As my year as chair comes to an end, I wish to express my gratitude to all who have assisted me on this journey. I also want to thank our committee chairs, vice chairs, Section members, and our staff for their contributions to all that we do as a Section. Highlights from the article: I hope that you are still feeling the buzz from our very successful Spring and Water Law Conferences in Denver, where we had informative keynote addresses from EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler; Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser; the global senior director for sustainability and alcohol policy at Molson Coors, Kim Marotta; and the special water masters in the Flint, Michigan, and the South Carolina vs. As mentioned in prior Views, the New Membership Model will offer substantially reduced membership dues for several categories of members, particularly young lawyers, nonprofit/public interest lawyers, government lawyers, and international lawyers. 16-year old Greta Thunberg, a Swedish teen who started the next generation climate movement by protesting outside the Swedish parliament and later a UN climate gathering;.

Highlights from the article: The Section will be hosting a Region 4 conference, followed by a one-day Master Class, "Complex Environmental Liability Resolution: State of Art Strategies from Superfund to Brownfields". In conjunction with the planned rollout of the ABA's New Membership Model, the Section has launched a SEER Essentials CLE webinar series, starting with programs on environmental due diligence, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) 101, Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reform, waters of the United States (WOTUS) 101, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting. Highlights from the article: In addition to the Section activities described above, I would like to update you on other important Section and ABA endeavors. After a number of hiccups, the new ABA website is now up and running, as is SEER Connect, which will be the communications vehicle for our Section going forward. The ABA Section of Administrative Law is working on a resolution for HOD consideration that addresses the role of science in environmental decision-making.

In addition, the ABA will be increasing member benefits by offering more free CLE webinars and other e-content that are curated to meet the interests of ABA members.

Highlights from the article: It is a true honor and privilege to serve as your Section chair during the 2018-2019 ABA year. Use the online "Members Seeking to Become Active in the Section" questionnaire to indicate your interest in becoming more involved in a committee-or just call or email a committee chair. As past section chair Seth Davis said about the Section in his initial "Views" column, "everyone is welcome, everyone is needed, and everyone can have a meaningful role".

As the first foreign lawyer to chair the Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources (SEER), SEER's international initiatives are particularly close to my heart. SEER was primarily responsible for the creation of the ABA Climate Change Task Force, which is led by three of our members, John Dernbach, Tracy Hester, and our former Section Chair Amy L. Edwards. John and Tracy led the ABA Delegation to COP 27, at which ABA, led by its SEER members, hosted a half-day program on "The Role of Lawyers, Bars and Law Societies in the Climate Crisis", cosponsored by several other international bar groups.
