Staphylea holocarpa (Hemsley 1895) is an ornamental deciduous shrub or tree in the family Staphyleaceae. As the shortage of the wild resources, S. holocarpa is also a rare plant. The revelation of the species origin and evolution progress and the relation. Therefore, the S. holocarpa complete chloroplast genome sequence was completed and characterized by de novo assembly. The cp genome length of S. holocarpa was 160,461 bp and it has a typical quadripartite structure, consisted of an 89,760 bp large single-copy region and a 18,639 bp small single-copy region, which were divided by two inverted repeat regions of 26,031 bp. After genome annotation, it comes to 130 genes that were predicted, which includes 85, 8, and 37 encoded proteins, rRNA, and tRNA, respectively. A phylogenetic analysis has shown that the S. holocarpa cp genome is related to the Staphylea trifolia. Rapid surface charge mapping of a solid surface remains a challenge. In this study, we present a novel microchip based on liquid crystals for assessing the surface charge distribution of a planar or soft surface. This chip enables rapid measurements of the local surface charge distribution of a charged surface. The chip consists of a micropillar array fabricated on a transparent indium tin oxide substrate, while the liquid crystal is used to fill in the gaps between the micropillar structures. When an object is placed on top of the chip, the local surface charge (or zeta potential) influences the orientation of the liquid crystal molecules, resulting in changes in the magnitude of transmitted light. By measuring the intensity of the transmitted light, the distribution of the surface charge can be accurately quantified. We calibrated the chip in a three-electrode configuration and demonstrated the validity of the chip for rapid surface charge mapping using a borosilicate glass slide. This chip offers noninvasive, rapid mapping of surface charges on charged surfaces, with no need for physical or chemical modifications, and has broad potential applications in biomedical research and advanced material design. Soil aggregates play a crucial role in substance and energy cycles in soil systems. The fixation of soil organic carbon (SOC) is closely tied to the safeguarding mechanisms of soil aggregates. Carbon fixation involves the conversion of atmospheric carbon dioxide into organic molecules by autotrophic organisms. Soil aggregates play a significant role in carbon stabilization, allowing for the physical occlusion of SOC. This study focuses on five forest types, Betula platyphylla, Betula dahurica, Quercus mongolica, Larix gmelinii, and mixed forests comprised of Larix gmelinii and Quercus mongolica, in the Heilongjiang Central Station Black-billed Capercaillie National Nature Reserve, northeast of China. This study investigated the soil aggregate stability (SAS) (water sieving) and aggregate-associated organic carbon (AAOC) at different soil depths in five forest types. Our findings demonstrated that fine macro-aggregates (0.25–2 mm) were the main types of soil aggregates among all the forest types. The SAS gradually decreased with increasing soil depth. Notably, broad-leaved forests exhibited relatively high soil stability. The fine macro-aggregates (0.25–2 mm) had the highest AAOC content, and the AAOC level was highest in the topsoil layer. The SAS and AOCC levels of the Betula platyphylla forest and Betula dahurica forest were higher than those of other forest types and were significantly affected by the forest type, soil depth, and soil physicochemical properties. Collectively, our findings reveal the key factors influencing aggregate stability and the variations in soil organic carbon content in different forest types. These observations provide a basis for studying the mechanisms of soil aggregate carbon sequestration, as well as for the sustainable development of forest soil carbon sequestration and emission reduction. Soil microbiota are significantly influenced by their microenvironments. Therefore, to understand the impacts of various land use patterns on the diversity and composition of soil bacterial communities, this study focused on three typical land use types—NF (natural forest), AF (artificial forests), and FL (farmland)—in the Heilongjiang Central Station Black-billed Capercaillie National Nature Reserve, located in the southwestern part of Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province, China. Using high-throughput sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene, we examined the soil bacterial community structures in these different land use types and explored their correlation with soil environmental factors. The following were our main observations: (1) Significant variations in soil chemical properties among different land use patterns were observed. In artificial forests, total nitrogen (TN), alkali hydrolyzed nitrogen (AN), total phosphorus (TP), and available phosphorus (AP) were higher compared to farmland and significantly higher than those in natural forests. Furthermore, the organic carbon content (SOC) in natural forests was higher than in artificial forests and significantly higher than in farmland. (2) Comparative analysis using the Shannon and Simpson indices revealed that