Modern low‐pressure turbine (LPT) pursues high blade loading to improve its efficiency while the possibility of boundary layer separation on the blades is still a challenging problem. The incidence angle is one of the main factors affecting the flow separation and laminar‐turbulent transition, which is of key importance for the design of LPT. In this work, based on the initial simulation results obtained using the Reynolds‐averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) method, the flow past a single LPT cascade at three representative incident angles (i = −10°, 0°, +10°) is investigated using large‐eddy simulation (LES) method with approximately 26 million structured grids. The simulations are carried out with Open Source Field Operation and Manipulation (OpenFOAM) for an off‐design low Reynolds number condition Re = 40,000 and Ma = 0.5. The time‐averaged aerodynamic performances and three‐dimensional instantaneous flow characteristics of the LPT cascade are discussed in detail, and the results show that the blade loading and the transverse pressure gradient (TPG) from the pressure side to the suction side of leading edge (LE) increase with increasing incidence angle. At the incidence angle of +10°, the LPT cascade undergoes separation and reattachment from the LE to around 20% Cax on the suction surface, which weakens the separation phenomenon at the rear half of the suction surface and the total pressure loss downstream of the trailing edge (TE). It is worth noting that the RANS method underpredicts the blade boundary layer separation region compared with LES under these extreme conditions. The concept of polyrotaxane comes from the rotaxane structure in the supramolecular field. It is a mechanically interlocked supramolecular assembly composed of linear polymer chains and cyclic molecules. Over recent decades, the synthesis and application of polyrotaxanes have seen remarkable growth. Particularly, cyclodextrin‐based polyrotaxanes have been extensively reported due to the low‐price raw materials, good biocompatibility, and ease of modification. Hence, it is also one of the most promising mechanically interlocking supramolecules for wide industrialization in the future. Polyrotaxanes are widely introduced into materials such as elastomers, hydrogels, and engineering polymers to improve their mechanical properties or impart functionality to the materials. In these materials, polyrotaxane acts as a slidable cross‐linker to dissipate energy through sliding or assist in dispersing stress concentration in the cross‐linked network, thereby enhancing the toughness of the materials. Further, the unique sliding‐ring effect of cyclodextrin‐based polyrotaxanes has pioneered advancements in stretchable electronics and energy storage materials. This includes their innovative use in stretchable conductive composite and binders for anodes, addressing critical challenges in these fields. Ionic conductive soft materials for mimicking human skin are a promising topic since they can be thought of as a possible basis for biomimetic sensing. In pursuit of devices with a long working range and low signal delay, conductive materials with low hysteresis and good stretchability are highly demanded. To overcome the challenges of highly stretchable conductive materials with good resilience, herein a chemical design is proposed where polyrotaxanes act as topological cross‐linkers to enhance the stretchability by sliding‐induced reduced stress concentration while the compatible ionic liquid is introduced as a dispersant for low hysteresis. The obtained ionogels exhibit versatile properties more than low hysteresis (residual strain = 7%) and good stretchability (550%), and also anti‐fatigue, biocompatibility, and good adhesion. The low hysteresis is attributed to lower energy dissipation from the well‐dispersed polyrotaxanes by compatible ionic liquids. The mechanism provides a new insight in fabricating highly stretchable and low‐hysteresis slide‐ring materials. Furthermore, the conductivity of the ionogels and their responses to strains and temperatures are measured. Benefiting from the good conductivity and low hysteresis, the ionogel is applied to develop a wireless communication system to realize rapid human‐machine interactions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tough and self‐healable substrates can enable stretchable electronics long service life. However, for substrates, it still remains a challenge to achieve both high toughness and autonomous self‐healing ability at room temperature. Herein, a strategy by using the combined effects between quadruple H‐bonding and slidable cross‐links is proposed to solve the above issues in the elastomer. The elastomer exhibits high toughness (77.3 MJ m−3), fracture energy (≈127.2 kJ m−2), and good healing efficiency (91 %) at room temperature. The superior performance is ascribed to the inter and intra crosslinking structures of quadruple H‐bonding and polyrotaxanes in the dual crosslinking system. Strain‐induced crystallization of PEG in polyrotaxanes also contributes to the high fracture energy of the elastomers. Furthermore, based on the dual cross‐linked supramolecular elastomer, a highly stretchable and self‐healable electrode containing liquid metal is also fabricated, retaining resistance stability (0.16–0.26 Ω) even at the strain of 1600 %. Objective. For certain radionuclides that decay through emitting two or more gamma photons consecutively within a short