The captivating tribal communities living across the length and breadth of the state of Central India and mostly in Odisha have enriched the cultural heritage of the region by their cultural diversities. Gadaba's religious life reflected through their rich folk traditions of songs, dance, music, rituals and festivals celebrated round the year adds colourful dimensions to their very existence. The amazing conglomeration of traditions, beliefs, sorrows and philosophies that together constitute and vitalize the religion of tribes has descended from antiquity and has been preserved unimpaired to the present day. Every dimension of their life covering round the year activities is intimately connected with religion and the world view associated with it. It is these aspects of their culture that give meaning and depth to their lives and solidarity to their social structure. However, in recent days many changes have been taken place in traditional religious life of Gadaba tribe. Against this backdrop, this paper has tried to explore some of that core structure of Gadaba's religious life as well as the changing dimensions of their religious manifestation. This paper contributes to 'visiting friends and relatives' (VFR) discussions within migration and diaspora literatures by proposing a closer theorization of religious mobilities through the conceptual framework of 'diasporic pilgrimage'. It advances VFR thinking by considering religion as a productive analytical category to interrogate relationships between people and place which sustain and constitute diasporic connection and attachment. This will be explored through the experiences and encounters of Palestinian–Jordanian Christians undertaking visits to places of religious and relational significance across Israel and/or Palestine from Jordan. Through an exploration of ethnographic data collected amongst diasporic Palestinian Christians living in Jordan, diasporic pilgrimage will be theorized as a localized process critically engaging with everyday facets of familiarity and regularity. This will revolve around three main elements of diasporic pilgrimage: translocal connections, temporalities and power geometries which constitute visits from Jordan and the so‐called 'Holy Land' a diasporic form of religious mobility. In this paper will show an ethnography about the visit of El Niño Doctor to the city of Puebla in 2019 to participate in the Holy Friday procession, along with other sacred entities that also parade in said ritual act. The remarkable thing about this religious act is that it is the first time that both the mentioned sacred infantile entity and El Señor de las Maravillas meet in the capital city of Puebla. Both sacred entities are the most popular in the federal entity of Puebla. Using the resources of symbolic anthropology, mainly, the cultural and political impacts that said religious event produces a little beyond the sphere of religion are shown. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

How do algorithms shape the experience of facts? Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in Limón, Costa Rica, this paper explores the role of algorithms in mediating three kinds of “factishes”: data truths, affective facts, and mystic revelations. The article unfolds as a series of stories that capture the interactions between Costa Ricans and the algorithms of social media platforms. To analyze these relationships, we develop a “ventriloquist” ethnographic approach that gives voice to algorithms by interpreting extant literature and the experiences of our interlocutors. We argue that algorithms enable individuals to navigate composite realities and assume multiple positions within them rather than merely conflating truth and fiction or strictly separating them. The paper provides a critical overview of the perspective that stratifies society in India into a series of different classes, resulting in the mobility of particular castes or social groups. For this purpose, the study presents ethnographic material concerning the foundation and development of a non-Brahman temple in the Tamil low-caste settlement of Line Kollai, which is in a neighbourhood close to the city of Krishnagiri. The presented ethnographic material shows how a religious folk cult has been established on the grounds of actualized and modified motives in the vernacular environment. In this line, the study analyses wider contexts of social and religious demands articulated through possession mediumship and ritual performance, culminating in the annual celebration of the wedding between Goddess Yellamā and her consort Nagaraj. The significance of attempts to integrate socio-religious activities into the network of social relationships and the system of local beliefs is explored through the narrative and practices prevalent among the participants of the cult. The presented evidence suggests that, rather than highlight a distinction in belief and practices among different social groups, it seems more appropriate to understand the social strategies within the system or relationships embodied in the power discourse. Against a backdrop of faith-based alcohol treatment 'filling the gaps' left by long term restructuring of service provision, funding cuts and marketisation of health and social care this paper makes connections between critical geographies of alcohol policy and service-users everyday lives in England and Wales. Presenting ethnographic research I highlight strategies, practices and performances - 'playing the game'- as service users navigate the multi-scalar impacts of 'austerity' policies, rollback neoliberal governance and 'recovery citizenship' focused on notions of vulnerablity, responsibilisation and 'underclass' behavioural politics. More specifically, the study foregrounds 'fitting in'; 'faking it'; 'conspiracy theories'; and/or 'spiritual journeys' to evidence service-users complex and sophisticated knowledges and experiences of contemporary landscapes of alcohol policy and treatment regimes.
