Research shows that there is a significant resources waste in construction, and accordingly lagging in productivity behind the productivity of the global economy and industry in particular. There is also a small number of papers and studies on this waste. On the other hand, a higher productivity level requires small waste of material, energy and other inputs. Therefore, construction companies are deciding to introduce lean as one of the leading methods of waste reduction. This paper deals with the introduction of lean in construction companies in BiH, currently at very low level. Bearing in mind that most construction companies in BiH are small, it concludes that introducing lean and thus reducing the resources waste and increasing productivity and competitiveness requires more information and particularly skills improvements. The paper explains the method of developing the Jackson and Moreland alignment charts, which are used to determine the effective buckling length of load-bearing elements subjected to compressive loading. This paper presents an examination of natural stone to slip resistance. The test is carried out according to the BAS EN 14231:2009 standard. This standard specifies a test method for determining the slip resistance value of the surface of the exposed face on natural stone elements intended to be used for flooring in buildings. The aim of the paper is to present the equipment, auxiliary means, samples and the test procedure. Tests are carried out on stone samples with different finishes. The test surfaces are: cut, polished and flamed. After the tests, the authors analyze and evaluate the obtained results. Based on measurements and research, diagnostics of the condition of a structure aims to provide an answer to the question of what the condition of the structure is, and the necessary steps for reconstruction or rehabilitation. Masonry stone construction is one of the oldest methods of construction of building structures. In spite of that, this type of structures does not have fully defined parameters that influence its behavior. The reason for this is the fact that the properties of masonry stone structures differ depending on the basic material (stone) and binding material (mortar), as well as their combination. The paper presents diagnostics of the condition of masonry structures on the Tabija tower building. Tabija, a low tower for cannons, is a fortification structure from the Ottoman period that is the most completely preserved and was registered for the first time in the city plan from 1717. The structure is in poor condition due to a large number of natural and human factors. The paper will present a detailed visual inspection of the structure, as well as tests conducted in the laboratory and in-situ, the calculation, and decisions and proposals for the rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of the considered building of cultural and historical heritage. This paper is a continuation of papers published 10 years ago, which covered the tests results obtained during the period from 1997 to 2013. The paper presents the test results obtained during the period from 2013 to 2023. Based on scientific methodology, the use of relevant literature as well as laboratory test methods, the authors analyze and evaluate the obtained results of testing natural stone as a basic raw material for the production of dimension stone (DS) and crushed stone aggregate (CSA). Test results are based on applicable test methods. The paper presents natural stone deposits for the production of DS and CSA, as well as the results of testing their physical and mechanical properties as the basic evaluation criteria. This paper presents the freshwater limestones, from tenelija and (Mostar) miljevina, which are intercalated in the Mukoba deposit near Mostar, and their "stone cousins," Posušje miljevina and Tomislavgrad muljika. In the process of diagenesis they acquired a specific orientation and structure (especially tenelija), which gave them specific physical properties (small bulk density, high porosity and permeability), which "classic" limestones used in construction do not have, and which were decisive for the choice of this stone for construction of the Old Bridge and other buildings in the wider area of Mostar and in the area of Posubje municipality, but also in other karst poljes of Herzegovina and southwestern Bosnia, in parts of Central Bosnia, and Miljevina near Foča. The second part of the paper presents the so-called built-in (internal) factors that the builders try to avoid in order for freshwater limestones that are built into numerous stone buildings and/or monuments to avoid complex processes of stone changes, or weathering (decay) of stone due to its interaction with various environmental conditions (external factors). It covers the problems and significance of the choice of stone, the method and (often too small) depth of its extraction from the deposit for the construction of significant buildings, insufficiently long aging (storage) after extraction, incorrect installation (stacking) of the stone in relation to its position in the deposit, as well as various errors in stone processing and execution, along with inadequate maintenance. Deposits of dimension stone (hereinafter: DS) are mostly of heterogeneous composition and non-uniform properties. For the purpose of exploring the DS deposit, it is necessary to perform certain mining work in order to collect data for the determination of: existence, position and shape of the bed, quantity and quality, and the conditions for exploitation of DS. The position and shape of the deposit have a crucial influence on DS exploitation conditions. Discontinuities of different positions, dimensions and shapes were formed as a result of dynamic and chemical processes in the rocks. The exploitation of DS from the deposit is performed by obtaining as geometrically regular and as large in size blocks as possible. The DS exploitation should be harmonized with the position and shape of the deposit as well as discontinuities for the purpose of obtaining the highest possible exploitation of stone. However, a special requirement of construction is to obtain the DS, primarily of uniform appearance and other properties. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize mining works for the purpose of obtaining and installing DS of a uniform appearance, as described and shown on several examples in this paper. In order to avoid complex processes of changes, or weathering (decay) of freshwater limestones embedded in numerous buildings and/or monuments due to interaction with various environmental conditions (external factors), builders have always tried to avoid construction (internal) factors, such as the selection of stone, the method and (often too small) depth of its extraction from the deposit for the construction of significant buildings, insufficient aging (storage) after extraction, improper installation (stacking) of stone in relation to its position in the deposit, as well as mistakes in stone processing and execution, in addition to inadequate maintenance. This paper presents the complex processes of changes, or weathering (decay) of freshwater limestones embedded in buildings and monuments as a result of its interaction with various environmental conditions (external factors), such as: the effects of temperature, humidity and quality of air, winds, precipitation, acidic rain, exhaust gases, micro-particles and organisms in the air and water, harmful salts, radiation, soil, biological colonization, along with the destructive action of man. In this process, the aesthetic deterioration of the stone surface is only a secondary problem compared to the destruction of its structure. In the period between the two world wars, Zagreb did not have a general regulatory basis according to which it would develop. Partial regulatory bases are created for individual areas. The western part of the city, which is bounded by the Republic of Austria Street in the east, Ilica in the north, the railway line in the south and the Črnomerca stream in the west, and which was included in the Regulatory basis from 1887 as an extension of the Lower Town, is being built by interpolating the blocks according to several regulatory bases created for individual regions. Industrial complexes, which at that time had priority over military ones, did not leave a significant urban element in the urban sense, and exceptions are rare, such as the administration building of the Factory "Hinka Francka sinovi d.d.". Western part of Zagreb is delineated by the Street of the Republic of Austria on the east side, Ilica Street in the north, the railway line in the south and the Črnomerec stream in the west. It was enclosed into a masterplan for the first time in the Regulatory Plan from 1887 and envisaged as the extension of the Lower Town to the west. In the first Regulatory Plan of Zagreb from 1865, only the square in front of the railway station was located there, while the rest was not encompassed. Since the opening of the first railway station in 1862, industrial plants have been randomly built into the western part of the city. In 1878 the City Waterworks were put into operation and at that occasion the first Waterworks Road (Vodovodna cesta) was staked out, connecting Ilica, the historical roadway in the north (since the 15th century), with the City Waterworks. In Milan Lenuci’s Regulatory Plan from 1907 the western part of the city retained its layout. The only urban planning since the end of the 19th century until the First World War in the western part of Zagreb was implemented with the aim of connecting six army barrack complexes. There is a lot of evidence that people used stone in the construction of buildings, as well as for other purposes in the municipality of Livno throughout history, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds. Ever since the Bronze and Iron Ages, and through the Roman, medieval and Turkish periods, stone has been the main building material in these regions. In recent times, two dimension stone quarries have been opened on the territory of the municipality of Livno, one in the locality of Pogledala, east of the city, and the other in the locality of Kik, located between the Kamešnica and Dinara mountains. Both quarries were opened in massive limestones of Upper Cretaceous age. High-quality limestone with the commercial name "Silit light" is being exploited at the Pogledala quarry, and at the Kik site exploitation has been interrupted, but there is a great possibility of its continuation. Earthquakes are natural events and it is quite easy and beneficial to convert them to wealth (national asset) rather than catastrophe. The earthquakes exert their catastrophe on the buildings/structures founded in soil grounds. There is not even a single case study of an earthquake that caused a catastrophe where structures/buildings are founded on/in a rocky ground that is not proper for agriculture. However, almost all inland earthquakes, particularly strike-slip and normal fault zones ultimately create larger and thicker soil mantle, which is heated by (a) kinetic energy created by particle movements and (b) higher geothermal gradient peculiar to active fault zones. So, people should use fertile soil plains for agriculture and surrounding rocky lands for settlement in accordance with the recommendations of Mother Nature and State Laws and in accordance with the maxim "Love the nature, never challenge it”. This paper presents a research conducted as part of development of the graduation thesis entitled: "Hydraulic numerical analysis of groundwater in the left hinterland of the Mostar hydroelectric power plant dam", which was developed and successfully defended at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Mostar in 2020. The Mostar hydroelectric power plant, in tandem with the Salakovac HPP, levels the flows in the downstream course of the Neretva River. In the area around the embankment and the diaphragm wall, there are indications of filtration deformations of soil, and development of dominant directions of groundwater flows. The paper examines the area of the left hinterland of the Mostar hydroelectric power plant dam in the MAGNET 4 WATER program, and compares the obtained results with the existing verified results from the DHI WASY FEFLOW program as well as the field results. It was concluded that the spatial model is suitable for further research and analyses, e.g. for monitoring groundwater flows in the area, and for the analysis of risks of contaminant transport underground the left hinterland of HPP Mostar. The paper examines the causes of insufficient implementation of public-private partnership projects in the field of road infrastructure. The aim of this paper is to present the possibility of using the public-private partnership concession in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the construction of road infrastructure. The results of the research can be useful to public bodies in implementing the first phase