There is increasing focus on applying deep learning methods to electrocardiograms (ECGs), with recent studies showing that neural networks (NNs) can predict future heart failure or atrial fibrillation from the ECG alone. However, large numbers of ECGs are needed to train NNs, and many ECGs are currently only in paper format, which are not suitable for NN training. We developed a fully-automated online ECG digitisation tool to convert scanned paper ECGs into digital signals. Using automated horizontal and vertical anchor point detection, the algorithm automatically segments the ECG image into separate images for the 12 leads and a dynamical morphological algorithm is then applied to extract the signal of interest. We then validated the performance of the algorithm on 515 digital ECGs, of which 45 were printed, scanned and redigitised. The automated digitisation tool achieved 99.0% correlation between the digitised signals and the ground truth ECG (n = 515 standard 3-by-4 ECGs) after excluding ECGs with overlap of lead signals. Without exclusion, the performance of average correlation was from 90 to 97% across the leads on all 3-by-4 ECGs. There was a 97% correlation for 12-by-1 and 3-by-1 ECG formats after excluding ECGs with overlap of lead signals. Without exclusion, the average correlation of some leads in 12-by-1 ECGs was 60–70% and the average correlation of 3-by-1 ECGs achieved 80–90%. ECGs that were printed, scanned, and redigitised, our tool achieved 96% correlation with the original signals. We have developed and validated a fully-automated, user-friendly, online ECG digitisation tool. Unlike other available tools, this does not require any manual segmentation of ECG signals. Building extraction aims to extract building pixels from remote sensing imagery, which plays a significant role in urban planning, dynamic urban monitoring, and many other applications. UNet3+ is widely applied in building extraction from remote sensing images. However, it still faces issues such as low segmentation accuracy, imprecise boundary delineation, and the complexity of network models. Therefore, based on the UNet3+ model, this paper proposes a 3D Joint Attention (3DJA) module that effectively enhances the correlation between local and global features, obtaining more accurate object semantic information and enhancing feature representation. The 3DJA module models semantic interdependence in the vertical and horizontal dimensions to obtain feature map spatial encoding information, as well as in the channel dimensions to increase the correlation between dependent channel graphs. In addition, a bottleneck module is constructed to reduce the number of network parameters and improve model training efficiency. Many experiments are conducted on publicly accessible WHU,INRIA and Massachusetts building dataset, and the benchmarks, BOMSC-Net, CVNet, SCA-Net, SPCL-Net, ACMFNet, MFCF-Net models are selected for comparison with the 3DJA-UNet3+ model proposed in this paper. The experimental results show that 3DJA-UNet3+ achieves competitive results in three evaluation indicators: overall accuracy, mean intersection over union, and F1-score. The Internet era is an era of information explosion. By 2022, the global Internet users have reached more than 4 billion, and the social media users have exceeded 3 billion. People face a lot of news content every day, and it is almost impossible to get interesting information by browsing all the news content. Under this background, personalized news recommendation technology has been widely used, but it still needs to be further optimized and improved. In order to better push the news content of interest to different readers, users' satisfaction with major news websites should be further improved. This study proposes a new recommendation algorithm based on deep learning and reinforcement learning. Firstly, the RL algorithm is introduced based on deep learning. Deep learning is excellent in processing large-scale data and complex pattern recognition, but it often faces the challenge of low sample efficiency when it comes to complex decision-making and sequential tasks. While reinforcement learning (RL) emphasizes learning optimization strategies through continuous trial and error through interactive learning with the environment. Compared with deep learning, RL is more suitable for scenes that need long-term decision-making and trial-and-error learning. By feeding back the reward signal of the action, the system can better adapt to the unknown environment and complex tasks, which makes up for the relative shortcomings of deep learning in these aspects. A scenario is applied to an action to solve the sequential decision problem in the news dissemination process. In order to enable the news recommendation system to consider the dynamic changes in users' interest in news content, the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient algorithm is applied to the news recommendation scenario. Opposing learning complements and combines Deep Q-network with the strategic network. On the basis of fully summarizing and thinking, this paper puts forward the mode of intelligent news dissemination and push. The push process of news communication information based on edge computing technology is proposed. Finally, based on Area Under Curve a Q-Leaning Area Under Curve for RL models is proposed. This indicator can measure the strengths and weaknesses of RL models efficiently and facilitates comparing models and evaluating offline experiments. The results show that the DDPG algorithm improves the click-through rate by 2.586% compared with the conventional recommendation algorithm. It shows that the algorithm designed in this paper has more obvious advantages in accurate recommendation by users. This paper effectively improves the efficiency of news dissemination by optimizing the push mode of intelligent news dissemination. Epilepsy is one of the most well-known neurological disorders globally, leading to individuals experiencing sudden seizures and significantly impacting their quality of life. Hence, there is an urgent necessity for an efficient method to detect and predict seizures in order to mitigate the risks faced by epilepsy patients. In this paper, a new method for seizure detection and prediction is proposed, which is based on multi-class feature fusion and the convolutional neural network-gated recurrent unit-attention mechanism (CNN-GRU-AM) model. Initially, the Electroencephalography (EEG) signal undergoes wavelet decomposition through the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), resulting in six subbands. Subsequently, time–frequency domain and nonlinear features are extracted from each subband. Finally, the CNN-GRU-AM further extracts features and performs classification. The CHB-MIT dataset is used to validate the proposed approach. The results of tenfold cross validation show that our method achieved a sensitivity of 99.24% and 95.47%, specificity of 99.51% and 94.93%, accuracy of 99.35% and 95.16%, and an AUC of 99.34% and 95.15% in seizure detection and prediction tasks, respectively. The results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively achieve high-precision detection and prediction of seizures, so as to remind patients and doctors to take timely protective measures. In transportation, roads sometimes have cracks due to overloading and other reasons, which seriously affect driving safety, and it is crucial to identify and fill road cracks in time. Aiming at the defects of existing semantic segmentation models that have degraded the segmentation performance of road crack images and the standard convolution makes it challenging to capture the spatial and channel coupling relationship between pixels. It is difficult to differentiate crack pixels from background pixels in complex backgrounds; this paper proposes a semantic segmentation model for road cracks that combines channel-spatial convolution with the aggregation of frequency features. A new convolutional block is proposed to accurately identify cracked pixels by grouping spatial displacements and convolutional kernel weight dynamization while modeling pixel spatial relationships linked to channel features. To enhance the contrast of crack edges, a frequency domain feature aggregation module is proposed, which uses a simple windowing strategy to solve the problem of mismatch of frequency domain inputs and, at the same time, takes into account the effect of the frequency imaginary part on the features to model the deep frequency features effectively. Finally, a feature refinement module is designed to refine the semantic features to improve the segmentation accuracy. In the petroleum and coal industries, digital image technology and acoustic emission technology are employed to study rock properties, but both exhibit flaws during data processing. Digital image technology is vulnerable to interference from fractures and scaling, leading to potential loss of image data; while acoustic emission technology is not hindered by these issues, noise from rock destruction can interfere with the electrical signals, causing errors. The monitoring errors of these techniques can undermine the effectiveness