Additive manufacturing of components with enhanced characteristics to combine the geometrical flexibility of layer-by-layer manufacturing and the remarkable thermomechanical and optical properties of advanced materials has become a focus for research in the last decades. In this investigation, in-house developed Al 2 O 3 slurries mixed with either MgO or MgAl 2 O 4 were digitally light processed and the resulting green parts underwent slow thermal debinding at low heating rates to produce dense and stable brown samples, which were subsequently subjected to different sintering regimes to obtain translucent samples. Air sintering trials were conducted at 1700 °C and the effect of different heating rates and holding times at the sintering temperature were investigated. In addition, vacuum sintering at 1600 °C was conducted for the best conditions to assess the effect of an oxygen-reduced atmosphere. Geometrical dimensions and density data were collected at the brown and fired stages to observe their evolution through the process with the help of high-magnification optical microscopy. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the sintered samples were collected to observe and characterise the obtained microstructure. In addition, X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to identify the crystal structure and assess the insurgence of secondary phases. Finally, total transmittance and in-line transmittance were measured to evaluate the translucency level achieved by the produced sintered samples. Translucent alumina samples exhibiting a maximum total transmittance of 90.4% and a maximum real in-line transmittance (RIT) of 16.9% in the visible and near-infrared regions were fabricated. NiSi–NiCr thin film thermocouples (TFTCs) have significant application value as contact temperature sensors in cutting temperature measurements owing to their fast response and negligible volume. However, due to the relatively high chemical activity of Ni-based alloys, high-temperature oxidation strongly affects the operational reliability of NiSi–NiCr TFTCs. In this respect, depositing an anti-oxidation coating onto the surface of NiSi–NiCr TFTCs is considered an effective way to protect them in high-temperature environments. In this study, NiSi and NiCr films were deposited on cemented carbides and annealed at 200 °C–600 °C in air. Scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and four-probe resistivity tests were used to characterize the microstructure and resistivity of NiSi and NiCr film. Then SiN x O y films were deposited onto the NiSi and NiCr films and compared with uncoated samples after annealing at 600 °C. The effect of SiN x O y films on the thermal stability and thermoelectric output of NiSi–NiCr TFTCs was investigated. The results show that the NiSi film was partially oxidized at 200 °C and entirely oxidized when the temperature exceeded 400 °C. The completely oxidized NiSi films had evident defects and cracks, and the resistivity increased by a factor of over 1000. The NiCr film could not be completely oxidized at 600 °C, which is attributed to the formation of Cr 2 O 3 as an external oxide barrier layer. Below 600 °C, SiN x O y films could effectively protect NiSi and NiCr films from oxidation. This work's main objective is to assess the effects of wollastonite/fluorapatite glass (G) and glass-ceramic (GC) on tricalcium silicate's (TCS) bioactivity and physico-mechanical properties. To achieve this goal, 10 and 20 wt percent of G or GC were used in place of TCS. The constructed specimens were kept submerged in SBF solution for 4 weeks at a temperature of approximately 37 ± 0.5 °C to create the hydroxyapatite layer (HA) on the cement paste surface and evaluate their biological behavior. Additionally measured were bulk density, apparent porosity, and compressive strength. The principal components had been studied using X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. An energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS)-equipped scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to examine the materials' morphology. The antibacterial and cytotoxic properties were also evaluated. The findings demonstrated that during soaking in SBF, bulk density and porosity ranged from 1.38 to 1.5 g/cm3 and from 44.99 to 39.12 %, respectively, and the results for compression strength varied from 65 to 88 MPa. The outcomes demonstrated that all of the prepared samples' surfaces had the hydroxyapatite layer (HA) formed on them following their immersion in the biological fluid (SBF). Additionally, it was discovered that raising the percentage of GC (TCS/20GC) in synthetic samples improves TCS cement's physico-mechanical and bioactivity characteristics. Furthermore, these substances had minimal cytotoxic effects on the typical fibroplast cell line of humans (BJ1), indicating their potential utility in dental applications. This work aims to modify the surface characteristics of cerium oxide (ceria, CeO 2) nanoparticles using different surface modification strategies for improved CeO 2 nanoparticle dispersion and suspension stability. Analysis and discussion were conducted on the two surface modification processes used by a cationic surfactant like hexadecyl cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and a silane agent like tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS). Untreated CeO 2 was used as reference material. The dispersion effect of surface-modified CeO 2 nanoparticles at different pHs was determined by zeta potential measurements. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Particle size analysis (PSA), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analysis (BET), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to confirm the efficacy of the surface modification of CeO 2 nanoparticles. First, the results obtained in this experimental work demonstrate that both advanced modifications greatly enhance the dispersion and suspension stability of surface-modified CeO 2 nanoparticles in comparison with untreated CeO 2 nanoparticles. Second, it is also shown that the surface-modified CeO 2 nanoparticles obtained through a silanization surface process with TEOS silane agent had a better dispersion effect and dispersion stability than the surface-modified CeO 2 nanoparticles obtained by surface modification with CTAB cationic surfactant. These results can help better understand how advanced surface modifications can assist the application of well-dispersed CeO 2 nanoparticles in technological applications. Background: Heterakis gallinarum (H. gallinarum) is a common poultry parasite that can be found in the ceca of many gallinaceous bird species, causing minor pathology and reduced weight gain. Most infections go unnoticed in commercial flocks due to the dependence on fecal egg counts, which are prone to false-negative diagnoses. Furthermore, there is a lack of research on gastrointestinal nematodes that use molecular identification methods, which could be essential for rapid diagnosis and developing efficient control approaches. As a result, the study aimed to look at the cause of mortality in layer chickens induced by H. gallinarum in Egyptian poultry farms using morphological, ultrastructural, and molecular characterization. Histopathological, immunohistochemical, and cell-mediated immune responses from damaged cecal tissues were also examined. Results: Seventy bird samples from ten-layer flocks of different breeds (Native, white, and brown layers) suffering from diarrhea, decreased egg output, and emaciation were collected. Cecal samples were collected from affected and non-affected birds and were examined for parasitic diseases using light and a scanning electron microscope. The mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase 1 (COX1) gene was used to characterize H. gallinarum. Our results showed that the collected nematodal worms were identified as H. gallinarum (male and female), further confirmed by COX1 gene amplification and sequence alignment. Gene expression analysis of the inflammatory markers in infected tissues showed a significant up-regulation of IL-2, IFN-γ, TLR-4, and IL-1β and a significant down-regulation of the anti-inflammatory IL-10. The mRNA level of the apoptotic cas-3 revealed apoptotic activity among the H. gallinarum samples compared to the control group. Conclusions: Our results implemented the use of molecular methods for the diagnosis of Heterakis, and this is the first report showing the tissue immune response following infection in layers: upregulation of IL-1β, IFN-γ, Il-2, and TLR-4, while down-regulation of anti-inflammatory IL-10 in cecal tissue, Cas-3 apoptotic activity and Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB)activity with immunophenotyping of T-cells in Heterakis infected tissue. Herein, a green synthesis methodology for making copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticle clusters in a cost-effective and simple way is reported. While cuprous sulfate pentahydrate is used as a source of copper, the outer layer of green peas (Pisum Sativum) is