Remote sensing precipitation data have the characteristics of wide coverage and revealing spatiotemporal information, but their spatial resolution is low. The accuracy of the data is obviously different in different study areas and hydrometeorological conditions. This study evaluated four precipitation products in the Yellow River basin from 2001 to 2019, constructed the optimal combined product, conducted downscaling with various machine algorithms, and performed corrections using meteorological station precipitation data to analyze the spatiotemporal trends of precipitation. The results showed that (1) GPM and MSWEP had the best four evaluation indicators, with R2 values of 0.93 and 0.90, respectively, and the smallest FSE and RMSE, with a BIAS close to 0. A high-precision mixed precipitation dataset, GPM-MSWEP, was constructed. (2) Among the three methods, the downscaling results of DFNN showed higher accuracy. (3) The results, after correction with GWR, could more effectively enhance the accuracy of the data. (4) Precipitation in the Yellow River Basin showed a decreasing trend in January, September, and December, while it exhibited an increasing trend in other months and seasons, with 2002 and 2016 being points of abrupt change. The mechanisms for spinal cord stimulation (SCS) to alleviate chronic pain are only partially known. We aimed to elucidate the roles of adenosine A1 and A3 receptors (A1R, A3R) in the inhibition of spinal nociceptive transmission by SCS, and further explored whether 2′-deoxycoformycin (dCF), an inhibitor of adenosine deaminase, can potentiate SCS-induced analgesia. We used RNAscope and immunoblotting to examine the distributions of adora1 and adora3 expression, and levels of A1R and A3R proteins in the spinal cord of rats after tibial-spared nerve injury (SNI-t). Electrophysiology recording was conducted to examine how adenosine receptor antagonists, virus-mediated adora3 knockdown, and dCF affect SCS-induced inhibition of C-fibre-evoked spinal local field potential (C-LFP). Adora1 was predominantly expressed in neurones, whereas adora3 is highly expressed in microglial cells in the rat spinal cord. Spinal application of antagonists (100 μl) of A1R (8-cyclopentyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine [DPCPX], 50 μM) and A3R (MRS1523, 200 nM) augmented C-LFP in SNI-t rats (DPCPX: 1.39 [0.18] vs vehicle: 0.98 [0.05], P =0.046; MRS1523: 1.21 [0.07] vs vehicle: 0.91 [0.03], P =0.002). Both drugs also blocked inhibition of C-LFP by SCS. Conversely, dCF (0.1 mM) enhanced SCS-induced C-LFP inhibition (dCF: 0.60 [0.04] vs vehicle: 0.85 [0.02], P <0.001). In the behaviour study, dCF (100 nmol 15 μl−1, intrathecal) also enhanced inhibition of mechanical hypersensitivity by SCS in SNI-t rats. Spinal A1R and A3R signalling can exert tonic suppression and also contribute to SCS-induced inhibition of spinal nociceptive transmission after nerve injury. This research explores vocal music teaching against the backdrop of the twenty-first century educational reforms seeking innovation and pursuing new teaching methodologies. The goal is to develop an autonomous learning framework reinforced by machine learning techniques that use conventional neural networks. The present study aims to implement machine learning algorithms in education, because esthetic education promotes excellence and humanistic attributes in educational environments, and art is essential in social activities. The main goal is to provide a framework that enables music education majors to access a customizable learning environment by integrating a pluralistic network approach and the strength of conventional neural networks. Music education constitutes an integral facet of quality, ideological, and moral education within general colleges and universities. The mission of music education, cultivating competent teachers for various Chinese institutions, necessitates a comprehensive understanding of students' learning patterns, thinking characteristics, and behavioral phenomena. This study analyzes these facets across diverse levels and perspectives, employing empirical generalization, literature synthesis, logical reasoning, and action research methodologies. The research findings underscore an accuracy rate of 97.4%, emphasizing the augmentation of students' independent learning abilities in vocal music education at higher education institutions. The proposed approach outperforms machine learning techniques such as RNNs, LSTMs, and DNNs. The phytochemical investigation of Cortex Mori Radicis led to the isolation and identification of a new prenylated benzofuranone (1) and four ring-opening derivatives (2–5) named albaphenol A–E, as well as nigranol A (6), together with ten 2-arylbenzofuran derivatives (7–16). The characterization of the structures of the new compounds and the structural revision of nigranol A (6) were conducted using the comprehensive analysis of spectroscopic data (1D/2D NMR, HRESIMS, CD, and XRD). Compounds 1–16 were tested for their inhibitory effects on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE). Compounds 1 and 4 showed weak BChE-inhibitory activity (IC50 45.5 and 61.0 μM); six 2-arylbenzofuran derivatives showed more-potent BChE-inhibitory activity (IC50 2.5–32.8 μM) than the positive control galantamine (IC50 35.3 μM), while being inactive or weakly inhibitory toward AChE. Cathafuran C (14) exhibited the most potent and selective inhibitory activity against BChE in a competitive manner, with a Ki value of 1.7 μM. The structure–activity relationships of the benzofuran-type stilbenes were discussed. Background: Peripheral blood carries a reservoir of mRNAs that regulate cardiac structure and function potential. Although it is well recognized that the typical symptoms of Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD) stage B2 are long-standing hemodynamic disorder and cardiac structure remodeling caused by mitral regurgitation, the transcriptomic alterations in blood from such dogs are not understood. Results: In the present study, comparative high-throughput transcriptomic profiling of blood was performed from normal control (NC) and naturally-occurring MMVD stage B2 (MMVD) dogs. Using Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analyses (WGCNA), Gene Ontology (GO), and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Gene and Genomes (KEGG), we identified that the turquoise module was the most highly correlated with echocardiographic features and found 64 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) that were significantly enriched in platelet activation related pathways. Therefore, from the turquoise module, we selected five DEGs (MDM2, ROCK1, RIPK1, SNAP23, and ARHGAP35) that, according to real-time qPCR, exhibited significant enrichment in platelet activation related pathways for validation. The results showed that the blood transcriptional abundance of MDM2, ROCK1, RIPK1, and SNAP23 differed significantly (P < 0.01) between NC and MMVD dogs. On the other hand, Correlation Analysis revealed that MDM2, ROCK1, RIPK1, and SNAP23 genes negatively regulated the heart structure parameters, and followed the same trend as observed in WGCNA. Conclusion: We screened four platelet activation related genes, MDM2, ROCK1, RIPK1, and SNAP23, which may be considered as the candidate biomarkers for the diagnosis of MMVD stage B2. The assembly and break-up of supercontinents have been hot research topics in international earth sciences because they represent a breakthrough in reconstructing the history of continental evolution and deepening the theory of plate tectonics, which is of indispensable importance to the development of earth sciences. With the continuous enrichment of paleomagnetic, paleontological, chronological, and geochemical data in the last two decades, the evolution of the supercontinent from Columbia to Rodinia has gradually gained unified understanding, and the reconstruction of the major plates within the supercontinent has basically been constrained. In contrast, the reconstruction of microplates, such as South China, Tarim, and Kabul, is controversial and has now become a popular topic and frontier area of supercontinent reconstruction. Hainan lies at the southern tip of South China, and a few Proterozoic units are exposed on the island. At present, Hainan is often taken as a part of the Cathaysia Block. However, due to the lack of exposed Mesoproterozoic igneous and supercrustal rocks in Cathaysia, the reconstruction model of the Cathaysia Block and even the South China Craton based solely on Mesoproterozoic units in Hainan are distinct from those based on units in the Yangtze Block and younger Proterozoic units within the Cathaysia Block, which makes the paleoposition of the South China Craton controversial. In this paper, we provide new detrital zircon U–Pb age data for the Baoban Complex, Hainan, together with the available data to comment on the affinities between Hainan and the Yangtze and Cathaysia Blocks in the Proterozoic, and on this basis, we can reconstruct the South China Craton within the Proterozoic