of rock damage analysis. To address this issue, this paper focuses on the restoration of image data acquired through digital image technology, leveraging deep learning techniques, and using soft and hard rocks made of similar materials as research subjects, an improved Incremental Transformer image algorithm is employed to repair distorted or missing strain nephograms during uniaxial compression experiments. The concrete implementation entails using a comprehensive training set of strain nephograms derived from digital image technology, fabricating masks for absent image segments, and predicting strain nephograms with full strain detail. Additionally, we adopt deep separable convolutional networks to optimize the algorithm's operational efficiency. Based on this, the analysis of rock damage is conducted using the repaired strain nephograms, achieving a closer correlation with the actual physical processes of rock damage compared to conventional digital image technology and acoustic emission techniques. The improved incremental Transformer algorithm presented in this paper will contribute to enhancing the efficiency of digital image technology in the realm of rock damage, saving time and money, and offering an innovative approach to traditional rock damage analysis. De-mining operations are of critical importance for humanitarian efforts and safety in conflict-affected regions. In this paper, we address the challenge of enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of mine detection systems. We present an innovative Deep Learning architecture tailored for pulse induction-based Metallic Mine Detectors (MMD), so called DL-MMD. Our methodology leverages deep neural networks to distinguish amongst nine distinct materials with an exceptional validation accuracy of 93.5%. This high level of precision enables us not only to differentiate between anti-personnel mines, without metal plates but also to detect minuscule 0.2-g vertical paper pins in both mineralized soil and non-mineralized environments. Moreover, through comparative analysis, we demonstrate a substantial 3% and 7% improvement (approx.) in accuracy performance compared to the traditional K-Nearest Neighbors and Support Vector Machine classifiers, respectively. The fusion of deep neural networks with the pulse induction-based MMD not only presents a cost-effective solution but also significantly expedites decision-making processes in de-mining operations, ultimately contributing to improved safety and effectiveness in these critical endeavors. With a significant number of mechanical products approaching the retirement phase, the batch recycling of discarded mechanical parts necessitates a preliminary assessment of their surface condition. However, the presence of surface rust poses a challenge to defect identification. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for detecting heavily rusted surface defects based on an improved YOLOv8n network. In the Backbone, the C2f-DBB module of re-parameterized deep feature extraction was introduced, and the attention module was designed to improve the accuracy of information extraction. In the Neck part, a Bi-Afpn multiscale feature fusion strategy is designed to facilitate information exchange between features at different scales. Finally, Focal-CIoU is employed as the bounding box loss function to enhance the network's localization performance and accuracy for defects. Experimentally, it is proved that the improved network in this paper improves the Recall, Precision, and mAP0.5 by 1.2%, 2.1%, and 1.9%, respectively, on the original basis, which is better than other network models. Current approaches to activity-assisted living (AAL) are complex, expensive, and intrusive, which reduces their practicality and end user acceptance. However, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and wireless communications offer new opportunities to enhance AAL systems. These improvements could potentially lower healthcare costs and reduce hospitalisations by enabling more effective identification, monitoring, and localisation of hazardous activities, ensuring rapid response to emergencies. In response to these challenges, this paper introduces the TransparentRFIDTag Wall (TRT-Wall), a novel system taht utilises a passive ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag array combined with deep learning for contactless human activity monitoring. The TRT-Wall is tested on five distinct activities: sitting, standing, walking (in both directions), and no-activity. Experimental results demonstrate that the TRT-Wall distinguishes these activities with an impressive average accuracy of 95.6 % under four distinct distances (2, 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 m) by capturing the RSSI and phase information. In the field of spinal pathology, sagittal balance of the spine is usually judged by the spatial structure and morphology of pelvis, which can be represented by pelvic parameters. Pelvic parameters, including pelvic incidence, pelvic tilt and sacral slope, are therefore essential for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders, however, it is a time-consuming and laborious procedure to measure these parameters by traditional methods. In this paper, an automatic measurement framework for pelvic CT images was proposed to calculate three-dimensional (3D) pelvic parameters with the support of deep learning technology. Pelvic images were first preprocessed, and 3D reconstruction was then performed to obtain 3D pelvic model by the Visualization Toolkit. DRINet was trained to segment the femoral head region in the pelvic images, and 3D sphere fitting was performed to locate the femoral heads. In addition, VGG16 was adopted to recognize images containing superior sacral endplate, and the plane growth algorithm was used to fit the plane so that the midpoint and normal vector of the superior sacral endplate could be obtained. Finally, 3D pelvic parameters were automatically calculated, and compared with manual measurements for 15 patients. The proposed framework automatically generated 3D pelvic models, and calculated two-dimensional (2D) and 3D pelvic parameters from continuous CT images. Experiments demonstrated that the framework can greatly speed up the calculation of pelvic parameters, and these parameters are accurate when compared with the manual measurements. In conclusion, the proposed framework demonstrates good performance on automatic pelvimetry measurement by incorporating deep learning technology, and can well replace the traditional methods for pelvic parameter measurement. Across the globe, many transport bodies are advocating for increased cycling due to its health and environmental benefits. Yet, the real and perceived dangers of urban cycling remain obstacles. While serious injuries and fatalities in cycling are infrequent, "near misses"-events where a person on a bike is forced to avoid a potential crash or is unsettled by a close vehicle-are more prevalent. To understand these occurrences, researchers have turned to naturalistic studies, attaching various sensors like video cameras to bikes or cyclists. This sensor data holds the potential to unravel the risks cyclists face. Still, the sheer amount of video data often demands manual processing, limiting the scope of such studies. In this paper, we unveil a cutting-edge computer vision framework tailored for automated near-miss video analysis and for detecting various associated risk factors. Additionally, the framework can understand the statistical significance of various risk factors, providing a comprehensive understanding of the issues faced by cyclists. We shed light on the pronounced effects of factors like glare, vehicle and pedestrian presence, examining their roles in near misses through Granger causality with varied time lags. This framework enables the automated detection of multiple factors and understanding their significant weight, thus enhancing the efficiency and scope of naturalistic cycling studies. The global interest in market prediction has driven the adoption of advanced technologies beyond traditional statistical models. This paper explores the use of machine learning and deep learning techniques for stock market forecasting. We propose a comprehensive approach that includes efficient feature selection, data preprocessing, and classification methodologies. The wavelet transform method is employed for data cleaning and noise reduction. Feature selection is optimized using the Dandelion Optimization Algorithm (DOA), identifying the most relevant input features. A novel hybrid model, 3D-CNN-GRU, integrating a 3D convolutional neural network with a gated recurrent unit, is developed for stock market data analysis. Hyperparameter tuning is facilitated by the Blood Coagulation Algorithm (BCA), enhancing model performance. Our methodology achieves a remarkable prediction accuracy of 99.14%, demonstrating robustness and efficacy in stock market forecasting applications. While our model shows significant promise, it is limited by the scope of the dataset, which includes only the Nifty 50 index. The multi-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is widely utilized