bacterial community diversity was higher in artificial forests than in natural forests, which was significantly higher than in farmland. (3) The effect of different land use types on soil bacterial community structure was not significant. The three land types were dominated by Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, and Actinobacteria. Proteobacteria exhibited a higher relative abundance in farmland and artificial forests compared to natural forests, whereas Actinobacteria exhibited the lowest relative abundance in natural forests. (4) Redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed that SOC, TN, AN, and AP were key environmental factors influencing the microbial communities of soil. The microRNAs, which are small RNAs of 18–25 nt in length, act as key regulatory factors in posttranscriptional gene expression during plant growth and development. However, little is known about their regulatory roles in response to stressful environments in birch (Betula platyphylla). Here, we characterized and further explored miRNAs from osmotic- and salt-stressed birch. Our analysis revealed a total of 190 microRNA (miRNA) sequences, which were classified into 180 conserved miRNAs and 10 predicted novel miRNAs based on sequence homology. Furthermore, we identified Bp-miR408a under osmotic and salt stress and elucidated its role in osmotic and salt stress responses in birch. Notably, under osmotic and salt stress, Bp-miR408a contributed to osmotic and salt tolerance sensitivity by mediating various physiological changes, such as increases in reactive oxygen species accumulation, osmoregulatory substance contents and Na+ accumulation. Additionally, molecular analysis provided evidence of the in vivo targeting of BpBCP1 (blue copper protein) transcripts by Bp-miR408a. The overexpression of BpBCP1 in birch enhanced osmotic and salt tolerance by increasing the antioxidant enzyme activity, maintaining cellular ion homeostasis and decreasing lipid peroxidation and cell death. Summary: Glycine‐rich RNA‐binding proteins (GRPs) have been implicated in the responses of plants to environmental stresses, but the function of GRP genes involved in salt stress and the underlying mechanism remain unclear. In this study, we identified BpGRP1 (glycine‐rich RNA‐binding protein), a Betula platyphylla gene that is induced under salt stress. The physiological and molecular responses to salt tolerance were investigated in both BpGRP1‐overexpressing and suppressed conditions. BpGRF3 (growth‐regulating factor 3) was identified as a regulatory factor upstream of BpGRP1. We demonstrated that overexpression of BpGRF3 significantly increased the salt tolerance of birch, whereas the grf3‐1 mutant exhibited the opposite effect. Further analysis revealed that BpGRF3 and its interaction partner, BpSHMT, function upstream of BpGRP1. We demonstrated that BpmiR396c, as an upstream regulator of BpGRF3, could negatively regulate salt tolerance in birch. Furthermore, we uncovered evidence showing that the BpmiR396c/BpGRF3 regulatory module functions in mediating the salt response by regulating the associated physiological pathways. Given the difficulties in measuring the effective wind speed of wind turbine during the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) process and the unknown nature of the system, this paper proposes a neural network super-twisted sliding mode control (NNST-SMC) method with echo state network (ESN) wind speed estimation. The rotor speed and electromagnetic power are taken as ESN inputs, and the effective wind speed is estimated through the inverse model of wind turbine dynamics. The super-twisted algorithm (STA) can effectively improve the chattering problem of the traditional sliding mode control (SMC) system. The RBF neural network is introduced to compensate for disturbance and uncertainty characteristics of the wind turbine. Results show that compared with the neural network first-order sliding mode control (NNSMC) and super-twisted sliding mode control (ST-SMC), the proposed method can improve the efficiency of wind energy utilization. Rapid and accurate analysis of micro/nano bio-objects (e.g., cells, biomolecules) is crucial in clinical diagnostics and drug discovery. While a traditional resistive pulse sensor can provide multiple kinds of information (size, count, surface charge, etc.) about analytes, it has low throughput. We present a unique bipolar pulse-width, multiplexing-based resistive pulse sensor for high-throughput analysis of microparticles. Signal multiplexing is enabled by exposing the central electrode at different locations inside the parallel sensing channels. Together with two common electrodes, the central electrode encodes the electrical signal from each sensing channel, generating specific bipolar template waveforms with different pulse widths. Only one DC source is needed as input, and only one combined electrical output is collected. The combined signal can be demodulated using correlation analysis and a unique iterative cancellation scheme. The accuracy of particle counting and sizing was validated using mixtures of various sized microparticles. Results showed errors of 2.6% and 6.1% in sizing and counting, respectively. The fast, accurate detection of