We report the unprecedented electrocatalytic activity of a series of molecular nickel thiolate complexes (1–5) in reducing CO2 to C1–3 hydrocarbons on carbon paper in pH‐neutral aqueous solutions. Ni(mpo)2 (3, mpo=2‐mercaptopyridyl‐N‐oxide), Ni(pyS)3− (4, pyS=2‐mercaptopyridine), and Ni(mp)2− (5, mp=2‐mercaptophenolate) were found to generate C3 products from CO2 for the first time in molecular complex. Compound 5 exhibits Faradaic efficiencies (FEs) of 10.6 %, 7.2 %, 8.2 % for C1, C2, C3 hydrocarbons respectively at −1.0 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode. Addition of CO to the system significantly promotes the FEC1–C3 to 41.1 %, suggesting that a key Ni−CO intermediate is associated with catalysis. Abstract: We report a paper‐based aptasensor platform that uses two reaction zones and a connecting bridge along with printed multifunctional bio/nano materials to achieve molecular recognition and signal amplification. Upon addition of analyte to the first zone, a fluorescently labelled DNA or RNA aptamer is desorbed from printed graphene oxide, rapidly producing an initial fluorescence signal. The released aptamer then flows to the second zone where it reacts with printed reagents to initiate rolling circle amplification, generating DNA amplicons containing a peroxidase‐mimicking DNAzyme, which produces a colorimetric readout that can be read in an equipment‐free manner or with a smartphone. The sensor was demonstrated using an RNA aptamer for adenosine triphosphate (a bacterial marker) and a DNA aptamer for glutamate dehydrogenase (Clostridium difficile marker) with excellent sensitivity and specificity. We report on a paper device capable of carrying out target-induced rolling circle amplification (RCA) to produce massive DNA amplicons that can be easily visualized. Interestingly, we observed that RCA was more proficient on paper than in solution, which we attribute to a significantly higher localized concentration of immobilized DNA. Furthermore, we have successfully engineered a fully functional paper device for sensitive DNA or microRNA detection via printing of all RCA-enabling molecules within a polymeric sugar film formed from pullulan, which was integrated with the paper device. The artificial microenvironments inside coordination cages have gained significant attention for performing enzyme‐like catalytic reactions by facilitating the formation of labile and complex molecules through a "ship‐in‐a‐bottle" approach. Despite many fascinating examples, this approach remains scarcely explored in the context of synthesizing metallic clusters such as polyoxometalates (POMs). The development of innovative approaches to control and influence the speciation of POMs in aqueous solutions would greatly advance their applicability and could ultimately lead to the formation of elusive clusters that cannot be synthesized by using traditional methods. In this study, we employ host–guest stabilization within a coordination cage to enable a novel cavity‐directed synthesis of labile POMs in aqueous solutions under mild conditions. The elusive Lindqvist [M6O19]2− (M=Mo or W) POMs were successfully synthesized at room temperature via the condensation of molybdate or tungstate building blocks within the confined cavity of a robust and water‐soluble Pt6L4(NO3)12 coordination cage. Importantly, the encapsulation of these POMs enhances their stability in water, rendering them efficient catalysts for environmentally friendly and selective sulfoxidation reactions using H2O2 as a green oxidant in a pure aqueous medium. In this paper, we proposed a heteroatom substitution strategy (HSS) in the δ‐valerolactone (VL) system to modulate thermodynamics toward chemically recyclable polyesters. Three VL‐based monomers containing different heteroatoms (M1 (N), M2 (S), and M3 (O)), instead of C‐5 carbon, were designed and synthesized to verify our proposed HSS. All three monomers undergo organocatalytic living/controlled ROP and controllable depolymerization. Impressively, the resulting P(M1) achieved over 99 % monomer recovery under both mild solution depolymerization and high vacuum pyrolysis conditions without any side reactions, and the recycled monomers can be polymerized again forming new polymers. The systematic study of the relationship between heteroatom substitution and recyclability shows that introducing heteroatoms does change the thermodynamics of the monomers (ΔHpo, ΔSpo and Tc values), thereby adjusting the polymerizability and depolymerizability. DFT calculations found that the introduction of heteroatoms adjusts the ring strain by changing the angular strain of the monomers, and the order of their angular strain (M2>M1>M3) is consistent with the order of the experimentally obtained enthalpy change. Notably, the one‐pot/one‐step copolymerization of two of each of the three monomers enables the synthesis of sequence‐controlled copolymers from gradient to random to block structures, by simply switching the copolymerization temperature. The paper aims to elucidate the final stages in the biosynthesis of the [2Fe]H active site of the [FeFe]‐hydrogenases. The recently hypothesized intermediate [Fe2(SCH2NH2)2(CN)2(CO)4]2− ([1]2−) was prepared by a multistep route from [Fe2(S2)(CN)(CO)5]−. The