used as a source of phenol. Extracting the phenol from pea peels is a simple process that uses water as a solvent. Copper salt is reduced by the phenolic content that is so produced. Both physicochemical and microscopic characterization Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis were performed on the particles. A variety of pea-peeling samples were used during the procedure's several executions to ensure reproducibility. The preparation process was appropriate, as the outcomes were identical. Analyses were also conducted on the produced particles' electrochemical activity as an application. A well-defined and organized redox reaction was seen at E' = +0.25 V against Ag/AgCl which were also shown to be highly electro-active. With the benchmarked redox mediator (5 mM ferricyanide), the particles also produced an outstanding redox peak at E1/2 = -0.01 V vs. Ag/AgCl. In a common reducing organic reaction, such as the reduction of p-nitro phenol to p-amino phenol, they were also found to be effective catalysts. Additionally, tests were conducted on the produced particles for their anti-bacterial and antifungal properties. Ni 1-x Ag x O nanoparticles (NPs) with x = 0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, and 0.08) were fabricated using the composite hydroxide mediated (CHM) method. The effects of Ag doping on the structural, magnetic, and antimicrobial characteristics of NiO NPs have been reported. The stretching mode of the Ni–O molecules was identified at 443 cm−1 in the Fourier transform infrared spectra. The aggregation of nanoparticles with different sizes and shapes is seen under transmission and scanning electron microscopes. The blocking temperature (T B) peak in zero-field cooled (ZFC) magnetization curves display the magnetization from the core of NPs. This peak is absent for the samples with x = 0.00 and 0.02 , which show instead a small net magnetization from the antiferromagnetic core of these NPs. However, a T B peak was found for the samples with x = 0.04 , 0.06 and 0.08 , at 22, 72, and 65 K, respectively, which indicates that the magnetization is induced from the AFM core of NiO NPs for higher Ag doping. With an increasing concentration of Ag in the NiO NPs, the net magnetization did increase and a maximum was found for x = 0.04 at 300 K. For a higher doping concentration of 8 % Ag, a sharp decrease in magnetization was observed. Furthermore, the efficacy and synergistic effect of Ag doping had been analyzed for the effective improvement of the antibacterial properties of NiO NPs. Pure and Ag-doped NiO NPs were exploited to assess their anti-microbial activity against Enterobacter sp., E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and S. pyrogens. The study revealed that anti-bacterial or anti-biofouling properties were introduced as an additional attribute to NiO NPs by incorporation of Ag ions due to its inherent nature as an antimicrobial agent and enhanced its capability to sterilize microbial pathogens. In this work, novel Mn2+‐doped transparent NaYP2O7 glass–ceramics were prepared through melt‐quenching and subsequent thermal treatment. The surface crystallization method was confirmed based on the differential scanning calorimeter, X‐ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscope characterization. As the increase and prolong of the heat‐treatment temperature and time, the crystallinity of the NaYP2O7 glass–ceramics increases, while the transmittance gradually decreases. The optimal heat‐treatment regime is identified to be crystallized over 4 h at 580°C based on the crystallinity and transmittance. Under the excitation of 408 nm, both the Mn2+‐doped precursor glass and glass–ceramic crystallized at 580°C for 4 h generate a broad emission at 620 nm (4T2(g)→6A1(s)) with a full width at half‐maximum (FWHM) of ∼107 nm. The glass–ceramics exhibit higher emission intensity and longer decay lifetime than that of precursor glass with the aid of the low phonon energy NaYP2O7 crystals. The Mn2+‐doped glass–ceramic exhibits stable orange‐red luminescence with the chromaticity coordinates of (0.568, 0.428), low correlation color temperature of 1 800 K, high color purity of 98.88%, and low thermal quenching (70% at 373 K of the initial intensity at 298 K). Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic is the most widely used type of plastic that produces waste and causes various environmental and health problems. The treatment of PET plastic waste with chemically and mechanically recycling approaches still has shortcomings, so biological processing using microorganisms or enzymes has new potential. Two bacterial isolates from the Indonesian Culture Collection of National Research and Innovation Agency (InaCC, BRIN), namely isolate InaCC B538 and InaCC B947, were further observed for their potential in PET plastic degradation. Firstly, both isolates were determined by the molecular marker 16S rDNA. The potential of both isolates was measured with following method: 10 days of degradation using PET and PCL substrates, esterase enzyme activity assay, and observation of the PET plastic surface using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Species identification was performed using DNA sequencing of 16S rDNA. InaCC B538 and InaCC B947 were closely related to Bacillus altitudinis TBMAX41 and Alcaligenes faecalis AN-13, respectively. InaCC B947 isolate has a better potential in degrading PET plastic and PCL with a degradation percentage of 0.32% for PET plastic and 3.22% for PCL film for 10 days, respectively, and esterase activity of 0.06 U/ml; while InaCC B538 did not cause weight loss of PET and 2.49% for PCL, respectively, with esterase activity of 0.04 U/ml. This paper investigates the tensile behaviors and self-healing of engineered cementitious composite (ECC) under sulfate wet–dry cycles to reflect the durability. Four pretensile strain levels of 0%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% were designed. The uniaxial tensile test, three-point bending test, and single-crack tensile test were performed, along with the microscopic characterizations of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results indicated that the sulfate wet–dry cycle exposure had a positive effect on the tensile strength and initial cracking strength of the uncracked ECC, while that was negative on the tensile strain capacity. The insufficient margin of the σoc/σcr and Jb′/Jtip indices explained the lower tensile strain. The tensile strength and initial cracking strength of the cracked ECC with 1% pretensile strain surpassed those of the uncracked ECC after undergoing 80 sulfate wet–dry cycles (80 C), while that did not hold for the other cracked ECCs. All the cracked ECCs showed a similar tensile strain after undergoing 80 C. The crack with a width of less than 100 μm achieved complete self-healing. The self-healing products of ECC under sulfate wet–dry cycle exposure may comprise of calcium (alumino) silicate hydrate [C-(A)-S-H] gel, calcite, ettringite, and gypsum. This study uses fly-ash-based superplasticized geopolymer by adding a naphthalene-centered superplasticizer to the geopolymerized soil. Alkali-binder ratios and alkali-activator ratios are varied simultaneously with a molarity of 10M. The optimum dosages of binder, geopolymer, and superplasticized geopolymer are found from unconfined compression tests. California Bearing Ratio (CBR), pH, consolidation, water-holding capacity, and microstructure tests were performed on optimum dosages. The clayey soil's undrained shear strength and CBR value increased as the geopolymer was superplasticized. The 28-day undrained shear strength of geopolymerized clay was around 300 kPa, attained within three days of the curing period with superplasticized geopolymer. This is because adding a superplasticizer increases the polymerization reaction rate and improves the geopolymer's performance. The maximum undrained shear strength was attained within seven days of the curing period for both cases. The undrained shear strength after a curing period of 7, 14, and 28 days for geopolymer and superplasticized geopolymer was found to be almost the same value, which shows that after seven days, curing has little role in strength improvement. The hydraulic conductivity and coefficient of consolidation of geopolymerized soil increased with the addition of superplasticizer due to the reduction in fine particles and plasticity of the residual soil. Microstructural studies using scanning electron microscope and x-ray diffraction techniques showed an interaction between soil, geopolymer, and superplasticizer, thus confirming the formation of geopolymer gel and increased polymerization rate with the superplasticizer. The paper concerns the influence of heat treatment (annealing, quenching and aging) on the microstructure and hardness of flat bars samples from the CuAl10Ni5Fe4 alloy. The microstructures were observed in light and scanning electron microscopes. The appearance and area fractions of the martensite beta phase and their influence on the mechanical properties were