biomolecules, ranging from nucleic acids and small molecules to proteins and cellular secretions, plays an essential role in various biomedical applications. These include disease diagnostics and prognostics, environmental monitoring, public health, and food safety. Aptamer recognition (DNA or RNA) has gained extensive attention for biomolecular detection due to its high selectivity, affinity, reproducibility, and robustness. Concurrently, biosensing with nanoparticles has been widely used for its high carrier capacity, stability and feasibility of incorporating optical and catalytic activity, and enhanced diffusivity. Biosensors based on aptamers and nanoparticles utilize the combination of their advantages and have become a promising technology for detecting of a wide variety of biomolecules with high sensitivity, reliability, specificity, and detection speed. Via various sensing mechanisms, target biomolecules have been quantified in terms of optical (e.g., colorimetric and fluorometric), magnetic, and electrical signals. In this review, we summarize the recent advances in and compare different aptamer–nanoparticle-based biosensors by nanoparticle types and detection mechanisms. Many cellular functions are regulated by cell surface charges, such as intercellular signaling and metabolism. Noninvasive measurement of surface charge distribution of a single cell plays a vital role in understanding cellular functions via cell membranes. We report a method for cell surface charge mapping via photoelectric interactions. A cell is placed on an array of microelectrodes fabricated on a transparent ITO (indium tin oxide) surface. An incident light irradiates the ITO surface from the backside. Because of the influence of the cell surface charge (or zeta potential), the photocurrent and the absorption of the incident light are changed, inducing a magnitude change of the reflected light. Hence, the cell surface charge distribution can be quantified by analyzing the reflected light intensity. This method does not need physical or chemical modification of the cell surface. We validated this method using charged microparticles (MPs) and two types of cells, i.e., human dermal fibroblast cells (HDFs) and human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSC). Simple Summary: Although wheat is primarily planted to harvest wheat grain, whole crop wheat hay (WCWH) could also be an efficient ruminant feeding source. While the nutrient content and digestibility of WCWH greatly depends on the maturity stage, the optimal harvest stage for making WCWH has been hardly studied. In this study, we evaluated the nutrient content and in vitro digestibility of WCWH harvested during the flowering, late milk and dough stages. Though the neutral detergent fiber content was lower and the starch to non-fibrous carbohydrate (NFC) ratio was greater in the dough stage, we determined that the optimal harvest stage should be the late milk stage due to the greater dry matter digestibility, the relatively greater NFC content and the shorter planting days. The nutritional value of whole crop wheat hay (WCWH) harvested at different maturation stages are different, and its feeding effects on dairy cows have not been thoroughly evaluated. In this study, the in vitro digestibility of whole wheat (Nongda 22) hay harvested during the flowering, late milk and dough stages were evaluated using batch culture technique. The neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) contents of whole wheat hay decreased by 35.5% and 40.4%, respectively, whereas the non-fibrous carbohydrates (NFC) content increased by 50.3% in WCWH harvested during the dough stage as compared to the flowering stage (p < 0.01). The pH of the fermentation liquid and acetate to propionate ratio was greatest in the wheat harvested during the flowering stage and lowest during the dough stage (p = 0.03), whereas the volatile fatty acid (VFA) concentration was greatest during the dough stage and lowest during the flowering stage (p < 0.01). The dry matter loss (DML) was 9.6% and 6.2% greater (p < 0.01) during the late milk stage than in the flowering or dough stages, and the NDF loss (NDFL; p = 0.01) and ADF loss (ADFL; p < 0.01) was greater in both the flowering and late milk stages. In conclusion, though the content of NDF was lower in the dough stage, and the starch to NFC ratio was greater, we determined that the optimal harvest stage should be the late milk stage due to the greater dry matter digestibility, the relatively greater NFC content and the shorter planting days. Due to its biofunctions similar to NO, the CO gas signaling molecule has gradually shown great potential in cardiovascular biomaterials for regulating the in vivo performances after the implantation and has received increasing attention. To construct a bioactive surface with CO-releasing properties on the surface of magnesium-based alloy to augment the anticorrosion and biocompatibility, graphene oxide (GO) was firstly modified using carboxymethyl chitosan (CS), and then CO-releasing molecules (CORM401) were introduced to synthesize a novel biocompatible nanomaterial (GOCS-CO) that can release CO in the physiological environments. The GOCS-CO was further immobilized on the magnesium alloy surface