Text and data mining activities—that is, the automated processing of digital materials to uncover new knowledge—have become more frequent in all areas of scientific research. Because they require a massive use of copyrighted work, there are evident conflicts with copyright legislation. Countries at the forefront of research and development have begun to address this issue. This paper presents the basic aspects of legislation applicable to text and data mining activities. It offers a detailed comparative analysis of the norms of the main jurisdictions that have regulated them to date, highlighting in each case the positive and negative aspects. An adequate knowledge of these laws is not only important for researchers but also important for the academic librarians who provide advice and support in these matters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The raison d'être of nursing is caring for human beings. Mainly due to its close link to the nursing discipline's raison d'être, "caring," translational science is recently getting more attention from nursing scientists across the globe. This paper is to discuss the current status of translational science in nursing across four countries (the USA, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan). The data used in this discussion paper included: (a) written notes on issues related translational research/science in individual countries; (b) written memos on exemplars/cases from their own experiences; and (c) summaries of literature reviews. The data analysis was conducted using a simple content analysis. Four themes reflecting the current status of translational science across the countries were identified: (a) "contextualized in unique culture and history of nursing"; (b) "connecting basic science to clinical practice"; (c) "an extension of evidence-based practice"; and (d) "highly promoted, but still minimal translation of nursing knowledge.", (Copyright © 2024 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. Natural gas hydrate (NGH) is a significant alternative energy resource in achieving carbon neutrality. The developmental trend and competitive landscape of NGH exploitation and production are crucial for policymakers in government, managers of enterprises, and researchers. This study introduces a novel framework for conducting an in-depth analysis of NGH, integrating patentometrics, technology evolution, and correlation relationships to monitor developmental trends and competitive landscape through patent analysis. The results indicate that China, the USA, and Japan have distinct technology advantages. Current technological developments in the NGH field focus primarily on extraction technologies, equipment, and processing systems. The co-opetition analysis among countries reveals that the most extensive international cooperation network is primarily in Europe and the USA, with national partnerships in Asia concentrated in China and Japan. Institutional cooperation remains limited, primarily within universities in China, while both the USA and Japan foster collaboration between enterprises. The competitive landscapes of key NGH-related technologies among countries and institutions are also examined. Danaher (2016) has argued that increasing robotization can lead to retribution gaps: Situations in which the normative fact that nobody can be justly held responsible for a harmful outcome stands in conflict with our retributivist moral dispositions. In this paper, we report a cross-cultural empirical study based on Sparrow's (2007) famous example of an autonomous weapon system committing a war crime, which was conducted with participants from the US, Japan and Germany. We find that (1) people manifest a considerable willingness to hold autonomous systems morally responsible, (2) partially exculpate human agents when interacting with such systems, and that more generally (3) the possibility of normative responsibility gaps is indeed at odds with people's pronounced retributivist inclinations. Objective: This paper provides an in-depth examination of public attitudes towards salt reduction across seven culturally diverse countries: the USA, the UK, France, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, and Brazil., Design: Cross-sectional regression analysis with questionnaire data., Setting: An analysis of questionnaire study in seven countries., Participants: The study's questionnaire collected responses from 7090 participants across seven countries with the mean age of respondents being 46.06 years (SD 16.96). The gender distribution encompassed 3473 men (49.12%), 3582 women (50.66%), 24 non-binary individuals (0.34%) and 11 who identified as 'other' (0.16%)., Primary and Secondary Outcome Measures: Attitudes toward sodium reduction were measured on a seven-point Likert scale., Results: Regression analysis revealed significant associations between attitudes towards sodium reduction and various factors across countries. Gender was a significant factor in France, with women showing less awareness than men (coefficient -0.123, 95% CI -0.237 to -0.008). Age was a significant factor in Japan and Thailand, with older generations exhibiting stronger awareness. Occupation was a significant factor in France (grocery, 0.678, 0.229 to 1.127) and Japan (food service, 0.792, 0.300 to 1.283). In France (0.090, 0.033 to 0.146) and Brazil (0.092, 0.040 to 0.144), attitudes towards reducing sugar intake were positively associated with sodium reduction attitudes. Government interventions showed varying impacts, with positive associations in Thailand (0.004, 0.001 to 0.008) and negative associations in France (-0.003 -0.005 to -0.000)., Conclusion: Our study reveals a complex array of factors shaping attitudes towards sodium reduction across seven countries. These findings support the need for nuanced, country-specific approaches in formulating sodium reduction strategies. Newborn screening (NBS) programs are believed to play an important role in the decrease of infant mortality rates in many countries. This is achieved through offering early detection and treatment of many genetic as well as metabolic disorders prior to the onset of symptoms. Our paper examines NBS across seven diverse nations: Saudi Arabia, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. This paper discusses the diseases screened for by each country, latest additions, as well as future recommendations, when applicable. Employing a comparative approach, we conducted a comprehensive review of the most recent published literature on NBS programs in each country and subsequently examined their latest implemented NBS guidelines as outlined on their respective official government health sector websites. We then reviewed the economic feasibility of each of these programs and factors that affect implementation and overall benefit. While all six countries employ well-developed programs, variations are observed. Those variations are mainly attributed to disparities in access, resource scarcity, financial availability, as well as ethical and cultural considerations. From a local perspective, we recommend conducting further population-based studies to assess the epidemiological data in relation to the disease burden on the country's economy. Chimeric Antigen Receptor-T cell (CAR-T) therapy has evolved as a revolutionary cancer treatment modality, offering remarkable clinical responses