examined. The annealing study at a temperature of 950 °C for 1 hour, followed by rapid quenching in water and subsequent tempering at a temperature of 350-500 °C for 15-120 minutes, demonstrated the potential for a significant increase in the hardness of aluminum bronze from approximately 200 HV3 up to 600 HV3. The mechanochemical ball milling process at 650°C for 5 h formed the single‐phase Bi2VO5.5 powder, which was tested as a catalyst for methylene blue (MB) dye degradation. X‐ray diffraction validated phase formation. A scanning electron microscope inspection verified the presence of grains with irregular shapes. Piezocatalytic MB dye degradation with a.4 g BV sample was ∼67% after 90 min in a ball mill and ∼49% after 180 min in an ultrasonicator. Utilizing a.4 g BV sample, the 90‐min investigation of piezocatalysis using a ball mill showed an 18% increase in degrading performance compared to the findings of the 180‐min study of piezocatalysis using ultrasonication. Ball mill employed piezocatalysis evaluation utilizing.4 g Bi2VO5.5 with 15 balls produces an excellent k value of.0109 min−1. Calcium silicate ceramics were successfully prepared at various temperatures by spark plasma sintering technique (SPS) using two different compositions, and their morphological and structural characteristics were thoroughly analyzed and compared by scanning electron microscope, X‐ray diffraction, and apparent density measurements. The effect of the sintering method and temperature on microstructural properties has also been studied. The sintered samples prepared by SPS through a heat input of 800°C showed the highest densification as results 800°C was suggested as optimum sintering temperature. Different phases presented in pseudo‐wollastonite, wollastonite, and triclinic Ca3(SiO4)O have been observed in the case of 50C50C with lowest porosity ∼6%$\sim \;6\% $ and highest density 2.6 g/cm3, whereas the composition 10C90S resulted in a fully amorphous material presented in granular microstructure with density of 1.7 g/cm3. An attempt has been made to fabricate electroless duplex (Ni-P-ZnO/Ni-P-SiC) coatings on the mild steel materials. Present investigation focused on ZnO and SiC nanoparticles concentration on the corrosion resistance and microhardness of duplex coating. Coated substrates are characterised by using the X-ray diffraction analyses to know the structure of deposit. Surface morphology and element composition was evaluated by means of scanning electron microscope (SEM) attached with the energy dispersive spectrometer (EDX). Coating was heat treated for 1 hour at 400°C temperature. Microhardness of the coatings was examined by using Vickers microhardness tester. Corrosion parameters of the duplex coating were evaluated by performing the potentiodynamic polarisation studies in 3.5% NaCl solution. Experimental observations confirm that Ni-P-SiC outer layered coating offers maximum microhardness and duplex coating with Ni-P-ZnO as external layer provides maximum corrosion protection. Maximum load bearing ability of SiC nanoparticles offers superior microhardness to the Ni-P-SiC external layer coatings. Higher electrochemical resistive ZnO nanoparticles provide good corrosion protection to the Ni-P-ZnO external layer coatings. [Display omitted] Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have received much attention in the realm of energy and catalytic conversion due to their maximum atomic efficiency. Herein, we report a cascade anchoring strategy for the preparation of a Cu-S 1 O 2 species of single-atom catalyst attached to a carbon carrier containing P and S (Cu-S 1 O 2 SA/CPS) with a content of 12.4 wt%. Over the Cu-S 1 O 2 SA/CPS catalyst, the conversion of 95.8% and selectivity of 87.2% for acetylene hydration could still be achieved at 70 h (T = 200°C, GHSV(C 2 H 2) = 90 h−1 and V H2O /V C2H2 = 4). X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) tests reveal that the Cu atoms of Cu-S 1 O 2 SA/CPS are predominantly coordinated in a trinary manner (Cu-S 1 O 2). Based on high-resolution aberration-corrected high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscope (HAADF-STEM), it is demonstrated that the Cu single-atom sites are highly dispersed in Cu-S 1 O 2 SA/CPS. It is evident from the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) that Cu-S 1 O 2 SA/CPS has a two-dimensional layered structure. The specific structure of the active site Cu is primarily attributed to the coordination of S and O atoms, resulting in its superior stability for acetylene hydration towards the synthesis of acetaldehyde. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations confirm that the formation of the Cu-S 1 O 2 site facilitates the activation of acetylene, which is a pivotal step in the acetylene hydration process and considered as the rate-determining step. This article not only introduces an innovative strategy in the synthesis of Cu SACs but also represents a significant breakthrough in the stability of Cu SACs in acetylene hydration. Using a trustworthy electrochemical sensor in the detection of urea in real blood samples received a great attention these days. A thin layer of nickel-coated nickel-manganese (Ni@NiMn) is electrodeposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GC) (Ni@NiMn/GC) surface and used to construct the electrochemical sensor for urea detection. Whereas, electrodeposition is considered as strong technique for the controllable synthesis of nanoparticles. Thus, X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscope (AFM), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques were used to characterize the produced electrode. AFM and SEM pictures revealed additional details about the surface morphology, which revealed a homogenous and smooth coating. Furthermore, electrochemical research was carried out in alkaline medium utilizing various electrochemical methods, including cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CA), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The electrochemical investigations showed that the electrode had good performance, high stability and effective charge transfer capabilities. The structural, morphological, and electrochemical characteristics of Ni@NiMn/GC electrodes were well understood using the analytical and electrochemical techniques. The electrode showed a limit of detection (LOD) equal to 0.0187 µM and a linear range of detection of 1.0–10 mM of urea. Furthermore, real blood samples were used to examine the efficiency of the prepared sensor. Increasing demand for electrical and electronic equipment results in the generation of a rapidly growing waste stream, known by the acronym WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of green sink–float treatment in sorting plastic polymers typically found in WEEE (PP, ABS, PA6, PS, and PVC). Molasses, a by-product of sugar bio-refining, was added in various concentrations to water to form solutions at different densities. The methodology was initially tested on virgin polymers; later, it was applied to plastics from a WEEE treatment plant. The polymers were characterised through near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIRS) analyses; the detection of any additives and flame retardants was conducted using the sliding spark technology (SSS2) and scanning electron microscope (SEM—EDX). The results showed that, for plastics from WEEE, the recovery efficiency was 55.85% for PP in a solution of tap water while the remaining part of PP (44.15%) was recovered in a solution of water to which 90% molasses was added. Furthermore, 100% recovery efficiency was obtained for PS and 93.73% for ABS in a solution of tap water with the addition of 10% w/v molasses. A ZrB2–copper–graphite composite was produced through powder metallurgy and was tested as a new electric brush material. The aim of this paper was to study the effect of ZrB2 addition on the composite's properties. Besides its physical properties such as density and resistivity, its mechanical properties, such as hardness, bending strength and wear resistance, were studied. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to study the morphology of the wear surface, and a configured energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS) was used to research the chemical composition of the samples. The results showed that, with the addition of ZrB2, the composite's properties such as density, resistivity, hardness, and bending strength improved significantly. Compared with samples without ZrB2, samples with the addition of 4% ZrB2 achieved a hardness of 87.5 HRA, which was improved by 45.8%, and a bending strength of 53.1 MPa, which was increased by nearly 50.0%. Composites with 1% content of ZrB2 showed the best wear resistance under non-conductive friction; however, under conductive friction, composites with 4% content of ZrB2 showed better wear resistance. The application of advanced high-strength steel grades (AHSS) in different kinds of industry is connected to more than their attractive mechanical properties. The present paper focuses on improving the welding Docol 1300M steel to reach an acceptable microstructure and mechanical parameters. It was decided to manufacture joints with different welding parameters using different filler materials. The electrode wires were varied to increase the carbon content in the weld, and nitrogen was added to the argon shielding mixture to obtain non-metallic inclusions that strengthen the fusion zone. Specimens of joints welded with the gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process for non-destructive and destructive tests were examined. Tensile and bending tests as well as microscopic inspections using a light (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were also conducted. The results from the fatigue test confirmed the validity of the proposed welding process for the Docol 1300M joint. The collected data enabled the following conclusion: The article's novelty is represented by the use of shielding gas mixtures containing argon and nitrogen in the GMAW welding process of AHSS steel to create titanium non-metallic inclusions, which will translate into better performance properties of the entire joint. This paper reports the results of our study on electrochemical polishing of titanium and a Ti-based alloy using non-aqueous electrolyte. It was shown that electropolishing ensured the removal of surface defects, thereby providing surface smoothing and decreasing surface roughness. The research was conducted using samples made of titanium and Ti6Al4V alloy, as well as implant system elements: implant analog, multiunit, and healing screw. Electropolishing was carried out under a constant voltage (10–15 V) with a specified current density. The electrolyte used contained methanol and sulfuric acid. The modified surface was subjected to a thorough analysis regarding its surface morphology, chemical composition, and physicochemical properties. Scanning electron microscope images and profilometer tests of roughness confirmed significantly smoother surfaces after electropolishing. The surface profile analysis of processed samples also yielded satisfactory results, showing less imperfections than before modification. This study aimed to fabricate and characterize a novel colorimetric indicator designed to detect ammonia (NH3) and monitor meat freshness. The sensing platform was constructed using electrospun nanofibers made from polylactic acid (PLA), which were then impregnated with anthocyanins as a natural pH-sensitive dye, extracted from red cabbage. This research involved investigating the relationship between the various concentrations of anthocyanins and the colorimetric platform's efficiency when exposed to ammonia vapor. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) results were used to examine the morphology and structure of the nanofiber mats before and after the dip-coating process. The study also delved into the selectivity of the indicator when exposed to various volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and their stability under extreme humidity levels. Furthermore, the platform's sensitivity was evaluated as it encountered ammonia (NH3) in concentrations ranging from 1 to 100 ppm, with varying dye concentrations. The developed indicator demonstrated an exceptional detection limit of 1 ppm of MH3 within just 30 min, making it highly sensitive to subtle changes in gas concentration. The indicator proved effective in assessing meat freshness by detecting spoilage levels in beef over time. It reliably identified spoilage after 10 h and 7 days, corresponding to bacterial growth thresholds (107 CFU/mL), both at room temperature and in refrigerated environments, respectively. With its simple visual detection mechanism, the platform offered a straightforward and user-friendly solution for consumers and industry professionals alike to monitor packaged beef freshness, enhancing food safety and quality assurance. The thixomolding technology offers distinct advantages for producing magnesium matrix composites with intricate geometries. This study explores the effects of incorporating hybrid SiC–Al2O3 particles on the microstructure, deformation, fracture, and mechanical properties of a thixomolded Mg–10Zn alloy. The composite exhibits a homogeneous distribution of Al2O3 and SiC particles within the matrix. The addition of SiC–Al2O3 reinforcements helps reduce the content of primary α -Mg solid and refine the microstructure. The composite demonstrates a yield strength of 186 MPa, an elastic modulus of 48.6 GPa, and a respectable elongation of 6.8%. The digital image correlation measurement was performed at the sample scale, unveiling overall deformation characteristics. Crystal plasticity finite element method was employed for high-fidelity microstructure, showcasing mesoscale deformation feature such as the deformation mechanism of grains adjacent to reinforcements. It was found that SiC–Al2O3 particles prevent the formation of large shear band, benefiting the ductility of the material. The post-mortem analysis using scanning electron microscope near the fracture position reveals micro-cracks inside the SiC particles. Notably, the SiC/Mg interface shows no signs of cracking, while some Al2O3/Mg interfaces are separated. Reinforcement cracking is correlated to the stress it withstands, and the mesoscale deformation analysis reveals that the reinforcement stress is increased when non-basal slip in grains adjacent to the reinforcement becomes difficult to be activated. This work serves as an example for developing Mg matrix composites through the thixomolding process. In this present investigation, novel hybrid magnesium composites were synthesized by the inclusion of self-lubricating (BN/MoS 2) and ceramic (ZrO 2) particulates with the help of the powder metallurgy technique. ZE41 magnesium (Mg–4Zn-1RE-0.7Zr) was applied for a broad range of components, including the gearbox casing, the framework of the door, and transmission in aircraft like the Sikorsky UH-60 and the Boeing 727. Apart from its structural application, its usage was limited because of its deficient wear and mechanical properties. This research focuses on enhancing the potential applications of the ZE41 magnesium alloy by improving its mechanical and tribological characteristics. The design of the experiment scheme was applied to explore the effect of individual reinforcements and their synergistic effects on various properties of prepared composites. Microstructural inspection was employed to inspect the morphological characteristics of prepared specimens through scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). By analysing SEM, EDS, and X-ray diffraction patterns, the microstructural evaluation reveals uniform phase dispersion and the existence of reinforcements with some minor defects. As a result of the inclusion of reinforcements in composites, the hardness of the reinforced specimen improved to 39.65%, while the wear rate of the reinforced specimen decreased to 40.90% compared with monolithic alloy. A multi-objective grey relational analysis (GRA) optimization method was used to perform a detailed tribological analysis on Specimen G (ZE41 mg + 3% ZrO 2 + 3% MoS 2). According to the results of GRA, the optimized rate of wear and frictional coefficient were achieved on sliding velocity (4 ms−1), sliding distance (2000 m), and load (10 N). Tefillin are Jewish ritual artifacts consisting of leather cases, containing inscribed slips, which are affixed with leather straps to the body of the tefillin practitioner. According to current Jewish ritual law, the tefillin cases and straps are to be colored black. The present study examines seventeen ancient tefillin cases discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls in caves in the Judean Desert. All seventeen cases display grain surfaces with a very dark, nearly black appearance. We start with a hypothesis that the cases were intentionally colored black in antiquity using either a carbon-based or iron-gall-based paint or dye. The aim of this study is to test this hypothesis by subjecting these tefillin cases to a battery of examinations to assess the presence of carbon and iron used as pigments, and of organic materials which may have been used as binding agents in a paint. The tests deployed are: (1) macroscopic and microscopic analyses; (2) multispectral imaging using infrared wavelengths; (3) Raman spectroscopy; (4) Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR); and (5) scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. The results of these tests found no traces of carbon-based or iron-gall-based pigments, nor of organic compounds which may have served as binders in a paint. These results suggest that our posited hypothesis is unlikely. Instead, results of the SEM examination suggest it more likely that the black color on the surfaces of the tefillin cases is the result of natural degradation of the leather through gelatinization. The Judean Desert tefillin likely represent tefillin practices prior to when the rabbinic prescription on blackening tefillin was widely practiced. In this work, 2D ferromagnetic