supercontinents. Alternative splicing (AS) is a key transcriptional regulation pathway. Recent studies have shown that AS events are associated with the occurrence of complex diseases. Various computational approaches have been developed for the detection of disease-associated AS events. In this review, we first describe the metrics used for quantitative characterization of AS events. Second, we review and discuss the three types of methods for detecting disease-associated splicing events, which are differential splicing analysis, aberrant splicing detection and splicing-related network analysis. Third, to further exploit the genetic mechanism of disease-associated AS events, we describe the methods for detecting genetic variants that potentially regulate splicing. For each type of methods, we conducted experimental comparison to illustrate their performance. Finally, we discuss the limitations of these methods and point out potential ways to address them. Transition metal phosphides (MPx) with high theoretical capacities and low cost are regarded as the most promising anodes for lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs), but the large volume variations and sluggish kinetics largely restrict their development. To solve the above challenges, herein a generic but effective method is proposed to encapsulate various monodispersed MPx into flexible carbon multi‐chambers (MPx@NC, MNi, Fe, Co, and Cu, etc.) with pre‐reserved voids, working as anodes for LIBs and markedly boosting the Li+ storage performance. Ni2P@NC, one representative example of MPx@NC anode, shows high reversible capacity (613 mAh g−1, 200 cycles at 0.2 A g−1), and superior cycle stability (475 mAh g−1, 800 cycles at 2 A g−1). Full cell coupled with LiFePO4 displays a high reversible capacity (150.1 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1) with stable cycling performance. In situ X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope techniques confirm the reversible conversion reaction mechanism and robust structural integrity, accounting for enhanced rate and cycling performance. Theoretical calculations reveal the synergistic effect between MPx and carbon shells, which can significantly promote electron transfer and reduce diffusion energy barriers, paving ways to design high‐energy‐density materials for energy storage systems. Betaine is a new surfactant with good application prospects in high-temperature and high-salinity reservoirs. The interfacial properties of two kinds of betaine mixtures with a good synergistic effect were evaluated in this paper. On this basis, the effects of temperature-resistant, salt-resistant polymers with different contents of 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) on dynamic interfacial tensions (IFTs) against n-alkanes and crude oil were studied. The experimental results show that the IFTs between betaine ASB and n-alkanes can be reduced to ultra-low values by compounding with anionic surfactant petroleum sulfonate (PS) and extended anionic surfactant alkoxyethylene carboxylate (AEC), respectively. ASB@AEC is very oil-soluble with nmin value ≥14, and ASB@PS is relatively water-soluble with nmin value of 10. The water solubility of both ASB@PS and ASB@AEC is enhanced by the addition of water-soluble polymers. The HLB of the ASB@AEC solution becomes better against crude oil after the addition of polymers, and the IFT decreases to an ultra-low value as a result. On the contrary, the antagonistic effect in reducing the IFT can be observed for ASB@PS in the same case. In a word, polymers affect the IFTs of surfactant solutions by regulating the HLB. Due to the lack of alternating electric fields and alternating magnetic fields in HVdc transmission system, there has been no sustainable and stable energy harvesting method compatible with them up to now, hindering the application of HVdc sensors. In this letter, we proposed a novel dc energy harvesting method using corona current, and an energy harvesting circuit is constituted with space ion flow generated by dc corona. The feasibility of the proposed method is increased by adding an artificial corona electrode and placing the load before the corona electrode. In addition, it can flexibly operate at any position in an HVdc transmission system according to actual demand. Then the output power is further maximized by adopting a capacitor with high working voltages. The detailed measurement results based on the experimental system validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, with a stable output power as high as 10.15 mW in a dc system of 22 kV. The evolutions of a neutron star's rotation and magnetic field (B-field) have remained unsolved puzzles for over half a century. We ascribe the rotational braking torques of pulsar to both components, the standard magnetic dipole radiation (MDR) and particle wind flow (MDR + Wind, hereafter named MDRW), which we apply to the Crab pulsar (B0531 + 21), the only source with a known age and long-term continuous monitoring by radio telescope. Based on the above presumed simple spin-down torques, we obtain the exact analytic solution on the rotation evolution of the Crab pulsar, together with the related outcomes as described below: (1) unlike the constant characteristic B-field suggested by the MDR model, this value for the Crab pulsar increases by a hundred times in 50 kyr while its real B-field has no change; (2) the rotational braking index evolves from ∼3 to 1 in the long-term, however, it drops from 2.51 to 2.50 in ∼45 years at the present stage, while the particle flow contributes approximately 25% of the total rotational energy loss rate; (3) strikingly, the characteristic age has the maximum limit of ∼10 kyr, meaning that it is not always a good indicator of a real age. Furthermore, we discussed the evolutionary path of the Crab pulsar from the MDR to the wind domination by comparing with the possible wind braking candidate pulsar PSR J1734-3333. Aiming at the free-form curve contour tracking error problem of CNC machining, a cross-coupled controller based on Fuzzy PID using an improved PSO algorithm is proposed. First, the exact formulas of the linear and circular arc contour errors under a plane trajectory are derived, and an estimation method for the free curve profile error under a plane trajectory based on the principle of approximate approximation of preferred points is designed. Second, a cross-coupled controller based on Fuzzy PID using an improved PSO algorithm is achieved. An improved PSO algorithm, whose learning factor is adjusted with the inertia weight, is used to optimize the controller parameters and achieve contour tracking of the free curve. Finally, a two-dimensional biaxial experimental platform is used to test the proposed method. The results demonstrate that the optimal gain parameters obtained by the proposed strategy can significantly improve contour control accuracy in biaxial contour tracking tasks. Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are extremely strong radio flares lasting several micro- to milliseconds and come from unidentified objects at cosmological distances, most of which are only seen once. Based on recently published data in the CHIME/FRB Catalog 1 in the frequency bands 400–800 MHz, we analyze 125 apparently singular FRBs with low dispersion measure (DM) and find that the distribution of their luminosity follows a lognormal form according to statistical tests. In our luminosity measurement, the FRB distance is estimated by using the Macquart relation that was obtained for 8 localized FRBs, and we find it still applicable for 18 sources after adding the latest 10 new localized FRBs. In addition, we test the validity of the luminosity distribution up to the Macquart relation and find that the lognormal-form feature decreases as the uncertainty increases. Moreover, we compare the luminosity of these apparent nonrepeaters with that of the previously observed 10 repeating FRBs also at low DM, noting that they belong to different lognormal distributions with the mean luminosity of nonrepeaters being two times greater than that of repeaters. The Archean Kongling tonalite–trondhjemite–granodiorite (TTG) rocks and Neoproterozoic Huangling granodiorite–monzogranite–tonalite complex occupy the core of the Huangling anticline of the northern Yangtze Craton, South China. These Precambrian felsic rocks have provided crucial clues for understanding the earliest crustal growth in South China. This study presents a set of new zircon U–Pb geochronological and Lu–Hf isotopic data, and whole-rock geochemical data for the mafic dykes, predominantly intruding the Kongling TTG package in the northern Huangling anticline. Our data show that the dykes might be geochemically subdivided into Groups 1 and 2. Group 1 is characterized by low Al2O3, Na2O + K2O, Mg#, Th/Ta, and Sm/Yb but high FeOt and TiO2. In contrast, the Group 2 samples are marked by higher Al2O3, Mg#, Th/Ta, and Sm/Yb but lower FeOt and TiO2. The Group 1 dykes are inferred to be of Paleoproterozoic origin. Group 2 has zircon U–Pb ages of ~ 800 Ma but distinct