The article reports on the development of a multiphase public/private partnership between Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO), Acrion Technologies Inc. and FirmGreen Energy Inc. in the U.S. The said partnership has been aimed to transform the gas produced by the Franklin County landfill into biofuels and other high-value end products for the reduction of methane and carbon dioxide emissions. The energy recovery system is incorporated with several phases which is found to be significant to the operation. The Phase I involves methane compression processes, Phase II involves installation of two carbon dioxide Wash units, and Phase III involves the utilization of pure carbon dioxide from the wash process.