M3GeTe2 (MGT, M = Ni/Fe) nanosheets with rich atomic Te vacancies (2D‐MGTv) are demonstrated as efficient OER electrocatalyst via a general mechanical exfoliation strategy. X‐ray absorption spectra (XAS) and scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) results validate the dominant presence of metal‐O moieties and rich Te vacancies, respectively. The formed Te vacancies are active for the adsorption of OH* and O* species while the metal‐O moieties promote the O* and OOH* adsorption, contributing synergistically to the faster oxygen evolution kinetics. Consequently, 2D‐Ni3GeTe2v exhibits superior OER activity with only 370 mV overpotential to reach the current density of 100 mA cm−2 and turnover frequency (TOF) value of 101.6 s−1 at the overpotential of 200 mV in alkaline media. Furthermore, a 2D‐Ni3GeTe2v‐based anion‐exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis cell (1 cm2) delivers a current density of 1.02 and 1.32 A cm−2 at the voltage of 3 V feeding with 0.1 and 1 m KOH solution, respectively. The demonstrated metal‐O coordination with abundant atomic vacancies for ferromagnetic M3GeTe2 and the easily extended preparation strategy would enlighten the rational design and fabrication of other ferromagnetic materials for wider electrocatalytic applications. Silicon carbide fiber reinforced silicon carbide ceramic matrix composite (CMC SiC f /SiC) has the advantages of high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength, low density, and oxidation resistance. It is a high-performance advanced material in aerospace, energy and other fields. However, due to its high hardness, brittleness and anisotropy of fiber structure, the research on application-oriented high-quality processing technology has become a hot issue. In this paper, a new process of rotational thirteen-beam coupling nanosecond laser processing of CMC-SiC f /SiC was studied. The rotational thirteen-beam coupling ablation experiments were carried out on CMC-SiC f /SiC workpiece. A laser beam is divided into thirteen beams and rotated around the beam center by using a beam splitter element. The morphology, structure and composition of ablation holes at different speeds were observed and analyzed by laser confocal microscope, scanning electron microscope, and X-ray energy dispersive spectrometer. It is found that the characteristics of rotational beam coupling have a significant effect on the laser ablation morphologies. The results show that the ablation region of CMC-SiC f /SiC is elliptical due to the fast heat transfer of fibers. The energy density distribution of the waist section of the Gaussian like beam after beam coupling is similar to the "W" shape, and the central energy is lower than the surrounding energy, and the ablation holes also show a similar "W" shape. With the increase of rotational speed, the hole depth first decreased and then increased, the hole diameter and roundness first increased and then decreased, and the hole section was "W" shaped. The ablation area can be divided into five parts: the white granular SiO 2 solid coverage area, the recast layer, the lower recast layer, the molten layer, and the heat affected zone. The rotational characteristics will make the reaction intensity of the whole ablation area more uniform in the circumferential direction. The formation mechanism and element distribution of each part were explored. The research work in this paper will provide a new technical way for the high-performance application of CMC-SiC f /SiC. The effectiveness of silicon carbide (SiC) planarization mostly relies on the chemical and mechanical effects during chemical mechanical polishing (CMP). Nevertheless, the alumina (Al 2 O 3) abrasive only provides a mechanical effect and is incapable of achieving a high-efficiency polishing of SiC. To address this issue, a series of novel Al 2 O 3 @MnO 2 composite abrasives were prepared by encapsulating varying amounts of manganese dioxide (MnO 2) on Al 2 O 3 abrasive, and the polishing performance on SiC wafers was evaluated. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) images, along with the size and zeta potential data, show that MnO 2 is successfully coated on the surface of Al 2 O 3 , and the dispersion of Al 2 O 3 @MnO 2 composite abrasive is significantly improved when compared with the pure Al 2 O 3. Furthermore, the CMP experiment and surface profile analysis demonstrate that the material removal rate (MRR) can reach a maximum value of 640.47 nm/h when using a 0.05 wt% MnO 2 -coated Al 2 O 3 composite abrasive, which is 76 % higher than that of traditional Al 2 O 3 abrasive. Furthermore, the average surface roughness (Sa, arithmetic mean height) of SiC is reduced to 0.73 nm. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results reveal that the surface of SiC is oxidized and forms a chemical bond known as Mn–O–Si after CMP. The results of the friction coefficient test and contact angle test indicate that slurries containing composite abrasive have exceptional wettability and a higher friction coefficient. Nezara viridula (Linnaeus) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), commonly known as the southern green stink bug, poses a significant threat to agricultural productivity due to its destructive feeding nature which leads to substantial reductions in crop quality and yield. The entomopathogenic fungal genus Metarhizium (Hypocreales: Clavicipitaceae) has been known as a promising biological control agent with a wide range of arthropod hosts. Among them, Metarhizium anisopliae has shown potential as an alternative management strategy for controlling pests within crop ecosystems. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of different doses of M. anisopliae AUMC 3262 air-dried conidia (0.5, 2.5, and 5 g) against N. viridula adults and evaluate physiological and structural alternations under laboratory conditions. Results indicated that M. anisopliae AUMC 3262 dry conidia induced significant mortality in N. viridula in a time- and dose-dependent manner. Mortality rates reached 86.65%., 99.98% and 100 % of N. viridula after 5 and 6 days of exposure to 0.5, 2.5 and 5 g of dry conidia, respectively. Also, a significant reduction in the total soluble proteins was observed. Scanning Electron Microscope analysis confirmed deformation in the body structure of N. viridula, highlighting fungal penetration and proliferation within the insect's body. Overall, M. anisopliae AUMC 3262 is a virulent strain for N. viridula, which might qualify this strain to be used as a strong candidate for further investigation as a control agent for N. viridula. Microplastic has emerged as a global threat owing to its chronic ubiquity and persistence. Microplastics' small size expedites their ingestion at each trophic level causing biomagnification and bioaccumulation, which has raised public concerns. The present study isolated, quantified and characterized the abundance, shape, size, color, and chemical composition of the microplastics from water and sediments of the Hirakud Reservoir through a scanning electron microscope and FTIR. The ecological risk associated with the microplastics was assessed using the species sensitivity distribution (SSD) method to derive the Predicted No-Effect Concentration (PNEC) value and risk quotient (RQ). The abundance of microplastics in the surface water and sediments of the Hirakud Reservoir was estimated at 82-89 particles/L and 159-163 particles/kg, respectively. Fiber-shaped microplastics dominated both surface water (46.21%) and sediment samples (44.86%). Small-sized microplastics (53-300 μm) prevailed in all samples. Color delineation exhibited an abundance of transparent microplastics. Chemical characterization indicated the dominance of polypropylene (38%), followed by high-density polyethylene, low-density polyethylene, and polystyrene. The calculated PNEC value was 3,954 particles/m³, and the RQ was estimated to be 0.02073-0.04122 indicating negligible ecological risk to freshwater species in all the sampling sites. Magnesium AZ91/AlN-based surface composites have been synthesized using the friction stir processing (FSP) technique. The influence of particle addition during FSP on microstructural and mechanical properties has been investigated. Composite plates of 5, 10, and 15 vol. % AlN were synthesized using two-pass FSP with an axial force of 10 KN, a tool travel speed of 40 mm/min, and a tool rotation speed of 1200 rpm. The AZ91/AlN surface composites were analyzed microscopically with the use of an optical microscope, an x-ray diffractometer, and a scanning electron microscope. The prepared composites were tested for hardness and tensile strength. Micrographs taken in the stir zone revealed a consistent distribution of AlN particles throughout the AZ91 matrix. The AZ91/AlN surface composites were tested for hardness and tensile strength, and the findings showed that the AlN particles improved the mechanical properties without significantly decreasing ductility. Honey bee workers (Apis mellifera L.) collect nectar, honeydew and pollen from plants in orderto provide the colony with, among others, carbohydrates and protein. Whenever these sources are unavailable in the environment, bees turn to alternatives. An example of this are fungi spores collected accidentally or on purpose. This last phenomenon is the aim of this study, in which we have shown that worker bees can collect willow rust (Melampsora spp.) spores. We observed as the bees obtained spores and placed them in pollen baskets. The presence of spores was demonstrated with the use of a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Background: In everyday dentistry, monolithic single crowns can be cemented with self-adhesive resin cements. