The parameters of fractures, such as fracture geometries, placement, and conductivity, are critical for the production of horizontal wells in tight gas reservoirs. Current studies on fracture parameter optimization, especially those using the optimization algorithms, are often based on the assumptions that the fractures are uniformly placed with equal length and conductivity. However, non-uniform designs of fracture spacing have been proved to be effective in reducing fracture interference as well as increasing the well production, especially with strong rock heterogeneity. In addition, most of the current literature focuses on identifying optimal hydraulic fracture geometries without considering the fracture propagation process, which may oversimplify the evaluation of completion cost and result in fracture geometries that cannot be realized in practice. In this paper, an automatic optimization process, which could efficiently couple the fracture propagation, is proposed to optimize the fracture parameters. The genetic algorithm (GA) with penalty function method is used to optimize the constraint and non-linear problem. A modified PKN fracture propagation model is established to quickly predict the hydraulic fracture geometries. Fracture locations and fluid injection volume are sequentially optimized with consideration of heterogeneous rock properties. Model parameters are taken from typical tight gas horizontal wells in Jinqiu gas field in Sichuan Province, China. The results show the importance of permeability on both fracture length and production in tight gas well. The lower the permeability, the more significant the production increase after fracture location optimization. More fractures tend to be placed in area with small permeability and fewer fractures are required in highly permeable regions. With an increase in rock heterogeneity, the distribution of fractures becomes more uneven. Conversely, increasing the number of fractures can lead to a more even distribution of fractures. More fluid should be injected in low-permeability regions according to the optimization results. The optimization method is applied to a practical tight gas well in Sichuan Basin and the cumulative gas production can be increased by 6.5% to 8% when compared with the initial uniform designs. • A modified PKN model is proposed for quick prediction of fracture propagation, validated against numerical simulations. • GA is used to optimize fracture locations by considering rock heterogeneity's impact on fracture propagation and production. • Sequential optimization of fracture placement and injection volume is conducted with its reliability verified. Microseismic monitoring is a widely used technique in coal mine safe production. Microseismic events classification is one of the most important steps in microseismic monitoring. CNN has been proven to be the potential tool to identify microseismic events automatically. When the noise is serious and the signal is weak, the recognition ability of CNN is limited. Some scholars use denoising methods, such as wavelet transform, to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the input data. However, the effective signal will be broken if the incorrect threshold parameters are set in this wavelet transform-based denoising method. In this paper, we intend to make the data volume of the time-frequency graph obtained by WPT as the input of CNN. But it may lead to a dimensional disaster if taking the time-frequency domain signals as input directly. To utilize the effective information extraction and reduce the data dimension, we propose a dual-channel CNN model by combining time domain information and wavelet packet decomposition coefficients (T-WPD CNN). The wavelet packet decomposition coefficients highlight the characteristics of the signal and suppress the characteristics of noise. In addition, the coefficients have the same dimension as the original signal. These advantages are useful for enhancing the performance of CNN. Two field datasets are used to test the network. One from Australia and another from Jiayang coal mine, Sichuan, China. The feature map of the convolutional layer with different inputs are shown to illustrate the influence effect of raw time domain signal and WPD coefficient on the classification performance. The final results show that the T-WPD CNN is superior to the traditional CNN method in accuracy and robustness. • The network combines time-domain information and wavelet packet decomposition coefficients of the microseismic data. • The more obvious feature map of the microseismic is extracted, which makes the classification performance better. • The wavelet packet decomposition coefficients can avoid the dimensional disaster of the input data. Abstract: The main objective of early impact analysis after a disaster is to produce georeferenced data about the affected areas, in support of humanitarian action. Crucial information is the identification of the disaster areas and the estimation of the number of people involved. Satellite imageries are mainly used as input data for early impact analysis in medium and large scale map. Analyses aimed at defining the damages of infrastructure and/or to facilities require suitable data, such as high resolution satellite images. Unfortunately, satellite images are not always available in a few days after the event. Therefore in situ surveys are preferred. Innovations in Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) have allowed them to become valuable tools in capturing and assessing the extents and amount of damages. Flexibility, safety, ease of operation, and relatively low-cost of ownership and operation facilitate UAS implementation in disaster situations. In this paper, an example of UAS was developed for rapidly obtaining disaster information. Data acquisition at specified scales was successfully performed with the chosen fixed-wing UAS. For the image analysis, a photogrammetric workflow was applied to cope with the very high resolution of the images acquired without ground control points. Tests showed that the system plays an important role in the work of investigating and gathering information about disaster in epicentral areas of the earthquake, such as road detection, secondary disaster investigation, and rapid disaster evaluation. It can effectively provide earthquake information to salvation headquarters for swiftly developing the relief measures and improving the efficiency of emergency rescue. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