of the life cycle of a public-private partnership project, i.e. in preparing the necessary study documentation, and then selecting potential public-private partnership projects in road infrastructure in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This paper is a continuation of the research on reinforcement of masonry walls using a combination of metal frames and mechanical dampers. This paper analyzes a single metal frame with and without reinforcement with mechanical dampers in order to have a clearer insight into the behavior of individual reinforcement components. It presents an overview of the basic characteristics of mechanical dampers, their configuration and combinations with metal frame, and special emphasis is placed on their earthquake behavior. The results of the numerical analysis for a single metal frame were obtained using two modern software packages, ABAQUS and SAP2000. The globalization of geospatial data and geodetic reference frames is important for the overall development of both national and global economies. In accordance with the needs for defining a general geodetic reference frame, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution "Global Geodetic Reference Frame for Sustainable Development (GGRF)" in 2015. The European Union member states have addressed the issue by adopting joint directives, recommendations and other acts to adapt national laws. Bosnia and Herzegovina and its neighboring countries, non-EU member states, have enacted appropriate legislation and decisions to adapt to the globalization of spatial data and reference frames. Therefore, the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Property Affairs (FGU) has undertaken certain activities in order to establish a new geodetic reference frame through changes in legislation, renewal and establishment of new reference systems and measurements. The paper will discuss the existing geodetic reference frame and the activities of the FGU on the introduction of new geodetic datums and map projections in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH). Limestone breccia of Middle Triassic age from the area of the village of Hreša, 6 km northeast of Sarajevo, was the main dimension stone for the construction of a large number of public and private buildings in Sarajevo from the end of the 15th century until almost the end of the 20th century, especially during the Ottoman Empire and Austro-Hungarian rule. Urbanization and the expansion of the city core created a recognizable, hewn appearance of the red stone surface of the walls, staircases, paved squares and pedestrian areas of Sarajevo. In previous mineralogical petrographic investigations, they have been identified as breccia limestone (intrasparudite), fossiliferous microcrystalline limestone (fossiliferous micrite) and fossiliferous partially lumpy limestone (fossiliferous pelmicrite). Limestone breccias and breccia limestones known under the commercial name "Hreša" are extracted in the Hreša site. The locality belongs to the structural tertiary unit Vučja Luka - Hreša - Ljubogošča (geological map of the Prača area) and D. The abrasion resistance is one of the crucial parameters to consider when evaluating natural stone for use in public infrastructure with light traffic. The assessment and evaluation of abrasion parameters can be carried out according to the EN 14157 standard, using two typical natural stones from different sources in order to compare the necessary parameters. The parameters will be analysed in correlation with other factors in order to find optimizations. The results showed a significant correlation coefficient between the dry sample and water saturation tests. This suggests that the abrasion resistance of natural stone when dry is closely related to its resistance when saturated with water. This information is valuable in selecting appropriate natural stone materials for public infrastructure, as it provides insights into how the materials will perform under different conditions. In public squares, natural stone is often used as paving material because of its durability, resistance to weathering, aesthetics and other parameters. Currently, in some marble quarries, the amount of waste amounts to 80%. The ReValoMur research project aimed to generate the necessary knowledge for the production of a new cementitious material, based on plastic waste from agriculture and waste derived from the extraction and/or transformation of natural stone, as a means of valorization of these industrial sectors in the Region of Murcia, in order to develop an optimal material of a more ecological scale within the productive range, focused on additive manufacturing as a potential technology for the rationalization and reuse of waste, that is, underused resources. Diamond wire saws are indispensable machines for the extraction and processing of dimension stones. The cutting speed, energy consumption and wear rate of the diamond beads are the most important factors in assessing the efficiency of a diamond wire saw. The parameters that influence the efficiency of the diamond wire saw can be divided into controlled and uncontrolled parameters. Uncontrolled parameters cannot be influenced directly and are related to the rock types and their properties such as strength, hardness and abrasiveness. Controlled parameters are related to the operating parameters and technical characteristics of the machine. The energy consumption and the service life of the diamond wire are directly related to the characteristics of the machine and the design of the diamond wire, such as the power of the drive motor, the diameter of the drive wheel, diamond grit size and the diameter of the wire. The operating parameters of the diamond wire saw, such as cutting speed, cutting surface, cutting angle, wire tension and cooling water flow, also have a significant influence. Based on previous studies, the influence of the above parameters on the consumption of energy and wear rate of diamond beads in the operation of a diamond wire saw was analyzed. The paper presents the structural design of a toll station building on the highway. The subject building consists of two different types of structures, a reinforced concrete skeleton structure of ground floor with a flat roof and a steel structure of the canopy. Two reinforced concrete columns that support the canopy rise above the flat ground floor building. This is also the connection between the concrete and steel structure. This paper presents the results of statistical