This section addresses the question of whether anyone has ever sold deeds for square feet of library floor space as a fundraiser. The San Diego County Library has run two successful Buy a Square Foot campaigns. Its first campaign helped finance the rebuilding of the Fallbrook Library, which was destroyed in an arson fire on April 1, 1985. Members of the community who donated $25 or more were given an attractive blue and gold enamel lapel pin in the shape of the new library.