εHf(t) values among the rock samples, ranging from − 0.3 to − 31.5 and indicating the Neoproterozoic lithospheric mantle being heterogeneous. The Paleoproterozoic Group 1 mafic dykes originated from an enriched and dry lithospheric source. The Neoproterozoic Group 2 mafic dykes were generated by an enriched lithosphere that was modified by slab-released fluid. In addition, a tonalite sample from the southern Huangling anticline is dated at ~ 815 Ma, and has the εHf(t) values ranging from − 19.8 to + 6.9. The wide εHf(t) range suggests the mixing between an enriched lithosphere with a less enriched source. Our data, along with the coeval mafic rocks in NW South China, North Laurentia, and South Australia, indicate that the Neoproterozoic mafic dykes and tonalite in the Yangtze interior are most likely the products in the supra-subduction setting along the Rodinia margin. Current sensor integration provides many benefits on the power density and reliability of power modules. However, existing current sensors are not suitable for the integration in silicon carbide power modules. This article proposed a low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) based low profile current sensor with mount-ready structure. The current capacity, bandwidth, electrical insulation, and thermal expansion performance of the proposed current sensor are fully analyzed and evaluated. The mutual inductance between the designed sensing coil and current carrying conductor is 4nH with a relative error less than 5% compared with finiteelement analysis simulation results. The dynamic current measuring accuracy is verified by double pulse test. The error of first peak measurement is reduced from over 20% to less than 5% by changing the commercial Rogowski coil to the proposed LTCC current sensor. Alzheimer's disease (AD) has a strong genetic predisposition. However, its risk genes remain incompletely identified. We developed an Alzheimer's brain gene network-based approach to predict AD-associated genes by leveraging the functional pattern of known AD-associated genes. Our constructed network outperformed existing networks in predicting AD genes. We then systematically validated the predictions using independent genetic, transcriptomic, proteomic data, neuropathological and clinical data. First, top-ranked genes were enriched in AD-associated pathways. Second, using external gene expression data from the Mount Sinai Brain Bank study, we found that the top-ranked genes were significantly associated with neuropathological and clinical traits, including the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease score, Braak stage score and clinical dementia rating. The analysis of Alzheimer's brain single-cell RNA-seq data revealed cell-type-specific association of predicted genes with early pathology of AD. Third, by interrogating proteomic data in the Religious Orders Study and Memory and Aging Project and Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging studies, we observed a significant association of protein expression level with cognitive function and AD clinical severity. Partial discharge which often occurs at channel stopper of high voltage chip will cause insulation damage of chips which is harmful to the device application. Thus, it is important to improve the whole design to promote chip insulation capacity. In this brief, a novel chip surface shielding structure named U-protector is proposed which can promote the insulation capability of high voltage chips. Through the simulation, it can be found that the maximum electric field strength of chips can decrease 8% with adding U-protector. Moreover, verified by experiments, the partial discharge initial voltage (PDIV) of chips with U-protector can be promoted about 6.1%–12.7% of rated voltage. Motivation Gene-centric bioinformatics studies frequently involve the calculation or the extraction of various features of genes such as splice sites, promoters, independent introns and untranslated regions (UTRs) through manipulation of gene models. Gene models are often annotated in gene transfer format (GTF) files. The features are essential for subsequent analysis such as intron retention detection, DNA-binding site identification and computing splicing strength of splice sites. Some features such as independent introns and splice sites are not provided in existing resources including the commonly used BioMart database. A package that implements and integrates functions to analyze various features of genes will greatly ease routine analysis for related bioinformatics studies. However, to the best of our knowledge, such a package is not available yet. Results We introduce GTFtools, a stand-alone command-line software that provides a set of functions to calculate various gene features, including splice sites, independent introns, transcription start sites (TSS)-flanking regions, UTRs, isoform coordination and length, different types of gene lengths, etc. It takes the ENSEMBL or GENCODE GTF files as input and can be applied to both human and non-human gene models like the lab mouse. We compare the utilities of GTFtools with those of two related tools: Bedtools and BioMart. GTFtools is implemented in Python and not dependent on any third-party software, making it very easy to install and use. In single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) data analysis, a fundamental problem is to determine the number of cell clusters based on the gene expression profiles. However, the performance of current methods is still far from satisfactory, presumably due to their limitations in capturing the expression variability among cell clusters. Batch effects represent the undesired variability between data measured in different batches. When data are obtained from different labs or protocols batch effects occur. Motivated by the practice of batch effect removal, we considered cell clusters as batches. We hypothesized that the number of cell clusters (i.e. batches) could be correctly determined if the variances among clusters (i.e. batch effects) were removed. We developed a new method, namely, removal of batch effect and testing (REBET), for determining the number of cell clusters. In this method, cells are first partitioned into k clusters. Second, the batch effects among these k clusters are then removed. Third, the quality of batch effect removal is evaluated with the average range of normalized mutual information (ARNMI), which measures how uniformly the cells with batch-effects-removal are mixed. By testing a range of k values, the k value that corresponds to the lowest ARNMI is determined to be the optimal number of clusters. We compared REBET with state-of-the-art methods on 32 simulated datasets and 14 published scRNA-seq datasets. Drug response prediction is essential for drug development and disease treatment. One key question in predicting drug response is the representation of molecules, which has been greatly advanced by artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in recent years. In this review, we first describe different types of representation methods, pinpointing their key principles and discussing their limitations. Motivation Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex brain disorder with risk genes incompletely identified. The candidate genes are dominantly obtained by computational approaches. In order to obtain biological insights of candidate genes or screen genes for experimental testing, it is essential to assess their relevance to AD. A platform that integrates different types of omics data and approaches would facilitate the analysis of candidate genes and is in great need. Results We report AlzCode, a platform for multiview analysis of genes related to AD. First, this platform integrates a rich collection of functional genomic data, including expression data of AD samples (gene expression, single-cell RNA-seq data and protein expression), AD-specific biological networks (co-expression networks and functional gene networks), neuropathological and clinical traits (CERAD score, Braak staging score, Clinical Dementia Rating, cognitive function and clinical severity) and general data such as protein–protein interaction, regulatory networks, sequence similarity and miRNA-target interactions. These data provide basis for analyzing genes from different views. Second, the platform integrates multiple approaches designed for the various types of data. We implement functions to analyze both individual genes and gene sets. We also compare AlzCode with two existing platforms for AD analysis, which are Agora and AD Atlas. We pinpoint the features of each platform and highlight their differences. This platform would be valuable to the understanding of AD genetics and pathological mechanisms. Background: Kupffer cells (KCs) originate from yolk-sac progenitors before birth. Throughout adulthood, they self-maintain independently from the input of circulating monocytes (MOs) at a steady state and are replenished within 2 weeks after having been depleted, but the origin of repopulating KCs in adults remains unclear. The current