This report presents an investigation into the use of carbon paper electrodes prepared from chitosan-adhered graphene magnetite nanoparticles for the analysis of Cr(VI). The preparation and storage of carbon paper electrodes is a simple process, and these electrodes are easier to replace than electrodes modified by more conventional methods. The electrochemical detection of Cr(VI) using square wave adsorption cathodic dissolution voltammetry (SWAdCSV) with high selectivity and sensitivity, as well as the optimum conditions for the preparation of the electrodes and the electrode parameters affecting the SWAdCSV signal, were the main points of focus of the investigation. Cr(VI) was detected linearly in the range of 4-40 μg L-1 with a detection limit of 2.84 μg L-1. The electrode output precision, calculated as %RSD, was 7.16% (n = 6), and this was the measurement used for the detection of Cr(VI) in standard and test samples with recoveries between 89% and 114%. Selective enrichment of La(III) by green material as an industrial raw material is of great research interest. In this study, the selective interaction between P and La(III) was utilized, and waste paper (WP) modified with phytic acid (PA) was used to adsorb La(III) from water using a simple one-pot method. The adsorption capacity was 237.23 mg g−1 (30 °C, pH = 5, initial concentration of 200 mg L−1). The equilibrium isotherm fitted the Langmuir isotherm model well. The adsorption equilibrium was reached after 15 min. The adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, indicating that the adsorption mechanism of the material towards La(III) is single-layer chemisorption. Employing a one-pot Schiff-base condensation approach, the derivative "cholyl hydrazide Schiff base of phenothiazine" (ChHSB-PTZ) based on cholic acid has been synthesized and characterized via standard procedures. ChHSB-PTZ demonstrates exceptional sensitivity towards Sn(II) metal ion detection through fluorescence "turn-off" behavior based on chelation-enhanced fluorescence quenching (CHEQ) even in the presence of various cations and anions. Through modified Stern–Volmer and Stern–Volmer graph analyses, the binding constant (Ka) and limit of detection (LOD) were found to be 2.8 × 1010 M−1 and 2.2 nM, respectively. A 1 : 1 stoichiometry between ChHSB-PTZ and the Sn(II) metal ion was found via Job's plot. Moreover, the distribution of electronic states in the ChHSB-PTZ Schiff base and the sensing mechanism (CHEQ) were clarified through the use of 1H NMR titration spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. ChHSB-PTZ test paper strips are developed as an essential tool to improve the analytical applicability of the device and enable the rapid, accurate, and affordable detection of Sn(II) metal ions in environmental analysis. The water-soluble bromophenoxy-substituted naphthalimide derivative 1 and its copolymer P1 with acrylamide were synthesized and the photophysical properties of their host–guest complexes with cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8]) were studied. Notably, the host–guest complex CB[8]·1 showed long-lived RTP on filter paper and demonstrated a humidity response, making it suitable for use as an encryption ink. "Waste" is "wealth": the transformation of biomass waste into high value-added substances holds significant environmental and economic importance. In our work, orange peel was effectively transformed into valuable fluorescent carbon quantum dots (CQDs) by solvothermal treatment. The resultant CQDs displayed favorable dispersion and a mean particle size of 3.14 ± 0.71 nm. Moreover, these CQDs exhibited a characteristic excitation-dependent fluorescence behavior, which can produce the maximum emission wavelength at 506 nm with excitation at 400 nm. Upon the introduction of permanganate (MnO4−), the fluorescence intensity of CQDs diminished gradually caused by the inner filter effect (IFE) as well as the static quenching effect (SQE). The results revealed that the CQDs can serve as a fluorescent probe, which possessed high performance in terms of sensitivity for quantitative analysis of MnO4−, boasting a low detection limit of 3.31 μM. Subsequently, the application of this fluorescent probe in actual water samples was further explored, resulting in a recovery rate between 98.18% and 101.69%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranging from 1.85% to 2.68%, which was highly satisfactory. The portable paper-based sensor, fabricated by depositing CQDs onto filter paper, is capable of quantitatively and visually detecting MnO4− in combination with a smartphone, thus providing a rapid on-site detection tool for MnO4−. As far as we know, this study provides the inaugural account of a smartphone-based portable sensor for visual determination of MnO4− by using biomass waste based CQDs, suggesting its immense potential for real-time monitoring applications. It is significant to develop low-cost and highly efficient electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) via electrochemical water splitting. Herein, we constructed P-doped NiCo2S4 nanowire arrays on carbon fiber paper (NiCo2S4−xPx/CFP) as a HER electrocatalyst in both acidic and alkaline media. Benefitting from P doping into NiCo2S4, the as-prepared NiCo2S4−xPx/CFP exhibits low HER overpotentials of 80 and 132 mV in acidic and alkaline media at a cathodic current density of 10 mA cm−2, respectively, which are far superior to counterparts of NiCo2S4 nanowire arrays on the carbon fiber paper (NiCo2S4/CFP). Meanwhile, the NiCo2S4−xPx/CFP presents excellent HER stability of 20 hours in acidic and alkaline media. From the results of density functional theory calculations, P doping can not only optimize the hydrogen adsorption energetics on each kind of atomic site of catalysts, but also strengthen the H2O molecule binding ability on the catalyst surface for the alkaline HER and favor kinetics of hydrogen adsorption and H2 formation on the catalyst surface for the acidic HER, eventually improving overall HER performances. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the quality of 13 batches of rice and 17 batches of paddy. Differential scanning calorimetry curves, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet spectroscopy and electrochemical curves of 30 batches of rice and paddy were collected, and this paper utilized the quantitative fingerprints evaluated by using the systematic quantitative fingerprinting method, macro qualitative similarity (S m) and macro quantitative similarity (P m) to reflect the internal differences of the samples. A new quality assessment method was explored to quantify the obtained fingerprint profiles and to compare the correlation between the original fingerprints and the quantum fingerprints using a t-test. As one of the effective methods for hydrogen production, water electrolysis has been widely studied. However, the high overpotential challenge faced by the anode and the limitation of the electron transfer rate in this process significantly inhibit the efficiency of hydrogen production, which has become the main obstacle to overcome in the current research. The use of thermodynamically more favorable organic compounds to oxidize at the anode instead of traditional water oxidation (OER) is an effective strategy to optimize the process of electrolytic hydrogen production. In this paper, Ni3S2 catalysts co-doped with non-noble metals Li and Mn were prepared on nickel foam and used for the glycerol oxidation reaction (GOR) coupled with the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In alkaline solution, Li, Mn–Ni3S2@NF exhibits good GOR and HER performance. Specifically, overpotentials of 1.58 V vs. RHE and 0.54 V vs. RHE are required to reach a current density of 200 mA cm−2, respectively, and the catalytic performance of the material remains good after a long-term test. Li, Mn–Ni3S2@NF as a bifunctional catalytic material oxidizes glycerol to formate, and its faradaic efficiency (FE) is as high as 91%, and the volume of hydrogen production is close to the theoretical value. A novel 3D luminescent metal–organic framework (MOF) denoted as [Eu(BTA)0.5(H2BTA)0.5(H2O)]n (Cj-2) has been constructed from a π-conjugated ligand with a tetracarboxylate group, 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid (BTA), via solvothermal synthesis. Structural analysis reveals that the Cj-2 framework is composed of tetranuclear secondary building units (SBUs) containing uncoordinated carbonyl groups which provide feasible recognition sites to interact with analytes. Cj-2 shows a trinodal (4,6,10)-connected 3D topological network consisting of tetranuclear SBUs. Cj-2 displays outstanding potential as a luminescent sensor for detecting o-NP and Cd2+ in DMF suspension, with remarkable sensitivity and selectivity through the luminescence quenching effect. Cj-2 displays excellent luminescence quenching behaviour in the presence of other competing interfering analytes and can be recycled at least four times for sensing o-NP and Cd2+. For Cd2+ ions, it is the host–guest interactions and for the nitroaromatic compounds, it is the competitive absorption of excitation energy and the electron transfer mechanism that are the probable mechanisms for such sensing processes. Moreover, visual fluorescent test papers based on Cj-2 were assembled and employed to selectively detect nitroaromatic compounds and metal ions. Graphitic carbon nitride (gCN) has shown great potential in photocatalysis. Developing suitable cocatalysts is a critical way to enhance gCN's photocatalytic performance. In this paper cobalt–nickel bimetallic phosphide (CoNiP) was used as a cocatalyst to modify gCN. A gCN/CoNiP composite was successfully prepared by a simple hydrothermal method. XRD, XPS, SEM, UV-vis DRS, and PL characterization studies showed that a Schottky junction-like structure was constructed between gCN and CoNiP, which intensified the visible light response, enhanced the charge transfer rate and prohibited the recombination of photogenerated carriers, thus significantly improving gCN photocatalytic activity. Under simulated sunlight, the removal efficiency of methylene blue (10 mg L−1) was 97.8% by 120 min of irradiation, 44.6% higher than that of gCN. Manganese dioxide is attractive