i.d.a. is an international network of 38 women's and lesbian archives and libraries in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Italy. Together they offer a wealth of documents concerning the organizations and activists of the Women's Movement in 19th and 20th century. Furthermore, they provide a wide range of literature on the feminist and lesbian movements, on women's and gender studies, lesbian and queer theory as well as fiction. The META catalogue was developed as a three years project, financed by the BMFSFJ (Berlin). META reflects the diversity of the i.d.a. affiliated archives and libraries and their collections and shows the bigger part of the metadata available in a digital form. Although data came from libraries as well as from archives and documentation centres with different kind of focuses, technical equipment and data formats META finally provides a homogeneous and user-friendly tool to search the holdings of the i.d.a. member institutions, increasing the visibility of women's and lesbian archives and libraries and their holdings.