paradigm dictates that repopulating KCs originate from preexisting KCs or monocytes, but there remains a lack of fate-mapping evidence. Methods: We first traced the fate of preexisting KCs and that of monocytic cells with tissue-resident macrophage-specific and monocytic cell-specific fate-mapping mouse models, respectively. Secondly, we performed genetic lineage tracing to determine the type of progenitor cells involved in response to KC-depletion in mice. Finally, we traced the fate of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in an HSC-specific fate-mapping mouse model, in the context of chronic liver inflammation induced by repeated carbon tetrachloride treatment. Results: By using fate-mapping mouse models, we found no evidence that repopulating KCs originate from preexisting KCs or MOs and found that in response to KC-depletion, HSCs proliferated in the bone marrow, mobilized into the blood, adoptively transferred into the liver and differentiated into KCs. Then, in the chronic liver inflammation context, we confirmed that repopulating KCs originated directly from HSCs. Conclusion: Taken together, these findings provided in vivo fate-mapping evidence that repopulating KCs originate directly from HSCs, which presents a completely novel understanding of the cellular origin of repopulating KCs and shedding light on the divergent roles of KCs in liver homeostasis and diseases. The wireline log prediction of sedimentary microfacies plays a significant role in sedimentary study. It is mainly achieved through the manual interpretation of wireline logs according to the differences of sedimentary microfacies in wireline log shapes. Influenced by interpreters' expertise and proficiency in manual interpretation, the classification results maybe subjective and uncertain. Moreover, the task is labor intensive. Developing an automatic method based on wireline logs to accurately classify sedimentary microfacies is thus, a worthy consideration. The proposed automatic classification of sedimentary microfacies in this study can be implemented in terms of object detection, which involves aspects of machine learning and computer vision. In the stage of machine learning, we manually extract the features that can represent the different well log shapes of sedimentary microfacies. To solve the problem of imbalanced training samples, we use the oversampling technique to propagate the training classes with few samples. In addition, based on the augmented samples, we systematically conduct cross-validation and hyperparameter optimization on a series of machine learning algorithms with different mechanisms. The oversampling algorithm and machine learning model with the best performance can then be selected. In the stage of computer vision, we design an object detection strategy to detect the classes and locations of sedimentary microfacies by integrating the trained classifier. The practical application of the proposed method to the clastic strata of the Ordos basin proves its efficiency and consistency in automatically classifying sedimentary microfacies. The phenomenological interplay in the segregation of phosphorus (P) and transition metal (TM) elements at grain boundaries (GBs) in steels has long been suspected to be the main contributor to temper embrittlement. However, many of the details remain unclear. Here, we investigate the segregation, co-segregation and cohesion effects of TMs (Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Nb, Ti, V, W) along with P in various ferritic iron (α -Fe) GBs utilising density functional theory and simulations of kinetics. Our findings demonstrate that P is unlikely to cause intergranular fracture via weakened interfacial bonding when segregated by itself. Nevertheless, the stronger segregation binding of P compared to TMs can explain the ubiquitous presence of P segregated at GBs. We find that most P-TM interactions at ferritic GBs are repulsive and differ significantly from the corresponding interactions in the bulk. Due to the repulsive interactions and strong segregation binding of P, the enrichment of P over time at GBs leads to the depletion of prior-segregated cohesion-enhancing solutes at general GBs. Additionally, certain P-TM co-segregation combinations that are cohesion-lowering are energetically favoured at such GBs. We posit these mechanisms act in tandem as critical causalities of P-induced temper embrittlement in alloyed steels. Finally, we reveal a contradiction in the predicted cohesion effects of segregated P calculated in the Rice–Thomson–Wang theory of interfacial embrittlement compared to that as assessed by chemical bonding strength, calculated in the DDEC6 bond-order framework. The treatment of critical-size bone defects remains a complicated clinical challenge. Recently, bone tissue engineering has emerged as a potential therapeutic approach for defect repair. This study examined the biocompatibility and repair efficacy of hydroxyapatite-mineralized bionic polylactic acid (PLA) scaffolds, which were prepared through a combination of 3D printing technology, plasma modification, collagen coating, and hydroxyapatite mineralization coating techniques. Physicochemical analysis, mechanical testing, and in vitro and animal experiments were conducted to elucidate the impact of structural design and microenvironment on osteogenesis. Results indicated that the PLA scaffold exhibited a porosity of 84.1% and a pore size of 350 μm, and its macrostructure was maintained following functionalization modification. The functionalized scaffold demonstrated favorable hydrophilicity and biocompatibility and promoted cell adhesion, proliferation, and the expression of osteogenic genes such as ALP, OPN, Col-1, OCN, and RUNX2. Moreover, the scaffold was able to effectively repair critical-size bone defects in the rabbit radius, suggesting a novel strategy for the treatment of critical-size bone defects. Motivation Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) offers a powerful tool to dissect the complexity of biological tissues through cell sub-population identification in combination with clustering approaches. Feature selection is a critical step for improving the accuracy and interpretability of single-cell clustering. Existing feature selection methods underutilize the discriminatory potential of genes across distinct cell types. We hypothesize that incorporating such information could further boost the performance of single cell clustering. Results We develop CellBRF, a feature selection method that considers genes' relevance to cell types for single-cell clustering. The key idea is to identify genes that are most important for discriminating cell types through random forests guided by predicted cell labels. Moreover, it proposes a class balancing strategy to mitigate the impact of unbalanced cell type distributions on feature importance evaluation. We benchmark CellBRF on 33 scRNA-seq datasets representing diverse biological scenarios and demonstrate that it substantially outperforms state-of-the-art feature selection methods in terms of clustering accuracy and cell neighborhood consistency. Furthermore, we demonstrate the outstanding performance of our selected features through three case studies on cell differentiation stage identification, non-malignant cell subtype identification, and rare cell identification. Background and Purpose: Mineralocorticoid receptors (MRs), glucocorticoid receptors (GRs) and corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) in the paraventricular nucleus of hypothalamus (PVN) are involved in the response to stress. The present study investigated the role of GRs and MRs in the PVN in regulating depressive and anxiety-like behaviours.Experimental Approach: To model chronic stress, rats were exposed to corticosterone treatment via drinking water for 21 days, and GR antagonist RU486 and MR antagonist spironolactone, alone and combined, were directly injected in the PVN daily for the last 7 days of corticosterone treatment. Behavioural tests were run on days 22 and 23. Depressive- and anxiety-like behaviours were evaluated in forced swim test, sucrose preference test, novelty-suppressed feeding test and social interaction test. The expression of GRs, MRs and CRF were detected by western blot.Key Results: Rats exposed to corticosterone exhibited depressive- and anxiety-like behaviours. The expression of GRs and MRs decreased, and CRF levels increased in the PVN. The intra-PVN administration of RU486 increased the levels of GRs and CRF without influencing depressive- or anxiety-like behaviours. The spironolactone-treated group exhibited an increase in MRs without influencing GRs and CRF in the PVN and improved anxiety-like behaviours. Interestingly, the intra-PVN administration of RU486 and spironolactone combined restored expression of GRs, MRs and CRF and improved depressive- and anxiety-like behaviours.Conclusion and Implications: In this rat model of stress, the simultaneous restoration of GRs, MRs and CRF in the PVN might play an important role in the treatment of depression and anxiety. [Display