in clinical diagnosis and monitoring of cardiac conditions. The advancement of deep learning has led to the emergence of automated multi-lead ECG diagnostic networks, which have become essential in the fields of biomedical engineering and clinical cardiac disease diagnosis. Intelligent ECG diagnosis techniques encompass Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Transformers, and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). While CNN is capable of extracting local spatial information from images, it lacks the ability to learn global spatial features and temporal memory features. Conversely, RNN relies on time and can retain significant sequential features. However, they are not proficient in extracting lengthy dependencies of sequence data in practical scenarios. The self-attention mechanism in the Transformer model has the capability of global feature extraction, but it does not adequately prioritize local features and cannot extract spatial and channel features. This paper proposes STFAC-ECGNet, a model that incorporates CAMV-RNN block, CBMV-CNN block, and TSEF block to enhance the performance of the model by integrating the strengths of CNN, RNN, and Transformer. The CAMV-RNN block incorporates a coordinated adaptive simplified self-attention module that adaptively carries out global sequence feature retention and enhances spatial–temporal information. The CBMV-CNN block integrates spatial and channel attentional mechanism modules in a skip connection, enabling the fusion of spatial and channel information. The TSEF block implements enhanced multi-scale fusion of image spatial and sequence temporal features. In this study, comprehensive experiments were conducted using the PTB-XL large publicly available ECG dataset and the China Physiological Signal Challenge 2018 (CPSC2018) database. The ubiquitous presence of electronic devices demands robust hardware security mechanisms to safeguard sensitive information from threats. This paper presents a physical unclonable function (PUF) circuit based on magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM). The circuit utilizes inherent characteristics arising from fabrication variations, specifically magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) cell resistance, to produce corresponding outputs for applied challenges. In contrast to Arbiter PUF, the proposed effectively satisfies the strict avalanche criterion (SAC). Additionally, the grid-like structure of the proposed circuit preserves its resistance against machine learning-based modeling attacks. Various machine learning (ML) attacks employing multilayer perceptron (MLP), linear regression (LR), and support vector machine (SVM) networks are simulated for two-array and four-array architectures. The MLP-attack prediction accuracy was 53.61% for a two-array circuit and 49.87% for a four-array circuit, showcasing robust performance even under the worst-case process variations. In addition, deep learning-based modeling attacks in considerable high dimensions utilizing multiple networks such as convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), MLP, and Larq are used with the accuracy of 50.31%, 50.25%, 50.31%, and 50.31%, respectively. The efficiency of the proposed circuit at the layout level is also investigated for simplified two-array architecture. The simulation results indicate that the proposed circuit offers intra and inter-hamming distance (HD) with a mean of 0.98% and 49.96%, respectively, and a mean diffuseness of 49.09%. The global transportation electrification commerce sector is now booming. Stakeholders are paying an increased attention to the integration of electric vehicles and electric buses into the transportation networks. As a result, there is an urgent need to invest in public charging infrastructure, particularly for fast charging facilities. Consequently, and to complete the portfolio of the green environment, these fast-charging stations (FCSs) are designed using 100% of renewable energy sources (RESs). Thus, this paper proposes an optimization model for the techno-economic assessment of FCSs comprising photovoltaic and wind turbines with various energy storage devices (ESDs). In this regard, the FCS performance is evaluated using flywheels and super capacitors due to their high-power density and charging/discharging cycles and rates. Then, optimal sizing of these distributed generators is attained considering diverse technical and economical key performance indicators. Afterwards, the problem gets more sophisticated by investigating the effect of RES's uncertainties on the selection criterion of the FCS's components, design and capacity. Eventually, as an effort dedicated to an online energy management approach, a deep learning methodology based on radial basis network (RBN) is implemented, validated, and carried out. Computer-aided diagnosis has been slow to develop in the field of oral ulcers. One of the major reasons for this is the lack of publicly available datasets. However, oral ulcers have cancerous lesions and their mortality rate is high. The ability to recognize oral ulcers at an early stage in a timely and effective manner is a very critical issue. In recent years, although there exists a small group of researchers working on these, the datasets are private. Therefore to address this challenge, in this paper a multi-tasking oral ulcer dataset (Autooral) containing two major tasks of lesion segmentation and classification is proposed and made publicly available. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first team to make publicly available an oral ulcer dataset with multi-tasking. In addition, we propose a novel modeling framework, HF-UNet, for segmenting oral ulcer lesion regions. Specifically, the proposed high-order focus interaction module (HFblock) performs acquisition of global properties and focus for acquisition of local properties through high-order attention. The proposed lesion localization module (LL-M) employs a novel hybrid sobel filter, which improves the recognition of ulcer edges. Experimental results on the proposed Autooral dataset show that our proposed HF-UNet segmentation of oral ulcers achieves a DSC value of about 0.80 and the inference memory occupies only 2029 MB. The proposed method guarantees a low running load while maintaining a high-performance segmentation capability. COVID-19 has resulted in a significant global impact on health, the economy, education, and daily life. The disease can range from mild to severe, with individuals over 65 or those with underlying medical conditions being more susceptible to severe illness. Early testing and isolation are vital due to the virus’s variable incubation period. Chest radiographs (CXR) have gained importance as a diagnostic tool due to their efficiency and reduced radiation exposure compared to CT scans. However, the sensitivity of CXR in detecting COVID-19 may be lower. This paper introduces a deep learning framework for accurate COVID-19 classification and severity prediction using CXR images. U-Net is used for lung segmentation, achieving a precision of 0.9924. Classification is performed using a Convulation-capsule network, with high true positive rates of 86% for COVID-19, 93% for pneumonia, and 85% for normal cases. Severity assessment employs ResNet50, VGG-16, and DenseNet201, with DenseNet201 showing superior accuracy. Empirical results, validated with 95% confidence intervals, confirm the framework’s reliability and robustness. In ophthalmology, artificial intelligence methods show great promise due to their potential to enhance clinical observations with predictive capabilities and support physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This paper focuses on modelling glaucoma evolution because it requires early diagnosis, individualized treatment, and lifelong monitoring. Glaucoma is a chronic, progressive, irreversible, multifactorial optic neuropathy that primarily affects elderly individuals. It is important to emphasize that the processed data are taken from medical records, unlike other studies in the literature that rely on image acquisition and processing. Although more challenging to handle, this approach has the advantage of including a wide range of parameters in large numbers, which can highlight their potential influence. Artificial neural networks are used to study glaucoma progression, designed through successive trials for near-optimal configurations using the NeuroSolutions and PyTorch frameworks. Furthermore, different problems are formulated to demonstrate the influence of various structural and functional parameters on the study of glaucoma progression. Optimal neural networks were obtained using a program written in Python using the PyTorch deep learning framework. For various tasks, very small errors in training and validation, under 5%, were obtained. Advances in sensor, computing, and communication technologies are enabling big data analytics by providing time series data. However, conventional models struggle to identify sequence features and forecast accuracy. This paper investigates time series features and shows that some machine learning algorithms can outperform deep learning models. In