The preposition durch has several semantic forms of appereance: a spatial, a temporale, a mediale and a causal. The causal interpretation of the preposition durch is less or even not known - it is frequently identified with its spatial meaning. The fact that the preposition durch also has other meanings is in most papers not even mentioned and thereby unknown for many readers and learners. Precisely therefore this article describes the preposition durch in its causal meaning.