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate how the marginal adaptation of full monolithic zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS) single crowns is influenced by three different self-adhesive resin cements. Methods: Forty-five typodont teeth fully prepared for full monolithic crowns were divided into three groups (fifteen each) for the use of three different self-adhesive resin cements. A fourth control group (Temp-bond) was created by taking five teeth from each group before cementation with self-adhesive resin cements. All forty-five abutments were scanned using a Primescan intra-oral scanner (IOS), followed by computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) of zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS) full crowns using a four-axis machine. Initially, the crowns of the control group were fixed to the abutments using Temp-bond, and the marginal gap was evaluated using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). After removing the control group crowns from the abutments, fifteen crowns in each group were cemented using a different self-adhesive resin cement and observed under SEM for evaluation of the marginal gap. A Kolmogorov–Smirnov test was performed, indicating no normal distribution (p < 0.05), followed by Mann–Whitney tests (α = 0.05). Results: The total mean marginal gap of the temp-bond control group was significantly lower compared to all three groups of self-adhesive resin cement (p < 0.0005). The total mean marginal gap of the G-cem ONE group was significantly lower compared to the TheraCem group (p < 0.026) and RelyX U200 group (p < 0.008). The total mean marginal gap of the TheraCem group was significantly higher than the G-cem ONE group (p < 0.026) but showed no significant difference with the RelyX U200 group (p > 0.110). Conclusions: All four groups showed a clinically acceptable marginal gap (<120 microns). Although all three groups of self-adhesive resin cement showed a significant increase in the marginal gap compared to the temp-bond control group, they were within the limits of clinical acceptability. Regarding the marginal gap, in everyday dentistry, it is acceptable to use all three self-adhesive resin cements, although the G-cem ONE group exhibited the lowest marginal gap for ZLS single crowns. Common tapeworms in poultry digestive tracts are called Raillietina species. The present study's objective is to characterize the morphological and genetic relationships between the cestode parasites that infect domestic pigeons (Columba livia domestica) in Saudi Arabia's Al-Qassim Region. Using optical and scanning electron microscopes, the general morphology and surface characteristics of the collected cestode parasites were examined. Using sequences from the ND1 and 18S rDNA gene areas, molecular analysis was used to confirm the taxonomy of this parasite based on its morphological characteristics. This demonstrated a high degree of similarity--up to 98.0% and 74.7%, respectively between the 18S rDNA and ND1 gene regions and other cestode species found in GenBank. This paper presents research results on biocomposites made from a combination of extruded apple pomace (EAP) and potato starch (SP). The aim of this work was to investigate the basic properties of biocomposites obtained from extruded apple pomace reinforced with potato starch. The products were manufactured by hot pressing using a hydraulic press with a mould for producing samples. The prepared biocomposites were subjected to strength tests, surface wettability was determined, and a colour analysis was carried out. A thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and cross-sectioning observed in a scanning electron microscope (SEM) were also performed. The obtained test results showed that the combination of apple pomace (EAP) and starch (SP) enabled the production of compact biocomposite materials. At the same time, it was found that each increase in the share of starch in the mixture for producing biocomposites increased the strength parameters of the obtained materials. With the highest share of starch in the mixture, 40%, and a raw material moisture content of 14%, the material had the best strength parameters and was even characterised by hydrophobic properties. It was also found that materials with a high content of starch are characterised by increased temperature resistance. The analysis of SEM microscopic photos showed well-glued particles of apple pomace, pectin, and gelatinised starch and a smooth external structure of the samples. Research and analyses have shown that apple pomace reinforced only with the addition of starch can be a promising raw material for the production of simple, biodegradable biocomposite materials. Various contents of carbon fibers (CFs) and potassium titanate whiskers (PTWs) were added to an Fe-based impregnated diamond bit (IDB) matrix to enhance its adaptability to percussive–rotary drilling. A series of mechanical tests were conducted successively to find the effects of the reinforcing materials on the properties of the Fe-based IDB samples. Then, the fracture surfaces of the samples were analyzed via scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and the worn surfaces and abrasive debris of the samples were analyzed using a laser scanning confocal microscope and SEM. The results show that both the CF and PTW can effectively improve the hardness and bending strength of an Fe-based IDB matrix, and those parameters reached their maximum values at the additive amount of 1 wt%. However, the CF had a better enhancement effect than the PTW. Furthermore, the CF improved the impact wear resistance of the IDB matrix, with a minimum wear rate of 2.38 g/min at the additive amount of 2 wt%. However, the PTW continuously weakened the impact wear resistance of the IDB matrix with increases in its content. Moreover, the morphologies of the worn surfaces indicated that the minimum roughness of the CF-reinforced IDB matrix decreased significantly to as low as 4.91 μm, which was 46.16% lower than that without CF, whereas the minimum roughness of the PTW-reinforced samples decreased by 11.31%. Meanwhile, the abrasive debris of the CF-reinforced samples was more uniform and continuous compared to that of the PTW-reinforced samples. Overall, the appropriate addition of CF or PTWs can enhance the mechanical properties of Fe-based IDB matrices, which can be used on different formations based on their impact wear resistance. In this study, we successfully employed the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) technique to create a uniform white ceramic layer on the surface of the 6061 aluminum alloy using K2ZrF6 and Na2WO4 as colorants. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterize the coatings, and we used an electrochemical workstation to test their corrosion protection properties. The corrosion resistance of the coatings was analyzed using potentiodynamic polarization curves. The results showed that K2ZrF6 addition whitened the coating with ZrO2 as the main phase composition, inhibiting Al substrate depletion and enhancing coating corrosion resistance. A small amount of Na2WO4 decreased the coating's L* value, successfully constructing ceramic coatings with L* (coating brightness) values ranging from 70 to 86, offering broad application prospects for decorative coatings. In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive investigation into PVA fiber modified with SiO2 to improve the mechanical properties of oil-well cements. Specifically, SiO2 was coated onto the surface of polyvinyl alcohol fiber (PVAF) as its silicon source via a sol-gel process by using tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), while hydrochloric acid and ammonia were respectively used as the catalyst in the sol (hydrolysis) and the gel (condensation) processes. The PVAF microstructure was then characterized with the scanning electron microscope (SEM), while the effects of the modified PVAF on both mechanical and rheological properties of oil-well cements were examined. Due to the fact that SiO2 can be uniformly coated onto the PVAF surface, such modified PVAF can slightly improve the rheology of the cement slurry, while the raw PVAF exhibits poor dispersion at a high dosage. Compared with those of cement stone without PVAF after curing for 28 days at 60 °C, the flexural strength, compressive strength, and elastic modulus of