following synthetic intermediates were characterized in order: [Fe2(SCH2NHFmoc)2(CNBEt3)(CO)5]−, [Fe2(SCH2NHFmoc)2(CN)−(CO)5]−, and [Fe2(SCH2NHFmoc)2(CN)2(CO)4]2−, where Fmoc is fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl). Derivatives of these anions include [K(18‐crown‐6)]+, PPh4+ and PPN+ salts as well as the 13CD2‐isotopologues. These Fe2 species exist as a mixture of two isomers attributed to diequatorial (ee) and axial‐equatorial (ae) stereochemistry at sulfur. In vitro experiments demonstrate that [1]2− maturates HydA1 in the presence of HydF and a cocktail of reagents. HydA1 can also be maturated using a highly simplified cocktail, omitting HydF and other proteins. Two‐dimensional (2D) layered materials demonstrate prominent advantage in regulating lithium plating/stripping behavior by confining lithium diffusion/plating within interlayer gaps. However, achieving effective interlayer confined lithium diffusion/plating without compromising the stability of bulk‐structural and the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) remains a considerable challenge. This paper presents an electrochemical scissor and lithium zipper‐driven protocol for realizing interlayer confined lithium plating with pretty‐low strain and volume change. In this protocol, lithium serves as a "zipper" to reunite the adjacent MXene back to MAX‐like phase to markedly enhance the structural stability, and a lithium halide‐rich SEI is formed by electrochemically removing the terminals of halogenated MXenes to maintain the stability and rapid lithium ions diffusion of SEI. When the Ti3C2I2 serves as the host for lithium plating, the average coulomb efficiency exceeds 97.0 % after 320 lithium plating/stripping cycles in conventional ester electrolyte. Furthermore, a full cell comprising of LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 and Ti3C2I2@Li exhibits a capacity retention rate of 73.4 % after 200 cycles even under high cathode mass‐loading (20 mg cm−2) and a low negative/positive capacity ratio of 1.4. Our findings advance the understanding of interlayer confined lithium plating in 2D layered materials and provide a new direction in regulating lithium and other metal plating/stripping behaviors. Machine learning is increasingly integrated into chemistry research by guiding experimental procedures, correlating structure and function, interpreting large experimental datasets, to distill scientific insights that might be challenging with traditional methods. Such applications, however, largely focus on gaining insights via big data and/or big computation, while neglecting the valuable chemical prior knowledge dwelling in chemists' minds. In this paper, we introduce an Electrochemistry‐Informed Neural Network (ECINN) by explicitly embedding electrochemistry priors including the Butler–Volmer (BV), Nernst and diffusion equations on the backbone of neural networks for multi‐task discovery of electrochemistry parameters. We applied the ECINN to voltammetry experiments of Fe2+/Fe3+ ${{\rm F}{{\rm e}}^{2+}/{\rm F}{{\rm e}}^{3+}}$ and RuNH362+/RuNH363+ ${{\rm R}{\rm u}{\left({\rm N}{{\rm H}}_{3}\right)}_{6}^{2+{\rm \ }}/{\rm R}{\rm u}{\left({\rm N}{{\rm H}}_{3}\right)}_{6}^{3+{\rm \ }}}$ redox couples to discover electrode kinetics and mass transport parameters. Notably, ECINN seamlessly integrated mass transport with BV to analyze the entire voltammogram to infer transfer coefficients directly, so offering a new approach to Tafel analysis by outdating various mass transport correction methods. In addition, ECINN can help discover the nature of electron transfer and is shown to refute incorrect physics if imposed. Benzo‐fused nitrogen heterocycles are common features of bioactive molecules, and the enantioselective synthesis of their substituted analogues is an important goal. In this paper we demonstrate a practical and mechanistically intriguing approach to the enantioselective synthesis of 1‐arylbenzazepines and their analogues. The reaction sequence starts with an asymmetric migratory ring expansion of indoline, tetrahydroquinoline, or tetrahydrobenzazepine ureas on treatment with a chiral lithium amide base. Treatment of the ring‐expanded ureas with acid triggers a two‐atom ring contraction—an 'azatropic shift' in which one urea nitrogen displaces the other—with almost complete retention of stereochemistry. Aminolysis of the urea products provides enantioenriched 1‐aryl‐tetrahydrobenzazepine derivatives and their congeners, including an analogue of an intermediate in the synthesis of the drug solifenacin. Aliphatic polycarbonates (aPCs) have become increasingly popular as functional materials due to their biocompatibility and capacity for on‐demand degradation. Advances in polymerization techniques and the introduction of new functional monomers have expanded the library of aPCs available, offering a diverse range of chemical compositions and structures. To accommodate the emerging requirements of new applications in biomedical and energy‐related fields, various manufacturing techniques have been adopted for processing aPC‐based materials. However, a summary of these techniques has yet to be conducted. The aim of this paper is to enrich the toolbox available to researchers, enabling