Abstract

This investigation aims to map the characteristics the performance evaluation of the international empirical studies in the public sector in order to identify their evolution stage and research opportunities. This research is qualitative and, through Proknow-C, selected 45 empirical articles referring to Performance Evaluation in the Public Sector. Through analysis, it was identified that in recent years, there is a tendency to identify the organizations PMSs impact ; studies are predominant in the phases of design/conception and implementation of the PMSs Life Cycle; there is a lack of longitudinal studies that address all these phases.