the cement stone incorporated with the modified PVAFs were enhanced by 37.7%, 66.1%, and 50.0%, respectively. The SEM test (EDX) test, XRD test, and thermogravimetric test prove that the SiO2 coating on the PVAF surface can promote the hydration of cement clinker and can react with Ca(OH)2 to generate CSH gel. The fretting wear behaviors of silicone rubber under dry friction and different lubrication conditions are studied experimentally. Water, engine oil, dimethyl silicone oil (DSO), and dimethyl silicone oil doped with graphene oxide (DSO/GO) are selected as lubricants. Under the liquid lubrication conditions, the silicone rubber samples are always immersed in the same volume of lubricant. The contact model of a 440C steel ball and silicone rubber sample is the sphere-on-flat contact. The reciprocating fretting wear experiments are carried out using the reciprocating friction wear tester. A scanning electron microscope and three-dimensional white-light interference profilometer are used to detect the surface wear morphology and obtain the wear volume, respectively. The influences of normal force, lubrication condition, and displacement amplitude on fretting wear behavior are discussed. The fretting wear performances of silicone rubber under different fretting states and lubrication conditions are compared. The results show that for a small normal force, silicone rubber has the best wear resistance under DSO/GO lubrication. Dirinaria picta is a lichen species known for its tolerance to air pollution and its ability to accumulate pollutants in its thallus, making it a suitable bioindicator in urban areas. This study aims to assess the response of lichens to air pollution by examining their morphological characteristics, analyzing the presence of magnetic grains, and identifying the origin of elements in their tissues. Samples were collected from three locations in Bandung area which represent polluted areas, namely Juanda Street (JD) and Kebon Kawung (KK), and Padalarang Street (PD) and one location which represent as a control area with low pollution levels, namely Curug Cimahi (CC). Lichen microstructure scanning was performed using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and the presence of elements was detected through Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS). The SEM analysis revealed that samples from areas with higher air pollution levels exhibited obvious damage to their thallus, characterized by a more porous structure and the presence of cuboidal particles. Conversely, samples from control area showed a more compact structure. The EDS observations identified 14 elements present in the lichen tissues, ranked in descending order of abundance: C>Ca>O>Pb>Cu>Mn>Zn>Fe>Cr>Al>Cl>Se>Cd>K. The composition and quantity of these elements in lichen tissues were influenced by the level of air pollution generated by the number of vehicles passing through the area. The fibers from four wheat varieties (FT, XW 26, XW 45, and KW 1701) were selected and chemically modified with NaOH, epichlorohydrin, and dimethylamine to improve the adsorption capacity for anionic dye. The structure of the fibers with or without modification was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry. The modified products were studied from the aspects of adsorption capacities, adsorption kinetics, and thermodynamics to provide a reference for the utilization of wheat bran. By SEM, more porous and irregular structures were found on the modified fibers. The XRD results showed that the crystals from the original fibers were destroyed in the modification process. The changes in fibers' infrared spectra before and after modification suggested that quaternary ammonium salts were probably formed in the modification process. The maximum adsorption capacity of wheat bran fibers for Congo red within 120 min was 20 mg/g for the unmodified fiber (XW 26) and 93.46 mg/g for the modified one (XW 45). The adsorption kinetics of Congo red by modified wheat bran fiber was in accord with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model at 40 °C, 50 °C, and 60 °C, indicating that the adsorption process might be mainly dominated by chemisorption. The adsorption was more consistent with the Langmuir isothermal adsorption model, implying that this process was monolayer adsorption. The thermodynamic parameters suggested that the adsorption occurred spontaneously, and the temperature increase was favorable to the adsorption. In this paper, fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors were applied to investigate the frost resistance of C60 concrete. First, the growth of both the static and dynamic elastic modulus of C60 concrete with curing age was investigated using an FBG, the standard method, and the resonance method, respectively. Second, to simulate the freezing and thawing conditions in cold regions, the concrete specimens were subjected to air freezing and water thawing using the slow freezing method. The authors explored the effect of freeze–thaw cycles on the mechanical properties of concrete and established a mathematical model relating its mechanical properties to freeze–thaw cycles based on an FBG sensor. Meanwhile, its compressive strength, dynamic elastic modulus, and mass loss rate were tested. Finally, the interface morphology and hydration products of concrete were observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) after freeze–thaw cycles. The results indicate that both the static and dynamic elastic modulus of C60 concrete increase with curing age. Its elastic modulus measured by FBG is approximately the same as that measured by the standard method, confirming the viability of using an FBG sensor to measure its elastic modulus. Furthermore, the authors highlighted the dependence of its compressive strength on the freeze–thaw cycles. The relationship of the static elastic modulus to freeze–thaw cycles is similar to that of the dynamic elastic modulus and mass loss rate. Simple Summary: This study investigated the impact of adding 1% processed coconut meal (hydrolyzed copra meal, HCM) to the diets of weaned pigs, comparing it to regular coconut meal (CM) and a control diet with no coconut meal. Processed to enhance digestibility, HCM showed better digestion than CM. Both treatments supported a diverse gut microbiome, with potential benefits for producing beneficial fatty acids crucial for gut health. More research is needed to fully evaluate HCM's impact on pig growth and health, but initial findings suggest that incorporating HCM could enhance digestive health and overall well-being in young pigs. This study aimed to compare the effects of hydrolyzed copra meal (HCM) inclusion at 1% on its in vitro digestibility and the microbiota and cecum fermentation using the gut microbiota of weaned swine, targeting microbial community and short-chain fatty acids (SCF). For this reason, three treatments were considered: control (no copra meal), 1% non-hydrolyzed copra meal (CM), and 1% HCM. Non-defatted copra meal was hydrolyzed and analyzed (reducing sugars and total carbohydrates) in our laboratory. For digestion, microbiota identification, and fermentation assays, fresh fecal samples from two weaned pigs (1 month old) were used. Three replicates of each treatment were employed. HCM was more digestible, with approximately 0.68 g of hydrolysate recovered after simulated digestion compared to 0.82 g of hydrolysate recovered from CM. This was shown by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images. Also, the three swine shared the majority of microbial species identified at the phylum and family levels. There were no differences (p > 0.05) between treatments in the microbial community and SCFA during fermentation. However, higher Chao-1 and Shannon indexes were observed in CM and HCM treatments. HCM was also found to be capable of preserving Actinobacterota and Proteobacteria at the phylum level, while at the family level, both treatments may help Lactobacillaceae, Peptostreptococcaceae, Lachnospiraceae, and Ruminococcaceae survive in the long term. Also, there was a potential trend of increasing acetic acid and butyric acid in the CM and HCM treatments. While HCM shows promise in potentially modulating the gut microbiota of weaned swine, additional research is required to investigate the effects of higher doses of HCM on swine performance parameters. The chiral H8-BINOL derivatives R-1 and R-2 were efficiently synthesized via a Suzuki coupling reaction, and they can be used as novel dialdehyde fluorescent probes for the enantioselective recognition of R/S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol. In addition, R-1 is much more effective than R-2. Scanning electron microscope images and X-ray analyses show that R-1 can form supramolecular vesicles through the self-assembly effect of the π-π force and strong hydrogen bonding. As determined via analysis, the fluorescence of the probe was significantly enhanced by mixing a small amount of S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol into R-1, with a redshift of 38 nm, whereas no