them to select the most suitable technique for their materials. In this paper, a concise review of the recent progress in processing techniques, including controlled self‐assembly, electrospinning, additive manufacturing, and other techniques, is presented. Ambient ionization is achieved by spraying from a carbon nanotube (CNT)-impregnated paper surface under the influence of small voltages (≥3 V). Organic molecules give simple high-quality mass spectra without fragmentation in the positive or negative ion modes. Conventional field ionization is ruled out, and it appears that field emission of microdroplets occurs. Microscopic examination of the CNT paper confirms that the nanoscale features at the paper surface are responsible for the high electric fields. Raman spectra imply substantial current flows in the nanotubes. The performance of this analytical method was demonstrated for a range of volatile and nonvolatile compounds and a variety of matrices. A straightforward photo-annealing approach was developed for building functional polymer layers on paper. Conducting polyaniline with the ability for photothermal conversion can be readily annealed by near-infrared light. The annealed polymers become both insulating and hydrophobic. Selective photo-annealing produces a functional layer with patterned conductive arrays. This material exhibits real-time response to ammonium gas. This paper presents a Mn(I)‐catalysed methodology for the enantioselective hydrophosphination of terminal alkenyl aza‐heteroarenes. The catalyst operates through H−P bond activation, enabling successful hydrophosphination of a diverse range of alkenyl‐heteroarenes with high enantioselectivity. The presented protocol addresses the inherently low reactivity and the commonly encountered suboptimal enantioselectivities of these challenging substrates. As an important application we show that this method facilitates the synthesis of a non‐symmetric tridentate P,N,P‐containing ligand like structure in just two synthetic steps using a single catalytic system. In this paper, we report BF3 ⋅ OEt2 as a catalyst to shuttle equivalents of HF from a fluoroalkane to an alkyne. Reactions of terminal and internal aliphatic alkynes led to formation of difluoroalkane products, while diarylalkynes can be selectively converted into fluoroalkenes. The method tolerates numerous sensitive functional groups including halogen, protected amine, ester and thiophene substituents. Mechanistic studies (DFT, probe experiments) suggest the catalyst is involved in both the defluorination and fluorination steps, with BF3 acting as a Lewis acid and OEt2 a weak Lewis base that mediates proton transfer. In certain cases, the interconversion of fluoroalkene and difluoroalkane products was found to be reversible. The asymmetric reduction of 1,2‐diketones for the synthesis of optically active 1,2‐diols, especially 1,2‐anti‐diols, remains a formidable challenge. In this paper, we describe the first highly stereoselective hydrosilylation of unsymmetrical vicinal diketones with PhSiH3 by using a chiral frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) catalyst, giving a variety of 1,2‐diaryl‐1,2‐anti‐diols in high yields with excellent d.r. values and up to 97 % ee. It is shown that data presented in a paper by Chao and co‐workers do not support the formation of active “Carbon Radicals” as claimed according to the title. Modulation of the microenvironment on the electrode surface is one of the effective means to improve the efficiency of electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction (eCO2RR). To achieve high conversion rates, the phase boundary at the electrode surface should be finely controlled to overcome the limitation of CO2 solubility in the aqueous electrolyte. Herein, we developed a simple and efficient method to structure electrocatalyst with a superhydrophobic surface microenvironment by one‐step co‐electrodeposition of Cu and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) on carbon paper. The super‐hydrophobic Cu‐based electrode displayed a high ethylene (C2H4) selectivity with a Faraday efficiency (FE) of 67.3 % at −1.25 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) in an H‐type cell, which is 2.5 times higher than a regular Cu electrode without PTFE. By using PTFE as a surface modifier, the activity of eCO2RR is enhanced and water (proton) adsorption is inhibited. We report in this paper a Pd(II)‐catalyzed migratory gem‐fluorolactonization of ene‐carboxylic acids. Reaction of 4‐methylenealkanoic acid derivatives with Selectfluor in the presence of Pd(OAc)2 (1.0 mol %) at room temperature affords fluorolactones in good to excellent yields. 