modified by polydopamine coating with Zn2+ (PDA/Zn) to create a bioactive surface capable of releasing CO in the physiological environment. The outcomes showed that the CO-releasing coating can not only significantly enhance the anticorrosion and abate the corrosion degradation rate of the magnesium alloy in a simulated physiological environment, but also endow it with good hydrophilicity and a certain ability to adsorb albumin selectively. Owing to the significant enhancement of anticorrosion and hydrophilicity, coupled with the bioactivity of GOCS, the modified sample not only showed excellent ability to prevent platelet adhesion and activation and reduce hemolysis rate but also can promote endothelial cell (EC) adhesion, proliferation as well as the expression of nitric oxide (NO) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). In the case of CO release, the hemocompatibility and EC growth behaviors were further significantly improved, suggesting that CO molecules released from the surface can significantly improve the hemocompatibility and EC growth. Consequently, the present study provides a novel surface modification method that can simultaneously augment the anticorrosion and biocompatibility of magnesium-based alloys, which will strongly promote the research and application of CO-releasing bioactive coatings for surface functionalization of cardiovascular biomaterials and devices. Multiphase pump is a cost-effective option for subsea oil and gas field development. The ability to handle different inlet gas volume fractions (GVFs) especially high inlet GVF is critical to the development of pump performance. In this study, the two-phase flow characteristics in normal impeller and split vane impeller at different inlet GVFs were investigated by steady numerical simulations. The gas distribution on blade-to-blade plane and meridional flow channel at different inlet GVFs were analyzed and compared. Gas accumulation area and movement characteristics of the gas-liquid flow in impeller flow passage were also pointed out by unsteady simulations. Experimental results of the pump differential pressure were compared with the numerical simulation results, to validate the accuracy of numerical simulation method. The flow characteristics in pump with modified impeller and its performance at different inlet GVFs were both compared with that of the normal impeller. The steady simulation results of normal impeller in different inlet GVFs show that gas concentrating area in the flow passage increases as inlet GVF grows. The unsteady simulation results indicate that gas pocket firstly occurs on the pressure side of impeller, then moves to the suction side in the middle area of blade and finally transfers to outlet of impeller and disappears. The errors between numerical simulation results and experiment data are below 10 %, which validated the feasibility of the numerical simulation method. Simulation results on the split vane impeller demonstrate that the gas accumulation area in flow passage of the modified impeller is dramatically decreased compared to that of the normal impeller. To smooth the randomness, a grey forecasting model is formulated using the data of accumulating generation operator (AGO) rather than original data. Then the inverse accumulating generation operator (IAGO) is applied to find the predicted values of original data. It is proved that the errors from IAGO are affected by the order number of AGO. To achieve an accurate prediction, GM(2,1), which stands for one-variable and second-order differential equation, has been improved by means of fractional order AGO. Finally, four real data sets are imported for comparing the performance of the developed GM(2,1) with several other grey models, such as traditional GM(2,1) and GM(1,1). Detection of small biomolecules is critical for understanding molecular mechanisms in biological systems and performing in vitro diagnosis in clinics. Current antibody based detection methods face large challenges in detecting small biomolecules at low concentrations. We report a new method for detecting small biomolecules based on molecular recognition and nanoparticle (NP) counting. Aptamer-functionalized NPs are attached to complementary sequence (CS)-conjugated microparticle (MP) carriers. In the presence of target small biomolecules at ultra low concentrations, NPs would be released from the MP carriers. Coupled with a resistive pulse sensor (RPS) using a micropore that counts the released NPs, this method can measure the concentrations of target biomolecules at low concentrations with high sensitivity and high throughput. Adenosine was used as a model to demonstrate the feasibility of this method. It is demonstrated that this method can detect a wide range of adenosine concentrations with a low detection limit of 0.168 nM, which is 10 times lower than that of the ELISA kit. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to find out a scientific method to evaluate quality of complex products, whose quality is different from general products. Design/methodology/approach – Based on interval grey number theory, reliability analysis method and stochastic network theory, authors have established grey success tree analysis-graph evaluation and review technique (GSTA-GERT) model in this paper. Findings – Comparing complex products and general products, authors have found that complex products have two characters, i.e. quality of manufacture and quality of service. Furthermore, this paper has proved the GSTA-GERT model is a scientific and reasonable approach to estimate quality of complex products from the sight of manufacture-service network. Originality/value – This paper has established GSTA-GERT model, which surmounts the defect of traditional estimation method, such as lacking logic analysis in the method of analytic hierarchy process. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to realize scientific reasoning and prediction in economic catastrophe, which occurs in the short-term and leads to invalidation of most classical prediction models through lacking basic sample data. Design/methodology/approach – Based on functional theory, grey number algebra theory, Bayesian network theory and interval grey number theory, the authors established GFAM (1,1), which is grey function analysis model (1,1), to excavate and utilize the existing data sufficiently. Findings – This paper proved least squares parameters theorem and prediction theorem and the process of GFAM (1,1). A case was established and demonstrated the utility and good prediction of this model. Background and Objective: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a safe and less invasive technique that uses an electric current to damage nerve tissue to stop it from sending pain signals. This study was aimed to determine the molecular mechanism of neuropathologic damage induced by RFA at different temperatures. Methods: A total of 36 Sprague Dawley rats were used as model with neuropathological injury. These rats were divided into six groups based on the temperature stimulation at 42°C, 47°C, 52°C, 57°C, 62°C, and 67°C. Conduction time, distance, and velocity were recorded after thermal injury. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was used to observe the histopathological changes of sciatic nerve. Neural ion channel proteins such as sodium voltage-gated channel alpha subunit 9 (SCN9A), sodium channel B3 subunit (SCN3B) and neurofascin (NFASC) expression in sciatic nerve tissue were detected detected by Western Blot. Results: Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) gradually decreased with the increase in temperature and neuronal damage was seen at 67°C. HandE staining showed increased degeneration of neurons with an increase in temperature from 47°C to 67°C. SCN9A and SCN3B expression at 57°C, 62°C, and 67°C was much higher; however, NFASC expression was lower at same temperatures. Conclusion: Neuropathological damage caused by RFA at different temperatures shows positive correlation with NCV. Many bio-functions of cells can be regulated by their surface charge characteristics. Mapping surface charge density in a single cell's surface is vital to advance the understanding of cell behaviors. This article demonstrates a method of cell surface charge mapping via electrostatic cell–nanoparticle (NP) interactions. Fluorescent nanoparticles (NPs) were used as the marker to investigate single cells' surface charge distribution. The nanoparticles with opposite charges were electrostatically bonded to the cell surface; a stack of fluorescence distribution on a cell's surface at a series of vertical distances was imaged and analyzed. By establishing a relationship between fluorescent light intensity and number of nanoparticles, cells' surface charge distribution was quantified from the fluorescence distribution. Two types of cells, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and HeLa cells, were tested. From the measured surface charge density of a group of single cells, the average zeta potentials of the two types of cells were obtained, which are in good agreement with the standard electrophoretic light scattering measurement. This method can be used for rapid surface charge mapping of single particles or cells, and can advance cell-surface-charge characterization applications in many biomedical fields. • The backup protection scheme based on traveling wave and waveform similarity is proposed for the VSC-HVDC transmission line. • The difference in 1-mode forward and backward traveling waves between internal and external faults are proven theoretically. • The difference in instantaneous currents between faulty-pole and unfaulty-pole DC lines are proven theoretically. • The protection scheme has superiorities in fault resistance tolerance (2,000 Ω) and quicker fault judgment (less than 4 ms). • The protection scheme can identify the double-pole-to-ground fault with unequal positive-pole and negative-pole fault resistances accurately. The voltage source converter based high voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) system is a practical solution to improve renewable energy integration, flexible consumption, and wide-range complementarity. Because the DC line fault must be cleared within a few milliseconds, a reliable and rapid identification of faulty lines and poles is crucial. Unfortunately, the traditional backup protection cannot respond to internal faults fast enough and is sensitive to fault resistance. What