The article explores the views of European President, chemical engineer and former Polish prime minister Jerzy Buzek about the status of chemical engineering in Europe. According to Buzek, Europe has a slow pace in the competition to dominate the high-technology and cleantech sectors. Buzek also has a vision of creating a Silicon Valley for green engineering in Europe. Buzek also believes that chemical engineers need to transform their skills to politics and has called on the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) for help.