2‐(2‐Methylenecycloalkanyl)acetic acids are transformed to bridged fluorolactones under identical conditions. One C−C, one C−O and one tertiary C−F bond were generated along the gem‐disubstituted carbon‐carbon double bond in this operationally simple transformation. Trapping experiments indicates that the reaction is initiated by a 5‐exo‐trig oxypalladation followed by Pd oxidation, regioselective ring‐enlarging 1,2‐alkyl/Pd(IV) dyotropic rearrangement and C−F bond forming reductive elimination cascade. Post‐transformations of these fluorolactones taking advantage of the electrophilicity of the 1‐fluoroalkylcarboxylate function are also documented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Here we report on an ultra‐sensitive colorimetric sensing platform that takes advantage of both the strong amplification power of rolling circle amplification (RCA) and the high efficiency of a simple urease‐mediated litmus test. The presence of a target triggers the RCA reaction, and urease‐labelled DNA can hybridize to the biotinylated RCA products and be immobilized onto streptavidin‐coated magnetic beads. The urease‐laden beads are then used to hydrolyze urea, leading to an increase in pH that can be detected by a simple litmus test. We show this sensing platform can be easily integrated with aptamers for sensing diverse targets via the detection of human thrombin and platelet‐derived growth factor (PDGF) utilizing structure‐switching aptamers as well as SARS‐CoV‐2 in human saliva using a spike‐binding trimeric DNA aptamer. The synthesis of anisotropic colloidal building blocks is essential for their self‐assembly into hierarchical materials. Here, a highly efficient stabilizer‐assisted liquid‐crystallization‐driven self‐assembly (SA‐LCDSA) strategy was developed to achieve monodisperse colloidal polymer rods. This strategy does not require the use of block copolymers, but only homopolymers or random copolymers. The resulting rods have tunable size and aspect ratios, as well as well‐defined columnar liquid crystal structures. The integrated triphenylene units enable the rods to exhibit unusual photo‐induced fluorescence enhancement and accompanying irradiation memory effect, which, as demonstrated, are attractive for information encryption/decryption of paper documents. In particular, unwanted document decryption during delivery can be examined by fluorescence kinetics. Making sense: A novel polyacetylene composite material with incorporated aligned carbon nanotubes shows rapid changes in both fluorescent intensity and color appearance in response to applied electric currents, and these electrochromatic transitions remain reversible even after a thousand cycles. Electrochemical reduction of NO not only offers an attractive alternative to the Haber–Bosch process for ambient NH3 production but mitigates the human‐caused unbalance of nitrogen cycle. Herein, we report that MoS2 nanosheet on graphite felt (MoS2/GF) acts as an efficient and robust 3D electrocatalyst for NO‐to‐NH3 conversion. In acidic electrolyte, such MoS2/GF attains a maximal Faradaic efficiency of 76.6 % and a large NH3 yield of up to 99.6 μmol cm−2 h−1. Using MoS2 nanosheet‐loaded carbon paper as the cathode, a proof‐of‐concept device of Zn‐NO battery was assembled to deliver a discharge power density of 1.04 mW cm−2 and an NH3 yield of 411.8 μg h−1 mgcat.−1. Calculations reveal that the positively charged Mo‐edge sites facilitate NO adsorption/activation via an acceptance–donation mechanism and disfavor the binding of protons and the coupling of N−N bond. For the application of CO2 as an energy storage material, a H2 storage system has been proposed based on the interconversion of CO2 and formic acid (or formate). However, energy losses are inevitable in the conversion of electrical energy to H2 as chemical energy (≈70 % electrical efficiency) and H2 to electrical energy (≈40 % electrical efficiency). To overcome these significant energy losses, we developed a system based on the interconversion of CO2 and formate for the direct storage and generation of electricity. In this paper, we report an aqueous redox flow battery system using homogeneous Ir catalysts with CO2‐formate redox pair. The system exhibited a maximum discharge capacity of 10.5 mAh (1.5 Ah L−1), capacity decay of 0.2 % per cycle, and total turnover number of 2550 after 50 cycles. During charging‐discharging, in situ fluorescence X‐ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy based on an online setup indicated that the active species was in a high valence state of IrIV. The use of dopant‐free hole transport layers (HTLs) is critical in stabilizing n‐i‐p perovskite solar cells (pero‐SCs). However, these HTL materials are often processed with toxic solvents, which is not ideal for industrial production. Upon substituting them with green solvents, a trade‐off emerges between maintaining the high crystallinity of the HTL materials and ensuring high solubility in the new solvents. In this paper, we designed a novel, linear, organic small molecule, BDT‐C8‐3O, by introducing an asymmetric polar oligo(ethylene glycol) side chain. This method not only overcomes the solubility limitations in green solvents but also enables stacking the conjugated main chains in two patterns, which further enhances crystallinity and hole mobility. As a result, the n‐i‐p pero‐SCs based on chlorobenzene‐ or green (natural compound) solvent 3‐methylcyclohexanone‐processed BDT‐C8‐3O HTL that without any dopant delivered world‐recorded power conversion efficiencies of 24.11 % (certified of 23.82 %) and 23.53 %, respectively. The devices also demonstrated remarkable operational and high‐temperature stabilities, maintaining over 84 % and 79.5 % of their initial efficiency for 2000 h, respectively. Encouragingly, dopant‐free BDT‐C8‐3O HTL exhibits significant