significant fluorescence response was observed in R-2-amino-1-phenylethanol. The enantioselective identification of S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol by the probe R-1 was further investigated through nuclear magnetic titration and fluorescence kinetic experiments and DFT calculations. The results showed that this mechanism was not only a simple reactive probe but also realized object recognition through an ICT mechanism. As the intramolecular hydrogen bond activated the carbonyl group on the probe R-1, the carbonyl carbon atom became positively charged. As a strong nucleophile, the amino group of S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol first transferred the amino electrons to a carbonyl carbocation, resulting in a significantly enhanced fluorescence of the probe R-1 and a 38 nm redshift. Similarly, S-2-amino-1-phenylethanol alone caused severe damage to the self-assembled vesicle structure of the probe molecule itself due to its spatial structure, which made R-1 highly enantioselective towards it. A composite coating of Ni–W–Ti 2 AlC was fabricated through direct current electrodeposition. The characterization of the composite coatings included analysis using X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscope, energy spectrum analysis, Vickers microhardness testing, electrochemical testing, and tribological testing. The findings indicate that the inclusion of Ti 2 AlC alters both the grain size and microstructure of the coatings. The presence of Ti 2 AlC particles facilitates the nucleation process during Ni–W–Ti 2 AlC deposition. The Ti 2 AlC content influences the coating's performance in the bath. Specifically, the microhardness of the Ni–W-(5 g/L) Ti 2 AlC coating exhibits the highest value, experiencing a 41.89 % increase compared to that of the Ni–W coating. Ti 2 AlC contributes to the rectification of defects in the Ni–W–Ti 2 AlC coating. This composite coating exhibits the lowest corrosion current and superior corrosion resistance, particularly with a Ti 2 AlC concentration of 5 g/L. The wear mechanism of the coating encompasses abrasive wear, adhesive wear, and oxidation wear. Notably, the Ni–W–Ti 2 AlC composite coating demonstrates enhanced friction resistance compared to the Ni–W composite coating. The applications of Si 3 N 4 ceramics are hindered by their brittleness and susceptibility to fracture, despite their high strength and wear resistance. To address this challenge, layered ceramics were prepared using lamination and plasma sintering techniques, inspired by the structure of shell pearl layers. The bio-inspired layered ceramics were alternately arranged with Si 3 N 4 as the matrix layer (hard) and BN as the interfacial layer (soft). During the study, ceramic specimens with different microstructures were obtained by modulating the layer thickness ratio (ratio of Si 3 N 4 to BN) and sintering temperature. The microstructure of the specimens was characterized using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectrometer). The mechanical of various specimens were assessed by measuring the flexural strength and fracture toughness. The results of the investigation revealed that the mechanical characteristics of the samples reached their optimum state (with a toughness of 13.51 ± 1.56 MPa m1/2 and a strength of 429 ± 4.28 MPa) when the ratio of Si 3 N 4 to BN was 5:1, and the sintering temperature was maintained at 2000 °C. In this research, the preparation of licorice extract and the biosynthesis of manganese oxide in the treatment of stomach cancer were investigated by examining the cytotoxicity of the stomach cancer line. The structural properties of manganese oxide were also studied through X-ray examination, scanning electron microscope (SEM), and infrared spectroscopy, where it was found that manganese oxide is polycrystalline, and the average grain size is 62.571 nm, but by SEM, the grain size is 93.49-47.74 nm. Pore‐throat structure is a key factor that influences the storage and fluid flow capacity of tight sandstone reservoirs. Taking the tight sandstone reservoir of Xu2 Fm in Zhongba area as an example, the reservoir quality, pore‐throat type and pore size distribution of tight sandstone in the study area were described by casting thin section, scanning electron microscope and high‐pressure mercury injection test. In order to quantitatively characterize the complexity and heterogeneity of pore‐throat structure, fractal analysis was performed using mercury saturation and pore size data. This study mainly reveals the relationship between the geometric shape characteristics and fractal dimension of the binary pore structure of ultra‐low permeability tight sandstone and clarifies the influence of different scale pore throats on reservoir physical properties. The results indicate that the physical properties of the reservoir in the study area are poor, the pores are mainly intergranular pores and dissolution pores, the throat is flake and necked and the pore size distribution range is large. The fractal curve obtained by the mercury saturation method shows a significant turning point, and the pore‐throat system is divided into two types: small‐scale and large‐scale. The fractal dimension of large‐scale pore throat is greater than the three‐dimensional Euclidean space dimension, which does not conform to the fractal theory. The fractal dimension of small‐scale pore throat is closely related to the pore‐throat structure and has obvious fractal characteristics. The geometric shape of binary pore‐throat structure in tight sandstone is the main factor affecting the difference of fractal dimension. The development of small pores in sandstone is positively correlated with the total porosity, but its contribution to permeability is relatively low. This study takes the tight sandstone of the lower sub‐member of the first member of the Eocene Shahejie Formation (Es1x) in the Suning area, Raoyang Sag, Bohai Bay Basin. Furthermore, it determines the rock type of the middle‐deep tight sandstone through lithologic profiling, core observation and log data analysis. The genetic control factors of tight sandstone in the study area are analysed using conventional thin section, pore‐casted thin section and scanning electron microscope, and the characteristics and genetic control factors of tight sandstone reservoirs are summarized. The research results show that the tight sandstones in this area are primarily feldspathic sandstone and feldspathic lithic sandstone, with high quartz contents, around 61.50%. The average porosity of the reservoir in the study area is 4.69%, and the average permeability is 2.92 mD, which are characteristics of low‐porosity and low‐permeability reservoirs. Through research, it has been found that the distribution of sedimentary facies and diagenesis in the study area control the development and distribution of 'sweet spots'. Both compaction and cementation reduce the physical properties of the reservoir, while dissolution can increase porosity, thereby increasing the physical properties of the reservoir; dissolution resulted in an increase of approximately 3.57%–3.69% in the porosity of the tight reservoir in the study area, with an average porosity increase of 3.63%, and is the main controlling factor for the development of 'sweet spots' in the reservoir. The results provide an important basis for guiding the exploration and development of tight sandstone oil and gas in the lower sub‐member of the first member of the Eocene Shahejie Formation (Es1x)in the Suning area. In this study, enzyme-induced carbonate precipitation (EICP) combined with xanthan gum curing technology was used to improve the engineering properties of standard sand, and the curing effect of EICP combined with different xanthan gum contents was studied by macroscopic tests such as unconfined compressive strength, direct shear, permeability, calcium carbonate content, and microscopic tests such as scanning electron microscope and nuclear magnetic resonance. The results show that the unconfined compressive strength, shear strength, cohesion and internal friction angle of EICP combined with xanthan gum solidified sand increases with the increase of xanthan gum content and reaches the maximum value at the content of 2%, in which the increase of unconfined compressive strength, shear strength, and cohesion is significant; further, the increase of internal friction angle is small. The permeability coefficient of EICP combined with xanthan gum solidified sand decreases with the increase of xanthan gum content, and the permeability coefficient of 2% xanthan gum is only 65.4% that of pure EICP treatment. The incorporation of xanthan gum promotes the deposition of calcium carbonate, increases the viscosity of the reaction solution, and produces colloidal encapsulation and bonding effect on the sand particles. In addition, the incorporation of xanthan gum effectively reduces the porosity of solidified sand and greatly reduces the proportion of large pores and medium pores by changing the pore size, which greatly improves the pore structure.
