The article presents a study which examines the response rates to Web-based survey and paper-based survey implemented across 3 practice-based research networks (PBRNs). During the study, the survey was implemented electronically with 5 rounds of electronic solicitation for an Internet-based questionnaire and 2 rounds of a paper-based version. It was found that 24 percent of the total survey responses were received in the paper mode despite intense promotion.