omitted] The segregation of transition metal elements to grain boundaries in steels plays a critical role in determining their cohesion. Here, we investigate the segregation, co-segregation, and cohesion effects of various transition metals (Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Nb, Ti, V and W) to different grain boundary characters in ferritic-iron (α -Fe) through a systematic, brute-force style configurational analysis utilising density functional theory calculations. We demonstrate that differing grain boundary characters change not only transition metal segregation and co-segregation behaviours, but also their effects on cohesion. The effects of co-segregated solutes on cohesion can be substantially different from their summed individual parts. We show that solute-solute interactions at grain boundaries vary significantly as a function of grain boundary character. These interactions are shown to be substantially different from those that occur in the bulk. We introduce a novel quantitative method for assessing effects of segregated elements on interfacial cohesion through calculating the strength of bonds at a grain boundary in the DDEC6 bond-order framework. It is shown that work of separation quantities calculated through rigid separation of surfaces better captures the strength of bonding in most cases, and thus more accurately depicts intergranular fracture. Here, the segregation and accumulation of hydrogen in Ni grain boundaries, and its effects on cohesion and tensile mechanical strength were studied by means of density functional theory simulations. Three model grain boundaries were considered: the Σ 3 (1 1 ¯ 1) [ 110 ] , Σ 5 (120) [ 001 ] and Σ 11 (1 1 ¯ 0) [ 113 ] , as representatives for the highly coherent twin, high energy random high angle, and "special" low energy highly coherent grain boundaries, respectively. Hydrogen segregation was found to be favourable in the Σ 5 and Σ 11 grain boundaries, but not in the Σ 3. Hydrogen accumulation studied via a comprehensive site-permutation analysis revealed the mechanisms for how H accumulation capacity varies as a function of grain boundary character. We show that the interfacial cohesion of boundaries can diminish by between 6.7–37.5% at varying levels of H-accumulation. The cohesion of the grain boundaries was analysed using a novel chemical bond-order based approach, enabling a quantitative atomistic determination of the fracture paths arising from hydrogen embrittlement. These simulations explain the details of why grain boundary character is the principal determinant of the likelihood of hydrogen segregation and accumulation, and hence their vulnerability to hydrogen-enhanced decohesion. The Vela pulsar is a young neutron star with spin period of P = 89 ms and a measured low braking index (˜1.4) that is much less than the standard value of 3 predicted by the magnetic dipole radiation (MDR) model; however, its spin period evolution has been a mystery. In this article, we assume that the spin‐down of the Vela pulsar is attributed to both MDR and wind flow (hereafter MDRW), and find that the ratio of wind flow to the magnetic dipole radiation is about 80%, which is higher than that of the Crab pulsar (25%). In other words, the spin‐down torque of the Vela pulsar is dominated by the wind flow. The spin period (P) evolution of the Vela pulsar depends on its real age, where its supernova remnant age is assumed to be an indicator of its true age, estimated from 10 to 20 kyr, and then we obtain their initial spin periods of ˜53.89 and ˜20.90 ms, respectively, which are consistent with the observed initial spin period ranges of young pulsars. Furthermore, we find that the Vela‐like pulsar by MDRW can evolve to the long spin period of a thousand of seconds in less than million years, which can conveniently help the astronomers understand the recently observed ultra‐long period radio pulsars like GPM J1839‐10 (P = 21 min), GLEAM‐X J1627 (P = 18 min), as well as PSR J0901+4046 (P = 76 s). Simple Summary: In this study, we aimed to improve the culture system for chicken embryonic-derived pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). These cells have immense potential in various fields, such as growth and development studies, vaccine production, and preserving genetic resources. However, establishing a stable and efficient culture system for chicken PSCs remains a challenge. We investigated the effects of different signaling pathways and feeder layers on the derivation and maintenance of chicken PSCs. Our results show that using STO cells as feeder layers, along with specific signaling pathway inhibitors, allows for the efficient derivation of chicken PSC-like cells. These cells exhibit characteristics of pluripotency and can differentiate into various cell types. This research enhances our understanding of chicken PSC culture conditions and lays the groundwork for their biomedical and biotechnological applications. The utilization of chicken embryonic-derived pluripotent stem cell (PSC) lines is crucial in various fields, including growth and development, vaccine and protein production, and germplasm resource protection. However, the research foundation for chicken PSCs is relatively weak, and there are still challenges in establishing a stable and efficient PSC culture system. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effects of the FGF2/ERK and WNT/β-catenin signaling pathways, as well as different feeder layers, on the derivation and maintenance of chicken embryonic-derived PSCs. The results of this study demonstrate that the use of STO cells as feeder layers, along with the addition of FGF2, IWR-1, and XAV-939 (FIX), allows for the efficient derivation of chicken PSC-like cells. Under the FIX culture conditions, chicken PSCs express key pluripotency genes, such as POUV, SOX2, and NANOG, as well as specific proteins SSEA-1, C-KIT, and SOX2, indicating their pluripotent nature. Additionally, the embryoid body experiment confirms that these PSC-like cells can differentiate into cells of three germ layers in vitro, highlighting their potential for multilineage differentiation. Furthermore, this study reveals that chicken Eyal–Giladi and Kochav stage X blastodermal cells express genes related to the primed state of PSCs, and the FIX culture system established in this research maintains the expression of these genes in vitro. These findings contribute significantly to the understanding and optimization of chicken PSC culture conditions and provide a foundation for further exploration of the biomedical research and biotechnological applications of chicken PSCs. In the conventional partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method, all partial inductances are connected at both ends to other circuit elements of a PEEC or modified nodal approach (MNA), simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis (SPICE) type circuit. This article shows that if at least one end of a partial inductance remains without a connected element, it is called an open loop, which is also physical and is theoretically closed by displacement current. It is shown in this article that the open loop is only consistent if the partial inductance is evaluated using the Coulomb gauge; else, the magnetic energy computation of open loop is inconsistent. This article focuses on the difference and presents an analytical method for the calculation of partial inductance with Coulomb gauge in quasi-static field to figure it out. This difference is proven to be related to the calculation of vector potential A, whereas existing calculation is based on Lorentz gauge. Then, analytical results of conductor segments are derived for comparison of the two different gauges, and show the difference. Also, numerical experiments of the self- and mutual-partial inductances of conductor segments in open-loop problems are given for further comparison. The results illustrate that the proposed method is consistent with magnetic energy, and could be directly be applied to closed-loop problems without affecting the validity of the PEEC method. Chicken primordial germ cells (PGCs) are important cells with significant implications in preserving genetic resources, chicken breeding and production, and basic research on genetics and development. Currently, chicken PGCs can be cultured long-term in vitro to produce single-cell clones. However, systematic exploration of the cellular characteristics of these single-cell clonal lines has yet to be conducted. In this study, single-cell clonal lines were established from male and female PGCs of Rugao Yellow Chicken and Shouguang Black Chicken, respectively, using a micropipette-based method for single-cell isolation and culture. Analysis of glycogen granule staining, mRNA expression of pluripotency marker genes (POUV , SOX2 , NANOG), germ cell marker genes (DAZL , CVH), and SSEA-1, EMA-1, SOX2, C -KIT, and CVH protein expression showed positive results, indicating that PGCs maintain normal cellular properties after single-cell cloning. Furthermore, tests on proliferation ability and gene expression levels