The article provides an overview on the services offered by the Teen Reading Club in Canada. It states that the project is a library-based national online reading program for the youth community that promotes reading and libraries. It features book recommendations, discussion forums, and scheduled chat times. It is sponsored and administered jointly by government, professional association and library partners.

Special education program for librarians is represented: monitoring and control of document storage conditions in the libraries and emergency situations. This program is a result of work have done during 5 years. During this period we visited 67 libraries in 39 cities of Russia, where we examined document storage conditions. The program concerning control of microclimate document storage conditions , library buildings, documents condition (including mould infection), methods and equipment for temperature, relative humidity, gas content in air of stocks control, dust content and microbiological control of air and documents in libraries, and actions in an emergency situation including drying and disinfection of documents. The program intends the practical works: measuring of climatic, sanitary-hygienic parameters and lighting in book storages and entering them into special forms; comparison and analysis of data obtained with various instruments. The article focuses on the study which analyzes the formal education of library and information science (LIS) professionals from countries with minority national languages. It describes the subject matter of LIS journal articles, and examines how their subject matter relates to LIS higher education in various countries. Moreover, it emphasizes the aspect of LIS education as an area of focus for academics and practitioners in terms of changing professional skill requirements.

Information about the presentation by librarian Yakov Shraiberg during the 67th IFLA Council and General Conference on August 16-25, 2001 held in Boston, Massachusetts is presented. The discussion traces the increasing number of Internet from basic access to the development of WWW-servers. It also analyzes the WWW-servers by project, corporate library network, or geographical characteristics.

The idea of the creation of such a Center for women was shaped under the influence of the whole bunch of different factors-economical, political and social. Literally to say, this idea came from the air-the current situation with women's unemployment, health and their position in family and society is so disturbing and frightening that our library system could not let the problems to exist without any attempts to solve them. It is worth to mention that the overwhelming majority of librarians as well as library patrons are women, so the conceptual frame of center sounded absolutely convincing for the Administration of the library system and for the library staff. The library was founded on the base of the public library in the distant city district, where there were no other organizations somehow linked with the information, reading and culture in general. The first thing we did was the creation of the strategic documents, intended to help the library in the future work. The main conceptual document among these documents was the library statute. This statute had stated the main mission, goals and aims of the newborn center. The main goal of the center, for example was: To help the process of cooperation of women of this community in order to help them with the solving the problems of education, information access, recreation and social rehabilitation. It was suggested by Library Administration and Committee that the work of the Center could be organized in the following directions: 1. To investigate and study the needs and demands of women-patrons of the library. 2. To Create of the specialized collection of books and other printed materials for women according to revealed necessities. 3. To Create of the specialized system of informational service for women and members of their families. 4. To organize the consulting and information services for women with the help of professional lawyers, doctors, social workers. 5. To create the effective charity system, intended to help the families with the small income, 'one parent' families, retired patrons and patrons with disabilities. The content of the work included both traditional and innovative( for our library system cervices for example: - informational (selection of the literature on the special topics; preparation of the reference materials on special themes and topics, organization of book displays, the Days of Information and book reviews) - recreational (different types of hobby-clubs, literary associations, and initiative groups) Also I would like to say some words about the library structure, management and staff.
