoring. In the previous literature, various attempts have been made to extract the critical information through hyperspectral imaging which is not possible through multispectral imaging (MSI). The classification in image processing is one of the important steps to categorize and label the pixels based on some specific rules. There are various supervised and unsupervised approaches which can be used for classification. Since the past decades, various classifiers have been developed and improved to meet the requirement of remote sensing researchers. However, each method has its own merits and demerits and is not applicable in all scenarios. Past literature also concluded that deep learning classifiers are more preferable as compared to machine learning classifiers due to various advantages such as lesser training time for model generation, handle complex data and lesser user intervention requirements. This paper aims to perform the review on various machine learning and deep learning-based classifiers for HSI classification along with challenges and remedial solution of deep learning with hyperspectral imaging. Building detection and change detection using remote sensing images can help urban and rescue planning. Moreover, they can be used for building damage assessment after natural disasters. Currently, most of the existing models for building detection use only one image (pre-disaster image) to detect buildings. This is based on the idea that post-disaster images reduce the model's performance because of the presence of destroyed buildings. In this paper, we propose a siamese model, called SiamixFormer, which uses pre- and post-disaster images as input. Our model has two encoders and has a hierarchical transformer architecture. The output of each stage in both encoders is given to a temporal transformer for feature fusion in a way that query is generated from pre-disaster images and (key, value) is generated from post-disaster images. To this end, temporal features are also considered in feature fusion. Another advantage of using temporal transformers in feature fusion is that they can better maintain large receptive fields generated by transformer encoders compared with CNNs. Finally, the output of the temporal transformer is given to a simple MLP decoder at each stage. The SiamixFormer model is evaluated on xBD, and WHU datasets, for building detection and on LEVIR-CD and CDD datasets for change detection and could outperform the state-of-the-art. Change detection (CD) is an important remote sensing (RS) data analysis technology. Existing remote sensing change detection (RS-CD) technologies cannot fully consider situations where pixels between bitemporal images do not correspond well on a one-to-one basis due to factors such as seasonal changes and lighting conditions. Existing networks construct two identical feature extraction branches through convolution, which share weights. The two branches work independently and do not merge until the feature mapping is sent to the decoder head. This results in a lack of feature information interaction between the two images. So, directing attention to the change area is of research interest. In complex backgrounds, the loss of edge details is very important. Therefore, this paper proposes a new CD algorithm that extracts multi-scale feature information through the backbone network in the coding stage. According to the task characteristics of CD, two submodules (the Feature Interaction Module and Detail Feature Guidance Module) are designed to make the feature information between the bitemporal RS images fully interact. Thus, the edge details are restored to the greatest extent while fully paying attention to the change areas. Finally, in the decoding stage, the feature information of different levels is fully used for fusion and decoding operations. We build a new CD dataset to further verify and test the model's performance. The generalization and robustness of the model are further verified by using two open datasets. However, due to the relatively simple construction of the model, it cannot handle the task of multi-classification CD well. Therefore, further research on multi-classification CD algorithms is recommended. Moreover, due to the high production cost of CD datasets and the difficulty in obtaining them in practical tasks, future research will look into semi-supervised or unsupervised related CD algorithms.