in PGC single-cell clonal lines showed high expression of the pluripotency-related genes and TERT compared to control PGCs, and PGC single-cell clonal lines demonstrated higher proliferation ability. Finally, green fluorescent protein (GFP)-PGC single-cell clonal lines were established, and it was found that these single-cell clonal lines could still migrate into the gonads of recipients, suggesting their potential for germ-line transmission. Simple Summary: The in vitro maturation of oocytes is important for animal husbandry and assisted reproductive technology, but due to the higher oxidative stress in the in vitro environment compared with the in vivo environment, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of this process by alleviating in vitro oxidative stress. Eupatilin is a flavonoid compound with various activities, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-tumoral activities. It is currently unclear whether it can reduce oxidative stress and improve the efficiency of the in vitro maturation of oocytes. The results of this study indicate that adding eupatilin to the in vitro maturation medium can alleviate oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and DNA damage in oocytes, further stimulating the maturation rate and embryo rate of porcine oocytes. It is expected to improve in vitro maturation efficiency and improve the composition of the medium. Eupatilin (5,7-dihydroxy-3′,4′,6-trimethoxyflavone) is a flavonoid derived from Artemisia plants that has beneficial biological activities, such as anti-apoptotic, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities. However, the protective effects of eupatilin against oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress in porcine oocyte maturation are still unclear. To investigate the effect of eupatilin on the development of porcine oocytes after in vitro maturation and parthenogenetic activation, we added different concentrations of eupatilin in the process of porcine oocyte maturation in vitro, and finally selected the optimal concentration following multiple comparisons and analysis of test results using SPSS (version 17.0; IBM, Chicago, IL, USA) software. The results showed that 0.1 μM eupatilin supplementation did not affect the expansion of porcine cumulus cells, but significantly increased the extrusion rate of porcine oocyte polar bodies, the subsequent blastocyst formation rate, and the quality of parthenogenetically activated porcine embryos. Additionally, it reduced the level of reactive oxygen species in cells and increased glutathione production. Further analysis revealed that eupatilin supplementation could reduce apoptosis, DNA double-strand breaks, and endoplasmic reticulum stress. In conclusion, supplementation with 0.1 μM eupatilin during in vitro maturation improved oocyte maturation and subsequent embryo development by reducing oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress. Background: Participants with prediabetes are at a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D). Recent studies have suggested that blocking the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) may improve glucose metabolism and delay the development of T2D. However, the effect of denosumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody that inhibits RANKL, on glycemic parameters in the prediabetes population is uncertain. We aim to examine the effect of denosumab on glucose metabolism in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and prediabetes. Methods: This is a 12-month multicenter, open-label, randomized controlled trial involving postmenopausal women who have been diagnosed with both osteoporosis and prediabetes. Osteoporosis is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a bone mineral density T score of ≤ − 2.5, as measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Prediabetes is defined as (i) a fasting plasma glucose level of 100–125 mg/dL, (ii) a 2-hour plasma glucose level of 140–199 mg/dL, or (iii) a glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) level of 5.7–6.4%. A total of 346 eligible subjects will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either subcutaneous denosumab 60 mg every 6 months or oral alendronate 70 mg every week for 12 months. The primary outcome is the change in HbA1c levels from baseline to 12 months. Secondary outcomes include changes in fasting and 2-hour blood glucose levels, serum insulin levels, C-peptide levels, and insulin sensitivity from baseline to 12 months, and the incidence of T2D at the end of the study. Follow-up visits will be scheduled at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. Discussion: This study aims to provide evidence on the efficacy of denosumab on glucose metabolism in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and prediabetes. The results derived from this clinical trial may provide insight into the potential of denosumab in preventing T2D in high-risk populations. Aim: This review aimed to synthesize the available evidence on the effectiveness of nurse‐led multidisciplinary interventions in primary health care. Methods: The following Chinese and English databases were searched for relevant articles: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), from the establishment of the databases until the last updating search 1 April 2022. Two researchers screened the studies independently and extracted the data. Meta‐analysis was performed using the RevMan 5.3 software. Results: A total of 12 studies were included in this review. It was found that nurse‐led multidisciplinary interventions significantly shortened patients' length of stay in hospital (standardized mean differences [SMD] = −1.28, 95%CI: −2.03 to −0.54; P<0.001) and decreased incidences of complications (RR = 0.24, 95%CI:0.10 to 0.54; P = 0.0006) compared to the control group, and lowered patients' anxiety levels (SMD = −1.21, 95%CI: −1.99 to −0.44; P<0.01) and depression levels (SMD = −1.85, 95%CI: −3.42 to −0.28; P<0.0001). Furthermore, the results of subgroup analysis indicated that nurse‐led multidisciplinary interventions had significant effects on patients' self‐management ability (SMD = 4.45, 95%CI:2.45 to 6.44; P<0.0001) and quality of life (SMD = 1.01, 95%CI: 0.63 to 1.40; P<0.0001) compared to the control group. Conclusions: Nurse‐led multidisciplinary interventions had strong effects in primary health care, contributing to shorten patients' length of stay in hospital, decrease incidences of complications and reduce the levels of anxiety and depression. Invaluable paper relics that embody a rich traditional culture have suffered damage, requiring urgent restoration. In this context, the utilization of soymilk as a sizing agent holds great significance and reverence. This study investigates the use of soymilk as a sizing agent for Xuan paper and evaluates its effects on various properties and the long-term behavior of the paper. The findings reveal that the application of soymilk as a sizing agent for Xuan paper imparts distinct properties, including hydrophobicity, improved mechanical properties, and unique chromaticity. These characteristics—arising from the papillae on the surface of the Xuan paper, the protein folding of the soy protein, and hydrogen-bonding interactions between the soy protein and paper fibers—play a crucial role in shaping the paper's unique attributes. From a physicochemical perspective, the aging process leads to multiple changes in paper properties. These changes include acidification, which refers to a decrease in pH, as well as a decline in mechanical strength, an increase in chromaticity, and a decrease in the degree of polymerization (DP) of the paper. The Ekenstam equation is employed to predict the lifespan of the paper, showing longer lifespans for Sheng Xuan paper and a negative correlation between soymilk concentration and lifespan in soymilk-sized paper. Zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing 4 (ZSCAN4), a DNA-binding protein, maintains telomere length and plays a key role in critical aspects of mouse embryonic stem cells, including maintaining genomic stability and defying cellular senescence. However, the effect of ZSCAN4 in porcine parthenogenetic embryos remains unclear. To investigate the function of ZSCAN4 and the underlying mechanism in porcine embryo development, ZSCAN4 was knocked down via dsRNA injection in the one-cell stage. ZSCAN4 was highly expressed in the four- and five- to eight-cell stages in porcine embryos. The percentage of four-cell stage embryos, five- to eight-cell stage embryos, and blastocysts was lower in the ZSCAN4 knockdown group than in the control group. Notably, depletion of ZSCAN4 induced the protein expression of DNMT1 and 5-Methylcytosine (5mC, a methylated form of the DNA base cytosine) in the four-cell stage. The H3K27ac level and ZGA genes expression decreased following ZSCAN4 knockdown. Furthermore, ZSCAN4 knockdown led to DNA damage and shortened telomere compared with the control. Additionally, DNMT1-dsRNA was injected to reduce DNA hypermethylation in ZSCAN4 knockdown embryos. DNMT1 