advantages in large‐area fabrication, achieving state‐of‐the‐art PCEs exceeding 20 % for 5×5 cm2 modules (active area: 15.64 cm2), even when processed using green solvents. Site‐specific modification of thiol‐containing biomolecules has been recognized as a versatile and powerful strategy for probing our biological systems and discovering novel therapeutics. The addition of lipophilic silicon moiety opens up new avenues for multi‐disciplinary research with broad applications in both the medicinal and material sciences. However, adhering to the strict biocompatibility requirements, and achieving the introduction of labile silicon handle and high chemo‐selectivity have been formidable. In this paper, we report silicon‐based conjugating reagents including β‐trialkylsilyl and silyl ether‐tethered alkynones that selectively react with thiols under physiological conditions. The pH‐neutral, metal‐free and additive‐free reaction yields stable products with broad substrate compatibility and full retention of silicon handles in most cases. Besides simple aliphatic and aromatic thiols, this approach is applicable in the labeling of thiols present in proteins, sugars and payloads, thereby expanding the toolbox of thiol conjugation. The limited active sites and poor acid‐alkaline solution stability of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), significantly limit their wider application. In this study, the acid property of tannic acid (TA) was used as an etchant to etch the surface‐active sites. Subsequently, the further chelation of the protonated TA with the exposed metal active site can effectively protect the metal ions. Meanwhile, the TA provided a large amount of phenolic hydroxyl groups, which can greatly improve the stability of imidazolate‐coordinated MOFs. The electrochemical test results indicated that the MOFs composite materials synthesized using this scheme had high specific capacitance and stability. And the mechanism of its electrochemical reaction process was explored through in situ X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and theoretical calculations. In addition, the same treatment was carried out through a series of carboxyl‐coordinated MOFs, which further confirmed the principle of this scheme to obtain a higher active site and stability. Organosulfides are promising candidates as cathode materials for the development of electric vehicles and energy storage systems due to their low‐cost and high capacity properties. However, they generally suffer from slow kinetics because of the large rearrangement of S−S bonds and structural degradation upon cycling in batteries. In this paper, we reveal that soluble bis(2‐pyrimidyl) disulfide (Pym2S2) can be a high‐rate cathode material for rechargeable lithium batteries. Benefiting from the superdelocalization of pyrimidyl group, the extra electrons prefer to be localized on the π* (pyrimidyl group) than σ* (S−S bond) molecular orbitals initially, generating the anion‐like intermedia of [Pym2S2]2− and thus decreasing the dissociation energy of the S−S bond. It makes the intrinsic energy barrier of dissociative electron transfer depleted, therefore the lithium half cell exhibits 2000 cycles at 5 C. Piezochromic materials with pressure‐dependent photoluminescence tuning properties are important in many fields, such as mechanical sensors, security papers, and storage devices. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), as an emerging class of crystalline porous materials (CPMs) with structural dynamics and tunable photophysical properties, are suitable for designing piezochromic materials, but there are few related studies. Herein, we report two dynamic three‐dimensional COFs based on aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) or aggregation‐caused quenching (ACQ) chromophores, termed JUC‐635 and JUC‐636 (JUC=Jilin University China), and for the first time, study their piezochromic behavior by diamond anvil cell technique. Due to the various luminescent groups, JUC‐635 has completely different solvatochromism and molecular aggregation behavior in the solvents. More importantly, JUC‐635 with AIE effect exhibits a sustained fluorescence upon pressure increase (≈3 GPa), and reversible sensitivity with high‐contrast emission differences (Δλem=187 nm) up to 12 GPa, superior to other CPMs reported so far. Therefore, this study will open a new gate to expand the potential applications of COFs as exceptional piezochromic materials in pressure sensing, barcoding, and signal switching. Efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions are key to water electrolysis. Herein, we report a built‐in electric field (BEF) strategy to fabricate heterogeneous nickel phosphide‐cobalt nanowire arrays grown on carbon fiber paper (Ni2P‐CoCH/CFP) with large work function difference (ΔΦ) as bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water splitting. Impressively, Ni2P‐CoCH/CFP exhibits a remarkable catalytic activity for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions to obtain 10 mA cm−2, respectively. Moreover, the assembled lab‐scale electrolyzer driven by an AAA battery delivers excellent stability after 50 h electrocatalysis with a 100 % faradic efficiency. Computational calculations combining with