particular, the problem analyzed concerned predicting the number of vehicles passing through an Italian tollbooth in 2021. The dataset, composed of 8766 rows and 6 columns relating to additional tollbooths, proved to have high stationarity and was treated through machine learning methods such as support vector machine, random forest, and eXtreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), as well as deep learning through recurrent neural networks with long short-term memory (RNN-LSTM) cells. From the comparison of these models, the prediction through the XGBoost algorithm outperforms competing algorithms, particularly in terms of MAE and MSE. The result highlights how a shallower algorithm than a neural network is, in this case, able to obtain a better adaptation to the time series instead of a much deeper model that tends to develop a smoother prediction. As computer image processing and digital technologies advance, creating an efficient method for classifying sports images is crucial for the rapid retrieval and management of large image datasets. Traditional manual methods for classifying sports images are impractical for large-scale data and often inaccurate when distinguishing similar images. This paper introduces an SE module that adaptively adjusts the weights of input feature mapping channels, and a Res module that excels in deep feature extraction, preventing gradient vanishing, multi-scale processing, and enhancing generalization in image recognition. Through extensive experimentation on network structure adjustments, the SE-RES-CNN neural network model is applied to sports image classification. The model is trained on a sports image classification dataset from Kaggle, alongside VGG-16 and ResNet50 models. Training results show that the proposed SE-RES-CNN model improves classification accuracy by approximately 5% compared to VGG-16 and ResNet50 models. The effective detection of safflower in the field is crucial for implementing automated visual navigation and harvesting systems. Due to the small physical size of safflower clusters, their dense spatial distribution, and the complexity of field scenes, current target detection technologies face several challenges in safflower detection, such as insufficient accuracy and high computational demands. Therefore, this paper introduces an improved safflower target detection model based on YOLOv5, termed Safflower-YOLO (SF-YOLO). This model employs Ghost_conv to replace traditional convolution blocks in the backbone network, significantly enhancing computational efficiency. Furthermore, the CBAM attention mechanism is integrated into the backbone network, and a combined L C I O U + N W D loss function is introduced to allow for more precise feature extraction, enhanced adaptive fusion capabilities, and accelerated loss convergence. Anchor boxes, updated through K-means clustering, are used to replace the original anchors, enabling the model to better adapt to the multi-scale information of safflowers in the field. Data augmentation techniques such as Gaussian blur, noise addition, sharpening, and channel shuffling are applied to the dataset to maintain robustness against variations in lighting, noise, and visual angles. Experimental results demonstrate that SF-YOLO surpasses the original YOLOv5s model, with reductions in GFlops and Params from 15.8 to 13.2 G and 7.013 to 5.34 M, respectively, representing decreases of 16.6% and 23.9%. Forecasting stock movements is a crucial research endeavor in finance, aiding traders in making informed decisions for enhanced profitability. Utilizing actual stock prices and correlating factors from the Wind platform presents a potent yet intricate forecasting approach. While previous methodologies have explored this avenue, they encounter challenges including limited comprehension of interrelations among stock data elements, diminished accuracy in extensive series, and struggles with anomaly points. This paper introduces an advanced hybrid model for stock price prediction, termed PMANet. PMANet is founded on Multi-scale Timing Feature Attention, amalgamating Multi-scale Timing Feature Convolution and Ant Particle Swarm Optimization. The model elevates the understanding of dependencies and interrelations within stock data sequences through Probabilistic Positional Attention. While the globe continues to struggle to recover from the devastation brought on by the COVID-19 virus's extensive distribution, the recent worrying rise in human monkeypox outbreaks in several nations raises the possibility of a novel worldwide pandemic. The symptoms of human monkeypox resemble those of chickenpox and traditional measles, with a few subtle variations like the various kinds of skin blisters. A range of deep learning techniques have demonstrated encouraging results in image-oriented tumor cell, Covid-19 diagnosis, and skin disease prediction tasks. Hence, it becomes necessary to perform the prediction of the new monkeypox disease using deep learning techniques. In this paper, an image-oriented human monkeypox disease prediction is performed with the help of novel deep learning methodology. Initially, the data is gathered from the standard benchmark dataset called Monkeypox Skin Lesion Dataset. From the collected data, the pre-processing is accomplished using image resizing and image normalization as well as data augmentation techniques. These pre-processed images undergo the feature extraction that is performed by the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) approach. The extracted features undergo the final prediction phase using the Modified Restricted Boltzmann Machine (MRBM), where the parameter tuning in RBM is accomplished by the nature inspired optimization algorithm referred to as Equilibrium Optimizer (EO), with the consideration of error minimization as the major objective function. Simulation findings demonstrate that the proposed model performed better than the remaining models at monkeypox prediction. Chemical molecular structures are a direct and convenient means of expressing chemical knowledge, playing a vital role in academic communication. In chemistry, hand drawing is a common task for students and researchers. If we can convert hand-drawn chemical molecular structures into machine-readable formats, like SMILES encoding, computers can efficiently process and analyze these structures, significantly enhancing the efficiency of chemical research. Furthermore, with the progress of educational technology, automated grading is gaining popularity. When machines automatically recognize chemical molecular structures and assess the correctness of the drawings, it offers great convenience to teachers. We created ChemReco, a tool designed to identify chemical molecular structures involving three atoms: C, H, and O, providing convenience for chemical researchers. Currently, there are limited studies on hand-drawn chemical molecular structures. Therefore, the primary focus of this paper is constructing datasets. We propose a synthetic image method to rapidly generate images resembling hand-drawn chemical molecular structures, enhancing dataset acquisition efficiency. Regarding model selection, the hand-drawn chemical molecule structural recognition model developed in this article achieves a final recognition accuracy of 96.90%. Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) is a challenging task due to the complex structures and variations present in handwritten text. In recent years, the application of gated mechanisms, such as Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, has brought significant advancements to HTR systems. This paper presents an overview of HTR using a gated mechanism and highlights its novelty and advantages. The gated mechanism enables the model to capture long-term dependencies, retain relevant context, handle variable length sequences, mitigate error propagation, and adapt to contextual variations. The pipeline involves preprocessing the handwritten text images, extracting features, modeling the sequential dependencies using the gated mechanism, and decoding the output into readable text. The training process utilizes annotated datasets and optimization techniques to minimize transcription discrepancies. HTR using a gated mechanism has found applications in digitizing historical documents, automatic form processing, and real-time transcription. The results show improved accuracy and robustness compared to traditional HTR approaches. The advancements in HTR using a gated mechanism open up new possibilities for effectively recognizing and transcribing handwritten text in various domains. Aquatic non-indigenous species (NIS) pose significant threats to biodiversity, disrupting ecosystems and inflicting substantial economic damages across agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. Due to the fast growth of global trade and transportation networks, NIS has been introduced and spread unintentionally in new environments. This study develops a new physics-informed model to forecast maritime shipping traffic between port regions worldwide. The predicted information provided by these models, in turn, is used as input for risk assessment of NIS spread