This paper proposes a new method to improve re performance of intra-field interpolation which is the mos~ important element of deinterlacing method. Traditional edge- based methods were poor at determining accurate edge iirection which decides interpolation performance. The 7roposed method decides the direction and slope of edge based on locally adaptive-thresholded binary image to mprove efficiency and accuracy, and it also increased the ~orizontal size of search window to 15 for better direction ietermination at gentle slope. Compared to traditional edge- based methods, interpolation based on binary image, which is ,`enerated using the proposed method, leads to great erformance improvement. Abstract: Two-dimensional axially moving materials have a wide range of industrial applications such as papers, plastics and composites in producing lines, power transmission and conveyor belts, etc. In many of these instances, the moving material is not isotropic, but is a single-layer orthotropic material or consists of several orthotropic layers. In this article, free vibration of axially moving symmetrically laminated plates subjected to in-plan forces is studied by classical plate theory. This category includes symmetric cross-ply and angle-ply laminates and anisotropic plates. Firstly, an exact method is developed to analyze vibration of multi-span traveling cross-ply laminates, and then a semi-analytical finite strip method is extended for moving symmetric laminated plates in general, with arbitrary boundary conditions. By the finite strip method intermediate elastic or rigid supports can also be added to the model of the moving plate. The supports may be in the form of point, line or local distributed supports. This paper presents a stabilized meshfree method formulated based on the strong formulation and local approximation using radial basis functions (RBFs). The purpose of this paper is two folds. First, a regularization procedure is developed for stabilizing the solution of the radial point collocation method (RPCM). Second, an adaptive scheme using the stabilized RPCM and residual based error indicator is established. It has been shown in this paper that the features of the meshfree strong-form method can facilitated an easier implementation of adaptive analysis. A new error indicator based on the residual is devised and used in this work. As shown in the numerical examples, the new error indicator can reflect the quality of the local approximation and the global accuracy of the solution. A number of examples have been presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the present method for adaptive analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: In the present paper, a description and mathematical analysis of a simple model of nonlinear pattern formation is given. The model is based on the so-called activator-inhibitor system proposed by Thomas. We introduce time delay into the reaction term and focus on its influence on morphogenesis and pattern formation.