experiments reveal the interface‐induced electric field effect facilitates asymmetrical charge distributions, thereby regulating the adsorption/desorption of the intermediates during reactions. An Au‐on‐Au tip sensor is developed for the detection of Salmonella typhimurium (Salmonella), using a new synthetic nucleic acid probe (NAP) as a linker for the immobilization of a DNA‐conjugated Au nanoparticle (AuNP) onto a DNA‐attached thin Au layer inside a pipette tip. In the presence of Salmonella, RNase H2 from Salmonella (STH2) cleaves the NAP and the freed DNA‐conjugated AuNP can be visually detected by a paper strip. This portable biosensor does not require any electronic, electrochemical or optical equipment. It delivers a detection limit of 3.2×103 CFU mL−1 for Salmonella in 1 h without cell‐culturing or signal amplification and does not show cross‐reactivity with several control bacteria. Further, the sensor reliably detects Salmonella spiked in food samples, such as ground beef and chicken, milk, and eggs. The sensor can be reused and is stable at ambient temperature, showing its potential as a point‐of‐need device for the prevention of food poisoning by Salmonella. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Developing easily accessible descriptors is crucial but challenging to rationally design single‐atom catalysts (SACs). This paper describes a simple and interpretable activity descriptor, which is easily obtained from the atomic databases. The defined descriptor proves to accelerate high‐throughput screening of more than 700 graphene‐based SACs without computations, universal for 3–5d transition metals and C/N/P/B/O‐based coordination environments. Meanwhile, the analytical formula of this descriptor reveals the structure–activity relationship at the molecular orbital level. Using electrochemical nitrogen reduction as an example, this descriptor's guidance role has been experimentally validated by 13 previous reports as well as our synthesized 4 SACs. Orderly combining machine learning with physical insights, this work provides a new generalized strategy for low‐cost high‐throughput screening while comprehensive understanding the structure‐mechanism‐activity relationship. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), thanks to their adjustable porous structure and abundant build‐in functional motifs, have been recently regarded as promising electrode materials for a variety of batteries. There still remain grand opportunities to further utilizing their merits for developing advanced COFs‐based batteries. In this paper, we propose a hybrid acid/alkali all‐COFs battery by coupling pyrene‐4,5,9,10‐tetraone based COF cathode with anthraquinone based COF anode. In such a hybrid acid/alkali all‐COFs battery, the cathodic COF favorably works in acid with a relatively positive potential, while the anodic COF preferably runs in alkali with a relatively negative potential. It thus can deliver a decently high discharge capacity of 92.97 mAh g−1 with a wide voltage window of 2.0 V, and exhibit high energy density of 74.2 Wh kg−1 along with a considerable cyclic stability over 300 cycles. Glass is a group of materials with appealing qualities, including simplicity in fabrication, durability, and high transparency, and they play a crucial role in the optics field. In this paper, a new organic–inorganic metal halide luminescent glass exhibiting >78 % transmittance at 506–800 nm range together with a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 28.5 % is reported through a low‐temperature melt‐quenching approach of pre‐synthesized (HTPP)2MnBr4 (HTPP=hexyltriphenylphosphonium) single crystal. Temperature‐dependent X‐ray diffraction, polarizing microscopy, and molecular dynamics simulations were combined to investigate the glass‐crystal interconversion process, revealing the disordered nature of the glassy state. Benefiting from the transparent nature, (HTPP)2MnBr4 glass yields an outstanding spatial resolution of 10 lp mm−1 for X‐ray imaging. The superb optical properties and facility of large‐scale fabrication distinguish the organic–inorganic metal halide glass as a highly promising class of materials for optical devices. We report herein an asymmetric Pictet–Spengler reaction of α‐ketoesters. In the presence of a catalytic amount of simple alanine‐derived squaramide and p‐nitrobenzoic acid, reaction of tryptamines with methyl 2‐oxoalkanoates afforded the corresponding 1‐alkyl‐1‐methoxycarbonyl tetrahydro‐β‐carbolines (THBCs) in high yields and ee values. A primary kinetic isotope effect (KIE=4.5) using C2‐deteurium‐labelled tryptamine indicates that rearomatization through deprotonation of the pentahydro‐β‐carbolinium ion could be the rate‐ and enantioselectivity‐determining step. A concise enantioselective total synthesis of (+)‐alstratine A, a hexacyclic cagelike monoterpene indole alkaloid, featuring this reaction as a key step, was subsequently accomplished. Remeasurement of the [a]D value of the natural product indicates that natural alstratine A is dextrorotatory rather than levorotatory as it was initially reported in the isolation paper. The concept of green carbon science is to promote the goal of achieving carbon neutrality, the importance and urgency of which