knockdown rescued telomere shortening and developmental defects caused by ZSCAN4 knockdown. Y‐box binding protein 1 (YBX1) is a member of the family of DNA‐ and RNA‐binding proteins that play crucial roles in multiple aspects, including RNA stabilization, translational repression, and transcriptional regulation; however, its roles in embryo development remain less known. In this study, to investigate the function of YBX1 and its mechanism of action in porcine embryo development, YBX1 was knocked down by microinjecting YBX1 siRNA at the one‐cell stage. YBX1 is located in the cytoplasm during embryonic development. The mRNA level of YBX1 was increased from the four‐cell stage to the blastocyst stage but was significantly decreased in YBX1 knockdown embryos compared with the control. Moreover, the percentage of blastocysts was decreased following YBX1 knockdown compared with the control. Defecting YBX1 expression increased maternal gene mRNA expression and decreased zygotic genome activation (ZGA) gene mRNA expression and histone modification owing to decreased levels of N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) writer N6‐adenosine‐methyltransferase 70 kDa subunit (METTL3) and reader insulin‐like growth factor 2 mRNA‐binding protein (IGF2BP1). In addition, IGF2BP1 knockdown showed that YBX1 regulated the ZGA process through m6A modification. In conclusion, YBX1 is essential for early embryo development because it regulates the ZGA process. Heat stress (HS) is a long-standing hurdle that animals face in the living environment. Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a strong antioxidant synthesized by plants and animals. The present study evaluated the mechanism of ALA action in HS-induced early porcine parthenotes development. Parthenogenetically activated porcine oocytes were divided into three groups: control, high temperature (HT) (42 °C for 10 h), and HT + ALA (with 10 µM ALA). The results show that HT treatment significantly reduced the blastocyst formation rate compared to the control. The addition of ALA partially restored the development and improved the quality of blastocysts. Moreover, supplementation with ALA not only induced lower levels of reactive oxygen species and higher glutathione levels but also markedly reduced the expression of glucose regulatory protein 78. The protein levels of heat shock factor 1 and heat shock protein 40 were higher in the HT + ALA group, which suggests activation of the heat shock response. The addition of ALA reduced the expression of caspase 3 and increased the expression of B-cell lymphoma-extra-large protein. Collectively, this study revealed that ALA supplementation ameliorated HS-induced apoptosis by suppressing oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stresses via activating the heat shock response, which improved the quality of HS-exposed porcine parthenotes. To compare the biomechanical stability of slide compression anatomic plates of the femoral neck, cannulated compression screws and dynamic hip screws with derotation screws for stabilizing unstable femoral neck fractures (Pauwels angle = 70°). Pauwels III femoral neck fractures were created on 45 Sawbones femurs and randomly assigned to three implant groups (1:1:1). The biomechanical stability of all Sawbones in each treatment group was evaluated with three tests. First, in the static loading test, the load–displacement curve, vertical stiffness (load/vertical displacement [N/mm]) and 5 mm failure load were recorded. Second, in the incremental cyclic loading test (700, 1000, and 1400 N), the cyclic−displacement curve and the displacement of the fragments were recorded. Third, in the torsion test, the torsional rigidity, maximum torque, and torsional angle corresponding to the maximum torque were recorded. The static compression test showed that slide compression anatomic place‐femoral neck (SCAP‐FN) had the largest vertical stiffness (275 ± 11 N/mm, p < 0.01) and 5 mm failure load (1232 ± 156, p < 0.01). The cyclic loading test showed that SCAP‐FN had the lowest change in displacement after 30000 cycles of loading. The torsional stiffness and the maximum torque followed the order SCAP‐FN > dynamic hip screw systems (DHS) + derotational screw (DS) > CCS, and the torsional angle corresponding to the maximum torque followed the order SCAP‐FN < DHS + DS < CCS. The SCAP‐FN construct provides stiffness and stability compared with other standard fixation techniques (3CS and DHS + DS). Purpose: This study was to test the hypothesis that intramedullary (IM) nailing fixation of midshaft clavicle fractures could result in better clinical outcomes and lower complications rates than plating fixation.Methods: PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library database were used to search all English language published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of midshaft clavicle fractures using plating versus IM nailing. The characteristics of the study participants were collected. Outcomes of postoperative shoulder functional measurements, operative data and complications rates were meta-analyzed.Results: Eight hundred and ninety-five patients in ten RCTs and three quasi-RCTs were involved in the meta-analysis. The results of meta-analysis of these studies showed that the functional outcome evaluated by the Constant Shoulder and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) scores after accepting IM nailing was significantly better than that of plating fixation at one year post-operatively (P < 0.01), with the heterogeneity of 43% and 91%, respectively. Sensitivity analyses of the pooled results of Constant and DASH scores displayed that the functional advantage of IM nailing fixation comes from the subgroup of locked IM nailing. Further, regarding the operative statistics, operative time, blood loss and wound length were significantly less in the IM nailing group than the plating group (P < 0.001). The rates of infection, major complications and complications-related revision surgery were significantly higher in the plating group than the IM nailing group; however, there were no significantly statistical differences in other complications, e.g., nonunion, refracture after hardware removal, implant failure, symptomatic hardware, etc. (P > 0.05).Conclusion: The observations in this review suggested that IM nailing, especially locked IM nailing, could provide better shoulder functional outcome at one-year follow-up. Moreover, IM nailing fixation could effectively reduce operative time, blood loss, rates of infection, major complications, and revision surgery than plating. Further high-quality clinical trials with large samples and consistent designs are still needed to verify the long-term functional advantage of locked and unlocked IM nailing for midshaft clavicle fractures.Level Of Evidence: Level II. Condition monitoring of insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules is an effective way to improve the transient performance and reliability of modular multilevel converters (MMC). This article proposes a novel bond wire failure monitoring method for the multichip IGBT modules in the MMC half-bridge submodule (SM) structure. The collector voltage undershoot VCA(np) of the complementary IGBT switch is measured during the turn-off switching transition of the controlled IGBT switch. VCA(np) is sensitive to the induced voltage over the stray inductance of the IGBT bond wires and provides high sensitivity as a health indicator. The non-intrusive measurement technique is demonstrated using a half-bridge circuit during the turn-off transition of the controlled IGBT, while its complementary switch (i.e., the device under test) is in the off state. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the parametric drift due to wire bonding failures can be effectively monitored with high specific relative sensitivity and granularity. To ensure its effectiveness in practical applications, the influence of load current, SM capacitor voltage, and junction temperature is discussed. In addition, a readout circuit is designed featuring the integrated desaturation detection and voltage peak detection, which offers both the short-term overcurrent fault protection and long-term bond wire aging monitoring functions. Background: Activating transcription factor 7 (ATF7) is a member of the ATF/cAMP response element (CRE) B superfamily. ATF2, ATF7, and CRE‐BPa are present in vertebrates. Drosophila and fission yeast have only one homologue: dATF2 and Atf1, respectively. Under normal conditions, ATF7 promotes heterochromatin formation by recruiting histone H3K9 di‐ and tri‐methyltransferases. Once the situation changes, all members are phosphorylated by the stress‐activated kinase P38 in response to various stressors. However, the role of ATF7 in early porcine embryonic development remains unclear. Results: In this study, we found that ATF7 gradually accumulated in the nucleus and then localized on the pericentric heterochromatin after the late 4‐cell stage, while being co‐localized with heterochromatin protein 1 (HP1). Knockdown of ATF7 