Nowadays, stock management became a strategic decision used by organizations due to the high impact it has on the overall performance of supply chains. This paper evaluates the impact of the implementation of a R, S inventory policy in the finances of a distribution network. The research involves the functioning of a hardware supply chain conformed by a retailer and a manufacturer, which is simulated trough system dynamics. The main results of the study validate the positive impact that the policy about network liquidity have. Likewise, it is possible to determine the dominance of parameters such as demand, the review period and the maximum production capacity over the overall performance of the system. This article applies the Dynamic Simulation (DS) technique to the dynamic input-output model (DS/IO) designed by Johnson (1985 and 1986). The model is a generalization of the static input-output model (Leontief, 1941), with an additional emphasis on economic imbalance. The DS/IO consists of a system of 4n differential equations and 2n constraints. Therefore, attempts to model analytically are likely to be unsuccessful without numerical simulation. The DS/IO used data from the Mexican economy for calibration and validation. It was found that the dynamic multipliers are greater than the static multipliers due to the accelerator effect. The simulation of the DS/IO is also validated by the fact that the adjustment between current values and production projections from 2013 to 2019 is plausible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Environmental risk management provides a preventive vision for socio-economic development in face of a changing climate. In this paper a technology for risk management at strategic and operational levels is proposed as essential support for decision-making to events of natural origin such as drought. The system dynamic simulation was carried out from the theoretical modeling of process; in addition, intelligent data mining techniques were used in the design of custom software. A technology that consists of a conceptual model, a continuous improvement procedure on environmentally sustainable bases and SIDecision computer platform, which centralizes management. Interpretations of statistical parameters demonstrate the quality achieved in decision-making regarding risk management for a case study in Cuban territory, after the technology has been implemented. The objective of this work is to add value to the productive system of a food company in Mar del Plata. The problematic situation is structured and its main causes are detected by applying Soft Systems Methodology in combination with dynamic simulation to model the behavior of the productive system. The problem detected is the need to increase the production capacity to improve compliance with deliveries agreed with customers. A proposal for improvement in productive activities is presented that generates added value for the client and the organization and allows solving the current situation. A simulation software is used to model and compare the current and proposed production system. The results conclude that the improvement alternative exceeds the desired production levels, achieving an increase in the level of customer service. In this study, a reactive distillation column for production of isopropanol was investigated. Firstly, a dynamic model was developed for the process. The model of the process was then programmed, and the process simulated using a base case obtained from the literature. Results showed that distillate contained more than 58 mol% propylene-free isopropanol. In the next step, optimization of some operating variables was performed to maximize concentration of isopropanol in distillate with condenser temperature as constraint, which was considered to be above the freezing point of water. Several simulations were performed by changing operating parameters, and finally optimum isopropanol content in distillate was obtained above 58 mol%. Results of using classic controllers showed that PID controller had the best performance for both condenser temperature set-point tracking and disturbance rejection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article describes the design project of an animatronic of the Venezuelan dinosaur named Laquintasaura, which was developed from a selected concept taking into account the objective specifications derived from the needs of the client. It has a total of 9 degrees of freedom, operated by 8 mechanisms, which give the ability to perform the movements corresponding to the opening of the mouth, ascent and rotation of the head, movements of the neck, ascent and descent of the torso, rotation of the arms and movement of the tail. To design the animatronic, a structure was dimensioned, then a series of dynamic and kinematic simulations were carried out to evaluate the movements of the mechanisms, then the actuators that would execute the movements were selected. Additionally, an analysis of stresses using the Finite Element Method was applied to several mechanical elements to obtain a robust structure that meets the requested requirements.