through transportation networks to evaluate the capability of our solution. Inspired by the gravity model for international trades, our model considers various factors that influence the likelihood and impact of vessel activities, such as shipping flux density, distance between ports, trade flow, and centrality measures of transportation hubs. Accordingly, this paper introduces transformers to gravity models to rebuild the short- and long-term dependencies that make the risk analysis feasible. Thus, we introduce a physics-inspired framework that achieves an 89% binary accuracy for existing and non-existing trajectories and an 84.8% accuracy for the number of vessels flowing between key port areas, representing more than 10% improvement over the traditional deep-gravity model. Along these lines, this research contributes to a better understanding of NIS risk assessment. It allows policymakers, conservationists, and stakeholders to prioritize management actions by identifying high-risk invasion pathways. Secondary structure prediction is a key step in understanding protein function and biological properties and is highly important in the fields of new drug development, disease treatment, bioengineering, etc. Accurately predicting the secondary structure of proteins helps to reveal how proteins are folded and how they function in cells. The application of deep learning models in protein structure prediction is particularly important because of their ability to process complex sequence information and extract meaningful patterns and features, thus significantly improving the accuracy and efficiency of prediction. In this study, a combined model integrating an improved temporal convolutional network (TCN), bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM), and a multi-head attention (MHA) mechanism is proposed to enhance the accuracy of protein prediction in both eight-state and three-state structures. One-hot encoding features and word vector representations of physicochemical properties are incorporated. A significant emphasis is placed on knowledge distillation techniques utilizing the ProtT5 pretrained model, leading to performance improvements. The improved TCN, achieved through multiscale fusion and bidirectional operations, allows for better extraction of amino acid sequence features than traditional TCN models. The model demonstrated excellent prediction performance on multiple datasets. With the advancement of science and technology, coal-washing plants are transitioning to intelligent, information-based, and professional sorting systems. This shift accelerates the construction a modern economic system characterized by green and low-carbon development, thereby promoting the high-quality advancement of the coal industry. Traditional manual gangue picking and multi-axis robotic arm gangue selection currently suffer from low recognition accuracy, slow sorting efficiency, and high worker labor intensity. This paper proposes a deep learning-based, non-contact gangue recognition and pneumatic intelligent sorting system. The system constructs a dynamic database containing key feature information such as the target gangue's contour, quality, and center of mass. The system elucidates the relationships between ejection speed, mass, volume, angle of incidence, and the impact energy matching mechanism. Demonstration experiments using the system prototype for coal gangue sorting reveal that, compared to existing robotic arm sorting methods in coal washing plants, this system achieves a gangue identification accuracy exceeding 97%, a sorting rate above 91%, and a separation time of less than 3 s from identification to separation, thereby effectively enhancing raw coal purity. Bone segmentation is an important step to perform biomechanical failure load simulations on in-vivo CT data of patients with bone metastasis, as it is a mandatory operation to obtain meshes needed for numerical simulations. Segmentation can be a tedious and time consuming task when done manually, and expert segmentations are subject to intra- and inter-operator variability. Deep learning methods are increasingly employed to automatically carry out image segmentation tasks. These networks usually need to be trained on a large image dataset along with the manual segmentations to maximize generalization to new images, but it is not always possible to have access to a multitude of CT-scans with the associated ground truth. It then becomes necessary to use training techniques to make the best use of the limited available data. In this paper, we propose a dedicated pipeline of preprocessing, deep learning based segmentation method and post-processing for in-vivo human femurs and vertebrae segmentation from CT-scans volumes. We experimented with three U-Net architectures and showed that out-of-the-box models enable automatic and high-quality volume segmentation if carefully trained. We compared the failure load simulation results obtained on femurs and vertebrae using either automatic or manual segmentations and studied the sensitivity of the simulations on small variations of the automatic segmentation. The failure loads obtained using automatic segmentations were comparable to those obtained using manual expert segmentations for all the femurs and vertebrae tested, demonstrating the effectiveness of the automated segmentation approach for failure load simulations. Due to the large computational overhead, underutilization of features, and high bandwidth consumption in traditional SDN environments for DDoS attack detection and mitigation methods, this paper proposes a two-stage detection and mitigation method for DDoS attacks in SDN based on multi-dimensional characteristics. Firstly, an analysis of the traffic statistics from the SDN switch ports is performed, which aids in conducting a coarse-grained detection of DDoS attacks within the network. Subsequently, a Multi-Dimensional Deep Convolutional Classifier (MDDCC) is constructed using wavelet decomposition and convolutional neural networks to extract multi-dimensional characteristics from the traffic data passing through suspicious switches. Based on these extracted multi-dimensional characteristics, a simple classifier can be employed to accurately detect attack samples. Finally, by integrating graph theory with restrictive strategies, the source of attacks in SDN networks can be effectively traced and isolated. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method, which utilizes a minimal amount of statistical information, can quickly and accurately detect attacks within the SDN network. It demonstrates superior accuracy and generalization capabilities compared to traditional detection methods, especially when tested on both simulated and public datasets. Furthermore, by isolating the affected nodes, the method effectively mitigates the impact of the attacks, ensuring the normal transmission of legitimate traffic during network attacks. With technological innovations, enterprises in the real world are managing every iota of data as it can be mined to derive business intelligence (BI). However, when data comes from multiple sources, it may result in duplicate records. As data is given paramount importance, it is also significant to eliminate duplicate entities towards data integration, performance and resource optimization. To realize reliable systems for record deduplication, late, deep learning could offer exciting provisions with a learning-based approach. Deep ER is one of the deep learning-based methods used recently for dealing with the elimination of duplicates in structured data. Using it as a reference model, in this paper, we propose a framework known as Enhanced Deep Learning-based Record Deduplication (EDL-RD) for improving performance further. Towards this end, we exploited a variant of Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) along with various attribute compositions, similarity metrics, and numerical and null value resolution. We proposed an algorithm known as Efficient Learning based Record Deduplication (ELbRD). The algorithm extends the reference model with the aforementioned enhancements. Employing deep learning techniques for the semantic segmentation of remote sensing images has emerged as a prevalent approach for acquiring information about water bodies. Yet, current models frequently fall short in accurately extracting water bodies from high-resolution remote sensing images, as these images often present intricate details of terrestrial objects and complex backgrounds. Vegetation, shadows, and other objects close to water boundaries have increased similarity to water bodies. Moreover, water bodies in high-resolution images have different boundary complexities, shapes, and sizes. This situation makes it somewhat challenging to accurately distinguish water bodies in high-resolution images. To overcome these difficulties, this paper presents a novel network model named EU-Net, specifically designed to extract water bodies from high-resolution remote sensing images. The proposed EU-Net model, with U-net as the backbone network, incorporates improved residual connections and attention mechanisms, and designs multi-scale dilated convolution and multi-scale feature fusion modules to enhance water body extraction performance in complex scenarios. Specifically, in the proposed model, improved residual connections are introduced to enable the learning of more complex features; the attention mechanism is employed to improve the model's discriminative ability by focusing on important channels and spatial areas. The implemented multi-scale dilated convolution technique enhances the model's receptive field while maintaining the same number of parameters. The designed multi-scale feature fusion module is capable of processing both small-scale details and large-scale structures in images, while simultaneously modeling the spatial context relationships of features at different scales. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major global health concern, affecting millions of individuals worldwide. While existing literature predominantly focuses on disease classification using clinical data, there exists a critical research gap concerning HCV genotyping based on genomic sequences. Accurate HCV genotyping is essential for patient management and treatment decisions. While the neural models excel at capturing complex patterns, they still face challenges, such as data scarcity, that exist a lot in computational genomics. To overcome this challenges, this paper introduces an advanced deep learning approach for HCV genotyping based on the graphical representation of nucleotide sequences that outperforms classical approaches. Notably, it is effective for both partial and complete HCV genomes and addresses challenges associated with imbalanced datasets. In this work, ten HCV genotypes: 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 2c, 3a, 3b, 4, 5, and 6 were used in the analysis. This study utilizes Chaos Game Representation for 2D mapping of genomic sequences, employing self-supervised learning using convolutional autoencoder for deep feature extraction, resulting in an outstanding performance for HCV genotyping compared to various machine learning and deep learning models. This baseline provides a benchmark against which the performance of the proposed approach and other models can be evaluated. The experimental results showcase a remarkable classification accuracy of over 99%, outperforming traditional deep learning models. This performance demonstrates the capability of the proposed model to accurately identify HCV genotypes in both partial and complete sequences and in dealing with data scarcity for certain genotypes. The intelligent appearance quality classification method for Auricularia auricula is of great significance to promote this industry. This paper proposes an appearance quality classification method for Auricularia auricula based on the improved Faster Region-based Convolutional Neural Networks (improved Faster RCNN) framework. The original Faster RCNN is improved by establishing a multiscale feature fusion detection model to improve the accuracy and real-time performance of the model. The multiscale feature fusion detection model makes full use of shallow feature information to complete target detection. It fuses shallow features with rich detailed information with deep features rich in strong semantic information. Since the fusion algorithm directly uses the existing information of the feature extraction network, there is no additional calculation. The fused features contain more original detailed feature information. Therefore, the improved Faster RCNN can improve the final detection rate without sacrificing speed. By comparing with the original Faster RCNN model, the mean average precision (mAP) of the improved Faster RCNN is increased by 2.13%. The average precision (AP) of the first-level Auricularia auricula is almost unchanged at a high level. The AP of the second-level Auricularia auricula is increased by nearly 5%. And the third-level Auricularia auricula AP is increased by 1%. The improved Faster RCNN improves the frames per second from 6.81 of the original Faster RCNN to 13.5. The hippocampus is a critical component of the brain and is associated with many neurological disorders. It can be further subdivided into several subfields, and accurate segmentation of these subfields is of great significance for diagnosis and research. However, the structures of hippocampal subfields are irregular and have complex boundaries, and their voxel values are close to surrounding brain tissues, making the segmentation task highly challenging. Currently, many automatic segmentation tools exist for hippocampal subfield segmentation, but they suffer from high time costs and low segmentation accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new dual-branch segmentation network structure (DSnet) based on deep learning for hippocampal subfield segmentation. While traditional convolutional neural network-based methods are effective in capturing hierarchical structures, they struggle to establish long-term dependencies. The DSnet integrates the Transformer architecture and a hybrid attention mechanism, enhancing the network's global perceptual capabilities. Moreover, the dual-branch structure of DSnet leverages the segmentation results of the hippocampal region to facilitate the segmentation of its subfields. We validate the efficacy of our algorithm on the public Kulaga-Yoskovitz dataset. Experimental results indicate that our method is more effective in segmenting hippocampal subfields than conventional single-branch network structures. Early detection of the adenocarcinoma cancer in colon tissue by means of explainable deep learning, by classifying histological images and providing visual explainability on model prediction. Considering that in recent years, deep learning techniques have emerged as powerful techniques in medical image analysis, offering unprecedented accuracy and efficiency, in this paper we propose a method to automatically detect the presence of cancerous cells in colon tissue images. Various deep learning architectures are considered, with the aim of considering the best one in terms of quantitative and qualitative results. As a matter of fact, we consider qualitative results by taking into account the so-called prediction explainability, by providing a way to highlight on the tissue images the areas that from the model point of view are related to the presence of colon cancer. The experimental analysis, performed on 10,000 colon issue images, showed the effectiveness of the proposed method by obtaining an accuracy equal to 0.99. Alzheimer's disease (AD), the predominant form of dementia, is a growing global challenge, emphasizing the urgent need for accurate and early diagnosis. Current clinical diagnoses rely on radiologist expert interpretation, which is prone to human error. Deep learning has thus far shown promise for early AD diagnosis. However, existing methods often overlook focal structural atrophy critical for enhanced understanding of the cerebral cortex neurodegeneration. This paper proposes a deep learning framework that includes a novel structure-focused neurodegeneration CNN architecture named SNeurodCNN and an image brightness enhancement preprocessor using gamma correction. The SNeurodCNN architecture takes as input the focal structural atrophy features resulting from segmentation of brain structures captured through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). As a result, the architecture considers only necessary CNN components, which comprises of two downsampling convolutional blocks and two fully connected layers, for achieving the desired classification task, and utilises regularisation techniques to regularise learnable parameters. Leveraging mid-sagittal and para-sagittal brain image viewpoints from the Alzheimer's disease neuroimaging initiative (ADNI) dataset, our framework demonstrated exceptional performance. The para-sagittal viewpoint achieved 97.8% accuracy, 97.0% specificity, and 98.5% sensitivity, while the mid-sagittal viewpoint offered deeper insights with 98.1% accuracy, 97.2% specificity, and 99.0% sensitivity. Model analysis revealed the ability of SNeurodCNN to capture the structural dynamics of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD in the frontal lobe, occipital lobe, cerebellum, temporal, and parietal lobe, suggesting its potential as a brain structural change digi-biomarker for early AD diagnosis. The illicit traffic of cultural goods remains a persistent global challenge, despite the proliferation of comprehensive legislative frameworks developed to address and prevent cultural property crimes. Online platforms, especially social media and e-commerce, have facilitated illegal trade and pose significant challenges for law enforcement agencies. To address this issue, the European project SIGNIFICANCE was born, with the aim of combating illicit traffic of Cultural Heritage (CH) goods. This paper presents the outcomes of the project, introducing a user-friendly platform that employs Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep learning (DL) to prevent and combat illicit activities. The platform enables authorities to identify, track, and block illegal activities in the online domain, thereby aiding successful prosecutions