is worse is that a double-pole-to-ground fault with unequal positive-pole and negative-pole fault resistances cannot be identified by most of the existing protection methods. The paper proposes a pilot backup protection based on directional traveling wave and waveform similarity for VSC-HVDC transmission lines to compensate for the drawbacks. The fault characteristic of 1-mode directional traveling waves and the waveform similarity of instantaneous currents of DC lines are elaborated theoretically. Based on the analyses, the protection is established, and the four-terminal VSC-HVDC grid is modeled in PSCAD and OPAL-RT. Detailed theoretical analyses and extensive simulation/experiment results have proven that the proposed protection scheme has higher reliability, selectivity, rapidity, and sensitivity. Compared with the existing backup protections, the proposed protection scheme has superiorities in fault resistance and distance tolerance (2,000 Ω and the entire length of DC lines), fault differentiation of double-pole-to-ground fault with unequal positive-pole and negative-pole fault resistances, immunity from signal noise and measurement error interference, and quicker fault judgment (less than 4 ms). © 2017 Elsevier Inc. The basic leucine zipper (bZIP) gene, which plays a significant role in the regulation of tolerance to biotic/abiotic stresses, has been characterized in many plant species. Betula platyphylla is a significant afforestation species. To elucidate the stress resistance mechanism of birch, previous studies identified some stress resistance genes. However, the genome-wide identification and characterization of bZIP gene family in the birch have not been reported. Here, the 56 BpbZIP genes were identified and classified into 13 groups in birch. Cis-element analysis showed that the promoters of 56 family genes contained 108 elements, of which 16 were shared by 13 groups. There were 8 pairs of fragment repeats and 1 pair of tandem repeats, indicating that duplication may be the major reason for the amplification of the BpbZIP gene family. Tissue-specific of BpbZIP genes showed 18 genes with the highest expression in roots, 15 in flowers, 11 in xylem and 9 in leaves. In addition, five differentially expressed bZIP genes were identified from the RNA-seq data of birch under low-temperature stress, and the co-expressed differentially expressed genes were further screened. The analysis of gene ontology (GO) enrichment of each co-expression regulatory network showed that they were related to membrane lipids and cell walls. Furthermore, the transient overexpression of BpChr04G00610 decreased the ROS scavenging ability of birch under low-temperature stress, suggesting that it may be more sensitive to low-temperature. • N-carbamylglutamate (NCG) improved the production performance of dairy cows. • NCG enhanced antioxidant capacity and immune function to ameliorate heat stress. • NCG reduced blood urea nitrogen and ammonia, while increased serum glucose. • Sixteen plasma metabolites related to heat stress were improved by NCG. • Pathway analysis revealed the potential mechanism of NCG on heat stress. Heat stress is a serious threat to dairy cow health worldwide. N-carbamylglutamate (NCG), a novel feed additive, has been applied in dairy cow industry. However, the effects and mechanisms of NCG on dairy cows under heat stress are still unknown. A total of 48 Holstein dairy cows with similar days in milk (154 ± 13.6 d), parity (1-3), and body condition score were randomly divided into 4 groups of 12 animals each. Under heat stress, the cows were fed a TMR diet supplemented with 0 (control), 15, 20, 25 g of NCG/d per cow for 60 days. Milk production performance was recorded and serum parameters were examined. Meanwhile, metabolomics study of plasma based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was also applied to investigate metabolites and pathways in response to NCG supplementation. Milk yield was increased but milk urea nitrogen was reduced by the NCG treatment. Addition of 15 g of NCG/d increased the milk protein percentage compared with the control. No effect of NCG was observed on dry matter intake, lactose percentage, milk fat percentage and somatic cell count. Serum glucose concentrations in cows fed with 15, 20, 25 g of NCG/d were 5.34 ± 0.312, 5.78 ± 0.473 and 5.54 ± 0.711 mmol/L, which were greater than those in the control (4.87 ± 0.367 mmol/L, P < 0.05). Meanwhile, the concentrations of blood urea nitrogen and blood ammonia were decreased with the addition of NCG. Results for antioxidant capacity and immune function showed beneficial effects of NCG, such as the increases in total antioxidant capacity, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, IgG, IgM and IgA. Clear separations of plasma metabolic profiles between control and NCG groups were observed in the score plots. Sixteen different metabolites involved in metabolisms of amino acids, ketone bodies, butanoate and energy, as well as gut microbiome-derived metabolism were regulated by NCG supplementation. In conclusion, supplementation with NCG has the potential to enhance production performance, antioxidant capacity and immune function, and improved the metabolic profile of dairy cows under heat stress.