by harnessing the power of a patient's immune system to target and eliminate cancer cells. However, the development and commercialization of CAR-T cell therapies are accompanied by complex regulatory requirements and challenges. This therapy falls under the regulatory category of advanced therapy medicinal products. The regulatory framework and approval tools of regenerative medicine, especially CAR-T cell therapies, vary globally. The present work comprehensively analyses the regulatory landscape and challenges in CAR-T cell therapy development in four key regions: the United States, the European Union, Japan, and India. This work explores the unique requirements and considerations for preclinical studies, clinical trial design, manufacturing standards, safety evaluation, and post-marketing surveillance in each jurisdiction. Due to their complex nature, developers and manufacturers face several challenges. In India, despite advancements in treatment protocols and government-sponsorships, there are still several difficulties regarding access to treatment for the increasing number of cancer patients. However, India's first indigenously developed CAR-T cell therapy, NexCAR19, for B-cell lymphoma or leukemia, approved and available at a low cost compared to other available CAR-T therapies, raises great hope in the battle against cancer. Several strategies are proposed to address the identified hurdles from global and Indian perspectives. "Tobacco harm reduction" is defined as a method to minimize harm and risk of death and disease without eliminating tobacco and nicotine use. In Japan, where heated tobacco products (HTPs) are prevalent, the tobacco industry is progressively endorsing the concept of "tobacco harm reduction." Therefore, stakeholders in tobacco control must urgently share perspectives and experiences surrounding this issue.　This discussion paper aimed to propose four requirements for effectively implementing "tobacco harm reduction" as a public health measure: (1) disease risk reduction, (2) cigarette smoking cessation, (3) no additional public health concerns, and (4) regulatory authorities held by health agencies, and compile information on them regarding nicotine-containing electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and HTPs. Another aim was to summarize policies related to "tobacco harm reduction" adopted by an international organization (World Health Organization (WHO) and health authorities in foreign countries (the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom (UK), Australia, Italy, and the Republic of Korea) to explore the implications of these requirements on Japan's approach. Regarding the first three requirements, scientific evidence indicated that e-cigarettes offers some level of risk reduction and can assist with cigarette smoking cessation. The potential uptake of e-cigarettes among youth and their possibility to serve as a gateway to combusted cigarette use is a concern, though a definitive causal link is yet to be established between the uptake of e-cigarette in youth and the subsequent use of different tobacco products. There is insufficient scientific evidence for any of the three requirements for HTPs. Regarding the official policies, WHO took the position that the same regulations should be applied to all tobacco products. Only the UK and USA officially established a health system based on the concept of "tobacco harm reduction"; even in Italy and the Republic of Korea, where HTPs are relatively widespread, health authorities denied any risk reduction by introducing HTPs. The UK officially adopted a smoking cessation policy with e-cigarettes. The USA established a modified risk tobacco product system under federal legislation enacted in 2009, whereas of June 2023, no HTP or e-cigarettes were recognized as explicitly reducing health risk. Regarding the fourth requirement, the UK and USA institutionalized "tobacco harm reduction" under health authorities' regulation independent of the tobacco industry. The introduction of a tobacco harm reduction policy in Japan should be considered only in line with health authorities' regulation and implementation of comprehensive tobacco control measures independent of the tobacco industry.

This narrative review paper contrasts the professional prospects of psychologists in Japan and the U.S., discussing how divergent training, licensing, and practice standards appear to influence psychologists' profession in each country. Licensed psychologists in the U.S. practice with significant autonomy, which can be seen as a reflection of rigorous training requirements. In contrast, certified public psychologists in Japan complete a shorter-duration training regimen yet encounter more restrictive professional standards and greater financial challenges. These varying standards often create barriers to professional practice that impact psychologists on a global scale. Limited international mobility restricts opportunities for psychologists to learn abroad, exchange knowledge, and deliver culturally sensitive care to diverse populations, despite the need for such services among foreign individuals or immigrants in both countries. Furthermore, these disparities impede broader collaborative efforts to address global mental health challenges. Aligning training and licensing standards globally could enhance psychologists' international mobility, ensure consistent quality of care, and foster global collaboration. This alignment could improve access to culturally sensitive psychological services and help bridge the mental health care gap worldwide. This review emphasizes the necessity of further cross-cultural comparisons to understand the impact of training and licensing standards on clinical practice quality and accessibility. This article aims to perform a comparative systematic review of regulations in veterinary medicine between the years 2016 to 2023. It explores the complex web of veterinary medicine regulations in various agencies and the nations, including USA (United States of America), EU (European Union), UK (United Kingdom), Japan, Australia, and India. Current article provides the comparative study on the veterinary regulations of different countries, including acts, directives, and drug approval processes. Such as, the specific legislation is needed to address zoonotic diseases. The strategic and regulated stockpiling of the veterinary drugs especially in chronic veterinary disease outbreak. It is essential to develop the dedicated Veterinary Pharmacopoeia for the regulated standardization of the raw materials as well as the formulations. Veterinary medical device is a field which is highly unregulated. There is a need to have regulations for the same. It is important to have dedicated veterinary pharmacovigilance centers which help in improving quality of medications to the livestock farms. After comparing the regulations of different countries. We observed that there is the absence of the zoonotic diseases and pharma stockpiling in every country. There is also an absence of the dedicated veterinary pharmacopoeia in every country. USA and Australia have the veterinary medical device regulation which is not there in other countries. Around the globe only Australia has the dedicated pharmacovigilance center. Including these recommendations into regulatory framework enhances the quality and safety of veterinary medicine.