have been well‐recognized and received worldwide attention. Carbon neutrality has become the focus of research work in many fields, and correspondingly, a growing number of papers and publications have been published over the last few years. However, since carbon neutralization is a real problem that urgently requires technical solutions, the transition from fundamental research to practical applications must be accelerated. A number of research teams are bold in putting things into practice and blazing new trails. This Review summarizes the recent technological developments within the framework of green carbon science, focusing on conducted pilot tests, industrial demonstrations, and commercial applications beyond the laboratory stage. Improving the stability of sensitive catalytic systems is an emerging research topic in the catalysis field. However, the current design of heterogeneous catalysts mainly improves their catalytic performance. This paper presents a single‐atom catalyst (SAC) strategy to improve the cobalt‐catalysed fluorination of acyl chlorides. A stable Co−F intermediate can be formed through the oxidative fluorination of Co1−N4@NC SAC, which can replace the unstable high‐valent cobalt catalytic system and avoid the use of phosphine ligands. In the SAC system, KF can be employed as a fluorinating reagent to replace the AgF, which can be applied to various substrates and scale‐up conversion with high turnover numbers (TON=1.58×106). This work also shows that inorganic SACs have tremendous potential for organofluorine chemistry, and it provides a good reference for follow‐up studies on the structure‐activity relationship between catalyst design and chemical reaction mechanisms. The development of novel metal organic framework (MOF) friction power generation materials with high stability is important. This paper reports the first example of a double‐helix metal chain organic framework with a network structure (ZUT‐8). ZUT‐8 shows high chemical stability, functional adjustability, and excellent output performance of friction power generation, which is superior to traditional coordination polymer materials. The cathodic protection system with ZUT‐8 can prevent metal corrosion significantly. The output performance can be improved effectively by enhancing the conjugate effect of the linker. The theoretical calculation results showed that an increase in the degree of conjugation could significantly reduce the band gap, thereby affecting the friction power output signal. This study opens the door to constructing MOF materials with a double‐helix metal chain and will promote their potential applications in self‐powered electrochemical cathodic protection. Porous organic polymer films (PFs) with intrinsical porosity and tuneable pore environment are ideally suited for application in electronic devices. However, the huge challenges still exist for construction of electronic devices based on PFs owing to lack of robustness, processability, and controllable preparation. Herein, we report the electrochemical preparation of carbazole‐based porous organic polymer films (eCPFs) as switchable materials for the memristors. These eCPFs possess the characteristics of controllable thickness/size, high stability, and excellent porosity. Carbazole and cyano groups are introduced into the eCPFs to constructing electron transfer systems. Thus, the memristors constructed based on these eCPFs exhibit excellent switching performance, reliability, and reproducibility. The electrochemically controllable preparation method of porous organic polymer membranes proposed in this paper provides a feasible idea for the developments of electronic devices. Shuke Wu, a Professor of Biotechnology at Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, China, has published an article titled "Production of Biobased Ethylbenzene by Cascade Biocatalysis with an Engineered Photodecarboxylase" in Angewandte Chemie International Edition. Wu's research focuses on biocatalysis, enzyme engineering, directed evolution, and synthetic biology. Wu's favorite example of chemistry in everyday life is how evolution shapes our world and human society. Wu believes that young professors and group leaders are not prepared for the administrative and teaching tasks that come with their positions. Wu's biggest motivation is making his scientific designs come true and helping his students and co-workers succeed. Wu's motto is "Just do it," and he celebrates success by having a big meal with his students and co-workers. Wu's favorite saying is "It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice," which he applies to his research and his approach to working with students and co-workers. Long‐lived afterglow room‐temperature phosphorescence (RTP) from natural phenolics has seldom been reported yet this is essential for the development of sustainable afterglow RTP materials. With this research, we have prepared sustainable afterglow RTP materials (GA@SA) with a lifetime of up to ≈934.7 ms by embedding gallic acid (GA) within a Ca2+‐crosslinked sodium alginate (SA) matrix. Theoretical simulations indicate that the restricted carbonyl moieties of the GA and H‐type aggregates of GA in a SA matrix promoted the spin orbit coupling (SOC) of GA