for energy storage but still needs to be combined with highly conductive materials to improve its electrochemical properties. In this paper, δ-MnO2/GNS composites with three-dimensional structures were synthesized by anchoring hydrangea-like δ-MnO2 on graphene substrates. Physicochemical analysis shows that δ-MnO2 is uniformly anchored on the graphene surface, and adjacent hydrangea-like δ-MnO2 self-assembles to build a three-dimensional conductive network, and this special structure not only provides abundant surface active sites but also more fast channels for electron transport during electrochemical reactions. The optimized composite (δ-MnO2/GNS-1.8) exhibited excellent electrochemical performance with a high specific capacitance of 326.6 F g−1 at a current density of 0.2 A g−1 and a cycling performance of 97.1%. Asymmetric supercapacitors assembled with δ-MnO2/GNS and activated carbon (AC) exhibited energy densities up to 42.2 W h kg−1 at a power density of 196.8 W kg−1. In this paper, the geometric configuration, electronic properties, and optical characteristics of an InS/GaTe heterojunction have been computed using the foundational principles of density functional theory. The analysis indicates that when the interlayer distance is 3.88 Å, the binding energy is the most negative, indicating that the structure is the most stable. The bandgap of the two monolayers is larger than that of the heterojunction, which makes the photogenerated electrons of the heterojunction more easily excited. The InS/GaTe heterojunction is a type-II heterojunction that enhances the efficient dissociation of electron–hole pairs. In addition, the InS/GaTe heterojunction demonstrates strong absorption of ultraviolet light, rendering it suitable for applications in ultraviolet detectors and related fields. Furthermore, the bandgap electron transfer direction of the InS/GaTe heterojunction can be controlled by applying electrical force and mechanical pressure. The optical absorption coefficient of the InS/GaTe heterojunction can be adjusted to modify its optical properties. The degree of ease of use and the readily observable signals associated with the detection process are critical factors in determining the success of a detection strategy. Considering this perspective, we report the detection of phosgene by modulating the photophysical characteristics of a molecular probe, Xanth-NH2. The probe is non-emissive in nature, but the presence of phosgene facilitates the probe's radiative decay, which enables phosgene detection via fluorescence turn-on change. The fluorescence changes vary linearly with phosgene concentration, contributing to a nanomolar level detection limit for phosgene. Additionally, under a controlled set of conditions, the half-time for the reaction of Xanth-NH2 with phosgene is 68 s. To demonstrate the potential application of Xanth-NH2, probe-loaded paper strips or silica gel were developed as an economic tool for the detection of phosgene in vapor or solution phase. O-Vanillin derived Schiff base 1-[(E)-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene) amino]-4-methylthiosemicarbazone (VCOH) has been synthesized for colorimetric and fluorescence chemosensors towards PO43− ions. A fluorescence 'turn-on' sensing mechanism of VCOH towards PO43− ions has been explained due to emission from the VCO− ion formed upon transfer of the phenolic proton of VCOH to a PO43− ion. The 1 : 1 stoichiometry between the VCOH probe and PO43− ion is confirmed by Job's plot based on UV-vis titration. The limit of detection (LOD) of VCOH towards PO43− ions is found to be 0.49 nM. The PO43− ion sensing property of probe VCOH has been applied to prepare portable paper strips and for the analysis of real water samples. Fluorescence 'turn-on' and 'turn-off' responses of VCOH towards PO43−and H+ respectively have been used to construct a molecular logic gate. Fluorescence based sensing studies in which the concentration of analytes is adjusted over a broad range can be both laborious and expensive. In order to address these challenges, we have utilized various soft computing methods, including artificial neural networks (ANN), fuzzy logic (FL), and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS), to appropriately model the 'turn-on' and 'turn-off' behaviors of the VCOH probe upon addition of PO43− and H+ respectively as well as to predict the experimental sensing data. The chemistry of silver nanoparticles incorporating a covalently bound complexing agent is dealt with in this paper. The particles have been obtained by the direct reaction of silver ions with the ranelate species obtained from an old antiosteoporotic drug. The ranelate ion exhibits a thiophene structure encompassing a cyanonitrile and two carboxylic groups, in addition to a chelating nitrilebis(diacetate) moiety. Through metal substitution and redox processes involving decarboxylation at the C5-thiophene position, chocolate-brown silver-ranelate nanoparticles (AgNP@Ran) have been generated. As corroborated by the XPS and Raman data, the nanoparticles are strongly stabilized by Ag–C bonds and are inert to substitution. This