1. Indoor Climbing Elicits Plasma Oxidative Stress.

The article analyzes the effect of sustained indoor climbing until exhaustion on plasma oxidative markers and the relation between the mentioned activity with the whole-body dynamic exercise performed on maximal oxygen uptake. Fourteen male indoor climbers participated in the study after given an instruction about the aims, experimental protocol, and procedures. During the climbing exercise, the oxygen consumption and the heart rate of males were monitored. A week after, the subjects performed a treadmill running protocol with the same duration and percentage on maximal oxygen uptake. The researchers concluded on the significant contribution between intermittent isometric forearm muscle contractions and ischemia-reperfusion prooxidant-based mechanism to observed plasma oxidative stress.