analysis of collected data on the characteristics of envelope elements, as one of the key factors influencing energy consumption and costs, of school buildings (primary and secondary schools) located in the south region of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SR FBiH). The shares of the areas of walls, floors, ceilings and openings in the total area of the envelope, as well as thermal characteristics expressed through the heat transfer coefficient or U-value, were analyzed. This research was conducted by collecting data from detailed energy audit documents on a sample of 47 school buildings located in SR FBiH, which has a Mediterranean or sub-Mediterranean climate. The average envelope U-value is 1.88 W/m2K, and the results of this study indicate very poor thermal characteristics of the existing condition of individual elements of the envelope, expressed by U-values, which are several times higher than the allowable values. Many masonry structures are located in seismically active areas where the action of seismic forces has revealed their vulnerability. Since such structures are built of composite materials, attention should be paid to all the structural elements that make it up. The objective of this paper is to present the procedure and analysis results for a masonry building in order to determine its seismic resistance. The AmQuake software, which facilitates the design and calculation of masonry buildings according to European standards and norms, was used for the analysis. By using the pushover method, the system response to an increasing horizontal force with a constant vertical load is monitored through the calculation. Many roundabout capacity models are present in the world and they are classified into three key groups: empirical models, theoretical models, and microscopic simulation models. In Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, there is no roundabout capacity model prescribed by a rulebook. Theoretical capacity models are derived from gap acceptance theory. Due to some deficiencies of gap acceptance theory, Brilon and Wu introduce a new concept for analyzing the capacity of unsignalized intersections, and thereby of roundabouts too, based on conflict theory and queuing theory. This paper analyzes three roundabout capacity models most commonly used in the world (HCM, Akcelik, Brilon-Wu), with different theoretical backgrounds, in order to compare them with directly measured capacity in the field in local conditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and thus to see the differences in application results. This paper covers the estimation of the water levels of Beysehir Lake, located in middle of Turkey, using the artificial intelligence (AI) such as the neural networks (NN) and the fuzzy logic (FL). The study considers the detailed investigation of the effect of the longterm estimate duration on the lake water level estimation. The analysed estimate ranges were 1 day, 30 days, 60 days and 90 days. The lake parameters such as the shortwave radiation, the lake total inflow rate, the lake total outflow rate and the past lake water levels constituted the input layer of the AI configurations. This study clearly showed that the estimate performance of the AI methods decreases with the increasing estimate range. It is also seen that the best estimate performance criteria are obtained by different AI methods for different estimate ranges. It is seen that the Generalized Regression Neural Network (GRNN) showed relatively superior performance compared with the other two artificial neural networks, i.e. the Radial Basis Function (RBF) and the Feed Forward Back Propagation method (FFBP), and the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) method, for the long estimation ranges such as 60 and 90 days. The European building stock needs fast and affordable digitalization for facilitating the renovation process to achieve higher energy efficiency in buildings and in houses. Most of the residential buildings built between 1925-1975 lack proper documentation and digital building information, as opposed to newer buildings. Digital building information (geometry and attribute data) is required to plan retrofitting projects or renovations of facades. This work can only be efficient if Building Information Modelling (BIM) is available for stakeholders (owners, architects, contractors etc.). Whereas city planners of municipalities or social housing companies are striving to manage their properties and building portfolio on multiple scales, these stakeholders are seeking an approach that enables spatial planning, efficient asset management and energy consumption and management services for their buildings. The article is devoted to the task of improving sound insulation in the construction of internal walls. For the experiment purposes wall panels were used that are made using rubber crumb as a separate structural layer. The analysis of the influence of the frequency range on the value of the sound insulation index was carried out. The effect of the particle size distribution of the mixture and the thickness of the wall panel on its soundproofing characteristics was investigated. Regulation Plan for the historic town area of Mostar includes major aspects of preservation and development of historic town zones. Provisions of the Regulation Plan pertain to use of land and buildings, aiming to preserve and revive the traditional uses and protect the natural characteristics of the area [8]. In this respect, the historic area of the town of Mostar has been divided into ten zones according to the use of land and structures, and Zone 8 covers Neretva as a protected riverside zone. The study aimed to define causes and state of weathering, damage and stability of rocks, then to define the existing state in terms of geological structure, and visit the most critical sections that require improvement. Numerical model based on finite element method for analysis of steel frame structures is presented. Model is implemented in computer program [9] and implies application of 1D (beam) finite element. Large displacement theory with incremental-iterative solution of equilibrium equations is applied. Application of numerical model is presented on an example of steel frame structure where initial geometric imperfections are also included. It is shown that presented numerical model and computer program [9] can be used for practical design of steel frame structures according to EN 1993-1-1 [10]. Main conclusions are given at the end.