allows the exploration of their coordination chemistry in the presence of transition and rare earth metal ions, under the influence of plasmonics and the SERS effect. Due to the small nanoparticle size and the high energy spectral band (415 nm), although no significant SERS response has been detected in the excitation range of 488–785 nm, a gradual enhancement has been observed over time, at 488 nm. This observation was ascribed to the laser-induced aggregation of the silver nanoparticles, leading to the SERS effect. The silver ranelate nanoparticles exhibited dramatic changes in their optical and SERS spectra in the presence of transition metal ions such as Cu(II), forming stable complexes in aqueous solution. In the case of Tb3+ ions, instead of the SERS effect, an enhanced fluorescence emission was observed, involving energy transfer from the ranelate ligand to the terbium 4f levels. In this way, silver ranelate nanoparticles make interesting optical sensors for metal ions and can be useful as fluorescent/plasmonic markers for chemical and biological systems. Cell phones, tablets, laptop computers, and many other consumer technology gadgets use lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The characteristics of lithium batteries include a high specific energy, great efficiency, and a long life. Owing to their distinctive qualities, lithium batteries are now the preferred power source for the electronics industry, with annual production in billions of units. This paper discusses several safety hazards introduced by mechanical, thermal, and electrical abuse as well as cutting-edge fixes for these difficulties. This review sought to achieve a deeper understanding of the safety risks of lithium-ion batteries depending on materials chemistry together with a positive response to these problems. This review discusses different methods for enhancing cell safety, including cooling, balancing, and cell chemistry. It then examines current safety regulations and associated testing procedures. In this paper, nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) were prepared by using citric acid as a carbon source and ethylenediamine as a nitrogen source. Then, N-CQDs were added into a deep eutectic solvent (DES) synthesized from acrylamide (AM), urea (U), and choline chloride (ChCl). The N-CQDs/P(AM-U-ChCl) composite hydrogels were prepared by light polymerization. The chemical composition and microstructure of N-CQDs/P(AM-U-ChCl) composite hydrogels were characterized in detail using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). This article further explored the influence of the content of N-CQDs on the mechanical properties, adsorption properties, and detection performance of the composite hydrogel. The results showed that the composite hydrogels exhibited the best mechanical properties when N-CQDs' content was 0.3 wt%. The adsorption performance of N-CQDs/P(AM-U-ChCl) composite hydrogels for Fe3+ was significantly enhanced due to the carboxyl groups contained in N-CQDs. In detecting tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), the composite hydrogel showed a good linear correlation in the concentration range of 0–200 mg L−1, and the detection limit of TBHQ reached 0.849 mg L−1. In this paper, a NiAl-LDH with the characteristic structure of a hydrotalc-like compound was applied as a carrier in a two-step hydrothermal process, and a MnCdS/In2S3/NiAl-LDH composite material was successfully prepared by loading MnCdS and In2S3 on the flower spherical-like surface of NiAl-LDH. The combination of NiAl-LDH with In2S3 and MnCdS made the band gap smaller and the light absorption range larger, thus increasing the utilization rate of light. 50% MnCdS/In2S3/NiAl-LDH composites had the best photoinduced charge separation and highest surface enrichment of photogenerated electrons. In the degradation experiment of crystal violet (CV), 50% MnCdS/In2S3/NiAl-LDH composites showed superior photocatalytic degradation efficiency (>98.5%) under full spectrum light. Furthermore, the applicability and universality of photocatalysts were studied by observing the degradation of CV by MnCdS/In2S3/NiAl-LDH composites under different conditions. In addition, the composites showed excellent hydrogen production capacity in the photolysis of water, in which hydrogen production within 8 hours was about 7661.51 μmol g−1. By combining the results of active species capture experiments, density functional theory (DFT) calculations and photoelectrochemical experiments, the possible mechanism of double S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysis among NiAl-LDH, In2S3 and MnCdS was inferred, which is one of the main reasons for the enhancement of photocatalytic activity. In this paper, M88/BCB Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts were synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method. A series of characterization analyses showed that the introduction of iron-based MOF material M88 with mixed valence (Fe2+/Fe3+) increased not only the specific surface area of BCB, which was 2.2 times higher than that of BiOCl0.1Br0.9 solid solution, but also the existence of Fe2+/Fe3+ redox centers promoting the in situ photoFenton-like reaction, which could generate more ˙O2− and ˙OH. In addition, the introduction of M88 further enhances the visible light response capability of BCB and the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers. Under visible light for 120 min, 10% M88/BCB can degrade 89.74% of TC, which is 2.1 times and 1.6 times higher than that of M88 and BCB, respectively. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have received widespread attention for their large specific surface area, porous structure, and tunable particle size. MOFs can be utilized as precursors to prepare structurally diverse bimetallic oxides, which exhibit outstanding electrochemical properties as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). This paper introduces the study of MOF-derived bimetallic oxides as anode materials for LIBs, focusing on the application of MOF-derived manganese-, cobalt-, iron-, and vanadium-based bimetallic oxides in LIBs. MOF-derived bimetallic oxides, with the advantages of tunable compositions and nano-structures, are capable of further contributing to the enhancement of electrochemical performances. Due to the disruption of symmetry in the vertical direction, two-dimensional Janus materials exhibit unique properties, making them promising for a wide range of applications. In this paper, we conducted first principles calculations to investigate several novel Janus SeMoZAZ′ (A = Si, Ge; Z, Z′ = N, P, As; Z ≠ Z′) monolayers. Our research revealed that 10 out of 12 structures demonstrate excellent stability and mechanical properties. Employing the HSE06 functional, 7 out of 10 stable structures displayed semiconductor properties, while the remaining three structures exhibited metallic properties. Among the semiconductor structures, calculations showed a significant piezoelectric coefficient. Notably, SeMoPSiN, SeMoAsSiP, and SeMoAsGeP monolayers displayed favorable band edge positions, wide light absorption, high solar-to-hydrogen efficiency (up to 31.55%), and larger hole carrier mobility in the y-direction (8171.06 cm2 s−1 V−1). We further investigated the effect of biaxial strain on SeMoZAZ′ monolayers, and interestingly, the SeMoPGeN monolayer demonstrated the capability to undergo photocatalytic water splitting under biaxial strain. The development of effective and selective catalysts is the key to improving the multi-electron transfer nitrate reduction reaction (NO3−RR) to ammonia (NH3). Herein, we prepared a copper–tin bimetallic alloy using the dynamic hydrogen bubble template electrodeposition technique for electrocatalytic NO3− reduction to NH3. The NH3 yield rate and the faraday efficiency were up to 293.12 μmol h−1 cm−2 and 78.57% at −1.2 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in 0.1 M Na2SO4 (containing 0.01 M NaNO3) electrolyte. People's increasing demand for fossil fuels not only leads to environmental pollution but also highlights their non-renewable nature. Therefore, the urgency of developing renewable energy sources is evident. Tree branches and leaves undergo cycles of growth and decay with the changing seasons, showcasing their renewable potential. Despite this, they remain underutilized as new energy materials, particularly in the realm of high-energy-density lithium batteries. While this paper did not directly explore the utilization of various branches and leaves as raw materials for lithium–sulfur battery (LSB) cathodes, it revealed promising findings: they not only demonstrate good battery capacity but also boast considerable cycle life. The carbonized material from the leaves of Acer buergerianum can be used as the electrode of LSBs and could achieve 318.8 mA h g−1 at 4C and a decay rate of only 0.03% at 1C for 400 cycles., respectively. It is imperative to solve the problem of the electrolytic efficiency of chlorine evolution in extremely dilute chlorine-containing solutions for electrochemical advanced oxidation processes, electrochemical antifouling and chlorine-containing disinfectant preparation. In this paper, an IrO2–Ta2O5 electrode is modified using SnOx, and the activity and selectivity of the chlorine evolution reaction (CER) are successfully improved. The modification of SnOx changes the electronic structure of IrO2–Ta2O5, thus affecting the electrochemical reaction process and mechanism. Compared with the CER activity of the IrO2–Ta2O5 electrode, the CER activity of the SnOx@IrO2–Ta2O5 electrode is increased, whereas the OER activity is decreased. At a current density of 50 mA cm−2, the potential difference between the CER and OER of the SnOx@IrO2–Ta2O5-3 electrode is 254 mV, which is 89 mV higher than that of the IrO2–Ta2O5 electrode. This proves that the selectivity of the CER at the SnOx@IrO2–Ta2O5 electrode has been improved. Due to the low concentration of chloride ions, the current efficiency of the IrO2–Ta2O5 electrode is only 10.7%. The current efficiency of the SnOx@IrO2–Ta2O5-1(2,3) electrode increases to 23.6%, 36.7% and 49.6%, respectively. For the IrO2–Ta2O5 electrode, its rate-determining step (RDS) is the second electron