time intervalâ€"called cascade gamma-rays, the location where a radiopharmaceutical molecule emits cascade gamma-rays can be identified through coincidence detection of the photons. If each cascade photon is detected through a collimation mechanism, the location of the molecule can be inferred from the intersection of the back-projections of the two photons. Approach. In this work, we report the design and evaluation of a three-dimensional stationary imager based on this concept for imaging distributions of cascade-emitting radionuclides in radiopharmaceutical therapy. The imager was composed of two gamma-ray cameras assembled in an L-shape. Both cameras were NaI(Tl) scintillator based, one with a multi-slit collimator, the other with a multi-pinhole collimator. The field of view (FOV) was 100 mm (âˆ...) × 100 mm (L). Based on the unique characteristics of the cascade coincidence events, we used a direct back-projection algorithm to reconstruct point source images for assessing the imager’s intrinsic spatial resolution and the standard maximum likelihood expectation maximization algorithm for reconstructing phantom images. Main results. We evaluated the performance of the imager in both simulated and prototype form with radionuclide 177Lu (cascade photon emitter). On the simulated imager, the coincidence detection efficiency at the center of FOV was 3.85 × 10âˆ'6, the spatial resolution was 7.0 mm. On the prototype imager, the corresponding values were 3.20 × 10âˆ'6 and 6.7 mm, respectively. Abstract POLAR is a compact wide-field space-borne detector for precise measurements of the linear polarisation of hard X-rays emitted from gamma-ray burst and solar flares in the energy range of 50 keV to 500 keV. It consists of a 40 × 40 array of plastic scintillator bars used as a detection material. POLAR was launched into a low Earth orbit on-board the Chinese space-lab TG-2 on September 15, 2016. To achieve high accuracies in polarisation measurements it is essential to perform a precise energy calibration both before and during the flight. Such calibrations are performed with four low activity 22Na radioactive sources placed inside the instrument. Energy conversion factors are related to Compton edge positions from the collinear annihilation photons from the sources. This paper presents the main principles of the in-flight calibration, describes studies of the method based on Monte Carlo simulations and its laboratory verification, and provides some observation results based on the in-flight data analysis. POLAR is a compact space-borne detector designed to perform reliable measurements of the polarization for transient sources like Gamma-Ray Bursts in the energy range 50–500 keV. The instrument works based on the Compton Scattering principle with the plastic scintillators as the main detection material along with the multi-anode photomultiplier tube. POLAR has been launched successfully onboard the Chinese space laboratory TG-2 on 15th September, 2016. In order to reliably reconstruct the polarization information a highly detailed understanding of the instrument is required for both data analysis and Monte Carlo studies. For this purpose a full study of the in-orbit performance was performed in order to obtain the instrument calibration parameters such as noise, pedestal, gain nonlinearity of the electronics, threshold, crosstalk and gain, as well as the effect of temperature on the above parameters. Furthermore the relationship between gain and high voltage of the multi-anode photomultiplier tube has been studied and the errors on all measurement values are presented. Finally the typical systematic error on polarization measurements of Gamma-Ray Bursts due to the measurement error of the calibration parameters are estimated using Monte Carlo simulations. In spite of extensive observations and numerous theoretical studies in the past decades several key questions related with Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRB) emission mechanisms are still to be answered. Precise detection of the GRB polarization carried out by dedicated instruments can provide new data and be an ultimate tool to unveil their real nature. A novel space-borne Compton polarimeter POLAR onboard the Chinese space station TG2 is designed to measure linear polarization of gamma-rays arriving from GRB prompt emissions. POLAR uses plastics scintillator bars (PS) as gamma-ray detectors and multi-anode photomultipliers (MAPMTs) for readout of the scintillation light. Inherent properties of such detection systems are crosstalk and non-uniformity. The crosstalk smears recorded energy over multiple channels making both non-uniformity corrections and energy calibration more difficult. Rigorous extraction of polarization observables requires to take such effects properly into account. We studied influence of the crosstalk on energy depositions during laboratory measurements with X-ray beams. A relation between genuine and recorded energy was deduced using an introduced model of data analysis. It postulates that both the crosstalk and non-uniformities can be described with a single matrix obtained in calibrations with mono-energetic X- and gamma-rays. Necessary corrections are introduced using matrix based equations allowing for proper evaluation of the measured GRB spectra. Validity of the method was established during dedicated experimental tests. The same approach can be also applied in space utilizing POLAR internal calibration sources.
