This theoretical and methodological paper will serve as a problematic introduction to this symposium, which examines the concept of boundaries and its interest in thinking about the challenges of ergonomic interventions from a developmental perspective. We will argue that thinking about boundary issues is a real challenge for the expansion of the ergonomic analysis of work, which forces us to think about the developments of the discipline in relation to the evolution of work organizations. Through the papers of this symposium, we will seek to understand how the ambition of a developmental approach implies an expansion of the boundaries of the ergonomic discipline and its unit of analysis. In what way do methodological approaches imply going beyond the usual boundaries of well-circumscribed and delimited activity systems? Conversely, how can we, through the papers presented in this symposium, characterize and better define the boundaries and identity of developmental approaches?. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