transfer. However, for the SnOx@IrO2–Ta2O5-3 electrode, its RDS is electrochemical desorption. It can be inferred that the modification of SnOx can accelerate the electrochemical desorption of adsorbed Cl. In addition, the application of the SnOx@IrO2–Ta2O5 electrode in the preparation of AEW is investigated. This paper evaluates the effect of different synthesis conditions on the structural properties of the porous metal–organic frameworks MIL-53(Al) produced by the microwave method at different reaction temperatures (120, 150, and 180 °C) and times (30, 180 min). The morphologies, chemical contents and crystal structures of the synthesized samples were determined by the SEM-EDS and XRD methods, respectively. The structural properties of MIL-53(Al)s were analysed according to isotherm data obtained from nitrogen gas adsorption by applying the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), Langmuir, Dubinin–Radushkevich (DR), t-plot, Barrett–Joyner–Halenda (BJH) and quenched solid density functional theory (QSDFT) methods, as well as the new numerical clustering-based adsorption analysis (LBET) method, which is a unique numerical method that provides advanced assessment for porous structures. The LBET analysis showed that the MIL-53(Al) sample at a reaction temperature of 180 °C for 30 min has the best adsorption properties, with the highest volume of the first adsorbed layer and the highest value of the energy parameter for higher layers. Due the LBET method, it was possible to evaluate the porous structure of the MIL-53(Al) samples with high precision and reliability, and thus to determine the precise influence of the conditions of their preparation on the formation of their structure. In turn, based on the shapes of the pore size distributions (PSD), the materials analysed have very similar PSD, with only the MIL-35(AL)S1 sample having a significantly lower PSD height. In conclusion, attention was paid to the necessity of complex evaluation of adsorbent properties, taking into account not only their adsorption properties but also their mechanical and functional properties, as well as production costs and the impact of adsorbent production and utilization on the environment. Lipid droplets are important organelles in eukaryotic cells and play an integral role in cellular metabolism. Abnormal changes in intracellular lipid droplets are usually associated with the occurrence of many diseases. Studying the changes in lipid droplet status in cells is of great significance for understanding the regulatory mechanism of intracellular lipid metabolism and the pathogenesis of some related diseases. This paper reports a novel lipid droplet fluorescent probe, LDCN. The D–A–D structure of the probe LDCN brings a good TICT effect, which makes the probe have excellent polarity and viscosity sensitivity. In addition, LDCN has excellent selectivity, good pH stability, and a large Stokes shift (114 nm). LDCN showed good co-localization with commercial lipid droplet dyes in both HeLa cells and tobacco seedling leaf cells. Biomass-derived carbon materials are being increasingly utilized in various fields. This paper reports a facile synthesis method for O/N co-doped hierarchical porous carbon, utilizing the inherent pore structure and high heteroatom content of sesame meal. The O/N co-doped hierarchical porous carbon (SC-120) exhibits a hierarchical pore structure and abundant surface functional groups, the specific surface area reached 1743 m2 g−1, and the O and N element contents were measured at 10.87% and 1.95% respectively. In the three-electrode system, the specific capacitance of SC-120 reached 358.6 F g−1 at a current density of 0.5 A g−1, and a specific capacitance of 262.5 F g−1 is maintained even at a high current density of 30 A g−1. Constructed using SC-120 as the electrode, the symmetrical supercapacitor exhibits a high energy density of 9.23 W h kg−1 at a power density of 100 W kg−1 and excellent cyclic stability of 93.58% capacitance retention rate after 7500 charge–discharge testing. Additionally, SC-120 demonstrates potential for electromagnetic interference shielding, attaining an efficiency of 33.18 dB and a shielding effectiveness of 99.59% within the X-band frequency range of 8.2–12.4 GHz. Hydrogenating CO2 to produce light olefins is a highly promising route for olefin synthesis. However, the premise of achieving a high yield is to develop a catalyst with a high conversion rate, selectivity, and stability. This paper reports a Ca2−xKxFe2O5 catalyst with an CO2 conversion of up to 46%, a light olefin selectivity of 34.59%, and an olefin-alkane molar ratio of 8.31. Ca addition increased the oxygen vacancy concentration and strong basic sites of the catalyst, resulting in improved HCOO* intermediate formation, better CO selectivity, and higher CO2 conversion rates. Meanwhile, the addition of K further enhanced the rate of CO2 conversion while also improving the selectivity of light olefins by promoting C–C coupling. Furthermore, the Ca1.0K1.0Fe2O5 catalyst demonstrated no notable deactivation over a period of 72 h, indicating the strong industrial potential of this catalyst. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The application of hydrogels in the field of wearable flexible sensors has been widely discussed. However, most hydrogels have certain limitations in their mechanical properties, stability and self-recovery, which greatly limits their application in flexible sensors. In this paper, carbon nanotube composite hydrogels with good stability and high tensile properties were prepared by using acrylamide (AM), cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as raw materials in water/glycerol by using a one-pot method. The composite hydrogels were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and their mechanical properties, conductivity and stability were tested. The results show that the composite hydrogel has a higher elongation at break (596.02%) and a higher tensile strength (0.26 MPa) when the content of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) is 1 wt%. This is due to the presence of hydrogen bonds and the electrical conductivity of the composite hydrogels can be improved by adding carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). When 0.06 g carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were added, the conductivity of the composite hydrogel reached 0.244 S m−1, showing good conductivity. In addition, the wearable flexible sensor based on the composite hydrogel had a measurement coefficient of 7.20 (400% strain), and the response time and recovery time of the hydrogel were both 150 ms, which is a short response time and can detect human movement. In addition, flexible sensors based on hydrogels can successfully detect finger and wrist movement changes and show good stability. The widespread use of antibiotics leads to the pollution of the water environment. Photocatalytic technology is considered as an effective way of removing antibiotics from the water environment. In this paper, a semi-embedded CdS/tubular g-C3N4 (CdS/TCN) heterojunction photocatalyst was designed and prepared by hydrothermal, in situ oil bath and thermal polymerization methods. Then Ni nanoparticles were loaded onto the surface of CdS/TCN by an in situ photoreduction method to form high performance photocatalyst Ni–CdS/TCN. The degradation rate of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) by Ni–CdS/TCN-6 was about 1.9 times higher than that of bulk carbon nitride (BCN) under visible light irradiation for 30 min. The high specific surface area, the effective heterojunction and loaded Ni broaden the light absorption range, narrow the band gap and improve the photogenerated carrier separation efficiency and migration rate. Beyond that, loaded Ni also inhibits photocorrosion and improves the stability of the photocatalyst. The present work provides a new way for designing a semi-embedded heterojunction photocatalyst. Deep eutectic solvents (DES) exhibit comparable thermal and chemical stability to ionic liquids, coupled with excellent ionic conductivity. Moreover, they boast a higher degree of safety owing to lower toxicity and increased accessibility. Hence, the utilization of DES in gel preparation emerges as an effective solution to address the challenges associated with the inadequate stability of traditional hydrogels and the heightened toxicity of gels composed of ionic liquids. In this paper, eutectogels with excellent low-temperature sensing properties were prepared by using methacrylic acid (MAA) and pyrrole (Py) as monomers and DES as solvent. The eutectogel exhibits excellent sensing capability, with a gauge factor reaching 5.21. Additionally, DES prepared using choline chloride and urea endows the eutectogel with good freeze resistance, enabling sensing at −20 °C while maintaining stability. Moreover, the eutectogel accurately monitors changes in environmental temperature, providing a promising material for temperature-measuring flexible wearable sensor applications. The strong metal–support interactions (SMSI) between metal and its support have been regarded as a valid approach to enhance the catalytic performance; however, the extent to which exploration of electronic state regulation affects catalytic performance of alcohol oxidation reactions (AOR) has been rarely reported. In this paper, PdAg nanoparticles loaded on a N-doped carbon substrate with controlled nitrogen content (PdAg@NxC, x representing the nitrogen contents) was synthesized through a seeded synthesis strategy for alkaline AOR. Results show that the electronic state of PdAg nanoparticles was significantly modified after nitrogen doping in the carbon support. Experimental and theoretical results indicate that with increasing nitrogen content, the degree of electronic state regulation becomes increasingly significant. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the increased degree of SMSI promotes OH* adsorption on the PdAg surface and weakens the binding between catalyst and CO*. As a result, the PdAg@N15.3C with the highest N content exhibits excellent AOR performance, achieving a MA/SA of 10.8 A mgPd−1/13.2 mA cm−2 and 3.8 A mgPd−1/4.7 mA cm−2 on the EOR and MOR, respectively. Moreover, due to the changes in the adsorption energy of key intermediates on PdAg nanoparticles, the onset oxidation potential of PdAg@N15.3C shows a negative shift of 180 mV compared to PdAg@C as revealed by CO stripping analysis, signifying an increase in the CO tolerance. Our study demonstrates the influence of the SMSI effect between the active center and the support on the catalytic performance for AOR and presents a pathway to achieve high AOR performance through SMSI engineering. High-entropy alloys show broad application prospects in electrocatalysis due to their high catalytic activity, conductivity and structural stability. However, achieving their mild and scalable synthesis still remains a great challenge. This paper reports a strategy for the synthesis of CrFeCoNiRu0.5 high entropy nano-alloy/carbon (termed as CrFeCoNiRu0.5-HENA/C) using a chelate-based ionic liquid. Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II) and Ru(III) were coordinated with salicylic acid ionic liquid to form a viscous metal complex solution, followed by low temperature carbonization and subsequent high temperature annealing. The resulting CrFeCoNiRu0.5- HENA/C consists of a three-dimensional carbon framework and CrFeCoNiRu0.5-HENA nanocrystal. The carbon framework offers high ion/electron conductivity and good affinity with NO3- and CO2 due to the presence of hydrophilic oxygen-containing groups and highly electronegative nitrogen atoms. The CrFeCo-NiRu0.5-HENA nanocrystal has a small size of 52.5 x 1.2 nm, good element homogeneity and high crystallinity. Such a unique structure improves the adsorption capacity towards NO3 - and CO2 and the electrocatalytic activity towards the C-N coupling reaction. The CrFeCoNiRu0.5-HENA/C electrocatalyst exhibits a high urea yield of 35.57 x 0.81 mmol gcatalyst -1 h-1 with a high faradaic efficiency of 21.02-0.77%, which is much better than that of multi-component nano-alloys from Cr, Fe, Co, Ni and Ru. A nanocatalytic antimicrobial gel responsive to the bacterial infection microenvironment (IME) possessing highly specific antimicrobial properties provides an opportunity to address the bacterial drug resistance. However, the pH conditions and low substrate concentration in the IME limit the catalytic antimicrobial efficiency of these agents, resulting in unsatisfactory performance. The reported transition metal peroxide alleviates endogenous substrate insufficiency due to H2O2 self-supplying properties, but still suffers from difficulties of simple synthesis, long-stem storage and lower intrinsic catalytic efficiency responsive to the IME. In this paper, we report for the first time the use of cerium-manganese bimetallic peroxide nanoparticles (CeMnOx) as a nanocatalyst with high pH responsiveness, H2O2 self-supplying properties, multiple ROS-generating activity and synergistic effect-enhanced cascade catalytic reactions for efficient antimicrobial therapy. CeMnOx achieved more than 95% kill rate at 50 mg mL-1 for E. coli and 100 mg mL-1 for S. aureus, which was superior to those of previously reported works. To further improve the availability, nanoparticle-carrying hydrogels with excellent antimicrobial properties were prepared through in situ gelation, thus adapting to a wider range of antimicrobial application scenarios. Epimedium is an essential genus of homologous plants used as medicine and food, which has various pharmacological effects and great utilization value in the market. Currently, research into the quality of Epimedium focuses mainly on species and region identification. However, the harvesting period also influences the quality of Epimedium; this aspect requires further study. In this paper, a systematic method is developed based on high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fingerprint analysis, chemometrics, and network pharmacology methods to compare the quality of Epimedium from two harvest periods. A method is developed using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) to identify fingerprint peaks. Chemical composition analysis is performed using cluster analysis and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA). Ultimately, network pharmacology analysis is employed to forecast the potential effects of compounds associated with standard chromatographic peaks. The fingerprint peaks were identified through LC-MS and corroborated with references. Subsequently, chemometric analysis revealed a distinct division between the HPLC fingerprints of samples from the two harvest periods. This was accomplished by employing cluster analysis and OPLS-DA. Additionally, utilizing the variable impact projection (VIP) obtained from OPLS-DA, a total of seven compounds exhibiting quality discrepancies were identified. Lastly, the network pharmacology analysis indicated that compounds corresponding to typical chromatographic peaks demonstrate therapeutic effects on osteoporosis. Moreover, primary bioactive compounds are identified through degree value screening. This approach is powerful for the quality assessment of Epimedium from different harvesting periods and can also be extensively applied for the quality control of other herbal materials.