of criminal networks. Moreover, it incorporates an ontology-based approach, providing comprehensive information on the cultural significance, provenance, and legal status of identified artefacts. This enables users to access valuable contextual information during the scraping and classification phases, facilitating informed decision-making and targeted actions. To accomplish these objectives, computationally intensive tasks are executed on the HPC CyClone infrastructure, optimizing computing resources, time, and cost efficiency. Notably, the infrastructure supports algorithm modelling and training, as well as web, dark web and social media scraping and data classification. Preliminary results indicate a 10–15% increase in the identification of illicit artifacts, demonstrating the platform's effectiveness in enhancing law enforcement capabilities. Blinding eye diseases are often related to changes in retinal structure, which can be detected by analysing retinal blood vessels in fundus images. However, existing techniques struggle to accurately segment these delicate vessels. Although deep learning has shown promise in medical image segmentation, its reliance on specific operations can limit its ability to capture crucial details such as the edges of the vessel. This paper introduces LMBiS-Net, a lightweight convolutional neural network designed for the segmentation of retinal vessels. LMBiS-Net achieves exceptional performance with a remarkably low number of learnable parameters (only 0.172 million). The network used multipath feature extraction blocks and incorporates bidirectional skip connections for the information flow between the encoder and decoder. In addition, we have optimised the efficiency of the model by carefully selecting the number of filters to avoid filter overlap. This optimisation significantly reduces training time and improves computational efficiency. To assess LMBiS-Net's robustness and ability to generalise to unseen data, we conducted comprehensive evaluations on four publicly available datasets: DRIVE, STARE, CHASE_DB1, and HRF The proposed LMBiS-Net achieves significant performance metrics in various datasets. It obtains sensitivity values of 83.60%, 84.37%, 86.05%, and 83.48%, specificity values of 98.83%, 98.77%, 98.96%, and 98.77%, accuracy (acc) scores of 97.08%, 97.69%, 97.75%, and 96.90%, and AUC values of 98.80%, 98.82%, 98.71%, and 88.77% on the DRIVE, STARE, CHEASE_DB, and HRF datasets, respectively. In addition, it records F1 scores of 83.43%, 84.44%, 83.54%, and 78.73% on the same datasets. Our evaluations demonstrate that LMBiS-Net achieves high segmentation accuracy (acc) while exhibiting both robustness and generalisability across various retinal image datasets. Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression is currently used in the clinic to assess eligibility for immune-checkpoint inhibitors via the tumor proportion score (TPS), but its efficacy is limited by high interobserver variability. Multiple papers have presented systems for the automatic quantification of TPS, but none report on the task of determining cell-level PD-L1 expression and often reserve their evaluation to a single PD-L1 monoclonal antibody or clinical center. In this paper, we report on a deep learning algorithm for detecting PD-L1 negative and positive tumor cells at a cellular level and evaluate it on a cell-level reference standard established by six readers on a multi-centric, multi PD-L1 assay dataset. This reference standard also provides for the first time a benchmark for computer vision algorithms. In addition, in line with other papers, we also evaluate our algorithm at slide-level by measuring the agreement between the algorithm and six pathologists on TPS quantification. We find a moderately low interobserver agreement at cell-level level (mean reader-reader F1 score = 0.68) which our algorithm sits slightly under (mean reader-AI F1 score = 0.55), especially for cases from the clinical center not included in the training set. Despite this, we find good AI-pathologist agreement on quantifying TPS compared to the interobserver agreement (mean reader-reader Cohen's kappa = 0.54, 95% CI 0.26–0.81, mean reader-AI kappa = 0.49, 95% CI 0.27—0.72). In conclusion, our deep learning algorithm demonstrates promise in detecting PD-L1 expression at a cellular level and exhibits favorable agreement with pathologists in quantifying the tumor proportion score (TPS). When traditional EEG signals are collected based on the Nyquist theorem, long-time recordings of EEG signals will produce a large amount of data. At the same time, limited bandwidth, end-to-end delay, and memory space will bring great pressure on the effective transmission of data. The birth of compressed sensing alleviates this transmission pressure. However, using an iterative compressed sensing reconstruction algorithm for EEG signal reconstruction faces complex calculation problems and slow data processing speed, limiting the application of compressed sensing in EEG signal rapid monitoring systems. As such, this paper presents a non-iterative and fast algorithm for reconstructing EEG signals using compressed sensing and deep learning techniques. This algorithm uses the improved residual network model, extracts the feature information of the EEG signal by one-dimensional dilated convolution, directly learns the nonlinear mapping relationship between the measured value and the original signal, and can quickly and accurately reconstruct the EEG signal. The method proposed in this paper has been verified by simulation on the open BCI contest dataset. Overall, it is proved that the proposed method has higher reconstruction accuracy and faster reconstruction speed than the traditional CS reconstruction algorithm and the existing deep learning reconstruction algorithm. This paper aims to propose a table tennis target detection (TD) method based on deep learning (DL) and multi-scale feature fusion (MFF) to improve the detection accuracy of the ball in table tennis competition, optimize the training process of athletes, and improve the technical level. In this paper, DL technology is used to improve the accuracy of table tennis TD through MFF guidance. Initially, based on the FAST Region-based Convolutional Neural Network (FAST R-CNN), the TD is carried out in the table tennis match. Then, through the method of MFF guidance, different levels of feature information are fused, which improves the accuracy of TD. Through the experimental verification on the test set, it is found that the mean Average Precision (mAP) value of the target detection algorithm (TDA) proposed here reaches 87.3%, which is obviously superior to other TDAs and has higher robustness. Technology offers a lot of potential that is being used to improve the integrity and efficiency of infrastructures. Crack is one of the major concerns that can affect the integrity or usability of any structure. Oftentimes, the use of manual inspection methods leads to delays which can worsen the situation. Automated crack detection has become very necessary for efficient management and inspection of critical infrastructures. Previous research in crack detection employed classification and localization-based models using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNNs). This study suggests and compares the effectiveness of transfer learned DCNNs for crack detection as a classification model and as a feature extractor to overcome this restriction. The main objective of this paper is to present various methods of crack detection on surfaces and compare their performance over 3 different datasets. Experiments conducted in this work are threefold: initially, the effectiveness of 12 transfer learned DCNN models for crack detection is analyzed on three publicly available datasets: SDNET, CCIC and BSD. With an accuracy of 53.40%, ResNet101 outperformed other models on the SDNET dataset. EfficientNetB0 was the most accurate (98.8%) model on the BSD dataset, and ResNet50 performed better with an accuracy of 99.8% on the CCIC dataset. Secondly, two image enhancement methods are employed to enhance the images and are transferred learned on the 12 DCNNs in pursuance of improving the performance of the SDNET dataset. The results from the experiments show that the enhanced images improved the accuracy of transfer-learned crack detection models significantly. Furthermore, deep features extracted from the last fully connected layer of the DCNNs are used to train the Support Vector Machine (SVM). The integration of deep features with SVM enhanced the detection accuracy across all the DCNN-dataset combinations, according to analysis in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. This paper proposes an innovative global solution which is a pioneering work applying automated machine learning algorithms to remarkable precision sparse underwater direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation that views the subaquatic sparse-sampling DOA estimation problem as a classification prediction task. The proposed solution, termed automated multi-layer perceptron discriminative neural network (AutoMPDNN), is built upon a Bayesian optimization framework. AutoMPDNN