The aim of this research is to investigate the musical interest level of the students taking education in varied Departments of the Universities. General survey model has been used as research design. The study group of the research consists of 105 (61 female, 44 male) spring term students taking education in a state university taking place in Western Black Sea region. ‘Interest Level Scale’ developed by Okay, Gençel Ataman and Kırtak Ad was used in order to evaluate the relevance level of students taking education in varied departments. The obtained data was analysed via Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H tests. Research findings showed that there is statistical significance among the musical interest level of the students taking education in medical, mechanical engineering and department of Turkish language and literature students. Further, while there is no statistical significance among the students in terms of age and grade, there is a statistical significance in terms of gender and high school types. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