and induced afterglow emission. Moreover, afterglow RTP emission could be produced by embedding different types of natural phenolics such as, tannic acid, caffeic acid and chlorogenic acid into Ca2+‐crosslinked networks of SA. As an illustration of potential applications, GA@SA was used to prepare anti‐counterfeit afterglow clothing and paper. Electrochemical redox‐control is an emerging strategy for the regulation of polymerization process without the addition of external oxidants and reductants, which enables the control over composition, microstructure and properties of the polymer products. In this paper, based on the chemical selectivity of heterometallic Salen‐Co‐Mn complexes of different valences, an electrochemically switchable strategy was developed for the copolymerization of lactide (LA), CO2 and epoxides. The switchable redox reactions endowed this system with the capability to easily synthesize a multi‐block copolymer of polylactide (PLA) and polycarbonate (PC). A photo‐annealing approach was developed for building functional polymer layers on paper. In their Communication on page 4465 ff., Y. Wang and co‐workers show that conducting polyaniline with the ability to undergo photothermal conversion can be annealed by near‐infrared light. The porous structure is retained in the annealed polymer but it becomes insulating and hydrophobic. Force‐selective mechanochemical reactions may be important for applications in polymer mechanochemistry, yet it is difficult to achieve such reactions. This paper reports that cis‐N‐phthalimidoaziridine incorporated into a macromolecular backbone undergoes migration of N‐phthalimido group to afford imine under mechanochemical condition and not thermal one. The imine is further hydrolyzed by water bifurcating into amine and aldehyde. These structural transformations are confirmed by 1H NMR and FT‐IR spectroscopic analyses. As a typical class of man‐made nanoreactors, metal‐loaded hollow carbon nanostructures (MHC nanoreactors) exhibit competitive potentials in the heterogeneous catalysis due to their tailorable microenvironment effects, in which the void‐confinement effect is one of the most fundamental functions in boosting the catalytic performance. Herein this paper, Ru‐loaded hollow carbon spheres are employed as nanoreactors with a crucial biomass hydrogenation process, levulinic acid (LA) hydrogenation into γ‐valerolactone, as the probe reaction to further recognize the forming mechanism of this pivotal effect. We demonstrated that the void‐confinement effect of the selected MHC nanoreactors is essentially driven by an integrating action of electronic metal‐support interaction, reactant enrichment and diffusion, which are mainly ascribed to peculiar properties of hollow nanoreactors both in electronic and structural aspects, respectively. This work offers a distinct case for interpreting the catalytic behaviour of MHC nanoreactors, which could potentially promise broader insights into the microenvironment engineering strategies of hollow nanostructures. Wearable electronics require highly conductive fibrous materials, which can now be fabricated at room temperature. In their Communication on page 7718 ff., H. M. Lee, S. H. Ko, and co‐workers demonstrate that cotton or paper fibers can be impregnated and coated with Al atoms from the precursor Al{O(C4H9)2}. The fibrous materials exhibit excellent electrical conductivity, as well as enduring mechanical strength, which is indicative of their potential applications for flexible and wearable electronics. This paper describes a new method for the transannular functionalization of the γ‐C−H bonds in alicyclic amines to install C(sp3)−halogen, oxygen, nitrogen, boron, and sulfur bonds. The key challenge for this transformation is controlling the relative rate of Cγ−H versus Cα−H functionalization. We demonstrate that this selectivity can be achieved by pre‐complexation of the substrate with Pd prior to the addition of oxidant. The nature of the processes at the origin of life that selected specific classes of molecules for broad incorporation into cells is controversial. Among those classes selected were polyisoprenoids and their derivatives. This paper tests the hypothesis that polyisoprenoids were early contributors to membranes in part because they (or their derivatives) could facilitate charge transport by quantum tunneling. It measures charge transport across self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) of carboxyl‐terminated monoterpenoids (O2C(C9HX)) and alkanoates (O2C(C7HX)) with different degrees of unsaturation, supported on silver (AgTS) bottom electrodes, with Ga2O3/EGaIn top electrodes. Measurements of current density of SAMs of linear length‐matched hydrocarbons—both saturated and unsaturated—show that completely unsaturated molecules transport charge faster than those that are completely saturated by approximately a factor of ten. This increase in relative rates of charge transport correlates with the number of carbon–carbon double bonds, but not with the extent of conjugation. These results suggest that polyisoprenoids—even fully unsaturated—are not sufficiently good tunneling conductors for their conductivity to have favored them as building blocks in the prebiotic world.