resulted in decreases in the blastocyst rate and blastocyst cell number. ATF7 depletion resulted in downregulation of HP1 and histone 3 lysine 9 dimethylation (H3K9me2) expression. These effects were alleviated when P38 activity was inhibited. High temperatures increased the expression level of pP38, while reducing the quality of porcine embryos, and led to ATF7 phosphorylation. The expression level of H3K9me2 and HP1 was decreased and regulated by P38 activity. The understanding of intrinsic kinetics was crucial in guiding reactor design. However, the intrinsic kinetics of catalytic hydrogenation of p-nitroanisole (PNA) to p-aminoanisole remains obscure. In this work, the kinetic characteristics were experimentally and theoretically investigated under various experimental conditions. From the power law analysis of the initial reaction rate, the reaction order was found to be from 0.34 (at 343 K) to 0.53 (at 353 K) for hydrogen and 0.31∼ 0.34 for PNA (at concentrations less than 90 g·L−1), while the reaction was considered to be zero-order under higher PNA concentration (>90 g·L−1). The data was also used to fit Eley-Rideal and Langmuir-Hinshelwood-Hougen-Watson (LHHW) models. It was found that the rate-controlling step was the adsorption of dual-site dissociative H 2 based on LHHW model. The accuracy of the screened model was verified by correlation, between the predicted data and experimental data. In mammals, E2 factor (E2F) acts as a cell cycle regulator. E2F transcription factor 4 (E2F4) is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors and usually represents predominant E2F activity in cells. The E2F4 gene has been extensively studied in animals and is associated with multiple functions, such as cell cycle regulation and apoptosis; however, little is known about its role during embryonic development. In this study, we investigated the function of E2F4 and its mechanism of action in porcine embryo development. For this purpose, we knocked down E2F4 by microinjecting double-stranded RNA of E2F4 at the 1-cell stage. The results showed that E2F4 knockdown in porcine embryos led to a significant decrease in the blastocyst rate and total cell number. Defective E2F4 expression reduced the level of G1/S checkpoints (cyclin E-cyclin-dependent kinase 2) and cell cycle-related gene expression at the 4-cell embryo stage and blastocyst. Moreover, a decrease in E2F4 expression increased phosphorylated H2A.X variant histones and activated ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) and p53-p21 pathway. In addition, E2F4 depletion caused a significant decrease in histone acetylation. Taken together, E2F4 plays a critical role as a transcriptional activator in the development of porcine embryos, an observation that contradicts its well-established role as a transcription repressor. • E2F4 affected porcine embryonic development. • E2F4 induced DNA damage and G1/S arrest in porcine embryos. • E2F4 decreased histone acetylation in porcine embryos. Propagation of an electromagnetic (EM) pulse in an underdense plasma can either generate a wakefield or excite soliton wave, which depends on the competition between the linear dispersion and nonlinear self-modulation of the wave. Here, we study the interaction of the EM pulse and relativistic hot plasma analytically and numerically and reveal the physical mechanism of the transition from wakefield generation to soliton excitation in terms of soliton stability and modulation instability (MI) of a plane wave. Starting from the relativistic hot fluid-Maxwell model, a nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) governing the amplitude of scalar potential is obtained by using a multi-scale perturbation technique. The bright and dark soliton solutions of the NLSE are obtained analytically. The stability phase diagram of solitons is given numerically. Furthermore, the MI of the plane wave is studied, and the stability phase diagram of MI is obtained. The results indicate that, when the plasma density increases, the propagation of the EM pulse in the plasma experiences wakefield–soliton transition, which depends on the thermal effect. Turn-off failure under clamped inductive load, is one of the most concerns in insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) chips. Besides, this turn-off failure can be attributed to two causes, i.e., the dynamic latch-up and the secondary breakdown. Despite great simulation work investigated previously, the experimental research should be further focused. Up to now, the typical features and differences for these two turn-off failures still remain unclear. In this article, two failures’ waveforms are first compared in experiment. Moreover, their internal current, electric field, and temperature distributions are compared by simulation in detail. Then, two different failure features, focusing on the failure cell structures, are summarized from the scanning electron microscope (SEM) results for the first time. The marked signatures of these failures, such as the current filament path and the mixture region, are further analyzed in this article. According to the SEM results, the lateral and vertical current paths can be observed in dynamic latch-up chip and secondary breakdown chip, respectively. These failure signatures in waveforms and SEM results can contribute to the distinguished method to the failure causes in IGBT device, and enhance the chip's performance more effectively. Rotenone is a commonly used insecticidal chemical in agriculture and it is an inhibitor of mitochondrial complex Ⅰ. Previous studies have found that rotenone induces the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by inhibiting electron transport in the mitochondria of somatic and germ cells. However, there is little precise information on the effects of rotenone exposure in porcine oocytes during in vitro maturation, and the mechanisms underlying these effects have not been determined. The Cumulus-oocyte complexes were supplemented with different concentrations of rotenone to elucidate the effects of rotenone exposure on the meiotic maturation of porcine oocytes during in vitro maturation for about 48 hours. First, we found that the maturation rate and expansion of cumulus cells were significantly reduced in the 3 and 5 μM rotenone-treated groups. Subsequently, the concentration of rotenone was determined to be 3 μM. Also, immunofluorescence, western blotting, and image quantification analyses were performed to test the rotenone exposure on the meiotic maturation, total and mitochondrial ROS, mitochondrial function and biogenesis, mitophagy and apoptosis in porcine oocytes. Further experiments showed that rotenone treatment induced mitochondrial dysfunction and failure of mitochondrial biogenesis by repressing the level of SIRT1 during in vitro maturation of porcine oocytes. In addition, rotenone treatment reduced the ratio of active mitochondria to total mitochondria, increased ROS production, and decreased ATP production. The levels of LC3 and active-caspase 3 were significantly increased by rotenone treatment, indicating that mitochondrial dysfunction induced by rotenone increased mitophagy but eventually led to apoptosis. The Baimashan granitic complex in central Hunan is a giant multiphase complex pluton within the South China Plate, which contains three phases (the Shuiche, Longtan‐Xiaoshajiang, and Longcangwan superunits). It is located in the Jiangnan Orogenic Belt and is of great significance for the study of the regional tectonic magmatic evolution. Herein, we utilized zircon U–Pb dating, major and trace element geochemistry, and zircon Hf isotope geochemistry for three of the Baimashan granitic complexes; data for the Longcangwan superunit were obtained from previous studies. The new zircon U–Pb ages of 418 ± 3.2 Ma and 223 ± 2.6 Ma for the Shuiche and Longtan‐Xiaoshajiang superunits, respectively, suggest the existence of Late Silurian and Late Triassic magmatism. Both superunits exhibited weak peraluminosity and high‐K calc‐alkaline and weak negative Eu anomalies, which are similar to those of I‐type granites. The Longcangwan superunit showed strong peraluminosity and high‐K calc‐alkaline and stronger negative Eu anomalies; Hf isotope and mineralogical evidence suggest that it is a fractionated I‐type granite. The zircon Hf(t) values and two‐stage depleted mantle Hf model ages revealed that the magma of the Baimashan granitic complex originates from the partial melting of metamorphic igneous rocks; the crust–mantle differentiation age in the source area was 1.5–1.7 Ga for Longtan‐Xiaoshajiang and Longcangwan and 1.7–1.9 Ga for Shuiche. The superunits formed in a post‐collisional extensional tectonic setting. In the case of the Shuiche supersuit this is related to the remote effect of the interaction of the South China Plate with the Australian‐Indian margin of Eastern Gondwana. The formation of the Longtan‐Xiaoshajiang and Longcangwan superunits is linked to the remote effect of the Indosinian and South China Plate collision and the superimposition of the subduction of the Palaeo‐Pacific Plate.