transforms sparsely sampled time-domain signals into the complex domain, preserving essential components in a one-source single-snapshot scenario. Leveraging Bayesian optimization principles, the algorithm embeds necessary hyperparameters into the loss function, effectively defining it as a maximum likelihood problem using the upper confidence bound function and incorporating sparse signal features. We also explore the model space architecture and introduce variants of AutoMPDNN, denoted as AutoMPDNNs_ln (n = 2,3,4). Through a series of plane wave simulation experiments, it is demonstrated that AutoMPDNN achieves the highest prediction performance for one-source single-snapshot scenarios compared to classical DOA estimation algorithms that incorporate sparse representation approaches, as well as contemporary deep learning DOA methods under varying conditions. Vehicle identification systems are vital components that enable many aspects of contemporary life, such as safety, trade, transit, and law enforcement. They improve community and individual well-being by increasing vehicle management, security, and transparency. These tasks entail locating and extracting license plates from images or video frames using computer vision and machine learning techniques, followed by recognizing the letters or digits on the plates. This paper proposes a new license plate detection and recognition method based on the deep learning YOLO v8 method, image processing techniques, and the OCR technique for text recognition. For this, the first step was the dataset creation, when gathering 270 images from the internet. Afterward, CVAT (Computer Vision Annotation Tool) was used to annotate the dataset, which is an open-source software platform made to make computer vision tasks easier to annotate and label images and videos. Subsequently, the newly released Yolo version, the Yolo v8, has been employed to detect the number plate area in the input image. Subsequently, after extracting the plate the k-means clustering algorithm, the thresholding techniques, and the opening morphological operation were used to enhance the image and make the characters in the license plate clearer before using OCR. The next step in this process is using the OCR technique to extract the characters. Eventually, a text file containing only the character reflecting the vehicle's country is generated. To ameliorate the efficiency of the proposed approach, several metrics were employed, namely precision, recall, F1-Score, and CLA. In addition, a comparison of the proposed method with existing techniques in the literature has been given. Initially, a robust algorithm is employed to detect the billiard balls using color space transformation and thresholding techniques. This is followed by determining the position of the billiard table through strategic cropping and isolation of the primary table area. To achieve this, a modified convolutional neural network is utilized, leveraging the Xception network optimized by an innovative algorithm known as the Improved Chaos African Vulture Optimization (ICAVO) algorithm. The ICAVO algorithm enhances the Xception network's performance by efficiently exploring the solution space and avoiding local optima. The results of this study demonstrate a significant enhancement in recognition accuracy, with the Xception/ICAVO model achieving remarkable recognition rates for both solid and striped balls. Accurate power load forecasting is crucial for the sustainable operation of smart grids. However, the complexity and uncertainty of load, along with the large-scale and high-dimensional energy information, present challenges in handling intricate dynamic features and long-term dependencies. This paper proposes a computational approach to address these challenges in short-term power load forecasting and energy information management, with the goal of accurately predicting future load demand. The study introduces a hybrid method that combines multiple deep learning models, the Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) is employed to capture long-term dependencies in time series data, while the Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) efficiently learns patterns and features in load data. Additionally, the attention mechanism is incorporated to automatically focus on the input components most relevant to the load prediction task, further enhancing model performance. According to the experimental evaluation conducted on four public datasets, including GEFCom2014, the proposed algorithm outperforms the baseline models on various metrics such as prediction accuracy, efficiency, and stability. Notably, on the GEFCom2014 dataset, FLOP is reduced by over 48.8%, inference time is shortened by more than 46.7%, and MAPE is improved by 39%. Over the past decades, the software industry has expanded to include all industries. Since stakeholders tend to use it to get their work done, software houses seek to estimate the cost of the software, which includes calculating the effort, time, and resources required. Although many researchers have worked to estimate it, the prediction accuracy results are still inaccurate and unstable. Estimating it requires a lot of effort. Therefore, there is an urgent need for modern techniques that contribute to cost estimation. This paper seeks to present a model based on deep learning and machine learning techniques by combining convolutional neural networks (CNN) and the particle swarm algorithm (PSO) in the context of time series forecasting, which enables feature extraction and automatic tuning of hyperparameters, which reduces the manual effort of selecting parameters and contributes to fine-tuning. The use of PSO also enhances the robustness and generalization ability of the CNN model and its iterative nature allows for efficient discovery of hyperparameter similarity. The model was trained and tested on 13 different benchmark datasets and evaluated through six metrics: mean absolute error (MAE), mean square error (MSE), mean magnitude relative error (MMRE), root mean square error (RMSE), median magnitude relative error (MdMRE), and prediction accuracy (PRED). Comparative results reveal that the performance of the proposed model is better than other methods for all datasets and evaluation criteria. The prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) has surged in recent years, making it the foremost cause of mortality among humans. The Electrocardiogram (ECG), being one of the pivotal diagnostic tools for cardiovascular diseases, is increasingly gaining prominence in the field of machine learning. However, prevailing neural network models frequently disregard the spatial dimension features inherent in ECG signals. In this paper, we propose an ECG autoencoder network architecture incorporating low-rank attention (LRA-autoencoder). It is designed to capture potential spatial features of ECG signals by interpreting the signals from a spatial perspective and extracting correlations between different signal points. Additionally, the low-rank attention block (LRA-block) obtains spatial features of electrocardiogram signals through singular value decomposition, and then assigns these spatial features as weights to the electrocardiogram signals, thereby enhancing the differentiation of features among different categories. Finally, we utilize the ResNet-18 network classifier to assess the performance of the LRA-autoencoder on both the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia and PhysioNet Challenge 2017 datasets. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method demonstrates superior classification performance. In recent years, the growth spurt of medical imaging data has led to the development of various machine learning algorithms for various healthcare applications. The MedMNISTv2 dataset, a comprehensive benchmark for 2D biomedical image classification, encompasses diverse medical imaging modalities such as Fundus Camera, Breast Ultrasound, Colon Pathology, Blood Cell Microscope etc. Highly accurate classifications performed on these datasets is crucial for identification of various diseases and determining the course of treatment. This research paper presents a comprehensive analysis of four subsets within the MedMNISTv2 dataset: BloodMNIST, BreastMNIST, PathMNIST and RetinaMNIST. Each of these selected datasets is of diverse data modalities and comes with various sample sizes, and have been selected to analyze the efficiency of the model against diverse data modalities. The study explores the idea of assessing the Vision Transformer Model's ability to capture intricate patterns and features crucial for these medical image classification and thereby transcend the benchmark metrics substantially. The methodology includes pre-processing the input images which is followed by training the ViT-base-patch16-224 model on the mentioned datasets. The performance of the model is assessed using key metrices and by comparing the classification accuracies achieved with the benchmark accuracies. With the assistance of ViT, the new benchmarks achieved for BloodMNIST, BreastMNIST, PathMNIST and RetinaMNIST are 97.90%, 90.38%, 94.62% and 57%, respectively.
