This case was developed with the objective of makes a prediction equation of adipose mass percent in values anthropometric, to star off the predetermined slant of instruments of impedance bioelectric TANITA. This is based in the premise that every day the importance of estimation about the fat mass in a clinic level, it is getting bigger and bigger, for this reason a population of twenty eight people with age range fluctuate among twenty to twenty eight was evaluated, they were part of "Escuela de Caballerfa Blindada" in the city of Quillota. The Pertinent measurements for the estimation of fatty mass were realized through of impedance bioelectric and anthropometry, the results made big differences between both methods, obtaining an index of correlation coefficient a 0.13 and a person correlation of 0.34. This paper presents empirical evidence on the existence of wage discrimination concerning indigenous population in Chile in the period 1996-2006, using data from the Casen survey. The results show that wage discrimination has remained stable during the last ten years (12%). Using bootstrapping techniques it is possible to construct a confidence interval for the wage discrimination measure, which allows to conclude that it is statistically significant. On the other hand, in the same period, the wage gap dropped from 32.5% to 24.9%, this decline is basically explained by the leveling of human capital endowment between the two groups. The estimations are sensitive to the correction for selection bias, which points out the relevance of including this variable in the wage gap decomposition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work it was analyzed the error that is produced when the operations activities are forecasted in a fish conserves industry of this region. It was applied several quantitative methods like exponential smoothing and its different versions, Box Jenkins and the forecasting method that it is used in the industry analyzed. The sales in a five years were analyzed. Using as criterion to select the method, the minor error (RMSE) it was determined the best method for every product. Its not found a common method for all products. Moreover, it was analyzed the software used to obtain the forecasting -Crystal Ball and SPSS. Better results were found when the results were combined through lineal combination and a previous treatment of dates (exponential smoothing) was performed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Common sardine (Strangomera bentincki) and anchovy (Engraulis ringens) constitute the main commercial small pelagic fishing activity in central-southern Chile, with average annual catches between 1991 and 2005 of 342,000 tons (common sardine) and 405,000 tons (anchovy). Abundance estimates for these species were obtained through statistical models of catch by age. These models incorporate information on annual catches, catch by unit of effort, biomass estimated by acoustic methods, size structure, and biological information (growth parameters, maturity, weight). Parameter estimates were done using maximum verosimilitude methods. The analysis of the structure by age of sardine and anchovy catches shows a high presence of recruits and adult fraction that has decreased over time. The abundance levels were especially low for common sardine; the 2005 spawning biomass was 207,600 tons, as compared to the 485,000 tons estimated in 1991. Common sardine recruitment (age group 0) was currently found to be 280,600 tons, lower than the 392,000 tons estimated at the beginning of the study period. For anchovy, the 2005 spawning biomass was 460,000 tons, as compared to the 415,000 tons of 1991, and 2005 recruitment was estimated at 275,000 tons, lower than the 291,000 tons of 1991.
